Shalom everybody:
I want to share this with you:
The anti-Semitism of the neighbors became more noticeable now that we are in Hanukkah... (we are new here, and we live in a non-Jewish neighborhood, since in our city the community is less concentrated). So, as halacha says, we lit the candles near a window facing the street so they would be visible. I made posters...
Then a neighbor began to tell the children that those lights are witchcraft and (other horrible things that I don't even want to write). Imagine our anger...After that, those same children asked about the candles and we told them about G-d's miracles that happened on Chanukah.
All this gives us strength, Hashem's light is above all darkness of gossip and He fights for us!
Happy Chanukah from Argentina

hot take: stop sharing posts abt israel's supposed war crimes where the only source is some random tweet with a single random grainy image. it's stupid, it's offensive, it's playing into the hands of antisemites, and it makes you look like a stupid antisemite.

Pigs off Campus!
(College Revolt is Back in Style.)
Stephen Jay Morris
4/23/2024
©Scientific Morality
Here is a nifty little analogy:  suppose your dad gave money to your uncle to buy a gun so that he could shoot his ex-wife? Would your dad be guilty of murder?  Kind of.  He would be an accessory to murder. Suppose your country gave weapons to another country to commit genocide? Would it be guilty of genocide? Sort of, as they would be an accessory to a war crime. So, is it justifiable for Americans to protest Israel’s genocide against Palestinians? Hell, yeah! Not only is it justified, but it is also warranted.
Now I am going to play a game of comparative history. The Chuds have been whining and bitching about how college professors are brainwashing their precious White children with leftist propaganda. Back in 1968, most universities were run by Right wing, WASP men in suits and ties. College professors were either moderates or conservative. Only the Arts departments were managed by liberals and Beatniks. Baby Boomers were never brainwashed by college professors. They were autodidactic and hungry for the truth. Some joined the “Ban the Bomb” movement and later, the Civil Rights movement.
The urgency of the war at hand got ahold of Boomers. Many Vietnamese women and children along with American soldiers were dying by the hundreds, as was reported on the nightly news. A minority of Boomers felt helpless and wanted to stop the killing. So, they resorted to protests and strikes on university campuses. These acts were coordinated by two major student groups: the Black Student Union and Students for a Democratic Society, other wise known as SDS. I joined SDS in 1969. The only communication avenues we had at the time were printed fliers, underground newspapers, and FM rock stations. Oh, and let’s not forget the telephone. The FBI loved tapping them. If we’d had the technology Zoomers have today, we would have stopped the Vietnam War in 1967.
In 1968, the anti-war movement went international, from Europe to Africa to South America. Most of the world was opposed to the Vietnam War.
So, is this latest movement against Likud Party’s genocide on the Palestinian people a new Anti-War movement? As sure as the Earth is round! Now all this of this carping about Anti-Semitism is no different than when the New Left was accused of being Anti-American. Neither is true! There is a Jewish sect called, “Keturei Karta,” who believe that there can be no Israel until the Messiah comes. Many Jews do not accept Jesus as the Jewish messiah. Now, let me ask you. Is this orthodox sect antisemitic or just comprised of your average self-hating Jews? Shit no dumbass!
In 1968, we waved Vietcong flags and were accused of being communists. It was all done in the name of solidarity. Now the Palestinian flag is waved. Nothing has changed. We did have contingencies of Tankies, and other types of communist groups, who marched with us and chanted slogans that didn’t reflect the true sentiment of the movement’s coalition. Here are a couple I remember: “America must die! Let the red flag fly!”  and “Get a clue! Fuck the red, white, and blue!” There were other silly ones I’ve long since forgotten.
Now you have Islamic nationalist groups doing the same thing. The Chants of “Death to America” come from small, Muslim, theocratic groups who are not affiliated with the Anti-authoritarian Left. Due to rumors and erroneous propaganda, the Left, as a rule, do not support Islam. Why? Well, because many of them does not support organized religion! Second, Islam, like Christianity and Judaism, are sexist religions.
It was the Battle of Seatle, in 1999, that gave me hope. Then came the occupation movement of 2011, and now, this anti-war movement of 2024. If they can pull this off, the movement’s young people can stop this so-called war in the Middle East. As for the young people in Israel, will they rise up and stop Likud Party? That remains to be seen.

