break the news... (day 14)

A/N: @obxmermaid this is the 14th entry in the lives of Draco and YN as we get closer to christmas they have now been stuck in the school as their classmates have gone elsewhere for the holidays. but a fire message from YN’s parents inviting them to a gathering makes this a whole less boring.

pairing: Draco Malfoy x reader

the message, ah yes the fire message a way for wizards and witches to communicate without the use of modern technology. also very good way to be somewhat discreet.

this is how you got a fire message that changed your weekend of a lifetime.

“dearest daughter, you and Draco are invited to come home for the weekend to enjoy our family gathering. this is the one day a year as you know that the entire family gets together under one roof, grudges and petty judgements go out the window. minus your father who is doing well, but the doctors are getting his magic up to full strength again. please reply and say you both will be in attendance for it would mean the world to us. love mom.”

you turned to draco as you both took one look at the fire message and smiled.

Draco: i guess we need to pack a weekend bag. we can share a bag right?

YN: yep. but a fair warning this weekend my family will be doing all sorts of magic. its like this every single damn year. its basically one big game of catch up that lasts the entire weekend.

just as draco was about to speak your fire place went crazy. then a figure resembling your mother appeared.

YN: mom?

Laura: ah daughter thank goodness i found the right one. so did you get the fire message...

YN: yes we were just discussing it.

Laura: oh come on down for the weekend, the family is gathering and we would be honored to have you both here. please say you will come... you know the family will want to know how you are doing and meet draco...

YN: yes thats what im afraid of, all the grilling and questions and and... oh fine.. but do us all a favor and hide the bourbon from uncle ned, you know how lushy he gets. wait which place is it at this year?

Laura: ive already done that... oh dont worry ive spoken to dumbledore by fire message he will have a port key ready.

YN: oh so you knew i would say yes.

laura: i hoped you would. now we will see you both on friday at 3pm or sooner. by the way your father is fine. i know you probably got my update note but to reaffirm he is fine. he woke up. the doctors were able to heal him all up. he wont be at the feast they are keeping him a few more days to make sure he is fully functional with his magic.

YN: we will have to find time to visit him then...

Laura: yes. now we will see you both in a few days. remember YN be nice to these people they are family but they are gonna be ruthless to anything they dont understand yet.

YN: what do you mean?

Laura: i mean some of the family is old school like they dont think open relationship policy is a good idea.

YN: well this will be a shock for them then. see you on friday mom.

the fire went back to normal as you flopped back onto the couch your head spinning, you know how your family reacts to the abnormal.

You bringing home a boy, who is not from your own house is like people who don't listen to the law.

The law is hard but it is the law. This was one thing you were desperately prepared to fight for, this was your life you werent gonna let your family determine how you get to live it.

anyway back to the story, you and draco decided to pack and you both went to dumbledore’s office on friday at noon and went through the port key landing just outside of paris at one of your family country mansions.

Draco: love, this place is incredible so why would we not come here more often.

YN: cause i want to be independent so i take only what i need and every month they transfer 10,000 into my bank account and another 10,000 into my gringotts. both of these accounts were of my parents doing, not mine. but its mostly their way of support before we go further we need to figure out how to approach this to my family.

Draco cups your cheeks and kisses you when he pulled back he spoke calmly.

Draco: we will handle this with smiles, and friendliness and happy thoughts, we are the only people who matter in this relationship, the people who support us matter as long as they support our union. at the end of it, we are the ones that matter and have final say in this relationship. that and the ministry when we tell fudge.

YN: yes that, we need to do that soon... maybe sooner than we think if this dinner doesnt go well.

Draco: well lets go inside, im sure your mom knows we are here... dear we are just prolonging the inevitable.

YN: your right. lets go... but im surprised that someone isnt here to greet me...

you let out a sharp whistle, letting your purse sit now on the ground. just as you did that, you heard a screech.

Draco: what was that love?

YN: that is my griffin...

Draco: im sorry what...

just then a griffin with golden feathers with tints of black and brown through it lands in front of you. approaching you as you bow, the griffin nuzzles your face with its own.

YN: i missed you too girl. Draco, this is Opal. Opal this is Draco my boyfriend.

Opal turns to draco, Draco bows to Opal who approaches Draco and sniffs him and waits a few seconds and then nuzzles Draco’s head. draco then began petting Opal.

YN: she likes you, its always polite etiquette to bow to a griffin or a hippogriff before approaching it. this gesture will show the griffin that you are not a threat. this is a show of good faith. of good will.

Draco: opal, I think we need a guard to get to the door.

Opal growls lightly before leading the way to the door. You both get to the door and opal nudges you before she bows letting you and Draco go inside. your mother comes round the corner from the kitchen and rushes to hug you.

Laura: im so glad you both are here... now YN your room is fully prepared for you and Draco. not to worry i pre warned most of the family that someone has a big announcement. no one questioned or said anything. not to worry though, people will begin to arrive in a few hours. go on up and un pack.

YN: its good to see you too mom. this way love.

you take draco by the hand as you both walk upstairs down the hall and too the right. into your master suite or as you call it “the tower”. this room complete with your own walk in closet, a king size canopy bed, your own bathroom. decorated in a teal color to combine yours and dracos magic essence.

YN: this is our room for the weekend.

Draco: its perfect. i love this bed and the color and you.

You turned to face him, to meet his eyes with your own.

YN: careful love thats seduction in your tones. we have 2 years to wait before we can be married. or even consider that possibility.

Draco: doesnt mean we can lay here for as long as possible and just play wizards chess or something.

you snap your fingers and you both were laying with a wizards chess board on the bed.

YN: we are gonna play this till we are called several thousand times. by everyone who wants to see me and grill me and... ugh... this is stupid.... my family is so passed screwed that its a long long time between gatherings for the reason of they dont know what they want, against every fibre of better judgement that they have, they dont know how much the world has changed.

Draco: love don't worry too much. Let's just play and not worry about anything else right now. Nothing is gonna ruin our weekend. Nothing at all. i believe white goes first love.

you have been planning your entire strategy for this game you were 6 moves ahead of draco and you planned to keep it that way.

YN: pawn to g4

draco: knight to f6

YN: pawn to g5

draco: knight to d5

YN: knight to a3

draco: pawn to e5

to this point you had counted for every angle every move that draco could possibly counter.

YN: knight to c4

Draco: queen to g5

you now had an opportunity to get rid of his queen if you did it correctly.

