Hello and welcome to my contribution to Dincember!

Following NaNoWriMo (which I used to complete a draft of a modern AU!Din x reader fic that I aim to start posting in January) I wanted to attempt another writing project to maintain my sanity during this festive period! I'm aiming to complete all 25 days but life can sometimes be unpredictable, especially at this time of year.

I really hope you enjoy my interpretations of each prompt and best of luck if you're also participating, can't wait to see what everyone creates. Thanks @dindjarindiaries for putting these prompts together, celebrating all things Din is a wonderful way to close out the year!

All my fics are GN!reader and I don't include physical descriptions. Nothing more mature than a bit of smooching either :)

Day 1 - Snow: After a busy few months, Din surprises you and Grogu with a well-earned retreat to a snowy paradise in the run up to Life Day. Snow-filled chaotic fun ensues!

Day 2 - Fire: During a trip to a peaceful cabin with Din and Grogu, you awake one morning and discover that Grogu is poorly. You and Din are extremely worried but after a visit from a healer and the warmth of the fire you light, his condition soon improves.

Day 3 - Gloves: As you sit watching Grogu play by the fire while holding hands with Din, you reflect on how a simple part of his body says so much about the complex man that you are so privileged to love. A simple pleasure that you would have been denied, if he had never removed his gloves.

Day 4 - Lights: You introduce Din to a favourite Life Day tradition of yours: hanging up lights. It's a tradition that he finds slightly bemusing but after a slight hiccup which is soon resolved, thanks to the abilities possessed by Grogu, the two of you set about making a cheesy new Life Day tradition all of your own.

Day 5 - Cold: After your favourite Mandalorian's latest assignment with the New Republic means that his return to your cabin is delayed, you head to bed, thoroughly miserable. But when Din finally arrives home the reunion does not go entirely smoothly, as you find yourself needing to warm him up, with adorable consequences.

Day 6 - Gifts: It's Life Day and time for you and Din exchange gifts. You love sharing in the joy of seeing others surprised with your gifts, but nothing surprises you more than the incredibly thoughtful gift Din gives to you.

Day 7 - Star: As you lie on Din's strong chest, looking at the stars and reflecting how grateful you are that your paths crossed, you discover once again, that the man with the fearsome reputation is incredibly soft underneath his hard Beskar shell.

Day 8 - Flame: A fire pit outside your little cabin on Nevarro has always been a dream of yours. So, when Din finally agrees to build one, you are delighted, especially when he secures your favourite sweet treats too. But it's Din's first time roasting candy on a campfire and things don't exactly go to plan...

Day 9 - Boots: Raising a Force-sensitive child is not an easy task, especially one as mischievous as Grogu. When the little guy decides to play a game of hide and seek without telling you and Din first, you find him in a place that you would never have expected.

Day 10 - Sweater: After his latest job with the New Republic takes him away from your home, you find yourself missing Din terribly. But, despite how sappy and lame as you feel for doing so, you find wearing his sweater brings you a great deal of comfort when you need it most.

Day 11 - Icicle: An innocent icicle causes Din to reminisce on a moment he shared with Grogu on the Razor Crest shortly after rescuing The Child from the Imps on Nevarro.

Day 12 - Warmth: After you find yourself caught up in a rainstorm that drenches you to the bone on the forest planet you call home, an unexpectedly kind Mandalorian helps you to get warm again.

Day 13 - Family: Din Djarin is a complex man, with many walls you have not yet successfully broken down. You have been slowly building a life with the man who has a traumatic past he has alluded to, but never discussed in detail. One night, Din wakes up from a nightmare and finally lets you in. You comfort him, reminding him of your love for him and how much he deserves his unlikely family.

Day 14 - Home: During a moment cuddling with Din underneath the festive lights in your cabin, Din confides in you what home means to him.

Day 15 - Candle: Despite planning a special evening to mark your final night in the cabin that you, Din and Grogu have enjoyed a relaxing vacation in, your plans are soon thwarted by an unexpected power cut. However, the sudden loss of light ends up having very romantic consequences.

Day 16 - Sweet: After a tiring day of yard work, you decide to introduce Din and Grogu to one of your favourite festive drinks: hot chocolate. Although the sweetness proves a little too much for one of your Clan.