A song explaining nethanyahu's trials
It is based on the song "I did it" by Jimbo Jay, which talks about the expirience of a freed solider, and also criticises the usage of the word "do" instead of the correct verb (did instead of played, smoked, had sex with etc.)
translation:
I did it * 13 what is "I bribed"? I did a favor I helped some friend with visa buisness Didn't google him, they say he's a milioner Firgen a champaign, a jewel for the wife (firgen is a verb meaning had given respect and gave something) So I did respect for him, It's a way of life later I did a meeting with Nony (Moses, the owner of the news site Walla) write that I am a dreamy PM And I will close Israel Hayom (A different news site, funded mainly by bibi, competing with him) But I did a prank on him, it isn't for real for nothing Ari Haro pressed record (A key withness) It's all on political grounds I swear I didn't
do \ did it * 7 n't did it * 7
what is "I Combined?" (Combina, from the word "combine" in english, meaning a sleasy and cheap deal) I did a deal! I got from Merkel a pretty wonderous price for a bunch of submarines that we really don't need But you "don't do the math" when it comes to security Financial security for my cousin, Shimron Who by the way never told me anything Not him, and not the commander of the navy when they asked me "are you related to the deal?" I did, I did a fool's face I said "Me? I am not related to that What's a submarine? is it something at sea? Ask the (judicial) advisor that I appointed I am telling you, I didn't"
do \ did it * 7 n't did it * 7
(my favorite part of the song, stops talking about the trials and starts to talk about:)
But leave that aside for the moment. I didn't do peace, no give or takes, I didn't do much about the reactor in Iran I didn't do anything to decrease the differences (between social classes) I didn't do anything to lower the prices So how did I win elections anyway? I did what I know how to do (turned and did are the same word here, and the meaning is turned the public opinion of) I turned police to liars The Prison service to cowards The Supreme court to subversives The leftists to traitors The handicapped to traffic I defecated on the President I turned half of my people to sours (also pickles, referencing a speech he made in which he talked this way about anyone who isn't poor) In short I:
Incited * 32

Mornings and Evenings with Jesus
Tumblr media
by William Jay
Morning, December 9th
"Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might; let not the rich man glory in his riches: but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth; for in these things I delight, saith the Lord. " – Jeremiah 9:23-24
This prohibition shows us at once the propensity there is in man to glory in man.; it reminds us of the source of his boast, and glorying in some possession or quality of his own,-as we here see, in his wisdom, or in his might, or in his riches. Though these three articles alone are mentioned, they are very comprehensive, and are found to contain all that feeds human vanity and pride. We should always be very careful as to what we glory in, as it at once shows what we are, whether wise or foolish, whether carnal or spiritual, whether earthly or heavenly; and because of its influence, for whatever we much admire, value, and commend will operate so as to convert the mind into its own nature. And whether the subject be virtuous or base, or noble or abject, this will be the result.
If it be little, it will contract the mind; if base, it will degrade it; if noble, it will elevate it; if sacred, it will sanctify it. In what, then, it may be asked, should we glory? Let us turn to the children of light; let us look at the heirs of salvation; let us appeal to the Scriptures of truth. What is the language of the evangelical prophet when predicting the coming reign of the Messiah? “In his name,” says he, “shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.” They shall not only be justified, but they “shall glory” in him. And in what part, so to speak, are they to glory? Not only in his grandeur, but in his love; not in his throne, but in his cross; according to the language of the Apostle Paul, “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”
Here we see in what this eminent servant of Christ gloried. It was not in his parts as a man, nor in his attainments as a scholar, nor in his privileges as a Jew, nor in his strictness as a Pharisee, nor in his freedom as a Roman, nor in his usefulness as a minister, nor in his gifts and achievements as an apostle. Nay, he rejects the thought, and by a kind of oath exclaims, “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Hello everyone! My name is Jay or JayJay, I am 20 years old and go by he/him pronouns ONLY. I am a Hispanic trans male. [🇵🇷]
Tumblr media
To start off i’m a self shipper of Idia Shroud, If you’re a self shipper of him as well DO NOT follow me. I DO NOT and WILL NOT share him.
I’m a big book lover and writer, I love music, and tattoos. I’m a big cat person and I’m someone who is a huge hopeless romantic. I will be talking about twst, obey me, cats, danmei (tgcf, svsss, and mdzs) and anything that interests me.
I am a trans male and any types of fem pronouns or compliments make me uncomfortable especially the ones “adorable” and “gorgeous” as well as sometimes the word “cute”. Do not refer to me with any “girly” things as it spikes my dysphoria and I’d rather not deal with that LMFAO.
