I don't really understand when a usamerican person has "i refuse to vote, it's a broken system and i refuse to participate" and "call your reps about pale/stine now" sentiments both live on their blog at the same time. Fam how do you think the reps get there in the first place 🤔

hiii!! i love ur writing it’s absolutely adorable 🥹🫶 i was wondering if you could write something about riki & reader and maybe the reader is just a little older than him like a few months to a year? and they are very adamant on giving him his space especially since he has dealt with… so much from older fans. but riki rlly likes the reader and he’s frustrated because he doesn’t want her to think of him like a kid maybe 🤔 but reader likes him back she is just scared bc she feels like what if she makes him uncomfortable? but then it has a happy ending because they talk it out & jungwon helps them 😭🫶 totally understand if u don’t want to take this request! even if u don’t, it’s alright i love ur writing sm
kiss her you fool

pairing: idol!riki nishimura x idol!fem!reader, childhood bsf!yang jungwon x reader
synopsis: riki likes you. you like him. if the maths is right, you should be together. but riki left one variable unaccounted for. or in which riki must get to the bottom of why you are withholding your feelings for him if it's the last thing he does
warnings: reader is a year older, ANGST, mention of c-19, DISGUSTING OLD CREEPY FANS, mentions of sexual harassment, insecurity, problems of young debuting and discrimination, and crying, jealousy, swearing, appearance of riize's anton, riki being an absolute menace but a communication king 😤, romantic confessions, cringe but fluffy, proof-read before dinner soooo ☺️
word count: 2k+ library: enhypen bookshelf
author’s note: it's my first request 😭 i got youuuuuuu. i didn't mean for this to get so um well sappy and sad, got a bit carried away with the 'older fans' thing, but thank you so much for requesting! i hope this is up to par ♡︎ // song rec is titular but not really incorporated
Tumblr media
You had made a mistake.
A very big mistake.
Liking Riki Nishimura.
How exactly that happened... well almost four years ago now, in 2020.
The practical shut down of all things physical in the industry. No concerts, no fan meetings, no live performances, restricted filming... the entire world had gone quiet.
Yet, as humans had done since the dawn of time, there was adaptation. Online concerts that were pre-recorded and emphasised stage performances, masked filming with very few staff, well.. masked everything...
And in the midst of all of this, was I-LAND. The survival show that would form a new boy group. The same show that your childhood best friend, Yang Jungwon, was participating in. As his friend, former label mate, and a representative of BigHit, you were very enthusiastic, promoting the show when you could on your lives and consistently voting for him, producing the theme song, even coming on the last episode with your seniors.
Jungwon did it. He got first place. With almost 1.5 million votes. To withhold all your tears that day was a heavy task. You didn't want anyone to think that the votes had been manipulated due to your influence so you had kept a bit quiet about your relation to Jungwon. But you were just so proud.
People eventually found out soon though. Months before ENHYPEN was to debut with the claims that it just made sense that you two were childhood friends.
Along with him came six other people that you would soon make lifelong friends with, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Niki. You debuted quite early and despite being the youngest leader ever to debut and the maknae, friends were hard to come by (surprise surprise). So you welcomed these with open arms. Any friend of Jungwon was going to be a friend of yours.
You cherished all the members in their own ways but you couldn't lie and say Riki wasn't special to you. He reminded you of yourself. So young yet so passionate. Furthermore, he was Japanese. Living in a foreign country by yourself at such at such as young age... it had to be tough.
So in a way, you took him in. By that you meant your mother had basically accepted him as her son and you took care of him as if you were his older sister. You helped him with his Korean, your mother invested into learning Japanese cuisine so he didn't feel too homesick, always sending you with tiffins of food to the company or to the dorm, you stayed by him during the tough times... you made sure that he never felt alone, even for a second. You promised him.
The thing about debuting so young was that it often attracted the wrong type of people. You had gone through it and were still going through it despite turning twenty soon. Older fans... they seemed to love you. Especially, older men. From shouting your name loudly and asking for cute poses at fan signs to genuinely asking to marry you and specifically positioning their cameras at a certain angle to capture under your skirt... It was beyond you.
And Riki was going through the same thing, primarily with older women. Asking to marry him, seeing him shirtless, inappropriate fan fiction... the list of crazy was endless.
But your group and especially ENHYPEN wasn't having any of it. You all tried to the best of your ability to protect Riki but it just never seemed to stop. There were just so many weird people out there. It was infuriating.
You stuck to your promise. You made sure Riki felt safe and you could tell it was working. He was always honest with you, at his most vulnerable. He could share anything with you and he'd feel comfortable. You were the one person closest to him, there was no doubt about it.
But then you had to fuck it up. You got feelings.
You didn't realise it at first. But by the end of last year, you were sure. The long hugs, the stares that lasted a second more than they should've, Riki's abrupt clinginess... all of the mundane things were suddenly making you flustered and open the opportunity to having arrhythmia with all your fluctuating heartbeats.
You weren't sure what to do. It terrified you. How were you any different from the older fans? Well, of course there was a difference. But that year difference between the both of you... it was imposing.
So you did the only thing that made any sense to you. You gave him space.
Tumblr media
You thought the space you were giving wasn't too obvious. You just wanted Riki to feel lighter and free.
But he noticed.
Immediately.
Riki noticed your wide smiles were now brief, the fewer texts you shared, the pathetic excuses you made to not hang out as much, the way you never sat with him to eat your mom's food... that the space you gave him was also physical given that you no longer sat right next to him but opted to sit diagonal to him (that way you weren't invading him too much).
Riki wasn't the type to beat around the bush. He directly confronted you. A trait that came naturally to him but was only furthered by the ever so direct Jungwon.
When you told him that you just wanted to give him a bit of space, given that he was older now and the whole plight of dealing with his 'fans'... Riki was in turmoil.
On one hand, an ever small part of him was touched that you cared so much. Not that was a surprise. You had the biggest heart he had ever seen.
But for the most part, he was frustrated. See, the thing was... he liked you too. A lot. Maybe too much for a normal human. It wasn't that you took care of him like a sister (if anything that combination would've made him throw up), but it was just you.
You entirely made him like you. Before he debuted, Riki was a big fan of you. He admired your work and passion, especially for as someone as young as you. Not to mention, he's pretty sure that you're the prettiest person in the entire universe. Never did he think he'd actually meet you. But then you visited I-LAND, twice. Once for the theme song and second for the last episode. And Riki was in awe of you. He couldn't believe it!
But that was nothing in comparison to finding out that he was debuting with ENHYPEN, a group that so happened to have Jungwon, your childhood best friend, and would often meet you to have their songs produced and composed.
And then you took him in.
He remembered it like it was yesterday. Heck, he could never forget it even if he tried.
You found Riki head down, crying alone in the dance practice room and you were immediately by his side. He was having an internal crisis.
It had been a few months since he had debuted and everything was going so well. ENHYPEN was popular. But his Korean was barely up to par, he couldn't keep up with everything that was going on, it was fuzzy in his head, people were commenting on his ethnicity and his looks in ways that discriminated him, he missed authentic Japanese food, he missed his annoying sisters, he missed his dad, his mom... he missed home. God, in that moment, he just wanted to go home.
You sat next to him, listening to all his worries quietly. By the time he was finished, he looked up at you with puffy red eyes that made your heart ache and apologised for burdening you with his problems.
He actually apologised.
For a moment, you were speechless.
