Latin MC.
My MC.
I know; “if I wanted to be reading about a MC I would rather read mine.”  Well I want to talk about her, because I want you all to meet her!
It's a tragedy that I can't draw her, because I suck at drawing!
Her name is Yukari, all my OCs will be named Yukari If you find my profile in Obey Me! We can be friends!!! Anyways.
Her full name is Verónica Yukari Perez Aguilar, she was born the 22 of June, in Mexico (She´s from the center of the Republic) As a good Mexican and Latin American she has a BIG family, the 25% of her blood is indigenous. (Her grandfather is 100% indigenous) and she will always brag about it.
Characteristics.
Small really small. Her height is 1.45 (4.76 feet... enserio ¿Por qué no se conformaron con los centímetros?)  brown wavy hair, even thought she bleached and coloured it in red. She always use dresses and shirts with a whole in her back, she has a lot of tatoos and she olny has one in her spine, the pact with Beel. Of course when she made a pact with every demon her back became black because of the ink and pacts, she use a lot of black, dark lipstick and tons of eyeliner, but just for speciall events, Yukari is way to lazy to make her make up every single day.
Her first interaction with the devils was not even natural, they imagine the new exchange student was pure, but nope. Her whole family is good with magic and more than that, when she was young accidentaly call upon Belzebuub, they made a pact in exchange of food and horchata water, after that they kinda became good friends. She was (10 years old and she was bored).
The “Kidnap” by the other hand... Her whole family went straight to the Devildom, they knew, if her daughter was missing she was in hell, and yes, there she was half naked, from the waist up, her tattoo artist way to afraid of saying something, her mama was about to murder Diavolo (He loved it because he already knew Yukari´s mother) cousins and her older brother protected her with an encantation that she broke when things became espesas. And she used the pact with Beel to show everyone how she was gonna be fine. After that she bought lunch for Beel and her family started to shout at her. “Pendeja, los demonios no son juguetes.” “DEJA EN PAZ A ESE DEMONIO YUKARI VERÓNICA PEREZ AGUILAR O YO TE PUTEO AQUÍ Y AHORA”
Yukari: AMAAA DEJA LA CHANCLA NO, NOOOOOOOO EN LA ESPALDA NOOOOOOOOOOOOO AMAAAA MIS TATUAJESSS.
Yukari´s mom: ¿¿Quien te manda pendeja??
After the putazos. The demons understood, they better don´t mess up with her family.
Her relationship with the brothers.
Lucifer.
He was surprised that Beel didn´t told him about his pact with a human, and he knew everything. After the show that Yukari put through, he decided that Mammon needed to stick around with her.
He even went to her house for photos, books and action figures for her room. After that he saw Yukari in the big garden, planting cempasúchil, she even put in her door Papel picado she made an encantation with them so nobody could cross her door. He tried once when she wasn´t answering her D.D.D, he couldn´t.   He was amazed about her magic and power to talk, also she eats a lot for her small being, he has a Beel 2.0 but smaller.
Mammon.
He tried to sell the flowers in the garden, but Yukari nearly kill him, not on pourpose though, she put a protection for her flowers, and he crossed the protection, tha result was burns level two, that she cured.
He is the only demon that like the saying says. “Entra como perro por su casa” it seems that after he burned up her encantations didn´t worked on him, so she needed to make better encantations and even protect her books. Once in a while she likes to cast a spell of truth in him so she can analyse his ways. The first time she spoke Spanish he knew he needed to create a bussiness with her. And her tattos are sick, he takes photos for her, he´s so in love with the art in her back.
Levi.
LOOOOOOOL She´s like that character from that anime, plus her hair is sick. He got another otaku by his side, for Yukari it was easy to make a pact with Levi, they became friends in a anime group so they kinda knew each other.
When Levi saw her magic he started to tell her how amazing she was, and how he can summon Lotan, and they totaly need to make a pact, she´s Henry, like in real live. For first time in his life he feels better with himself.
He actually has a secret pasword with her door, so he can enter whenever he wants too, and laughs when his other brothers can´t even open the door.
Satan.
He was the opposite of his three older brothers, he needed to draw a line between that woman and himself, but when he saw how she could read difficult books and even summon other demons and even angels.
Yukari: Ay Güerito I´m creating this potion so Asmo can´t flirt with me, I just want to see his face.
She was evil, and he loved it, once he understood that she wasn´t a threat they became quite close. The cherry that was on top of the whole cake, was, Yukari was studying literature back in the human Realm, so yes, Satan made a pact with her, not as fast as Mammon or Levi, but if he was going to have a master, it needed to be her.
Asmo.
For him, Yukari was cute, and the first impression was way to good for him. If anyone dares to see her body and thinks that she is not sensual, they are wrong, she just doesn´t like to show her atributtes, but damn, those Latin Americans were pure sensuality.  Omg, that type of clothes does match with her personality, she was evil and he loved it, needed more that a look.
Bloking your door my dear? No problem I always have the key. (He doesn´t have it though)  His human is the best of all, even Solom can cry before her and she wouldn´t mind, his humans are great.
Beel.
Most protect my master, Beelzebub actually know her really good, he stayed in her life since she was 10 years old and they agree to make a pact. That means every familiar dinner he went, every birthday there he was, and after a break of each other, when he saw Yukari again he needed to hug and kiss her, she became a proper lady no longer a small child that summon him for cookies or for bullies.
He got a crush in the 18 years old woman, and even if she doesn´t like him or she see him like a really old uncle that was okey for him. He knows that the flowers and potions that she makes can´t be eaten, so he always waits for her to give him a bite of her lunch or snacks.
Beelphegor.
When he tried to kill her in the other line of timpe she threw a flip flop in his head, and actually used her pacts, so Yukari 2.0 could have enough time to cast a spell, she summon an Archangel. It was impressive and the brothers were terrified, one human could summon anything was a danger.
When she returned to her line she hugged Belphie and told him; If you try to kill me here, I will take your teared your head off, with one spell. After that they became such good friends, and she kept her secrete for eternity.
With the undateables
Luke.
Try to bully him and she will bite. She´s small so she hates with all her heart when the brothers are mean to him. Luke loves her, she´s like a big sister, and finally someone can face those devils. She even knows Michael, and when he speaks with him, Michael always tell him how impressed he was. Luke stook with Yukari every time he can, they also make sleepovers, and the curse in her door always give him a candy. He is the happiest Angel alive.
Solomon.
Worried, her magic is way to powerfull, he knows her type of magic, but, he can´t make it, that magic is from way far away in the humanity time line, and if she could summon one of the seven brothers when she was young, he didn´t knew how powerfull she was know. Ancient magic might stayed as a secret. He faced Yukari when she was angry, and damn, not even his magic helped him when he recived a Chanclazo.
Simeon.
He liked her, her apperiance was angelical, and her height was the cutest of them all, but he knew that even the Archangels had respect for that human, he saw her once in the  Realm, and he was shocked, she was nearly 14 years old, and was talking with Uriel like nothing.
Diavolo.
As powerful as a human might be, they have a time limit, he´s not that affraid of Yukari, he knows that she can handdle herself, and won´t start a rebelion Right? Even if she does that, he can always marry her and that would be all.
Barbatos.
He got atonished when she returned from the temporal line time, that wasn´t part of his plan, and she managed to break it. They became close, not only to know Yukari better but he needed to keep an eye on her, she wasn´t normal, she was playing with fire, but she didn´t get any burn of it.
LET´S LEARN SPANISH!
Chanclazo.  When a flip flop hit you
Güerito, This one is how should I say it? Kinda racist, means when a person has a white skin color and when he or she has a lighter hair. BUT in Mexico in the market, all people are güeritos, so dont worry.
“Entra como perro por su casa”  He enters like a dog in his house
cempasúchil  A flower that means 1000 petals. And we use them for day of the deaths.
Tumblr media
Papel picado Type of paper, that is use for our day of the deaths, in the ofrendas
Tumblr media
“Pendeja, los demonios no son juguetes.” “DEJA EN PAZ A ESE DEMONIO YUKARI VERÓNICA PEREZ AGUILAR O YO TE PUTEO AQUÍ Y AHORA”: IDIOT, THE DEMONS AREN´T TOYS. LEAVE ALONE THAT DEMON YUKARI VERÓNICA PEREZ AGUILAR, OR I WILL KICK YOU HERE AND NOW.
It´s very common that Latins owns 2 names and put the two last names of the two families, the whole name from a mother, means danger.
AMAAA DEJA LA CHANCLA NO, NOOOOOOOO EN LA ESPALDA NOOOOOOOOOOOOO AMAAAA MIS TATUAJESSS.
MOOOOOM LEAVE THE FLIP FLOP NO, NOOOOOOO, NO IN THE BACK, NOOOOOOOOOO MOOOOMMM MY TATOOS.
¿¿Quien te manda pendeja??
Who leads you asshole?
horchata
Type of drink, without alcohol. It is usually made of rice, and it´s sweet.
espesas : Thick.

“I’ll never leave you” [Persona 3]
Tumblr media
[Dead! Minato Arisato x Gender Neutral! Reader]
Note: Um... I saw a post about Minato and got inspired by it. I enjoyed writing this :) Hope ya’ll enjoy this!
Word Count: 1538
Warning: Angst.. and spoilers for the ending-
Tumblr media
[Y/N] quietly weeps to themselves in the dark empty room that once belonged to their boyfriend, who was long gone. They stuffed their face in the pillow that was once smelled like his shampoo, but over the time, it lost its scent. The music ringing through the room only fell on deaf ears as the person continued to cry. The loneliness in their heart grew at the fact that Minato isn’t coming back. The longing for him only grew inside them which made their heart tighten itself.
It’s been 5 years since Minato passed away, but even after all these years, the hole that he left in [Y/N]’s heart never fade away. In fact, it only grew larger and larger. 5 years passed yet [Y/N] continued to hope for him to return to the land of the living. The SEES have already gone their separate ways, carrying their leader’s death in their hearts. But unlike the [H/C]-headed person, they continued to live.
The SEES already have tried to help [Y/N], but the said-person kept pushing them away. The others gave up but Mitsuru continued to help the poor (girl/boy) out, not wanting them to be left alone with those depressing thoughts. [Y/N] sniffed as they hug the pillow even tighter. “I... miss you so much, Minato.. come back please.” The person pleaded helplessly as they hiccup. They were having a hard time to breathe now, having to cry for so long.
“I miss you too, [Y/N].” [Y/N]’s eyes snapped open instantly at the familiarity of the voice. They felt the bed dip at the weight of the person. They could feel their heart beating loudly at their ears. Could it be..?
“Minato..?” They felt someone’s hand running their fingers through their hair, before settling at the back of their head. “Hm? Yes?” [Y/N] slowly turned their head to meet a familiar ghostly face with a small smile present on his face. They gasp at the sight as Minato chuckled and simultaneously moving his hand to their cheek. It was faint but the warmth [Y/N] knew and love was still there. “Surprised to see me?”
[Y/N] meekly nodded their head, their mind still in a hazy state. Minato sighed as he brings the frozen person into a hug. [Y/N] remained frozen but their hands slowly rose to hug their (dead) boyfriend back. “I-I don’t understand.. isn’t your soul in--?” “The seal? Yes, and still is. I’m what you call a figment of your imagination.” Minato explains while hugging [Y/N]. [Y/N]’s eyes widened but immediately went back to normal. So this is their imagination?
“Doesn’t that make me crazy though?” Minato laughs at [Y/N] question which made the latter pout. Minato pulls away from the hug, still laughing. [Y/N] took the time to analyze him, it was like he never aged. He still look like that 17-year old guy 5 years ago. “You haven’t aged, huh?” [Y/N] absentmindedly noted as Minato stopped laughing. He gives her a small smile on return as his eyes travel around her face. “And you have aged, my dear. Though you look more (beautiful/handsome) than ever.”
[Y/N] blushed at what he said before pouting. “And you still know your way around words.” Minato lets out a laugh at their statement. “Blame Junpei for that.” [Y/N] chuckles at what he said before returning to their depressed-self. Minato notices this as he sighs. “You know we can’t turn the clock of time back, right?” [Y/N] remained silent. Minato leans back and made himself comfortable in his previously-owned bed, looking at the dirty-white ceiling.
“Death is a natural cause for everyone. Even if we want for them to return, they don’t. So we can only learn how to move on. They aren’t afterall truly gone.. they remain in our hearts.” Minato went into one of his speeches. His eyes trailed to his partner to see them still being silent and depressed. Minato lets out a sigh once again. I guess it isn’t easy as I thought..