Day 17 - Joy: Despite you and Din having plans to go to a special festive market with Grogu, you wake up feeling awful, as though all festive cheer has been sucked out of you. Fortunately, you have a loving and caring Mandalorian who helps you regain your joy.

Day 18 - Snowflake: As Din stands by the window, watching the snow fall outside your cabin in the mountain paradise he brought you to for a vacation, he reveals a hilarious memory of his first encounter with snow to you. One that you are keen not to let him forget in a hurry.

Day 19 - Coat: You and Din arrive for a vacation in a picturesque snowy mountain town. There's just one problem: you brought the wrong coat. You head into town in search of the perfect coat but after a long day of fruitless searching, fortunately you have an incredibly patient and attentive Mandalorian to help you through the shopping stress.

Day 20 - Celebration: To show Din how much he means to you, you decide to make a special gesture in celebration of him by cooking him a traditional Mandalorian feast. Despite having your heart set on a perfect evening, a certain green child has other ideas...

Day 21 - Love: Despite how much time you have been spending with Din and getting to know him, you are still none the wiser as to whether your feelings for him are reciprocated. But an impromptu night of stargazing leads to a confession that may just change everything for the two of you...

Day 22 - Cozy: When Grogu wakes up upset in the middle of the night, both you and Din are concerned for him. But getting cozy and cuddling with his Clan soon brightens the little boy's mood.

Day 23 - Frost: You and Din wake up one morning to discover the volcanic planet you call home has been plunged into a deep frost. You are awestruck by the gleaming ground and the icy crystals that cling to every surface. You and Din decide to head out for a walk with Grogu, who is fascinated by the way his favourite pond has frozen over.

Day 24 - Ice: The unseasonably weather on Nevarro causes a pond to freeze and thanks to a stroke of good luck, a passing vendor is able to offer the opportunity to skate on it. You expect that Din will be a natural, but things do not go entirely to plan.

Day 25 - Holiday Waking up before Din on Life Day gives you the opportunity to admire all the little details and features of the man you love so much.

The results are in! After looking at the interest check survey I did last month, you spoke, and you chose to participate in an Appreciation Week for the boys and Omega!

So, in the coming weeks, I'll be rolling out another survey for you to choose the prompts. It'll be done in 2 phases. The first big selection phase will be done through a form where you can decide up to 10 prompts in different categories (SWF, Dialogue, Tropes/AU, NSFW, and color palettes). Then, in the second phase, I'll post polls here on Tumblr with the most voted in each category to get the final 7!

Regarding the event date, there was no consensus, so I'm taking @superiorsniper's suggestion and pick the week from September 3-9. I'm mad that I didn't think the 9/9 as date myself! So, thank you for your wonderful suggestion!

Why not sooner, you may ask. Why not in May, for example? Honestly, I was never fond of doing it then, simply because there are so many Star Wars fandom events during that month. I don't want anyone to feel overwhelmed or having to choose between this and another event because of a schedule/free time issue.

By hosting it in September, that leave us plenty of time to choose the prompts, plan, get hyped, and create before the final date comes. I want this event to be as lay back, stress-free as possible. This is something for fun, so I'll do my best to give as much time as I can for everyone to create.

Anything that @radiowallet writes is gold. From PWC to Funny Girl. It is all just 🤌🤌. She’s an amazing writer. She’s also super super amazingly nice. A bright spot in this fandom that can be kinda shitty sometimes.

Anything that @sirowsky write is amazing too. Driving Mr. Tovar is one of my comfort fics. I love it. I have read it multiple times.

@scribbledghost and her Agent Whiskey. Her Whiskey is perfect. Multitudes is another of my comfort fics.

@the-ginger-hedge-witch and her Marcus Pike. Have you read the story “Seven”? If not you should. Also read The Crush….and Forrest Ranger Frankie…..you know what…just read everything. She’s amazing.

@blueeyesatnight and her Tovar. The Cross is unbelievably good. Kept me at the edge of my seat. Also That’s Not Your Name is 🤌🤌🤌. Dieter’s relationship with Pi. I love it. The reason he names his son Pickle. Made me sob.

@oonajaeadira Again, just read everything. I can’t pick. She’s amazing. You will absolutely not be disappointed. The Sweets Series is a comfort read and don’t even get me started on Pats.