So being an experienced person (well a year by age and a few more by career), you did what anyone else would do. Well, you hoped.
You wiped the remaining tears off of his face with your thumb and held his hands with yours. You looked him directly in the eye and told him, "You having nothing to be sorry about, Riki-ah. This... this is all normal to feel. To some extent, I know how you feel. I promise you that you'll get through this. I'll be by your side the entire time, hmm? I'm won't leave you alone. I promise."
With that, you brought him into a hug that he reciprocated. And this was the very moment Riki began to have feelings for you. After all of that and with everything you had done for him, how could he not like you?
Tumblr media
Riki's frustration was beginning to peak. Ever since you told him you were giving him space, he had decided to the complete opposite. He was going to be up in your business 24 fucking 7 (if he could).
If you were going to sit away him, Riki would make his hyungs move so he could sit right next to you.
You were too far from him? He'd drag your chair close to him.
Your poor text response rate? Unannounced, Riki would walk into the room, rest his head on your lap, and scroll through TikTok, showing you all the videos he found funny.
But he needed to up his game. They say that flirting is a mastery of sort. It takes time, skill, finesse, if you will. Riki, however, is a fast learner.
"Cute hoodie, noona. But you'd look better in mine."
Backstage, you found him waiting outside your dressing room, on his phone. You sighed, shaking your head. "You're a living nightmare, Riki. You know that?"
Riki looked up from his phone, a smirk tugging away at his lips. His eyes grinned at you with their hanging lids. "So you do dream about me? That's nice to know."
When you gave him your most miffed expression, a soft laugh fell from his lips. "You look so cute when you're mad, noona."
The other time you were at HYBE cafeteria. You had finally given into your stomach's needs after slugging away for hours at a song. You spotted a nice yellow iced cupcake... it was calling your name. Just as you went to pick it up, Riki's hand intervened. His fingers brushed against yours, making you immediately retract your fingers. "R-Riki... yah, I was going to get that."
"I know," Riki said, amused by your flustered expression. "I'm going to get it for you."
Then came RIIZE's Anton. An idol who happened to be the same age, also produced music, also spoke English, had the most softest voice known to mankind, devilishly handsome, tall without stupid vitamins... and happened to be shipped heavily with you by everyone and their mother.
Also known as: Riki's worst enemy.
You were both coming out of the studio when Riki had caught the both of you on the way. From how he saw things, he didn't like it one bit. He didn't like the eye-smile Anton had when he looked at you nor did he like the smile you had at the poor joke he had cracked.
Hands shoved in his pockets, Riki stopped in front of you, interrupting your conversation. "Oh, hey, noona."
"Hmm? Oh, hey, Riki. Anton, this is–"
Completely ignoring the Boston-born but moved to New Jersey whatever-the-fuck guy, Riki just smiled at you. "Noona, you look so pretty today. What's the occasion? Me?"
You went home and screamed in your pillow that day (and apologised profusely to Anton (he said it was okay because anyone with a single brain cell could tell you and Riki were close)).
You had had enough.
The next day you had stomped into the dance practice room with Riki and Jungwon following after you because you had met them just as you were entering. Closing the door, you turned to your childhood friend who was placing his bag down.
With one hand pointing to Riki, "Tell him to stop it."
Jungwon raised a brow, looking at you incredulously. "Stop... what exactly?"
"I– stop... stop this," You stressed when Riki shuffled closer to you.
Jungwon looked at you helplessly. He knew how you felt. But he also know how Riki felt. In fact, he was the one who suggested him to be more obvious with his feelings... resulting in this. Clearly, Riki had misunderstood being obvious with being a bit more invasive. Probably, Jungwon's fault... What you two needed to do was communication.
Just as Jungwon opened his mouth again, he watched you push Riki so he stood a metre away from you. "Stay over there."
So much for communication.
Riki pursed his lips, pretending to ponder your suggestion. He took a step closer to you. "But I want to be next to you."
Your eye twitched in frustration. "Riki!" You cried out, balling your fists around the invisible air with annoyance. "Can't you just stop? I told you... you need space. With everything that's being going on for three years... I'm worried about you."
All the humour that was sported by Riki had disappeared in the matter of seconds. He chewed down on his lip, eyes darting around the room, registering what you had just said. He sucked in a sharp breath. "I'm not a kid, noona. Not anymore. I'm older. I have thoughts. and... I have feelings too."
You blinked, letting out an exasperated sigh. "I know but... I just... I just wanted you to gave some space. Some time to think for yourself as a person. It's important for you."
Riki's tongue poked the inside of his cheek. His eyes fell to you, meeting your tired gaze directly. "You said you'd never leave me alone."
Your eyes suddenly softened at his words while your heart ached. "Riki-ah, I'm not–"
"You promised, noona," Riki whispered, a flash of hurt crossing him. He took a step closer while you took another back. "You're afraid of something."
You furrowed your brows. "W-What? I'm not afraid–" You started to defend yourself but Riki cut you off again, not heeding to the warnings Jungwon was calling out.
"No, you are. What are you so afraid of, noona? Tell me... we can fix together. This time I'll help you," Riki persuaded, still inching towards you.
"Riki," You breathed out. God, you were a mess. All you emotions were everywhere. You didn't know what to think... what to say. "Why are you making this so difficult?"
Riki's hands stretched out, encasing yours with his. "I'm not making anything difficult. I think you're just in denial. In denial that I really like you. In denial that you like me just as much."
Your heart skipped a beat at the sudden confrontation. The guard you had built for the past few weeks had come flying down after taking every hit from Riki. "I... I don't wont you to feel uncomfortable," You confessed, "I don't won't you to feel pressured because I'm older than you... because of everything we've done together."
"Noona, I–" Riki's shoulders fell at your admission. God, the fact you were even thinking of that was entirely disheartening. "I don't feel pressured at all. You could never make me feel uncomfortable. I– you're the only person in the universe who actually makes me feel comfortable. No offence, hyung."
Jungwon raised his hands, gesturing his acceptance and dismissal at the same time.
Riki kept his eyes on you, hands tightening around yours. "I'm grateful for everything you've done for me but that's not the only reason I like you. I wish you could see yourself the way I see you. You might not know it but you welcome everyone with open arms, the most beautiful woman I know, but don't tell my mom that, you're so smart, hardworking, caring... you make me want to be a better person. You make me happy, noona."
You blinked rapidly. Were you dreaming right now? Was this a prank of some sort? You removed your hands from Riki's, using the tips of your fingers to pinch your skin of your wrist. A small yelp slipped past your mouth.
Riki jumped slightly, startled. His hands immediately returned to yours, gently rubbing the affected area. "Noona," He chuckled, "This is real. All of it's real. My feelings for you are real."
"Just making sure," You laughed softly before sighing. A wave of heat washed over you and your mouth felt dry. What were you to say now? How do you respond to something so silly yet so valid?
"You can just say you like me, noona," Riki said, eyes beaming down at you in amusement.
Of course you had said that out loud.
You sucked in a sharp breath, slowly exhaling. "I... I like you, Riki," You mumbled.
Riki narrowed his eyes. "I can't hear you," He teased, grinning from ear to ear.
"Nope, nope." You retracted your hands. "I take it back. I'm taking it back... right now."
Riki laughed, reaching out for your hand, only to pull you into a hug. He lifted you gently, spinning you around with pure happiness rushing into his brain.
"Riki," You cried out, "I'm going to feel sick," You said, even though a full blown smile was on your face.
"It's okay," He retorted back, slowly coming to a stop and putting you back on the floor. "If you do..." His hand darted out to push back your hair behind your ear. "I'll take care of you. I promise."
After a brief minute, Riki turned to the empty area where Jungwon once stood. "Where did hyung go?"
"I think he left after you said I was beautiful," You cooed.
A flush of red tinted Riki's ears and cheeks. He folded his arms, getting defensive. "I... Well... it's true!"

