okay for me i found the gideon the ninth audiobook narration kind of off putting, the voice actress just wasn't my vibe, but once i physically read it and like developed my own like narrative voices for all the characters i really got into it. it's also one that's meant to be read and reread with a lot of foreshadowing and clues and worldbuilding that can be confusing on a first read but on rereads are super engaging and really click. the second book messes around with different pov structures and flashbacks that seemingly contradict the first book until various plot things are revealed
(also there was a post that said something along the lines of "all the narrators in the locked tomb series are people who are constantly three steps removed from having any clue what's going on" and while i really loved that aspect i know lots of people find it frustrating)
I liked the voice actress! I was amused by her accent, haha, but I'm easy in that way. I typically love books with lost of foreshadowing and delicate plot things going on, but I felt, like.. so disconnected from the actual plot in a bad way.
[spoilers below!]
like I think it started off in a very promising way... gideon wants to escape, the escape fails, she gets whisked off-world... but as soon as they got onto first house I always felt like I was waiting for some higher stakes to connect gideon to the goings-on.
in a way I think harrow might have been a better POV character for this first book? she, imo, had more of a personal stake in winning. I personally didn't really get why gideon would need to care much about "winning" and ascending to lyctorhood. harrow... sure, I get that: she wants to obtain power since she's destroyed her house and family by being curious and not following rules, but when it came to gideon I just kept thinking, "why do you care? why wouldn't you want to run away? what is keeping you here (emotionally)?"
I also think the "lesbians in space!" bit was oversold, which was a slight bummer for me 😅 I LOVE ROMANCE I would have probably been happier if gideon and harrow had done a little "oh shit feelings reveal" moment halfway through the novel. I get that it isn't a romance buuuuut with all the chatter about it I almost wish it was! I do respect the fact that almost all the main characters were women and there were a lot of conflicts between them that were, like, "okay cool this is a Lesbian Narrative" but alas I am a romance girlie at heart.
back to the plot: I think gideon lacked motivation and stakes. I think she needed a more personal connection that was more clearly revealed to the audience. I LOOOOVE Big Reveals in books, but I like when they're deftly done. personally I felt the end fight (that took up like a solid hour of narration, I'm not going to lie ahaha) was basically an excuse to tie gideon up and have characters monologue at each other to explain why they care at all about the plot.
when we finally get the reveal that gideon and harrow have a shared past of being the only surviving children of the ninth and that gideon was feared for surviving the nerve gas, I was like: cool. when we got the reveal that gideon felt guilty for killing harrow's parents, I was like: ahaha wait. because we should have found that out much, much sooner as readers.
if muir had spent more time doing character work with gideon and delving into her headspace during the trials, I might have been more engaged during them AND we wouldn't have needed an infodump at the end. it MAYBE could have worked if harrow hadn't known about gideon's involvement at all (so there would be more stakes: I Must Keep My Secret From Harrow), but harrow knew everything [except for the precise "I'm personally culpable for their deaths" emotion gideon had, but even that was like... immediately introduced and immediately resolved, so we didn't even get any tension between them about it!].
I'll compare it to one of my favorite books ever, the queen of attolia. if you haven't read it, stop reading this post NOW and go read it, because I'm about to spoil the big twist that had me yelling in my car when I got to its section in its audiobook:
when it was revealed that Eugenides was in love with Irene, and had been in love with her when she cut his hand off, and had STAYED in love with her, and had pursued her once again and taken her because he STILL LOVED HER AFTER WHAT SHE DID TO HIM, AND THAT WAS WHY HER ACTIONS WEIGHED HEAVILY ON HER, AND THAT WAS WHY HE CONTINUED FORTH IN THE WAR, I was GOBSMACKED and I was like OH EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE, but the only reason I felt satisfied about it was because leading up to that, Gen and Irene both had other motivating factors to be involved in the plot. the reveal of Gen's feelings radically deepened that investment, but there WAS investment there in the first place.
and back to gideon the ninth: I felt SO removed from the plot, and gideon felt uninvested in the plot, and we had this HUGE swath of characters when all I really wanted to focus on was gideon and harrow and what the fuck was going on between them!
I think confused and removed narrators can be done well, but gideon the ninth didn't quite hit for me. I think a big part of it is how HYPED this book has been on the corners of booklr and booktok I've seen. Like, I had high expectations, and that's always dangerous!
I liked the humor, and I found gideon fun, and I want more of gideon and harrow, but the book as a whole didn't quite give me what I was looking for. that's okay! not everything is for everyone, but I'm glad I read it and was able to get an idea of what everyone was buzzing about

i hate having extremely specific niche kinks that have like. very few people id ever confront about getting drawn. not in like an immoral way in a "i have to be REAL comfy with this person and not be so embarrassed sexually and also know if its something theyd even be willing to draw in the first place" kinda deal.

i had a whole big idea for this, but im afraid im not terribly good at comics! or drawing fast!!! but its isas birthday!!! happy birthday!!
(the gifts are under the cut! written out!)
"Thank you! But, oh Change, you really didn't have to get little ol' me anything, ehe!"
"Nonsense, Isabeau." Odile huffs fondly. "You're part of our little team, after all. Did you think we'd forget?"
Maybe a little? You don't even entirely remember telling them about your birthday! From the look on Mira's face, though, you must have told her. It seems like she orchestrated the whole thing.
She claps her hands together cheerfully, "So! Who wants to go first!"
Bonnie waves their hands wildly, hopping up and down. "Oh!! Oh me! I want to give Za my gift!!!"
Heh! It doesn't seem like anyone's willing to fight them on it. After a moment of silence, they cheer, rushing off to heft up a small gift bag. They hurtle back towards you and present the bag dramatically.
You gingerly take the bag from them and pull it open. Inside is a-
"WAUGH?" You yelp, dropping it!
The bag falls on its side, sending the contents tumbling out. A spider?! A spider!
A... spider-shaped pin cushion.
Oh.
Bonnie lets out a long hard laugh, pointing at you, "Hahah!!! You thought it was a real spider!! Spiders don't get that big, dummy!"
"You'd be surprised," Sif speaks up, batting their lashes oh-so innocently.
You shiver. Bonnie also shivers.
"Thank you Bonbon for the pin cushion." You say, grabbing it off the ground.
... Stabbing a spider-shaped thing might feel kinda nice, actually. It was obviously a prank gift, but you'll still get plenty of use out of it!
Bonnie grins at you brightly.
Odile steps up next, bowing her head to you. She passes you a neatly wrapped box. You carefully remove the paper (its pretty!) and unfold the box.
Oh! A book!
Colour Me Curious: A History Of Colour Theory.
"Back in Dormont's House," she glances back at Sif when she says the word Dormont, you pretend you don't see, "you mentioned having an interest in colour theory. A librarian a few towns back recommended this to me. I figured you might enjoy it."
You nod rapidly. Oh!! You're surprised you haven't looked into it yet! You're not sure how you forgot! Especially considering the weird shade - colour - you all have seen! With your eyes!
"Thank you, m'dame!!" You say, trying to be mindful of your volume.
She smiles, "Of course. I'd like to hear what you take from it."
"Of course!!"
"Okay! Okay, um... me next!" Mira pulls two boxes from her dress pocket (?????) and holds them anxiously, "I shouldn't have gotten two! I don't want to overshadow anyone else! But! I think you'd like these both! So! So. I got them both! Happy birthday, Isabeau!!"
You scoop them from her arms, "I don't think anyone is worried about you overshadowing them, Mira!"
The rest of your friends hum in agreement.
"Okay."
A beat.
"Start with the smaller one!"
The smaller one turns out to be a light novel of some sort. Oh! She's talked about this one before!! How she thought you'd like it because it's super cute! You thank her and place it softly on top of Odile's gift before turning your attention to the larger box.
This is...
"Oh?" You squeak, feeling a little choked up.
"Oh?" Mira echoes, "Oh no! Do you- do you not like it?"
You grab the gift from its box, running your hand along the grain. Oh no! You might cry! Oh Change!
"Mira!! Mira this is so expensive? This is so much?" You feel unworthy to even hold it.
This is like... three meters of silk?? It's dyed such a rich lightless shade? That's unbelievably expensive!! It's beautiful and so well made that you're not sure what to do with yourself. Oh crab.
"It wasn't so bad, really!!" She yelps, worry clouding her expression.
You very softly (very, very carefully) tuck the silk back into its gift box. Then you throw yourself at Mira, sweeping her up into a tight hug. She cries out, clinging to you. And then bursts into a fit of giggles.
"Thank you thank you thank you???"
"Waaa!!" She laughs, "I'm glad you like it!!!"
"I know I know lightless isn't really your shade but you HAVE to let me make you a bow with this, Mira!!"
"Ah!! If you want to!!"
"I Do!!"
"Okay!"
You pull away from the hug, glancing back at the silk. You feel your chest swell with joy!! Oh Change!! This is so much stuff! And you're still not done!
Sif looks... a little bit nervous. They shift the box they're holding in their hands and shuffle up to you. After a moment of hesitation, he holds it out.
"... Happy birthday, Isa."
You take the box with care. It's small, but heavier than you're expecting. There's a bow on top that Bonbon snatches after you take it off. All of these gifts have been a surprise! But you're really not sure what Sif got you!
You open the box.
A piece of lightless fabric sits under the lid. It's embroidered! Not perfect or flawless, but done with care. Darkless spots are scattered on its surface and in big capital letters, it reads "You're A Star!"
Oh!! You get this joke, now! It used to only make sense to Sif but you know now!! Your chest feels light. You laugh.
"There's more." They say quietly.
You nod, gingerly removing the embroidery and setting it to the side. It reveals... a wood carving!! You pull the carving from the box, turning it over in your hands. This is you!!! It's a carving of you!!
How did you not notice him working on it??
"Sif!!" You gasp, "Sif it's perfect!!!"
"O-Oh?"
"This is beautiful!!! You made this? And the patch??"
He looks away, hiding his face in his cloak, "Um... yeah."
"I love them!" You grin so wide it hurts your face, "I love you! All of you!! This is all so... ah!! I need to start thinking about gifts for your birthdays, now!!"
"How about we finish celebrating yours first?" M'dame hums.
You feel light as a feather. You love your friends - your family - more than you can say.