“You know that I’ll never leave your side right?” Minato sat back up and stare at [Y/N]’s [E/C] eyes that is filled with sadness. They slowly nodded their head, Minato lets out a smile. “That’s right. I’ll never leave you all by yourself. You’re stuck with me whether you like it or not.” Minato pulls them into a hug, cherishing how they fit in their embrace. Also being concerned about your health when he noticed how light-weighted you are.
[Y/N] lets out a small smile as a tear roll down their cheek and onto Minato’s shoulder. “I know that, Minato. Afterall, that’s already in the contract when I became your partner.” Minato brightened as he chuckles at their partner lighting up the room. He could feel [Y/N] opening their heart and slowly accepting his death. And he can also feel himself fading away.
After all these years, Minato can finally let [Y/N] go. The real reason why he stayed is because he saw how affected [Y/N] was from his death, worried about his partner’s health, he stayed by their side. Now, he has nothing to worry about. Minato knew that [Y/N] can manage on their own now, even if they can’t, the SEES will be there for them.
[Y/N] could also feel Minato fading away, giving him one last squeeze, they let him go. Both of them have a small smile present on their faces, as they lean forward and press their foreheads together. [Y/N] closing their eyes while Minato looking at them. “Move on and fill that hole inside you with love once again.” “I will.” Minato’s smile widened as he closes his eyes. “I’ll see you at the top then. We’ll be waiting.”
And with that Minato faded away. [Y/N]’s eyes remained closed as they chock in their sob. They took a deep breathe, calming themself down. Before opening their eyes, the once lost and broken eyes now brimming with determination and hope for the future. [Y/N] stood up with a smile present on their face.
“One more time..”
——
It’s been 10 years now since Minato’s death, 10 years since Shinjiro’s death, 10 years since they’ve defeated Tartarus. Now, in the car going to somewhere, the person smiled as they noticed sakura leaves falling from sakura trees. Spring has come once more to greet them. “Another spring without you, huh?” The [H/C]-haired person laughed, almost bitterly. They felt tears prickle in their eyes as they quickly wipe it away. “Don’t cry. You’ll be crying buckets later.” They mumbled to themself.
Once arrived at the destination, [Y/N] payed the driver and watch as the car drove away. [Y/N] slowly turned around to see a familiar-looking school that they once attended, Gekkoukan High School. Back where it all started..
The wind came blowing at them as they removed their hair from their face. “Hey! It’s [Y/N]-(chan/kun)!” [Y/N] heard a familiar-sounding voice. They smiled brightly as they noticed a group of people already inside the gates of Gekkoukan.
Mitsuru’s hair was already short, her lips in a smile. Akihiko was wearing a business suit and was wearing glasses. Yukari was in a comfortable clothing that is filled with pink. Junpei was the same as ever but with the cap long gone. Fuuka’s hair grows out as she waves at [Y/N]. Aigis wasn’t present, since she was still asleep. But now, they were gonna wake up Aigis after all these years passed.
“Hurry up! We still need to wake up Aigis!” Yukari cried while both her hands cupping her mouth. “Yeah! C’mon! Aigis might get grumpy if we wait too long!” Junpei agreed. “Its nice to see that everyone hasn’t change after all these years.” Mitsuru sighed while placing her hand on her head. Akihiko laughed. “It’s a reunion afterall! It’s all about letting loose!” Mitsuru shakes her head before letting out a smile-smirk. “I suppose so.” “B-Be careful, [Y/N]-(chan/kun)!” Fuuka cried.
[Y/N] nodded their head. “Yeah yeah! I’m coming!” [Y/N] started to run towards them, but they saw something in the corner of their eyes. They immediately stopped as they look at her left, looking at the sakura tree on the sideline. “[Y/N]!! HURRY UP!!” “Sorry!” [Y/N] cried, shaking their head and started to run towards the group once more. Shrugging it off as her imagination.
Minato, Ryoji and Shinjiro watch as [Y/N] tackle Yukari and Junpei in a hug, the latter shrieking in surprise while Junpei laughing. Minato smiles at [Y/N]’s smiles, glad that they weren’t anymore frowning. “Looks like you got worried for nothin’.” Shinjiro commented while crossing his hands in front of his chest. Ryoji laughs. “Well it’s nice to see them laughing again!” Minato nodded at Ryoji before returning his gaze to the group, who were now walking towards the dorm after waiting for the [E/C]-person. “I’m glad..”

Day 5-Stilts
Characters: Napoleon, Jean, Isaac, and Yukari (MC)
Pairings    : Jean x Napoleon, Isaac x MC
Ao3 Link  : Here
Tumblr media
All was quiet, save for the soft pitter-patter of rain on the attic window. If it wasn't for his superior hearing, Jean might've missed the heavy sigh that escaped his companion's lips.
Napoleon was leaning on the sill with his cheek propped by the back of his hand. He looked neither sleepy nor deep in thought, gazing absent-mindedly towards the city down below.
They had been sitting this way for half an hour. Jean recalled how the emperor gently took his hand and urged him to come with him after sparring.
"I haven't spent enough time with you," Napoleon spoke sternly. "Can I borrow you for today?"
Jean was correct to let Napoleon lead him up the stairs, thinking that it was loneliness he saw in his eyes. This strange relationship between them, toeing the lines between amour and camaraderie, allowed Jean to see Napoleon's colors which he seldom revealed to anyone.
That 'anyone' apparently included Isaac, the subject of today's woes.
Jean was by no means unobservant. His newfound courage to come downstairs more often in daylight (which Sebastian applauded) meant he could observe the other mansions' residents more closely. Though he still had to dodge the troublemakers Arthur and Dazai whenever possible.
But that also meant he was able to discover new facts about his fellow residents, both directly or from other sources, namely Sebastian. Sometimes, when he entered the kitchen to ask for Rouge (at Napoleon's urging), he'd get roped into the butler's early morning gossip with the mysterious young woman whom he'd learned came from the future through that despicable count's door.
The girl, Yukari, was Isaac's paramour.
Jean supposed her arrival was instrumental in making Napoleon seek his company. What little time Isaac had when not teaching the children, he'd spend more of it with his lover, and less with Napoleon.
It must be boring being a reincarnated emperor, seeing as Napoleon latched onto Jean and his weapons shop. He even made Jean a new tutor in his makeshift school where he, Isaac, and Yukari, taught.
(Jean himself thought it was sweet seeing Napoleon interact with children).
Recently, he'd been sensing something amiss between the two original teachers. Isaac was more awkward with him than usual (and that was saying something), while Yukari's expression changed to a troubled one at any mention of Napoleon. But the woman always skilfully dodged Jean's questions when he asked if his partner had done something towards her.
( Not a very good liar, Jean concluded.)
Everything fell in place when one of the younger children casually asked if "Napoleone" was fighting with Isaac since they were now rarely seen together. " I don't know about that" was his answer, the same one he used when Sebastian suddenly spilled all his speculations on the physicist and former emperor's state of affairs and egged Jean for details.
"They're almost brothers, the two of them." Sebastian sighed. "To think they'd drift apart like this was unthinkable."
It's because of the girl Jean was tempted to say. But he decided to keep his peace instead. Napoleon would come to him in due time. That led Jean to where he was now, spending the gloomy rainy afternoon with a similarly gloomy man.
The taciturn soldier came to attention when the man before him sucked in a deep breath.
"Relax, Jean. I wasn't going to whip you." Napoleon snickered. It sounded hollow.
"Forgive me," Jean apologized for nothing in particular. Time seemed to halt at that very moment, emerald eyes locking with his.
"Isaac is afraid of getting hurt," Napoleon began. "So much so that Yukari even refrains from being frank with him, even when she needs to be. When they need to be with one another."
The eyepatched soldier gazed at him intently, waiting for him to finish.
"Handling people like Isaac, well, it requires you to be cautious both ways," He combed his bangs back with his hand. "If he wants to be comfortable with you, you will have to assure him that you don't feel burdened with his presence, that having him come to you is gratifying enough."
Napoleon paused, seemingly in conflict over what he was about to deliver next.
"In hindsight, maybe this was an error on my part." he sighed, for what was the umpteenth time this afternoon. "I told him, once..."
Jean closed his eye and nodded.
"'At this point, there is nothing that you can say or do to hurt me'" Napoleon repeated his promise he gave Isaac long ago." And trust me that no circumstance will ever cause us to part."
Jean's eye flew open. Yet he remained silent. His eyed one of Napoleon's hands, clenching and unclenching the fabric of his cape. Then, with the same trembling hand, the emperor reached out to graze his cheek. He leaned into the touch, thinking that it might offer Napoleon some respite.
It was true. The softness of Jean's skin was soothing. Warm despite the frigid air outside.
After some time, Napoleon withdrew and looked at Jean expectantly, allowing him to speak.
"But you hurt him instead," Jean stated, matter-of-factly. "And he is now avoiding you."
"Sure did," Napoleon mumbled, gazing out into the drenched city below. "Too many times over the course of their relationship, of course."
"You're worried."
"Well, why shouldn't I?" he barked. "I can't say this out loud. Won't say this out loud. Not even to my real brothers. I dote on him the same way I did them. I was stern, which I'm not with Isaac. I took responsibility for them as their guardian. Still, I need to respect my distance and believe that they'll make the best decisions for themselves even without my input."
"I've heard of historians and even courtiers of my time accusing me of steering my family to further my goals. Well," Napoleon paused to catch his breath. "They can say whatever they wish to say, but bold of them to assume that I waste my nights thinking about what my brothers do or don't do to keep their marriage afloat."
Jean took Napoleon's tirade in a sedated manner, mollifying the emperor's burst of anger to some extent.
Shame soon took over Napoleon's conscience as the lone dark eye regarded him calmly.
"In the end, I have to admit," Napoleon exhaled. "I do care too much about him. And Yukari too."
"I noticed little things that didn't sit well with me about their relationship. In good faith, I tried relaying my thoughts to Isaac, but he didn't take it well." He admitted. "I was a fool. It was a matter of Isaac's pride as a man. Who wouldn't feel wounded if an outsider came up to him and pointed out the faults in his intimate relationship with a woman?"
"I failed to think of him as a man," his lament continued. "I saw him as a brother and failed to acknowledge his worth as his own, mature man with responsibilities." Napoleon finished, burying his face into the crook of his arm.
Outside, the rain was ceasing. Jean could discern the arc of a rainbow in the far-off distance.
Gingerly, he covered Napoleon's hand with his own. He has long removed his gloves, eliminating the barrier between flesh.
"That wasn't a brother you were describing," Jean whispered. "You spoke of him as a son."
Once, they too had walked on eggshells with this particular subject.
Sebastian spoke to Jean once —in meticulous detail —about the King of Rome and Napoleon's distraught at being torn apart from his son. Jean pretended not to know about it afterward, only for Napoleon to bring up the topic himself one day when they were out in the fields letting their horses graze.
He allowed —nay, invited Jean to indulge in his nostalgia of lost family and friends, even his previous loves.
(Jean felt a tinge of irritation whenever Napoleon mentioned Josephine, though he supposed there was no point envying a woman long dead and buried.)
Jean understood Isaac by a fraction. The man saw relationships as walking on stilts, carefully balancing yourself lest you tip and crash.
And bring the other person down with you.
Jean had numerous other parables to illustrate his connections, but he'd rather not dwell upon them now. Not when the man who helped complicated them were here to seek comfort
(In him).
Napoleon's snicker brought Jean out of his reverie.
"I suppose I do play the role sometimes," he contemplated Jean bemusedly. "That would make you his mother, then."
"But I'm not —" Jean flushed upon realizing what he meant. " Napoleon Bonaparte. " He mock-threatened.
Napoleon laughed, a sound Jean had been yearning to hear.
"But I do like to picture us with children," Napoleon leaned back. "I bet they'd be just as beautiful as you."
Jean's blush grew redder at the moment, provoking the other man to tease him further.
"Knowing you, I hope you don't scare them too much," Napoleon cooed. "You frown too much. It breaks my heart to see that delicate face contort into a scowl."
"Stop it already," Jean was burning scarlet right up to his ears. "You're embarrassing me."
"But I know you'd spoil those tykes to no end," the Nightmare of Europe continued. "I wonder what they'd grow up to be, under our nurture."
Jean furiously wiped his face. "That's impossible. You know that."
