Quint ghouls quint ghouls quint ghouls !!

I've been meaning to do these designs for a while @wrathofrats and I have been talking about all of the older ghouls for a long ass time we've been thinking so hard on them.

Ghoul thoughts below the cut :)

Ps: pls ask me abt my old ghoul lore I'll die for u

Omega

First quintessence ghoul. Has always been Papa's right hand man.

When not touring, he helped in the infirmary but after retirement took a much more hands on role there.

His magic is more attuned to healing than the others. Is the only one of them able to mend more than surface level injuries.

Warm, and soft voiced. Omega is an inviting and stable presence in the ministry. He is kind and patient, human enough in behavior the ministry allows him to speak publicly, to give interviews and speak to the adoring masses.

Delta

Initially a water ghoul, he was the first elemental transition. His transition was not authorized by the clergy, the timing just happened to be convenient.

Like the water ghouls before him, cursed by an element that refuses to be tamed, Delta was bound to reverting back to his base ghoulish nature. Turn feral, if you will. He sought about saving himself, but in turn damned himself to a new fate.

His vessel is not suited to harbor an element like quintessence, and as time went on, the unstable energy inside of him began to eat away at him. Mentally and physically, he was decaying. It changed him in a way nobody could have predicted.

Delta is cold and distant, more so than he ever was as a water ghoul. There is something deeply, deeply unsettling about him.

His magic is weak and a little unpredictable. Rarely allowed to be used on others, Omega makes sure he does not get too involved in the infirmary and its affairs.

Aether

Delta's replacement, one they found quickly and quietly. Aether just seemingly appeared one day, and with his arrival Delta practically went missing in action.

Terzo's first successful quintessence ghoul, something Aether is a bit prideful of. Also had a hand in summoning the rest of his pack.

Studied quite closely with Omega, but had an insatiable curiosity to explore their element more. A tad reckless with it at first, there were several siblings that seemingly disappeared after last being seen with Aether that the clergy scrubbed from their records.

Was fairly tightly wound when he was summoned but has since become much more approachable given time. His nature is quite loving, a very "others before himself" mentality. Charming, dangerously so. Older siblings tend to warn about the honey he speaks, but nobody believes someone as calming as Aether could ever truly be that bad.

His magic is an internal thing. Attuned closer to the brain than the body, sure he can heal but only surface level injuries for the most part. He's much better at tinkering around in your skull than anything.

Retired of his own volition.

Phantom

Newest quintessence ghoul.

Was the first ghoul Copia summoned without assistance.

Much smaller than the previous ghouls of his element, he compensates with a larg personality that is he's really just starting to settle into. Mostly sweet, a little naive. He's picking up his packs bad habits, mostly Dew's excessive use of the word 'fuck'.

Unlike those before him, Phantom's magic is hardly useful for things like healing. He can fix your headaches, but that's about it. Phantom's quintessence, while somewhat similar to Aether's, is mostly new to the clergy. Shadow magic. It's a little unstable, not like Delta's, more he's just unfamiliar with how to control it. Tends to get a little wispy around the edges because of it.

Hcs - ghouls after an argument (part 2 - first part was during the argument)

Swiss: he hangs around, but doesn't really want to apologize. He also doesn't want to admit if he was wrong in the argument and hopes that the person will forgive him anyway.

Dewdrop: shows up in the middle of the night and snuggles up without saying a word. Only apologizes if he has really overdone it during the argument.

Rain: knocks on the door late night, apologize for everything a thousand times and asks sheepishly whether the person still loves him. Afterwards he needs a lot of cuddles and assurances that he is loved.

Aether: shows up again after a few hours and wants to settle the dispute calmly.

Cumulus: will apologize, but only if the person apologizes first.

Phantom: sulks in his room until the other person comes and apologizes. After that, he immediately forgives and wants to spend a cozy evening cuddling up and watching movies.

Cirrus: As a sign that everything is OK again, after a few hours she gives compliments, praises and cooks some favourite food. (only if Cirrus was wrong in the argument, otherwise the person must apologize.)

Aurora: apologizes with "I'm sorry... that you're so stupid."

Sunshine: hugs and cuddles on the couch while playing video games. (she only apologizes for deleting the highscore)

Mountain: brings flowers and invites the person to look at a particularly beautiful plant in the greenhouse. Meanwhile, carefully starts a conversation about the argument to clear it up.

Copia: sends a rat with a small letter of apology. He hangs around in front of the door and when the person leaves he tries to discreetly ask if they have read the letter yet.

GHOULS AND THEIR FAVORITE FOODS

Started thinking of the ghouls a little too much while I was hungry, so Im now here to present this dumpster fire.