Thoughts. okay so the total drama drama drama drama island special is interesting mainly bc of team e-scope but im going to take a moment here to ramble about his dynamic with other people here,,
(oh and i didn't have anywhere really to slot it into the other post or segue into it here but dodgebrawl as a Moment demonstrates how [this AU] noah can play the social game, just in a very very different way than how it's normally seen.
he knows what he's doing is going to bother his team and incentivize them to vote, i'd say in this au he even plays up the cockiness and makes veiled personal slights against specific people
(mainly those who would be annoyed enough to vote him off, see: heather, justin, leshawna, cody/trent to some extent if he said smth about gwen? < and gwen herself in that scenario. and to another extent beth, since hes playing up his outright mean traits, which would make lindsay vote with her. i dont think he would do anything specific to/with owen or izzy, since he may see izzy as too volatile and owen too genuine)
in the opposite way of whats expected, sure, but it is a social play. he can pick apart what these people are and what they show and push at it to achieve his own ends (and maybe its even some sort of way for him to regain control in this fundamentally uncontrollable situation he's found himself in; he can be the punishment in foucalt's imagining, to a much smaller degree))
so his teammates,,, do not like him tbh. his flagrant display during dodgeball and everyone being pissed at him after the fact is true in this AU, just coming with different motivations. even after the fact when the frustration of everyone fizzles out, hes still majorly offputting because of his detachedness, and deliberately makes his shown traits very unpalatable to experience in person combined with that.
the only two exceptions are izzy and owen respectively: owens mostly coming from a place of genuineness and im going to say while he wouldnt be able to verbalize it, in some manner owen would clock noahs behavior as a defense mechanism. maybe in the sense of 'hes just scared to open up to people!!' or something similar, but he definitely has a lot more faith that noah really isnt that cold and flat.
[*]izzy feels much the same -- except maybe it comes off more to her as strategic. izzy can act, and might recognize that in noah. if you wanted to you could write this in as to why she was eager to swap teams in the first episode, but it wouldnt change that he does get eliminated and thats all she sees of him until the special -- which, her intrigue in his lacking and the fact that it apparently wasnt strategic to get him further in the game, could help explain why she picks him in the team-up.
[*i have soooo much to say about izzy in this au actually. but ill save it for a diff post]
and speaking of the team-up: team e-scope!!!! :0
my au my rules eva and izzy became really good friends on the playa; izzy isn't afraid of eva (and curbing her anger before it reaches a boiling point) and eva is physically adept enough to restrain izzy from Shenanigans that might be a little Much. but eva doesnt really?? know anything about noah?? but izzy insists on teaming with him for the special (and unbeknownst to her noah wasnt even planning to participate initially) so he must be some level of Not Too Bad if izzy wants anything to do with him that doesnt seem to be related to tormenting the guy
and she thinks hes Fine. apathetic and detached and unpalatable (but then again, everyone in their little trio really is to some degree), but can kind of understand izzys intrigue: hes still A Guy, hes just hidden behind 20 layers of non-substance that are so offputting from the first meeting it makes people steer clear of him.
now with tddddi comes two other pertinent details: the justin line, and the Thing With Duncan.
i personally thing noahs 'he's the anti-me' line is really funny in the context of canon but if you squint it kinda works here? wherein justin is non-speaking yet flaunts himself to be the center of attention and clearly shows intent and capacity to scheme (underdeveloped or no, see: awakeathon), whereas noah speaks a lot yet lets himself fade into the background, showing vague hints of the capacity to scheme but no intention or palpable ambition behind it.
^ am i reaching? maybe. the other option here is noah somehow has seen him in-person before on a modeling or red carpet kind of gig and dislikes him on principle because of it/its a jab at it (smth smth they are both opposite ends of the same industry? justin is the face of it in a manner where noah stays behind the scenes and out of sight)
and the thing with duncan,, hear me out here okay noah does his whole song and dance, goes up to him and patronizes him, and duncan retaliates. however, he curses like a sailor and in noah's head has ruined the footage, therefore instead of further retaliating and potentially invoking actual physical harm he just. doesnt react. at all. duncan looks up at him and hes just dead-eyed staring down at him -- and then he leaves.
^ the scene has been ruined, and everyone else is doing so much that theres no reason to play it up any more. duncan and him arent plot important like how heather and lindsay were, theres no reason for the crew to painstakingly edit his swearing out. they just wont let it reach the final cut. duncan is understandably very confused by this, but at that point noah was already gone to find eva and izzy again (< this is when the cast having a running bet that noahs and android becomes Not a Joke)
but life goes on!!! and in the worlds worst comedy of errors (for noah), izzy ends up dragging him along into the lake, thereby leaving him as a confirmed member of the next season.
^ noah is so angry at this. popping blood vessels. he argues with chris endlessly, straight frothing at the mouth at only having two days of real reprieve before he has to deal with the Same Shit again. and chris gets this, to some degree, but also knows that if theres no explanation for noahs non-appearance to hand the producers, theyll be pissed (since all things considered, noahs pretty damn popular among the fans)
luckily for him, courtney just filed a lawsuit against the show!! and since chris is busy running said show, the producers do not want to deal with it and are willing to hand off the case to anyone else -- hence, chris officially signs noah on as his PA, and noah takes over the court settlements and whatnot.
< though i do imagine the producers would see it as a 'get out of the show' scheme, and thereby push way harder for his involvement in WT as a result
but noah does get a break!!! for now, at least.

my mother, bless her soul, is a genuinely good person who has literally saved many lives, but she does not understand what internalized bigotry is.
like she'll say "i'm so glad you kids didn't turn out to be racist" and I'll try to explain why that's wrong (i am racist, actually, and worse, i am racist in ways i don't recognize because i was so smothered in racism by my culture that there are parts of me that are racist but don't register as racist to myself when i think those thoughts or do those things, and the MOST important part of changing that about myself is knowing that it's true) but she just doesn't get it
so i'll have conversations like that one i just had, where she's like "i don't mind gay people" (which is true, right, she is totally good with gay people when they are a human person in front of her existing as a human who is gay) "BUT i don't like how all the TV shows i watch are turning into shows that are basically all gay people now".
smh. Like, c'mon ma, i know you're better than this. Be better than this.
and i was like "okay name a show" and she named a law enforcement show (whole other problem) and i was like "how many main characters are there" and she was like "about twelve" and i was all "okay probably about half of them are men?" and she was all "yeah" and i'm like "okay the, whatever, chief character, that's probably a man right, is he straight or gay" and she was like "straight" and i was like "alright and there's probably a tough guy character is he straight or gay" and he was straight and we established that it was half straight guys and half gay guys
so then she's like "but i don't like how in my face it is there's all these sex scenes" and i was like "okay so the sex senes are all gay sex?" and she's like "no but there's so much sex now and these shows used to be about the who done it and the action" and i'm like "okay so your issue is there's just, too much sex in the show" and she's like "yeah!" and i was all "okay so that's not a gay issue that's a sexual content issue, you should probably not conflate those two things" and she was like "but there's so much gay stuff" ...
(please keep in mind this is a woman who would take in a gay runaway cousin without a second thought, votes for candidates that support gay rights, etc, she really is a mostly good person, she's just a product of her generation and doesn't understand things like intersectionalism and internalization or see how problematic this point of view she's having is)
anyway we go round and round like this and she's getting more and more agitated because she wants to say she's bothered by gay lifestyles being featured on TV shows she likes, but she doesn't want to admit that this is a homophobic reaction, and since it's impossible to say those two contradictory positions are simultaneously true i'm easily making it impossible for her to justify.
Finally when i can tell she's had enough and will take any out offered, i tell her "i'm just saying, it can be easy to feel like a normal amount of gay representation is an unreasonable amount when what you are used to is none." and walked out the door. Hopefully that gets through to her.
But it's frustrating how many fundamentally good people there are who are still part of the problem because they've spent so long equating bigotry to pure evil that they can't contemplate the possibility that they, a good person, have bigoted thoughts and reactions to things.
And it's difficult to keep having these conversations (which i feel are necessary to have if we are to change as a society) when every time you try to explain it they react like you are calling them literally Evil Bad People.
but you gotta. you just gotta

