Last night I had a dream that fae!Price’s darling was a witchy gal, her grandmother taught her about the fae when she was young. I’m talking warded up house, always carrying iron and salt, candles herbs and crystals the whole nine yards. They met in the flower shop after she got a weird vibe, looked through a hagstone and Saw him. He showed up in her garden and she gave him mead she made to make up for her rudeness. She will do small acts of kindness but specify that they are “freely given” to avoid tethering. I was reading your blog right before bed lol. I like the idea of debt holder Price and a (from a fae perspective) slippery darling that he just can’t catch unless she wants to be caught

*Holding the grimoire I wrote as a senior capstone in College* Oh you want witch shit? I can give you witch shit. Let's keep trying out Price's darlings, the only thing I require for her is that she have the most knowledge of the fae because she's dealing with the big kid one. (Here's where I mention that I also have a potential witch darling for Gaz so keep that in mind)

He's been hanging around your garden, just by your back gate, right where your grandmother planted rosemary so many years ago. You greet him every time you pass by, careful never to reach over the brick wall that separates you. He's friendly, but you're not so easily fooled.

"Good morning," you smile at him, watering the herbs on your side of the fence. He leans against the brick to watch you. Eyes heavy as they slide over you, tracing the sway of your skirt where it skims your thighs.

"How's my pretty witch doing today?" He asks voice thick and promising. He's just as careful to avoid your iron watering can as you are to keep it from splashing him. You find the residual warding properties tend to soak into the water. Your family has always maintained a strong threshold for the home.

"Better seeing you," you joke, returning the compliment as easily as can be. You never miss the heat in his eyes, the danger just below his friendly facade.

"I brought you something."

"That's very kind of you," you tell him, "I think the tomatoes are ripe, I'll send you off with some for the trouble."

"No trouble, I wanted to bring it."

"Oh but I couldn't accept a gift without repaying you, it would be rude of me."

"Repay me later," he growls, and you smile a little wider. You like this dance, you've never had a fae try so hard to get their hooks in you. You set down your watering can and lean against the brick across from him. Your weight resting on your elbows, the threshold humming between you.

"But I can repay you now."

"It's a gift."

"Gifts have strings."

"Then it isn't a gift," he says, mirroring your posture.

"Then what is it?" You ask, his eyes flick to your chest, appreciative, wanting. His confidence is charming, or it would be if you were the sort of person to take the fae at face value.

"A name," Your smile drops, your heart jumping up your throat. He must see the panic in your eyes because his smile widens. "Not to keep, just... to call me when we talk." Your pulse tries to slow from the impact of panic. He did that on purpose, you try not to look too rattled by this. You try to think of an appropriate repayment.

"I can't tell you mine."

"I know." He purrs, pleased with himself for catching you in your own defenses. You feel a chill graze your skin through the threshold, the edge of Winter. He knows exactly the corner he's backing you into. He gives you time to think through your options, to panic at the weight of his offer.

"I don't-"

"I know." He pushes, tapping against the solid line between you. You've never had the sight, but you can feel his magic collide with yours as he hits the threshold. You toy with the hagstone on your necklace, the worn stone warm from your skin under your fingers. "Witch," he warns.

"I'm still thinking."

"Think as long as you want," He leans closer, "but call me Price while you do."

Your heart stops, your thoughts grinding to a halt as well. Price. It fits him. You feel the silver thread searching for purchase in your soul, and break one of your long standing rules.

You lean over the threshold and kiss him. Because you know he wants to have some part of you, and you know he wants you on the wrong side of the fence. The thread breaks as his hand slides to cup your cheek, tipping your head as his lips slide against yours. It's your first one, and you think it's worth the price of his name.

His beard sort of tickles but his lips are soft and insistent, and you lean a little further over the wall to stay close. His hands are entreating, coaxing you further across the threshold. His teeth dig into your lip and you open for him, let him drag his tongue against yours as his fingers thread through your hair. You feel your feet leave the ground, the brick digging into your hands as you put your weight on them. The pain is enough to bring you back to your senses. You don't know what would happen if you let him take you.