YN: pawn to d3

draco: queen to f6

YN: knight to a5

draco: pawn to b5

YN: knight to f3

draco: your good love, but im slightly better... bishop to b7

YN: only as a slight... but not better enough. Knight to b7

Draco: knight to c6

YN: pawn to e3

Draco: love that wasnt very smart of you... knight to e3

YN: love that also wasnt smart of you. Pawn to e3

draco: clever love, pawn to d5

YN: bishop to d2

draco: pawn to e4

You smile as you begin to make Draco think you are preparing to checkmate his king.

YN: bishop to B4

Draco: oh my dear you are not gonna win right now... bishop to b4, by the way love, check...

you were so unsure of what to do, now looking at the board you knew now that you were screwed, you were about to loose.

you had to attempt to get your king out of check.

YN: im not gonna go down without a final attempt... king to e2

draco: sorry love, queen to f3... i believe its checkmate!

Yn: how I had this all planned out, I had this all planned out... Omg congrats love you win.

You kissed Draco, his hands pushing the chess board off the bed. That started the make out session of the next 10 min. Before someone came up the stairs and knocked on your door...

You turned toward the door and snapped your fingers...

Yn: come on in

You and Draco sat on the bed in each other's embrace watching as the door opened to reveal Hermione Harry and Ron.

You both got up and embraced them. They were here but how did they know.

Hermione: didn't think I would miss family gathering weekend did you... plus i figured we could use the backup, plus these 3 are the first outsiders at this family weekend. you my dear cousin could use a little bit of extra happiness before the rest of our family arrive. besides did you show Draco the extension of the grounds. all the griffins that you have trained.

YN: he did meet opal who took to him right away. he did surprisingly well for his first encounter with a griffin. But tomorrow we will go to the griffin sanctuary. Tonight we meet the family. I've been avoiding going down, how many are here yet?

Hermione: too many, more than usually show up first. no one has fought yet so its good and pleasant so far. cuz we should put on the family crest!

though you didnt want to Hermione pulled out a bag from your closet and led you into the washroom. you both put on the knee length black dresses and did a hair check before exiting back to the guys.

Draco took one look at you, came over and kissed you...

Draco: that dress is absolutely gorgeous on you!

YN: thank you love, this is the family crest, its style takes after our hogwarts crests. but it is our family crest. i however look forward to the day when we can be married where we have the freedom to disappear under new names so we can live our lives in hiding, in peace.

no one except draco heard you say those words as your ears heard the sound of fencing swords... you and hermione took off down the stairs and watched as your uncles all have fencing swords and are fencing throughout the house/property.

YN: well the fun begins. hermione tell the guys to stay upstairs im gonna stay here and watch this wait for my chance to intervene.

hermione: i should be by your side for this...

YN: no you should wait with the guys, make sure you give them their anti tracking bracelets. make sure that they understand the rules, make sure that they know what they are and are not allowed to do while here. make the rules abundantly clear.

Hermione gives you a swift nod, realizing that you were right, she went back upstairs to the boys. You let out a ear pi3rcing whistle forcing your family present to stop in their tracks.

Yn: family, family should we not be calm, should we be merry and sheath our swords for it is supposed to be the one weekend out of the year where we gather together as one whole magical family, but today you me, you pessimistic grown ass men are acting like children on this the weekend of peace. So every man in here and on this property shall hence forth not herald another sword as long as we all exist within this property border, for today i tell you all that im the one with the announcement.

You turn to see hermione coming down the stairs, draco following behind her, harry and ron behind him. Draco comes up at your side, proudly sporting his house crest as he places his hand to your own.

YN: this man beside me is my announcement, this young man is my boyfriend of 2 and a half years, this is Draco Malfoy. yes his parents are followers of you-know-who but Draco is different, i saved him from his parents, i saved him from whatever they wanted for him, more importantly we saved each other. without draco i would not be standing before you all to declare that my parents have blessed this union and we are the start of the open house relationship policy in the wizarding world, which now states “any witch or wizard that so sees fit to love someone not of their own house shall be free to be with whoever their heart desires within or without their house crest. for eternity shall this be!” Draco and i will be the first of a long line of students to follow our hearts. if i earn not even one of your approvals this weekend just know this, my parents support us and these 3 behind us support us, the school and its professors and students support us. we are supported and loved in every single direction. but a week ago Draco gave me this necklace with our couples initials and our anniversary date which pairs perfectly with this ring i gave him, neither of us are leaving this relationship and no one can make us.

for the room was silent all eyes were on you, and neither you nor draco said anything else, you both just walked over to the kitchen to help mom with some baking and rolling of spring rolls, and mixing of drinks yet still no one said anything, they just all stared at you both.

by the end of the first day you guys had been among the people, no one said a word to either of you. the night was peaceful, you both stood out on the balcony as opal slept beside where you both stood (yes the balcony is big enough for a griffin to sleep on... odd how story telling can be warped to our standards as authors) you both went inside after an hour and a bit later and went to sleep.

the next morning when you both woke it was to the sound of drills and hammers, something was going down and from the sound of it something was happening.

you both went to the balcony and discovered that the family was building something in the yard. opal was freaking out but she was also tied to a post in the yard.

YN: either my family has decided to work together or we are in lots of trouble.

thats when you received a fire message.

YN: its from my cousin she says that the family locked her ron harry and my mother in the barn with the griffins, tied up opal and insist on crucifying us all insisting we are all under the dark lords influence unless you and draco renounce your relationship and never see each other again.

Draco: what are we going to do... i cant live without you, and im never going to renounce our love.

YN: i have an idea but im gonna need you to do a fire message as well, send one to hermione in the barn tell her that she needs to comfort my mother, help is on the way... i have 1 message to send myself, to hogwarts.

you prepared your message as draco did his, you both sent them off, you knew hermione couldnt reply but she could receive, the one going to hogwarts however arrived in the hands of who you addressed it.

dumbledore received the message, he summoned minerva and snape to his office...

Dumbledore: im afraid this is not a social call, this is quite urgent in fact, a literal matter of life or death. YN and Draco had left yesterday to YN’s parents place, but i just received an urgent fire message... this reads, “Headmaster, this message is Urgent! we need help my family didnt take the news of me and Draco being together very well, they plan to crucify us, to crucify mine, hermiones, dracos, harrys, rons and my moms magical and physical forms. we need assistance, they have me and draco locked in the tower, and the others in the barn. please bring help, we need to get out of here. but they boarded the room we have a balcony but we wouldnt survive the jump. help us, get us out of here, by any means necessary and headmaster thank you for letting me and Draco live our lives together. help us asap!”

minerva: what do we have to do albus, how do we save the children and YN’s mother...