"True," Napoleon smiled wistfully. "But what an entertaining thought."
The exquisite soldier peeked warily at Napoleon behind his sleeve.
"What?" the smirking man chuckled. "Was that a bit too sappy?"
Jean pouted at him impishly. "For an allegedly terrifying conqueror such as you? Definitely."
"But now that I've known you, nothing about you is ever surprising anymore, Napoleon." Jean lied. He knew there were still many layers of Napoleon that he had yet to uncover.
In that familiar attic, the two men beamed at each other in comfortable stillness, the problem of Isaac and Yukari temporarily forgotten.
They could hear Jupiter's cry in the open, a sure sign that the rain had ended.

Star Twinkle Precure: Final Thoughts
Tumblr media
Just some quick final thoughts of what I thought was a fairly decent series.
First, I apologize for not doing Precuruary this year and other years I’ve skipped it. It seems like whenever February comes, I’m just either not in the mood to do full reviews of Precure stuff or I have been busy with other things or even both and this year was definitely on the both side, but more so on the busy side. I just moved to my new place and it has been one of the hardest moves we’ve ever endured. Just now did we get all of our stuff and we moved in here weeks ago, back in late January. So, I apologize greatly for not being as active in Precure. I do love Precure and I do want to keep up with Precuruary because this is the one subject besides Hazbin Hotel and Winx Club, that I have a lot of passionate theories and thoughts on. Until my passion comes in Febuary, Precuruary is gonna be a little bit late and inconsistent in the dates.
With that being said, I’m gonna be quick or try to be quick about my overall thoughts of Star Twinkle Precure. Overall, I think I enjoyed Star Twinkle more than Hugtto, even though, I do think Hugtto did a better job at morals and story, Star Twinkle has been more of an enjoyment to watch. Perhaps is because the characters are just more likable, not that Hugtto’s wasn’t, but I got more into the side characters than the main characters in Hugtto. The only Cure I really cared about in Hugtto was Cure Etoile, but the other cures did seem more of stereotypes or caricatures we’ve seen a million times. The side characters were also just more interesting than the main characters.
Star Twinkle, we do get more of variety, though I do agree that Madoka doesn’t seem any different from the soft, but firm feminine anime type. What I mean is Madoka reminds me too much of characters like Hime, Karen, (Aikatsu Stars and Aikatsu Friends) and pass cures like Cure Beauty and Cure Rhythm. She’s an elegant lady who works hard, is rich,is from a strict noble family and her out bringing changes with the help of her friends. I do rant on about using archetypes we’ve seen a million times. Like it is hard to be 100% original, but it doesn’t change the fact that there are a lot of these types and unless they do something new with it, it’s really hard for me to care about said character.
Tumblr media
(I do ADORE her design though.)
We also have another happy go lucky lead and yes, ultimately everyone grows with her, I think it would have just been nice if she was more of a nerdy shy type, with a strong passion to help and still have a great imagination. I mean, you can be helpful and be full of imagination without being the clumsy, hyper stereotype that is Hikaru. It would have actually made more sense if we had gotten a nerdy girl over Hikaru.
Hikaru developed I think the least of the cures. She didn’t go through anything that life changing and her back story, as someone from Angryanime wrote, wasn’t that realistic or relateable. If I had a dad that went around looking supernatural creatures, instead of taking care of the family, there would definitely more family strain than just the grandfather hating him.
Hikaru is not a bad character and she does go through some bullying, but so did many characters in the passed, including Haruka/Cure Flora. A bullied character can be fine, but they need to be interesting too and she’s just another happy go lucky character. She doesn’t necessarily have the charm as Hikaru nor the realistic, understandable back story that Nodoka/Cure Grace has. She’s just another Hana and Ichika.
The Princesses were also disappointingly dull in personality. There’s actually no excuse on it either. They could have easily based the personality of the princesses on their respective Zodiac. Like have Scorpio be moody or stern but emotional inside. Have Aries be easily angered and want things done her way. Leo a hot shot like Cure Gelato that she was obviously inspired from. Taurus like gardening and be the gentle one. That was another reason why the Zodiac was made. To understand people’s behavior and how to deal with someone that you may clash with or are more compatible with. I guess because the Cures don’t spend enough time with them, they just made them with a dull personality, but they could have. Like the Zodiac is basically not only a way to tell your fortune, but to learn from in terms of learning about yourself and others.
However, we do get characters like Lala/Cure Milky and Elena/Cure Soleil. I know people kept saying Elena was under developed and her development came way too soon. For me, personally as someone who has Autism that caused my growth to be slow. Like mentally, I’m younger than my physical age, I felt Elena’s development to be fine. Not perfect, but not everyone grows the same way, the same speed and like I said, for a while, I didn’t know what she could possibly learn being she is the most mature and responsible already.
Compared to the development of other characters in the passed (Mirai/Cure Miracle, whom, while I relate to somewhat in that child likeness of hers, I agree I don’t think she developed as much as leaders in the passed did and most of the characters in KiraKira Precure, especially Akira and Yukari!), Elena at least developed and was the most realistic of the cures. I relate to her wanting keep others happy but hiding your own feelings and pain in doing so. I do that even now, though I do try to be more open when something is really bothering me.
Lala, by far definitely grew a lot and is my second favorite of the Star Twinkle Team. Though, I dunno, both Elena and Lala I like pretty equally. I guess I do relate to Elena just a bit more though.. I think in truth, Lala was more of the main character than Hikaru because it seemed like the creators really liked her the most. There was a lot of focus on her and she seemed to develop the most than the other girls .I guess that does give a bit of a negative feel towards her for some people, which I can see, but Lala is pretty likable enough, that I kinda let it slip like most people seem to. She’s just a real nice, likable character!
As for Cure Cosmos, I honestly don’t know how to feel about her. I like her design and character, but I can’t say I like or dislike her. Pretty much on middle ground when it comes to her. She didn’t really leave a huge impact on me, negative or positive. I love the police puppy girl, Mary Anne, that was following her and I love their overall chemistry together! XD
Tumblr media
The story did get a bit clunky towards the end and I would even argue a bit confusing. Like, okay, these princesses gave all their power to the pens, the cures, Fuwa and the rest of the world, it kinda made it seem pointless in reviving them anyway. The Notraiders and their story was touching and I like how they did touch upon issues like racism with Kappard and his people and an example of someone being born different from others like Tenjo and her people.
I will agree though, Eyewarn was the most annoying and hard to deal with. Her voice even got on my nerves! I didn’t care if they redeemed her. Her sudden change in attitude didn’t make sense and I think they would have done us all a favor and offed her somehow. I mean shoot, they weren’t afraid to full on kill the fairy mascot, they could have done so with Eyewarn easily. Who actually cared about the cyclops Trollz reject? I sure didn’t and I know a lot of people didn’t either!
Overall, I know this is review is all over the place, but I’ll do more of proper review later but I will rate Star Twinkle 7 1/2 stars out of 10. It’s not perfect but it’s been an enjoyable ride in the spaceship. Now we’re headed back down to earth and our usual stick with Healin Good Precure!

Character Analysis: Mitsuhide
Warning: Spoilers ahead.
It’s pretty long so I threw this whole post under a cut. This is my personal views on Mitsuhide. You are free to disagree with me. I’m still getting to know him and how he really is. I thought I’d share my thoughts on Mitsuhide since his route is coming out soon.
I was rereading an old post in regards to Mitsuhide's personality. Admin Yukari always tells me that she can't stan Mitsuhide because she dislikes his teasing whereas I have already grown used to it. It honestly does not bother me anymore. One thing to keep in mind is that Mitsuhide teases as a form of affection, and in regards to MC, it's how he shows his love for her. He likes her open and honest expressions. If MC stopped reciprocating his teasing, I think Mitsuhide would legitimately begin to worry. Spoiler for his upcoming birthday story, but at this point, MC does not mind his teasing anymore. On the contrary, she looks forward to it. And as Mitsuhide explained to Princess Tsubaki in the latest event, it's normal for him and MC to constantly "bicker" with one another. When MC thinks it's "impossible" to be with Mitsuhide, he always responds with "If you say it's impossible, doesn't it make you want to be more mean?" To put it simply, he wants to tease her some more.
Of course, teasing isn't the only facet to Mitsuhide's character. As he has stated before, he is constantly working in the background. He seems to have his own agenda while serving Nobunaga. Rest assured, it's always to his lord's benefit. What Mitsuhide's goals/ambitions are have yet to be explained, however. From the small glimpses we've had, he views himself as nothing more than a tool of war. He carries out his work efficiently while remaining aware that he can die at any given time. I like to think Mitsuhide embraces death in his own way, but almost like an afterthought. If it happens, it happens. There's no fear or regret. However, MC perceives a sadness in him that she can't quite figure out just yet. Unlike Kenshin, Mitsuhide does not invoke angst but rather a deep, undescribable sadness. I feel like a lot of it has to do with his distancing with those he feels close to.
We've seen it before. Mitsuhide has no qualms in tarnishing his reputation with the general public if it means protecting those he cares about. And the last thing he wants to do is hurt MC in any shape or form. While he lives to tease her, he still is careful not to project his emotions around her getting defensive when MC begings to pry a little too much for his liking. He doesn't like being the center of attention, and would much rather be away from the spotlight prefering to stand in the shadows instead.
Mitsuhide is not just considerate of MC, but of his allies. We've seen him helping from the sidelines more than once. He, too, can get jealous, though. During the Christmas event last year, he wouldn't stop commenting about MC wearing Hideyoshi's haori even when she explained about forgetting her own coat at the castle. Instead, Mitsuhide takes MC to a kimono shop and buys her a beautiful scarf to keep her warm. We see him lamenting the fact that he can't be with her in Hideyoshi's route, but is still happy for the two and wishes them well in their life together.
In Sasuke's route, I was introduced to a new side of Mitsuhide. He's raised suspicion and unease in me in previous routes. Mitsuhide made me feel fear in Sasuke's route. He flung a blade into the ceiling narrowly missing Sasuke who was hiding above, and dragged MC by her arm out of the audience hall threatening to harm her if Sasuke did not appear. He chases Sasuke and MC all over Azuchi without relent dead set in shooting them down. He almost succeded had Sasuke not fooled Mitsuhide with a dummy. Even Mitsuhide laughed at the fact which made him seem all the more chilling to me. However, he won my admiration later in the story when he teamed up with Hideyoshi as they faced off a group of Kennyo's men.
After Mitsunari's route and working my way through Sasuke's route, I began to focus more on Mitsuhide because I desired to get to know him better. To be honest, I am dying to play his route. I try my luck in every event he is in hoping to gleam more of Mitsuhide's personality. That sadness that MC sees in him has me at the edge of my seat wondering what it could all be about. The small snippets we've gotten from his route has me so pumped up ready to delve into his story.
I've been told my portrayal of Mitsuhide is so good, and while it brings me relief, I can't help but think that I can do better. Still, in fanfiction, you're free to do as you want. Want a soft Mitsuhide? Write it. Want a horny Mitsuhide? Write it. Want angsty Mitsuhide? Write it. How we choose to portray Mitsuhide in fanfiction is up to us. And the same goes for the rest of the warlords.
I write Mitsuhide from what has been shown to me in the handful of event stories and routes I had the luck of reading. I may be forgetting some things, but this is just about all I have learned in regards to Mitsuhide so far. We're all entitled to our likes and dislikes, and this is not a plight to get Mitsuhide more fans. Honestly, I don't even know why I started going after Mitsuhide when Nobunaga is supposedly my #1 favorite. Anyways, how you choose to view Mitsuhide is up to you. Whether you like him or not, stan him or don't stan him, love him or hate him, we are all right. Like, I'm still struggling with Kennyo, and he's the last warlord on the list. I don't like Motonari, but I'm still going to embrace him. So, you know, to each their own.

this is a post with (excited) personal thoughts over akihiko’s p3d characterization. mass spoilers ahoy
a week ago i wrote a super short post of my impression of akihiko in p3d. essentially: do you ever feel validated having your favorite actually written well for once? that AND he’s pretty similar to how you roleplay him to boot? considering how physically shitty i’ve felt, p3d made the time i spent playing SUCH a good one!!! i’m so thankful
expect an explanation on these points and on my own interpretation x) i will do my best not to talk about every little thing (and fail)… some things are better off secret, anyway. let us begin!!!!
admittedly, a lot of topics brought up in akihiko’s social i’ve thought about (some almost embarrassingly so that i won’t mention them) or reminded me of stuff i wrote myself or in threads. obviously not to a T, but the ideas are similar in nature. like, i got reminded of my threads with loversquiver (excuse me? mystic red?) when akihiko and yukari interacted. how she’d be curious about him and they get to know one another, but their convos quickly become awkward asdhsdfh
or when junpei and akihiko interacted… honestly, it reminded me of how i’ve desired a sexuality thread (i’ve tried starting at least one in the past, even bringing up junpei for comparison)… when junpei asked minato why akihiko can’t get a girl, my headcanon blared: ‘he’s aroace duh!!!’