I have bad adhd and I am autistic so sometimes I can’t understand if I did something wrong or not. If I do something wrong dm me privately. I also have other mental health issues that I’d rather not mention on here but please understand that sometimes I will go inactive.
Dni : racist, transphobic/homophobic, fatphobic, ableist, support Israel, yume with idia

COLLISION 14/10/23
Setting foundations
Tumblr media
Collision opens with Adam Copeland who is here to address Christian's comments. Before the Rated R Superstar can speak, security make their way to the ring followed by Christian Cage. There is one enhanced talent in a brown suit. He looked important but didn't do anything noteworthy. Christian is still the best heel as he continues to be a real bastard. Bryan Danielson, Big Bill, Ricky Starks and the former champs, FTR come to the ring as everyone is ready to brawl. Starks and Adam take some fun shots at each other while Danielson demands the match for the TNT Championship right now. Of course, that doesn't happen because wrestlers should not have the power to demand such things. This was a criticism I had with Smackdown this past week. The commentators inform us that the main event will remain the main event. This was an enjoyable segment as it featured some of AEW top stars
SEQUE!!!
Due to the Israel-Hamas war there was some controversy last week when Juice Robinson threatened to hit MJF with a roll of quarters. I didn’t find this segment to be offensive. MJF being pelted with quarters has been a part of this character’s history. I merely saw this as Robinson taking a shot at a weak point in Max's life. Wrestling is also art, and art always reflects the climate we're in. AEW addressed this controversial segment where MJF and other leaders in sport met up to send a positive message regarding antisemitism. This showcased the real side of Max which was refreshing to see during this babyface run.
Samoa Joe defended his TV title against Willie Mack. I have no idea who Willie Mack is, but I liked what I saw. The match up was great as Joe and Mack are similar in size. At one point Mack leaped over the top rope and almost took out the announce table. Willie also gave us the unforgiving nipple twisters. There was also a point where Joe powerslammed Mack and it looked real rough. This was a bout worth checking out.
CJ Perry is backstage once again. She makes it clear she wants to manage. Action Andretti steps up and requests Perry's services. Perry doesn’t say yes or no, but giggles after he leaves. The excitement she emoted is that of a schoolgirl who finds out her crush likes her back. Later, Miro appears as he tosses Andretti's corpse to the side. He says, "I am willing to destroy every man to protect the one woman." which is weird. Didn't he want nothing to do with CJ? But at the same time, he doesn't want her to manage anyone. I find the whole thing strange, but it will be interesting to see who she lands with.
The Fallen Angel makes an appearance in gods knows how long. Man, I remember when he was featured with Kazarian and Scorpio Sky during the early days of AEW…any who, he is up against Juice Robinson. It was an okay match that added more heat onto Juice who promises to win the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale so he can face MJF and take the ring. There was a mention of the man in the devil mask but no follow up from the people who attacked Jay yet.
Skye Blue is now a heel since she’s been sprayed by mist from Julia Hart. Blue took on Kris Statlander is a decent match. I’m always impressed by Statlander's strength. Of course, the TBS champion would retain, but I think it was important that Blue gets some character progression and there seems to be more to the story as Willow Nightingale came to the ring post-match to care of Blue as she told Statlander to leave.
Another good match was the Bryan Danielson versus Christian Cage for the TNT Championship in what felt like a real main event match. Danielson stretched Christian in horrific ways while the champ worked on Bryan's right arm. Ultimately Christian retained due to Big Bill and Ricky Starks getting involved. Also, due to the injured right arm, the LeBell Lock could not be used to its full effect.
There was so much going on in this show that I don’t have time to reflect on, but a lot of it was to build storylines. AEW needed to rework its foundation and start to mould it's show in a clear direction. It's just a matter of sticking with what they are presenting and follow through.

Between Narcissism and Altruism
Stephen Jay Morris
3/28/2024
©Scientific Morality
The voices in my head clutter up the canyons of my mind. “Don’t be a victim!” “Man up!” “Do it yourself!” “Get off my lawn!” “What are you looking at?” “Be a man!” “Ring, ring on the telephone!” “Monday is the deadline!” “Don’t be so selfish!” “You’ve got to think about yourself sometimes!” “Oh! My Bob!” Shut the fuck up! SHUT UP!