Dumbledore: quite easily, we 3 are going to YN’s family property where i will tqalk to the courtyard, one of you goes to the barn, the other goes to the tower, we meet back in the courtyard hopefully with everyone safe and sound. hopefully in that time frame i will have calmed down the courtyard and come up with a plan. now lets go...

the 3 professors by port key traveled and arrived outside the gate to your family estate. with 3 wands this would surely work better than expected.

snape, minerva & dumbledore: bombarda maxima

with that the gate, and half the wall on either side of the gate blew up, shattered into a thousand pieces. the explosion was loud enough to shake the entire estate. you and draco stood up slightly knowing that help had arrived.

your family on the other hand saw snape, minerva and dumbledore walk through the debris and they parted like the red sea, going completely silent, dropping whatever they were holding. for they all knew that this was not gonna be an easy task.

snape went toward the barn in which he found Harry, Ron, Hermione & of course your mom in the corner tied up like animals. he used his wand to untie them all and then waited for the signal to start emerging from the barn.

minerva went inside the house and up the stairs, where she found and broke down your tower door.

Minerva: time to go grab what you need lets go.

YN: thank you so much professor for coming.

Minerva: i am just glad im not too late... now lets see what dumbledore is saying to your family.

Dumbledore was now on a platform speaking to your family. or at least those that were in the courtyard.

Dumbledore: these children have done no harm, these people have made nothing wrong, why do you all believe they should be crucified, they have done nothing wrong except learn to love.

one person exclaimed: they are working for the dark lord

another person exclaimed: their relationship is toxic and needs to be purified by crucifixion

another person screamed: cause its not right, this is not how the rules dictate...

dumbledore was fed up with all the same types of answers...

Dumbledore: i albus dumbledore have seen the love that these 2 children share, ive seen it projected through their school work and through their vocals, its as pure and good as any in house relationships that have happened. ive decreed this to the school and am waiting for my meeting with the ministry to tell them about this. it will be a few weeks for that but i state this to you all: whoever goes from here to another soul and speaks ill of what has happened here shall henceforth no more have the ability to speak anything bad, and further more i decree that as long as there are good people running hogwarts, the houses can be free to love whosoever they desire! this began with Draco and YN, this decree is sealed by the signing of this parchment by me, professor mcgonigal, professor snape, YN and Draco. these 2 and the rest of their friends and family are not to come to any harm... now commence with the signing... YN and Draco first, then minerva and severus, i will sign last.

you and draco walked up to the parchment, you signed it first then handed the pen to draco who followed in signing the parchment. then minerva and severus signed next, then dumbledore before he spoke again.

Dumbledore: now all of you clean this yard up, none of you will be able to speak of this day, none of you will remember the horrors that were unleashed today. now go back to cleaning this yard and repairing this wall, YN didnt come back for family weekend and you guys do not remember anything.

the spoken words echo on the property as your mom gave you, hermione, draco, harry and ron a longing look that seemed to say ill see you soon. like that you all ended up back at hogwarts in dumbledores office.

Dumbledore: i wonder if i could speak with YN and Draco alone a moment.

Minerva: of course Albus, i will make sure these children make it back to the dorms. come along children.

the 5 people left the room leaving you and Draco alone in the office.

dumbledore: now children lets speak a bit about what happened...

YN: its my fault headmaster, i was so looking forward to telling my family, i didnt know it would go that wrong... i thought the old laws were no longer in effect, that crucifixions were illegal in the muggle and wizarding worlds.

Dumbledore: unfortunately the old laws are the laws that were drilled deeply into lots of witches and wizards and mostly in pureblood families such as both of yours. but unfortunatly we can not change their minds or their ways for that matter, the only thing we can do about this is move forward starting with my meeting with the ministry. now i expect you both to take the day, relax, take a load off and just relax its best not to speak of what happened to anyone its better that not very many people know yet. now be off, spend as much time as needed to push this days events from your minds.

you and draco walk out of the room, down the hall, through the changing stair cases to the shared dorm, where your room was.

He walked through the door with you, you both fell back on the bed. Just exhausted mentally.

Draco: are you OK love?

Yn: no I'm not... My family rejected me, rejected our relationship. for that they will have to learn the hard way with the decree, hopefully they will listen to that and hopefully when and or if fudge decides to make the announcement in the daily prophet. i know every single member of my family makes the effort to read the daily prophet... So we are gonna make sure it's front page worthy...

You turned over to face him and watched his eyes search your own. He was concerned about you, about your feelings, about your well being.

Draco brushed his hand gently against your cheek and smiled.

Draco: just lean into me and close your eyes. Don't dwell on what happened, dwell on our future think about that.. I love you YN, I love you so much! Just relax my love, just relax.

You leaned into the arms of your love, and happily lulled off to a state of peace and relaxation. You were not sure what tomorrow would hold but as long as nothing else bad happened you would be fine.

heyyy, hope you’re having a good night!! if you have the energy and feel okay answering, what’s up w taz graduation? i haven’t checked it out yet but i was thinking ab it. just asking bc you’re the first person i saw talk ab the show having serious issues, but also feel free to not answer this!! hope you have a good week!

i took a nice hot bath, had a strawberry kiwi capri-sun, and did a nice face mask and i’m feeling pretty good - so, y’know what anon? let’s talk about it.

for anyone who likes taz grad who sees this post: it’ll be tagged with “taz grad hate” (although i feel hate is definitely a very strong word - it’s for the simplicity of tagging it) - so please block the tag if you don’t want to see this post (especially because i put a readmore on a post before and it didn’t show up on mobile and instead gave the full post). mobile tumblr has a tag blocking system, so please feel free to use it! i don’t mind haha

anyway, so this is... probably going to be a lost post, and i wanna go ahead and preface it: this absolutely isn’t any hate on the mcelroys themselves. i love the brothers and their dad a lot, and while i doubt any of them would ever see this (or have it sent to them, or shown to them, because im pretty sure they try to distance themselves from this sort of thing), i just want to make it clear that criticizing a product is different than bashing a person. which brings me to the point of if i do end up sounding as if im bashing someone - please call me out on it! it’s not my intention to target anyone.

with that said, let’s talk about this campaign.

so my problems are as thus: the railroading, the shipping (a fandom problem, but it’s present in the podcast), the NPCs, and some misc problems others have addressed better than i have.

which. i know. that’s basically the entire podcast. (i promise i’ll bring up some positive points to balance it all out). keep in mind i’ve only personally listened to... what, six episodes? and it was enough for me to drop it. some people dropped it first ep, some dropped it ep four, and others are still forcing themselves to listen.

