So I should be writing two other posts, but I’ve been inspired to write out a little “Renu’s headcanon Kirby lore” thing about…
Adeleine’s eternal youth
Enjoy
Ribbon wasn’t helping set up for the celebration of the saving of Ripple Star like she knew she should be. She was one of the most important members of fairy society. The Guardian of the Crystal. But she had also been on the entire journey to save the entire universe from destruction, and she needed a break. She looked out of the window of the palace library at the late afternoon scenery. Outside she could see crowds of fairies and some delegates from other planets walking up to a small stage that had been set up for the heroes to give speeches and accept thank-yous on. Ribbon could barely make her out because of how far away the stage was, but she knew she was up there.
Adeleine was the nicest person Ribbon had ever met, and she was so different from everyone else she knew. Adeleine didn’t dress like a girl, and she was tougher than nearly every fairy Ribbon had ever known. She was tall, and could make living paintings. She seemed to be the only member of her kind left. Ribbon sighed as she flipped through the book on lesser known species in the universe. There was nothing about humans in it. She set it down and fluttered back up the shelves. There had to be something. She looked over the titles of books, but didn’t find anything that might have something about humans in it.
“Ribbon? Shouldn’t you be out with your friends?” someone behind her asked, startling her. Ribbon spun around, her wings flittering much faster than normal. Hovering behind her was Velveteen, one of the many fairies that lived in and helped maintain the palace.
“I live here, Vel,” Ribbon said. “Nobody is going to ask me questions.” Velveteen rolled her eyes.
“Ribbon, we all want to know what that battle against Zero Two was like. And you were the only one there besides that overgrown rubber ball!” Velveteen said. Ribbon crossed her arms.
“Don’t call him that, for one,” she said. “His name is Kirby and he’s very nice.” Ribbon looked at the bookshelves beside her and back to Velveteen. “And I’m… also looking for a book. It’s important.” Velveteen perked up.
“What kind of book?” she asked. Ribbon took a deep breath.
“A book with any information at all about humans,” she began. “I met one on this whole journey. She’s possibly the last one there is in the whole universe, but there must have been more of them before. I just need to find out any information on them I can, because she doesn’t really know anything herself.” Velveteen closed her eyes, and then snapped her fingers and pointed at Ribbon.
“Follow me,” she said, flying to the other side of the library. Ribbon followed, watching Velveteen as she flew to a row of dusty looking books that was tucked away into a dimly lit corner. She looked over them, and pulled out a smaller, not very thick book and handed it to Ribbon. She looked at it, wiping some of the dust off the cover.
“‘What are Humans, Anyway?’” Ribbon read off the cover. She looked down at the bottom of the book and gasped. “Queen Ethereal!? How old is this thing?!” Velveteen shrugged.
“A good few millennia,” she said. “But that should have the answers of whatever you’re looking for. Unless it’s about what happened to them. It probably predates the mass extinction.” Ribbon frowned. She wasn’t looking for answers about that, as Shiver Star and Adeleine’s jumpy behavior there was enough to tell her how they all died out.
“Thanks, Vel,” Ribbon said, holding the book close. Velveteen nodded and flew out of the library. Ribbon make her way back over to the small book she had been reading at, and opened the book. She coughed as a cloud of dust billowed up, and blinked rapidly. The table of contents seemed fairly generic, and wasn’t informative at all. Ribbon had heard that Queen Ethereal was empty headed, so she wasn’t surprised about that too much. She flipped through the pages, until she found what she was looking for.
“‘Humans, being a type of large mammal, have very short lifespans,’” she read, her voice cracking as she did. “The typical lifespan of a human seems to be 80 years. They also age very rapidly, which seems to cause this. As such, it’s advised to not get too attached to them.” The dusty old pages of the book quickly became damp as Ribbon weeped. 80 years. That couldn’t be right. It couldn’t be. Adeleine was so full of life. Ribbon shut the book and put it back where it used to be, landing on the edge of the shelf and flicking her wings to kick up some dust so it didn’t look like it was touched. She fluttered back over to the rest of the books she had grabbed and stuffed them back in their spots, wiping tears from her eyes the whole time. She sighed heavily and turned to leave, when the door to the library creaked open slightly.
“Ribbon? Are you still in here?” Ribbon snapped to attention immediately, blinking the tears from her eyes. Queen Ripple carefully walked into the library, closing the door behind her.
“Yes, your majesty,” Ribbon said. Ripple waved a droopy sleeve at her.
“I told you not to call me that,” she said. “I was just looking for you because everyone else is out there, and you… aren’t.” Ribbon shrugged.
“Didn’t feel like it,” she said. Ripple tilted her head, eyeing Ribbon.
“Really now,” Ripple said. “You seem upset.” Ribbon knew she shouldn’t lie to the queen. She sighed, and flew back over to the place she had been sitting, curling up in one of the soft beanbags. She could feel that she was about to cry again. Ripple sat down in a chair across from her.
“I… It’s…” Ribbon stammered, choking on her words. “Adeleine. She… She’s my best friend. She’s so kind and funny and creative. But… But humans only live for 80 years. Eight zero. That’s… That’s not fair!” Ribbon buried her face in the beanbag, sobbing. She wasn’t sure how long she cried for, but after a while, she felt Ripple gently touch her between her wings.
“That’s horrible, Ribbon,” she said. “But you have her now.” Ribbon violently shook her head.
“But I want her to be my friend forever…” Ribbon said shakily, her wings twitching. Ripple tapped her foot and ran her fingers over the sides of her glasses, which were both tells she was nervous or overwhelmed. She brought her hands together, and sparks of silvery-pink magic crackled in the area above them.
“There isn’t really anything we can do,” she said. Ribbon shook her head and sat up.
“Yeah there is,” she said, and Ripple turned to look at her, her massive wings pointing up.
“What would that be?” she asked. Ribbon cleared her throat and fluttered up to be eye level with Ripple.
“You’re magic,” Ribbon said. “All of us fairies are, but you especially. You can probably just make her stop getting older!” Ripple’s eyes widened in shock. She looked at her hands.
“Ribbon, I’m not sure how that would work,” Ripple said. “I don’t even remember I am magic most of the time.” Ribbon looked down in thought.
“How does your magic work?” Ribbon asked. She had never actually seen Ripple do any magic before. Ripple waved her hand in a circle.
“I just think about something happening to an object or person while touching them, and it happens,” she explained. “Also creating small defensive shields or picking up things without needing to touch them. I’m not close to being full grown yet, so obviously my skills are much more limited now.” Ribbon fluttered closer to Ripple, who took a step back.
“So just think about making Adeleine never get any older and live forever,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “Please.” Ribbon was shaking. She knew of one other thing she could try, but she wasn’t willing to risk it unless Ripple stubbornly refused. But she was the Crystal’s guardian and now one of the saviors of the universe, and Ripple was always kind. Ripple nodded.
“Alright,” she said. “When I give them the medals at the ceremony later tonight, I’ll do it.” Ribbon smiled, tears welling up in her eyes, and zipped over to Ripple, hugging her.
“Thank you, Queen Ripple,” she said, crying tears of joy. “Thank you thank you thank you thank you.” She heard Ripple laugh, and then she hugged her back.
“Just Ripple,” she said. Ribbon giggled. She was ecstatic. Adeleine would be okay.
The ceremony was significantly less crowded than what Ribbon had been expecting. All of the people from other planets had left after the initial meeting with the heroes. There were still plenty of fairies though, all of whom understood the importance of ceremonies, especially when crystals were involved as a gift. Ribbon was fluttering around in one of the many halls that led out from the main hall, currently being blocked off by guards with pointy spears made of crystals.
Ribbon peeked out again to see her four friends standing up on the stage, and Ripple behind the stage, taking medals from another fairy who flew off. Ripple looked over and saw Ribbon, and beckoned her over. Ribbon flew over as fast as she could, and hovered beside Ripple. Fanfare played as Ripple began walking up the side stairs, and Ribbon stayed close to her. Ripple presented all of the heroes with a medal. Dedede stuck out his chest as Ripple put his on, and Waddle Dee’s was far too big for him and just fell to the floor. Ripple loosely draped Adeleine’s medal over her, and then put Kirby’s form fitting one on. Ribbon looked nervously at Ripple. She hadn’t done it. She looked over at Kirby, and fluttered up to him, giving him a small kiss as a show of appreciation for all he had done. Kirby didn’t say a word, but blushed deeply and walked across the stage giddily, nearly falling down the stairs.
“Watch out!” Waddle Dee yelled, but Kirby had already tumbled down them. There were a few laughs in the audience. Ribbon looked away bashfully. That was entirely her fault. She looked back over to see Ripple stopping Adeleine from falling after him trying to grab him. She put a hand on Adeleine’s chest close to her heart, and Ribbon saw the sparkles of magic. Adeleine didn’t seem to notice, instead adjusting her medal.
“Now that’s what I call crashing a party,” Dedede said, pointing at Kirby. There was an uproar from the audience, and both Waddle Dee and Adeleine rolled their eyes. Ripple waved both of her hands, her sleeves falling over them as she did.
“Everyone, thank you for attending,” she said. “This is a very special occasion, but I’m sure you’ve all already heard it. Our planet has been freed of Dark Matter, and the rest of the universe saved from it, thanks to these lovely heroes. Including our very own Ribbon!” Everyone cheered, and Ribbon smiled and waved to the crowd. “Now, enough with the thematics. Everyone, make your way to the dining hall for a feast befit for the saviors of the world!” Everyone moved to the hall to the left, with Waddle Dee helping Kirby up, who excitedly ran to the dining hall. Ribbon stayed with Ripple, who followed after everyone else.
“Thank you,” Ribbon said, nearly crying again. Ripple gave her a small smile.
“If it makes you this happy, it couldn’t possibly be bad,” Ripple replied. Ribbon nodded, and flew after her friends. Everyone was already being seated, with the heroes near the head of the table. Ribbon took the seat right next to Adeleine, who had picked up her spoon and was running it over the table as if it were a paintbrush and the table a canvas. She looked over at Ribbon and smiled.
“Hi Ribbon!” she said. “Where were you earlier?” Ribbon flicked her wings and waved a hand dismissively.
“Just doing my required ‘Guardian of the Great Crystal of Ripple Star’ stuff,” she said. Adeleine laughed.
“You should’ve been out there,” Adeleine told her. “Everyone was so nice! I mean, they asked some weird questions. Like about wh… well, that doesn’t really matter.” Ribbon could tell what it was based off how her tone changed. Someone asked her about the extinction of humanity. Ribbon smiled to herself. Now they would never have to worry about humans truly going extinct.
“Hey Adeleine?” Ribbon asked. Adeleine looked at her inquisitively.
“Yeah?” she replied, her beret slightly falling off her head.
“You’re my best friend!” Ribbon declared. Adeleine smiled wider than Ribbon had seen her smile.
“You’re my best friend too!” she said. Ribbon giggled, and kicked her feet happily while her wings fluttered.
“We’ll be best friends forever,” Ribbon said. Adeleine smiled at that. She didn’t understand the serious weight they had to them.
“Forever is a long time,” Adeleine said, “are you sure about that?” Ribbon laughed to herself.
“I’m absolutely certain,” Ribbon said very matter of factly. “Forever.” Adeleine gently tussled Ribbon’s hair, and Ribbon stuck her wings out and immediately went to fix it. As she did, the food was brought out, and everyone began to eat. Adeleine grabbed a small sandwich off a passing by plate and scarfed it down. Ribbon grabbed a bowl of fruit salad, and watched Adeleine as she talked with Dedede across the table. Her eyes were full of bright, youthful energy.
And Ribbon didn’t even have to cherish it in that moment.
Wow that was a lot longer than I intended it to be, whoops
So uhh… yeah. Ribbon just really likes her new friend. Adeleine never really finds out about this. She isn’t even aware of how much time is going by. Also yes, Ribbon is supposed to seem ever so slightly sinister! Fairies aren’t usually the good guys in folklore, you know
Adeleine only finds out much, much later on when she says she can’t believe so much has happened in just a couple years and is informed that it’s been centuries years since Zero Two was an issue. Susie then tells her that she should be much older than she is, and Adeleine obviously has a freak out over that
But does she ever find out it was Ribbon..?
(Also because you liked this concept and were the one who actually finally gave me the motivation [and set up] to post it- @desultory-novice. Obviously had to compress it a ton in that comment because of character limit)
“Hey Ribbon?” Adeleine asked her fairy friend as they laid in the grass. Everyone else was at Dedede’s castle welcoming the Beast Pack to visit, but Adeleine wanted nothing to do with anything related to the New World. Instead she had decided to go out into the fields with Ribbon and spend the day that way.
“Yeah?” Ribbon replied. Adeleine twiddled her thumbs as she looked up at the sunny blue sky of Pop Star.
“How long is forever?”

