Captain Rex x F!Reader Pt. 1 Rex tells the story of his first love, his first heartbreak, his one last regret. Word Count: 1,166 Warnings: None (from what I can tell) A/N: This is meant to be a multiple-part story, the second chapter will be out soon!
Tumblr media
"Rex? How come you're so good with kids?" Hera's soft voice rung out in the almost empty cockpit of the Ghost. It was an early afternoon when Kanan, Ezra, Zeb and Sabine left, leaving the two captains behind. And Chopper.
They had been sent on another stealth mission, something about retrieving data on the Empires latest star fighters. Now it was the early hours of the evening, and they still weren't back.
"Huh?" He hummed as he turned around, his swivel chair squeaking in protest at the sudden movement. "What do you mean?"
He had an inkling of an idea of what she meant, though he wasn't too happy to pursue this topic. Play stupid, yes, play stupid, Rex thought as he nervously made eye contact. Maybe she'll drop it.
"Oh come on Rex, you know exactly what I mean. You're practically a second father to our youngest ones!" She exclaimed, elbowing him in the ribcage as she leaned over, egging him on.
"Beep boop!" Chopper added, his tiny, robotic arms raising into the air.
Rex left out a soft grunt at the sudden dig, recoiling into the soft cushion of his chair. He rummaged through his thoughts, trying to form the most believable lie in the next five seconds, before the two managed to catch on.
The cogs in his brain turned, working overtime as Rex dragged on the silence, scratching at his beard in thought.
After a few moments, he let out a sigh, his shoulders drooping.
"I-I'm not sure this is appropriate, Hera." His voice was soft and yet firm, he used it often on his brothers back in the day when they wanted to disobey command, he agreed, and yet followed orders like a good soldier.
In response he received a confused 'huh' before a sudden pain erupted in his shin. That goddamn clanker!
A grunt left his lips as Rex attempted to smack the top of Chopper's metallic head, a slight burning pain erupting in his palm as the robot mechanically cackled, enjoying Rex's demise.
Though to Hera and Chopper this was a sweet, lighthearted moment, to Rex it was a sticky situation. He hadn't yet told the others of this part of his past, and he wasn't sure he wanted to dip his fingertips in deeply drowned memories.
"Oh come on, you know we won't judge." Hera continued, wiggling her eyebrows at the older man. "And plus, this is great for team bonding." She wiggled her eyebrows at him, trying her best to look as convincing as possible.
The two got on well, being somewhat close in age even with Rex looking like a grandpa. He still had the refreshing energy and spirit of a young man, but he also had the knowledge and experience of an experienced veteran. How fitting.
Rex would do anything but talk about this. The room felt a little too hot for his liking, his heart beating harshly against his rib cage.
"It's a bit hot in here, isn't it?" He asked, getting up and moving over to the temperature control panel.
Though as his gaze moved from the control panel to his fellow captain, Rex couldn't help but sigh out loud, his head hanging down. "Fine. You got me."
Before she could even proclaim her victory, Hera was quickly hushed by Rex.
"Just know this doesn't have a happy ending." He warned, crossing his arms over his chest. All of a sudden, the cool steel grey of the cabin seemed more inviting to look at than his fellow crew members.
Leaning back against the wall, Rex thought over how to tell her. These.. Memories, these events, he had hidden them away deep within his subconscious, like sacred mementos in a time pod.
Only a few people were allowed to dig them back up, if they hadn't been by his side as he lived through them.
I guess it's their time now too.
A heavy sigh and a shake of his head later, Rex was feeling ready enough. As ready as he could be.
"Long ago-"
"You sound old."
"Be quiet," Rex hissed out, his words whistling out like bullets from a gun.
He could tell Hera meant it as a joke, but this wasn't something he could bring himself to joke about.
"Long ago, when I was just a shiny, I met this.. Girl."
"Ooo."
"It was during one of my first missions," He paused, observing the scratched out pattern on the floor, "She was caught in the crossfire, and I saved her." He felt his chest twist as more words spilled from his lips. Even though so many years had passed, the memories still felt as fresh as the day they were formed.
He couldn't stop now. He wouldn't.
"As we made our escape, a plasma bolt grazed her hand, and she fainted and then we defeated the bad guys and my brother Kix had gone off to tend her wound, he was a medic clone, y'know." His shoulders shook as he scoffed, remembering how well Kix had handled the situation.
"She was so.. So weird. She insisted on walking herself home, but then proceeded to get lost on our ship. So I had to find her and escort her, like a gentleman," He paused, his gaze locked onto a scratch of the ships floor, "I think that was the first time I ever felt like a human, like a man."
"From there on, we became closer. She was moved t Coruscant and so I was able to see her during every shore leave. We wrote letters to each other, we went out together, we slept together. Waking up to her by my side was like a dream come true. Until it wasn't."
At that, Hera's posture straightened out a little. She wasn't sure where this was going, and she could feel Chopper shielding himself with her leg.
"My duty to the Galactic Republic outweighed my duty.. My loyalty to her. I left her when she needed me most." He paused again, this time his shoulders shaking, tears tiptoeing at the edge of his waterline. "She wasn't my priority. And neither was Tala."
"Rex-"
"I spent so many months, weeks, days yearning for her. She was there when I closed my eyes, reaching out to me, she was as beautiful as a morning sunshine, her eyes held so much love for me. And I abandoned her." He paused, hiding his face in one hand, seemingly pushing the tears back with his thumb and forefinger. "Tala was three when I left, and I hadn't seen them since."
Silence fell over the trio. Rex didn't want to continue, and Hera was at a complete loss for words. Even Chopper, the usually chippy chirpy robot, had nothing to beep out at this.
Simply put, nobody knew that side to Rex.
"R-Rex I- I don't know what to say.."
"It's fine. I've made my peace with it." He waved her off, the tears having evaporated from his eyes in mere seconds.
"Are they.. alive?"
He felt his breath get caught in his throat, encircling and squeezing at his wind pipe like a tight fist.
"I.. I don't know."

i love all of the spectres being supportive of kalluzeb in their own ways
hera is obviously there to gently remind both of them separately that if they ever need someone to talk to (especially about relationship shit) she’s there. she’s especially gentle with kallus because she knows talking about emotional things is really difficult for him
kanan is maybe the most subtle of the crew, giving them smiles and nods whenever he notices they sneak away together and despite being blind he Always knows when their force signatures are more similar to rebellious teenagers than normal absolute tank zeb and stuck-up kallus
sabine does draw stupid little cartoons of them hugging or kissing on kal’s notes when they’re in meetings together but she also spends a lot of time with kallus even when he’s not dragged everywhere with zeb. at first it was just a supportive measure for zeb to show that she liked his partner but it slowly turned into her genuinely enjoying spending time with kallus. they like target practice together and playing card games at the tapcafe. the only thing that gets her mad at him is when he says she’s too young to drink and he “absolutely will not order” her a drink “missy”
ezra, unlike his master, is not subtle at all. all signs of affection between the two of them have him yelling “EW ZEB” and “GROSS” but he does it to show his support, strangely enough. due to a lack of space, kallus bunks with zeb when he comes along for missions (doesn’t happen much though) and ezra always makes sure to take holos of them snoring together to send to the rest of the crew because “TWO people snoring??? how am i supposed to get my beauty rest???”
chopper still makes snide comments to zeb but a lot of them are now threatening to tell kallus when he’s acting like a dumbass or when he’s picking on “kal’s favorite droid.” and of course when he’s not following hera he’s on kallus’s heels, bocking conversationally because kal always answers him and enjoys talking to the droid
sigh. kalluzeb and the ghost crew

motherhood in star wars
this has probably been discussed before, but the theme of motherhood and being a mother in the realm of star wars media has been on my mind lately.
here is my question: why is theme of motherhood in star wars so fucking tragic?
first of all, most (not all) mothers of force-sensitive children have their children taken from them at a young age so they can join the jedi order. and the worst part is that these mothers never really see their children again because the order forbids attachments. it is so heart-breaking to have your child taken from you to join a weird, cult-like order where you will never see them again. there is a sense of loss and suffering in that aspect.
then we have a plethora of characters who are mothers and DIE (leia, padmé, shmi), who lose their mothers or lose someone close to them after becoming a mother.
padmé amidala literally loses her life to complications of childbirth. she did not even get to experience motherhood before her life was ripped away from her. it's so upsetting to me because of her eagerness to raise her children with anakin and live a life of happiness with her new family.
leia is born an orphan who has no mother (yes i know she is adopted by bail and breha) but she literally comes into this world without her biological mother because her mom dies from the complications of childbirth! then, leia loses her son ben to the dark side, only to sacrifice herself in the sequels. which, causes rey distress because she was a mentor and (sort of) a maternal figure towards her!
shmi skywalker literally loses her relationship with her son after he departs with qui-gon and obi-wan. and she literally also dies after reuniting with anakin once more in aotc. she loses the one thing that meant the most to her (ani - her pride and joy!) and does not get to fulfill her role of raising him into adulthood.
while hera does have an adopted family (zeb, ezra, sabine, chopper) she does not get to experience the life with the family she created with kanan because he literally dies. while she received the ability to be a mother to jacen, she lost her spouse.
why does being a mother in the star wars universe only bring you tragedy, loss, and even your life? what do the writers have against womanhood and motherhood? i am aware there are good portrayals of motherhood in star wars, but 75% of the mothers suffer.
it's infuriating to me, and i am sure it's just rambling, but it truly is so upsetting that we do not have many feel-good, healthy, fulfilling portrayals of motherhood in star wars. women deserve to see it. everyone deserves to see it.