the railroading

there was a time i could handle travis and his railroading [making sure the story goes exactly the way he has planned], because it was the very beginning of the podcast and that’s what you can kind of expect from a plot-heavy podcast. hell, i wouldn’t mind it if the interactions and goofs weren’t a huge part of why i listen to TAZ in particular (which, by the way, is why amnesty still stuck out to me - even if there was a direction griffin wanted to push them towards, the interactions between the players (or players and npcs) made up for any railroading). it’s kind of hard to not railroad a little when it’s story-heavy and you’re trying to built up a world that you’ve put a lot of thought into. however, a huge part of d&d is the spontaneity.

it’s kind of why i think balance was so popular. while there was railroading towards the end, there was the presence of improv that made it all good. most mcelroy content is enjoyed because of the goofs. the magic brian moment is memorable. the jenkin’s fight still stands out because it was funny (albeit a result of some bad rolls). the boys teasing angus sticks out because the four would play well off of each other. even without that - griffin had talked about how he had to roll with things (the fact he had planned for a fight atop the train, but ditched the idea for what his family members came up with instead). even in amnesty, a couple moments that stick out to me still are ned with the jetpack taking out a pizza hut sign, and the scene with the water where jake was trapped inside. they aren’t as fun, but they still stand out as “things i didnt expect to really end the way they did.”

with grad, it’s just. one after another. the thundermen want to subpoena a xorn? cool, let’s run with that until actually the xorn gets fed rocks and goes home and who cares about the subpoena now. fitzroy wants to keep his cloak? lets talk about it for a while and you also get no rolls to even try to keep it. fitzroy goes to meet higglemas in his office? oh, why are you here fitzroy? im going to keep asking you until you answer fitzroy? you arent getting out of this scene until you answer me, fitzroy, so just tell me why you’re here already, alright, fitzroy?

and even later in a episode i read a transcript of: hey argo, remember how you have this whole secret motivation? fuck you, im gonna talk about it here in your dream and reveal it to listeners and remove any tension you had building up, and you dont get a choice to talk about it because this all-knowing villain knows all about it :)

and even NOW in the latest episode, there’s a comment that “we should cap argo’s skills here” instead of just... making the checks higher. rogues are good at certain things and usually arent the best in battles. better hope argo never makes it to level 11, because who knows how people are gonna handle the fact that he gets a skill that’ll make it so certain skills can’t have a roll below 10 (reliable talent).

(griffin, thankfully, calls travis out for that, but still - travis, why would you even imply that, considering you should be aware of how rogues work considering magnus multiclassed into rogue and you played one on tiny heist?)

and in the newest episode, their Big Bad chaos (which, god, i personally hate that name) straight-out says “dont do this” to the thundermen. travis tries to say, on twitter, “a character saying “dont do this” is different than me saying it” but i need to point out that it’s one thing if you’ve said “no” in character but worked with the PCs doing otherwise, but the railroading says differently.

the shipping

ill try to make this quick, because it’s nothing to do with the fandom (ship however you want, man) - but i really feel the need to draw attention to this.

fitzroy, as confirmed by griffin in a ttazz episode, is asexual. not aroace, but ace nonetheless. and i find it... troublesome that the idea of rainer and fitzroy having a relationship is still pushed nonetheless, despite the fact that fitzroy (to my knowledge) was never once shown to reciprocate any feelings. not to be that person, but i really hope that grad doesnt have any sort of romantic relationships in it (at least - not between NPCs and PCs unless they’re actually like... warranted?).

i dont know, man. one of my closest friends is ace, and i know she wants a relationship, but i think it would reassure her a lot to see an ace character who isn’t pushed into one in case she ever changes her mind. someone once mentioned that they hope fi/tz/ra/in doesnt happen because theres relationships that have that “oh, you can just date” and it goes upwards there to “oh, you can have sex just to please them <3″ (which, to be honest, is kind of a gross mindset - if someone isnt interested, they arent interested).

also, uh, the TTAZZ where griffin states this, there’s kind of the mention tht the whole sexuality question was posed in relation to the episode “creative thinking” (the dream one i mentioned earlier) - which. uh. i don’t know if anyone caught this, but... rainer straight-up wrote fitzroy a letter in the dream like “are you going to accept my proposal? a girl doesn’t like to be left waiting” which. leaves me with some gross feelings because uh.

if... if the whole thing about fitzroys sexual orientation was addressed here, then why would you push your ship anyway? feels kinda iffy, man.

to which i want to say: fitzroy can date. he’s allowed to date. griffins allowed to do whatever he wants with his character. but when a lot of the flirting is met with nothing, i’m not gonna see the chemistry there. just because travis ships it doesn’t mean it’s canon.

the npcs

ah yes. lets talk about the npcs.

there’s... a lot. a lot a lot. i think travis trimmed down how many were present in a scene, but uh. there’s still a lot. and... uh... i kinda wish there wasn’t?

look, i know im going back to balance/amnesty, but just. hang in there for a moment. chill with me. vibe.

balance didnt have too many NPCs present at all times in each mini-arc. gerblins had some big names like barry, klarg, gundren, killian, yeemick, and magic brian. rockport limited had angus, jess, graham the juicy wizard jenkins, and all of the tom bodetts mentioned.

amnestys first arc had mama, barclay, jake, dani, pigeon, kirby, minerva, and that was about it for like. big names? and not all of them were present in each scene.

i don’t know if travis ever actually addressed it, but wheelchair users have actually like... said that rainer’s introduction bothered them, because she was like “please ask me abt my wheelchair :)” when travis saying she was in an ornate chair would have sufficed.

the overall lack of d&d when the campaign was kind of advertised as a return to d&d if i remember correctly

also no one seems to be taking literally any criticism at all which like. ignoring the petty shit, sure, but people have stopped donating to taz and their listener-ship must have dropped some during this entire time - you’d think that maybe someone could say “we need to find out why people dont like the thing and fix the thing” consider this is. yknow. their livelihood.

tl;dr: travis railroads way too much (even now), the shipping in-game has become pushy and gross (especially bc its shoving a relationship onto an asexual character), theres too many npcs that dont stand out well enough, and no ones taking any criticism about the major issues with grad.