@yespolkadotkitty and her Zach and Martha. They live rent free in my head. I have read her novel “Say You’ll Stay” to many times to count. Also, Fighting Blind made me sob like a baby.

@disgruntledspacedad and her Better Love series will always live rent free in my head. It was the first fanfic that got me into the fandom and it has a soft spot in my heart. I love Ears and Javi. Seriously, it is so well written it could be a season of Narcos. She also has a super sweet and sexy Frankie story called “Fire In The Sky”

@dindjarindiaries is my go to for anything Din. She loves Din and it shows in how she writes him. She understands his character and writes him perfectly. Security is a MUST read for any Mandalorian fan.

@something-tofightfor write Joel Miller like no one else. I’m also obsessed with her story for Jay Castillo called Nightingale. I love the relationship between reader and Jay.

@jazzelsaur and her perfect story Between The Raindrops. It’s a beautiful story of two people finding love again. It made me laugh and cry. It’s perfect.

@bunniesofsteel also writes a perfect Din. The way she writes “reader” speaks to me. I relate super hard to the way she writes her. She’s strong and brave, but also has an undercurrent of anxiety and uncertainty. Again just 🤌🤌🤌

@leslie-lyman and Stranger At My Gate. I flipping love reading Tovar and she has written him so well. The relationship between Tovar and Tessa is goals. They also live rent free in my head.

 It had taken you by surprise how a well known bounty hunter with the reputation of not only being one of the best but also being stoic and cold, could simply walk into the bar with a satchel containing a small cooing child in it and act as if it was the most normal thing in the galaxy.

This is from a wip I have in my docs and still did not manage to work on more for a Mando one shot. Honestly, I am not going to be tagging as many people as there are words in this one lol, but I will tag some people !

I’d like to give a big shout out and thank you to @supernaturalgirl20 and @dindjarindiaries and @forever-rogue and so many others, but these are my top three right now.

You guys have no idea how much your stories help me though the weeks especially the fluffy and angsty ones. They always make me just forget my real life problems for just a few split seconds and y’all are the reason I don’t think about how I feel like a nobody sometimes. Y’all also help on the days when I’m feeling absolutely sick to my stomach and don’t feel like doing much else. Y’all make me feel happy for a split second though all my pain and sadness.

Din Djarin: Comfort Headcanons

Summary: some ways that Din would comfort his loving partner….

Warnings: dictionary definition of hurt comfort. Anxiety, sadness, crying, anger, sexual harassment and brief uncomfortable touching. References of Din’s past. Din being the best :)

A/N: This is completely self-indulgent, so I hope you guys enjoy haha! Again, thank you for the support on my work. It makes me so happy :)

Stress

- Din is incredibly observant. It’s just something he has learned overtime. Being a fighter and constantly on the run forces a person to see everything everywhere. Even unintentionally.

- So when he starts noticing your ticks, he doesn’t stop. He literally can’t help it.

- You tend to get reclusive, spending more and more time alone. You also tend to snap a bit more and are constantly on edge when you’re really stressed. Like the smallest thing could set you off.

- He would never be angry at you for this. How could he? Stress is a normal, human thing. He has had his fair share of anxiety too. He gets it.

- He knew you tried your best to control it and spent more time alone for his sake, as to not lash out on him, but he always missed you during this time. He missed your laugh echoing against the Crest’s walls.

- So, as always, he came into your shared bedroom one night and laid down next to you. You cuddled into his chest, and he kissed the top of your head, just like every night you had spent together.

- “Do you wanna talk?” he said, and he felt your body inhale a deep breath.

- “Not really. It’ll be over soon,” you said, referring to your stress, and he pulled away from you slightly so he was able to look into your eyes.

- “It’s going to work out Cyarika,” he said. “I know it sounds cheesy now, but you’ll get through this and it’ll be worth it. It always is,” he said with a smile, and you pulled him in by his shirt collar for a passionate kiss.

- You guys kissed for a while, relishing in each other’s bodies, making up for the time lost, before you pulled away and kissed his pulse point one last time.

- “Thank you Din, you always make me feel better,” you said.

- “Of course riduur, I’m always here when you need me.”

Sadness

- Just like with stress, Din Djarin was no stranger to sadness. He has experienced many forms in his life, whether that be death, failure, loneliness, helplessness, disappointment, sorrow. He knows how it feels.