—but also… i felt called out when junpei said akihiko could ‘win a girl over’ if there was something about him like a flaw that’d surprise them since FFFFFFFF yeah that was what won me over when i played P3P for the first time. you got me
that aside, as a roleplayer i have touched on akihiko maintaining his image and attempts to keep weaknesses a secret, so it’s yoooooo that the game focused on his perfection, yet akihiko (secretly his own worst enemy if his P3P social link has anything to say about that) knows nobody is perfect.
not only that but also p3d takes it further with akihiko saying that’s what makes people interesting, as well as tying that into his self-improvement motif. i’m love
(lol akihiko being the shit-talking type. that was great)
moving on. so… the convo with fuuka… ooh baby.
i’ve a headcanon (inspired by P3P) that akihiko doesn’t understand reasonable portions, and this essentially shone through their conversation dhgdhfjgdj— but, also, p3d made akihiko knowledgable in addition, bringing up the amount of calories foods have and converting them to how much to work off. impressive!!
not only that, the game hit two? three? birds with one stone in my eyes: bringing up cooking. he doesn’t have the skills. he wouldn’t make a girl do it for him, and that he’d like to learn. THIS IS MY SHIT. i’ve wanted this!!!!!!
i never roleplayed with a fuuka, but a few months ago i wrote a drabble about him and fuuka trying to learn (and another drabble with him telling hamuko he’d want to learn), so i hHHHGGHN. p3d took this up a notch tho by making akihiko weird, which i have no qualms with because he is, just not solely via XD protein.
learning akihiko’s thoughts and how he treats his trophies were soo nice… like i love how thoughtful and respectful this made akihiko out to be. it makes me want to look up to him even more, you know? he is peculiarly a sentimental guy (as also shown by his red convo with yukari) even through rationalism, so this addition? *chef’s kiss*
and akihiko’s relationship with mitsuru shown in the social for both theirs reminded me soo much of older sister/younger brother siblings. like how i imagined it? because, aside from knowing each other for years, you can tell they cared for each other but also annoyed one other (and familiarly so, you know what i mean?) and bickered, plus how mitsuru lectured him and said something along the lines of ‘i have no objections at the moment’ in regards to his plans, like? why are you sounding so authoritative asfsdgh
not to mention how akihiko booted himself out of his own room to flee after going too far ashgsdfs
also, i’ve realized before how you never really know akihiko’s thoughts on mitsuru, so him being blunt and even straight up calling minato stupid at the notion of them dating, in front of mitsuru was HGFDJHGFJH. but equating mitsuru and minato as ‘comrades’ was the best answer because.. well, otherwise they did behave as coworkers/teammates, even rivals. you saw that in their dancing. that was how i usually saw them as, besides metaphorical siblings and the like.
extra: i thought it was funny how akihiko also retaliated by mentioning mitsuru’s dorm room full of furniture because that was something i’ve joked over before, considering how her bed is right next to them. and also: akihiko’s plans in regards to going to college? p4a sure fucked that one up ASDFSG
so tl;dr… he’s a good sport. akihiko is so knowledgeable but also considerate towards others that he mostly does dial it back when necessary, when he notices. he’s strangely sentimental yet respectful, not like… a sore winner or what have you, and he has a pretty open mind. he’s very into self-improvement, and getting to interact with everyone and dancing makes him appreciative of the event, that it broadens his horizons. i was always fond of the theme of akihiko broadening horizons in order to grow. good shit.
and as a roleplayer? i’m happy that i could, at the very least, pull off a similar aura with characterization. i don’t want to sound conceited, but if i had to be honest, you know… nonetheless, it’s nice, and unexpected, to feel good about how i write through playing p3d sgfdhfds i worked so hard for years, and then to have atlus finally deliver the goods…
on top of that, it reminded me so much of my fellow partners at times. all the good times. you guys know who you are x)
otherwise, i’m happy we get to see akihiko interact with his kouhai, with aigis. how the game utilizes ken to having akihiko bring up his own childhood (brilliant). and seeing his relationship with mitsuru outside of SEES was much needed.

INTERVIEW: Legendary Voice Actress Kikuko Inoue
Among the industury guests at Anime Central 2018 was Kikuko Inoue, a veteran voice actress whose work has defined anime for the past two decades. We had a change to interview her about her career, relationships, and history in the industry as a star so great she needs no introduction, because she provides it herself!
Kikuko Inoue: Hello, my name is Kikuko Inoue, I've been a voice actor for 30 years, but actually the joke is that I'm 17 years old and my fans respond with "Oi! Oi!" so every time I'm at an event I use that introduction. Within the voice acting industry, I have a lot of voice actor friends who have joined what I've created, called the 17 Years Old Club, such as Horie Yui and Tamura Yukari. So, one of my first prominent roles was Kasumi from Ranma 1/2 and she was the older sister I got my nickname "oneechan," or "older sister" from that role. I was also Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess and I've acted her on several different occasions, and for quite a long time so I feel like that's a role that's watched over me for a long time. Actually I get a lot of offers for mother or older sister characters, and especially recently I've been offered a lot of mother-like characters, but of course there are characters that are good mothers and bad mothers and I... will play both. *Laughs*
When I play these rather evil or bad mothers in shows I'm pretty sad to play those roles and have to be the villain in that case, but then, usually it's the case that the story has the child maturing and growing up, and overcoming such obstacles, and being able to move the audience in such a way that I, at the end of the show, feel very relieved to have been a part of it. The most recent example is The Ancient Magus' Bride, where I played Chise's mother, and she was a rather evil mother, but that the main character was able to overcome that obstacle was a big relief to me.  Since I do voice a lot of characters that are the mothers and older sisters, it's actually kind of refreshing and exciting for me to start to voice some of the villains as well. When I actually do voice the villain characters I get to say lines that I would definitely never utter myself in real life, but in a sense it's kind of like a feeling of catharsis. Of course other than anime I also have voiced a lot of characters in games and quite varying roles, such as Boss from Metal Gear Solid and I-No from Guilty Gear, so I'm definitely happy with my job and my life.
You've been voice acting since 1988, how has the field that you work in changed and developed over that time?
At first when I debuted I would just receive the script and be told to go to the studio, and then in front of the screen when I saw the footage for the first time I would be asked to voice act the role, but then maybe five or so years after I debuted I was actually able to receive a physical copy of the footage and be able to practice or view it at home before actually going to the studio. Once we got what a lot of us call "homework" we were able to practice many times over until our movements and our voices perfectly matched the mouth movements of the characters, so that we were able to nail it when we went into the studio.
Which role of yours do you think was the most important for your career?
I view all of the roles that I have played as my children, so I cannot honestly say one is more important than another.
A lot of the American voice actors talk about how when they record they're recording alone in the studio, but I believe in Japan they sometimes do group sessions. How does that work, do you do voices all at the same time or record on your own?
Yes, they definitely assemble the cast all together in one room, and this is common for all of the work that we do.  First we do a test run where everyone recites their lines and then the director has specific instructions for each actor where they say, "I want it more like this or like that," and after that instructional phase there is another test and then it goes onto the recording so a twenty or thirty minute episode probably takes three to four hours for us to record.
*She stands up to stand in front of a screen in the room to visually demonstrate the recording process she's explaining*
So as you can see, this is the screen where the footage is playing, there's probably three to four mics in the center of the room and everyone is sitting around in a circle, or a semi-circle and when it is your character that comes on-screen you have to find and open mic, it works like musical chairs, so you go to the first open mic to recite your lines and then as soon as your part is over you sit back down.  The work for the mic is pretty technical itself so a lot of the newer voice actors have a hard time finding a mic, or getting to the mic in time, so that's something that the voice actors have to learn.
Lust in Fullmetal Alchemist is a bit different from the type of character you often play, what was it like performing that role?
Even though Lust is a villain, she's a really cool character. *Laughs* Also, she's shown on a lot of the promotional items for Fullmetal Alchemist, so she's a pretty prominent character as well. When I was playing Lust, I pulled out the deepest depths of darkness within myself and then channeled that into the role.
Anime is really popular here in the United States, what do you feel about people seeing themselves in your characters and cosplaying them?
I really love cosplay! When I see someone cosplaying a character that I voice I get so excited that I wanna run over and greet them right away, and actually yesterday I took a lot of pictures together with people I saw that were cosplaying characters that I've voiced.
In 2009 you founded your own talent agency, Office Anemone, what got you interested in your own agency and how has that experience been?
Actually the president and other co-founder of Office Anemone is my older sister, who said "let's work together and form an agency," so I eventually decided that I would join her in her quest, but even though I left my previous agency, the voice acting industry is a very small world so I am still very close with a lot of the voice actors that I worked with and I still speak with them on a regular basis. There's a sort of wordplay with the name Office Anemone, where "ane" means "older sister," and "ane mo ne," is "with my older sister," but also anemone is also the name of a flower in Japan, so people associate it with that, so it has a double meaning.
You've mentioned that you're friends with Tamura Yukari, how did you feel to see her and other friends rise in popularity over the years?
I'm very happy! I'm always happy to see someone succeed, and as I said earlier the voice acting industry is a very small industry so especially with my friends I'm very close, and very happy to see another member of the Seventeen Years Old Club succeed, since I see them as siblings.
Have you met any of your American counterparts, who've voiced the same characters you've voiced?
Yeah, since I've been to a few events in North America I've been able to meet a fair number of voice actors, and yesterday doing my autograph session the English voice actor for Ed was doing his autograph session in the booth right next to mine, so I got to meet him and that was exciting.
Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess is one of your most well-known and beloved roles, what about that performance specifically makes it so popular?
I think it's just the aura and existence of Belldandy is so sublime in a certain way, where she's nice but it's- "nice" is not even the proper word to describe her, her kindness surpasses a normal level of kindness, and of course it's because she's a goddess, but it seems like she would be accepting of you no matter what happens and you could go to her for anything.  It isn't just kindness or niceness, but she's very strong, she has a very strong heart, and she seems like the type of character that would be able to cheer you up no matter what you're going through.
In addition to anime you've done a lot of voice acting for video games, what are the main differences between acting for anime and video games, and do you prefer either of them?
Like I mentioned earlier, for voicing anime we are all together in the studio, and if I were to compare it to a sport, where in acting for games you're just alone by yourself in a booth, anime is like a team sport, like baseball, everyone is going to be behind you and back you if you need help form your teammates, whereas voicing for games is like long-distance running where you are by yourself.  I do actually love both, you're overcoming the obstacles and get to face the task head-on when you're voicing for games, so they both have their advantages and I love working on both. So using the same analogy of sport, when I'm working on anime I always have to be thinking of a strategy of how to back someone up or how to successfully play off the others that are working with me, in a sense pass or receive with the other teammates, and when we achieve a perfect recording or a perfect result it really feels like a great accomplishment that the team had together, and when you're working on a game, just like running a marathon your opponent is yourself so when you're able to surpass your own expectations it is a really good feeling.
If you weren't doing voice acting what would you be doing?
Maybe a maid? I really love maid outfits and I actually wear them a lot, so what about a maid cafe? But they might be a little concerned about my age... I'm seventeen! [room: Oi! Oi!]
You've appeared in both of Kunihiko Ikuhara's recent anime, Mawaru Penguindrum and Yuri Kuma Arashi. He's known for being one of the most unique directors in the industry, so if you have any, what are your impressions of Ikuhara-san from your work with him?
I think he is a really great talent and he has a really high level of skill for his worldbuilding, and we're actually pretty close in real age as well, so I feel like we can get along with each other pretty well and I would love to work with him again.
You said that as your daughter starts her voice acting career you wanted her to start out with smaller roles and then build up from there. How do you feel now that she's begun voicing main character roles, Sakura in Pazudora and then Ruby in the upcoming Sora to Umi no Aida?