👀👀👀 finally a good reason to tell the (new) lore of them

lmao that info i told you is probably outdated now since ive redone their backstory

stupid fun facts: wolf used to be a Undertale oc. that is the reason LS exists after all, he was suppose to be a “lost soul” version of her (yknow like at the end of the pacifist route) and how he got his name (LS stands for lost soul lmao i was not creative). as she used to be a ut oc, i made other forms of her (errortale swaptale ect which ive revamped also into different characters), but she just kind of evolved past being just for the ut universe.

another fun fact! i actually wrote a whole story with wolf ls and kittay (another character i made and got attached to) which was about wolf getting lost and the other two trying to look fr her. sadly i have no idea where the notebook i wrote it in is anymore so its just lost lmao

original backstory: i dont think they ever had a concrete backstory, but i think i remember settling in on a “lab experiments gone wrong” backstory for a while tho once they evolved past the ut universe :)

actual backstory: LS, Wolf, and Kittay (i plan to change their names but havent got any good replacements so these are their names for now) were born from a female wolf and male eagle. of course, the eagle and the wolf being from different species, this had some side effects. LS was born without eyes leaving him blind, wolf had an extra pair of (smaller) wings which made it so flying for her was hard, and kittay had an extra pair of ears and he had a bobtail. they were born as a wolf/eagle hybrid, and looked more like griffins but if the eagle head and lion back legs were replaced by wolf parts. they lived in peace with their parents for a while, but soon enough (lab) people started noticing them and decided “hey! we should capture it and test on it because what the fuck is that” so they set out to capture them. The father was eventually killed protecting them and so the mother ran away with the children. soon enough, the humans found them again and ended up capturing the mother, but LS wolf and kittay were able to escape, though kittay was trying to fight them off and got a scar on his eye. now they basically just wander around trying to find a good home to settle in.

personalities:

Wolf: Shes mainly an energetic animal, and tries to stay positive most of the time. usually the one holding the groups morale high. She likes making art (but not really in the “perfect drawing perfect sculpture” sense, she just likes making art via using paint to make random patterns on stones) and likes decorating stuff like their hideout, though they usually dont stay there for long. Shes able to run around for longer, and even though she cant fly like the others, she has learnt to climb trees or other tall items to scout areas.

LS: Hes usually quiet, and since he is blind, his hearing and smelling skills are extremely good, and is usually the first one to point out something in the group. He carries a bag which they stole from the city where he keeps food, other objects like medical items, and also carries a bunch of little stones around. why? well LS made something up to help him with reading, and its like braille. He wears a woven leaf mask around his eyes, made by Wolf. He can learn his surroundings pretty well and can usually walk around by himself if he knows the place, but if hes somewhere he doesnt know he usually leans on Kittay for support, as Wolf usually bounces around and isnt that sturdy. He can fly, but doesnt do it often since he ends up flying or bumping into stuff.

im relistening to griffin and rachel mcelroy’s bachelor fancast (which they stopped doing when the show got to be Way Way Way Too Much, and they started doing a show called “wonderful” instead, which i havent listened to much of, but i really wanna). i really love rose buddies, even though i’ve never watched the bachelor and it seems like a fucking awful show. they also talk extensively about how awful it is lmao, but like... listening to this podcast is like sitting down to gossip with some friends lmaoooo. its a feeling that wonderful doesnt really replicate for me, though it probably has its own charms and i do wanna get into that at some point... but yeah. like i know people listened to rose buddies when it was still happening, but does anyone else relisten to it from time to time? it’s probably been like a year and a half or more since i last started a relisten, and i remember that i didnt even make it that far, ive probably only done a full relisten of the series once (so ive only heard the podcast twice), but man im excited to dive back in haha, in my opinion some of griffin’s funniest moments are in this podcast and rachel is also delightful of course

no more vanilla bean ice cream

they were out of vanilla bean ice cream, they had vanilla, french vanilla, sweet cream vanilla and cheesecake vanilla, but not vanilla bean, when did everyone all of a sudden get into vanilla bean, everyone was a pig they could not care less about the bean in the vanilla or not, but now apparently everyone was into vanilla bean ice cream because last week there was a full row of umpqua vanilla bean ice cream and now there was none

so I’m waiting in line at safeway with my subpar vanilla ice cream after I had gone on a much needed quarantine run right after spending two hours texting my friend and she was telling me about how google owns all the data in the world and not only has enough data to know me better than myself, but since they know everyone else’s data too, they know my friends data so they know me in context, the whole thing was very depressing so depressing i didnt even want to use a period in my writing anymore because what the fuck was the point of punctuation anyway in this world, i would still be nice and use commas, just to give my fingers a break and be able to get a thought in or so.

i guess i could also accommodate for paragraphs break at visually appropriate times, it didn't matter if it was contextually appropriate or not, i was going to drop a paragraph break because i know people like paragraphs, charles dickens and dostoevsky and jane austen and leo tolstoy never made paragraph breaks that's why no one ever read their books, people just say they read them to seem smart but they never really read them they just knew it was the right thing to say that they were literary geniuses because their books were so long, see people like to lie and say they know the work of a great author even though they only read a few quotes by them, but that was enough to say good and bad things about writers without ever knowing what the hell they did, few understand the theory of relativity but everyone calls einstein a genius.

the thing about quarantine was that at this point i had gotten used to seeing very few people in my life and i was enjoying it so whenever i had to go to the supermarket i had to see all these people and boy were they gross, maybe i would not have seen them as so gross if had gotten my vanilla bean ice cream but i had not so, they were gross, they were all getting so fat, and fat in like weird ways, not like fat on the sides like the michelin tire guy or a cute belly like the pillsbury dough boy or like that kinda funny superfat like homer simpson or peter griffin they were just gross fat, like it looked like they had just been eating garbage and watching netflix fat, like this one guy seemed like if you got a pillowcase filled it up with hot lard and then poked two pool cues on the bottom of it, this other lady looked like a minifridge emptied into a potato sack.

the asses were the worst part, it was kinda hot so everyone was wearing shorts and it was not appropriate when they wear shorts always have that like red line right under the shorts and it does not look that great, the oddest one was the skinny ass but with fat legs, i did not get that one, the person would have no ass mass at all but then the legs were super fat i did not understand what they were doing to get their bodies to look this way, a lot of people were also walking around with wedgies, a lot of people were also walking around in pajamas covered in animal hair and it was gross, its like you have nowhere to go, you are all complaining about not having the right to go out, so when you do go out why not maybe spruce things up, honour life, honour your fellow human, no, screw that we are all going to behave like the whole entire public sphere is a big ass pijama party,

the whole facemask thing, wait before, i start talking about the facemask thing, everytime i start a new paragraph, google is trying to force me into capitalizing the first letter, it doesn't even ask me if i want to capitalize it, it just goes ahead and does it, google is such an presumptuous douche sometimes, now when i write in gmail, it autocompletes all my sentences, great so we can all sound like robots, and it does it like automatically, so i ending having to erase the lame sentence it wrote, i mean i would have probably come up with something similar or exactly the same too, after all there are only so many ways to say goodbye, but id like to think it was my idea, these engineers had no savoir faire, just so you know, so now i hope that everytime you start to read a new paragraph you imagine me hitting the backspace button to delete their fascist capital letters, and its frustrating because im really trying to write as fast as i can, i bet you can tell

