grasping what it means to be chronically ill can be hard for people, as it can be different for each person. But most of us understand chronic fatigue, days of pain that feels like it will never end, being stuck in bed, having to set reminders to take necessary medications medications. Chronic illness is not a joke. It takes time to adjust to having s chronic illness.

So don't be an asshole when your chronically ill friends cancel on you. The about of energy I use trying to take care of myself on a daily basis doesn't much left for anything else. And understand they may have different needs, completely different foods to help deal with their conditions. Mobility aids, and parking closer to buildings. I can not stress enough, please park close for them. Understand that chronic illness is exactly that: chronic.

The movie plays on and Buck relaxes into the evening, thoughts about his feelings for Eddie fading away until their hands brush together as they both reach for the popcorn. Buck whips his hand back like he’d burnt it and stutters out an apology. He can feel a blush blooming on his cheeks and when he chances a glance at Eddie as his best friend stutters out an apology of his own, Buck sees that he is also sporting a blush.

Buck remembers the first time he saw Eddie blush, almost two years ago now at that gender reveal explosion. He remembers seeing Eddie’s cheeks go pink and just thinking god, he's pretty. A lot has changed since that day, but Buck still thinks a blushing Eddie Diaz is one of the prettiest things in the world.

I know Cardinal's Map is fake but I'm obsessed with the idea of it so much

Me too! And the worse part is that I like the fake version so much that it feels like I've already read it, so there's no way to make a real version that could live up to it. At best, it would be an inferior adaptation.

Even if I get past that, and try to think of how one could adapt it, I realize just how little actually exists of the story; I've got two character names and a basic premise, but no idea what the portal fantasy world is like or what the plot of the story would actually be. Plus, Cardinal's portal fantasy would show up as passages of a book-within-a-book, which would nicely maintain the Imaginary Book Recs atmosphere, but would require one to make up a whole other book with its own literary style (because even if we only see pieces of it, we'd have to know what happens). The book is a nice little daydream, but turning it into an actual story would require so much work, only to wind up with something that wouldn't live up to the book as it exists in my imagination, and that makes me sad.