The sound of glasses clinking against one another echoed in the small booth they had found themselves in. The pub was uncharacteristically quiet, only a handful of chattering civilians and humming workers filling up the place.
Perhaps visiting in the middle of the week had its perks. They did not have to deal with loud teenagers celebrating their 18th Birthday, oh so happy they could finally buy themselves a pint of beer. There was no ear-piercing yelling, no obnoxious laughter, and no cheering that followed the sound of a glass smashing against the hardwood floor.
It was peaceful. Quiet. Relaxing in a way.
The past few weeks had exhausted her to the bone. After a mission almost gone wrong, the days were nothing but constant meetings and paperwork that had her hand cramping every few minutes. Her eyes were begging for a break, stinging in the corners as they dried up from exertion.
Her head felt heavy, and the sweet alcoholic drink she sipped on every couple of minutes only seemed to be making it worse. Her cheek pressed against the palm of her hand and her eyes fell shut on their own accord. A sharp exhale passed her lips, followed by a quiet murmur, “I think I might go on extended leave.”
The burly man in front of her hummed, his own tiredness getting the better of him as he took sips of his beer. “Think I might, too.”
“Yeah?” she opened an eye to peak at her co-worker, “What’re you gonna do?”
“Sleep,” was his answer, and she couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle, “You?”
She shrugged, rolling her shoulders and moving back to lean against the soft backrest, “The same probably,” she admitted, “Maybe go on a walk or two.”
He moved forward, leaning against the wooden table and rubbing his coarse fingers against his face, “Don’t have anyone waiting for you?” he questioned curiously.
She shook her head in a reply, “Never had.”
“Never?”
“Never. You?”
“Used to,” he muttered, his voice deep, “A couple times. Never worked out.”
She sent him a smile which told him she understood. “Away too much?”
“Yeah,” he confirmed. “I don’t hold it against them. I’d get sick of waiting, too.”
There was a pause. His eyes were transfixed on hers, as if contemplating his next words. He swirled the beer around in his glass and took a large swig.
“What do you mean by never?” he asked with curious eyes, continuing to speak upon noticing her confused gaze, “Never anything serious? Was it just like a... fleeting summer fling?” he gestured with his hands, the curiosity pulling him out of his tired state.
She almost rolled her eyes in response. “No, John. By never I mean never. As in I’ve never been with anyone in any way, shape or form.”
Silence. A blink. She could almost see the gears turning in his head.
Surprise was the first emotion she saw on his face. Perhaps she should have expected this. No-one really expects someone her age to still be a virgin. Not that it never happened, clearly, it was just uncommon. She could only blame it on her tired brain; it was rare for her to truly speak her mind. Under any other circumstances, she would have simply said, ‘it never got serious’, or ‘it didn’t work out.’
“Anything?” he tilted his head to the side.
“I never really had the time, John,” she replied, her tone suddenly defensive, “This job is basically my entire life.”
He put his hands up in mock defence, a gentle smile pulling at the corners of his lips, “Not shaming you,” he defended, “Just surprised is all.”
“Too old to be a virgin I guess... but from what I heard from other women; I’m not exactly missing anything.”
He laughed, his eyes creasing in the corners before he took the last swig of his beer, “Guess you can do a better job yourself.”
She could feel her cheeks heating up at his words. Her eyes immediately left his as she looked away, “God, this is awkward.”
“Is it?”
“Yes, it is, John. It’s embarrassing.”
“How?” he hummed, resting his arm on the backrest of the booth, “We’re just two adults sharing stories. Nothing to be ashamed of, really.”
“You’re making me wish I was back at the base.” she retaliated.
He almost snorted, “Alright, alright, I’ll drop it.”
“Thank you.”
A pause.
Of course, He didn’t drop it. “D’you ever think about it?”
“John.”
“Just wondering,” he said, but when her cold gaze reached his warm one, he let out a defeated sigh, “Alright, lets change the subject.”
Despite his willingness to speak about something else, she could see the curiosity still dancing faintly in his eyes. His fingers were mindlessly playing with the empty glass in his hands, teeth biting onto the inside of his cheek, and his foot creating a quiet rhythm as it tapped against the wooden floor.
She let out a sharp breath, “Sometimes.”
“Hm?”
“I think about it... sometimes,” her voice was meek; quiet. As if ashamed of what she was telling him.
He crossed his arms and rested them on the table, eyes brightening with sudden interest. “It’s normal,” he assured her with an amused smile, “Any candidates?”
“No,” she denied.
Wetting his lips, he manoeuvred his body around the table and sat closely beside her, his muscular arm draping behind her on the cushion backrest. “How about him?” he pointed with his eyes.
Across the pub sat a man one could only describe as handsome. A strong jaw, thick hair and dressed in a nice button-up shirt. He didn’t seem to be waiting for anyone, rather like he was taking a few minutes to unwind after a stressful day at work. He was attractive but-
“I don’t want to have sex with just anyone, John,” she countered, turning to look his way.
Due to the nature of their conversation, she became increasingly aware of his proximity. His forearm, draped over the cushion, was almost pressing against the back of her neck. His thigh was pressed flush against hers, chest almost pressing against her shoulder as his other arm rested on the table, practically caging her in. She could feel his slow breaths fan across her hot cheek, and when their eyes met, she could see the same thoughts swimming in his head.
Sitting so very close to him, she took the chance to scan his face. The freckles that littered his nose and cheeks were faint but added a certain softness to his otherwise hard features; like those sharp blue eyes currently staring her down. His skin, although smooth, was dried out from the extreme conditions he was often exposed to, creating many wrinkles he wouldn’t otherwise have.
When their eyes met again, she couldn’t deny the sudden pull she felt towards him. She wanted nothing more than to cup his face in her hands – to feel the roughness of his beard scratch her palms – to press her lips against his, to taste the cigars he smoked so much on his tongue. Despite knowing she should, she could not look away; couldn’t break the intense eye contact they were sharing.
He cleared his throat suddenly, eyes snapping from hers and to the half-full glass that still sat in front of her, “You done with that?” he asked, his voice deeper than before.
Looking over at her drink, she hummed, no longer interested in the alcohol she was so happy to drink not even half an hour ago.
He nodded almost urgently, collected the two glasses and took them to the bartender who was cleaning the bar with a white cloth. The two men exchanged pleasantries, and soon enough John was back at the table.
“Need a lift?” he asked, hopeful.
“You’ve been drinking,” she pointed out, her eyebrow rising as she pushed herself to her feet.
John sent her a look, “Only one beer... and it was watered down anyway.”
“Hm,” she hummed, grabbing her coat and putting it on, “Alright.”
The moment she stepped outside the warm pub, she was met by the freezing evening air. It prickled on the skin of her cheeks, instantly numbing them as they walked in the direction of his car. John was a gentleman through and through, and the moment the car came into view, he rushed to open the door on the passenger’s side, letting her in with a smile on his face. The car ride was mostly quiet, with only a few words exchanged throughout and the radio filling up any silence that stretched between them.
It wasn’t uncomfortable, but with her mind going to inappropriate places every time he reached for the gear stick – with his veins popping out and fingers gripping tightly around it - she couldn’t wait to get out of the enclosed space. She couldn’t help but wonder how those fingers would feel against her naked skin, how they would feel gripping onto her in the most inappropriate of ways. At this point, she was shamelessly ogling him, and although she was certain he could feel her gaze on him, he didn’t say a word; not a peep, not even a look spared her way.
As much as she hoped to get out of the car, the moment he parked in front of her home, she felt nothing but disappointment. She wanted to, nay, needed him to stay with her. She needed him beside her for however long he would grant her, but this was way too early.
The words slipped out before she could even properly process her thoughts, “Would you like to come in?”
He stared at her for a short while, his eyes searching hers for something. She wasn’t sure what exactly, but she felt herself relax when he nodded, a breathless, “Yeah,” leaving his pink lips.
Surrounded by the familiarity of her own home, a feeling of comfort spread throughout her. Discarding their coats and shoes, the two ventured into the warm kitchen, where silence settled upon them once more.
“Hungry?” she eventually asked, to which he shook his head in reply, “Thirsty?”
“No,” he slowly approached her, a soft smile gracing his features.
He took in a deep breath upon stopping barely a foot away from her, his hand reaching up to fix a strand of hair that stuck out beside her ear. He rested his palm against her cheek then, and the warmth that radiated off his skin almost made her press further into him, to feel more of his touch.
As his thumb began to draw invisible circles against her skin, he angled her face to lock their eyes together. He leaned forward slowly, analysing any micro-expression on her face that told him to stop, that she didn’t want this. But he found none. In fact, her eyes looked hopeful... needy almost.
A faint gasp escaped her when the tip of his nose bumped into hers, swiping it across so that it then pressed against the apple of her cheek. His lips were like a ghost against hers, barely touching, yet still feeling their inviting presence.
“May I?” he asked seriously, refusing to take the first step without clear permission.
Her hands cupped his cheeks as a quiet plea escaped her lips. “Please,” she almost begged as her forehead pressed against his.
He gave in then, and the moment their lips melted together, they released breathy sighs of relief. His lips were soft, his beard equally so which was a pleasant surprise. She expected the dark hair to dig into her skin, to burn her chin and cheeks, but the hairs were gentle, like a soft cushion against her cheek.
What was a gentle kiss at first, quickly turned into something more. His hands eagerly transcended from her cheek, down to her neck, and eventually resting on the curve of her hips. He caged her in, the small of her back pressing against the cold of the countertop, but she felt nothing short of secure.
His hold on her was comforting, and perhaps it was due to his role as her trusted co-worker for what felt like decades that made her feel that way, but she couldn’t deny that his presence brought her a sense of comfort. A sense of safety she didn’t often feel.
“John,” she pulled away, a string of saliva connecting their swollen lips.
He hummed in question, his lips pressing against the softness of her cheek as his hands moved underneath her top and massaged her hips with his fingertips. She hummed at the feeling and wrapped her arms around his shoulders to pull him in even closer.
“Not in the kitchen,” she whispered into his ear.
He smiled against her, fingers entangling with hers as he pulled her away from the hard countertop. ‘Lead the way’ he told her with only his eyes. No words needed to be said for her to understand – to know what she was to do.
Pulling him behind her, she took him straight to her room, where the bed looked more inviting than ever before. His hands were quick to find their way back to her hips, where he squeezed her comfortingly and pulled her flush against his chest.
“Are you sure?” he questioned her, his brows knitting together with a certain worry.
A soft nod, “Yeah.”
“Not just anyone...” he repeated her earlier words whilst cupping her face lovingly.
She smiled and pressed her lips against his own, “You’re not just anyone, John.”
As they melted into a passionate kiss, John swiped his tongue along her bottom lip, begging for entry which he was eagerly granted. His tongue pressed against hers, tangling together in a lustful dance as a high-pitched moan rumbled through her throat. A feeling of embarrassment flooded through her at her own reaction, but before she could pull away from him and apologise, he let out a moan of his own.
He was slow to lift her shirt up to her ribs, even as he walked her backwards until the back of her knees were pressing against her wooden bedframe. With their lips parting, and a look shared between them, he pulled the shirt off her body and threw it mindlessly across the room. She didn’t have the time to turn insecure – to cover herself up from his prying eyes – as he, too, discarded his shirt to reveal his strong chest.
Her eyes were soon glued to the newly revealed piece of skin her eyes had never gazed upon. Littered with scars, and covered with a small amount of chest her, he was nothing short of attractive. Beautiful, she would even say.
Grasping her hand in his, he brought her hand up to rest against the skin of his chest, then her ribcage, and finally down to his abdomen, she was met with a thick-haired happy trail. She swallowed thickly, and her eyes moved up to meet with his.
He could see the concern clear as day in her eyes. Nervous. Heart beating at a rate it never has before.
“It’s okay,” he assured her, his voice soothing as he reached for the zipper of her jeans.
He pulled it down slow, his eyes never leaving hers to assure she was still comfortable, to know whether she had changed her mind. When he saw nothing on the sort, he pushed down the waist band of her jeans, one hand pushing from her hip as the mother moved to the curve of her ass until the jeans were half-way down her thighs.
She helped him then, ridding herself of the material to leave her in only her underwear. His eyes scanned her from head to toe, admiring every piece of skin revealed to him.
“Gorgeous,” he whispered lowly, causing a smile to bloom on her face.
He reached for the buckle of his belt then, but before he could undo it, her soft hand stopped him from doing so. His brows knit, wondering whether she had changed her mind, but instead of telling him to stop, she reached for his waistband and began to undo his belt herself. The metal clinked loudly as she worked on it, her hands shaking as she moved on to his zipper and pulled it down to reveal the band of his boxers.
“Lay down for me,” he told her, his thumb brushing against her cheek.
She wordlessly did as she was told, laying down on the comfy bed as John got out of the confines of his jeans. The tent that was slowly forming on his boxers was clear, even more so as he crawled above her, his arms resting by either side of her head.
She was first to kiss him, her lips nipping at his as their tongues met once again. Her hands, previously staying glued to his face, ventured down; she explored his body starting from his shoulders, the bumpy scar tissue thick underneath her fingers as she ventured further downward. She cherished the softness of him, the warmth that spread to her fingertips like a flame.
Pulling away from her eager mouth, his lips travelled down to her jaw, neck, and collarbone before placing soft kisses on the soft flesh of her covered breasts.
Her breathing turned heavier, her fingers tangling in his short hair as he reached underneath her, grabbing onto the strap on her back. The bra was pulled off without struggle, releasing her breasts from its tight hold and exposing them to his eyes.
She felt the urge to cover herself up; to hide away from his tender eyes. His own hands beat her to it, engulfing her perk nipples with his warm palms as he kissed down the valley between them. The open-mouthed kisses he was placing just below her collarbone descended further, replacing his right hand as he began to nip at her nipple.
She moaned at the feeling, her eyes clenching shut and back arching from the soft bed. It was as if electricity was flowing through her veins, causing hairs to stand at the back of her neck and skin to erupt in goosebumps. One of her legs lifted around his hip and her crotch lifted involuntarily. His covered cock ground into hers clothed core at the movement, and a guttural moan vibrated in his chest.
“Fuck,” he cursed, his right hand travelling down to her clothed core. He lifted the waistband gently, his fingers digging underneath it until his soft fingertips reached her already swollen clitoris.
“John,” she cried at the feeling. Her thighs moved in an attempt to close around his wrist, but only wrapped around his waist instead.
His finger moved in slow circles around her bud, the pressure slowly increasing as her breathless moans turned harsher; faster as the feeling spread throughout her body.
“Relax,” he whispered, feeling her tense underneath him at the unfamiliar feeling.
“I’m Sorry,” she replied, swallowing hard when he moved back up to look her in the eyes, “I’ve never-”
His brows furrowed at her embarrassed expression, “Finished?” he asked, to which he nodded, “Not even by yourself?”
“I-,” he took in a deep breath as his fingers ceased their movements, “I’m not sure how.”
John hummed at her answer. Pressing a quick kiss against her lips, he moved to sit on his knees, staring into her eyes as he hooked his fingers on the waistband of her underwear. Receiving a small nod from her, he pulled the material down her legs until she was completely bare in front of him.
Her core glistened from the arousal that slowly leaked out of her, wetting her labia with a shiny coat. He pressed a kiss against her knee, muttering soft praises as he moved closer and closer to her throbbing clit.
“Relax for me, yeah?” he said, and although she wasn’t sure whether she would be able to, she sent him a nod.
He wasted no time pressing his lips against her clit, softly sucking on the sensitive flesh as his fingers moved to spread her lips apart. The wet sound that echoed from this movement had her almost cringing, but when a finger pushed past her entrance, she couldn’t stop the moan from escaping her lips.
Her fingers pulled at his hair as his finger began to pump in and out, in and out, in and out. His lips were relentless, kissing and sucking on the most sensitive part of her with newfound vigour before another finger was pushed inside of her.
“John,” she called as a strange feeling erupted in her stomach and her walls began to clench around him.
“That’s it, love,” he complimented, the vibrations of his voice pulling a loud whine out of her, “Doing so well for me.”
“John, I-” her thighs clenched around his face and before she knew it, her back was arching from the bed and the knot that formed in her stomach finally broke, coating his finger and tongue with a thin liquid.
His movements didn’t cease, but the pumping got slower, milking her orgasm as she slowly came down from her high. He swallowed the fluid that covered his tongue and licked his lips before crawling back up to place a deep kiss on her lips.
She groaned at the taste on his tongue, her own arousal filling her tastebuds. “How was that?” he asked, his eyes bright with curiosity.
“Good,” she said, unsure how else to reply.
“Yeah?” she nodded, “Good. D’you want to continue, or-”
“Yes,” she cut him off, “Please.”
“Have you got any condoms?” he asked hopeful, to which she nodded and wordlessly reached for her bedside table.
“A joke from a friend,” she whispered, handing him the untouched pack.
He hummed, pulling out and placing the latex along his length. “Cruel joke,” he commented and placed himself back between her thighs.
She only smiled, and then gazed between her legs to take a peek at his hardened length. Her eyes visibly widened, nervousness suddenly proving her speechless.
“Hey,” he whispered, pressing a kiss against her temple, “If it’s too much, you tell me, and I’ll stop.”
“Okay,” she whispered back, cradling his face.
He simply smiled and took his length into his hand, guiding it up and down her slit to coat the tip of the condom with her orgasm. The mere feeling of his cock pressing against her caused her eyes to close, and fingers reach for his own.
He granted her the comfort, entangling their fingers together as he began to push into her. Despite her previous orgasm relaxing her walls, the sting of pressure as he entered her was still present. It wasn’t painful per se, but the pressure was not comfortable either.
He cooed into her ear, whispering sweet nothings to soothe her until be bottomed out inside her. No inch of him was left, the tip of his covered cock kissing her cervix as whilst he waited for her to adjust to his size.
One of her legs moved up to his waist, the other being pushed up by John himself until her feet were locked together on his back. He pushed even deeper then, and she moaned at the pleasant feeling when he pushed into her.
“Please,” she begged, her own hips rocking against him to stimulate some friction.
He was happy to provide her with what she needed, pulling almost completely out of her before thrusting back in. She could only mewl at the feeling, her hands reaching for him and pulling him close as he thrusted into her. Her breasts were pressed against his chest and thighs squeezed his waist as he peppered loving kisses along the expanse of her throat.
Her arms wrapped around his shoulders, holding him ever so close as she tugged on his short hair. His beard tickled her skin, but at that moment she could pay it no mind, much too focused on the feeling of his going moving in and out of her wet entrance. The slick sounds echoed in the room, and though she felt embarrassed by them earlier, right now they only added to the arousal that was slowly building up in her stomach once again.
She hadn’t expected for her second orgasm to approach her so soon, but from how John moaned and picked up his pace at the feeling of her clenching walls, she could tell he was not complaining. His fingers reached between both their bodies, and as if the penetration was not enough, he began to rub harshly against her clit, spreading the wetness that covered her skin.
“John-” she whined, her legs holding him more securely against her, “Harder-”
He grunted in her ear as his hand slammed against the pillow by her head. His hips increased their pace per her request and his tip began to slam against her cervix harder than it had before. Not too hard, careful not to cause her any discomfort as he changed the pace.
The sudden change seemed to finally throw her off the edge, and with a harsh clench of her walls, she came around his still thrusting cock. John was not too far behind her, as his thrusts soon began to turn sloppy. Her spasming walls guided him through it, and with one last, deep thrust he came inside the latex condom that separated them.
Their breathing was harsh as they attempted to catch their breaths and calm down their heartbeats. John kissed her once more, this time much softer – gentler – than he had before, and slowly pulled out of her.
She whined at the loss of contact, hands and legs attempting to keep him in place, but he just laughed, and assured her he would come back in just a second.
And he did. After throwing away the used condom, he returned with a cloth wet with warm water, and wiped the stickiness that was smeared on her inner thighs and her puffy lips. He disappeared once again then, getting rid of the cloth and returning to her, where she was now laying underneath a thick duvet.
His arms wrapped securely around her waist in a comforting embrace. “About that Leave,” he began, gaining her attention, “How about instead of sleeping... we get dinner some day?”
She turned to look into his eyes, “Are you asking me out on a date?”
“I am,” he confirmed with a large grin, “So?”
“I’d like that,” she admitted, “a lot.”
“A date it is, then,” he muttered, pressing one last kiss against the crown of her head before they both drifted off to sleep.