- In the beginning of your relationship, you dealt with sadness the same way as stress: isolation.

- But after some time of getting to know each other more in some of the deepest ways possible, your sadness attracted you to him like a magnet.

- You wanted his warmth, his voice, and his security. The fact that he would just let you cry and cry into him for as long as you needed. He didn’t even need an explanation. He’d ask you later, just to make sure it wasn’t anything serious, but if you needed to just sit in your sadness, he would let you. More than that even, he’d sit right along side you.

- For example, after a typically bad day, you dumped your things on the Crest floor, and exhaled deeply. Trying to keep the tears at bay.

- Din heard your entrance, understanding what kind of day you had instantly. He knew you’d want him today, need him.

- He was happy to oblige.

- He stood up from his seat, making his way to the hallway. When his eyes met yours, your shoulders slumped your cries filled the room.

- He took a deep breath, and made his way over to you, holding you in his arms. He is slightly taller than you, so your head was tucked into his chest.

- “Let it out Y/N,” he mumbled into your hair, and you broke down even more. You two stood there for some time, with Din rubbing and caressing your body as your cries slowly got quieter and quieter.

- Once you got all of your emotions out, Din pulled away from the hug and gave your lips a quick peck with his own.

- “Dinner?” he asked with a smile. The type of smile that makes the world seem a bit smaller, and a little less dark.

- “Yes please,” you respond with a nasally giggle, sniffling as well.

- “Alright,” Din chuckled, leading you to the kitchen by your connected hands.

- The explanation can wait. It’s not like you were going anywhere any time soon.

Anger

- Anger is something Din reacts to much differently than the average person.

- The average person doesn’t have the capability to pound the person making them angry into a pulp and/or throw them into carbonate. That’s just not realistic.

- But Din did. It’s not like much else pissed him off other than his quarries.

- That is, until someone makes you angry.

- You’re a relatively calm person most of the time. You mostly just get annoyed at things and blow them off, not letting it get under your skin.

- However, there are a few things that set off your fuse. Including: catcalling.

- One day in particular, Din, you, and Grogu were all at a shopping center, getting your monthly groceries.

- This shopping center in particular was extremely busy. So much so, that Din advised you to split up and meet back at the Crest in about an hour time. He had your location on and your emergency comms, of course, but he knew there was no point trying to stay attached at the hip. One of you would get lost in the crown eventually, and it was easy to only worry about yourself.

- And so, for your final purchase of the day, you made your way over to a clothing stand to purchase a few more shirts. Yours have become worn out from all the rewears and laundry loads.

- You start perusing, checking sizes, when a man comes up from behind you.

- “Need any help darlin’,” he says, and you jump slightly in surprise.

- “Oh uh, no thanks. I’m good,” you say, before turning back around to look at your options.

- “Are ya sure? I can help you with other things too,” he says, and you can hear the smirk he has on his lips.

- Who the hell does this guy think he is?

- “Nope. I said no,” you say without turning back around. A hand creeps up the small of your back, and that’s when you lose it.

- “Enough,” you say, slapping the man’s hand away.

- “Alright, geez,” he says, stomping away from you.

- This time, you weren’t angry. You were furious.

- What gives that man the right to touch you and say things like that to you? And he had the nerve to stomp away like that. As if you did something wrong.

- You finish purchasing your clothes, and walk as quickly as you can back to the Crest.

- Once you make it, you see Din standing outside, leaning against the ramp. Grogu was in his arms, playing with a toy Din had to have bought it today.

- This lifts some of the anger off of your shoulders, but you are still pissed.

- “Sorry I’m late. Minor setback,” you say as you approach Din. He nods, handing the babbling child over to you.

- “Hey buddy,” you say, tapping his nose with your thumb.

- “Everything ok?” Din asks you.

- “Yeah, we can talk later,” you say, and Din nods.

- Later that night, you tell him the story of what went down at the clothing stand, and the anger you felt started to resurface.

- “I just don’t know why he felt it was ok to do that. I told him no multiple times,” you say to Din, looking down and shaking your head.

- You take a deep breath and look back up into Din’s visor once more. The entire time you were telling the story, he was quiet and stoic. Barely even reacting to your words.