Second Letter to the Church of Ezrabine at Tumblr:
Today I bring you passages for meditation from one of the first of our holy scriptures: The Rebellion Begins by Michael Kogge, a must-read for any Sabezra shipper.
Tumblr media
In the beginning, a boy named Ezra Bridger had a crush on a girl named Sabine Wren, and it was evident that both the girl Sabine and the droid Chopper were aware of Ezra’s feelings.
"His mouth opened to say something, but he was at a loss for words. She could tell he liked her. A lot. That could be useful if she needed anything done in the future. Heading toward the cabin room, she heard Chopper snicker at Ezra. Funny how a droid knew more about the rules of human attraction than a human kid did." from Star Wars Rebels: The Rebellion Begins by Michael Kogge
Later, the Lasat Garazeb Orellios recognized the look upon young Ezra Bridger’s countenance as the facial expression of a love-struck teenager. Zeb also believed that Sabine did not reciprocate Ezra’s feelings at that time.
"The boy scurried back toward the closet. Zeb grabbed him and held him in place. “Can we please get rid of him?” he growled to Kanan and Hera. It was Sabine who spoke. “No. We can’t.” Ezra stopped squirming and looked at her. Zeb recognized the kid’s wide-eyed expression. Karabast. Teenage romance was the last thing they needed on the ship. Sabine, mercifully, reciprocated none of it. She looked past Ezra to Kanan and Hera. “The kid knows too much.” The kid’s body sank into Zeb’s grip. Humans could be such weak creatures when it came to rejection. On Lasan, if a member of the opposite sex didn’t like you, you showed them your talents until they did." from Star Wars Rebels: The Rebellion Begins by Michael Kogge
In the days (and years) to come, Ezra would indeed show off his many talents to impress Sabine, hoping to earn her respect and affection. His heroic rescue of a Wookiee youngling was only the beginning. Even then, after only knowing him for a short time, Sabine had already grown fond of the boy and was aware that she would miss him if he left the Ghost crew.
"Sabine stayed on her feet. The sight of Wookiees tumbling over each other would generally have made her laugh. Not today, not after what had just happened. As much as she might hate to admit it, she’d grown fond of the kid. She’d miss him pestering Zeb to no end." from Star Wars Rebels: The Rebellion Begins by Michael Kogge
Hera and Chopper both observed Sabine’s outward display of apathy towards Ezra, but only Hera could perceive that Sabine cared for Ezra more than what the girl was willing to demonstrate at that time. In contrast, Chopper, who was unaware of what Hera knew, demonstrated a rare display of sympathy for Ezra’s feelings.
"Hera moved closer to the hatch to peek inside. Sabine lubricated Chopper’s gears and gave the boy an apathetic nod, though Hera could tell that wasn’t how the girl actually felt. Chopper was more honest. He didn’t emit his usual snort; he hooted softly, almost sadly." from Star Wars Rebels: The Rebellion Begins by Michael Kogge
True believers, the seeds of a love story between Sabine and Ezra were planted at the very beginning of their adventures. Keep the faith until Ezra and Sabine are finally reunited.
I have spoken.

This is an incredibly sad little drabble that my sad little brain gave me this morning. Essentially Sabine finds Ezra's old tooka doll when she is settling into the tower. Story under the cut :)
For reference:
Tumblr media
Sabine was glad that Zeb had stuck around for a while longer before going back to Yavin 4. Moving all of her things out of the Ghost would have been a chore without the Lasat’s help. Kallus had also returned to Lothal to drop off Ezra’s kom’rk, which he had renamed the Starbird. Most of Ezra’s belongings had already been moved there by him before they had left Yavin for Lothal all that time ago. Hera had not wanted to let Sabine move the rest of Ezra’s things from the Ghost, but Sabine insisted that when he came back that it would be to Lothal first and then the two would use the Starbird as their ship and join up with the Rebellion. Little did the two women know just how long that waiting period would be.
After Jacen was born Hera had stayed on Lothal for a while to get the hang of caring for a newborn and to help Sabine navigate the grief over Ezra. But unfortunately the duties of a General became more pressing and Hera, Jacen, and Chopper had to return to Yavin. This left Sabine alone on Lothal. She moved into Ezra’s tower and had been working to renovate and update it so it would be the perfect place for Ezra to call home. Without even thinking she had also been making it into a place she would want to live.
Sabine had been working on organizing Ezra’s various odds and ends he had throughout the tower when she stumbled upon something that broke her heart even more, if that was possible. It was a worn down tooka doll, something that was a popular children’s stuffie on many planets. Holding the clearly well loved doll Sabine began to weep. She was weeping for young Ezra, who had been all alone for seven years, for the Ezra she knew and loved, and for the grief she felt over his disappearance. The loth-cat that had decided to attach itself to Sabine came over to try and offer what little comfort it could. Sabine slowly got up off the floor and moved to the tiny bed that was on one of the tower walls. She curled up into herself, still holding the tooka while tears continued to fall. Her loth-cat hopped up beside her and curled itself up by her. Eventually the tears ran out and Sabine had fallen asleep. Sleeping with the doll had become a comfort to Sabine. It was a little piece of Ezra she could always keep close, at least until he was there with her again.