was reading this one fic where vox accidentally goes to heaven after dying saving valentino: https://archiveofourown.org/works/53808826/chapters/136190737 and although it mostly focuses on vox in heaven, it made me wonder
how do you think the other vees would react if one of their own died? (for any sort of combination of that, be it vox dying and val and velvette dealing with the aftermath, val dying and vox and velvette dealing with it, velvette dying and vox and val dealing with it)
don't have to answer all the combinations if you can't, mostly curious about your thoughts regarding val and velvette's reactions and the aftermath of a hypothetical vox death
(don't have to read the fic to answer this ask, just thought I'd leave it there since it inspired the thought process)
Oh boy, I've already talked about what Valentino might do if Vox died. I don't think my ideas are super original. In that scenario, Valentino and Velvette would probably drift apart—not forever, but for a bit. Velvette probably can't handle Valentino's meltdowns as good as Vox, so she'd likely step back to deal with her own stuff without the extra stress of his.
If Velvette died, Vox would try to handle Valentino's emotions because he's good at not getting caught up in his own. If Vel were murdered, Vox would find it easy to pull Valentino into some revenge plan that would keep them both busy. It'd be a total bloodshed, like "Kill Bill" but with two super angry and sadistic demons. If there were no one to blame, though, it'd be way harder because there'd be no revenge to fill that void, not even slightest bit of agency left in Vox's hands. That might drive him crazy depressive and Val would have to take care of him instead. Vox can't deal with stagnancy and helplessness.
If Valentino died, Vox and Velvette would go after whoever was responsible (if there were anyone involved), and then they'd try to act like everything's normal, like "death happens," and just keep on with their businesses. They'd probably be too scared of falling apart to even say Valentino's name, pretending like he might just show up again. But they're both have enough nerve and audacity to one day just say, "You know, I don't think death is the end. We should see if we can talk to God and make a deal." Even if it's a delusional madman talk, they'd have to at least try.
(it's just from top of my mind, unfortunately I didn't read fanfic because i barely have any fee time :c)

went to a nearby university today since an author whose book I'm reading teaches there and I wanted to ask some questions. wandered until I found something called the deans office and then made a very quick assumption where he might be and asked for directions to that department and the lady there said "oh are you looking for [name], the [job title]? Shes in [room]!" So I just said YES and thanked her and went to [room] where I was just like oh are you [name] and she immediately just said "YES come in!!!" no questions asked she looked bored as fuck and also had the rainbow stuff going on in her room so maybe she was oh what do they call it "enthusiastic about female baldness" but i apologized for intruding and explained that i was directed to you but I'm actually looking to speak to [authors name], and she didnt know who that was, definitely not this department, hmm weird, so we chatted and she looked him up on her computer and asked me about my research which is when I clarified that I'm not a student I just started reading this guy's book last week and realized i happened to be working in the area where he teaches and figured I'd try to speak to him which she thought was super dope so she printed me off a map of the campus and highlighted how to get to him she was really great I wish I hung out with her instead of going to find him and getting shut down hard as fuck the people in his department practically rolled their eyes at me which I absolutely expected but yeah I guess you can just go to universities and talk to faculty so long as they're not also media darlings. So I just been looking up a bunch of people (lesbians. mostly) who do their thing at other universities and have information about things I want to learn about because to be honest I don't really know what school is or life really I just show up places and start asking questions and that seems to be half of the work now the problem is there's this 2 part seminar I really really want to go to about careers in a field of study I'm interested in but its undergraduates only and also invite only but basically I'm thinking of just showing up and acting normal and shaking hands and all of that and by the time they realize I shouldn't be there they'll be like ahh well you're not hurting anyone with your driven curious nature and enthusiasm for learning so sure buddy why dont you stay. I mean how else am I supposed to know if I should sink years of my life into pursuing it? I want to hear the professionals speak to the undergrads and pretend I'm one of their kind so I can really immerse myself in the experience and can from there make an informed decision okay perfect yeah sounds like a plan