You knew! (In English): "Thank you very much!" Well yes, my daughter is actually three years older than me, but yes, I had said that I wanted her to mature gradually and take on more responsibility, but to see her get main roles, I'm very happy about it and also quite surprised.  One example is in Puzzle and Dragons where she is voicing the heroine, I've recently been called to voice a lot of small roles as well, and in that particular one I was called in to voice her mother in the show, so it's quite fun for me to see the reversal of roles, for her to be the main character and me to be the side character.
You've also done some stage performances, playing your character Cordelia in Sakura Wars live shows, what was it like doing stage acting?
I've also thought about the voice acting job as something that's behind the scenes, that we don't really appear in front of audiences that often, but it was quite different for Sakura Wars in which the voice actors all wore cosplays of their characters, and not only that they did a song and dance on stage, so definitely while I was surprised it was REALLY fun and I never thought I'd be able to do such a job. We had a lot of practice for the show, such as song and dance lessons, and for me particularly dance was quite challenging and despite all of the dance practice that we did, I for the life of me could not remember all of the dance steps, so, during the actual live performance itself, the actor who played Coquelicot was standing next to me so I would step just half a foot back and view her dance from the sides and sort of copy her movements, so if she messed up I would also mess up (laughter).
If you had the opportunity to stage act again would you take it, or do you prefer voice acting as a more streamlined career?
Yes, definitely I would love to take the chance again, but of course as you know with age... wait I'm seventeen so... For me in life I just love anything that's fun, and actually my theme or motto in life is to live with a smile and to provide a smile for others, so I would definitely accept anything that's fun or provides enjoyment to others.
How did you get your start in voice acting?
Actually I went to a specialty school for voice actors, and after I graduated I became a voice actor.
Finally, do you have a message for your fans here in the West?
Thank you very much for loving and enjoying Japanese animation, I really appreciate the fact that Japanese anime is able to connect people around the world and please continue to support and enjoy Japanese anime.  Oh! And games too, please support games as well! Thank you very much!

Marie x Fuuka Part 3 Drabble
Continuation from this drabble that Tacitusauxilium continued from my own.
=============================================
Its not that Marie likes being aggressive, she just dislikes impatience and indecisive people. Fuuka, sadly tends to fall one either scale, depending on the situation. In the case of Shinjiro, Marie could tell she was being indecisive. It had been 2 days already since their talk. Marie could still feel her cheek being a little sore but didn’t mind it. She had touched a few nerves, but she knew it had to be done. Fuuka needed to face the reality of what is, not what she wants it to be.
And its not like Marie doesn’t understand her, far from it. Marie fully understands how she feels. She told Fuuka a year ago about herself, who she really was. Formerly, Izanami, the Shinto Goddess of Creation and Death; reborn after events that went out of control and reincarnated her desires into this form; into Marie. Though Izanami didn’t count on Marie gaining her own consciousness, personality and wishes of life; a mistake, but not one that Izanami herself cared about. After the guest of the Velvet Room, Yu Narukami dealt with her, Izanami faded back to the collective unconscious, and Marie inherited her power and freedom from going through a similar fate as her original.
Though Marie didn’t just gain her powers, Marie also gained Izanami’s memories; memories of a happy life, that turned to ashes too quick, and the suffering that came with it from the land of the Dead. Marie felt Izanami’s longing to return to Izanagi, to try and make things back to how they were. But that’s not how that story ended.
Life guided them to different paths, and Marie felt that anguish in part of her own. She wanted Yu Narukami…but he already had another, long before she confessed. Who it was, Marie didn’t really care at the time. What she cared about was the pain. It hurt, Marie admitted that she was beyond hurt and angry, but overtime cooled off. One factor that helped was accepting things for what they were. It was hard, but she got over it, and decided to focus on herself.
That’s when she met Fuuka 2 months later at the red fog event and got her number. Marie had an apartment in Inaba, but the weather station she works with is well, not in Inaba, and talked with Fuuka about renting an apartment somewhere closer to where they both work. It was easy to find a suitable place for two, and she later met Shinjiro.
Of course, Marie isn’t blind to feelings. She knew that despite Fuuka being Shinjiro’s, ever since Shinjiro began to push her away, Fuuka began to look at her direction. It was subtle at first, but Marie could feel Fuuka’s glances, checking her out, asking to bathe together at the hot springs, sometimes cuddling together at night because Fuuka couldn’t sleep, and of course, learning about Fuuka’s past romances.
She had 5, though she only pursued 3. Minato, Junpei, Yukari, Mitsuru and Shinjiro. Yukari and Mitsuru she didn’t pursue, but the other 3 she did. According to Fuuka, Minato was cut short due to his sacrifice, and Junpei was not what she had hoped it would be (Fuuka described it as embarrassing). It made sense that she had bet it all on Shinjiro. It was her last hope, so to speak.
Unfortunately, she bet on a broken game; and she hated it. Like trying to pull on a lever that doesn’t work, just to see the lights go on one last time, Fuuka tried for nearly over a year to make things work…it didn’t. Marie wanted to say something, but Fuuka kept side-lining the issue. She didn’t want to get aggressive on Fuuka, she trusted her decision. But she’s glad she did what she did 2 days ago. Sometimes, enough is enough, and Fuuka had to let go before she hurt herself more than she already is.
That’s when Marie got a call, and a familiar tune she recognizes easily; a tune she picked for Fuuka’s number. Having finished her lunch no more than 30 minutes ago (plus doing the dishes), Marie plopped on the sofa and answered the call “Yo Teal, what’s up?”
“Marie? It’s Fuuka. Can you come get me? I…I am at Shinjiro’s. And…I NEED you to do something for me.”
Marie wanted to groan, and yell, and many other things involving her mouth and fists. But at the same time, she should have expected as much. ‘Goddammit Teal’ “Fine. I’ll be there soon.” She hung up and grabbed her bag. “Can’t believe her, seriously…?” grabbing the key to the apartment, she locked the door and ran off.
It took her about 25 minutes, give or take. Marie wasn’t counting nor she cared. She ran over to the apartment complex Shinjiro lives in and found Fuuka just outside of Shinjiro’s room. “Teal.”
Marie could tell Fuuka definitely tried to do something with Shinjiro. Her hair is unbraided, and her clothes are put on, but not quite where they should be. And the hickies, mostly the hickies. Marie sighed, already feeling a headache coming. “Teal-“
“Stop.” Fuuka said “…We didn’t.” she bit her lip. “…We couldn’t. In the end, you were right. There’s passion, but not love. If there was, its long gone in a pool of self-pity, that I can’t clean up. Not anymore.” Fuuka said that, but even she couldn’t believe she was saying it; despite it being the truth. It hurt. She wanted to cry again…but not now. “I’m…” she turns to Marie, eyes welling. “I want-no, NEED for you…to erase Shinjiro’s memories of me; and mine of him.”
As she finished, Fuuka closed her eyes, and braced herself for Marie’s screaming. She could hear it right now.
“Alright.”
And there it-Eh? Fuuka had do a double-take. She opened her eyes. “…Alright…?” Fuuka couldn’t believe it. “…No screaming? No telling me I’m wrong?”
Marie shook her head. “…It isn’t worth it. I’m not in the mood, and its clear you and Hobo were able to accept things.” She shrugs. “I mean…I don’t like doing that. But if both of you want this, then alright. I’ll do it.”
Fuuka was half-tempted to pinch herself because it sounded too good to be true. Marie would normally reject her offer, telling her to think about it. But it seems Marie trusts her decision. She probably realizes, Fuuka already thought about it.
Her heart filled with joy; she could only do one thing. She embraced Marie in a hug and leans on her. “…Thank you Marie-chan…” she nuzzled onto her chest. “Thank you…”
Marie’s cheeks turned a faint pink. “Jeez Teal, you sure love your hugs.” She returns the hug and holds Fuuka gently in her arms.
Fuuka oh so wanted so bad to just stay there and hug Marie, bask in her warmth…but it had to end.
Reluctantly, Fuuka lets go of Marie. She stares deep into her green eyes, almost as if conveying her feelings.
Marie gently patted Fuuka’s head. “It won’t be long. Can you wait here?” Fuuka nods. “Ok…” Marie took a deep breath and went inside.
The apartment wasn’t as dirty as Marie expected. Heck, it’s a lot cleaner than she recalls the last time coming in. Still…seeing Shinjiro lying on the sofa, it hurt to see the man Marie remembers as bulky and strong to have come to be so frail and weak.
Marie wanted to pity it, but she knew Shinjiro wouldn’t want that. “Hey.” Shinjiro had his eyes closed, but he still greeted Marie. “Took you long enough.”
Marie snorted, and sits on the smaller seat next to the big couch Shinjiro’s in. “You knew I was coming huh?”
Shinjiro grunted. “Fuuka is many things. Hiding secrets is not one of them.” Marie had to chuckle at that.
“That much is true.” Marie etches a small smile. “Remember when she tried to hide that birthday surprise, but you just knew because of how she was acting?”
“Heh…” Shinjiro chuckled. “Yeah…I still pretended, for her sake.” He sighed. “For what little it mattered though.”
Marie sighed. “So, you know what I’m going to do.” Shinjiro nods.
“Its fine…its…” Shinjiro bit his lip “Its for the best. Fuuka’s too attached to me. Far more than she should have…I should have fought back and not let that happen, but she reminded me too much of Miki.” He scoffs at himself “Some fool I am.”
“Nah.” Marie shook her head. “Naïve, probably…but not a fool Hobo. You thought you could love her, but it’s hard to when you don’t really love yourself.”
“Tell me about it.” Shinjiro agreed to that. “Part of me hates the fact that I gave up. I know I let Aki and Mitsuru down.” He sighed. “But the thing is…this was going to happen sooner or later. Nothing could have prevented that.” He opens his eyes. “I guess I knew…which is why I didn’t really try. Why prolong the inevitable?”
“Teal tried.”
Shinjiro sighed. “Yeah…she did. To no avail. We both knew that.” Marie silently nodded in agreement.
Neither of the two said anything for a few minutes; their silence not one of fear, rather, uncertainty.
Shinjiro finally decided to break the ice. “…How is…Death like?” he asks.
Marie shifted her position a bit lightly, crossing her legs. “…Many see it as the end, and…I guess in a way, its true. Your life as you know it; ends.” She shook her head. “But your soul, the essence of who you are, that never dies. Think of it as release of all that is ‘normal’ of you. The need to eat, the need to sleep, the need to drink…all gone. Whatever physical burdens you have are gone and no longer ail you. The pain goes away, and you feel…free; like when you’re floating on the water, but lighter than that. You feel weightless.”
“…Sounds promising already.” He joked, though a coughing fit soon followed. “Fuck…” he cleared his throat. “Sorry about that.”
“Its fine.” Marie shrugged. “But the realm of the dead varies. I…well…Izanami, had domain of Yomi, but there are many realms of the dead. The River Styx, The Aztec Underworld, the Greek Underworld…yeah, I did mention before that all the mythologies were real at one point. The realms involved are also real. Each region and their Gods handle death in a different matter, but ultimately, once the punishment, if it’s necessary, is done for that deserve it, they go back to the endless cosmos of the collective unconsciousness.” Marie explains. “Then you can choose to return to the world you were born from and be reborn…but as someone else entirely. The person you were, and all its memories will vanish…or you can choose to go to another world, and retain your memories; or just…chill floating as a soul that learns from other souls in the realm for eternity if that’s your thing. Some do that, some don’t.”
“Hmm…so would I be going to Yomi?” Shinjiro asks. Marie shook her head.
“Only the sinners go there, and Shinto culture and its Gods view Sin differently. I can tell you won’t go to Yomi. You didn’t do anything wrong. Bad decisions don’t mean you’re a bad person Hobo.”
“Heh…” Shinjiro smirked at that. “So, Takaya’s rotting in Yomi then.”
“…I guess.” Marie recalls that name being mentioned before from Fuuka. Some organization that her group had to fight. S…strategy? Spaghetti? Stratos? …she’ll ask Fuuka later. “But you’re good. So…at least you have that. You’ll be at peace, and you can look for your Miki.”
“…Shit, death is looking real promising.” Shinjiro closes his eyes. “…Can I ask one last thing? Consider it my final request.”
Marie nods. “Yeah…shoot.”