see it happened again, and its not that i just have to hit the delete, i have to get my mouse and put my cursor there so it like detects its not just on mistake i am trying to delete their smartass capital letter, so yeah to the facemask thing, the whole facemask thing was pretty dumb, i mean if the facemask was the windshield to the coronavirus i didnt get how casual people were being about, they would just pull it right down under their noise, oh great now you have all your coronavirus on your nostrils, what the hell, i didnt get it, im pretty sure noone in that safeway store had coronavirus, and it was coronavirus not covid19, what is it about us having to find dandy little names for things, it was the coronavirus and thats that, so yeah we were all carrying about these facemasks that if they were really protecting us from the coronavirus lingering in the air then we were being flagrantly irresponsible in our use, but deep down we all felt it wasnt, but we just had to wear one because it was the rule, but we all knew noone in the store had coronavirus

it may sound weird, but i think you know when someone has coronavirus, its like you can just tell, you know like other things you can just tell about a person, i remember i once went up to san francisco about a month ago, and i saw this guy on the muni line headed to the bayview that for sure had coronavirus, he wasnt coughing or anything, but i saw him and i knew he definitely had coronavirus, it wasnt because he was black or chinese or anything, this isnt like a hidden racist joke, i could just tell, i freaked out , and i havent gone up to the city since then, and then, lo and behold they announced that a muni driver got the corona and that the bayview district had the most corona cases in the cities, see sometimes you can just tell

im pretty sure that day i even had the corona on me, i mean i didnt get it, but im pretty sure it landed on my hand, but i washed it before i touched any of my mucous parts, but it was there with me, i dont think it was from the guy on the bus thought, i think it landed from this other guy, i went to a deli to buy water, bananas, coca cola and chocolate and this guy was kinda drunk and talking real loud and coming real close and i could feel the air get really moist when he passed by me and my hand was exposed and i know that at that moment some of it got on my hand, but i didnt panic, i knew i couldnt lose my cool, i had to just play it smooth, and wait till i could get to the studio and wash my hand and everything else, i was really thorough i walked the whole way back to the studio with my hand outstretched so it wouldnt touch my jacket or anything, i could feel it was there, it was for sure there, but i played it cool and washed it and nothing happen, but i was that close

and thats why you have to wash your hands because you could be that close too to having coronavirus, so see im not that crazy, that the reason they recommend us all to wash our hands, because at some point it could be that close to you, and if you don't wash your hand before your touch your eye, boom you got coronavirus, crazy to think that you too could have had coronavirus on you, and you could have, but now i think there isnt that much coronavirus on things anywhere, i think the coronavirus is like hiding or something, i think the coronavirus are like finding their niches and stuff, like if you ask me i think the coronavirus right now is probably somewhere where the sun dont shine, i bet it like flew to a a dirty dive bar that was totally shut down windows boarded and everything, but its there just chilling on the sticky counter, waiting to come back in the summer, i also think it might be at like some nasty to-go food place, like there is this wing place open till midnite around my house, i bet there is a little coronavirus there, but only a little bit, and its like one of the lazy ones, so i dont think it feels like jumping on anyone

at work i have to tell the staff how to wash their hands, i tell them they have to wash on top of their hand, palm of their hand, each finger, in between fingers, under the finger nails, and up to the elbow, but i mean if they have coronavirus, and their touching my food, i think its going to get on the to go box anyway, but its the rules so i play along, i even translated the rules, and told them to sign a paper, the paper also said that they had to wear a facemask, its not like they have multiple facemasks, i mean we are going to give them a few, but its up to them to wash it, one guy asked me if he could use the same one for a few days, i told him no, but i mean even if he washes his facemask before work and then lets say he puts it in his pocket, what if his jacket has corona but his facemask doesnt, itd be a real shame if his corona jacket infected his noncorona facemask, but i saw him and i dont think he had corona anyway

im repeating the same point and the rant is losing steam, so i gotta ramp it back up, or maybe no, maybe its not all just about ranting, maybe i should tell you some good things, like ill tell you about my run, the day was so nice, it was bright and sunny, and thats really all i gotta say, the point that i have more to say about right now is that i feel like im writing like that kid from catcher in the rye, that kid was a real case, i cant say i disliked the kid, but i wouldnt hang out with him, i mean in general i wouldnt be hanging out with high schoolers, but i might hang out with him after he grows up, i think we were all like that kid at some point, and the ones that arent, are soul dead and just go to work and drink craft beer and probably become those engineers without savoir faire that figure out the code to finish my email sentences

but i also feel that i am writing likes james joyce in ulysses, those are two books that i read from cover to cover ulysses and catcher in the rye, all it takes is a good fucked up guy to write something honest and you can get me to finish it, james joyce was all about stream of consciousness, crazy to think that ulysses is regularly named the best book of the century, and it wasnt even that bad of a century for books, it was a crazy book, and it was daring and new to just expose how he felt a person thought, and i mean it was pretty smart, because that is how we think, we jump around and we get nervous and self conscious and horny and we think in simple letters, and our memories associate things weirdly, i mean dante was the best writer of all the time, but i dont know anyone that thinks inside their brain in metered stanzas, if there was such a person, i dont know if id like to meet him, it would be a lot to handle good novels have taught me a lot, they've confused me too, but overall taught me things, see life is a grey thing, like there arent absolute values,

for us human beings, its easy to think of things as black and white, good and bad, yes or no, but thats not how it goes, there is a lot of grey area, and thats why i guess i liked ulysses, see the whole book is about this guy that is roaming around dublin, while he knows his wife is cheating on him, the last chapter is a stream of consciousness from his wifes mind, in which she just goes through her mind thinking about her past lovers and this guy she is cheating on her husband with, and ultimately she feels bad and when her husband climbs back into bed with her, shes like thinking oh there he is again, old leopold, but hes my leopold and she i guess kinda does admit to loving him, life hurts like that sometimes, a woman can still love you but cheat on you, a man can do it too, anyone can cheat on you, but still love you, anyone can hurt you and still love you, its a rough reality, remember i wrote an essay on this book, and the teacher said that i should save it and give it to the woman i marry it was so good, i didnt save it so i guess that wont ever happen, i cant even remember what i said, probably something about forgiveness and the abstract beauty of love, i was only twenty, i could have said anything