Since you're familiar with tokusatsu actors and their journeys into BL, what kinds of careers historically have tokusatsu actors had as they start to get more credits and mature?
Thank you for the ask! This is a great question. It’s something I’ve been curious about for a while, as you know.
Tumblr media
I never get tired of this gif of Seto Toshiki (a Kamen Rider alum with two BLs under his belt) eating cake. (It's from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, which he starred in with Iijima Hiroki of Our Dining Table fame.)
Oh, I should probably say at the outset that I'm talking about the suit transformation type of tokusatsu shows here. Technically the category is broader and also includes kaiju movies, but I'm focusing here on the kind of tokusatsu series in which human characters (or human-like ones) transform into masked heroes. I think that's what you had in mind, Ben, and it's the type of tokusatsu that tends to overlap with the BL world.
Another thing you'll notice is that I'm mostly going to talk about men here. Tokusatsu has been making some progress as a genre when it comes to gender equity, but it still has a long way to go. And since most of the progress that has happened, like the increase in female Riders, has been in the last few years, the actors who played those characters haven't had much of a subsequent career yet.
Now, to your question.
Unfortunately, I haven’t figured out a way to really look at this systematically. So, definitely take my conclusions with a grain of salt. (If anyone reading this knows more about this or has thoughts about how to get more/better info, I'd love to hear them.) The main source of information I have--aside from just soaking stuff up from watching tokusatsu shows and reading toku fans' tumblrs, of course--is looking at toku actors’ entries on MDL and seeing how many roles they’ve gotten, if they’re “guest,” “support,” or “main” roles, and trying to find out about the type of shows and movies they’re in.
One of the biggest weaknesses to this approach as an American viewer is that it's usually hard for me to tell what constitutes a popular or prestigious series or film even if I go to the listings for specific shows/films. I should also note that one thing that biases my “data” (to use the term loosely) is the fact that I’m more likely to look up this information about actors I like. Well, occasionally I’ll also look at info on some sample of actors out of curiosity, like a bunch of lead Ultraman actors’ subsequent careers or something like that. But it's usually more random.
A little background. As you're aware, tokusatsu roles often go to younger actors who don't have much previous experience. They tend to function both as a way of getting a foothold in the industry (building a resume, starting a fanbase, etc.) and as a way of learning on the job. Part of the reason they work so well in this regard is that they have long seasons. Ultraman seasons are typically around 25 episodes long, which is pretty long compared to many shows in Japan, but Kamen Rider and Super Sentai seasons are usually around 50 episodes long. This means two things: a toku part gets you a lot more of the aforementioned work experience than you'd get in other genres, and it provides a solid year of consistent work with additional work to follow (particularly hard to come by in Japan's entertainment industry, from what I understand). The additional work is substantial, too. There are typically post-series TV movies and touring live shows and there are often guest spots on other series in your franchise.
When it comes to landing other roles, as in other types of media, it makes a big difference what type of role you had. This is stating the obvious, I know, but there are some specific ways this works with tokusatsu series, and it relates to who ends up in BLs and in what capacity. So, all of the big three tokusatsu franchises are pretty ensemble-based but they still have distinct leads and some degree of a hierarchy of roles. Ultraman has the strongest leads, Kamen Rider has lead/title Riders and secondary (and often tertiary) Riders, and Super Sentai shows are especially ensemble-y (the word sentai basically means "squad," after all) but they always have some kind of group leader.
When I look up subsequent work by tokusatsu actors who had sizable roles in their toku series--lead roles, or other parts that are what MDL would call "main" roles--what I see most often is a lot of supporting and guest roles in a variety of TV shows and some films. You can usually find a smattering of lead roles as well, but if you look closely they may turn out to be smaller productions (but not always). When it comes to the number/frequency of credits, there's a lot of variation but an average case would be 2-3 such credits per year. Like I mentioned above, it's hard for me to tell how desirable/prestigious/well-paying those guest and supporting roles are. But they don't usually seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel or anything. So, yeah. Lots of these actors have different paths, but this is what I see most frequently.
Given how challenging it is to make a career out of acting in Japan, this is nothing to sneeze at. Despite its relative influence, the Japanese entertainment industry is still comparatively small, and there are only so many opportunities. In that context, regularly getting guest and supporting gigs constitutes a pretty uncommon level of success.
Could these folks support themselves on this amount of work? I often see just a few credits per year, so maybe not. But when I like a one of these actors enough to follow them on socials, it usually seems like they are supplementing those parts with other stuff like stage plays, toku fan appearances, modeling gigs, or other types of performance including music. Even with these different sources of income, some probably still can't live on their entertainment industry pay alone. But it appears that some can.
So that's the most common thing. One less common outcome is leaning really hard into being a tokusatsu actor for life. It's not typical to get significant roles in multiple toku shows, but it does happen. And some actors manage to play the same character in a lot of post-series movies, miniseries, etc. stretching out for years after their actual series. For example, Tsuruno Takeshi, who played Ultraman Dyna's human host Shin Asuka, has been in ten different Ultraman things including his main series, a short series, a lot of TV movies, and a special. Dyna aired in 1997, and his last appearance as Asuka was fairly recent, in 2016. That's almost a 20-year span. Yet Tsuruno has never had a non-Ultraman main character part. (Though this is partly because he seems to have focused more on his music career and related variety show type things post-Dyna.) There are even some actors who are tokusatsu superfans whose whole career plan is centered on the genre from the get-go.
For those who are looking to branch out, there are a lot of trajectories. So I'll try to talk about some of them through a few examples.
Takeda Kouhei
Tumblr media
You probably knew I was going to bring him up. On Kamen Rider Kiva, Takeda's character was important but not the lead (he played the main character's father in the 1980s, in a timeline that ran parallel to the present day one). That was in 2008, when he was 22. Nine years later, in 2017, he was in Kamen Rider Build, in which he was the "tertiary" Rider. This character was a potato farmer-turned-antihero. As tertiary Riders go, he was pretty popular. But Takeda seemed to be mostly hovering at a certain level at that point. Then Old Fashion Cupcake happened. It's significant that he went from playing supporting characters (albeit important ones) to a lead character in OFC. It's also helpful that OFC came out at a point when the prestige of BLs was on the rise. It seems like Takeda has had more consistent and larger parts since then. The difference isn't night and day or anything, but it's observable.
If you look at Takeda's Build costars, Inukai Atsuhiro and Akaso Eiji, here’s what you'll find. Akaso has a similar trajectory to Takeda's only somewhat steeper. His role on Build (the secondary Rider) was a bit bigger, he seemed to get slightly bigger roles overall after Build, and Cherry Magic gave him a significant boost from there. Inukai had a bigger upswing early on followed by slower growth that still had him outstripping both Akaso and Takeda. From what I can tell, his “data” more closely resembles that of Yamada Yuki, who I’ll talk about in a second, though they have different niches.
Suda Masaki
Tumblr media
Suda Masaki was only 16 when he played the main rider in Kamen Rider W in 2009, which is unusually young. (W has a unique premise where two different people inhabit the same Rider, so Suda played a lead rider but so did his costar Kiriyama Renn.) From what I can tell, he seems to have had a pretty organic path to larger and larger roles while varying genres and styles quite a bit. At this point he's definitely a very respected actor. (One interesting bit of trivia: Hagiwara Riku has said Suda is his biggest acting role model.) He's won two Japan Academy Film Prizes and been nominated three more times. I don't know of a more successful ex-tokusatsu lead. Actually, I looked him up for this post to fill in some details and found out for the first time that he also has a pretty successful career as a jpop musician. It's almost annoying that he's that talented in yet another area.
I don't see any indication that Suda has ever played a queer character, though he has definitely done some pretty bromantic stuff. He did kiss a man once in a drama series, but it was for plot reasons and was 100% played for laughs in a gross way. He also played a gender nonconforming character in the 2014 live action version of Princess Jellyfish. (Another bit of trivia: when another live action adaptation of Princess Jellyfish was released in 2018, the same character was played by another former lead Rider, Seto Koji from Kiva.) I wouldn't put it past Suda to play a queer character, if it was for a highbrow movie or something analogous to what Nishijima Hidetoshi has done in What Did You Eat Yesterday?, but I'm also not holding my breath.
Yamada Yuki
Tumblr media
A less extreme case. Yamada was on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. He was the blue member of the team, a soldier-turned-pirate. It may have helped Yamada along later on that Gokaiger is an especially popular Sentai series. Post-Gokaiger, Yamada didn't have any sort of big breakout role that I can find. It just seems like fairly soon after Gokaiger, he started having significant roles in TV dramas and has pretty much continued from there, with some upward momentum but no huge changes. When he was in a drama with Akaso Eiji recently, his part was first billed and a smidge bigger. Yamada's trend line seemed to have a biggish upward swing early and then just a slight slope from there. But I just saw him in something different: he plays the younger member of the minesweeper crew in Godzilla Minus One. I wonder if that will mark any sort of shift for him.
Yamada hasn't played any queer characters as far as I can tell. His Sentai role was shippy as hell, though. It's a tradition among Sentai shows that subtext-level queer ships happen between the red and blue team members, and that's exactly what happened in Gokaiger. Sometimes the subtext pretty much became text. If magazine images from that time are any indication, their relationship seems to have been a promotional angle for the show. There's even one where they seem to be in some kind of high school AU that looks like it's straight out of a BL.
what about women?
I tried looking up a few women I know from tokusatsu roles while I was looking up these and other dudes. Some of them were still in the business, at least. Some were getting the same trickle of guest and supporting parts a lot of men do after a tokusatsu show. A few had a slightly bigger trickle. But many of them seemed to have disappeared from the public eye entirely. Not only are women underrepresented in tokusatsu, and not only are their roles often relatively small and two-dimensional, but it doesn't seem like they get even a slight career boost after these roles.
It's possible this will change for some of the actors who got bigger, more interesting toku roles in recent years. Here's hoping!
The changing relationship between tokusatsu and BL
The relationship between tokusatsu and BL has been changing as BL gains more prestige, like I alluded to when I talked about Takeda Kouhei. There was a time when they seemed to be pretty analogous in terms of how hard it was to get a role and how effective they were as rungs on a career ladder. If you went from being a tokusatsu side character to a BL lead (like Takeda), that was a step up, but only because you were shifting from a supporting spot to a lead one. Tokusatsu leads usually didn't usually do BL or, when they did, only played straight supporting roles. I think it was seen as a lateral move. But now, BL is becoming a very established next step after tokusatsu. It's like BL has moved up in status so that the consensus is that it's above tokusatsu on the ladder, but just by a little bit. It's also kind of an organic transition since we're seeing more queer ships in tokusatsu that, while they mostly happen on a subtext level, are close to being canon (and in some cases, arguably already are). It occurred to me while I was writing this that there's also another type of role that is in a similar zone of accessibility and prestige to both tokusatsu and BL. It's a franchise, not a genre, but with so many movies and such huge casts it almost functions like a genre for the purpose of this discussion. I'm talking about the High&Low movies. If you're a fan of tokusatsu or BL, you'll see actors you know in every High&Low movie and if you're a fan of both, you'll see tons.
Tumblr media
Case in point: Here's our ol’ pal Yamada Yuki. He's in quite a few High&Low installments. If only he’d do a BL and complete the trifecta! The only person I know of offhand who’s done a tokusatsu show, a BL, and a High&Low role is Takeda. I bet there are others, though.
the new (?) prestige tokusatsu
There's another piece to this I should probably point out as well. In recent years there have been some more high-budget, prestigious takes on existing tokusatsu properties. First, Anno Hideaki, who's best known for the Evangelion anime series/films, put out three live action features that are new, well-financed takes on three big tokusatsu properties: Shin Godzilla, Shin Ultraman, and Shin Kamen Rider.
Last year there was also a Kamen Rider series geared toward adults that had higher-than-usual production values called Kamen Rider Black Sun. It did that “you can tell our show is for adults because it's all gritty and grimdark" thing, which I'm not a fan of. But it definitely had its points.
Really distinguished actors starred in both the Shin movies and Black Sun, including Nishijima Hidetoshi, who's about as distinguished as it gets. Nishijima was in both Shin Ultraman (in an important supporting role) and Black Sun (as a co-protagonist--and he's the biggest highlight of the series). So these are examples of toku media that are too prestigious to be a springboard into the industry for most actors.
This seems to be a new phenomenon, though I could be wrong about that. I don’t expect the trend will continue at this pace (after all, so much of it is attributable to Anno alone and I don't think he'll continue down this path indefinitely), but I bet some other shows/movies in this vein will come out sooner or later.
Tumblr media
Here’s Nishijima doing a henshin sequence. He does these moves with such commitment. Is there anything he can't do?
before tokusatsu
As I was writing this, it got me thinking about what actors do before their tokusatsu roles as well as after. It's not uncommon for toku roles to be someone's debut, but that's not really the norm. Even when it is, most of those actors were doing something in the realm of performing or modeling beforehand. I don't usually look at this sort of information as much as I do later roles when I'm investigating toku actors I like. So I looked up some people to try to get a sense of where the actors tend to have done before their toku parts.
There's one starting point that a whole bunch of tokusatsu leads share: winning the Junon Super Boy Contest. When I first saw references to it, I thought, OK, this is some kind of national talent contest. I guess there are probably lots of them. But when I looked for others, I didn't see anything come up. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places or using the right search terms. But I think maybe this contest might be pretty unique in Japan.
It's run by a magazine called Junon and, well, if I describe how it works it's going to sound really familiar to you and anyone else who's seen Utsukushii Kare, because it's pretty much exactly the contest Kiyoi participates in. Like, if it's not what Nagira Yuu was thinking of when she wrote that part of the UK novel, I'll eat my shoe.
A ton of tokusatsu leads won, placed in, or made it to the finals of that contest. The Tokupedia fan wiki even has its own page dedicated to the contest with links to various winners' toku characters. The majority of Junon Super Boy contestants who ended up in a toku series went to Kamen Rider, but there are some Sentai dudes as well and at least one Ultraman lead.
So I guess if Kiyoi had won that contest, he probably would have ended up on Kamen Rider or something. Weird.
Inukai Atsuhiro and Iijima Hiroki both won that contest. Those are the only two Junon Boys (that's what people call the contest winners) who became tokusatsu actors and were on a BL that I know of right off the top of my head. But it seems likely that there are other toku-and-BL or just BL actors who won, placed, or made it to the finals of this contest.
Other dudes who ended up on tokusatsu shows started out in other ways. Some were simply signed to agencies as actors. There's a fair number of them who were in idol groups. (Though when an idol/ex-idol is looking for a gig as a transition into acting, BLs seem to be a more popular choice.) Some mostly did modeling prior to their toku series. Some already had quite a few acting credits, though usually not very big ones. Although he's a Junon Super Boy winner, Inukai had eight other acting credits before Kamen Rider. Takeda had the same number, and he started young--his first credit is for a TV show that came out when he was 10 (though it took another six years to get a second).
I also looked up some women who've had prominent roles in tokusatsu shows, including more recent ones. The most frequent things I found when I looked for information on their pre-toku careers were that they had been models or idols (or both). It's also not uncommon for women in toku roles to be former or present gravure models--basically models who pose in bikinis or comparably revealing outfits.
The coolest thing I found was that Imoto Ayaka, who played Igarashi Sakura/Kamen Rider Jeanne, was an award-winning ballet dancer. Which is not only incredibly cool but makes a lot of sense in terms of preparation for a tokusatsu hero role.
Tumblr media
I mean, just check out this henshin.
Well, this has gotten ridiculously long. Sorry about that. I may have gotten a little carried away. But thanks again for the question.
And now, I have something to write for @wen-kexing-apologist...