Aether: frozen yogurt

He loves when it’s warmer out, it means the cold treat is even better than usual (yes he's the type to eat cold stuff when its cold out). He loves the tart, plain flavor and puts cookie dough bites and butterfinger pieces on it.

Dew: ravioli

Any filling, any sauce. Lil guy will put these away like they’re air. The store bought, premade ones are good, but he loves the ones Mountain makes— mushroom and cheese filled in a brown butter sauce.

Aeon: rice crackers

He likes to think that this is what it must feel like to chew on styrofoam. Sure they taste good, but he mostly eats them for the crunches. He lowkey hates the ones wrapped in seaweed.

Aurora: indian food

She is an absolute fiend for samosas. She could make a meal out of it if only she didnt want to eat everything else on the menu. She loves literally everything, but her favorite is chicken madras. She’s busy eating her way through the menu at the restaurant in town. She goes with Copia every Friday for lunch, its their “thing”.

Mountain: barbecue

He’s in heaven whenever they tour through some of the southern states. Loves brisket. Loves cornbread even more.

(he also just loves meat in his mouth)

Rain: cheap pizza

He loves all chain pizzas, but his favorite is Little Caesars. A crappy and slightly-overcooked-from-sitting-under-the-warmer pizza will cheer him up on even the worst days. Also hates olives. Like he really, really hates them. Dew messed up the first time he ordered and got a supreme pizza with olives and Rain straight up cried.

Sunshine: pierogies

She'll eat any pierogi, as long as you give her sour cream on the side. Sometimes she likes them crisped up in butter, but that's a big sometimes. Sunshine has still not found a filling she dislikes.

Swiss: fancy(ish) pizzas

I cant really blame the guy for liking the woodfired stuff. Favorite toppings include but are not limited to: roasted garlic, roasted peppers, prosciutto, and arugula. Him and Rain are opposites when it comes down to this.

Cumulus: pad thai

Americanized or traditional, she will devour it. Though she regularly eats meat, she only gets tofu as the protein option for her pad thai. Unlike the others who seem to have had the best luck, she has found one that she absolutely hated. It was from an Asian fusion chain restaurant. She would've sent it back if she wasn't so scared of being perceived as rude.

Cirrus: crab rangoon

She hates when there's actual crab in her crab rangoons. She just wants that sweet cream cheese. It is the only thing she asks for when they pick cheap Chinese food for dinner.

Some phantom headcannons bc I said so

• He likes chewing on things. Hard rubber is a delicacy to his chomping desires. If he's understimulated or goes too long without chomping on something he's GOTTA bite something even if it's chewing on his tail. Even though he knows he shouldn't because he could accidentally chomp too hard. The ghouls usually try to stop him when they notice. Usually tail chewing isn't a conscious decision.

• Tommy has some anxiety issues. (The chewing being one if his self-soothing techniques as well.) Being new, he doesn't quite know or understand all of the regular pack activities and social queues which can sometimes make him feel left out or estranged from everyone else. The pack try their best to include him in everything though.

• Sensory sensitivity. Sensory is completely different in this realm than it was in the pits. Down there survival was the main focus so he was always constantly on his toes. Now that he's here and can slow down and experience the world he notices how many little things can send him into overstim. Loud noises, wet cloth, bright lights, all things he grows to have a large distaste for. The pack help him figure out his needs and accommodations though.

• Bat wing hoodie. He has a batwing hoodie. Need I say more? To announce his presence in the room he'll open up the wings and say "boo!"

• His true demon form is closer to that of a wyvern which is where the interest in bats comes from. Although demons and creatures from the pits don't typically exist in this realm other than to do the biddings of Satanic followers, bats are close enough.

• When he goes nonverbal he can still somewhat communicate through Wyvern clicks, chirps, and trills

• His quintessence isn't as strong as Aeth's due to being a younger ghoul and not having a large amount of practice with it, but Aeth takes a couple days off each week along with Omega to help coach him in using it.

Ship Headcanons - Ada/Leon

Gives forehead/nose kisses: So I have a very specific answer for all of these. Forehead is def Leon giving them. He's much more affectionate than Ada but in private settings they're more half and half. In terms of forehead kisses specifically, I hc that he kisses her temple more, sometimes along her hair line and her cheek. Ada's the one that gives noses kisses, and other things for his nose too heh heh she also likes how adorable he looks when she boops his nose

Gets jealous the most: Leon, but it's not serious. Rarely does he actually take the time to get mad at her about something about her past or even in a present day setting. Ada doesn't get jealous as much as she gets insecure that she can't provide Leon what he wants or needs.

Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive: Leon's the drunk ass. Ada's picking him up. Ada is NOT getting drunk in a public space. here's ada dragging leon from a bar lol

Takes care of on sick days: Leon would take care of Ada much more despite her protests. BUT he would also know if she really wants to be left alone. Feel like Ada is the type to let it fester because she's not willing to seek help. me crying over when i wrote leon taking care of ada. Ada would do the minimum in terms of, checking in for a fever, MAYBE staying with him if he gets worse. But would most likely give him meds, water and leave him to sleep. If he's already sleeping she might watch over him quietly. But she's not gonna wait around all day.

Drags the other person out into the water on beach day: This depends. If perhaps Leon's in a bad mood, Ada would wanna drag him out into the water. Leon would probably entice Ada in other ways to join him in the water. here i have them at da the beach hehe

Gives unprompted massages: Ada. She's a bit more touchy feely in that way - than him. He MIGHT but he wouldn't be necessarily as good as her. I hc that Ada gives AMAZING massages, she can turn leon into a limp noodle (yes that way too)

Drives/rides shotgun: ADA'S DRIVING

Brings the other lunch at work: Ada might cause she would wanna tease him about it. in an au setting tho, Leon would be the one heading to her work and giving her lunches hehe

Has the better parental relationship: ... what does this mean. like their parents? they dead. i really can't say tbh cause we don't know either of their relationships with their parents. unless this means like, them being parents? half and half, it depends on what aspects of parenting since there's so many ways to parent

Tries to start role-playing in bed: Ada 100% Leon might but he's bad at it. he's cringe but she loves that

Embarrassingly drunk dancer: Leon is also a terrible dancer sober and has two left feet but doesn't mind that Ada is a splendid dancer. She'd help him along and finds it endearing that he's so focused on getting the moves/steps right she'd just want him to move along with her and to stop panicking. she wants him to just feel the moment rather than the act of trying to dance well

Still cries watching Titanic: Leon. He's a movie dude. Would've had Titanic in the two part VHS tapes. also when is like canonically the first time leon saw boobs LMAO

Firmly believes in couples costumes: ADA SDFBSKFk leon's not one to dress up anyways and would just go along with whatever ada had planned

Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas: Ada

Makes the other eat breakfast: LEON. he's a breakfast dude. Ada a habitual breakfast skipper and maybe coffee or tea drinker before she just starts her day. she might have a small brunch later but she only really starts eating breakfast more when Leon asks for it or he just makes it because he WANTS BREAKFAST. fic where i wrote leon crying over breakfast (i think it's chapter 6?)

Remembers anniversaries: Leon ;_; but Ada does also but she's more silent about it. She'd still wanna celebrate but only if he wants to. If there's some sort of anniversary or even his birthday she'll still drop off something for him if she can. wrote about his birthday here

Brings up having kids: LEON but only in a sad way. Maybe if he's being sad about missing out on it but also in a way where he's worried he wouldn't be able to provide a good life for them anyways so it's better off this way. ada i feel would NEVER bring up having kids unless she was actually PRENGNENT.

the ghouls are having karaoke night. what are they singing you may ask?

dew claims his 'favorite' song, cigaro by system of a down, if only so he can jump up and down while screaming "my cock is much bigger than yours" into the mic. his favorite song is actually whatever rain has been singing in the shower all week, but he can't let anyone else know that

phantom immediately knows what to sing. are they drunk? call me maybe. are they sober? call me maybe

swiss puts on aurora's flapper costume from halloween and sings nasty by russ. no, it doesn't make much sense, but he's not wearing underwear so no one really minds. phantom has been on their knees at his feet the whole time, drooling a little bit while they palm themself through their pants

aurora goes next now that swiss has everyone thoroughly aroused, taking the mic to sing odelly's mon démon while making extremely prolonged eye contact with mountain and aether. the whole den smells like soil and ozone, and everyone is two seconds away from combusting

cirrus and cumulus go next, wanting to wail a duet and knock everyone out of their horny minds enough to get through the rest of the pack (it's just two more songs, but swiss went way to early). they grab mics and go to town: HERE I AM --- ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE!!!! It's a capella, and the two take turns between singing the lyrics and the guitar parts

aether and mountain were going to sing rock you like a hurricane, but quickly regroup and settle on my heart will go on. they turn it into a titanic remake, mountain holding aether at the waist while cumulus provides a good breeze for dramatic effect. no one is sure how they hit most of the notes

rain has to go last, everyone knows better or else karaoke night would have definitely ended early. this week he borrowed some of papa's vestments and threw down with take me to church. by the time he was finished everyone was sobbing and somewhere between half to fully naked, in various compromising positions. dew has been trying to get under his robes since he started