I do care. I really do. When women and children are starving to death, being maimed, and killed by weapons of war, and you express that emotion, most conservatives say, “Why don’t you adopt them and have them sleep in your garage!” Most conservatives are narcissists. Certain political ideologies attract those with personality disorders. Sociopaths make personal liberty into malignant selfishness. That sentiment ranges from libertarians to Paleo-conservatives: Me first, my family second, and my country on third base.
Oh, those on the left, on the other hand, are neurotic, clinically depressed, anal retentive, and emotionally wrecked. At one point, some smart-ass yells out, “The whole world is fucked up!” To which I reply, “No. Just you.”
You know what is acceptable? To hate people and despise the world. But if you declare, “I hate the Irish!”—Watch out! You’re a bigot! If you hate the world, you are seen as a prophet from God. Is it acceptable to hate all except for one group of people? If you hate all countries, then you are an Anarchist terrorist. However, if you love America, but hate all other countries, you are a Patriot!
So, let’s review: Collective hatred is just fine. Specific hatred for a particular race is unacceptable. Why is that? I’ll tell you, boobie: On the left, there is the belief of international solidarity. On the right, it’s tribalism. Stick to your own kind.
Now the main problem with the right is this gigantic contradiction: Individualism versus National pride. You remember that lunatic, Ayn Rand? Not only was she an atheist, but she believed that the rights of the individual triumphed over loyalty to their country. AKA: dying for your country is a sucker’s game. So, do you put your personal liberty over loyalty to your country? According to Ayn Rand, you put yourself over the state.
Where do I stand politically? Does it matter? I realized, over the years, that I am not special. I try my best to be a good person. Now, in America, selfish people outnumber the good. You need a magnifying glass to find them. Morality does not come from a compass; it comes from the conjunction of your left brain and your right brain. Once you fine tune it, then you are in business.
When I was young, my priority was to save the Vietnamese people from the American bombers destroying their homeland. Every night, the news gave up the death tolls while we ate our T.V. dinners. So, we protested and got arrested. It was better than going to the high school football game! I think and feel that we did the right thing.
Now, Israel’s Likud Party is running a near six-month campaign of committing genocide on innocent Palestinian men, women, and children in Gaza. What can I do? Protest? Write a letter to my congressman? Bomb a building? I don’t care if you think this is a major copout, but I am tired, I suffer from comorbidity ailments, and I have chronic pain in various parts of my body. As such, I do nothing. The young people are managing just fine without me.
If I knew I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself. I am 70.

Open To Debate On TikTok; Unbreakable Podcast With Former Baseball GM; Scripted Emo Prom Night Podcast
Tumblr media
Today we have three podcasts that span the genre universe of podcasting.  First up is Open To Debate, which is the superb debate podcast that teaches the media how to hold civilized and informative debates instead of partisan screaming matches. Then, one of the best podcasts dealing with mental health issues, Unbreakable with Jay Glazer talks with the former General Manager of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team about his mental health journey. Finally, the very creative Audio Up studio offers listeners a unique scripted fiction podcast.
***************************************************
With the Senate currently poised to take up the just-passed House bill forcing China-based parent company ByteDance to either sell TikTok or face a national ban, tying it to a broader package sending aid to Israel and Ukraine to speed its passage, nonpartisan debate podcast Open to Debate recently shared a debate on a very timely question: "Should The U.S. Ban TikTok?"
Foreign policy and defense expert Kori Schake argued Yes. Director of the Internet Governance Project Milton Muellera argued No. Emmy-winning host John Donvan moderated. And several journalists including Forbes' Emily Baker-White, whose data was improperly accessed by ByteDance employees, joined to ask questions.
Kori Schake, arguing Yes, said:
“There are two concerns about TikTok. The first is the data being amassed and potentially used as surveillance by China. Second is the potential for it to be a propaganda tool by what its artificial intelligence and algorithm bounce into our feeds. As people increasingly use it as a media platform, China has the ability to censor and boost content on it, which it did during the Hong Kong protests and which it does over Xinjiang repression. What TikTok has said is, ‘We won’t do it anymore.’ I don’t think we ought to take that as a definitive answer. I think we’re right to be concerned about the potential for that kind of manipulation. I think there is the basis for legitimate concern about the Chinese government, manipulation of media content, and collection and use of data.”
Milton Mueller, arguing No, said:
“This is really a political case, a foreign policy case. There are people who believe in decoupling from China, and they’re going to interpret any Chinese company, any economic connection between the US and China as a threat. This is exactly what I’m challenging. I think TikTok is a perfect example of how a foreign company can come and introduce competition and valuable services into the American market. They can provide a form of platform communication that Americans love and benefit from and they can create economic value. There’s really no evidence that this is harming the United States.”