I’ve played all the campaigns. This one was weird in a way that I haven’t seen anyone talk about yet. Previously you had a buddy when you did the missions (price & gaz, soap & ghost). But this campaign you are doing a lot of the missions alone.
it's so sad too bc neil, barry, and the gang all acted their little butts off :( they put on an amazing performance and i hope they all know that our only qualms are with the storytelling, not their performances. it's not their fault the campaign was ass. i'm sooooooo curious about what happened because it's not like they don't have the resources to hire good writers. i'm not super interested in speculation, but i'd be sooo interested to actually know what happened.

HI RAT/GATOR!
Saw the asks for requests and my gay transmasc ass can not pass up that opportunity :D
So maybe like Reader get transferred to the 141 but thanks to Laswell it doesn't say anything about Reader being trans(Maybe post-op top surgery because no unsafe binding and on T!!), and one day after a rough mission with everyone they all go to the showers but Reader. Everyone is super confused about where he went off too, so everyone goes off together to find him. After finally deciding to check his room they walk in on Reader giving himself his T injection, as well as him being shirtless? And then it just kinda goes on from there (like your choice if reader freaks out and it gets angsty or its just them all being silly guys) ^^
Also if you do Anons could I be 👾 anon!!
Hope your having a good day :>
Hi sorry this took forever. Also I'd love for you to be my first Anon👾
This is fluff reader is a Transman. Not proof read. Needles are used. Fem alined DO NOT INTERACT! No use of y/n.
It was after a long and grueling mission you all just arrived back at base. Everyone went they're separate ways to shower, eat, and calm down from they're adrenaline rush. As everyone files into the shower, you go to your room to clean up. You get into your small room and to your own bathroom. You take your shirt off, you look in the mirror and see the scars on your chest. You sit down on the sink counter and grab open the small cabinet. You grab a needle and testosterone bottle.
"Hey! Where's M/N? I didn't see him in the showers or in the cafe". Soap says, his voice worried.
"Calm down lad, he's probably in his room. It was a rough mission". Price states. Gaz pipes up.
"Yeah, you saw how tired he was. He's probably just cleaning up in his room. You know he values his alone time."
"Why don't we go see him?!" Exclaimes Soap.
"No. Let the lad relax." Price says in a stern voice, attempting to shut down Soaps idea.
"Sorry I can't hear you over the sound of me going to check on M/N!~" Yells Soap as he runs down the halls of the barrocks.
"Goddamn it." Price gets up and follows Soap down the halls. Gaz gets up and follows Price.
"Y'know I am a bit curious about what M/N is up too." Gas whispers to Price. Price responds by shaking his head in disapproval. Soap bursts into your room and rounds the corner into your bathroom doorway. You freeze, the needle inches away from your arm.
"M/N? What are you doing?! What happened to your chest?!" Soap exclaims. Gaz peaks out from behind Soap, when he sees you his eyes go wide.
"Are you doing drugs?!" Gaz asks as he shoves Soap aside and approaches you.
You roll your eyes and shake your head.
"I'm not doing drugs... I'm doing..." You don't want to respond. Price grabs Gaz and pulls him out of the bathroom.
"Leave M/N alone. He's doing something important, which is none your guy's business." As Price says that Ghost walks in to see what the commotion is.
"Oh, hey M/N are you doing your T shot?"
"Uh yeah I was until these bozos came crashing in."
"Sorry we didn't know where you went and we wanted to check up on you." Says Soap.
"Why do you need testosterone anyway?" Gaz tilts his head as he asks you.
"Because I'm trans that's why."
"Oh." Soap and Gas say in unison.
"How come you two aren't surprised?" Soap asks.
"I kind of had to know I'm Captain after all."
"I walked in on him doing his hormones a couple months ago. I promised not to tell anyone, I wasn't planning on it though, its not my place to share." Says Ghost as he nods his head.
"Sorry for bothering you M/N, come on you muppets, let's leave him be. I'll make sure to have a talk to you guys about knocking as well." Price says.

Hello, it's been a while since I visited your blog, as the end of school and the beginning of adulthood have taken up more of my time recently. Nevertheless, I'm glad to revisit your blog and see new posts. It brings back memories of the old days when I was in the tokyo revengers fandom, spending weekends reading the manga and some fanfics on tumblr.
I don't think this question has been asked before, but I've always been curious about the personality of the author. I know there are descriptions in your posts, but I'd love to hear more about it in your own words. It seems more intriguing to me.
I'm not sure when you'll read this or what time it is, but I hope you continue to be as creative as you've been. Your posts motivated me to return to writing and develop my talent in that. ♡︎
hello again anon! welcome back to this little corner of the internet, I'm glad to you thought of here enough to return ^^ ahh the transition from school to workplace is definitely not easy, remember to be kind to yourself! super nice ask, yes I most definitely will keep writing as and when I have time, and I'm super happy to hear that my rants into the abyss have motivated you :) take care of yourself anon!
Also if I'm interpreting this correctly, I think you're asking about the personality of the reader? Do let me know if I'm wrong though, I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have!
Masterlist
A Friend in Me: Chapters 1 | 2‎ | 3
I have done the personality of Boss from the Red Dragonflies AU here previously, so I'll talk more about the nameless reader from A Friend In Me/Going Home here!
I always imagined reader to be this rather socially awkward and emotionally sensitive individual, yet very friendly and easygoing person. Its not like you don't want to have friends - its not easy being the outcast in school, having to be the one looking in all the time and knowing that you weren't going to be picked for teams during physical education class, having to eat lunch alone. Not because the rest of your classmates and schoolmates hate you per se(before the arrival of your Toman boys and their interferrence, at least), but rather because barely anyone knows you exist.
You have never been very good at putting yourself out there despite wanting to know people and make friends, and when you do, you're always nervous and anxious. And this would lead to you believing that even the mere act of reaching out to others makes you a burden. You can't quite trust others on their word even when they were happy to make friends with you, continuing to think that they're putting on an act out of sympathy for you, and at the end of the day, you're simply troubling them.
Of course your confidence increases by leaps and bounds after meeting your Toman boys and seeing that you are actually capable of being sociable and putting yourself out there, and even after the same delinquents you called friends stripped you of your newfound confidence around your schoolmates, this doesn't deter you from attempting to find your own way in the world, much to the boys' chagrin.
In general, you would also be a pretty carefree and easygoing for the most part, happy to just be included in whatever that is going on. The reader I have in my mind when writing is always up for anything that her boys suggest, and despite your rather quiet nature, your sense of adventure hasn't been lost. Be it motorcycle rides in the middle of the night, or something more gut-sinking like watching the boys spar, you never really said no. And though you said you were okay with it, the Toman founders would try never to pick a fight in front of you - god only knows how you would react and they wouldn't want to have to deal with that.
Most definitely an easily manipulated person, you rely heavily on the emotions of the people around you to try and tell if you are being a good friend and if they liked you enough to keep you around. Which makes you susceptible to being influenced by the merest suggestion of unhappiness or anger at your actions, falling over yourself to correct yourself in a bid to stop that friend from leaving you. Even when you do eventually start to stand up for yourself - e.g. when you have someone to defend - enough pressure usually can still get you to fold like a wet paper towel, and it would be interesting to find out when you will finally draw the line.
It is pretty unfortunate that being the pushover you are is part of the reason why the yandere Toman boys like you so much (because you do whatever they want without complaint and pamper them in return for the bare minimum), so it will be a balancing game to try and prevent temper flaring; these are delinquents that you are dealing with at the end of the day, and even if they would hesitate to turn their fists directly at you, the darling of their world, everyone else around you is free real estate the moment you start misbehaving in their eyes. And boy, it'll be a matter of whether you give in first, or someone dies first.

I just realized we all technically have the power to ask any questions on this site, and I never got to doing it. So....
[Points S.E.E.S evoker at you]
Who are the fictional characters you ship your mutuals to? Doesn't have to be necessarily their self-ship. I am deadass curious. Spill the tea, Imbibitor's lover—
We can lower that down, brynn- no need to get all aggressive now-
*cough* ANYWAY!
I'll list them down below, and if they're not accurate or you're actually gonna fight them rather than making out with the characters that i chose then yeah, that is probably my plan 😀 /silly
Oh and! I'll mostly be using genshin and hsr characters because yeah-
@beloved-brynn -> heizou and ratio. NGL, YOU + HEIZOU, OR YOU + RATIO, OR EVEN THE THREE OF YOU WOULD TOTALLY BE SO FUNNY AND CHAOTIC 😭☝️ they can counter your wild statements while also being the (somewhat) saner one but could also say smth wild as well. I could see you and one of em (possibly ratio) be like "oh yeah, the other day, i was eating my lunch while watching that gorey movie-" "what." "yeah, i was hungry at that time, so like why not yk-" (this is based on my real experience guys, guess which dialogue is me lmao)
@meimeimeirin -> hmmmm, koh zhongli maybe? Okay, let me tell you the reason why... it's simply because she NEEDS someone who can pamper her! I don't know where that conclusion came from, but yeah. Anyway, if we're talking about other characters, then i think welt, or even zayne from lnd could fit. Basically: "I need someone older, just a little bit colder." lmao (oh, mochi, did this conclusion came up because you know rin's the youngest in her family and now you ship her with men older (and more experienced) than her? whaatt... ofc not, haha-)
@leftdestiny-posts -> absolutely cannot see them with anyone other than dottore. Cute and kind but is secretly crazy "i want to watch the world burn" x The human version of the word 'crazy' "as you wish, my love" would be their dynamic, i suppose...? WAIT OH! I can actually see shiro with ayato or maybe sunday! I bet they would like such a cute, innocent-looking darling to control, but then they would get so surprised and maybe super interested into trying to control the darling despite how crazy the darling actually is- (shiro ily, if ur crazy then we can be crazy together 💐)
@navxry -> arlechinno, and maybe black swan. Yeah, that's it. No explanation needed.
@jessamine-rose -> hmmm, would it be weird if i say capitano? I don't know why or how did i get to that conclusion, but yeah. And maybe blade? IDK WHY I'M PARTNERING HER WITH CRAY CRAY MEN- SORRY JESS, I (subconsciously) THINK YOU CAN LIKE CALM THEM OR SMTH AJFIAWOF-
@stardust-for-your-soul -> funnily enough, i can see her with aventurine. They'll say sweet words that probably have a double meaning and also probably have a teeny tiny bit (maybe a lot lmao) of 'enemies to lovers' moment. (wow, cherry, your new bf is a gambler- /smack). But anyway, i could also see her be with march 7th who is so bubbly and sweet, and i'd think cherry would love to tease march hehe
@teabutmakeitazure -> ACTUALLY NGL DAN HENG????? He would listen to her ramblings and also help her write her fics. It just sounds so cute in my opinion lol. Other than dan heng (who is obviously the best choice), zuri would probably look into red flag charas, like... yeah, aventurine- but still tho, dan heng! But i get what zuri is thinking tho, red is such a sexy color- /smack
@harmonysanreads -> ngl alhaitham or kaeya would be cute if paired up with her! Idk where did kaeya come from, but when i thought about it, instantly "cute!". I think, harmony has this really 'weird' calming aura that could make those two charas just fell in love with how comfortamble she can make them feel. BUT LIKE IDK THO-
@fishanonishere -> Albedo...... i think? Fish, i know what you are- i mean like as in how chaotic and just how 'what in the world is this person thinking???' you are. With how calming and 'would jump into any interesting topic' he is, i think fish and him could be such a cute duo. Fish's ramblings and their drawings are some of the things that make him really interested in fish