Price sighs as you pull away and settle back on your side of the wall. He feels a thread hook in him. You've overpaid. He values your touch more than you apparently did, how fortunate for him. And unfortunate for you.

"i don't get why we had to be sent away DURING the holiday season. the council couldn't have waited?"

you grumbled some variation of this under your breath for several minutes straight while preparing the flight out to dantooine

and obi agrees

the two of you are being sent on a long-term operative mission. there's no daily wars or hard combat to face—it was more of a stakeout of sorts—but still, you had to stay alert. just in case

you were mainly upset at the fact that you couldn't relax in your quarters or with your family for the holidays

obi-wan, sensing your blues, decides that he's not going to let that ruin the festivities

you're staying in a quaint little home for the next few weeks. it's plainly, but relatively tidy

"there's a life day market in town! we can pick some food up there, and decorations, if you're up for it" obi had suggested, so that's what you end up doing

while at the market, which is bustling with people from all over the galaxy (you later find out that dantooine's life day market is one of the biggest there is), the two of you are mistaken for a married couple

but hey, the status gets you several discounts on fresh fruit

even after you leave the produce booth, he keeps his hand interlocked with yours

(and you like it. though you'd die before admitting it lol)

you haul several giant bags and baskets of supplies back to your place

(correction, obi-wan does most of the heavy lifting. you're only carrying the tree decorations so you look like a tangled bundle of color that has no start or end)

it takes you everything you have not to stare at how his arms flex when he moves things

you didn't realize obi had a creative side to himself, so when you let him take charge of decorating, you didn't know what to expect

but once the two of you finish decorating you're pretty amazed

the tree glitters with woven string lights and ornaments that look like stars plucked straight from the heavens, shining in hues of rose gold and ivory white

"it's so beautiful," you exhaled

"indeed, it is," obi-wan replied, but he wasn't even looking at the light fixtures (he was looking at you instead)

you're about to unpack the groceries and start cooking but he stops you in your tracks, placing his hands on your shoulders and giving them a gentle squeeze

"let me handle this, darling. i insist," he says—and you can feel your face growing warm at the term of endearment

so you sit down by the fireplace with a blanket around your shoulders and watch as he carefully cuts up the starfruit and places it in a porcelain bowl, dices the meat and vegetables, and pours hot chocolate (you made a mental note to ask him later which booth that was from) into two mugs

for a moment you get completely lost in the idea of living a peaceful, domestic life with him. one where you wake up every morning to the fresh smell of coffee and berries and are greeted with a tight embrace

but you're brought back to reality with the reminder that technically, you're on a mission right now, and you're both jedi

so no amount of wishing and praying will make any bit of that domestic life come true

"you've been so quiet," he suddenly speaks up

"just...tired," you reply, and it's the truth. the entire flight over, you didn't sleep a wink—you always had trouble falling asleep

he decides not to question you further—he knows what's bothering you; he always does

dinner is amazing as always—you're good at cooking, too, but your skills pale in comparison to what obi has

after you eat, you sit down by the fireplace, wrapped up in several thick blankets with steaming hot chocolate in hand

"how long has it been since you last saw your family?" he asks

"seven years," you say. "we write letters to each other, but you know, given my schedule, it's hard to pay them a visit. i hardly see them anymore..."