Listen to the Open to Debate episode "Should The U.S. Ban TikTok?" wherever you get podcasts, via WNYC, or at opentodebate.org.
**********************************************
On Unbreakable with Jay Glazer: A Mental WEALTH Podcast,” host Jay Glazer welcomes former Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim, who opens up for the first time about going to rehab while serving as G.M. of the team, and the issues he was battling that led him to make changes in his life.
On why he’s telling his story now:
… “it's funny because when I walked into the room to do this podcast, I felt that sort of, not anxiety, but sort of that little bit of excitement, actually, to be able to tell my story, and hopefully, my story helps someone …maybe somebody else out there, maybe another general manager, maybe another athlete can say, ‘you know what, here's just another guy that has had his issues along the way and was able to talk about it and to be open and honest.’”
On what led him to go to rehab during the season:
“Here I am making the most money I've ever made in my life. You know, more than I could ever imagine making as a young man, living my dream as a general manager, and I was still unhappy. …I'm sitting there trying to ask myself, what's wrong with you? Just get out of this funk. And it was not easy to do, and I couldn't get out of it, and it just got darker and darker. I got more depressed. And really the culmination of what really happened, it probably was the worst part of it, was my inability to sleep. I got to a point where I couldn't even shut my brain off. So, I couldn't sleep. I was taking Xanax, I was taking Ambien just to sleep…”
 On the darkness he felt:
“…one thing I learned… which was a great learning lesson for me in the treatment centers, sometimes for guys like ourselves or ‘Type A,’ alpha males, guys who are so driven to be the best, you know, it can become a real predicament whenever you get into a situation where when is it enough?  And you know, that's kind of how it was for me. …Money is not enough. How many cars do I need? How many houses do I need? How many things do I need? How many suits do I need? How many watches do I need? Just nothing was gratifying anymore either.”
On what he’s learned as he continues his mental health treatment:
“…the day I walked into the treatment center as the General Manager of the Arizona Cardinals. Knowing that that changed everything in my life. Could have been for the good, bad, or whatever anybody else thought about it. But when I walked out that other end, 45 days later, I found out who Steve Keim was. I liked who he was. And I embraced the things that he did in the past. I forgave him for the things he did in the past. And more than anything, I found a way to love him again.”
On former Arizona Cardinals executive Terry McDonough’s accusations against the team:
“Oh, it's just unfortunate to me, you know, because again, as I said, the stress that I carried that I was trying to keep people happy in every sort of compartment. And that really would tear at you whenever you knew that people couldn't get along. And there were things that went on behind the scenes that maybe only I knew about, or some others knew about, that they were just tough to know that I couldn't fix certain things. Because I always felt like I was the kind of guy that my mentality was always, you know, be part of the solution, not part of the problem, and keep everybody's attitude in the right direction, and roll your sleeves up at the door and check your ego there, and that sort of thing. But it's unfortunate, you know, we had a good run and, you know, I'm still rooting for the organization because again, a lot of people there that I care about.
On whether he’s happier now or when he was a GM:“Oh, I mean, much happier now. Much happier. Yeah, I mean, you know, when the paychecks stop coming in and fans stop screaming, there's certainly an evolution of life that changes for you. Things slow down, and you miss certain parts of your life in the past. But at the same time, you can finally, again, appreciate the small things. As we said, you know, at a point in time, how many cars, how much money, whatever it is, how many watches. Now, you know, to go on a walk and to see a beautiful day and appreciate that, it changes everything.”
On whose decision it was to get help:
“Leading up to it, you know, I had enough people, again, friends, family, coworkers, Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwill even came, our owner came and sat with me multiple times and said, ‘hey, you know, you don’t seem like yourself.’ And I didn't know what it was, but I'd also didn't try to hide from it. I told him straight up, ‘yeah, I'm not doing good. I don't know what's wrong with me.’ And you know, he was great and supportive. There's a difference between acknowledging and saying, ‘hey, I don't know what's wrong with me and I'm not perfect,’ versus ‘I really need some help.’" Listen the full conversation HERE.

 – SiriusXM and Audio Up Inc. are taking listeners back in time to 2005 with their new scripted podcast series, Emo Prom Night.  The launch is part of a new slate of podcasts set for release throughout the year, with Emo Prom Night being a raunchy, coming-of-age scripted series that will debut May 8th on the SiriusXM app and wherever podcasts are available.