i wish i could remember what i wrote though, nowadays a lot of people are walking around with fear of intimacy issues, they are scared to open up to people, you know a lot of people are saying that they have intimacy issues, so i wanted to figure out more, i looked it up on wikipedia and it said there were four types of people, normal people that love themselves and can share intimacy with others, people that think themselves unworthy of intimacy but seek it, people that are scared of being intimate with others out of fear of rejection, and people that have self worth but think others are undeserving of intimacy, i think the whole thing probably comes from parental stuff, that's always the freudian way of looking at things, its kind of a shame because i think people really do like laying in bed and talking comfortably with someone after a wild fuck, when i wrote the essay i didnt have intimacy issues, but i might now, i dont know, and even if i did i dont know what type of of person i am, i guess sometimes people do say some stupid things, and stupid things out of a naked person are the worst kind of stupid things, whatever its wikipedia, anyone could have written, just like the original science study it supposedly based on,

ok this all getting too gooey and it lost its sharp vibe, i think that we were on a roll, when we were on the coronavirus landing places part, but then i get too serious and stuff, i do still want to talk about books i like, you know like thats one of the favorite things english teachers like to do, they like to analyze all the references that an authour made to other books, normally its the bible or the odyssey or some other greek or roman classic, like ulysses was modeled after the odyssey, i remember the teacher always talked about that, ive never read the odyssey or the iliad, ive heard they are great books, but i try not to say it myself, i do say that homer was a great poet though, but i never read his stuff, i mean ive read the first line, but i dont know the whole story or anything, i guess we are all hypocrites at some point or another, i do know however that ulysses was in one of dantes circles of hell, because he was advisor to deceit, the deceit of having that big horse full of soldiers go into to troy, so he ended up in hell, talking about hell that was another book they loved to reference, the bible, the bible doesnt see things grey, they see it black or white, this morning i woke up at four in the morning, and i couldnt get back to bed, so i pulled to a random spot and started reading proverbs, they make it seem so simple, this is good, that is is bad, i wish it were that simple, it used to be that simple like that when i was little kid, maybe it still is but, i just refuse to see it that way

So im minding my own business listing to the adventure zone and as i pay attention to how Griffin DMs... I am reminded of how luck I am of who my dm is... I really am so lucky... not that Griffin isnt an amazing DM.... mine just has a style that suits mine and personally i think the style is a lot better.

Griffin is a much more merciful dm and that, ive come to realize, doesnt add to the story. @knowledge-creates-power, my genius lil eggy boi, isnt as merciful. He can and has killed characters for major mistakes and he still will. I remember one session... Had i not had time to sit on this one of my characters, Minerva wouldnt have lived. She was trapped in an undead infested city with her two clumsy boyfriends and they had to outrun a vampire. I spent the week prior to the sessions calculating everything. I was given a time frame of how long Minerva had. She was faster than Havir (i think thats how you spelled his name), her speed being 35 ft and his being 30. I knew exactly how many turns i had to use just a movement instead of a dumb movement and everything. Had i not done that, these three characters would have died. These three are his second favorite ship. He LOVES the characters, but if it came down to it they will die if they have to. They still arent out of danger. They are now being hunted and its fun business. That same tiny little arc of Minerva in the undead city... Minerva made a mistake that will haunt her forever. She made a mistake and she has paid for it and will continue to. This is very well done story telling. I know in many stories massive mistakes even are forgotten.

There is so much depth to the world, characters, and story, especially the main big bad, Zorith. We dont know anything about the world. There isnt that much of written history and its all for the most part recent... i forgot how recent but i think it was maybe a few centuries? I believe he told me Strona, where this takes place, is the first civilization to actually be such that we know of. And it is catastrophically failing. We have had i believe several imbalances in power i believe. First it was Strahd that wanted control? but that part as very unclear. A lot in this campaign is. I am dating the dm so i get to know a lot because he rambles to me and it is so cuTE but i barely know the tip of the iceburg. So much depth. But the end of strahd was almost like the shift in balance for the dms? It switch from Meer to Josh. They both DM but Josh holds most of the power because this is HIS creation but Meer does help i believe. So we went from Strahd being a threat and another threat which didnt seem as much of a threat until the character we relied on a lot sided with him (Zorith). Strahd was eaten by a child dragon. That was how that ended. Then it almost looked like Kahn (the boi Zorith stole but didnt actually) was going to take over Strona, Raalis the mega sadistic asshole killed the king and took the power. All of this i believe has taken place in a short amount of time too. I kinda forgot where i was going with this but i think it was to point out how Strona is catastrophically failing at being a civilization. I also want to point out We have been at this a lot and he keeps pulling bull shit on us and it is so skillful and fun. Like we had to make an imporant desicion last session. Do we help Raalis’ troops win or the enemy’s because we dont know if we can trust the new guys but we DONT because one of the kids knows the leader of the resistance and hes a mega bad. yET ANOTHER MEGA BAD. how can this man keep track of so many villains. How do we defeat them all? I dont know and im excited. But like there is so much depth and im way off track. I dont even know what my examples were meant for. But i think the characters. The story? We have been at this for almost a year now but near the end it died down because busy schedules n some other problems but we are super excited to get back into it. two of us have tattoos for it and maybe some more tattoos to come~ but that isnt the point. We have been at this for a while. Josh joined us in Febuary but the campaign has been going on since August of 2018? We still dont know most of the motives from the big bad. I may know a lot... but nobody knows a lot on what is happening. We just got a reALLY NEAT PROPHECY im excITED FOR. As far as we are concerned i BELIEVE but i need to reafirm with Josh later because I think i know what Zorith wants to do but Nala (the only fucking adult in the party and we have 3 other characters and two npcs that have joined us) has only gathered that Zorith wants a lot of power or take over the world...

Oh goodness hdjfkg hello anon! a little about it.. lets see [pulls out a large file folder] TL;DR, plotty, angsty, relatable/likable characters (even the antagonistic ones), beautiful art style, beautiful aesthetic. A commentary on living with anxiety but like in a Classic kind of way. What's not to love?

The Glass Scientists is an ongoing webcomic by @arythusa (i'm sorry to @ you), it follows protagonist(s) Henry Jekyll (and narrator) Edward Hyde as Jekyll tries to keep it together enough to keep The Society for Arcane Sciences, a haven for London scientists looking to continue their art/studies, afloat in a superstitious, bitter London social scene. Actually, it mostly focuses on Jekyll's anxieties about that, and how it affects him. Everything that happens (or Has happened) is leading up to an event that hasnt taken place yet: the Grand Exhibition, an event where everyone will give presentations, and the people of london will love it, and the rich people of london will give them lots of funding money, so that the society doesnt. y'know. crash and bankrupt. Like one big science fair. Or at least Jekyll hopes.