Square: "I love you"
Yay, my second bingo one-shot! This time, for Captain Howzer! This is my first time writing for him, so I hope I do the good Captain justice! 😊😊 Enjoy!!
Tumblr media
“Hera? Hera! Hera! Where are you, child?”
You cried out for the young Twi’lek girl in your charge as you wandered outside on the top balcony of the Syndulla household, wondering where she had wandered off to. The child was always getting into mischief along with her C1 unit Droid, who you swear had more sass and attitude than the girl herself. You’d done your daily lessons with her and then let her be so you could prepare dinner for her as well as Cham and Eleni, the girl’s parents, who would be expected to return soon. Of course, of all the times for Hera to disappear, it had to be just before her parents came home. Though, they most likely wouldn’t be surprised, but even still, it was embarrassing for you to appear as though you’d lost their daughter. The sun was just beginning to set, coloring the sky a deep gold and orange, and you hoped you’d find Hera before it got too dark.
Looking around to the courtyard and beyond the wall of the estate, you called out again, “Hera! Chopper!” When no response came, your hands came up to your hips as a groan of frustration escaped you. “Where has that girl and her Droid gone to now?” you asked aloud. You had checked all through the house and there was no sign of her. She’d better be outside somewhere.
At the start of the Clone Wars, you were hired by the Syndulla’s to be the governess for their daughter since one or both of her parents were constantly away, especially with Cham Syndulla’s involvement in the war as well as the liberation of Ryloth. You were a simple woman who had come to Ryloth for a new start after you had lost your family to a famine on your home planet. The Syndulla’s seemed like a good family who had nothing but their people’s best interests at heart and you found there was never a dull moment with them, especially with the fiery-spirited Hera, who was on the verge of her young teenage years. They paid you and treated you well and gave you your own room in the house to stay in; you really felt like you were part of their family some days.
Then off in the distance, you managed to spot a small cloud of dust and heard the faint revving of an engine. Your eyes narrowed, trying to make out the shape coming in your direction. It was a speederbike. After a few seconds, you spotted a familiar shade of teal against the gold of the sunset sky behind him which brought a smile to your face.
It was him…Captain Howzer.
He was a Clone captain over a squadron of troops that had been sent months ago to help the citizens of Ryloth after they were liberated from the Separatists. He had also personally been assigned to serve with Cham Syndulla and his family. He had been to the Syndulla home many times. Sometimes to retrieve Cham when he was needed for a battle of some kind, to check on the wellbeing of the family or to bring Hera back after she’d scampered off somewhere…which you could tell was the reason for his unexpected visit this time as you then spotted a smaller figure peek out from behind him, her green skin and lekku illuminated by the sun.
Seeing them approaching the outer wall, you ducked out from the upper balcony, made your way through the house and went outside to meet them. Howzer drove in through the gate and brought the speederbike to a stop in the courtyard. You saw Hera slide off the back of the bike and Chopper, who had been magnetized to the very back, jumped off using his thrusters, chirping in greeting to you and waving his little mechanical arm like nothing was wrong.
“Oh, don’t act all innocent with me, Chopper,” you chided him as you walked towards them. Then you looked to Hera. “Hera Syndulla, where have you been? Your parents will be home anytime now.”
Before Hera could answer you, you all heard the sound of a shuttle approaching and saw it come zooming in overhead. It was Cham’s personal shuttle. You had a feeling he and his wife were going to question why you all were out there and possibly why Howzer was there unannounced. The shuttle came in for a landing inside the courtyard and you shielded your face from the exhaust. Within seconds, the Syndulla couple disembarked their ship.
“Well…we have quite the welcoming party, my dear,” Eleni remarked to her husband as they came your way.
“So it would seem,” replied Cham. “What are you all doing out here…and what brings you by, Howzer?”
You opened your mouth to explain what had happened, but Howzer answered first, saying, “Hera needed help replacing a part for her Droid, sir, so I offered to take her to find what she needed while (Y/N) got things prepared for dinner. We only just got back. My apologies if I overstepped.”
“Not at all. That is perfectly fine,” said Cham.
Your eyes widened slightly at Howzer and you grinned a little to yourself. He had covered for you as well as Hera…for probably the twentieth time, at this point. He was far too kind and noble…and that was why you loved him.
It hadn’t taken long after Howzer had come to Ryloth for him to catch your attention and for you to catch his. He was incredibly handsome, even with the scars on his chin and his cheek, and he thought you were beautiful beyond compare. There were many stolen glances when any of the Syndulla’s weren’t looking, secret meetings when Hera was in bed and her parents were still out and a couple lingering touches of your hands when you stood by each other. After a couple months of getting to know each other, growing closer and subtly flirting, you had finally kissed Howzer during a night alone and you both decided you wanted to be together. You weren’t sure if Cham and Eleni would approve of your relationship, so you tried your best to keep it a secret and act cordial around each other when they were present. However, you’d caught some knowing looks from Eleni a couple of times. Either you and Howzer weren’t being as discreet as you thought or Eleni was much more observant than you gave her credit for, which was already a lot. Eleni Syndulla was a sharp and witty woman that you admired a great deal. She most likely knew of your relationship with Howzer, but she’d never said anything, which gave you the idea that she didn’t mind or she approved.
To quickly move the conversation along, you spoke up, saying, "Supper is ready for you all in the dining room."
Eleni then looked to the Clone Captain and said to him, a grin on her face, "You will join us for dinner, won't you, Howzer?"
"Thank you, ma'am, but I wouldn't want to impose, especially since I'm here unexpectedly," he replied.
"Nonsense, you would never be an imposition to us," she said back. Then she smiled even more. "Besides, I'm sure our lovely governess made plenty of food for everyone."
Of course, Eleni made it a point to say you were lovely…but you simply said politely, "I did, yes. There will be enough for you, as well, Captain."
"Please stay and eat with us, Howzer!" cried Hera excitedly.
Seeing all the women were staring at him, Howzer stole a look at Cham. The Twi'lek leader just shrugged and said, "The ladies have spoken, Captain."
"I guess they have, sir," he said. Then he agreed, saying, "Very well."
Pleased with his response, Cham and Eleni went into the house with Chopper following behind them. However, you stopped Hera as she tried to go after them.
"Now, where were you really, young lady?" you questioned her in a low voice, your eyebrows raised and your hands on your hips.
Hera laughed sheepishly and told you, "Uh…I went to go find Uncle Gobi…because he told me if I could get away, he'd take me flying. Howzer found me instead and brought me back."
You let out an exasperated sigh. "Gobi really is a bad influence on you. You're both gonna get me in trouble someday," you commented. You gave her a pat on the head. "Go on, troublemaker, go wash up for dinner."
Hera ran off up the stairs and into the house, leaving you and Howzer alone.
"I honestly think Eleni knows about us," you commented to him.
He chuckled. "I wouldn't be surprised. She's an intelligent woman."
"Though, she hasn't said anything to me, so...I'm assuming she's okay with it?"
"She'd better be…because I would fight for you and for us if she didn't." He leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to your lips, giving you butterflies in your stomach and what he had said. "Let's go, I'm dying to have some of your cooking."
Tumblr media
Dinner went well with the Syndulla’s and Howzer complimented what you had prepared…multiple times, even. Howzer was never really around for mealtimes, so this was a very rare occasion to have him there. He too fit in well with the family dynamic.
As you were clearing the table, the Captain stood up, took up his helmet underneath his arm and stated to the room, "Thank you for the meal. It was very appreciated. I'll go ahead and leave you now for the evening."
"As you wish, Howzer," Cham responded. Then he said to you as you took his plate, "And (Y/N), you may have the rest of the evening off. Eleni and I will handle getting Hera to bed."
"Oh! Are you sure, sir?" you asked, surprised.
"I'm sure. You've worked hard today, especially after preparing this meal for all of us," he said. "Go, have some time for yourself tonight."
When he turned away, you snuck a look at Howzer, who had stopped in the front doorway when he heard Cham tell you to take the night off. He grinned at you and quickly motioned with his head outside, signaling to you that he'd wait for you, and then closed the door.
"I appreciate that very much, sir," you said gladly to Cham. "I'll go on a walk after I get the dishes."
You took the dishes into the kitchen to clean them, but found yourself intercepted by Eleni, who took the dishes from you.
"I will handle dishes, dear. No more work for you tonight," she told you. "Go enjoy your walk." Then she leaned in and whispered, "Enjoy your time with the Captain."
When she came back, she winked knowingly at you. It was certainly now safe to say that she definitely knew about you and Howzer.
Gratefully, you smiled back and replied, "I will, ma'am. Thank you."
You grabbed your jacket from your room and retreated back downstairs. You bade Hera goodnight and gave her a kiss on the forehead before heading out the door. The sun had gotten lower in the sky to where it just a soft light, the sky covered in pale pink and purple. Howzer was standing by his speederbike in the middle of the courtyard and a pleased grin crossed his face at seeing you. You broke into a run down the steps and leapt into his arms, throwing your arms around his neck. He caught you with ease and spun you around, chuckling in your ear.
"Let's get out of here," he suggested.
"Yes, please," you replied, already halfway on the back of his bike.
He got onto the bike and started it up. You wrapped your arms around his waist and the two sped off into the endless deserts of Ryloth. You rode on for a while until you came to a cluster of rocks in the middle of the desert; a spot where you and Howzer had escaped to many a time.
He helped you off the speederbike and you immediately found yourself in his arms, his lips connecting with yours passionately.
"I'd hoped I'd get you to myself tonight. I've missed you," he said, referencing that it had been a couple of days since he'd been able to see you.
"I've missed you, too," you replied.
You kissed him once again before he pulled out a blanket from the back of the speederbike. Then he laid it out on the ground for you and you sat down upon it. Then he took the time to remove his armor, stripping down to his undersuit, before joining you where you snuggled up close to him in his arms. The two of you laid back on the blanket and looked up to the sky, seeing that the pinks and purples were growing deeper in color and you could see a sea of stars beginning to appear as night was approaching. The two of you gazed up at the stars without saying a word, the beating of his heart drumming in your ear.
Finally, after a long while, you heard him ask, "What do you think will happen when the war is over? What will happen…with us?"
"I don't know," you said. "I don't know if the Syndulla’s will still need me when Cham no longer needs to fight for Ryloth…and you'll probably be shipped offworld because the Clones won't be needed either." You nestled up closer to him, your arms snaking around his waist. "What are we going to do? I don't…I don't want to lose you, Howzer."
Howzer sat up, pulling you up with him, and looked steadfastly into your eyes. "You won't lose me, babe," he promised, laying his hand on your cheek. "I don't know what our future holds for us when the war is done, but I do know this: when that time comes, wherever you choose to go in the galaxy, I will always be at your side."
You reached up and grasped his hand on your cheek, leaning into his gentle touch. "Do you really mean it?"
"Of course, I do," he said, kissing you long and slowly. His forehead tenderly touched yours when he pulled away. "I love you."
This was the first time those three words had been spoken between the two of you and a quiet gasp escaped you at hearing them. When you pulled back to gaze into his eyes, you found there wasn't a hint of any lie or uncertainty in them at all. He meant what he said truly and irrevocably. Though, you knew you shouldn't question him. Howzer would never lie to you. He was always honest in everything when it came to you. There was no reason for it to end here.
"I love you, too," you told him back with a smile. "Even when you're no longer a Captain and I'm no longer a governess, I will always love you and we'll always be together."
There, under the starry desert sky of Ryloth, you and your beloved Clone Captain promised that no matter what happened in the future, you would always have each other and that was all you would ever need to be happy.

I don't know if this is tamer than Ezra and Zeb but it's kinda like a mashup of Ezra and Zeb and Ezra and Sabine. That being said be ready for my favorite Star Wars ship and the parents of the Ghost family to be very good parents.
Also Hera's voice actress also voices Black Canary on Young Justice and between this and the Shadow Of A Bluejay series I think you can tell I want her to be my mom.
Am I slightly projecting? Is the reader Autistic coded? Who knows but I found myself projecting my own communication issues on Mandalorians so...