“Fuuka. We both know she loves you.” He sighed. “That girl falls in love so quickly. Minato, Junpei, Takeba, Mitsuru, me…the girl gets smitten too damn easy. Show her affection and she practically cling you like a puppy.” He chuckled “That’s a good comparison–” he coughs again “Dammit…so my request is simple. Love her Marie. She deserves that after the way her parents treated her; after Natsuki treated her…heck, how I treated her. She deserves a lot, and…You’re the only who can anymore.” He coughs again.
“Everyone else that she could have something with, is already taken, or long gone.” He turns to Marie, opening his eyes. “I know you love her too. You got nobody else after all.”
Marie couldn’t refute that because it was true. The one love she had, Yu Narukami, taken. And everyone else from the IT were taken as well. Any options she had were closed before she could open the door. Fuuka is much like herself in that regard. Neither of them has other options. In the end…they have each other. And Marie is okay with that. She does love Fuuka dearly to her heart. Her innocence, her love for technology and sci-fi, her enthusiasm in general is contagious. How could Marie not come to love her eventually, with all the time they spent together?
Marie closed her eyes and smiled. She nodded. “I was going to talk to her about it later. So…yeah. I can do that. I’ll love her real nice Hobo.”
Shinjiro sighed, smiling. “Then there’s nothing left to talk about.” He closed his eyes. “Alright…go ahead.”
Marie nodded, and with the tip of her index finger, she touches Shinjiro’s forehead. Marie glows a faint white, and so does Shinjiro.
Slowly, Marie erased all memories of Fuuka from Shinjiro’s mind. From their meeting, to their cooking lessons, to their inevitable accident…their first kiss…and their last memory together of a failed passion.
All gone.
“Sleep.” Marie whispered, and Shinjiro falls into a deep sleep. Marie isn’t sure if her hearing was wrong, but she could have sworn Shinjiro said ‘Thank you’, to her.
Whatever the case…it’s done. Marie got up and bowed to Shinjiro. “May your dreams be filled with happiness Hobo, and your death…it will be painless. I ensured that at least.”
With one last look, Marie turns and walks out of the apartment, closing the door behind her after locking it. Fuuka is waiting for her outside, staring at the city.
“…Is it done?” Fuuka asked, her voice trembling. Anticipation, fear…? She doesn’t know. Marie leans on the rails next to Fuuka, and nods.
“It’s done…you’re no longer a presence in his story.” Marie said.
“…Good, good yes…good.” Fuuka quivered, gritting her teeth. “…I…I’m happy…a-about that…”
Marie sighed. “You’re not a good liar Teal-“
“Let me have this Marie. Just…please.” Fuuka practically begged as tears rolled down her eyes.
Marie said nothing, instead she embraced Fuuka in a hug, and Fuuka practically clung to her as she let out what little tears, she has left for Shinjiro and herself.
Eventually, Fuuka stopped, and sniffed. Marie handed her a napkin, and Fuuka blew her nose. “Thanks…” Fuuka tosses the napkin onto a trash can nearby. “I’m…” she glances at Shinjiro’s door. “…I’m ready to go back.”
Marie offers her hand to Fuuka. Fuuka takes it, gently intertwining her fingers with Marie’s. “I’ll cook tonight, if that’s ok.”
Fuuka nods “Yeah, I…I would appreciate that.”
The journey back to their apartment was a quiet one, but at least Fuuka didn’t seem sad anymore, from what Marie could tell.
After arriving, Fuuka took a nap, and Marie cooked dinner, deciding to use her time to do so. By the time she was done, Dusk started to settle in, and in the early hours of the evening, Fuuka came out of her bedroom, and took a long bath in the bathroom.
When she came out in her nightgown and underwear, hair loose, she sat on the sofa, next to Marie, who had taken a bath sometime before after she finished dinner and is in a pair of underwear and loose tank-top.
Marie isn’t really much for subtlety, not that Fuuka minded. It let her view Marie all she wanted, and Fuuka enjoys what she sees. But what’s on her mind isn’t just her desires of passion, but desires that she had chosen to ignore; but no more.
“Sleep well Teal?” Marie asks. Fuuka nodded to her.
“I did.” She bit her lip. “Say…Marie-chan?”
“Yeah?” Marie mutes the show she was watching and turns her had to look at Teal, with Fuuka doing the same to her.
“I want to talk.” Fuuka leaned closer to Marie. “…About us.”

EMPATHY AND TRUST, or: how yukari only truly connects with people when she finds something in them she can relate to.
yukari is, without a shadow of a doubt, incredibly selfish. it’s not a conscious thing, and it’s not something that can place upon her a label of “bad person” by any means. it’s a real flaw she can never shake off no matter how hard she tries, and she really does try. anger is a comfortable state of being for her because it’s both a shield and a weapon. a shield to protect herself from vulnerability she hates displaying and a weapon to scare away anyone who tries to venture into a part of herself she isn’t ready to share. and maybe she never will, not unless she finds something in you that she can see herself in. she gets so caught up thinking she’s the only one suffering she fails to consider other people’s feelings more than once.
she’s popular at school due to both her looks and her incredibly friendly disposition. she’s not the smartest or the most talented, but she’s always cheerful and positive. this yukari is the one that friends outside the dorm will only get to see, because her loneliness isn’t something she broadcasts to the public.
yukari’s arcana is the lovers, which represents a balance in relationships. through her entire life since eiichiro’s death, yukari has felt incredible (and more often than not, detrimental) bitterness towards “full” families that have both parents and their children, since she grew up without either of those. her father died and was made to take the sole blame for the incident, and with him gone, the public could only direct their rage at his remaining family. at 6 years old, yukari had to endure the wrath of the people who believed her father to be a murderer. it had gotten to the point she and her mother had to move away multiple times to escape the harassment. whereas yukari clung to the belief that her father was innocent, her mother’s grief led her to jump into the arms of many men that she would bring home without regards for yukari’s comfort and neglected her.
thorough the entirety of the game, and even her whole life, we see yukari truly connecting with only five people: the protagonist, fuuka, mitsuru, junpei, and aigis.
for the 10 years they were estranged, yukari has had no one to share her own feelings with until she meets the protagonist. for the first time in those excruciatingly lonely 10 years of her trying to take on the world by herself, she meets someone whom she can relate to, someone she feels comfortable sharing her past with. she’s never felt an equally balanced relationship between her and her mother and her friends at school, but she does with the protagonist when learning about how they experienced similar losses and how they lived without a “full” family. she can relate to their story, and so it’s with this empathy that she opens up and begins to trust them. they’re the very first person whom she feels she stands on equal footing with. in her own words: “Each time I open my eyes, it seems like I’m one step behind. But when I’m with you, I don’t feel that way...”
the second one is fuuka, though it’s much more subtle than how we’ve seen yukari connect with the protagonist and mitsuru. after learning about fuuka’s disappearance, yukari overhears their bullies making fun of her and is rightfully angry, but it actually touched a very sore spot for her: harassment. it reminds her of how she herself as a child was at the end of the public’s anger upon believing eiichiro to be the murderer of their loved ones. so yukari becomes protective over fuuka, but once she sees her determination to fight, she steps back and they become very good friends, because, once again, yukari has found a balanced relationship between them as she saw something in fuuka she could relate to, even going as far as to trust her with something as vulnerable and personal as her father’s video.
the next is mitsuru, the most blatant example next to the protagonist. yukari felt inferior to mitsuru for a good amount of time, and through the game we see her acting unnecessarily hostile and confrontative towards her due to her own inferiority and jealousy. not only did mitsuru seem to be perfect at everything she did, but she actually had a father and was the heir of the group whom she believed had framed her father in some way. for the longest time yukari doubts mitsuru’s truthfulness and her intentions, and she constantly failed to think of mitsuru’s own feelings and circumstances because she was so caught up in her own problems. when takeharu dies, yukari snaps out of her bad judgement because she had lost her father the way yukari had lost hers, and with this new balance in their relationship, yukari steps up to fix what she could and to support mitsuru the way no one had supported her as a young fatherless child.
now, yukari and junpei’s relationship is very complex and yet not, but what is often misunderstood is that they really are friends. vitriolic friends, sure, but friends nonetheless. they’re the type to mutually tease and playfully insult the other, and junpei doesn’t mind yukari’s jabs just as yukari isn’t actually that annoyed at his antics unless he actually steps out of line. junpei is usually the very first person who notices when yukari seems off or comments on it, and yukari often notices his changes in mood as well and expresses concern. they’re not best friends, and i’m sad they didn’t get to connect within the game, but when junpei loses chidori, yukari noticeably softens her edges around him and does her best to comfort him. just the way she lost someone she loved, he goes through the same thing and it’s that empathy that brings them closer.
with aigis, it gets a little more personal because the wounds of the protagonist’s death are still very fresh. yukari is bitter and she’s jealous and she’s mourning. she’s still in love with him and takes it out on aigis: aigis who stayed by his side during his last moments, who didn’t show up to his funeral, who inherited orpheus and his role anyway. she comes around after losing the fight against her and metis, and apologizes to aigis for failing to see that they were the same, hurting and lost and unable to move on. again, yukari finds a balance in their relationship and opens up to aigis, even offering to become roommates at the end of the answer and becoming closer friends than they were during the game.
yukari’s anger is explosive and hurts a lot of people, and she’s so concerned over her own problems she forgets other people are hurting too. she’s selfish and self-centered but incredibly kind, only worn and torn due to the aforementioned abuse she had to deal with. she knows she’s short-tempered and apologizes so much afterwards for it because it’s something she can’t control at the heat of the moment, but it’s hard for her to trust anyone since the only people who knew of her past have done nothing but hurt her.

K ~ Four Seasons of K: Beans and Prayers
Tumblr media
The first story from the 4 seasons of K series, starring the Silver clan. The original Japanese text is kindly provided by blueseraphima.
Beans and Prayers by Raikaku Rei
"Let us celebrate Setsubun," Ichigen said with a smile on his face.
It was February - Kuro's first February since he was taken in and came under tutelage of Miwa Ichigen.
Ichigen loved watching seasons change one another and always looked forward to it, subsequently treasuring seasons-related traditions and celebrations. And Kuroh found that trait, among Ichigen's others, simply wonderful. To Kuroh, the man was his savior, as well as his mentor in life, and the boy strove to observe every aspect of Ichigen's everyday life and learn from it.
So Kuroh gave a big nod at the suggestion. "Yes, Ichigen-sama!" "Alright, then I will play the demon."
Kuroh was eager, but when those calm serene words came out of Ichigen's mouth, his bearing immediately changed. "No, Ichigen-sama! I cannot bear the thought of you playing the demon! And I will absolutely cannot allow anyone to throw beans at you! Please let me be the demon!" Kuroh shouted passionately, and Ichigen cocked his head to the side, making a troubled face.
Yukari, Ichigen's other disciple and Kuroh's senior, sitting on the porch with one knee up tending to his nails, intoned without raising his head, "Wouldn't it get us in trouble though if grownups see a child being hit with beans?"
At Yukari's words, Kuroh felt their truth dawn on him. How awful it was that he almost caused Ichigen-sama to lose his standing and people's respect because of him!
"These days, in ordinary households it's customary for the father to play the demon." "In Kuroh's case, that would be me, wouldn't it." "But having to throw beans at you, Ichigen-san, I... I just can't...!"
Watching frantic Kuroh who looked on the verge of dropping to his knees in despair at any moment, Ichigen's face took on an even more troubled expression as he shifted his gaze to Yukari. "Yukari..." "No, thank you," Yukari cut off resolutely, still not lifting his head.
Ichigen gave a little wry smile and stroked Kuroh's head. "Then we will throw beans but without a demon."
At Ichigen's proposal, Kuroh tilted his head to the side. "Can you even throw beans when there is no demon?" "Of course you can. Choosing someone to play the demon and throwing beans at him is fun, but let us try that next year, when you can do it together with the other children from the village. Today, let us exorcise a real demon, what do you say to that?" "A real demon...?" Kuroh looked at the man in puzzlement, and Ichigen nodded with a smile. "When a person plays the role of the demon, things that demons represent become easy to understand, that is why this tradition is so widespread, but originally, demons are something that cannot be seen with your eyes." "Cannot be seen..."
To Kuroh, a demon was a scary monster with red or blue skin, with horns on its head and toting a club. But Ichigen was saying that that shape was just an image to make understanding demons easier.
"That is right. Demons are negativity and maliciousness, something like bad air that you cannot see. So at Setsubun, by scattering beans, you cleanse that bad air and pray for happiness and health."
Before being taking in by Ichigen, Kuroh was akin bad air himself. Having done one too many bad things, he even considered himself the source of evil. Maybe he really should play the demon...