Total Drama: Alejandro realizing his crush
Request: "Hi, can you do some headcanons with Alejandro (total Drama) starting to fall in love with y/n for the first time ever. Like when talking to the camera, talking about his crush then realising." by @ali-simpp
💗Masterlist | WIP Page
Tumblr media
Alejandro was ready to completely focus on winning Total Drama World Tour with his master plan.
He was charming, stealthy, and smart.
One thing he did not account for was how frustratingly amazing you are.
Alejandro didn't notice it at first, but it sort of snuck up on him little by little.
Being on the plane together, Alejandro found you to be one of the only individuals that he could really stand.
Hell, even enjoy being around.
The first hint that Alejandro was getting a little comfortable with you was when you were injured during a challenge and he helped you during the entire challenge.
Noah immediately knew something was up, as he's never seen Alejandro so concerned about the wellbeing of anyone else besides himself thus far.
Team Chris soon realized that teasing Alejandro was like playing with fire.
"I do not like (Y/N)." Alejandro said to the confessional, crossing his arms over his chest. "This is nothing more than some childish rumor to damage my reputation and (Y/N)'s. Noah has no class."
You didn't notice right away, but as time went on Alejandro start to pull away from you more and more.
Then there were times where he was downright avoiding you.
"(Y/N) seemed rather upset today. Though, I guess that I can not blame them. I have not been acting totally honest or respectable towards them lately. I just-" Alejandro sighed, "I just can not afford any distractions right now. Trying to outwit Heather is enough without (Y/N) taking away my attention." He paused, eyes widening at what he had insinuated with his confession.
"Are you okay?" You asked, stopping Alejandro in the hallway between First Class the the Confessional.
"Of course, (Y/N). That last challenge was difficult, yes? Chris is really mak-"
"Was it strategy?"
"-ing it difficult." Alexandro finished, "What?"
"Strategy, Alejandro." You said.
"(Y/N), I have no idea what you're talking about. I have been nothing but kind and friendly tow-"
"Please, do not bullshit me." You said, "I've talked to both Noah and Heather about you and they are pretty fucking sure that I am your next target." You sighed, "At first, I thought that they were messing with me, but after the past few days, I can't help but think that they're right. You've been ignoring me and being a real ass."
"If that were true, I would hardly think that I would shut you out, (Y/N)."
"I don't know. All I know is that you are all mind games and shit," You paused, "And I am so over it."
"(Y/N), I can expl-"
"Whatever this is, I want no part of it. Okay?" You said, Y'know I thought that we were becoming friends. I guess I should have known better."
"(Y/N), wait."
"Good luck, Alejandro. You're gonna need it."
He wasn't going to lie, but he was upset.
Not that he'd give anyone else the satisfaction of witnessing that.
He knew that this was his own fault, but he did what he had to do for the sake of the game.
Cutting you off before you got too close was a smart move, which is why he planned to get you voted off next, like he had with LeShawna, Harold, and Bridgette.
Unlike those times, he did not enjoy watching you jump off the plane.
"I-" For once, Alejandro was at a loss for words, as the ache in his stomach from guilt grew, deepening his pain. He took a deep breath, frustrated at his lack of composure. "(Y/N) truly will be missed. I will dedicate my game to them." He said, suddenly remembering the camera that was watching his every move in the confessional.
Watching his breakdown and not act like his charming confident self.
I will miss them immensely and will suffer this crushing pain. Alejandro wanted to say.
But a million is too much to pass up over a crush. He's sure that once the show is over, you will understand.
Or at least, that's what he's telling himself will he waits for the finale to come.

how does the tribe journey in po3 go in your rewrite? ive struggled to hell and back tryna justify it in my own
You know how a lot of Warrior Cat fans have a specific moment that stuck out to them in a painful way, and they'd pick over that incident in their minds over and over? That was me and the tribe journey. So I'm very proud of how I reworked it-- I hope this helps you too
Pre-Rogue Set Up
First of all, it was very important to me to make sure the Tribe never loses their autonomy.
The Tribe is an equal culture to The Clans, with a cultural advantage in hunting and spirituality. In contrast, Clan cats have an advantage in combat and battle tactics.
But they still can defend themselves from threats; see how Sharptooth is now a supernatural force they killed three times historically.
So even before the rogue invasion, as far back as TNP, the Clans have a more fleshed-out relationship to the Tribe.
They rested with the Tribe for a longer period of time during the Great Journey, plus a few medics and hunters accompanied the Clans to the Lake to helped them get set up in unfamiliar territory.
THE TRIBE CATS are the ones who ASK the Clan cats for help.
Stormfur and Brook were never exiled for suggesting they fight the rogues. Of course not.
The Tribe is now democratic. They voted to ask for help. Stoneteller is only a religious figure; not a political one.
The Clan cats are taken aback by this, because they don't admit weakness without great humiliation. My entire narrative is set up to point this out as a Bad Thing which is reckoned with over many arcs.
The last part of my Big Redux Post says it all imo;
Clan Cat: “Why even ask for help if you have it covered?“
Tribe Cat: “...why would we not? We could just wait, but we’d have to hunt twice as hard on the rest of our land, and we don’t want them to suffer and die over several months either if you can just help us send them on their way.“
The Tribe cats COULD wait them out all on their own, and kill Flick's Rogues over a long battle of attrition but... that's not what Tribe cats do. They ask for help; that's what family does.
Battle for the Tribe
Narratively, there's two goals I have with this journey.
For the young cats to understand the trauma their parents went through. The Three plus Breezepaw were born at the lake, and have no understanding of what it was like to lose their home. It doesn't click for them what a Clan is really supposed to be, nor do they totally understand their history. In particular I want there to be moments where Hollyleaf grapples with homesickness, realizing that if they fail that is what the Tribe cats will feel every day, and having a sharp moment of empathy when she sees her mentor Brackenfur looking longingly towards the far side of the mountain.
To treat the Tribe culture as something that needs to be protected By the very structure of their society, Clan culture is xenophobic and raises its warriors to not value outsiders. Each of the four apprentices going on this journey are going to have various feelings in realizing the differences between this culture and their own. But by the end, ALL of the apprentices conclude that there's nothing wrong about these cats, they make friends and learn to appreciate their way of living, throwing their claws towards defending their kin.
-I will be fleshing out several Tribe cats. Stormfur and Brook's first litter, Lark and Pine, are getting shuffled up in age to be major characters and friends of Lionpaw and Breezepaw
From a cursory thought, I'm thinking that Lark is extremely enthusiastic, and Pine is more reserved.
The frustrating and pointless Tribe visit of the OotS arc is getting eliminated completely. Swoop, Splash, and Crag are part of THIS conflict instead.
For Lionblaze's shortened arc, this is the climactic character beat. This is the moment where it finally clicks that the point of having strength is using it to protect others, not just serving your own ends.
(this isn't necessarily perfect development; this is the impulse that causes him to shove his daughters, Dovewing and Ivypool, into harm's way.)
For Breezepaw, this section is important for showing the person he's capable of being, in a more supportive environment. AVoS is his redemption arc but I think it's important to establish his courage and righteousness here, before he even has his villain arc in OotS.
Jaypaw I'm less sure about; but I do know that Longtail is coming on this journey and replacing Brambleclaw, who needs to stay home to be the acting deputy in Brackenfur's absence.
I'm thinking this makes an excellent beat for Jaypaw's "Fight God" arc. The spirituality of the Tribe is casual and decentralized, and he's fighting a bitterness that he can't both be a warrior AND a medcat. The Tribe teaches him it doesn't have to be this way, but it is, and Jay has Big Feelings about that.
Big enough feelings for him to attack a StarClan warrior