normally, i'm not one to claim to be particularly good at creating original designs. i'm working on improving that, but i still don't really think i'm at that point yet.
however, there is one element of my solaris' design that i do really adore. if not for the way that it looks visually, then for its narrative purpose.
i think that solaris has a prosthetic beneath her eye. if you don't want the socket to collapse, it's pretty much essential to have one. if you took off the patch, there would still be something there.
but i like to keep it on when i draw her. because of the branding. the zoraxis insignia.
it is very clear to me- to just about anyone, really- that solaris and zor don't seem to get along. zor doesn't indulge her personal projects, despite that being the reason she agreed to work under them in the first place. solaris is curt and insubordinate with them- despite knowing full well what they're capable of. zor doesn't give her the proper resources to live healthily on the death engine. solaris abandons them the first chance she gets.
it's a give and take. both of them prodding and pestering and snarling at one another. they stay with each other out of necessity. really, it's the only explanation... zor has 'fired' lesser employees over matters far more trivial than what solaris has demonstrated.
but, when you take the death engine into consideration, everything gets turned on its face.
to me, i think the death engine was a critical turning point in their relationship. a dramatic change for the worse. solaris is quite confident in her abilities as an engineer- and why shouldn't she be, with all that she's shown to have made?
but zor exploits any weakness they can find. they seek out weaknesses specifically to pick people apart- hell, they did it with prism before they had any clue how much she was worth. and the death engine's failure was more than a weakness.
solaris' eyepatch- the zoraxis insignia stitched into it- is a cattle brand. it's a turning point in their dynamic. solaris has failed, and as a result, she has lost what power she held over them. she is no longer of better use to them alive than she is dead.
post the death engine, talking out of turn becomes lethal. asking for too much becomes lethal. taking up too much space. thinking for herself. zor doesn't need her anymore.
which means- as much as she loathes it- she has to bow her head, hold her tongue, and defer. the death engine took her eye from her, but zor took away whatever remained of her pride.