"i can be your family, then," he offers with a sad smile

and you feel your heartbeat pick up speed just a little

not because you're secretly in love with him...of course not lmao

but because he's always been here for you and continues to be

you lean against him and close your eyes and just. take him in

like. how does this man smell so good...

it's as if he bathed in every warm and comforting scent you could think of

and you can almost pretend that you're right back home in the arms of the one you love, and not millions of miles away on a foreign moon

(jokes on you, he is your new home)

you're not sure how long you stay cuddled up like that for, but you wouldn't mind if it lasted for the entirety of your mission

"you know i love you," he says quietly after he thinks you've fallen asleep, and he gently kisses your forehead

but you manage to whisper back an "i love you too" before drifting off

obi-wan finally feels at peace

& so do you

6. Domestic Pairing(s): Cherik, Xavierine, Cherigan(?) Warnings: N/A

This is a little snippet from my Charles Xavier's Baby verse, where Charles' secondary mutation and poor life choices nets him a set of twins courtesy of Erik and Logan.

By the time Charles and the girls are discharged, Raven has moved out and Erik and Logan have moved into the apartment. He feels bad about his sister leaving to accommodate his newly extended family, but also relieved that everything was sorted without any drama. They even have enough room to fit everyone somewhat comfortably, with Erik taking Raven’s old room and Logan decamped in the study-now-nursery, and the babies in their bassinets in Charles’ bedroom.

Even with three people it’s far from easy, especially the first few days back as they adjust to a new normal. Charles is still recuperating from his C-section and being confined to bed rest (not by the doctors but by Logan and Erik), while the other two do most of the feeding and changing. Thankfully, his secondary mutation hasn’t given him the ability to produce milk, so it’s doesn’t fall to Charles alone to ensure that the twins are fed every three hours.

Of the two newborns, Lorna is the more challenging one, difficult to settle and too easy to disturb. Laura by contrast sleeps for long stretches, and they have to actually wake her to give her the bottle. Because of that, Laura ends up mostly sleeping soundly by Charles’ bed, while Logan and Erik alternate shifts with Lorna in their arms, pacing the apartment to calm the fussy baby. None of the adults really get all that much sleep, though they figure out a system by the third day, when Charles insists on taking a shift, giving both Logan and Erik the chance to sleep longer than an hour or two at a time.

It helps too that Raven and Edie are both so eager to help, running errands for more supplies (Raven) and ensuring that the fridge is crammed full of ready to eat meals (Edie). They’re especially grateful to have Edie’s calming presence, providing information and giving advice to three bachelors who know next to nothing about babies. And she is over the moon to finally have grandchildren to love, doting on them equally and without reservation, uncaring that only one of the girls is biologically related to her.

Charles counts his blessings every day, that he’s surrounded by people who love the girls as much as he does, which is so much more than he ever thought possible.

Of course, it also means there are more people around to gang up on him, including his best friend Moira, who is kind enough to make house calls so they don’t have to make the trek to her office for checkups. She is happy with the girls’ weight gain and their health in general, and tell them all to keep up the good work. She is less supportive of Charles holing up in the apartment and not venturing outside, and suggests that he go out with Raven for lunch and a breath of fresh air. It’s more order than recommendation, and Charles finds himself bundled out the door by his co-parents with instructions not to return for at least two hours.

(He absolutely does NOT spend those two hours quietly obsessing about the babies, alternately relieved to be ‘Charles’ and not ‘new Dad to twins’ for a little while, and freaking out over the fact that this is the first time he he’s been away from Lorna and Laura since they were born.)

“They’re not answering my texts, Raven! Why aren’t they answering my texts!”

“They’ve probably got their hands full taking care of the babies! Now put your phone down and finish your food!”

Rationally, he knows the girls are perfectly fine; that they couldn’t be in better hands than they are with Erik and Logan. But he still worries all the rest of the way home, until he opens the door to the apartment and finds all four of them sprawled in the living room fast asleep. Quietly, he takes out his phone to snap a picture – Logan is sleeping on the couch with Lorna on his chest, while Laura is cuddled against a conked-out Erik on the leather recliner – and sends it to Raven, who replies immediately with:

Told you they were fine. Idiot.

He smiles, heart swelling at the perfect picture, realizing how much he loves them all…the girls of course, plus Erik. And Logan.

Erik and Logan.