“You didn’t turn off your location!” You roll your eyes. Of course the first thing he didn’t do was turn off his location. “I have Samsung!”
“I have a Samsung too!” So you all see the text between JJ and Singh. Your eyes widened at this one text.
‘I want you to bring Ms. Jewel.”
Well shit.
“Ask him why!” You exclaimed.
“Alright! Alright!” JJ typed and typed.
“You’re such a slow typer.”
“Shut up Y/N! Ok he said ‘I want to see her’ that’s some pedo shit.”
“Shut up Jay! Ok do like a trade in thing. Like I want her for her type shit.”
Pope did not like that idea one bit.
“What? No I’m not letting you do that.”
You roll your eyes and everyone can feel your frustration. He said he was done with you and he has the audacity to care now. You are not letting that bullshit slide.
You turned to him and he sees the look on your face. “I thought you were ‘done’ why do you care?” He was silent searching for an answer. “You’re still my friend Y/N.” You scoff. “Bullshit!”
“Ok lets not do this right now. We have someone who wants to see you and he’s coming here in-.” John B checks his broken watch. “Five minutes!”
You both look at that ground like children getting scolded.
_____
You guys set up traps around the abandoned building and it worked. Singh was now looking for you and you never got Kiara.
So it was totally worth it.
“We need to get her back!” JJ was now going crazy that we didn’t get Kie back. Which is a lot of emotion for someone ‘you like platonically’ or so he says.
“Jay you need to calm down. We’re going to get her back.” Now he was just pacing back and forth, mumbling different plans to get her back.
You can see in the corner of your eye Pope staring at you. You roll your eyes again and you are about to say something but you hear a boat.
It’s Kie.
“Jay” You pointed behind him. He turned around and saw her. They ran up to each other then everyone went to them except you and Pope. You both look at each other. He can tell you miss him and you can tell he misses you.
“Can we talk?” He turned to you and nodded. He went on the boat and you followed.
_____
“They almost kissed?!” Pope just told you that he saw JJ and Kie almost kissed. He nodded. “I obviously don’t care but it’s the-.” “Principle.” You both say it at the same time and looked at each other.
You really miss him even though you broke up only like two hours ago.
“But I understand it is pretty weird since he knows y’all history. You want me to talk to him?”
“No it’s fine I really don’t care.” He shakes his head.
“I’m sorry.” You both say at the same time again.
“You can go first-no you should-.”
You both laugh.
“Can I go?” You turned to him. He nods and does a ‘speak now’ motion. You laugh again. That’s the first thing you liked about Pope. His humor.
“I just want to start by saying you’re right. As much as I hate to say it but you are Pope. I don’t think about my actions and I almost died several times while doing so. And I’m sorry.”
He went up to me and put my hands in his. I looked up at him with a dreamy look.
“I am so sorry with being so stupid. The plan was actually really good. I just don’t want to lose you at least not this early. I love you and I really appreciate you. I just don’t want you to lose your life over something stupid. And I didn’t mean anything I said.”
“So you’re not done with me?”
“Not even one bit.”
You put your arms around his neck and he put his hands on your waist.
“I love you too Popesicle.” He leans in and you smile in the kiss.
You’re going to be more careful next time.

WQAU Jayfeather and Jay's Wing
As I mentioned in my Hollyclaw post, Jayfeather is going through some weird time travel possession stuff during po3/oots and I thought that Jayfeather's time torture deserved its own post.
So Jaypaw is first sent back in time into Jay's Wing's body during Outcast instead of Long Shadows, and instead of Jaypaw walking into the tunnels in the present and out of the tunnels in the past, Rock basically triggers a stroke in Jaypaw's mind, leaving him malliable enough to mentally transport temporarily into the body of Jay's Wing, who was in the tunnels at the time. Jaypaw does not consent to this by the way.
Jay's Wing is not Jayfeather's previous incarnation, he's just some poor dude that Rock picked out of convinience. Jaypaw possessing Jay's Wing's body essentially tears both of their minds apart and patchworks them back together, with parts of the other cat's brain thrown in for good measure.
Instead of The Ancients leaving solely due to prey shortage, Furled Bracken (who is now the equivalent to a Stone Teller) has a vision of the sun disappearing from the sky a few days after Jay's Wing emerges from the tunnels. The Ancients immediately decide to cast stone about what the fuck they should do and Jay's wing ends up as the deciding vote. He chooses to leave after realizing that these cats are the ancestors of The Tribe of Rushing Water.
Also this wasn't just one clean trip, Jaypaw was there for about a week total, but every day or so was being dragged back to Thunderclan for brief spurts of consciousness before Rock gave him another stroke, desperately trying to keep Jaypaw back with The Ancients.
So when Jaypaw returns from this experience, it's easy to say he's been completely rewired. Leafpool tells him that he's been unconscious for a whole quarter moon and Jaypaw tells her everything.
Leafpool freaks out a bit and that's why she was so quick to drive Sol out later in the book.
Every aspect of Jaypaw's mind has bits missing, bits out of place, bits that were never there to begin with. Jaypaw is increasingly frustrated that everything about himself has been tainted and replaced, he doesn't know what parts were Jay's Wing and which parts are him, and to make things worse the whole clan notices immediately that Jaypaw is not the cat he was before his stroke and they start walking on eggshells around him.
Jaypaw takes weeks to physically recover enough to leave the camp (regaining awareness, relearning movement and balance, figuring out how to understand what anyone is saying ever, etc.) but he's never going to recover mentally from his brief time as Jay's Wing.
But wait! There's more! During Omen of the Stars, when Jayfeather is with The Tribe (this is the first time we've travelled back to them since The New Prophey in the WQAU), Rock comes to him for the first time in years and tells him that "he's sorry to do this again", and triggers another stroke, sending Jayfeather back into Jay's Wing's body. Instead of being frequently pulled back to the present, he stays continuously in Jay's Wing's body for days, and he begins to think that he's trapped forever.
So with the thought that "oh I guess I'm never seeing my friends and family again" Jay's Wing allows himself to fall for Half Moon, while also helping The Ancients sort out their inner conflict about leaving the mountains (also he's not the one to teach them everything about their own culture that's dumb as shit in canon).
Jay's Wing sees the spirit of Rock in the cave and Rock tells him that his time is up with The Ancients, Jay's Wing is furious, ripping into Rock for splicing his mind when he was just a child and for destroying every part of himself that he thought he knew.
Rock apologizes again and tells Jay's Wing that the reason his stay has been continuous this time is because his body as Jayfeather is too weak to drag his mind back, if Jay's Wing stays here, Jayfeather will die. Rock says that Jay's Wing cannot be sustained if Jayfeather dies and he wishes he didn't have to put Jayfeather though everything that's happened to him.
Jay's Wing pleads for just a few minutes to say goodbye, and Rock melts into the shadows to let Jay's Wing make his peace. He tells Half Moon that his destiny lies somewhere else, and if he got the choice, he would choose to bring her with him. Half Moon becomes the Stoneteller and Jayfeather returns to his body, still in The Tribe's cave.
Although he only has one stroke this time, his mind is totally spliced with Jay's Wing. He can't walk and has to be carried home the whole way, and when he returns to Shadowclan, he asks Blackstar for permission to retire once he trains an apprentice to replace him (Flameflower/Flametail of course drowned before Jayfeather came to Shadowclan and Littlecloud probably couldn't handle the whole clan by himself), and Blackstar agrees, promising him an apprentice from the next litter born (that cat ends up being Ryeheart/Grassheart).
That's all I have to say about Jayfeather's time travel stuff for now, he's got other stuff going on unrelated to this, but this is just covering the Jay's Wing stuff.
Anyways ty for reading and if you have any requests or questions relating to the WQAU just send an ask ^^