But just as Kuroh thought this, Yukari snorted lightly. "If we could cleanse maliciousness just by scattering beans, no one would have any troubles. The only way to clear dark clouds is through your own will and power."
Kuroh looked at the senior disciple with wide eyes. He still couldn't figure him out, but sometimes the man did say things that were eye-opening to Kuroh.
Ichigen smiled a broad smile. "It is like Yukari says. However, prayer is a manifestation of a person's will, and something that translates into power."
Yukari was silent for a few moments, looking like he was pondering Ichigen's words, then smiled back at his mentor. "I can't deny that." Getting up, he added, "Well then, let's throw some beans, shall we?"
*
"We shall celebrate Setsubun," Kuroh declared, a hand on his hip.
Shiro looked at the calendar. "Now that you mentioned, today is the 3rd of February, huh," he noted. "Setsubun is a strange celebration where you're supposed to chase the person wearing a demon's mask and throw beans at them, then face a certain direction and eat futomaki rolls in silence, right?" "Technically, you're not too off the mark, but I feel there is a big misunderstanding in your perception," Kuroh frowned his brows. "Well, in the past, it was celebrated on a larger scale, I heard. The Lieutenant once said that preparing for his family's ceremony was no walk in the park." "...I'm inclined to think that times have nothing to do with that, it was simply that celebration the Kokujouji household held was special. If memory serves, Elder Kokujouji was from the family line of exorcists, was he not?" "Yeah, now that I think about it, indeed. So we're going to do it the normal style, yes? With beans? And with ehomaki?"
Kuroh produced a box of parched beans he had prepared beforehand and placed it on the tea table. "Here's the beans."
And this was where he realized something: the loudest person out of the three of them was currently completely silent, curling up on the floor pillow. From her breathing, Kuroh knew that she wasn't sleeping.
"Neko?" "I won't celebrate," she answered back, voice hard.
Kuroh stared at her in wonder.
Neko didn't hold back when expressing her emotions, so it was unusual for her to sulk like that without coming forth and saying clearly what her problem was. Kuroh was perfectly aware that this was no time to press forward blindly without listening to Neko's reasons first, so he came to her side and sat down on his knees.
"What's wrong, Neko?" "...I won't celebrate." "Why? Are you not feeling well?" "No, that's not it."
That left Kuroh more perplexed than before, and he turned to Shiro for help.
Shiro's eyes softened as he called out to Neko who lay with her back to him. "You don't want to have to throw beans, Neko?" "..." This silence was all the confirmation they needed.
Kuroh reached out and petted Neko's head. Just like with a real cat, he combed through her hair, lightly stirring it out of place.
Neko rolled, changing her position to face Kuroh and Shiro. The expression she wore on her face was sulkish, but her eyes were tinged with real sadness.
"I don't like to be hit with beans." "No one said you have to play the demon..." "I'm not a demon."
The realization hit Kuroh. "Someone threw beans at you, didn't they?"
Neko drew her knees up and hugged them with both arms, curling up on herself even more and bodily rocking. Lips pursed, she explained with whining tone. "Earlier, some boys shouted "The demon out!" and threw heas of beans at me. ...Even though I'm not a demon."
Kuroh clenched his fists in anger. Neko must have walked around, making those around her see her as a cat through the use of her perception manipulation ability. You could always find rotten brats who bullied small animals anywhere. Kuroh gritted his teeth wishing he was there at the time to catch the brats and give them a good scolding.
"And what did you do after that, Neko?" Shiro asked mildly, and Neko snorted roughly. "They called me a demon, so I showed a really scary demon!"
...So the brats got what they had coming even without Kuroh stepping in and giving them a scolding.
Shiro chuckled and stroked Neko's head. "You're so strong, Neko. But I'd like you to realize that Setsubun itself is not to blame just because those children happened to do a bad thing." "But..." Neko mumbled, eyes tearful.
It looked like the prank hurt her quite deeply, Kuroh sensed. Neko was a brash girl, but as fate would have it, she had to wander all alone as a kitten for so long. A lot of things must have happened to her during that period. A lot of hurtful things, like bullying and cruel treatment, that left lasting scars on her heart. Perhaps, she was reminded of them all too vividly.
"Neko, listen. Actually, the ritual of throwing beans at demons to drive them out is no child's play. Demons are nothing more than the shape to make understanding maliciousness that's like invisible bad air, easier. Scattering beans is a ritual where you cleanse that maliciousness and pray for happiness and health." "I don't get it," Neko was quick to wrinkle her forehead and shoot Kuroh down, even though he told her what Ichigen once told him almost word for word. That immediately set Kuroh's teeth on edge, but Shiro cut in smoothly with a smile. "In other words, you're supposed to pray when scattering beans. Bad things might happen, but you should wish for the three of us to weather them and for lots of good things to happen, see? Because when you pray, your prayer can really translate into strength."
Kuroh's eyes widened slightly.
...A prayer that would translate into strength. Ichigen-sama said something along these lines as well.
For the next while, Neko simply silently gazed at Shiro. Kuroh watched and waited for her reply with batted breath.
"Lots of good things. For the three of us," Neko repeated and suddenly broke into a broad smile, nodding. "I get it!" Neko sprang up from her disheartened curling position and pumped her fists in the air. "We decided to do it, so let's do it~!" "Good grief, what a bewildering girl," Kuroh smiled a lopsided smile and lifted the box with the beans. "Well then, take your beans."
Each of the three grabbing a handful of beans, they chanted in unison, "Demons out! Good fortune in!"
When they were done scattering beans, Kuroh counted the number of beans equal to Neko's age and handed them over to her.
"You want me to eat this?" "That's right. It is said that you can stay healthy if you eat the number of beans equal to how old you are." "Hmmm," Neko elongated without much interest and wolfed down her beans. The face she made then informed the other two that she found their taste neither good nor bad.
"Do I have to eat them, too...?" Shiro looked Kuroh's way, perplexity written all over his face. Kuroh nodded solemnly. "That's right. Count them yourself though, then make sure to eat up all of them and pray to stay healthy." "Hey, hey, Kurosuke, I'd rather have the other food we're supposed to eat! The futomaki that you mentioned earlier!" "Oh, so you listened to what we talked about, despite sulking, huh... Alright then, I'll make some ehomaki later." "Yay~!"
While Kuroh and Neko clamored excitedly, Shiro, feeling like an ascetic monk in training, kept counting the beans to match the number of his years, with no end in sight.

Confessional - A Frozen Facade Drabble -
Permission to autopilot granted by @goofyfacade
'Why can't you be more truthful with yourself?!'
'Can't you just take a break already?'
'Are you that ashamed to admit it?'
Happy birthday, Meggu trash husubando <3
--------------
Their fight had been brief and ended as swiftly as it had started, but it still stung. His words ran deep to her core and in the span of the week after the occurrence, Mitsuru found it harder and harder to focus on work. Everyone around her could see it, though few dared to make comments about it out of fear of retaliation. It was uncommon for the Kirijou woman to show any sort of weakness or hesitance, but his words crippled her very being.
"Kikuno, I am quite sorry, but would you be willing to continue this task? My sense of being has been compromised and I would be ashamed to bring down the integrity of the team with my current state of mind."
A quick nod and sound of agreement towards the door from the purple haired female allowed the heiress to retreat from her desk, pale digits gripping tightly around her laptop bag to pull it from it's keep. Tonight. It would be tonight that she would properly apologize. While both parties were at fault, the very fact that the raven haired male had filled her with so much gut wrenching guilt and apprehension ate away at her heart. She knew exactly what she was feeling and hated every second of it, Yukari's reaction only continuing to confirm the very essence of the situation.
'Oh my god Mitsuru are you in love with him?!?'
Love? Maybe that's what this really was. That emotion that historically drove so many people to grow was what was driving her to dabble in new things, new adventures with the goofy male. Fingers ghosted across the screen of her cell phone hitting each key with precision to ensure the swiftest delivery of her endeavors, emails being sent to a myriad of recipients to put her plans into motion; A game store, chef, clothing store, and a landlord all began an emailing game of tag and reply.
'Ugh that's gross, I can't see what you see in him, but it's your choice. Have you honestly told him how you feel?'
Honestly? No. It hadn't even been until their fight that she'd truly begun to understand exactly what she was feeling for Adachi. The entire situation was foreign to her and all of it brought about new emotions and feelings she had never felt before. For years, she's devoted herself to her work and her family. Even as a child she grew up learning and studying to prepare to take over the Kirijou group eventually. Hell, she'd even been involved in an arranged marriage for longer than she could remember thought thankfully it had been dissolved. Romance? She'd only ever flirted with the idea of it once before, and it didn't exactly go very well. But this time it would be different.
"Merci, madame. Your assistance shall be greatly rewarded."
The landlord had made quick work providing spare information and entry into Adachi's apartment, the barren and stark interior actually fitting as a beautiful counterbalance to his over exuberant personality. Boxes had been sitting outside the abode, the chef she'd called in waiting eagerly nearby to be called to complete the tasks at hand. All that remained was to test out her new attire, a lump in her throat forming out of a newfound embarrassment towards what had been selected by the designer. Red hues glanced at the time and she set to work, boxes torn open and arranged neatly on the couch, new handheld systems and respective games she'd overheard him mentioning wanting all perfectly prepared. Naturally they'd have sushi finished and waiting for when he got home, she wasn't going to skimp on anything for this apology and set up. She owed him.
she owed him big. For months they'd been what would be called a pair, merely flirtatious but never outwardly admitting their true relationship. And it wasn't that she was embarrassed or ashamed by the thought, no not at all. Mitsuru needed time to properly understand what she herself was experiencing, time to accept and welcome the newly discovered set of emotions. The woman stopped momentarily to think, the chef had finished his ordeal and already left, everything was set up and ready, but she was running low on time. Caution was thrown to the wind, the red head donning the new outfit to really push the sincerity of her gestures. Cheeks flushed pink, the skirt being far shorter than her usual tastes, but she knew it would please him. Never once had she backed down from a challenge nor had she ever given less than 110% in something she was serious about.
He was home. Ears twitched hearing the door swing open, a very confused and disheveled man entering the apartment. Tohru Adachi. It had been days since they'd last seen each other much less spoken with one another, so the look on his was justified. She spoke first.
                                                  "I am sorry."
                                                      "Wha-"
"I am sorry, Adachi. It took me longer than it should have to rea-"
"Mitsy. Chill. It's fine. We were both upset and reacted poorly. You didn't have to-" The blush on his face was faint but visible, her attire and the display in front of him catching him off guard in all manners of the phrase. He ran his hand through his unkempt hair, dark orbs darting around from item to item between the gaming systems and games, the food, the babe. Was he dreaming? If he was, he didn't want to be woken up.
"Yes I did. I am sorry for far more than what we had fought about."
Every chance she had she would make eye contact with him to exude her sincerity and apologetic display, Mitsuru only breaking contact to procure her own handheld to load in a game he'd recommended for her. "You do realize, you may need to teach me how to play this." A wink and a skip, the Kirijou woman took her place at the table to dine upon their personal feast, the man quickly following in suit. Laughs followed, jokes and apologies fleeting as their bond reignited in the fires of the atmosphere, the sushi vanishing faster than it had been prepared, the bottle of sake the chef had left diminishing in no time.
                                                     "Shall we?"
The couple made their way towards the couch once more, bodies bearing full and content stomachs resting themselves against the cushions. Relaxed and dressed down, no longer physically bound by their usual garments for work, the tension in the air had finally broken. Limbs tangled together as the couple carefully moved against one another, making sure to keep the handheld's from falling. Curls cascaded around the couple as they laid together, her head resting against his shoulder, his own laying against hers making sure to nuzzle closer. Focus remained entirely towards the glimmering screens in front of both parties, no words being exchanged despite the intimate contact. It was time.
                                                    "....Tohru?"
                                                 "Yeah, Mitsy?"
                                                "....I love you."

Chapter 2;; Climbing Up Towards Hope
Flashback — September 2nd
Fuuka was beyond excited, and it was all thanks to Natsuki. A few days ago, Natsuki won a free ramen lunch at a raffle place just down the street from the dorms. Natsuki was gonna to invite Fuuka, but realized that she had family plans and gave it to Fuuka. She stated that she could go with "that someone she adores" and Fuuka protested.
I don't have a special someone. …okay, maybe I do have someone I envy.