“Dammit,” he mutters under his breath, and resolutely puts that particular problem away to deal with another day.

ffxivwrite 2023: fair

Edda Puffin knew she wasn't exactly anyone's definition of a fair maiden, but she still tried her best. White sundress, big straw hat stuck with daisies, chunky coral jewelry, strappy sandals. She was in charge of the flower stall this year at the Aleport County Fair, although she wished she wasn't. Her big sister Ayleth fit the image of a flower seller much better, with her pink dress and pink ribbon and braided hair. As she carefully packed bouquets onto the family chocobo, Edda calculated all the different ways she might shirk work and go eat her weight in fair food.

The Puffin Flower Farm was one of many farms in Halfstone that had a stall at the fair, for it was one of the biggest money-making events of the year. Visitors from all over came to sample Aleport's brews, and the more they drank, the more they spent on food. Enterprising culinarians bought so much local fruits and produce that chocobo carts carrying farm fresh crops ran nonstop back and forth from Halfstone to Aleport all hours of the day. The fair was also a popular destination for lovebirds, and the Puffins made a pretty penny selling bouquets and corsages and flower crowns. They also sold flower garlands and streamers to the fair staff in all the colors they asked for--crimson Bloodshore roselles, soft pink lilybells, glowing white raincatchers, cerulean moongrasses, bright yellow sunflowers.

Last time she was at the fair, Edda had been seeing a Highlander girl called Marnie, whose parents were sommeliers. Marnie was tall and graceful with a sailor style dress and a delicate parasol to shield her from the sun, and she seemed too high class for a farm girl, but Edda impressed her by flawlessly playing the entire fiddle solo for Menphina's song. The bowstring snapped afterwards, and Marnie laughed delightedly as Edda struggled to find a replacement. Then Marnie went home back to Aleport, and Edda never got in touch with her again.

Such was the way of things. No use leaving a heart in pieces over sudden summer romances. Edda bundled away the last of her flowers, and set off.

He doesn’t have to give up everything, or… at least not forever. How long does it take before kids become mobile enough to hold a controller?

It’s going to be somewhat of an adventure. It’ll be somewhat pioneering in a sense. Not in the way of planning a new attack or kidnapping or planning someone’s death, but planning someone’s life instead. He’s created life as opposed to what he always does with those hands of his. He’s created life, he’ll have to take care of a life, care for a life, send that life into the world so that it’s not just alive but living. It’s humbling in the same way it’s glorified. So much responsibility. Life suddenly feels longer, eventful, important, dutiful and not just his playground, not just his blood-field, not just something to watch burn, but something to better.

SHINSO HITOSHI

Oh no. A baby? He’s not prepared for this. He’s so used to things being avoidable, or delayable at the least, this isn’t avoidable, this is happening whether he wants it or not, sooner than he can control. That stresses him out more than anything, the state of not having any control over the situation, leaving him frustrated, sporadic, afraid. He suddenly knows nothing about anything, his mouth is constantly dry, and he finds himself thinking of how strange and heavy the weight of his tongue feels to distract himself from the mess he’s created. And the only reason to it being a mess is because he has no idea how to protect everything from breaking into shambles. That’s more or less what breaks him the most, knowing how he’s most likely the one to ruin everything, that failure will probably be his fault.

He manages to calm down somewhat. His darling, in all her natural maternal feline instincts knows more or less what to do and how to do it, not really needing Hitoshi to provide her with anything on his own but what she tells him to do. And, despite needing to constantly hold the reigns, Hitoshi’s surprisingly glad or relieved more than anything, that his darling took the wheel so effortlessly. God knows he had no clue what to do. But, he has questions; bundles and mountains of inhuman questions. How many kids do Neko’s usually produce, when normal kitty litters sum up to nine kittens? Can he take care of nine kittens?! His darling doesn’t have nine nipples so he guesses that doesn’t make much biological sense. What else: how will a mini version of him look like? What more: what will a mini version of him with a cat’s features look like? Lastly: how does he feel about that?