The doors to your room opened but you didn't look up, you were after all very comfortable on your top bunk polishing your blaster.
"You know one micro movement and I can splatter your insides on that wall right?" You asked, still not looking up from your blaster.
"You wouldn't do that" Ezra said confidently.
"I might not mean to, seeing as you keep coming in here without knocking" You told the slightly younger boy. He rolled his eyes.
"I was calling your name" Ezra said.
"And I wasn't listening" You replied.
"Well that's not my fault" He said.
"What do you want anyway shorty?" You asked and that got to him.
"We are the same height!" He exclaimed.
"No we're not" You said calmly.
"It is by half a centimeter, it's the same height" He insisted.
"No. It's not" You reiterated.
"You know what, forget it" Ezra said, storming out of your room.
"Oh come on, you know I'm joking" You said, finally putting the blaster away and going after Ezra.
It had only been a few months since the kid joined, maybe you were a bit too comfortable with your teasing but you thought it was a game.
"Ezra come back here!" You yelled after the little streak of blue hair you saw running out of the open hull of the Ghost.
"What's going on here exactly?" Hera asked, she'd heard yelling and saw Ezra run off.
"He just ran off!" You told her but she raised a brow in question.
"Okay, maybe there was some teasing but he came into my room without knocking. That's against the rules" You told her.
"You gotta let up on him, he's not used to... well to you yet. And you can be a lot sometimes kid" She said. You supposed she was right. She was far from the first person to tell you that.
Still you looked out at the direction that Ezra ran to. You were parked by a mountain with some caves on Lothal, decently far from any major cities and very much in the middle of nowhere so he had to come back sooner or later... right?
Later came and he still wasn't back. It was getting closer to sunset and you were getting worried.
"He'll be back before sundown, don't worry so much" Kanan told you as you paced the hull of the Ghost. He still wasn't back. He must have been really mad at you.
You grumbled, "I didn't mean to upset him so much, really I— I just—"
"Hey" Kanan said, lightly shaking your shoulder, "He'll come back and you'll tell him just that." he said.
Do you really think he'll come back?" You asked.
"It's not like he'd spend the night in a cave" Kanan said. Well nighttime rolled in and Ezra still wasn't back.
"That's it. I'm going to find him" You said, grabbing a flashlight and walking out.
"Aren't you going to stop them?" Zeb asked but Kanan just shrugged.
"They're big kids, they'll figure this out themselves" He said, "Besides when was the last time it was this quiet on here?" He asked, kicking back and laying his feet on the holotable.
Chopper beeped sassily.
"Yeah well no one asked for your opinions chop" Kanan retorted.
You started by going in the direction you saw Ezra run in hours ago but it's been so long he could practically be anywhere.
"Ezra!" You called out.
"Ezra! It's me! Can you please come back?" You yelled out into the mountains and heard it echoing back.
"Great" You grumbled. You kept walking, the flashlight and the stars being the only ones lighting your way.
You eventually found Ezra, sitting in the entrance of a shallow cave carved into one of the mountains.
"Ezra?" You asked and he scooted away from you.
"What do you want?" He asked and you stopped. Every step closer to him you took he kept scooting away on the floor of the cave.
"It's dark..." You said, trailing off.
"Yeah, and what do you care?" He asked.
"Well you weren't back and everyone was worried" You answered.
"So where's everyone else?" He asked.
"Well..."
"Just leave me alone." He said.
"Look, I get it, your mad at me and maybe a crossed a line but can you please just come back to the Ghost? It's dangerous out here" You tried to tell him.
"I'm fine. I made it out here all on my own before and I can do it again" Ezra said.
"Yeah but you don't have to. Come on Ezra, let's just go home and—"
"The Ghost is not my home!" He yelled and it echoed through the cave.
"Ezra"
"I get it, you don't like me, you don't have to pretend. Just go away and leave me alone" Ezra said, turning his back to you.
"You know what? Fine! Die alone in a cave for all I care, I'm going back to the Ghost! You do whatever you want" You said and stormed off.
When you came back to the Ghost alone Kanan looked a bit worried.
"You didn't find him?" He asked.
"Oh I found him but if he wants to be a jerk he can be a jerk in a cave." You said, walking past him and straight back to your room.
Hera, who had been sitting beside Kanan looked at him.
"Do you wanna take the moody teenager or the runaway kid?" She asked and Kanan sighed.
"I'll take the kid" He said and went out to find Ezra meanwhile Hera went to knock on your door.
It didn't take Kanan long to find Ezra, still holed up in the cave where you found him, throwing pebbles at the walls of the cave in frustration and grumbling to himself.
"Hey" Kanan said.
"Hey" Ezra replied and Kanan took a seat on the ground o the cave.
"You had us a bit worried back there" Kanan said.
"Yeah well I only go where I'm wanted." Ezra said.
"We want you on the Ghost. You know that" Kanan told him.
"Y/N obviously doesn't" The boy replied.
"Sit down" Kanan told him and Ezra turned around.
"What for?" He asked.
"Just do it" Kanan said and Ezra eventually did, sitting down beside the older Jedi.
"Why do you think Y/N doesn't want you around?" Kanan asked his padawan.
"Cause" Ezra replied.
"Cause what?" Kanan asked.
"Cause they're always such a jerk. I mean, I just wanted to ask if they wanted to hang out and they were—" "Being Y/N?" Kanan asked.
"Well yeah" Ezra replied.
"Listen, I'm gonna tell you something but you have to promise not to tell anyone I told you" Kanan said.
"Why?" Ezra asked.
"Cause if Y/N found out I told you they'd have my head" Kanan replied humorously before clearing his throat a bit.
"Y/N's a bit rougher around the edges than the rest of us, well except maybe Chopper" Kanan began.
"You're telling me" Ezra grumbled.
"But there's a good reason for it. They lost everything when they were really young and the Empire took over Mandalore." Kanan explained, "They survived by being tough. By not showing any weakness and the verbal sparring just came along naturally"
"So they're trying to show me they're tough?" Ezra asked.
"No, they're showing you that they think you're tough and that they care about you" Kanan explained.
"They don't talk that way to people they aren't close to or that they think are weak. And sometimes they take it too far but if anything that's because they think you can take it" He continued.
"So what? All those things are jokes to him? Cause they're not funny" Ezra told him.
"Then tell them that." Kanan told Ezra.
Meanwhile on the Ghost Hera knocked on your door.
"Y/N? May I come in?" She asked.
"Don't bother" You told her but the door still opened and Hera still came in.
"Kanan went to go get Ezra" She said.
"Good for him" You grumbled.
"Do you want to tell me what's going on?" Hera asked and you sighed.
"He hates me" You told her.
"Ezra doesn't hate you, he's upset but he doesn't hate you" Hera said. climbing up to sit beside you on your bunk.
"Yes he does. I went too far again and he hates me" You told her and she sighed.
Ezra didn't reply, he stared off into the dark sky outside the cave.
"They went looking for you when you didn't come back. They didn't mean to go too far" Kanan told Ezra, "And sometimes Y/N doesn't always know how far to take it but trust me kid, they care about you. Heck, they care about you enough to go after you and bring you back. That's not nothing"
"Yeah, I guess" Ezra relented.
"And you care about them too" Kanan said, "Otherwise this wouldn't have bothered you so much so come on, let's get back home"
"Yeah, alright" Ezra relented.
When Kanan and Ezra got back you were awkwardly sitting beside Hera on the couch in the Ghost's lounge. Ezra didn't look particularly confident either as he walked in with Kanan.
...
"Hey" You said after a decently long silence.
"Hi" Ezra Ezra replied.
Kanan and Hera looked at each other. "Alright, we'll be in the cockpit if you need anything" Hera said, dragging Kanan along with her.
"So..." You said and Ezra took a seat beside you.
"Yeah" He said.
"I'm sorry" You both said at the same time and you chuckled.
"I didn't mean to go overboard on the teasing" You said.
"And I didn't mean to be so mean in the cave" He said.
"It's fine, I kind of deserved it. Besides I didn't actually want you to die alone in a cave" You told him.
"You know we're kind of like the siblings in this weird crew" Ezra told you.
"I've never had a younger sibling sibling before" You told him.
"And I've never had an older sibling before" Ezra said.
"So, siblings?" You asked and put your hand out.
"Siblings" Ezra agreed and shook your hand.