Shotgun (Frankie Morales x f! reader)
Tumblr media
Part 2: Passenger
Pairing: Frankie Morales x f! Reader
Rating: Explicit
Summary: The last thing you expected coming to your neighbor's Halloween party was to meet a mysterious pilot with a lot of joints.
Content: Drug use, fingering, dirty talk, partying, Halloween festivities, Benny being dumb
A/N: Happy (Belated) Halloween!! I thought I'd put out a one shot featuring our favorite pilot! Please reblog and comment!
He’s not from around here.
He can’t be. You know every single person at this party with the exception of him and his friends.
You showed up at this party after the last one you went to was a bust. Your friend Lexi introduced you to a guy she swore up and down was super hot, super rich, super respectful and super single. He was halfway there. At a party hosted at his swanky apartment that was not fit for just one person, he talked you into coming upstairs to look at his record collection and immediately tried to paw at you. You weren’t a stranger to a fun hookup but it this guy loved to hear himself talk and hadn’t asked you about yourself in over an hour.
Right as you were fighting him off, his girlfriend slammed the door open, and you left them to their lover’s quarrel.
Another Halloween night for the books, right?
Until you showed up at your neighbor Jack’s party after he begged you to come out. He had a thing for your best friend Lexi, and after the setup from hell she owed you.
You expected to take a shot, take a hit off of whatever anyone was offering and then head across the hall and go home. You were happily mistaken.
You went on the balcony for some fresh air and there were a couple of guys scattered out there. You weren’t trying to eavesdrop, but you overheard a bunch of shit about guns so of course you turned to look at them.
A dirty blonde with boyish good looks and a werewolf mask in his hand looked back at you. “Are those wings real?”
You were confused for a minute until you remembered your Halloween ensemble. White strappy gladiator sandals that worked up your calves and a short tight white tube dress that made you look like Posh Spice’s inverse. You had two straps around your shoulders to hold your wings and a fuzzy halo atop your head. Remembering what you were wearing, you weren’t feeling as confident and sexy as you had earlier; you felt slightly embarrassed.
“Leave her alone, Ben.”
You opened your mouth to come up with a retort until his friend came to your defense from the staring contest you were having with the group of men. He had no costume on or near him, but he didn’t need one because who would want to cover up that face?
He had dark curly hair that had light up devil horns adorned onto of him. The slight light on the balcony highlighted his strong nose and scattered facial hair. He looked not only weary of his friend’s bullshit but also had a tiredness that made you curious. Was he having fun? Could you help him with that?
“Fish, I’m just teasin’.” His friend winked at you. He probably assumes that he can get away with his good looks often but tonight was not the night.
“Well, Benny considering you were just out here bragging about your rifle collection I’m sure that’s not what she wanted to hear.” The handsome stranger came to your defense again.
“I’m sure that ain’t the case. Hey angel, you wanna see my rifl—“ Before Benny could say anything else, another friend in the group, a stocker man with blonde hair knocked him upside the head.
“Knock it off.” The handsome stranger they called Fish sternly pointed at him.
“I’ll bring him inside. Sorry, he’s had too much to drink.” The stocky blonde and their group of friends went inside, leaving a trail of Benny’s complaints. Fish stayed outside, though. Leaning up towards the balcony, lighting a joint that he’d just pulled behind his ear.
“Sorry about that again.” He gestured towards you, looking back towards the sky assuming the conversation was over.
Does it have to be? You thought.
“So, is your costume a fish?” You asked him, trying to lighten the mood as he smiled through his exhale. It exposed a dimple on the side of his face.
“Nah, it’s a long story.”
“Then what is your name?” Why the hell not, right?
“Frankie. And yours? I assume it isn’t Angel. God, that sounds like a line Benny would’ve given you if we left him out here.”
You smile back at him and tell him your name. He shakes your hand. Firm, big.
“I’m sorry about Benny. I hope we didn’t fuck up your night.” Frankie said.
“My night was already beyond fucked.” You sighed.
“Anything a joint can fix?” He held up the small roll of paper to you, showing off that gorgeous dimple again. You took the joint from him as you brought it to your lips. Before you could even get to your purse, he’d brought out a lighter and placed it to the joint. The illumination of the flames brought out his dark eyes as he watched you inhale.
It tasted divine.
For the rest of the night you gravitated towards Frankie, people watching, laughing, and smoking.
You’d gotten to know him a bit during the smoke and banter — he was a pilot in the military, he lives with Benny and the stocky blonde that was Benny’s older brother Will. He knows how to roll a joint perfectly and has a story or two about cocaine but he “doesn’t touch that shit anymore.”
He had little to say but when he did, he’d ask you questions about yourself and make sure you were having a good time and that your cup was full.
So the mystery that surrounded him wasn’t in vain, but you were also finding that you wanted to know more about him and the attraction wasn’t just in his enigma.
The two of you got closer throughout the night. There was an expectation that the two of you would sit next to each other, that he would light the joint for you, and when he slinked his arm behind you on the couch you didn’t complain. You’d wished he’d just gone for it.
The party had trickled down to a few people left including Jack and Lexi concocting another drink in the kitchen together to use any excuse to put their hands all over one another. Benny and Will had already gone home, bringing Frankie’s other friend Santiago with him as they greeted each other—he speaks Spanish, another thing you’ve learned about Frankie.
Blissed out on particularly potent pot and his scent, you let yourself fall back on the couch and felt Frankie’s big hand cover your shoulder, rubbing it. You looked up at him, grinning openly as he matched you—the sides of his eyes crinkling.
Amid your beaming, you felt one of the crystalized facial gems on your face fall into the couch. You’d forgotten you even had it on. Ever the gentleman, Frankie dug towards the couch and found the small jewel. He moved towards your face, placing it back with his thumb. He held your head in his hand, rubbing at your cheek.
Your heart was racing. You wanted him to kiss you so god damn badly but instead, Jack had loudly exclaimed that the party was over, Lexi scurrying to his bedroom as she gave you a wink. Frankie’s hand didn’t leave your face.
“Can I take you home?” He whispered.
“I live across the hall.” You answered. He licked his plush lips before he responded. You beat him to the punch.
“Can I walk you to your car?” You asked.
And soon you found yourselves in the parking garage of your apartment building, sitting in Frankie’s large truck as Fleetwood Mac softly played in the background. He rolled another joint for the both of you even though you had insisted he didn’t have to, feeling bad you’d already had a lot of his stuff. He wanted you to consider it a parting gift. Your heart sank, wondering if this was the last time you’d see him.
He took off the devil horns, putting them into the console as he reached for a worn out baseball cap.
“You’re not from around here, are you?” You asked him.
“You don’t wanna know where I’m from, trust me.” He licked the joint to seal it, handing it over to you.
“Try me.”
“Not here. As much as a doofus Benny can be, he and Will are helping me out. I need a new start. I actually just got here today. I guess Halloween is the day to do that, right before November—a new month. You get to pretend your somebody you’re not and all that bullshit.” He lights you up as you inhale.
“I don’t know why you’d pretend you aren’t you, but I get it. I wore this outfit hoping I’d be this confident, bad ass hottie tonight but I feel like a total spaz.”
“You look beautiful.” Frankie looked right into your eyes and you felt yourself blush.
“Thanks. I don’t know, this is super cliche but I just always have bad Halloweens. I wasn’t expecting this one to be different.”
“Different how? Sitting in a scruffy stranger’s truck getting high?” He snorted.
“You’re not scruffy.” You answer, but you look closely towards his patchy beard. “Okay, you are, but you’re also beautiful too. You also let me follow you around like a lost puppy all night.”
“I promise you, the pleasure was all mine.” He had the joint between his fingers, inhaling as his fingers fidgeted. You moved towards him from the passenger seat as he watches you, completely still.
The two of you are close, you can feel the heat radiating from his lips and he still hasn’t inhaled. “Shotgun?” You ask.
He takes hold of your chin, opening your mouth as he pours the smoke into you.
You inhale and push it out.
His lips meet yours. Slow and methodical at first, as if he’s trying to take his time savoring you and the way you taste. You feel the same likewise. He gingerly enters his tongue into your mouth as he massages at yours, with you letting out an involuntary moan. He groans at the noise, moving his hand from your jaw to the back of your head.
The two of you remained there kissing for a while, you can’t tell if it’s minutes or hours, but you’re now on his lap straddling him and one of his hands is on your waist.
You can tell by the way he holds the back of your head and your hair that he’s trying to be gentle, he wants to hold back and be a gentleman. He needs a push.
You rut into his lap, slow and syrupy as he sighs into you. He grabs at your hair, ripping the halo off of your head and throwing it into his backseat. He kisses you with more want — hungrier and needier for you as your grinds become faster.
He pushes up into you and you feel how big he really is, his motions shaking your body as your dress runs up exposing your white thong.
He looks down and rubs at your crotch, grinning at your whines.
“I made you this wet, baby?” He asks you. “I haven’t even fucked you yet and you’re already soaked.”
“Fuck, Frankie. Please fuck me.” You beg, no more beating around it. You want him to know you want him bad.
“I’m going to, sweetheart.” He says. “But not yet.”
“First,” He says, moving the underwear to press circles into your clit. “I’m gonna take you out on a nice date. Buy you some dinner, maybe we’ll see a movie. We’ll get dessert afterwards or whatever you want.”
“But then,” He moves his large two fingers down to your aching pussy, breaching into you as you cry out. “You’re mine. I’m gonna fuck you so hard and fuck this tight little pussy until it explodes on my cock. I like you. So I’m gonna take my time with you.”
“I—like you—too.” You say breathlessly into his mouth as he kisses you. You feel him all over. Inside you, around you, in front of you. Completely engulfed. You couldn’t forget Frankie now if you tried.
“Yeah? I’m glad.” He looks back down at his fingers inside of you, curving them to access a spot that makes you arch into him.
As he keeps moving faster into you, you feel yourself begin to tense up. He buries himself in your neck, kissing at you hard and marking at your neck.
“I’m—s-so-close.” You moan into him, grinding your hips into his fingers to soothe your ache.
He moves into you at an even more rapid pace, the sounds of you filling the car. Frankie groans listening to you.
“You’re close, huh? Just think about me filling you up next time I see you. I can’t wait to see how you take my cock. Are you gonna let me fuck my cum into you, baby? Can I make you mine?”
You whine Frankie’s name as your hips stutter. You cum on his fingers, hard and the comedown takes a moment as you breathe heavily on his chest. When you come to, you feel his large hands running through your hair and planting peppered kisses on you.
You look up at him, and he smirks at you with a bashful smile. Planting another kiss on your lips.
“Best Halloween I’ve had in a long, long time.” You panted. He laughed.
“Same here. Best night I’ve had in a long time, honestly.” He says, stroking at your hair.
“So it’s okay if I call you sometime?” He asks, almost nervous. As if you would say no.
“This is the easiest yes I’ve had in such a long time.” You smile at him.
You exchange numbers and let him head home. But you lay in bed for the rest of the night until you doze off thinking about the handsome, mysterious man you can’t wait to get to know better.