He’ll help in the ways he still knows how. Cleaning makes up for most of it, since food has never been his specialty and now that food is significantly more important, he lets his darling control that too. Messaging and petting and cuddles making up for the rest of his helpfulness, which often gets frustrating for the both of them, given that they’re used to a certain spontaneous erotic lifestyle that now is out of reach.

TAKAMI KEIGO - HAWKS

Satisfaction. Finally, his little songbird needs him. Soon she’ll barely be able to walk on her own, she’ll need him for everything, be completely dependent on him, no longer in position to afford scowling at him or barking or biting or scratching or screaming. Knowing how something very soon will take her place in those extremities, and how they both will be exhausted and on the same side for once. He’s got it all figured out, he’s going to take a couple years off, to stay on with birdie number one and birdie number two. The days will be short but buzzing, between breakfast and collapsing into bed with his darling once the hours run to a close, waking up to screams that seem so welcoming and not at all like the onset of death as other parents make it out to be.

He can see it all so clearly. Soft-tinted days of baby-food and building-blocks and flying lessons, their baby with either his inherited crimson wings or his darling’s coat of pearl-white angel-feathers, perhaps a mix of both, how their little angel will fly from his arms to his darling’s arms, falling at times, but learning and prospering, becoming the embodiment of greatness. He can’t help but wonder how beautiful their child will become, being the product of himself and his darling, they’ll probably look godsend or like an actual god on earth. Wondering if they’ll have golden hair and golden eyes like him or satin hair and doe-eyes like his darling, how a mix of the two of them could be called perfection itself.

But, first things first. He doesn’t have time to humor his daydreams too much, never mind how tempting when they’re so close he can almost taste them. His darling needs him more than whatever imagines he conjures up. His instincts kick in, yet his humanity has last say in most of the decisions he has to make. The nest not being made up of sticks and mud like he was gravitating towards, but of pillows and blankets and plushies. Food not being made up of worms and insects but human cooking instead. Other than that he’ll stay in bed with his darling, stroking her feathers and feel her relax and stretch each time he hits a particular soft spot, listening to that special type of moan he’ll argue is the softest sound in the world.

MIDORIYA IZUKU - DEKU

It’s cute of her to think its big news. It’s cute to watch her walk around pondering, wondering what’s wrong with her. Why her breasts are larger, sensitive, tender. Mistaking her morning sickness, rushing to the bathroom gulping, for being under the weather. Silly little thing, even more so with her pregnancy brain, walking around all cute and clueless. He enjoys the show, strokes her hair in a petting fashion, smirk irked in the corner of his lips and though it was small it spoke volumes, but what surprised her even more wasn’t the condescension she was met with but how relieved she felt upon understanding he had everything under control, something she used to hate, now feeling like a blessing, knowing how she was in… not exactly good hands… but something like it, something more capable than hers.

He is so prepared it borders on ridicules. It’s strange, for as long as she’s known him he’s always been so sure of himself, but now, glimpses from his youth shine through his composure of self-confidence. He’s nervous. The old rebellious her would poke fun at him, but she evolved, she’s survived, and she knows better. Besides, if he falls apart, what’s then left for her to do but follow suite? The new her comforts him with what she knows is true, having learnt that he doesn’t appreciate lies either. She tells him that he’s far away from his own father, because she knows that he will never leave her, soon to be them, as she stroked his unruly hair, kissed his forehead, squeezed his hand, smiled, told him that she loved him. And again, he knew before her that she meant it, she’d understand some time later that her dependence and his guidance created perfect symbiosis, equaled love, just like he had predicted.