You know, Daisy and Sousa's baby would've turn 2 years old today
And if you're wondering how/why let meee explain:
The agents of shield finale episode aired on August 13th, 2020, and during the finale episode, Simmons gave Daisy the anatomy analysis test result. And, as we all know, most dousy shippers (including myself, obviously) predicted that Daisy's anatomy analysis would include a pregnancy test result. (cuz ya know Daisy and Sousa have stay together in space for over a year,, so ifykwim( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))
Average pregnancy lasts about 38-40 weeks (280 days) and August 13th 2020-May 12th 2021 is approximately 38 weeks ish (272 days) though 38 weeks birth is considered as an early term baby, but from what i researched, babies born at 38 weeks is normal
Aaaand since average pregnancy would last around 280 days, dousy baby's due date would actually be on May 20th.
But yeah! Anyways that's just an explanation based on my research lol. If theres anything wrong feel free to correct me! Sorry for the grammar mistakes, english isnt my first language so yeah :]
Not very sure on what else to add but my personal headcanon for dousy baby is, his name is Jordan Philip Sousa-Johnson and he was born in space at May 12th 2021 (7:09am)
Also friendly reminder that this is just my headcanon n stuff ywaaah (*^▽^)/★*☆♪
So uhh.. happy 2nd birthday to Jordan!!💙💜🎉 We all (??) wish you are very canon