Ps. this was getting SO long I need to make a pt. 2 that I will post ASAP!! I love this and I feel like it needs a series dedicated to it heheh
PART 2!
Tumblr media
Rebecca is standing in the boys locker room pacing, she keeps checking her phone and muttering unintelligible words to herself. Ted walks in and sees her.
"Well either I'm late or you're sure down here early! Mornin' boss!" He says.
Rebecca is a little startled and turns to Ted.
"Oh! Ted, good morning." She gets distracted and looks back down at her phone and Ted gives her a look. "Oh sorry, I wanted to ask, do you have lunch plans today?"
"Well, Beard and I were going to do a sandwich switch but I ended up givin' it to one of the kids playin football this morning on account of they forgot their lunch at home and-"
"Great!" Rebecca cuts in. "I will meet you by the front door at 2."
"I think this is great, I think we should do lunchtime with the boss more often! We can play," Ted stops to think for a second and snaps his fingers. "Worst movie you've ever seen in theaters and best movie you've seen! Speakin of which, I went to the movies this weekend and-"
Rebecca cuts him off.
"Ted, I am also inviting Higgins and Keeley so there will be no 'lunchtime with the boss'."
"Ah! Great! Love me some Keeley and Higgie in the afternoon! So, what's the occasion?"
Rebecca is distracted by her phone again and doesn't hear Ted.
"Boss?" She looks up at him "You good? You seem a little wired for this early in the morning."
"Yes, I'm fine, not wired at all. And I have some visitors coming this afternoon I'd like you to meet." She looks back down at her phone.
Ted goes to speak and Rebecca cuts him off.
"I have to get going, see you at 2!" She says briskly walking out of the locker room.
Up in her office, Rebecca is still pacing, her eyes glued to her phone and Keeley walks in.
"Good morning!" She says, excitedly. She notices Rebecca is distracted and raises an eyebrow at her. "OI! What are you looking at?" She walks over to Rebecca and tries to look at her screen.
Rebecca quickly locks her phone and pulls it away.
"Nothing."
"Oh come on!" Keeley pleads
"I'll tell you later," Rebecca says. "Are you around this afternoon for lunch?"
Keeley pauses to think.
"Good, I have some visitors coming I'd like you to meet. Front doors at 2, okay?"
Keeley's eyes light up.
"Who's coming?! Is that what you're looking at! Is it a new boyfriend?!"
Rebecca gives Keeley a glare, she doesn't talk about her love life with anyone, as hard as Keeley tries.
"2 o'clock." Rebecca says as she sits down at her desk.
Higgins walks in and greets Rebecca and Keeley.
"Higgins, you're coming to lunch with Keeley, Ted and myself. Front doors at 2." She says without looking up from her computer screen.
"Oh I'd be delighted!"
"Rebecca has some guests coming she wants us to meet." Keeley says playfully and gives Higgins a wink.
"Oh," Higgins says with a curious smile on his face.
"I'm very busy this morning so I will see you both at 2." Rebecca gets up and ushers them out and closes the door. Once the door closes she takes a deep, nervous breath and checks her phone again.
That morning and early afternoon were less than productive, Rebecca locked herself in her office and couldn't do anything but obsessively check her phone.
2pm rolls around and Rebecca checks herself out in the mirror, fixes her hair and smooths out her dress a few times. She takes a deep breath and exhales trying to calm her nerves. She grabs her bag and jacket and heads downstairs.
At the end of the hallway she sees Ted, Keeley and Higgins standing around waiting for her. The door behind them opens and they turn to see who walked in. Rebecca hears a voice politely say "Hi there, I'm looking for Rebecca,"
Ted looks down the hall and points to her. "That there would be the boss."
You walk through the crowd and your eyes meet hers from down the hall. Tears begin to form in both of your eyes when you see each other. The moment is interrupted when you hear tiny footsteps run down the hall accompanied by "MUMMYYYY!!!"
Sophia, your four year old daughter, runs to Rebecca and jumps into her arms. Rebecca picks her up, spins her around and squeezes her and litters her face with kisses.
"Oh I missed you." She says quietly into her ear as she holds her close.
You walk up to the both of them, a few tears fall from your eyes as Rebecca wraps her free arm around you and you wrap your arms around the both of them. You see tears falling from her eyes as she pulls you in for a kiss. You feel a wave of relief wash over the both of you as your lips meet for the fist time in nearly six months. Rebecca looks lovingly at Sophia and you can't help but feel like your heart is whole for the first time in a long time.
"Mummy, are you and mommy sad?" She asks puzzled.
"No love," Rebecca says "we're very happy." She says as fixes Sophie's shirt.
"Then why are you crying?" She asks.
"Sometimes baby," you say "people cry when they're sad, but, they also cry when they're happy."
"Oh, okay!" She says as she wraps her arms around Rebecca's neck and squeezes her.
You can see Rebecca's body relax as she closes her eyes, places her hand on the back of Sophia's head and hugs her back. You wrap your arm around Rebecca and place your hand on her hip and place your other hand on Sophia's back. You look up at Rebecca and look at every inch of her face. Her beautiful smile, the way her eyelashes gently brush against her cheeks when her eyes are closed. The little lines around her mouth and the corners of her eyes, her soft blond hair, her smooth skin. You take in every single thing you possibly can and try to commit it to your memory.
You hear a squeal from down the hall and look, you completely forgot there were other people watching your reunion.
Keeley is digging her nails into Higgins in excitement as he tries to keep squeals of pain back. You chuckle at them and look back at Rebecca, who opens her eyes and sees the group gawking at the three of you. She reaches her hand out and you take it into yours and you walk towards them.
"Ted, Keeley, Leslie," Rebecca begins, "this is my wife, y/n," Keeley lets out squeals of excitement as she lets go of Higgin's arm and he sighs in relief. "And this here," she gestures to the toddler in her arms, "is our daughter, Sophia."
"YOU'RE MARRIED?! WITH A KID?!" Keeley screams "But you don't wear a ring!!!"
She smiles and shrugs her shoulders and looks at you and you smile back. You both knew it would be easier and there would be less questions if she didn't wear it, and you didn't mind.
"Well I have about a million and one questions" Ted speaks, " but lets start off with, what's the best movie-"
Rebecca cuts him off. "Why don't we save the questions until we get to lunch? Y/n and Sophie are probably starving, they just got off of a long flight and I'm sure they want to go sit down."
"Yes please" you say, looking lovingly at your wife.
"Leslie, do you mind driving Ted and Keeley, I'm afraid there's not enough room in my car with the car seat."
You look up at Rebecca and your face is beaming. Even though having the car seat is a bare-minimum kind of effort, you know she spent a good amount of time last night getting it ready, making sure every strap was perfectly in place. You know how excited she was for you guys to come and you know she spent the whole ride to work this morning staring at the car seat, wishing the day would move faster.
"Sure, not a problem at all."
You walk to the car and you hear Higgins mention something about ignoring the mess and pushing aside dirty socks and gym bags as you get into the car and Rebecca puts the baby in her car seat and hands her a new toy to keep her preoccupied for the ride.
She walks to the other side of the car and gets in next to you, closes the door and the driver pulls away. You both look at each other for a moment and she wraps her arms around your neck and pulls you in, nuzzling her face into your neck. She inhales deeply, the scent of your skin filling her nose as you feel tears on your shoulder. You pull back and look at her, she looks up at you with bright green, teary eyes. God, you missed looking into her eyes. You wipe tears away with your thumb as she purses her lips and studies your face.
"I missed you, so much." She says as she looks deeply into your eyes.
"I missed you too." You say as your eyes fill with tears.
You look back at Sophia and see that she's distracted by her toy and the city whizzing by. You turn back to Rebecca and you both lean in and your lips connect. She slides her hand up your neck to the back of your head and gently holds onto your hair as you hold the back of her head and pull her into you as closely as possible. You feel her tongue caress your bottom lip and you part your lips to let her in. Her tongue explores your mouth as if it was the first time and you do the same. You feel her heartbeat increase as her chest is pressed against yours and you begin to breathe heavily. The kiss becomes more passionate as Rebecca puts her other hand on your hip and pulls you in closer. You slide your other hand up the side of her dress past the middle of her thigh and hold her tight. The whole world fades away, it's just the two of you and your love for each other that exists for this moment.
You're interrupted when you hear Sophie's little voice.
"Mummy?"
You slide your hand out from Rebecca's dress and your lips part, your foreheads rest gently against one another as you both smile and chuckle lightly.
"Yes love?" Rebecca says, looking over at the toddler who's looking out the window.
"Why do they drive weird here?"
You both look at each other and laugh. Rebecca looks at Sophia and you see guilt in her eyes.
"She's gotten so big," she says quietly.
"I know" you say as you look at Sophie whose attention hasn't left the window.
Rebecca looks at you, more tears and guilt in her eyes.
"Oh honey," you say.
"I missed so much," she starts to say as tears roll down her face.
You pull her in for a hug and gently rub her back.
"Don't do that, it's okay," you say trying to comfort her as she gently cries. "I know, but it's not forever, it's just temporary.
"Three and a half years doesn't feel temporary." She says as she pulls back and looks into your eyes.
You bring your hand up to her face to wipe away the tears streaming down her cheeks and look into her eyes.
"I know." Your heart breaks seeing her filled with so much guilt and sadness, tears begin to form in your eyes. "But soon it will just be a memory and we'll all be together."
She nods, not convinced, but you can tell the hope is all she has to cling to.
You pull up to the restaurant and Rebecca quickly wipes away her tears, you wipe away a mascara mark from under her eye and she smiles at you as you hold her face.
"You look beautiful by the way." You say, your thumb gently stroking her face.
She gently blushes and goes to get out of the car. You reach over into the car seat and begin to unbuckle Sophia. Rebecca opens the door on the other side and takes her out and puts her on the ground and takes hold of her hand. You get out of the car and the three of you walk into the restaurant.
"Table for 6 for Rebecca." She says.
The hostess brings you to your table and Rebecca slides into the U shaped booth. Sophia hops in next to her and you sit next to Sophia at the end of the booth. You hand Sophia her drawing pad and crayons and she excitedly grabs them and starts drawing.
Ted, Keeley and Higgins walk in, Keeley slides in next to Rebecca, Ted and Higgins follow.
"Okay can we ask questions NOW?" Keeley exclaims as she settles in.
Rebecca looks at you and you give her a nod. Rebecca playfully rolls her eyes and looks at Keeley.
"Yes, now you can ask questions."
Ted, Keeley and Higgins all begin to talk at the same time and Rebecca cuts them off.
"One at a time! Christ." She laughs as she looks at you. "Keeley, you go first."
"How long have you been MARRIED?! How did you meet?!" She lowers her voice a little and leans in "what's the sex like?! It has to be hot."
Rebecca's face turns a little red and you burst out laughing. Rebecca looks at you and you can tell she's asking you if you want to answer the questions or to let her.
"Go ahead" You say smiling at her.
"Three years, we met in New York and I'm not answering the last question."
You make eye contact with Keeley and give her a thumbs up and nod your head, making the three of them laugh. You see Rebecca begin to turn around and you stop but can't help yourself from laughing.
"You're a little prat!" She says to you with a laugh as she playfully shoves you.
She looks over at Ted and gestures to him.
"How 'bout we do an ice breaker!" Rebecca rolls her eyes as he continues "okay y/n, best movie you've ever seen in theaters and worst movie you've ever seen in theaters?"
You pause to think. "Best movie, Spider Man, No Way Home, opening night."
"Oh opening night, you gotta see those kinda of movies on opening night, the crowd gets crazier than a road lizard. Gotta love seeing the multiverse gettin' all mixed up so they can beat their respective enemies together." Ted says.
"Worst movie," you say, thinking, "Vampires Suck."
"Well I don't know that one,"
"You're better off, it sucked. No pun intended." You say
"Well I love intentional puns, like that one time-" Ted continues as Rebecca cuts him off.
"Leslie?"
"Uh, which one of you, you know," as he gestures to Sophia.
"I gave birth to her" you say with a laugh "Sophie was about six months old when Rebecca and I met."
You look down at your daughter, still scribbling across her pad, unaware of everything else going on around her.
"So how did you really meet?" Keeley interjects. "Saying New York is a bull-" she stops herself and looks down at the toddler. "Bull crap answer." She says carefully.
Rebecca looks over at you and you take the reigns.
"Well I had just given birth to Soph about six months before, so my girlfriends wanted to take me out for a girls night since I hadn't done literally anything since having her. So we got rooms at a crappy hotel, dressed to the nines and went to the bar in the Ritz-Carlton." You say jokingly emphasizing the fancy-ness as Rebecca rolls her eyes at you with a chuckle.
"So we were having drinks, and having a good time and I see Rebecca walk in and sit at the bar. Immediately I was like 'damn, she's a good looking woman.' And of course my friends saw the way I looked at her and were teasing me about it. Then whoever she was meeting came and sat with her and I stopped looking over because a) I didn't think I had a chance in hell with her and b) she was with someone so, that was that. So we hung out, had a few drinks, laughed, had a great time and I notice the person she was with leave money for the bartender and leave. She looked disappointed and I felt so bad. So one of my girlfriends went up to the bar and chatted her up and she came over and hung out with us."
You look at Rebecca, she seems satisfied with your response as she puts her arm around you.
"Oh come on!! I need the WHOLE story!!" Keeley begs.