Brothers of the broken horn
Hera is such mom friend
HONDO HONDO HONDO
Not a fan of his redesign but he's still in character so I don't care lmao
I hope Hondo does get to meet Lando one day
Hondo and Ezra's bond is honestly such a great thing to watch blossom lmao
chopper is such a mad dawg
Hondo calling Obi-Wan his best friend is so bittersweet
I also appreciate that he's still pretty good with kids
Rex must be so sick of Hondo's shit at this point lmao

I've been rethinking about the Ahsoka serie for a while and I realized that I'm not really the biggest fan of it...
But since I don't like to spread too much negativity on things I otherwise enjoyed I decided to make a checklist of the things I liked about it:
Sabine's haircutting scene as a parallel to Kanan's one, both of them prepering to save the people they love
Sabine using Ezra's lightsaber was cool, even though I would have prefered her not being a Force sensitive
CAPTAIN CARSON TEVA!
Lothal and the mural
MY GENOCIDAL BOY CHOPPER!!!!
MY SASSY BOY HUYANG!!!!!!!
THE GOLDEN BOY HIMSELF C3PO!!!!!!!!!
I love Star Wars droids, okay? okay
Little Jacen, and the scene where he heard Ahsoka and Anakin's duel
ALSO HIS PAULDRON, A MINI VERSION OF KANAN'S!!!
Hera basically telling the senator to fuck off and let her do her job
How Shin's grey palette is in direct contrast to Sabine's explosion of colours.
Baylan Skoll's journey to the Mortis gods (apparentely)
The whole WBW sequence
I cried at that, two times
Ahsoka going to take the clone's hand
Anakin with the Darth Vader flashes
How it took this sequence to make me realize how much PTSD Ahsoka must have from the war and everything that happened after
Ariana Greenblatt as young Ahsoka
The way they retconned the atrocious tube top
The way her Akul theet Headress looked. I never liked how it was in TCW
AHSOKA THE WHITE!!!
THE PURGILL'S SEQUENCE!! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
"A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away..."
THE CRAB PEOPLE
Ezra aka Space Moses
The Great Mothers
"For the Empire" "... for Dathomir"
Morgan and Ashoka's duel
ANAKIN'S FORCE GHOST

Ahsoka episode 3 *my opinions*
What I liked
PURRGIL!!!!!!!!!
JACEN OMG
“How’s young Jacen? Causing trouble with Chopper, no doubt.” Jacen & Chop confirmed menaces
Jacen wants to be a Jedi like his father 🥺
“Aunt Sabine” 😭😭
“I suppose you do come from a long line of non-traditional Jedi.” Disaster lineage >
Ahsoka fighting on the ship in space was pretty cool
I’m definitely intrigued about inter-galaxy hyperspace travel. It opens up so much potential
What I didn’t like
I’m still not sold on Sabine being a force-wielder or Ahsoka’s apprentice. It just feels…unnecessary? I don’t understand why they couldn’t just work together as an (ex) Jedi and a Mandalorian. The master-and-apprentice dynamic really came out of nowhere.
Also apparently anyone can train to use the force now which like ???? No?? That goes against everything we know about Star Wars. Also Sabine is already more than capable of fighting. Ahsoka says she’s going to need the force to defeat the new sith but that’s not true?? Mandalorians are fierce opponents, even against the Jedi as we’ve seen before.
Idk their whole relationship is just not what I expected. Sabine doesn’t need a master. She’s already a skilled warrior and went through character development in rebels that it just feels like we’re rehashing
One last thing that might be petty but I just don’t like the way live action hera looks 😭 I don’t know if it’s the makeup or the actress but it’s not working for me at all

Ahsoka spoiler thoughts for episode 3
Sabine's training outfit is *chef's kiss*
I get the sense that Sabine's Force sensitivity will be treated similarly to Chirrut's. She's not naturally strong enough to get cool powers, but she draw on it to enhance her intuition or something to that effect. I like this approach since it ties back to the idea from the first movie that everyone has the Force within them, and the fact that Sabine was able to connect with the Dark Saber in Rebels.
Huyang referencing the Disaster Lineage! I feel seen.
Loved that detail of Hera (briefly) losing her cool and snapping at the Senators. She's a professional military woman, but Ezra was like a son to her. Of course she's going to clam up and get defensive when they call out her bias.
The New Republic is continuing to New Republic. But Mothma seems pretty reasonable at least.
Resistance cameo? I couldn't get through that show, but I'm glad to see other parts of the franchise being acknowledged and incorporated into the story in a way that makes sense.
JACEN! And he and Chopper are bffs because of course they are. They're basically brothers!
His exchange with Hera about wanting to be a Jedi is... interesting. The Rebels epilogue seemed to imply that Jacen was Force-sensitive, but apparently Luke hasn't whisked him off for training. Maybe Luke doesn't want to start too young? Jacen just wants to be like his dad <3
"You win this round" Lmfao
This episode is much more exciting than the first two. While I think the slower pace of those episodes was necessary, this is just plain fun. Rosario Dawson also feels much more natural as Ahsoka in this kind of context.
The details of Ahsoka and Sabine being forced to actively and verbally coordinate their efforts during the dogfight was great. It's much more realistic than characters magically being able to hit stuff while flying in 1959325 different directions, especially for a non-Jedi.
Marrok's voice is so cool. I feel like this character was created exclusively to spawn whackass speculation about Ezra being evil, but I don't mind since at least Marrok seems like a competent villain, at least so far. I'd be mad if he turned out to be Ezra, but I really think he's a deliberate red herring.
Shin's so gorgeous wtf
The lightsaber sequence in space was interesting. The shape of the helmet was a little goofy, but at least Ahsoka actually got a helmet this time around rather than just an oxygen mask like in TCW. Suspension of disbelief can only take you so far in live action, so I can overlook it. Especially since the action was actually pretty cool.
Purgill!!
I wanted Baylan to do more in this episode. He sure as hell looks cool, though!
I wish we'd gotten more specific information on Ahsoka and Sabine's previous falling-out. It feels like we've been snapped back to a status quo that we never got to see play out on-screen, rather than actually exploring that relationship. That being said, there's still five episodes to go, so there's plenty of time to address this.