one other reason that i think communism is more successful in different times and places besides others--besides the propensity to militarization i mean--is that it is a different toolkit which is best suited to a different set of problems. and this is both my frustration with dismissive communists and dismissive anti-communists. like, there are problems of politics in 1910s Russia or 1930s China that all the electoral politics in the world would not solve--for one, because these were not functional electoral democracies. and if you are a political actor interested in modifying the political system to produce more just outcomes, some other kind of action, nonviolent or violent, is going to be required. and considering that a lot of the contexts in which communist movements have militarized have been ones in which their opponents were also militarizing, the fact that they resorted to violent tactics isn’t a unique pathology of communism, it’s a marker of a pathology already widespread in the political environment in question
(that doesn’t vindicate any and all violent tactics--to say nothing of violence which continued even once power was one--and in fact i don’t think it necessarily vindicates violence at all. political violence seems strategically risky and morally dangerous to me even in the most black and white conflicts. but we should at least try to properly understand its historical context and causes without simply assuming everybody we disagree with was a total moral monster (some no doubt really were). i guess this paragraph is just a plea for nuance?)
but the problem of how to make the political and economic system of 2020s western europe, or the united states, fairer is different again from the same problem in 1910s russia or 1930s china, and the frustrating thing about a lot of communists and communist rhetoric is that they have this 1910s-russia-shaped hammer (in the case of marxist-leninists) or 1930s-china-shaped hammer (in the case of maoists) and everything looks to them like an appropriately shaped nail. and sure, they will come up with their elaborate theoretical justifications for why actually these things all map on to basically the same political categories that were relevant back then, and sometimes they will belatedly make minor updates, but like. electoral politics is clearly effective at getting things done in liberal democracies. you might not like it, but you can in fact substantially change people’s material circumstances by building coalitions and winning office and passing laws. and sure that option wasn’t available back when russia was ruled by a tsar, and saying “we should vote about it” in countries ruled by dictators who routinely win 103% of the vote is probably not gonna get you anywhere. but they were nationalizing industries in Britain under Clement Attlee and ending segregation under Lyndon Johnson! they didn’t build a perfect communist utopia--but neither did the Bolsheviks, and they had 70 years of uncontested supreme power, and were a superpower to boot.

I'm rewatching the end of TMA before TMAGP comes out tomorrow and I have a lot of thoughts about the interdimentional trolley problem:
The thing is I always belived Jon was right - I even consider the fact that there is more stories to be told in this multiverse it's another proof things got worse because of them - but I used to think the others were wrong for the right reasons and Jon was right for the wrong. And while I understand everyone's reasoning rewatching it I think I was wrong.
I had convinced myself that Jon just wanted to end the world via killing everyone because he was suicidal and wanting to martyr himself. And as I was watching the debate. Understanding that both yeah Jon no one is going to hear you when you're being a lil' bitch about it (his "you just wanna stab Jonah" was low and bs and he knew it) and also everyone's motivations, how Melanie and Georgie just did so much to protect people and still lost them in the end, Basira's lonley pilgramage into the domains watching everyone's suffering and Martin's hope. And like Martin dismissing Jon EVERY SINGLE TIME with the whole "you're just suicidal" argument (in softer ways but still) almost convinced me again. But than Jon sayed: "so we are going to just hope for the best then" and it clicked to me.
For four whole seasons Jon has just been lying to himself hoping for the best: that he would prove he deserved his promotion and everything would be okay, that he could just ignore Prentiss and the worms and pretend to be a skeptical and the supernatural wouldn't attack him, that if he discovered who killed Gertrude every tension in the Archives would resolve itself and everyone could be friends, that if he broke the tabble he would kill the NotThem and if he killed the NotThem Sasha might be back, that they were actually doing all that for a good cause, that if they stopped the Unknowing everything would be fine, that he was not really turning into a monster, that he could just stop taking live statements after the first one and all would be okay, that after the bullet Melanie would forgive him, that if he survived rescuing Daisy he would show he was usefull and Basira would forgive him, that if he stopped the Black Sun, that if he rescued Martin from the Lonely, that if he just Knew more, discovered more, that if... And he was wrong every single time. He was just gaining trauma and turning it into bad decisions rinse and repeat in the hope that this would be the one thing that would solve everything and it ended the world.
So he hears: "If we send the fears alway probably it won't be really that bad, the thousands of universes won't really end and this broken traumatized universe will heal and everything will be fine, we just need to do this one thing." And is it a surprise he is skepticall?
I get Jon more. That's more than being a martyr is wanting to take the actual hard decisions and deal with the consequences instead of just hoping for the best one more time.
I get everyone more. I understand why they choose it. The want to fix things. Like I totally think Jon is right but also if I was on the debate I would vote to send the fears away, I would go to every reason on the book for it. And like don't get me wrong Jon is doing it because he is suicidal and because he just doesn't want more guilt (wich is weird because for me is a guilt either way scenario) but as everything is more complex.
Also I think that while they would have made the same decision the characthers we know would be a bit happier in the finale if both everyone wasn't so obviously against even hearing Jon even less considering his points from the start and Jon wasn't being an unsurferable asshole defending his points, like he got into defensive attack mode so quickly and like I get it, it's frustrating to not be heard but also holy shit he was such an asshole. Like they where still at least humoring him until he started just accusing everyone all the fucking time. I love Jon but he is a really hard person to talk to because he will go for the personal shit and the "you're evil actually" the moment you challenge his beliefs. But them if this bitches could do a healthy comunication they wouldn't even be there so what's new.

as a young person who is also very fed up with online leftists, it’s so frustrating because i do understand where a lot of my peers are coming from. i was born in 99 and i feel like american politics has just been nightmare after nightmare throughout my life. we weren’t quite old enough to understand what obama was up against during his presidency, and when we did finally start tuning into politics, it was during the trump era of clownery and everything has just felt so much more panicked and urgent (a lot of which is manufactured, i’m aware) since. i understand people being sick of things taking so long to change, i am too, i just don’t know how they think not voting or claiming both sides suck (which diminishes how dangerous the gop is) is going to put us in a better position. they may think it sucks right now under biden but it sucked a lot more under trump and would suck even worse if the gop took the presidency in 2024
Like... yes, to an extent, I understand. You guys came of age right when things really went off the rails with Obama Derangement Syndrome, everything got a lot worse and a lot scarier overnight, and it felt like the current system was so laughably inadequate for the problems at hand that of course it needed huge and immediate changes. Which, like! I'm not disagreeing! I wake up every day and I see something else terrible and/or stupid has happened and I occasionally just wish for the meteor too! But I am also a grownup who recognizes that that's not going to actually fix anything, and that life beyond echo-chamber leftist Twitter exists. So yes, we all have the "just give in and blow it up" moments. But that's... not actually a political strategy, certainly not a humane one, and it continues to baffle and infuriate me that that's just Online Leftist staple rhetoric.
I know that it can be difficult for people of any age, but particularly young people, to conceptualize anything outside of their own lived experiences/personal memories, and yes, you have the misfortune of coming of age in a particularly bad political moment. Again, nobody's denying this! But if someone's response to that is to insist that only they know anything "true," history and/or culture and/or the besetting problems of America for its entire 250-year existence either aren't real or could have been solved by the Democrats already if they just Tried Hard Enough, then those of us who know better are under no obligation to take this BS seriously. It gets even worse when these people start acting like they're the only authority to ever be trusted, everyone else is wrong and/or evil, and their twisted immature ideal of "revolution!" is the only way forward.
Humans, and human society, politics, culture, history, etc., are complicated. The world does not exist in a neat black-and-white, zero-sum moral vacuum where one choice is totally right and the other is totally wrong. Attempts to impose the Most Correct Ideology, of whatever stripe, have always ended terribly and done a lot of avoidable damage. But "things got really bad in four years and Biden hasn't fixed that + every other problem in America since its founding, therefore he and the Democrats are actually worse than Trump!" is just straight-up clown magical thinking, and it offers absolutely nothing useful for anyone, especially those who sanctimoniously claim to want to fix it. So, yeah.