The series was written and created by Audio Up CEO Jared Gutstadt, and stars recording artist Mod Sun and rock group Beauty School Dropout. Emo Prom Night will also feature new original music from both. The series revolves around three best friends; Dallas (voiced by Beauty School Dropout lead singer Colie Hutzler), Cos (voiced by Beauty School Dropout guitarist Bardo), and Tyson (voiced by Beauty School Dropout bassist Beepus Burdett), who embody the emo music culture from the mid-2000s, and make an Emo pact and vowing to not drink, do drugs or lose their virginity during their senior year of high school. This all changes when prom night comes around, and the cast of characters is challenged to keep their emo vows intact. The series stars Mod Sun as the narrator, and music contributions from Grammy winning and multi-platinum songwriter Sam Hollander, known for his collaborations with the likes of Panic! at the Disco, Weezer, Blink-182, Boys Like Girls and Gym Class Heroes among many others.   Check out the first official trailer HERE.
"The episodes arrive just in time for prom season,” notes Gutstadt. “They series is heartfelt and hilariously entertaining, and the music is absolutely incredible. It's one of our best examples of integrating music and storytelling, and we can't wait for the world to hear it."
The announcement marks an expansion of the creative programming and strategic agreement between Jared Gutsatdt’s Audio Up Media and SiriusXM, an alignment that was originally announced in October of 2022.   “Emo Prom Night” is set for release on May 8th and will be available on the SiriusXM app and all other major U.S. podcast platforms.
Audio Up has built an ecosystem of premium entertainment content within the music and audio space. The company is led by Audio Up CEO Jared Gutstadt and produces and releases fictional scripted podcasts, a Marvel-like universe of musicals, and one-on-one interview formats.

Mornings and Evenings with Jesus by William Jay
Tumblr media
Morning, February 28th
"He will joy over thee with singing." – Zephaniah 3:17
Observe, here is not only joy felt, but it makes itself known. For this singing (what a thought! God singing over his people!) may be heard, and it is intended to be heard, and intended to be heard by themselves. God would have them, like Enoch, have the testimony of faith with them. “The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.” How often he says to the soul, “I am thy salvation”! Alone, in the house of God, in affliction, in the valley of the shadow of death,-with regard to all these, how often have Christians said,-
“Oh! what immortal joys I felt, And raptures all divine; When Jesus told me I was his, And my Beloved mine!”
And God designs that his singing over his people should be heard by the world at large. Therefore by the prophet Isaiah he says, “Their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people; all that see them shall acknowledge them that they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed.” How often has he made a visible distinction between them and others in the dispensation of his providence! as we see in the case of Noah in the deluge, and Lot in the overthrow of Sodom, and of the Israelites in the plagues of Egypt. And if his people are allowed in public calamities to suffer with others, they do not suffer like others, for he can indemnify them by inward supports and by eternal remuneration. But he causes this to be known to others by the dispensations of his grace as well as his providence.
We know how high the godly stand in the conviction and esteem of the wicked. In company they may join in the laugh and mockery against them; but oh! when we witness them when they are alone, and when they think on that eternity on the -borders of which they must know they continually stand, how often do we find them saying, with Balaam, “How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel! let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his.” And if the wicked do not choose to hear their God making declarations of his love to them now in life,-if they choose to pass through life deceived,-another world will soon undeceive them, for “then will he return to discern between the righteous and the wicked,-between him that serveth God, and him that serveth him not.”
Wherefore, if God thus delights in his people, let others be careful how they oppose or injure them; for he that toucheth them toucheth the apple of God’s eye, that is, the tenderest part of the tenderest of all beings. Who would strike the child of a giant whilst he was standing by? Who would strike a king’s servant whilst he was present? Let men take care what they do with regard to God’s children. He has bent his bow and made ready his arrow to shoot at the persecutors. On the other hand, they are so dear to him, that all that is done for them he considers as done for himself. He says, “He that receiveth you receiveth me.” “Inasmuch as ye did it unto the least of these, ye did it unto me.” And let us be followers of God as dear children; let us judge according to God’s judgment, and let us regulate our conduct by God’s conduct.
In our eyes, let a vile person be contemned; but let us honour them that fear the Lord, whatever their external circumstances may be. Let us say, with. David, “I am a companion of all them that fear thee, of them that keep thy precepts; the saints that are in the earth, and the excellent, in whom is all my delight.”