The baby is the last of the puzzle-pieces, everything finally falling into place. She’s able to see him as more than something to fear like god, but as something human, as he rocks their baby in those massive scarred arms of his, his smile not nearly as unsettling as she once found it, but warm. And Izuku will finally see his darling as more than something to protect and to keep, something more than to love, as she bounces their child on her knee, that glow she used to have returning, he’ll not just see something to take, but something he already owns, as though some fog has lifted, he’ll feel proud, he’ll feel respect, he’ll feel happy, and he can say that it was all worth it and she can say that she forgives him.

CHISAKI KAI - OVERHAUL

Kai seems unfazed. It’s a lot to wrap one’s head around. He treats it awfully alike one would handle a business deal. Weighing the pros and cons and benefits and payments. Bringing a life into the world, a life that’s partly your own and partly the one you love. Does it mean he will love their spawn just as much as he loves his darling, that seems hard to believe. Does it mean he has to, that he’s expected to? Will his darling love the baby more than him? He heard that the love found between mothers and their children is insurmountable. Will he have to separate them to get the attention he needs? Will that make her hate him again? Will she perhaps love him more, now that the product of their love has come to fruition?

There are so many variables, so much to consider, and so painfully little time to get it all sorted out. He’s exhausted and on the border of grossed out. Between morning sickness and unpredictable mood-swings. He heard pregnant ladies are supposed to glow, he doesn’t see it. Don’t get him wrong, he thinks his darling is beautiful, but… she’s huge. He thought she was clumsy before, but damage was at a minimum when she was practically half his size, now she’s like a walking wreaking-ball. He can’t imagine how she will ever be able to… deliver something that seems to be taking half of the space inside her. He’s actually feeling anxious about the whole ordeal, trying to suffice his growing fears in a search for pregnant-aiding quirks.

And don’t get him started on the pregnancy brain. It’s not just her limbs that are everywhere at once, her brain is scattered like the aftermath of a shotgun, she barely pays him any mind anymore. All those hours spent teaching her proper manners, seems wasted and forgotten now, seeing how she eats like some animal then falls asleep, snoring with no thanks to spare him. He feels neglected to say the least and he can’t help but dread the time the baby actually comes around, knowing how the event will grant him no more attention than what he’s given now, probably robbing him of even more time with his precious darling.

TODOROKI SHOTO

He’s not leaving his darling’s side for a second. She’s holding his baby, possible babies, carrying them inside her belly, keeping them safe, so of course he needs to keep her safe too. Safe and comfortable and loved. He holds off on the unorthodox play until after the birth and probably sometime past it as well, no punishments than can cause stress, no fun and games and edge-play, nothing but soft touches, nothing but pillows and blankets and rosehip baths and soppy romantic films, cuddling, messages, words that are too sweet it almost becomes lifedraining. He’ll be so doting, so feather-light, she’ll nearly beg for him to give her just one measly frostbite burn, just one scorch-mark, but he won’t answer her prayers. They will be doing nothing that can cause duress, nothing at all.

He's in such mission-mode. More so than when he’s actually on a mission. This happening, this great chapter in their lives, this beginning of new life, seems so severely more important than anything else the world has to offer, nothing can distract him, no grade A villains, no threats to the world, no matter how much a friend or family member might need him, this pregnancy is paramount. He’s not going to put anything before his darling or their little bundle of joy happily coming to life inside her, blooming with potential. He’s not going to mess everything up like his father did, he’s adamant on not letting that happen. He’s going to be good. Everything’s going to be good. Happy. Perfect.

The only other thing he does, next to doting on his darling, is thinking and humoring what type of father he’s going to be, what type of father he should be, what type of father he has to be. Should he be strict, pushing his child to achieve greatness, milking their potential until they drain? Should he be liberal, letting his child run their own show, chase their own dreams no matter how wrong a path it seems? What did he want as a child?... Love. He wanted love. He wanted to be listened to, to be heard, to be helped. He wanted a friend, not just a teacher. He wanted to feel safe. He knows what type of father he wants to be, but… he knows it won’t be easy, it’s not meant to be easy, but he’s not one to back away from a challenge.