Not to bring up politics on my fandom blog, but I gotta let out somewhere so I’m yelling into the void on tumblr so bear with me.
I truly think the U.S needs to go back to teaching civics in schools at a higher level then they currently are; because the amount of people who seemingly can’t grasp how elections and general politics run is astounding. Like, I totally get being frustrated with the state of American politics and the amount of corruption and private equity in what’s supposed be a public entity, but yall are really starting to test my patience when it comes to election season. Because yall are being dumb with this whole “don’t vote for Biden”/vote third period campaign you’re trying to put out there.
Unfortunately America is a two party system and a lot of people fall somewhere within the political spectrum. And generally throughout history, even if you didn’t agree with a candidate you vote for the one that more aligns with your values in the hopes that you can get them to change their opinion on important matters through congress and the senate (aka state reps). However in the last three election cycles a lot of people have become one policy voters (meaning one issue makes or breaks who they’ll vote for) and now we’re on the brink of rolling back a centuries worth of progress because a bunch of far right christofacists were able to come into power by people not voting. And rather then recognize that we are legitimately headed down a very dangerous path if Trump gets elected for a second term; people have just decided to not vote or mobilize a third party candidate. Both of which unfortunately just leads to a Trump victory because republicans are far more likely to vote as a party than democrats.
While think that at some point a real effort has to be made to try and get some more younger and progressive politicians in power, the year on election is not the time to start. and that is simply because America at this point it not capable of coming to together to recognize anyone who is not a democrat or a republican and it’s not a change you can implement at the national level immediately. For these changes to occur people need to start showing up at non Presidential elections and voting progressive and third party candidates locally, so it gets on the radar and they start to take it seriously and adopt that ideology within their own parties. However, yelling on the internet that you’re not going to vote with seemingly no alternative plan isn’t going to do anything. Not to mention no politician is ever going to cater to every base within a party, it’s simply not feasible. I’m sure that there are moderates who disagree with certain aspects of Bidens politics, but they understand that Biden is a far better alternative to Trump.
And ultimately that’s what all of this boils down to, the Trump of it all. If Biden was facing back Republicans of old like Mitt Romney or John McCain, I’d say sure not voting and making a statement on the democrats not accurately representing your beliefs will make you not vote for them would be ok. Unfortunately a second term of Trump is going to have far more reaching implications than I think people realize, and don’t realize how serious it is. Out side of the fact that Trump has basically already demonstrated that if he can, he won’t peacefully transfer power to whoever succeeds him. But he will roll back a ton of civil liberties and probably do irreparable damage to certain parts of the country and branches of government. Like do you really want to get an even more conservative Supreme Court or for things like abortion bans to become national law. And I know that people think that’s fear mongering or that they don’t care about the damage it does to their community, which is fine and all I suppose. But there are a ton of kids who are powerless in this matter who don’t get a say, who may not feel the same way and saying “you don’t care” even as a minority group is still an insanely privilege take and a very short term thinking.
And finally, if you’re not voting for Biden because of his handling of the Hamas Israel war, allowing Trump into office is not going to help anyone over there. Because Trump and republicans have already stated that they are pretty much on the side of Israel and are going to probably aid them even in more in bombing the shit out of Gaza. So if that’s the hill your will to die on, don’t dilute yourself into thinking that not voting for Biden will do anything to help anyone or desecrate the situation because Trump will make it far worse and then America will be complicit and all the activism in the world won’t help.

you have really fantastic thoughts and are very insightful and well spoken! I agree with you about a lot of what you said- corporations being the number one polluter but blaming individual people as a distraction, the type of discourse you’re willing to engage with, etc.
I will say my biggest issue with TS right now is still her lack of stance on palestine. I totally get that it’s kind of odd to look to celebrities for guidance on geopolitical issues… but then I think about her impact. she is the number one artist in the world. just her instagram post telling people to register to vote was a huge deal! her voice could be soooo impactful to the people suffering from literal genocide and yet… radio silence. I guess that just really rubs me the wrong way. when does PR strategy become less important than speaking out against genocide? I just wonder what impact on the public opinion of the war she could have if she just spoke out, or even showed solidarity with the ceasefire now movement in some way!
I will also say I do agree with a lot of the criticism surrounding her behavior at the grammy’s. I love TS but like… time and place beloved. I 100% understand why people are frustrated by that as well. and I do agree that she has weaponized misogyny as a defense against critiques. it’s not misogynistic to be critical of the things I mentioned. especially when she has so much actual misogyny coming at her lol.
anyways, thank you for receiving my rant. it’s always so nice to hear your thoughts, you’re truly very smart and well informed!!!
of course, thanks for sending me your thoughts! ❤️ I think it can be understandably be very frustrating to know someone has a massive platform they aren't using to speak out on important issues. It's disappointing to know that were she to say something, it could make a big difference, yet she's choosing not to. I get that, and if that's where your line in the sand is for why you can't support her/enjoy her music/whatever, I absolutely get that too and I completely respect that standpoint.
My thoughts basically boil down to...
1) Taylor's big platform comes from being an artist/singer/songwriter/performer, not from speaking out on world affairs or political & humanitarian issues. She's an entertainer. It can really suck to come to terms with this, but in my opinion (and again, I totally understand if someone disagrees with me here), she isn't obligated to be that person. it isn't her job, and she's never claimed it to be. We can not like it (I personally would love it if she were more outspoken), but I do not demand that she speaks out, because I have decided it is something I willing to accept about who she is so as to still remain a fan of hers. A person shouldn't have to be everything to everyone just because they are famous.
2) Again people are going to disagree with me here, but I cannot express to you how much rather I would her not speak on something she isn't adequately informed on over her saying the wrong things very loudly. I have no idea how well informed Taylor is about what's going on in the world, because she is not exactly forthcoming, lol, so I don't want to say i don't trust her to say the right things, but...well. The last thing we need is misinformation being spread around by more celebrities who didn't check their facts or source their knowledge, at which point the discussion online shifts into bandwagon hating of celebrities and away from the actual issues themselves.
3) This could very well come from me running in Taylor fan circles online and therefore seeing more Taylor content that anyone elses, but from my perspective this kind of criticism is disproportionately lobbed at Taylor Swift over others high-level celebs. Many celebs haven't spoken out, many celebs fly their private jets excessively (and are in fact bigger carbon-emitters than taylor) yet don't receive the same energy in terms of widespread online disapproval. In some cases, it absolutely feels like an instance of "I already hate her and this gives me a reason to feel justified in that hatred and get more people on my side!" Again, there are people online more focused on calling out and canceling celebrities than helping the causes they claim to care about so passionately. Our effort should be on elevating the platforms of people who know what they're talking about, on the voices of the Palestinian people and the reporters and activists striving to be heard, rather then demanding people with existing platforms (from being musicians, no less, lol) speak out about things they don't the first thing about it.
The criticism of Taylor I most agree with is the stuff that involves her being a hypocrite. Like, there's no doubt that she calls on feminism when it benefits and conveniences her and largely drops it the rest of the time, which definitely does rub me the wrong way. For instance, the press article after the ratty breakup that was all, "No one would be treating me like this if I were a MAN" was deeply misguided and wack, lol, based on the (incorrect) assumption that people hated that she'd had a rebound boyfriend as opposed to the reality, which was that people hated the fact that she'd associate so closely with an undeniably abhorrent person. Like Taylor, in this case this is not about you being a woman, and you are absolutely deflecting from valid critique aimed your way. For instance, how you can claim to care about and protect your POC and black fans and then date someone who's a blatant racist? Similarly, her claiming to want to be more outspoken in Miss Americana and then never following through from that point on, it's very disappointing! She shouldn't say she wants to be more involved and then never get more involved. She shouldn't use politics for clout then drop it when she feels she no longer needs it.
Curious about what rubbed you the wrong way about the Grammys? Was it the album announcement or her alleged Celine Dion snub? My thoughts on the Celine thing are: She clearly hadn't expected to win, she was overwhelmed and excited and didn't even have a prepared speech, and whilst it was definitely a misstep in the moment, it was a human one, and it's very clear they talked backstage, Celine posted the picture of them, and there seems to be absolutely no hard feelings between the women actually involved, so to me it's a complete non-issue. My thoughts on the Grammys album announcement: It was for the fans, not the people in the room. It was also her time on a stage to say what she pleased! She was being recognized! So I don't think it detracted from anyone else's moment in the spotlight. Fans online got excited, but it's not like people stopped caring about anyone else at the Grammys or the other major performances/moments, lol. Also, it's not so different from Beyonce announcing her album during the Super Bowl. A bit wrong time wrong place? maybe, but it's all meant in good fun. It is music, the grammys are a celebration of music, we are here to have fun! A very low-stakes issue for me.