Rebels Rewatch: "Dume"
*pulling out more tissues* Anyone still need these? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? I am way too young to be making that joke.
Live reaction version.
Tumblr media
As if to rub things in, this episode starts moments after the previous one ended. The fireball is under control, finally, though still burning, and an officer comes up to Pryce to confirm the news:
Kanan is dead.
Pryce knows she's made a mess of things but latches onto this fact as a way to still look good in front of Imperial High Command, deciding to throw a sick kind of celebration for it. In a twisted way, the Jedi also represents "hope" to someone as despicable as Pryce.
Tumblr media
Oh man, he doesn't know. He's so happy to see them.
Tumblr media
Zeb's first hint that things didn't go as planned is Sabine hurling off her pilot helmet, swiping her eyes angrily as she passes him in complete silence.
And then the near-comatose Hera, dead on her feet, staring up blankly towards the horizon and Ezra shaking his head because he can't help her.
Chopper rushing immediately to Hera's side because he knows her, knows something is horribly wrong.
Zeb grabbing Ezra by the shoulders and he barely reacts to it.
Tumblr media
"Kanan's gone." is all he can say, and his anguish when he has to repeat it when Zeb asks for clarification, the anger and sorrow, the way his voice shakes...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Zeb's expression drops in horror and he wordlessly pulls Ezra into an embrace.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I WANTED THEM TO HUG BUT NOT LIKE THIS.
And Chopper silently holding Hera's hand. :((((
They bring back the white titlecard too, just to remind you we're still in mourning.
It gets a bit lost with everything that happened, but the attack on Lothal's factories? That was two days ago. The disastrous failure and loss of 24! fighters is going to be very fresh on the Alliance's minds, and add Kanan's death to the mix and they absolutely will not risk any more hardware and personnel on Lothal. The Spectres will have to fix things from within, on their own, by themselves.
Which they gradually discover that they have started to. The Alliance's primary goal on Lothal was preventing the Defenders from being manufactured, and Kanan accomplished that. Anything in addition to that is cake topping for the Alliance, Lothal goes back to being one of the thousands of worlds in the Imperial-occupied crowd they have to face down.
They don't know about the Temple. And that's why Lothal also needed Ezra.
Tumblr media
Who, after an outfit and scene change, is about to be as functionally useless and paralyzed as Hera.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
:(((((((
I was unclear on why the wolves were so angry the first time through. It's clearer now that they're trying to snap Ezra out of his funk, because time is running out and they can't afford for him to sit there and be depressed about things, they need him to move, they need him in action. They're not kind about it, but the reality is not kind, If Ezra does not get himself together, Palpatine will gain the WBW, Lothal will be doomed, everyone will die.
Bit a lot more headcanon-y but also I think the Loth-wolves may have preferred Kanan be the one to enter the WBW and save it? Owing to [gestures to unanswered mystery box about Kanan's past they hinted at]. Maybe? So maybe they were also just a little pissy that their first choice went and got himself killed even after they warned him.
Like I said, speculation and spitballing on my part on that one.
Anyway.
Tumblr media
Ezra runs away from the Loth-wolves' attempts to confront him and I already praised it in my first watch but the camerawork is excellent here. Very nicely staged, good insets, good tracking shots, good dollying.
The Loth-wolves actually pause here, waiting, watching Ezra to see what what he'll do. Ezra had the full opportunity to reach out and connect, and talk to them, but he chooses not to, running away again.
So they wind up knocking him out when they knock him down.
Meanwhile at Imperial HQ, good lord that is a lot of smoke. It's literally blurring the edges of the Dome.
Pryce seems very pleased with herself for killing the Jedi. Too bad Thrawn literally doesn't care about that, because he's pissed she let Hera Syndulla escape and also the whole fuel depot thing. Thrawn says he's not in it for glory but I think he does take some personal satisfaction from defeating someone he considers a Worthy Opponent. Hera was his victory and Pryce undid it as soon as he was gone. That has to sting, lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Rukh is grinning like, "Sucks to be you, bitch."
I don't know if we're meant to take Hera's, "Why did I wait so long to tell him?" as being about saying I love you or about being pregnant but I'm going to go with the latter because, again, the suggestion that that was the first time she'd actually told him is dumb and I won't entertain it.
Chopper is so very present for Hera through all this, even when Hera regrets even starting the Rebellion in the first place.
I think a few people have speculated that each of the Spectres represents a stage of grief. Ezra's stuck in a certain kind of Denial, and gets tempted with the Bargaining stage an episode later. Sabine and Zeb are both Anger. Hera is obviously Depression.
Eventually all of them reach Acceptance. Chopper may have already been there.
Zeb is actually the one who notices first that the factories are completely shut down, which is a nice touch.
I can't quite tell if Ezra wakes up in the same location he was knocked out in or if the wolves moved him. He bolts up in a different position so there's room to argue they moved him, possibly on Dume's orders.
Subtle animation appreciation moment: Ezra stumbling like he's falling asleep on his feet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He looks so tired. And he's stuck. Emotionally and physically.
Maybe that's why he turns to the children's nursery rhyme like he did in Season One's "Path of the Jedi" to try and decide a way forward. But he keeps rejecting the options he lands on. So he does it again. And again.
Until a manifestation of Kanan appears, like it did before, to get him back on track.
Sabine holding back on her Mandalorian revenge instincts, implicitly because of Kanan's Jedi influence. T_T
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watch the sky in this part, you can see the hue shift to purple.
The Dume wolf sniffs him and he immediately stirs with a confused, "Kanan?" ow my heart.
Tumblr media
Some Endgame-like trumpets and drums in this part.
Zeb has height and strength going for him here, but Ruhk is so much faster and quicker. Not to mention has the stealth cloaking. Sabine's helmet gives her a leg up on that momentarily until it's knocked off.
Back with Ezra in the wolf-vision and Kanan-as-Dume interacts with Ezra in a very pointed, Force-y way, dragging out the truth from Ezra about why he ran, why he's stuck, what's holding him back.
"You... ran." It sounds almost accusatory. Ezra gives a weak excuse about the wolves chasing him, but upon being pressed again starts letting things out:
I feel lost, I'm afraid, I don't believe in myself without him, I can't do this on my own.
Tumblr media
Ezra's grief is tied up and tangled in his self-esteem issues, a bit self-pitying and "woe is me", because without Kanan he doesn't feel brave or strong, he's not special he's not like Kanan.
Who is he but a child, a "boy who was lost", without his wise brave master? He's nobody.
"I am afraid, all right?! I'm afraid. Everything seems so hopeless now."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Frick I need to hug him. :(
Zeb gets a little bit too into his anger when Sabine's exploding paint finally lets them see Rukh enough to smack him good.
Tumblr media
Sabine being the voice of mercy when there aren't Jedi around to do it. :(((((
Back with Ezra and the wolves have given him the keystone and finally explain what the deal is: The Jedi Temple is in grave danger. Secrets and knowledge lie within, that the Empire cannot get hold of. Those words are not a coincidence. We're meant to think back to Malachor, to where it first all went wrong, as Ezra's sentiment goes.
Still not quite sure why the Dume wolf had to bite Ezra out of his vision but Imma chalk it up to another mysterious wolf thing.
Ezra immediately yelling out for Kanan tho. :(
Sabine and Zeb like troublesome siblings pulling a prank as they send Rukh off painted and humiliated lol.
Meanwhile Hera has added a new bead to the Kalikori, representative of Kanan and using a piece that looks like a Jedi holocron shard.
Tumblr media
Sabine looks so genuinely happy here.
Ezra's functional enough for now, so he's back too, and we end on the cliffhanger of the Lothal Temple in danger, the secrets within about to be seized by the Empire.
The last half of Season Four is very tightly written, this episode a prime example. It's breathing space for us to grieve, and it still is seamlessly tied to the plot in the episodes prior and after.
The Dume wolf operates, as Ahsoka would suggest later, as an extension of Kanan's will, working Ezra through the blocks in his head one last time, like he did in "Gathering Forces". Ezra wouldn't fully recover until after "The World Between Worlds" but he's on the way to properly grieving, shelving his feelings for the moment in order to do what he has to, what only he can.
And boy am I looking forward to that. :)

Thoughts on Ahsoka Episode 5 - Shadow Warrior - A Discussion Post
Episode 5 of Ahsoka was truly an emotional rollercoaster. There were so many surprises and details that everyone just could not miss. Filoni truly fed us with content, and we love getting to see some touching moments. Buckle up and let's talk about it!
(all screencaps from Ahsoka are from cap-that.com! https://www.cap-that.com/starwars/ahsoka/105/index.php?page=4)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's start with the one and only Anakin Skywalker. With Hayden Christensen reprising his role, he comes to Ahsoka in the version she grew up seeing: her master. Anakin states that he wants to complete Ahsoka's training, and they engage in a lightsaber duel that gets intense with every step.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whenever he said "Live... or die", my mind had flashbacks to when he had said in Rebels, "Then you will die." My head just kept going to it and I had chills.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ahsoka falls from the World Between Worlds into a flashback of the Clone Wars, reliving the battle. Ariana Greenblatt, who played young Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War, the little sister in Stuck in the Middle, and was recently in the Barbie movie, plays young Ahsoka, which I find amazing. She really captured how young Ahsoka was during the war and her emotions towards everything around her.
Seeing the Clone Wars scenes made me feel like I was the young high school girl during the pandemic again who had just recently discovered Star Wars and had quickly watched all of Clone Wars to catch up to Season 7 and see every masterpiece of the show. This was such an exciting moment for all of us fans. Hayden nails the Clone Wars Anakin with his outfit and his movements.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ahsoka sits beside an injured clone, putting her hand on his. The clone gently holds her hand, right before he falls to his death. Ahsoka's emotions take over her as she begins to cry, grieving. These scenes truly show how young she was; she was just a child forced into a war that has to be fought. Greenblatt's portrayal of Ahsoka nails the spot on these details.
We also got to see the Siege of Mandalore in live action, which has become one of the best Clone Wars arcs. Anakin steps into the scene, getting to see the Siege of Mandalore for the first time with his own eyes. I will never get over the way that the two are standing together, it's literally the same shot from Season 7 of Clone Wars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the most brilliant surprises in the episode was getting to see Captain Rex. LIKE LOOK AT HIM!! The king only had a few lines and a few shots, but he slayed as usual. We could hear Temuera Morrison's voice under the helmet, which got my excitement up. I'm so glad he voiced Rex and we got to see him in live action. (Now where is Rex during the present in Ahsoka???)
Tumblr media
Back to the present above the water. Hera had found Huyang, who stands near the cliff, holding Sabine's Mandalorian helmet. He wished that they stayed together, and is sad now that they are apart and who knows where.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jacen was truly adorable this episode. He hung out with Chopper and Hera the whole episode, and when he was playing with Chopper, the sight was so cute. Jacen listens to the waves, eventually hearing the lightsabers clash between Ahsoka and Anakin. The Force truly thrives through this kid, and Kanan would be so proud. Also, the fact that Kanan was mentioned this episode shattered my heart. Huyang is forced to take Jacen aboard the ship for "a tour", the kid's interests peaked about the Jedi. He asks Huyang if he can be trained, which he straightforward says "No", which I found funny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Returning to the flashbacks, Ahsoka kept on seeing Anakin turn into Vader between quick shots that flashed with each burst of light. The sight that scares us all. When Anakin turned into Vader during the Siege of Mandalore scene, the way his voice changed sent chills down my spine. If I looked at an image from that part, I could hear his voice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Ahsoka fights the Vader side of Anakin who eventually appeared back in the World Between Worlds, she manages to get ahold of his lightsaber. The red blade glows under her face, and her eyes slowly turned into those red-yellow Sith eyes, just like Anakin's. Anakin sees his padawan as a Sith briefly right before the blade extinguishes. Everything eventually turns back to the calm normal. Ahsoka bids farewell to her master before falling back into the water.
Tumblr media
After Hera and the crew rescued Ahsoka from the water, we got a hug between Jacen and Ahsoka, which was adorable. Ahsoka has now begun wearing white, which I feel like is definitely symbolic of something. The white outfit reminds me of the one she wore in the Rebels finale, even if it's not exactly it.
Tumblr media
With the New Republic after their tails, Hera talks to Mon Mothma about the situation, who unfortunately can't do anything about it. Senator Organa was also mentioned, which means our girl Leia was trying her best to hold on for Hera. Hera, the rebel she is, goes with her own plans anyway.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The purgills were the ones who took Ezra and Thrawn away into a whole other galaxy, so how do we try to find them? Follow the purgills! Ahsoka (with Huyang) follows the purgills (and actually goes inside one... yeah she's Anakin's padawan with that plan). Both are ready to go with the purgills to find Sabine, and hopefully find Ezra.
Tumblr media
Jacen watches the purgills while sitting in the Ghost, talking to his mom about the stories regarding the purgills that took away Ezra and the "bad guys". I'm so glad Jacen knows about Ezra, even if it has to be through stories. The day the two meet will be such a joyous occassion. Even though Hera won't go with, she hopes that they return safely with Sabine and (praying) Ezra.
There's only three episodes left now, and I just know even more chaos is about to ensue. Ezra and Thrawn should definitely be making appearances very soon, which is going to be so fun. There was more focus on Ahsoka this episode rather than Sabine, and I loved the directions it went in. Filoni really gave us fans all the emotions and incredible shots, and he is still responsible for my therapy. I feel like next episode will definitely be much more of a rollercoaster, and here's to manifesting again that Ezra (and Thrawn) will show up soon.