its like. 2am but I am once again trying to put some kind of structure to whatever the fuck the continuity of the two main mianite timelines is supposed to be, while maintaining what was previously established that Isles is the past version of the S1 World and making whatever post canon shit ive written still work
like bro hwat is this
Tumblr media
(Ignore the hermitcraft thing for now im still trying to decide if VH!Jordan is an extracted variant from the memories/essence of S1/S2 c!Jordan or if he’s been from a whole different timeline who experienced the happenings of Mianite but a little to the left)

my strongest aa voice headcanon in the world is michael rupert as kristoph like it's obscene how perfect he is for him and i could do that one thing and point to blood in the water from legally blonde because... yeah, fitting, but it's been said. so instead i will recommend my personal delightful practice of listening to him in march of the falsettos/falsettoland because while not all of it is fitting (obviously) when it is it's CRAZY!!! also in unlikely lovers he says "right" in a way that is sooo obscene to misinterpret as him saying wright (i love it.) Also hearing him say sickly sweet things and sputter pet names? SOOO GROSS (i love it.) highly recommended experience #krisnix (I LOVE IT)

or it could mean that regis never had a soul in the first place to be with the rest of the hanza’s in the afterlife

I never was into Monster High and the younger-demographic reboot appeals to me even less tbh, but honestly I have half a mind to seek it out in the faint, vain hope that it might encourage Mattel to reboot Ever After High. But on the other hand Ever After High's original design was so charming because of the elements which are now becoming charmingly dated to the early 2010s, so I just know an official redesign would just always be disappointing even though fan redesigns are always super cool. And the whole fairy-tale fad is over, I guess -- I bet there are still little kids who love it like I did, but the market is saturated (and apparently Descendants is still active, and I know they're still publishing their Disney fanfiction AU books...) -- so there's little hope on that front. But I'm bringing Ever After High back into my life myself anyways. Wayback Machine saves of the old website and my books will suffice <3
Edit: wait something is GOING ON right now?? something peculiar and iffy but SOMETHING!!