Agency informant Izaya
"Izaya, were you ever in the Port Mafia?" Asks Atsushi, Izaya shakes his head. They were sat on the sofa, Izaya lounging back tossing a small ball in his hands.
He and Atsushi had been going over a case, with Atsushi taking notes for later.
"I've worked with them on plenty of occasions, but no I never joined." He gives him a sly look "Why? Do I look like a criminal to you?"
He chuckles watching Atsushi quickly stammer out apologises. Izaya shakes his head fondly. "I'm teasing. I know why you'd think that, it's not like my job is entirely legal."
Atsushi nods, relieved. "Can I ask why you didn't join. Or is that too far?" Izaya smiles, tossing the ball up again. "Oh that's easy, it sounded boring."
"Eh?"
"That and the job security sucks." Looking at Atsushi's confused face, Izaya grinned and sat up. There was a gleam in his eye, all tell tale signs he was about to go on one of his monologues again.
Atsushi puts his notebook down, and gestures for him to begin.
"You see Atsushi, when you join an organisation like the Port Mafia, they basically own your soul. Or at least they'll act like they do. You have to do whatever they want, or you're dead. And that shit gets old in a hurry."
Dazai, who was curious as to what Izaya and Atsushi were up to, chuckles and sits with them. "I can't say I've heard anyone describe it like that before."
Izaya snorts "when you get woken up at 3am because the boss needs you to decode this super important intel. That mind you, is going to take you 4 hours, but it needs to be done right now.
The whole fearing for your life if you step out of line, suddenly doesn't matter to you so much."
Atsushi blinks "that... Sounds really specific. Did you really do that?"He asks, concerned. Izaya nods, ruffling Atsushi's hair.
"More than I'd like to admit. Frankly when Kunikida told me the hours for helping out here I could've kissed him than and there."
He laughs as Dazai yells loudly. "Kuuuniiikida! Don't kiss Izaya!" Kunikida, not even looking up from his paperwork replies "no promises."
Atsushi laughs along with Izaya as Dazai dramatically falls onto the floor. "Meanies! You're all meanies!"
Kunikida sighs at his boyfriends antics, walks over and kisses his head. Dazai sighs happily "you're the best Kunikida." Kunikida chuckles "I thought so."
He looks at Izaya "I will have to decline your offer, I'm a taken man." Izaya wipes fake tears "I see, thank you anyway kind sir."
Atsushi pats his shoulder "there there." Izaya smiles at him as Dazai sits back on the sofa. "Is there really nothing Mori could've offered you?" Asks Dazai, curious for all times sake.
Izaya shakes his head. His tone becoming more serious. "While there's a lot I do that seems the same, fundamentally it's not. You couldn't offer me anything to be that man again."
Dazai nods, understanding in his eyes. "Too far?" He asks with a small hesitant smile. From all of them Izaya was probably the most open about his past, despite not talking about it much.
That didn't mean it didn't hurt, they were all hurt deep down. Izaya smiles back at him, thankful. "No, you're good." He says, and he means it.
"Well, for what it's worth, I'm glad you're here with us. Even if you haven't technically joined, your still one of us." Says Atsushi and Izaya smiles.
"I'm glad too."

Book Club - Eddie Munson x Reader
Summary: Eddie doesn't expect to see you in the fantasy section at the Hawkins library. He has to take his chance while he has it, even if it means telling a little white lie that you're far too interested in.
feedback is greatly appreciated! comment, reblog, talk in the tags, send me a message, tell me what you think!
Tumblr media
Contrary to popular belief, Eddie Munson visits the library on a regular basis. He frequents the deep fantasy section, and even if he'll never admit it, he has a carefully planned out thought process as to which novel he'll bring home next.
It's a little checklist, the components measured being:
1.) Time since last return: has it been sitting there forever? Could he risk not taking it home right away? Or could he put it out of its misery?
2.) Time since arrival: is it a new book? Is he going to die without the knowledge it contains? Or can he let the hype around it die down?
3.) Previous affiliations: Is it a sequel to a book he really liked? Is it a prequel to a book he's never read? Will he be confused without reading another book first?
Sometimes, though, he just has to go with his gut. And his gut is currently telling him that he needs the book he'd passed up last week, a recently published deep fantasy novel heavily circling around dragons. He's loved dragons for years, since the moment he caught a saturday morning cartoon about their adventures around a fantasy realm. He turns the corner into the shelves where he knows the book is sitting, a confident spring in his step as the leather of his jacket bounces against his chest. He stops dead in his tracks, though, when he sees a very familiar cover, the book splayed open in your hands as you flipped through the pages.
You hear the commotion he makes by strutting in, the near-silent library watching as he makes his entrance. You step back against the shelves behind you, nodding apologetically to the shelf you were just standing in front of, "Sorry. Go ahead."
He's bewildered. He's never seen anyone else in the fantasy section before, he knows that there must be fans in Hawkins because sometimes the books get checked out, but he'd have assumed they were younger kids just getting into their first fantasy novel because there was a wizard on the cover. Not incredibly pretty people like you. And not to mention your age, you seem to be about his own, if only a year or two younger.
He finally lets a sheepish smile cross his face, "You're fine. I, uh, I was going for that one." He gestures to the book in your hands and your eyes widen, your fingers slipping out from between the pages as you snap it shut.
"Sorry! Sorry, I.. I haven't really read anything like this before," You hold the book out for him, "I was just curious. You can take it!"
"No, no, it's okay." Suddenly the burning desire for the book in your hands is gone, the cover looking much more suited in your hands than it would in his own, "You can read it. It's your first fantasy novel, I'd be a dick to take it from you."
You seem suspicious of his generosity, still extending the book towards him. He ducks for another book on the shelf, a title further down on his list, but still present, "I'll take this one. Been meaning to read it for ages."
"Are you sure?" You finally question him, and he nods vigorously, his hair bouncing wildly around his head.
"Under one condition, though." He takes the leap of faith, something funny twisting in his tummy at the sparkling curiosity in your eyes as you nod.
"You read a few of my recommendations."
You cock your head to the side at his offer and he steps forward, plucking a book off of the shelf.
"This one," He starts, "Is super good. Lots of worldbuilding, great character development." He tucks the thin book between his middle and pointer finger, using his thumb to pinch another in his grip, "And this one is more focused on mythical creatures," He hands them both to you, "It's a really good book for getting into fantasy."
You take them both with wide eyes, hooked on every word of Eddie's fantasy elevator pitch. He snatches one last book from the shelves, a personal favorite of his, "And this one's the best by far. It's the whole package, and it's got great battle scenes."
You have the books clutched to your chest and he realizes that if you rearrange them one will fall, so he keeps it in his hands, "If you wanna check 'em out, I can help you to the counter."
You deliberate for only a moment, then you nod once, "Thank you. You're.. you're Eddie, right?"
He should be stunned that you know his name, but something sinks in his chest as he realizes it's probably due to his not-so-great reputation around town. But he plays it off, nodding as his grin curves up to expose a glimmer of his teeth, "That's me."
"Thank you, Eddie." You offer him the first smile of what will be many, the sight warming his heart and bringing a flush to his cheeks, "I didn't know you were a big reader."
He struggles to make himself sound cooler, hellbent on impressing you instead of admitting that he hangs upside-down off of his bed with a book bent in half in his hands, "Um, yeah. I've got a.. book club."
He does not have a book club.
"A book club?" Your eyes shine, "Can I join?"
You cannot join his book club. He does not have a book club.
"Of course you can!" He smiles forcibly at you, though the expression melts into a genuine gooey one as your face lights up, "If you give me your number, I can call you before the next meeting."
"I don't have a pen or paper," You lament, "I'll see if the front desk-"
"No, no." Eddie waves you off, taking the books carefully from your grasp and tucking them under one arm, "Here. I've got a sharpie."
He plucks the permanent marker out of his pocket, handing it proudly over to you. He silently thanks his doodling habit for keeping him prepared.
"I still don't have paper." You laugh awkwardly, but he holds out the hem of his denim vest.
"Here, sweetheart." The pet name rolls easily off of his tongue, but doesn't seem as mindless as it usually does, bringing a momentary flush to your cheeks, "Just sign it there."
"But that's- this is permanent." You remind him, as if that hadn't been the reason for the suggestion, "It won't wash out."
"Then I'll remember you forever." He grins cheekily at you, still brandishing the denim towards you, "C'mon. Digits, babe."
You seem flustered speechless at his bold words, but it shocks you into compliance, and you scribble your number onto the grungy jacket. He watches your tongue poke out of your mouth in concentration with an adoring twinge in his eyes, not bothering to break the gaze when you step back and notice it.
'Perfect." He takes back the sharpie that you hand him, then carefully deposits the books back into your grasp, "Now come on, I'll walk you to the front. 'Gotta make sure you don't chicken out on me." He's teasing, but something deep down inside of him is truly concerned that maybe he'd been too forward, that maybe you were just being nice about his fantasy fixation and that you'd put the books back altogether once you were out of his sight.
He watches you check out the books with growing amusement, incredulity at your follow-through warming his chest and making his heart thump. Then he remembers his blatant lie, panic clawing at his lungs as his smile drops.
He needs to start a book club.

Uh, real quick. It's been confirmed by an LMK crew member that Wukong didn't leave MK with Pigsy. He didn't even know that MK out of the stone egg- he was just shooting through memories, trying to find MK, and kept coming back to the stone egg with no clue why.
Oh that's super interesting! I'd like to see the post/tweet you're talking about, because I'm curious about what exactly was said and how it was worded, but I'm super intrigued. If anyone could send it my way, that would be awesome!
However, I will say the whole show doesn't make sense if Wukong didn't know MK was a Monkey. All the way from the beginning, from the "A Hero is Born" special, Wukong said "Not just anyone can wield my staff", already implying he didn't give MK any power. And then AGAIN in 3x03 Smartie Kid he goes "The staff's just a big old stick bud! It takes someone special to wield it". Certain situations like fighting Macaque in 1x09 or even Wukong letting MK face a Samadhi fire powered Lady Bone Demon alone in 3x14 don't make sense unless Wukong knows MK can handle it—which, why would he if he was just a normal noodle delivery boy? Like, supposedly Macaque "stole" MK's power in 1x09. Why would Sun Wukong believe MK could lift the staff and do the "hero stuff" without the power he supposedly gave MK? This is what my friend and I have dubbed the "battery boy" phenomenon, where MK inexplicably gains his powers back for no real reason, and it's all tied to his origins.
All this to say Wukong knows something, and with him being at the stone and all I just assumed he was involved in MK's creation (which they kinda set up at the beginning of 4x05). So, MK is created, a beautiful baby boy pops out of the stone, and Sun Wukong "loses" that beautiful boy (if Wukong knew he was born to begin with) with MK finding his way to Pigsy's.
Then it's later Sun Wukong finds MK again, coming up with a plan to make MK his "successor" (still leaving MK with Pigsy, which I think was the right call lol). As Wukong says in 4x01, "You make ONE mistake, and no one ever let's you live it down! Looks like the ghosts of my past have finally caught up with me." That's what I think this parallel in particular is really trying to show off—in some way, MK is one of his past mistakes, just like Macaque was.
In 4x06, MK thinks back to his "childhood", and we see this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn't a "Monkey King Vision" like before, this is a memory. Sun Wukong was there for MK's creation, or at least involved—the stone is at flower fruit moutnain after all.
Anyhow, those visions being Sun Wukong looking for MK definitely leads to more questions! How did he know MK was in the scroll? Why wasn't he trapped in a past version of himself? Where was that field we saw him in before he finally reached MK? I just think there's more at play here, you know?