Hmmmmmm.
How about Hera for the ask game!
Yesssss Hera my queen! 🖤
One aspect about them I love
How level-headed she is. She's arguably the only person on the Ghost who always handles everything that's thrown at her and her own emotions responsibly and maturely. No wonder she was made a general in the Rebellion; I would trust her with my life. And because she's so controlled, the moments that she's truly angry make her absolutely terrifying.
One aspect I wish more people understood about them
Hmmm. I'm not sure if I have anything here, I can't really recall having seen any takes on her that I outright disagree with. The only thing I can think of that because of the above stated competence, sometimes it's easy to forget just how young she is. She's twenty-four when she takes in Ezra. Twenty-four! And an accomplished leader in a war, with the responsibility of a crew/family that includes two teenagers and three traumatised soldiers (yes, I'm including Chopper).
One (or more) headcanon(s) I have about this character
Despite having no less than two Jedi on her crew, she's the most perceptive one of the Spectres. Kanan and Ezra can sense things others can't, but Hera is much better than them at interpreting observations, and as such understands things quicker than they do. She's also realistic enough to not get blinded by her own emotions or wishes, which is how she was the only one to see through Gall Trayvis's deception.
One character I love seeing them interact with
I love it when Hera gets snarky with Imperials (Kallus, Thrawn). Because of her function as pilot, she gets the least amount of screen time with Imperials of the crew, but when she does she's just so collected, so in control. Truly a strong queen. Also Kanan, of course. Their relationship is arguably the best one in the entire Star Wars universe ;-;
One character I wish they would interact with/interact with more
I'd love to see her interact more with Rex! I loved the way she interacted with the clones in The Bad Batch, and I can imagine Rex reminding her of Howzer (also PLEASE I need her and Howzer to meet each other again in the Rebellion). Being with someone as traumatised as Kanan I can imagine her not talking about the clones a lot, and I think her and Rex could bond.
One (or more) headcanon(s) I have that involve them and one other character
She eventually develops a close friendship with Kallus, who becomes a member of her crew some time after losing Kanan and Ezra. Both of them are true commanders, capable of staying clear and focused in the fight more than a lot of rebels, and of course she sees his connection with Zeb and knows from the very beginning that he will end up becoming a part of her little family as well. Kallus, being with an emotional Lasat, sometimes needs her practical approach.

Week Six of Spring Has Sprung 2024: Creativity and Innovation!
Tumblr media
Daniel, or Danny (son of Tadashi and Fred Hamada) inherited Tadashi's love of robotics, and someday he wants to make robots that help people just like his papa. He enjoys tinkering around in the garage in his spare time, and he's currently working on making a miniature version of Baymax, his papa's most famous creation, based off of old blueprints that he found.
Tumblr media
Dawn (daughter of Hera and Kanan Jarrus) also loves robotics, although for her it's more of a hobby--but a hobby with a lot of heart. She wants to be a pilot like her mom when she grows up, but her family also spends time volunteering with Star Wars charity groups like the Rebel Legion and Droid Builders. She's too young to be an official member of either group, but she loves seeing the way her mom's droid, Chopper, makes people smile, so she's been working on her own mini droid, Chopper Jr!
Tumblr media
They may not be related by blood (Dawn's adopted older brother Ezra is Danny's uncle by marriage--Dawn was born when Ezra was seventeen) but Danny and Dawn still consider each other family, and Danny always makes time for Dawn when she has questions about robotics or just wants to geek out over some cool new innovation she's discovered!