She had her sights on the one guy who complimented her at the beach over a month ago: Junpei Iori. Fuuka enjoyed his jokes, albeit perverted sometimes, and loved his laugh. It was the little things she liked about him, but she never knew how to get close to him. Until today.
As she walked down the stairs, she was slightly relieved to see only a few people: Yukari, who was deeply emerged in a novel, Shinjiro, who was in the kitchen preparing food for Koromaru, Minako, who was doing some homework, and Junpei, who was reading a new comic book. It seemed as if the circumstances couldn't be any more perfect.
Fuuka reached into her pocket, pulling out a brand new shiny ticket for ramen—buy one get one free—and they could go together and have fun. Just the two of them—the thought made Fuuka smile and hopeful. She almost began to skip down the stairs, trying her hardest to hide her happiness. Fuuka let out a force cough, making Junpei, Minako, and Yukari turn towards her.
"Hmm? What is it Fuuka-tan?" Junpei asked, putting down his comic book as Fuuka was trying to hide her shit eating grin on her lips. "What are you so happy about?"
That was obvious, wasn't it?
"Well, I thought you would like this." Fuuka handed him the coupon to the ramen place as Junpei read it and let the gears in his head turn. "…Natsuki couldn't go, s-so I thought that maybe you'd like this and could take someone with you..."
"W-whoa! Fuuka, this is amazing!" Junpei jumped up, moving his comic to the coffee table in front of him as he walked over to Minako as she trilled her pencil in her fingers. "Heyyyy, Mina-tan—wanna go with me? It looks like it is only good for today!"
…wait. …what? But…!
"…Sure. I can take a break from studying. But," Minako stated as she noticed her eyes trained onto Fuuka's face. She could tell that Fuuka was defeated, that this was supposed to be for them both. Minako got the idea, but before she could say anything, Fuuka pipped up.
"N-no, no. You both go ahead—I got some studying to do, anyway." Fuuka waved her hand at them, trying to not let Minako know that she wasn't okay with this, but she was used to it.
Junpei grinned as he ran up to his room. This gave Minako a chance to be with Fuuka. "Fuuka, are you sure? I don't want to take this away from you. I'm sure you wanted this to be a da—"
"No. I…I think he'll enjoy it more with you around rather than me. I-I'll just try again later. Just have a great time, okay?" Fuuka smiled as she could feel Junpei rushing pass her, as if she was invisible, as Minako nodded slowly.
"If you say so—I'll at least tell you how it goes, if Junpei doesn't eat it all." Minako promised, holding up her pinkie finger as she left the dorm with Junpei in tow. Fuuka felt as if 20 pounds was just added to her back—it made her feel heavy, depressed, and a bit on the sad side.
Fuuka sighed as she moved towards the kitchen to see what Shinjiro was cooking. Hmmm…sushi. That won't be too bad tonight. Haven't had Aragaki-senpai's sushi yet. She was deep in thought as she sat on the bar stool, trying to get her mind away from Junpei, which wasn't working. Yukari slightly frowned—she wished Fuuka was more determined to go after him. There was no one on Junpei's radar, that she could of know, so why didn't he try to talk her into going?
Shinjiro could see Fuuka staring at his food, but didn't know that she was just staring and not paying attention. He waved his hand a few times in her face as she blushed lightly, shaking her head to bring her attention back to the real world.
"Tch. He's a dumbass." He mentioned as he carefully rolled the sushi together with the seaweed. "Wouldn't even know if someone's hitting on him unless they were hitting him with something."
Fuuka bit her lip. "…I'm an idiot, right?" Shinjiro blinked, surprised to hear something like that come out of her lips. "…he has someone else, I just know it. Lucia has been keeping small Intel on everyone—Minato's worn out from track meets, Ken is trying to drink more milk (and hates it), and Junpei has been even more distracted, in school and in battle. Now… now it makes sense…" Fuuka crossed her arms and laid them on the counter, her head on top of them.
Shinjiro put a couple sushi rolls on a plate and handed them to Fuuka. "So? Fuck him—there are many other people to talk to. Iori is just…stupid."
Yukari walked over and nodded, carrying her novel in her hand. "He is called Stupei for a reason, Fuuka. Don't forget that." She put her hand on her shoulder. "Besides, senpai is right—and if he doesn't reciprocate the feelings, then that's on him."
"…Yeah, I guess you are right, Yukari-chan." She giggled as she turned to offer her some of Shinjiro's sushi. "Want to try one with me? Smells like…" Fuuka sniffed it and looked at it more. "Is that crab…with cucumber and avocado?" Fuuka took a bite, a smile forming on her lips. "Ahhh! Delicious! The avocado makes the sushi sweeter—is it really that simple, Aragaki-senpai?"
Shinjiro was slightly surprised that Fuuka could tell ingredients were in it before even tasting it. He was amused to say the least. "Most of the time—fresh avocado makes the sushi sweeter or tangy, depending on who made it." He crossed his arms as both girls finished the taste testing of his new sushi. "I'll make some more for your lunches."
Fuuka nodded as Yukari licked her fingers, responding with "Yes, I'd like to have some—don't leave any for Junpei." Yukari giggled as Fuuka smiled softly, finishing up her sushi roll. Yukari made it upstairs and Koromaru took her warm seat. Fuuka looked up at Shinjiro, a small smile on her lips.
"I…I appreciate this. I hope I could cook with you and learn your techniques."
"Yeah, I'll think about it. For now," he took her plate and put it into the sink, "don't let Iori get in your head. If he is sorry, he'll apologize and make it up to you. Don't let a guy like that get you down."
Fuuka nodded and got off of her chair. "Thank you, senpai. I'll do my best—I promise." She held up her pinkie finger, knowing that her brain and her heart were two separate beings who had different plans in mind for her.
Flash forward – October 6th
Shinjiro finally opened up his eyes, feeling as if Death took his body through Hell, and Heaven, Purgatory, and back to the living an infinite amount of times. He saw Minako and Ken sleeping in chairs by his bed.
So, I'm alive. ...!
He sat up slowly, seeing the nasty stitches and staples he had down by his waist, as he instantly thought of Fuuka. He looked around the room, noticing that no one else was in the room—must have been Mitsuru who gave him his own room that was big enough for two people to stay. Either that, or Fuuka was in worse shape than he was.
Shinjiro winced in pain, grunting loudly, as it woke up Minako from her light sleep. Her eyes grew as she felt her heart skipping a beat. "Shinjiro…!" She whispered as she moved towards his bed, scooting her chair closer. "…are you okay? Are you in pain?" She asked as Shinjiro nodded after pondering if he was in pain for a few seconds. "Should I…?"
He shook his head. "I'll be fine—just want to know about Fuuka. Is she…?"
Minako bit her lip as she reached for his hand, rubbing the top of his hand with her fingers. "She is alive. Barely, but the machines are helping her breathe, currently. The bullet was luckily intact, so it didn't do any more damage. The bullet nicked her aorta and superior vena cava, meaning that she had to go into surgery immediately." Minako slowly said as Shinjiro watched her lips and could barely pay attention. "Like, the bullet went in between the aorta and superior vena cava—we believed it was because of this—" Minako pulled out the pocket watch that was Shinjiro's in the first place.
Shinjiro felt his hand shake as he reached for it—the bullet left a nasty mark on the outer shell of the watch, but surprisingly, it was still ticking. "…shit—where did you find this?" He asked, showing that he was really not paying any attention at all.
"…Fuuka had it. It was in her pocket, in front of our uniform. She… …I think she was going to give this to you, but never had the time to."
Shinjiro carefully took the pocket watch out of her hand, his hands trembling with fear, relief, but heartache came in quickly as he felt tears escaping his eyes and stinging his eyes. He was silent, and so was Minako, as they just watch the tears fall.
"…would you like to see her? I'll…have to wheel you into her room—she's in the ICU." Minako suggested as Shinjiro gripped the pocket watch and swung his legs around, ready to walk to her room. "H-hey! Shinjiro-senpai!" Minako cried out as she could see him suffering a bit. After a couple minutes of telling him to hold his horses, she got him a wheelchair, sat him down in it, and took his morphine bag with him—after convincing the doctor that he'll be back in a moment. That seem to worn down Minako herself, but was determined to get Shinjiro to Fuuka.
"Now, before you see her, Fuuka… …you might get overwhelmed and surprised by how she looks. Her surgery took half a day as she lost a lot of blood." Minako wasn't trying to sugar coat everything, but the way Fuuka truly looked, it was a sight that would scare anyone, maybe Shinjiro would be terrified, if not sick to his stomach. "If you want to leave, you let me know, okay? I'll take you back down to your room."
Shinjiro nodded slowly, knowing that he wasn't probably going to be prepared for this. Minako stopped in front of her room, noting that Yukari and Junpei were outside—they didn't say much as Yukari held a tissue in her hand. Junpei lowered his hat over his eyes, trying to hide any emotions that appeared from his eyes—on top of Fuuka and Chidori in the same hospital, and for two different reasons, he was a bit of a mess.
Minako lightly tapped on the door. Within seconds, Akihiko came to the door, looking down to see Shinjiro, as he nodded slowly and let them both in. The moment he heard the monitors and saw the tubes, he wasn't surprised at how much attention she was getting, but how much room was taken up simply by the machines was a surprise. Shinjiro almost leaped out of his chair the moment he saw Fuuka's body—it made her look so much smaller, and weaker than before.
Mitsuru was observing Shinjiro carefully, to make sure he wasn't hurting himself either, as she turned to Minako. "If you would like, you may leave. Akihiko and I will stay and take care of them both, leader." Mitsuru suggested as Minako rubbed her arm.
"Y-yeah. I'll go get Ken-kun and head back to the dorm—I think he's exhausted." She murmured as she kissed the top of Shinjiro's head and left the room, sliding the door back in place. Once she left, the tension in the room seem to grow even more.
Shinjiro carefully reached for Fuuka's hand—he couldn't believe that just one little bullet could so much damage. He turned towards Mitsuru once he grabbed her hand and carefully held it. "…is she going to make it?" Shinjiro whispered as Mitsuru got up from her seat and sighed heavily.
"…I am hoping so. As for now, you two are out with your injuries. The best of the best operated on her—she made it through but now it'll only be a waiting game. They put her in a medically induced coma so her body can heal." Mitsuru explained as she looked at her chart. "She's steady in all departments—BP, pulse, oxygen levels, you name it. But--"
"…we are out a navigator, correct?" Shinjiro finished what she might be thinking. Mitsuru lowered her chart and stared at Shinjiro. "So, what? What the hell are we going to do?! We can't let Takaya get away with this-!"
Akihiko put his hand on Shinjiro's shoulder. "Shinji…"
"Sh-…shit…" He lowered his head and rubbed the top of her hand in small circles. "…my pocket watch saved her life—and I can't do shit for her!" Shinjiro cried out in pain as he felt the pocket watch gain some weight on his hospital gown pocket. He winced as Mitsuru crossed the room slowly and sat down on Fuuka's bed. She rubbed his back as he felt a tear escape the corner of his eye.
"Shinjiro. We won't let that happen—we will make sure that Takaya faces consequences. But, for now, you need rest. We all need rest. Baby steps, Shinjiro. That is what we will do." Mitsuru wasn't sure how to comfort someone like Shinjiro—it was odd, knowing that this was happening to someone whom they all counted on to help, no matter the situation.
Shinjiro nodded slowly, letting the words get absorbed into his brain. He laid his head on her bed, watching her chest move up and down slowly, as he closed his eyes. "Sorry. I seem to fuck things up, huh, Fuuka?" He whispered as Akihiko and Mitsuru moved away from them and sat in the corner, giving him some space.
…senpai… …do…ou….hear… ….me?
Shinjiro opened his eyes, quickly, thinking that Fuuka was calling out to him, but thought he was just hallucinating. He knew the medicine was ready to lull him to sleep. He closed his eyes once again, letting sleep pull him back into the depths.
… try… lling…out to… …me …my….sona…
He opened his eyes again, wondering if the others could hear it too. "Hey—" He turned around and saw Akihiko asleep on Mitsuru's shoulder as Mitsuru fell asleep on a pillow. "…so, that's a no…" Shinjiro whispered as he turned back to Fuuka, nothing changed except her oxygen levels getting higher, as he went back to sleep, making sure that nothing would wake him up this time. Next time, he'll sleep in his own bed. For now, being by Fuuka's side was the most important thing to him and the only way he could sleep while knowing she was still alive and breathing.