- “Din? You awake?” you say as a joke, but his shoulders raise slightly.

- “He….. touched you,” Din says, and you freeze.

- “Ye-Yeah. Just a little,” you say and Din shakes his head. Slowly.

-“And you never got his name? Or a description?” he asks, and you shake your head. His grip tightens, so much so his gloves start to squeak.

-“Good,” he says, and your brows crease in confusion.

-“Good?” you ask, and he nods. Menacingly this time.

-“Yes. Because if I knew who he was, I cannot promise he would continue breathing longer than I can tear apart this galaxy.”

i joined tumblr almost a year ago to the day and i can genuinely say that it was one of the best decisions of my life. when i first made this account, i was feeling super disconnected from the world and was desperate for a space where i could be myself and connect with those who shared similar interests. over the past year, this platform has acted as that space, allowing me to post my writing and explore my passions; however, what has impacted me the most is the friends i've made along the way.

you all inspire me every day. you pour your heart and soul into everything you do, whether that’s writing, drawing, gif-making, cosplaying, or simply posting, and you do it not to gain money or mass recognition, but because you simply love doing it. every interaction with y'all, whether that be a silly ask game or picrew chain, a sweet comment or reblog, brings a massive smile to my face. i never thought i’d be able to form such a strong connection to people i’ve only communicated with through a screen, but i’ve really found a home here, as cheesy as that sounds, and i can’t thank you enough (though i'm still gonna try).

so, without further ado, here are some 'thank yous' i need to give out:

Ethereal.

That’s how Din would describe you if anyone asked him. You were ethereal. Eternally ethereal.

He loves you, genuinely loves you, and it terrifies him more than anything but he still accepts it.

And now you’re staring at him, eyes wide with shock, hands practically trembling, and he wonders how badly he missed everything up.

All because for once his mouth worked faster than his brain and the second he saw you blessed by the morning light and he muttered two words that you heard as clear as day, “Marry me.”

The morning light was gone now, instead the only thing lighting the ever growing distance between the two of you were the flickering lights of the hull.

Din wasn’t sure what to do. He considered taking those words back, even though he knew that would mean nothing now, or leaving the room and reverting back to the time when the two of you were merely strangers sharing a space. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t hurt you by saying that he hadn’t meant them and he couldn’t hurt himself by pretending that he was okay no longer having you in his life.

His fingers fidgeted. Your mouth closed, you cleared your throat and Din waited. For what, he wasn’t sure, rejection he thought. Only that wasn’t what he received in return. All he got was one word, a question, “What?”

He looked at you. Really looked at you. You were confused, no other emotion seemed to fill you.

You made the first step to close the distance. Then another, and then another. Three steps.

His hands reached out for you, it was an automatic reaction at this point, and you responded in kind, grabbing his hands and bringing yourself as close to him as you could.

It was silent, but comforting. You both needed it, but you also needed an answer.

“Din?” It was soft yet pointed. You weren’t going to push but you reminded him that you were still there, waiting.

He brought you down so that you were seated on one of the few chairs in the hull and then kneeled in front of you.

“Cyare,” his hands grabbed yours, his helmet clearly staring straight at them instead of up at you. Your interlaced hands were his lifeline.

“Din, you don’t have to-“ he shook his head, “I want to.”

You heard a deep breath come through the helmet, and then ever so slowly his visor peered up at you and you knew he was looking at your eyes just as you knew that you were somehow looking directly at his.

“Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum,” his words were clear, crisp almost. He wanted you to hear this. “You are my everything. I never thought that I’d find someone who I could even consider to be my riduur, but I met you.”

“Din,” your voice wavered and your eyes were overwhelmed with tears, but you let him continue.

“We don’t have to marry now cyare,” his voice was softer now, trembling, “but I want to be able to marry you one day, call you my riduur, show myself to you.” He started to crack now as well.

You wanted to ask him if he was serious, but asking that would mean that you didn’t really now Din because he wouldn’t have said anything unless he truly meant it. And you knew Din, maybe even better than you knew yourself.

So you did the one thing you knew that Din would understand, you leaned forward and rested your forehead against Din’s helmet, and stayed there.

The pattern I see is that often they're sentences of a medium-to-long length perhaps. And also often, the characters are in a contemplating mood before whatever it's happening takes them out of it.