Hera was perched awkwardly on the top bunk in Sabine’s room, feet dangling down to the booth below. Kanan stood with his back pressed into the durasteel wall, both Rebel leaders stuck listening to the soft, keening groans coming from the fever stricken Mandalorian, twitching and shifting under her blankets, stilling only slightly when the Twi’lek’s hand reached and settled on her leg. “Kanan, she’s still in her armor,” Hera realized with an understanding sigh.
“Want me to..?” His head jabbed towards the door, there had to be medicine somewhere on board, or maybe he could get Chop to look up the old Pog soup recipe the Clones used to make… He couldn’t just sit there and listen to her hurting.
“Please,” Hera offered a warm smile, squeezing his arm when he reached to pat her leg on his way out. “Thanks, love,”
“Anything for you guys,” He pulled a lopsided smirk on his face before the door slid shut behind him.
Running her fingers along Sabine’s sweat-damp forehead, Hera let her heart ache for just a moment, thumb following the slope of the Mandalorian’s nose as she drew closer to the hand on her face. “Kaa'lia,” There was a crack of a golden eye opening, foggy with sleep and sickness. “ ‘bine, I’m going to help you get your armor off, alright?”
“Buir?” Sabine rasped, chest rattling before she was turning her head to the side to cough into the pillows.
Hera didn’t know a lick of Mando’a, but she did know Sabine; knew the strained an nearly invisible relationship with her family, knew the Mandalorian was plagued by nightmares not from the battlefield, but from whatever it was that had happened with her family, and Hera knew what it sounded like, when a child called out for a parent to protect them, in her time since bringing Sabine on board, she also learned the agonizing feeling of those calls going unanswered.
I’m sorry, Sabine, I’m not your mother. She should have clarified, she should have waited until the young woman pushed through enough of the haze to recognize her; instead, emerald fingers brushed through tousled black and orange dyed hair, lungs squeezing painfully at the way she melted into her hand. “I’m right here, I’m not going anywhere,” She promised instead, thumb brushing against overheated skin as Sabine nuzzled into her. “But we need to get this armor off of you, sweetheart.”
Even sitting up with Hera’s support seemed to be too much for the Mandalorian, who was thrown into a coughing fit the moment she was sitting up. Leaning across the small space between them, Sabine’s cheek pressed into Hera’s shoulder, hands reaching for her armor and fumbling uselessly with the straps.
It was hard work, moving around a clingy Mandalorian who kept putting their hands right where she needed to go, but before long, Hera had each piece of armor changed, and even managed to get the young woman into proper sleep clothes, free of the sweat and dirt from their last mission before the woman had disappeared into her room.
“Hera..?” Sabine croaked as the Twi’lek bundled her back into the bunk, “Me’bana?”
“Gave us a bit of a fright,” Hera soothed, tucking the blanket once more, needing something to do with her hands. “How are you feeling?”
“Like bantha shit wrapped in a sarlac’s digestive lining,” Burrowing further into the nest Hera had helped her back into, the Mandalorian tucked her face into the blankets, stifling her wheezing breaths with the thick fabric.
“You’re gonna melt yourself in there, you know,” Though Hera couldn’t bring herself to suggest she thin out the blankets, not when the girl’s legs curled closer to her chest and her shoulders shook from feverish chills.
“Ciyrc,” Teeth clattering, Sabine poked her head away from the warmth of the blankets, sniffling as she tried to hold the shivering and trembling in her chest. “Can I go back to sleep now?”
“Of course,” Hera made to jump off the bunk, though she was stopped by a clammy hand brushing her wrist, as if the woman had gone to grab her, but decided too late that whatever she wanted wasn’t worth it. “Or… Maybe I can stay a bit, make sure your fever doesn’t spike again,” Settling back in, the captain watched the poorly hidden relief, knowing that the Mandalorian wouldn’t ask for what she really wanted.
By the time Kanan returned with a bowl of soup, the cabin was once again filled with the deep sounds of Sabine’s breathing, embraced by slumber and thankfully still compared to when Chopper had tattled on the distressed noises from the artist’s room.
“How’s she doing?” Kanan lowered his voice as he reentered Sabine’s quarters, setting the steaming bowl of soup onto the one clear spot on the table underneath the bunk.
“She woke up for a few minutes, got her armor off of her… Looking up,” Hera finally slid off the bunk, letting Kanan help steady her with a hand on her waist.
“She isn’t out of it yet,” The Jedi settled his hand on the edge of the bunk. “Come on, I’ll go put this away, if she wakes up, I’ll warm it up for her.”
“So the trick to getting you to clean up is for one of the kids to get sick?”
“I’d make a great house spouse, if you’re trying to say otherwise, you know. Now come on, you’ll scare the poor kid if you watch her sleep all night,”
▬▬ι═══════>
“Hera?” Sabine croaked as consciousness slowly ebbed into her mind. Everything was heavy, her head was swimming, and she was positively freezing. Bleary golden eyes searched the expanse of her quarters, it looked exactly like it had when she’d gone to bed that morning… or was it afternoon? When she looked over to the pink and orange chrono tucked near the top of the bunk blinked, a fault running during the night stopping the time from updating.
Several minutes of tired, confused self loathing passed before Sabine called out again. “Kanan?” A cough racked her body, bringing the young Mandalorian curling in on herself, shoulders shaking as her lungs refused to suck in the oxygen she needed.
The door slid open with a hiss, overshadowed by the gasping breaths, her chest heaving as she leevelled her breathing out once more. The eyes that settled on her fetal form sent a spike of ice directly to her stomach, rising bile to the back of her throat that she needed to swallow back before daring to lift her gaze.
This… had to be a nightmare, people didn’t come back from the dead. Still, the metallic odor of burning blood itched her nose, serving to further upset her stomach as she forced herself to sit up. Satine Kryze watched each of her movements with cold, dead eyes.
“Duchess,” Sabine’s feet hit the floor with a heavy thud, knees and hands following as weakness in her muscles refused to let her stand before the deceased ruler of Mandalore.
“They aren’t coming,” The ghastly tone of her voice had Sabine squeezing her eyes shut, begging herself to wake with each reverbation in her head. “When they do, it will be too late.” Her hand was skeletal where it breached the blue silk of her sleeve, graying skin mottled and decaying as she reached for the evidence of a wound in her abdomen.
Sabine didn’t dare risk to speak, throat bobbing with the effort it took to keep the persistent stomach acid from fighting it’s way past her throat. “They don’t care about you, ad’ika,” Golden eyes tore from the paint splattered steel of the floor, forcing herself to maintain eye contact with the reanimated, rotting corpse of the Pacifist leader she’d looked up to so much growing up.
“They care about what you can do for them,” The door never shut behind Satine when she entered, giving Sabine a clear view of the hallway from her spot on the floor.
“Hey, Hera!” Ezra’s voice echoed from the nose gun before growing closer. “ ‘bine left a bunch of old drawings in the turret, you want ‘em?” Ezra passed the door with a stack of Sabine’s drawings, the ones she’d specifically hidden in the cushion of the nose gun’s chair so no one would see her more private drawings of both of her families.
Hera’s head poked into the hallway, catching Ezra in time to peer at the drawings. “They don’t look important, you can toss them with the rest of her stuff,”
Chopper made a warbling sound, which turned into a fast paced beeping. “Yes Chop, I know! Just wait till we land, once we sell what’s left, we’ll go get you those upgrades,” Ezra patted the small droid’s head, sticking a tongue out in retaliation after he was shocked for his actions.
“Why…” Sabine’s voice caught in her throat as she swallowed another crashing wave of vomit. “Why are they acting like I’m dead?”
“Laar'senar’ika… you are dead,” The corpse had the decency to at least pretend to look sympathetic- Sabine wished she wouldn’t, wished the image of Lady Kryze’s rotting form would stop looking at her like that, wished this didn’t feel so real, wished she would just wake up!
▬▬ι═══════>
Her body smacked into the ground below with a harsh thud, pain flaring up from her tailbone and up her spine, legs tangled in her blankets and tears leaking down her face. When she looked to the door, she saw only the spray painted lines of a stormtrooper helmet with a giant X across it.
Tears ran free and hot down her face, acidic saliva smeared across the side of her face, and the pungent odor of stomach acid in the air, thick in the sheets wrapped around her body. “Duhaa’la,” She rasped, fighting to untangle herself with cramping limbs.
“Sabine!” The door hissed open to Ezra’s worried shout of her name, though it was Hera who blocked him from being able to see into the room. “Hey, are you okay? We heard a crash?” He was trying so hard to duck around the captain, bouncing on his toes as Kanan tugged him back.
“Come on,” He chided, pulling his Padawan back into his chest. “Somebody missed scrubbing practice yesterday,” Hera’s head bowed in quiet thanks as the only real ‘kid’ on board was led as far from Sabine’s room as Kanan could get him. Hera knelt down beside Sabine with a soft ‘tssk’.
Hera was quiet as she helped untangle Sabine from her dreamland acquired prison. Truly, she was the best of them all, taking the state of the sheets and the dried sour residue staining Sabine’s sleep clothes in stride.
“Hera?” Sabine started, leaning back against the booth of the bottom bunk, too-hot forehead pressed against the cool durasteel as the Twi’lek gathered the ruined sheets into a pile.
“Yes, dear?” The older woman’s attention turned to her at once, her hand coming to rest on the Mandalorian’s knee as she settled onto the floor beside her.
Another stretch of heavy silence as the young woman debated herself, twisting her hands together uncomfortably in her lap, Sabine decided it was best to bite the bullet. “If..” A huff of air as she gave up on twisting her fingers to wrap her arms around herself. “It’s stupid, nevermind,”
“Sabine Wren,” Hera’s tone was joking, playfully, it helped her breathe again, though she could still pick out the tone she used for her ‘captain’ voice. “I’ve seen you face entire Imperial squads alone and I’ve seen you when you’ve run out of paint, there isn’t anything that’s going to scare us away, and even less that would make any of us stop caring,”
Brows furrowing, Sabine’s eyes rose to meet Hera’s, nearly recoiled from the intensity in her own personal oceans. “How did you…?”
“You talk in your sleep, Kaa'lia,” Hera admitted with a kind laugh as she shifted enough to press into Sabine’s side. “We aren’t going anywhere, Sabine. And if we go anywhere, we’ll do it as a family.” The Mandalorian tucked into Hera’s side readily, happy for the support to keep herself up, even as exhaustion and fear threatened to drag her down.
“Hey, none of that,” Hera’s shoulder bounced, effectively halting the slow descent back into consciousness. “You didn’t eat or drink anything yesterday, and Kanan spent hours slaving over a hot stove just for you,” The woman’s fingertip flicked Sabine’s nose, causing her face to scrunch up. “And you could use a shower, There should still be some hot water in the tanks if you want it,”
“Could you..Stay?” Her cheeks warmed at the vocalization of it, but Hera didn;t seem phased, nodding her head and pressing her forehead gently into the side of Sabine’s.
“Of course.”
Sabine didn’t crawl back into her own bed that night, after cleaning up, she found herself firmly wrapped up in Hera and Kanan’s bed, a cramped party in the too small quarters as everyone tried to pile in close to Sabine, bowls of reheated Pog soup passed around between everyone.
“Kanan, where did you learn to make this?” The young woman was appalled that someone so… decisively not Mandalorian, would be able to make the comforting dish like the elders.
The man to her right shook his head, arm stretching across her back to reach for Hera’s shoulder, tugging both human and Twi’lek close, smooshing the Mandalorian between them. “That’s a story for another day,”
“Hey!” Ezra complained, clambering painfully from his position laying across their legs to work himself between Sabine and Ezra. “You guys got her all to yourselves yesterday, We wanna make sure she’s okay too!”
Balancing her bowl so it didn’t spill, Sabine rolled her eyes at Ezra’s antics, bumping her elbow into his ribs as he wiggled into a comfortable spot. “Zeb, are you joining in?”
The Lasat rubbed the back of his neck at Kanan’s question. “I don’t know, you guys have smelled me,”
Passing her bowl off to Hera, Sabine wriggled enough to lay her legs out. “Come on, before we change our minds,”
He wasted no time in accepting the invitation, taking Ezra’s spot, with several groans of complaints at the tank of a man laying on them, though eventually, everyone managed to get comfortable. Hera’s hand resting on Choppers head, the droid rolled up close to the well overcrowded bunk, knowing throwing him in the pile would truly be the straw to break the Tauntaun’s back.
As Ezra rolled into a greatly exaggerated tale of his Jedi training, Sabine let herself sink back into Hera’s arm. “How are you feeling?” She whispered into the tired Mandalorian’s ear, unable to stifle her smile when the artist turned to nuzzle closer into her.
“Jate’shya, Buir,” Sabine grumbled, voice thick as sleep wrapped her close in its inviting arms once more.
Kanan’s head snapped to the two women, eyes wide at the language, words Hera had no hope of understanding and words he’d been taught once, in another life. “What?” Hera whispered defensively, brows furrowing at the look on his face.
“Nothing…” A smirk pulled onto her lips- Hera wished she didn’t have all these sleeping kids in her bed, just in case she’d need to throw something at him. “Mom.” His voice was equal parts teasing and warm, warm like the feeling in Hera’s heart, and warm like the Mandalorian, her sama in her arms.
Translations Twi'leki: Kaa'lia - Love Sama - Daughter Mando'a: Buir - Parent (used as 'mom' for the purpose of this fic) Me'bana? - What's happening? Ciyrc - Cold Laar'senar’ika - Little singing bird Duhaa'la - Sick Jate'shya, Buir - Better, mom