Maybe in Love
Sighing, Koala sent a sideways look at Sabo.   He was stuffing his face with takoyaki, totally focused on the food. The little balls dipped in brownish sauce did look delicious, but she wished he would also listen to what she was saying. Sure, they were supposed to have fun during summer break, and traditional festivals like this were perfect for relaxing, but they were still college students... and Sabo’s votes weren’t exactly good.   Koala sighed again, stealing one of the takoyaki from Sabo’s plate out of frustration. “Hey!” he complained, but his face was too stuffed for the disappointment to show on his features.   Koala chewed on the soft little ball with a satisfied expression, taking her time. Then, she pinched his cheeks and yelled, “Don’t you think you’re overeating?”   “Nope...” *munch-munch* “...I’ve just begun!”   Koala envied him. Sabo could eat all he wanted but never gained weight. It was as if he burned food. Instead, despite training as much—if not more—than him, she had to be careful about her calorie intake.   “You’re cute, don’t worry,” Robin constantly reminded her, but Koala wasn’t as self-confident as she looked. She already had a rounded face, and she didn’t want to end up looking like, well, a real koala.   “Is something wrong?”   Koala tensed at Sabo’s question, hoping her cheeks had not turned red. “I... I’m just worried about our next exams,” she half-lied.   “Don’t you...” *munch-munch* “...always get top votes?”   “I’m worried about you!”   At that, Sabo finally swallowed and stopped looking like a chipmunk. “Don’t sweat it.” He grinned at her brazenly. “I know a cute girl who always helps me when I don't understand something.”   “What are you s—” Koala stopped on her track exactly when the first firework exploded, brightener than the stars.   Wait, is he talking about me?   A second firework lightened the sky.   Does he find me... cute?   A third explosion of colours followed.   Koala glanced at Sabo, still grinning and looking handsome in his blue kimono, and then promptly looked down. Thankfully, the splashes of yellow and pink would dissimulate the blush on her face.   Unable to find something to say, Koala stared at her sleeves. Her yukata was a lighter shade of blue that matched Sabo’s, enriched with stylized white motifs resembling waves; moreover, she had adorned the short braid tucked behind her left ear with a flower. It was a simple look, but she had... not disliked her reflection in the mirror earlier today.   The loud “BANG!” of yet another firework startled Koala, and she grabbed Sabo’s kimono without thinking. She suddenly felt very aware of her relationship status with him. They weren’t dating or anything, but they were always together—which could mean only one thing.   Koala lifted her head again. By the amused look on Sabo’s face, she could tell she had wholly turned red; no fireworks could help her hide it this time around. Her heart pounding furiously, She stole another takoyaki and ran to one of the game stalls. --- “So, how did the date go?”   “It wasn’t a date!”   “Fufufu...”   “I’m sorry,” murmured Koala. “I didn’t intend to scream at you.” Robin was her dearest friend, but she wished the archaeology grad student would stop teasing her about Sabo.   “It’s fine.” Robin swept the sweat from her face with a purple towel without further poking at her, but her knowing look spoke volumes.   Trying to distract herself, Koala started running on the treadmill.   Sure, we went to school together and then signed up for the same college...   Koala ran faster, huffing.   ...but that doesn’t mean anything, right?   Next to her, Robin giggled again.   I should take things into my own hands and invite Sabo on an actual date.   Koala groaned and ran even faster.   Yes! I’ll do it one of these days...   ...maybe.

1 or 22 for the ask game-?
aaa sorry for how long this took! the worst thing about maladaptive daydreaming is that i'll daydream about doing something and then... not do it...
here is the ask game!
1. the character everyone gets wrong
Tumblr media
oo this one is a bit tricky since i think aphverse has the greatest potential for completely different interpretations of characters. for instance, i really enjoy dante as a quiet blank-faced character while others characterized him as a earnest, youthful teen—and both are amazing! there's lots of content to pull from and rarely will i go "this is wrong."
but to answer the question, i feel like laurance or vylad might be a good contender but i'm not as familiar with their character so my vote is prettiest girl ever aphmau!
sometimes when i read rewrite proposals for aphmau's character there's always a need to reject the fact she's a self insert. like, some people will groan endlessly about how aphmau is a mary-sue and then project themselves on aphmau anyway? but it's okay when they do it because it's for stuff like acne or other unconventional standards.
like i once read someone claiming their aphmau is "feminist" because she can fight for herself... which is... so frustrating. not only does aphmau maintain a high-ranking position as lord, not only is she seen defending herself multiple times, but the guards are there to protect her and the village. and even then your character can be feminist without wielding a sword at all! she's not anti-feminist for having her literal guards protect her!
the more people look down on aphmau for being a "mary sue" the more i want to embrace those characteristics. she is the most gorgeous woman alive, everyone does love her, and she used to be literally god. she's also a silly anime protaginist who wants to take care of the people she loves. what about it!
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
Tumblr media
DANTE AND APHMAU'S RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT
with one mistake dante lost his entire family. not only was the catalyst for his brother's dead but everyone in the village had forgotten about him. he wants revenge on his older brother but still keeps the broken amulet gene gifted him for comfort. the idea anyone would ever want to stay with him is unfathomable.
then aphmau comes along and she offers him to become her guard. it takes time but he slowly warms up to phoenix drop. then aphmau leaves one day and he waits by the gate. he waits and he waits and he waits. for fifteen years he waits for aphmau to return home because she's become his family.
it is my cosmic need for rebirth to continue because there jess was totally setting up that aphmau would learn gene was a bad person through dante and auuuuugh. can you imagine the drama? i love them so much you don't even understand.

In my city activist groups have specific inner guidelines to let people through during emergencies and not doing that is clearly so dangerous and stupid, I'm very sorry that happened.
You said "guilting people going about their daily lives" but I think that is needed: we cannot go about our daily lives, this situation demands for everyone to wake up (meaning voting for and demanding these changes from politicians, participating in boycotts of for example meat and oil, stopping flying... even when these things are difficult for an individual in this society, we are in a situation in which we need to do difficult things). Clearly they have failed in the communication aspect of the protest (communicating what and how to change and why) but I don't think the way of protest itself is flawed. Roadblocks etc are used because they get attention, hopefully make people think and they signify understanding of the brokeness of the societal agreement.
Idk I understand your point and the frustration but I don't think frustration itself is always a dangerous feeling. If you feel like there are better ways to get the change that is urgently needed, that's amazing, please put all your power towards that. But in the end I feel like diverse forms of civic action are needed, even the ones that are "guilt-tripping" (although I do agree that they need to be more clear about offering the solutions).
youre missing the point . they’re not guilting peopel by giving them other options . they’re just shouting about people driving being monsters and killing the planet like . that’s not productive to anyone . urging individual action is a good thing but harassing people and causing disruption without means for good cause is just not how protesting works . because it makes you look like you’re doing it for no reason . they’re not a good climate activist group . and inciting change isn’t gonna work through harassing someone eating meat like pets does or throwing things in the roads like just stop oil does my criticism of them isn’t a criticism of individual change and i think you misinterpreted my words to take that point away . because it’s a criticism of their strategy of activism not of this kind of activism in general you can argue things like militancy garners more attention but this group have done nothing in effect with the attention they’ve been getting they’re just pulling more stunts without actually promoting any way to aid in environmentalism beyond ‘join our group’ there are other environmental activist causes that need more attention who have lobbied parliament or have support from mps .
individual change isn’t everything either if everyone decreased their driving and meat intake we’d still be left with masses and masses of emissions from fast fashion plants manufacturing plants fracking non biodegradable plastic production and you’re right that needs public support but they’re not going to get it through their methods of being total cunts even the just stop oil people in my own city have only ever given me pamphlets on joining their group never been asked to sign a petition never been given any information on how to reduce my personal co2 emissions and it’s the same for everyone else i know . idk if it’s the same for others but in my city they don’t do anything tiger than promote themselves with no substance under why we should do that . they’re a pretty bad activist group because they don’t know HOW to gain support from the public and they aren’t doing anything to show you what their group is actually doing besides viral stunts .