I think one of the interesting tidbits I garnered from the special was that Kyle seemed to be the one to stay back home in South Park. I generally always imagined him to be one of the ones to be the most eager to get the hell away from town, but instead that was more Stan, in that case at least. It really compounded the feeling for Kyle that I also have which is that despite a bit of a prickly exterior, Kyle is really sentimental, and obviously family-oriented. Maybe even attached too, because of feeling alienated.

reminding myself that what i think is hot/fun doesn't always line up with the choices dola would make but god it is so fun playing dolls sometimes
#repeating this to myself bc i still think that between the five people i like for dola in genshin i still think that#between all of them she'd choose diluc and diluc would make the choice to do something with his own feelings#(as opposed to kaeya who wouldnt make a move and kaveh + alhaitham just wouldnt be options in dola's consideration.#and dola doesn't spend enough time in sumeru to really have a chance for her feelings to change/grow#childe is off the table bc of headcanon reasons + i also think dola wouldnt ever go for him no matter what her own feelings are)#like. kaeyasach still feels on the table bc um. i have headcanons abt diluc's fate i dont like voicing out here but with where the game#is taking place rn its def a dilusach route..? it's at least the route the feels the most fun to write and most natural for dola#+++++ i truly do love dola and kaeya as friends so tight it feels neither romantic or platonic or familial and is a secret 4th thing.#like its so fun. former childhood crushes on each other that reunite thanks to a tragedy and then they help each other deal with the grief#that theyve both been dealing with. both terribly alone but then fnding that maybe they arent and can rely on each other. idk. it just#feels like either they should be platonic soulmates OR they have the world's slowest burn ever#and it feels really meaningful to me that dola does her best to support him and even look into khaenriah for him as a friend than a partner#+ feels like it'd be more meaningful to kaeya too.#idk im having thoughts shdfjksdf this always happens when i see nice kaeya art and analysis and im second guessing dola's canon

in all seriousness 🤓. sorry i love saying that. but in all seriousness i think people need to get more comfortable with actually identifying and discussing homophobia even in the small perhaps unintentional ways it crops up, in fandom specifically, and stop automatically jumping to: but doing x doesn't make you homophobic, but people don't have to like a popular gay ship if they don't want to, but people have different headcanons, but they don't mean it in x way they mean it in y way, but accusing someone of homophobia is serious, but homophobia is serious, but they're literally gay they can't be homophobic, but it's not that deep, but no one is doing it maliciously, but people will always think this, but heteronormativity, BUT ANYTHING... sometimes people say homophobic things unintentionally. sometimes people are not being malicious or cruel but have an internalised bias. homophobia is as much a part of society as every other ist and ism and phobia and i think people need to like ACCEPT that and move on instead of immediately deflecting or denying let alone ignoring it but also this entire concept does or course apply to all bigotry especially those inherent in online communities/certain fanbases... transphobia transmisogyny misogyny racism antisemitism and more live at home in fandom!!
i think it is far more helpful, AND KIND, to be able to point out ways people can improve and to try and make people understand WHY they're thinking the way they are. i don't understand the absolute heels dug in backlash these kinds of things tend to produce at least on an outer level (because i do KNOW why i just think it's ridiculous) and i especially don't understand when people assign any sort of discussion like this as automatically negative or drama or discourse or whatever EITHER. and like yes sometimes it is stressful and i get that but personally i will always feel safer and more comfortable and positive around someone who tries to better their communities in ways where they do attempt to foster a better environment for everyone, and part of that is pointing out and dismantling bigotry when it comes up
and i'm not saying you have to force yourself to involve yourself in topics and with people that make you uncomfortable OF COURSE but it is not like, bad to do so either. bigots should not feel as safe as they do existing among us all and THAT is all you're doing when you roll over onto your back to expose your belly and say "let's just keep things positive okay!!!!! i don't want drama let's all just get along!!!!!" because like yes of course but also like. no. lol. also i have self respect and don't want to rub elbows with people who have bias against me or my community that does not make me a bad person it doesn't make me anything. you don't have to run a discourse blog (which are stupid) or post constantly about the intricacies of bigotry (which is tiring) but it shouldn't be a nails digging in blood drawing experience to occasionally say "stop being fucking bigots on my blog"