Honestly? if you're someone with anxiety, intrusive thoughts, osdd(like i have!) or anything of the sort, you're going to LOVE this webcomic. probably. its just one of those things where you'll be reading it and you'll just keep going "OH SAME" the entire time. The depiction of Hyde as dual anxiety thoughts/the rejected parts of Jekyll's psyche given form just reads as so REAL and RIGHT. mad kudos to ms. sabrina!!

If you're someone who gets easily attached to Tragic Victorian Scientists™, watch out 'cause TGS has got many and More. I think I remember Jack Griffin from the Invisible Man (the H.G. Wells book, not the Ralph Ellison novel. sorry) in there. The cast is VERY varied and realistically diverse, and Begs for ocs, if you're into that sort of thing !

If it increases the appeal, every character is bi in-universe unless stated otherwise. I think this is gonna b a relevant plot thing later with jekyll and lanyon, but. who knows! There's a character who shows up later who - oh, no spoilers. But her gender might catch you by surprise. And shes not even the kind of character you can write off, too - shes There and Important and Complex as all hell. Not everything has been revealed about her yet, but? everything's lookin good so far. woohoo !!

Oh obviously I can't not mention that this comic is BEAUTIFULLY drawn and colored - theres lots of imaginative clutter in every panel. Every page pops with life. i'll pull up some examples, which were HARD to pick, because WOW:

but uhh, the author worked on cartoons like Gravity Falls and SVTFOE so sometimes that pops out a little in humor-focused panels. adds to the charm :)

Back in 2018 when I first started reading the webcomic (thank you ren you were SO RIGHT THIS COMIC IS SO GOOD) , the latest update was early in chapter 6. I think a friend of mine ( @flame-cat ) said smth about the latest update being at a halfway point? The comic updates every Monday (somethin to look forward to ;-;) so obviously it's not as short as it used to be, but. [shrugs].

gonna preface this with two things: 1) i do like amnesty!! i dont think its BAD or anything. and im not. slamming-slamming it & i think this was a vital part in taz for them to go through after balance bc these were some. vital things to learn from!!!2) also, sometimes when it comes to media: my perspective gets warped a little, given my memory, so if im being too harsh and not giving it rightful justice!! thats fair &

BUT ANYWAYS. REGARDING THE PROBLEMS? i think the two factors that, like, kind of butchered it for me go hand in hand: A) structure, time and pacing and B) them “overworking” the plot (i cant think of a better way to phrase that). these are two issues that kind of go... hand in hand, honestly, and bleed a lot into each other - maybe i would argue, that the former is the worse issue because it exacerbates the latter, but ehhh.

like it’s like: griffin has crafted a really beautiful, and creative story that i do admire! i believe that the mystery is something he worked very hard on, that the characters and the setting and the lore are all rich and vibrant. he’s passionate about it, for sure! and i do love amnesty, because especially as it’s concluding, a lot of that is presenting itself beautifully. like for real, i think he’s so fucking talented.

HOWEVER. when trying to adapt this story that he wants to present, to a podcast i think he made some missteps that kind of... hurt it, and hurt it badly.

like i said: time, structure, and pacing is probably the worse issue. this is a BIG story - a very big story - and one i would argue is even larger than balance, potentially. like balance was a pretty straightforward story, right? not knocking it for that: i adore balance’s structure, and that simplicity gave it strength. amnesty, however, is... there’s simply just more moving parts? at least, i feel like: like there’s more people. and more concurrent plotlines, that have stakes and are relevant.

and yet, its being done in half the time, and i think it just ... REALLY shows, you know? like it moves faster than it should- like it’s rushing through, going from point A to point B in a step-by-step plot griffin has written out. what hurt the MOST was that characters didn’t get to spend enough time together at all. like i always got the vibe travis wanted to spend more time with danny, but he didnt get to... the main trio barely have any time together, interacting... and as a result, it doesnt have the small moments, that balance did because those were some of the BEST parts.

like this sounds so awful, but i ccant really think of any memorable scene of all the PCs being together as one.

and as for the NPCs: this is again due to time,i think, mostly, but.... okay. this is going to be a little more controversial, but frankly? i cant remember, nor do i care for like. half of the NPCs. maybe thats harsh. and sometimes i had the same problem with balance (however i think its better suited... i could ramble a bit more about that, butsdjkjkgvp9sjg im already going off) but its like....... griffin kept introducing these EXTREMELY good characters. like fucking fantastic fucking ones that made us scream!!!! he’d do the little song at the end and the reveal for some of them, or something like that; or even just present us with some theoretically really cool characters, but...

but then......................... with the plot being pushed quickly forwards, other than their introduction? it sometimes feels like we barely got to know any of them, and theyre such untapped veins of potential it HURTS!! barclay is fucking bigfoot. he is FUCKING BIGFOOT. he is. b. . LIKE. OKAY. AREW. he’s BIGFOOT? HE’S FUCKING. NOT TO B THAT GUY. BUT HE’S FUCKING BIGFOOT. AND THATS HUGE, AND THE REVEAL WAS HUGE. but i dont think we’ve ever actually.... explored that. not in the way it deserves. same with so many others: the fact agent stern has, like, done nothing since his arrival but act as a mostly inconsequential obstacle and segue into some finale stuff is AAA!!!!!!! like theyve had a god damn fbi agent SITTING there amongst a lodge full of cryptids. and there’s so many more but my point is like... a lot of the time, its like he presented us with a really cool thing, we all went “OH MY GOD COOL!” and went apeshit because he did the thing with the outro, and then... he forgot about them.

like he just left them, bringing them back now and then. and obviously some characters are going to be like that: some characters are going to be minor, and pass in and out, and not be the big fan favourites everyone’s rooting for. that’s good, of course it is! but there’s just been so many, like, big exciting potential moments like that and its just fizzled.

and, i think kind of leading into the second point: because i think part of that was ALSO kind of due to the game system. i agree, that dnd was too much for what they want to do, even though balance was fun... but i think motw isn’t right either. instead of them, like, actually approaching and experiencing each situation like they would in balance, it was instead like constructing events and scenes every time? and there were lots of issues that stemmed from that.

the aforementioned pacing, and just them moving quick from big important scene to the next and it just wasnt.... always... organic. again, there’s none of this time between scenes; there’s none of this getting to know the characters; and instead its, like, creating VERY cool concepts and situations and setting them all up but then fizzling when it comes to execution. and i think that takes some of the energy and life out of it, you know? and it just feels all that more mechanic.

and like... controversial topic again, but griffin’s railroading? let me say: i’m absolutely FINE with him being a stricter GM than any would be in a normal game. certainly i was fine with that for balance, because though he directed them, and defined all their settings and objectives they still got to, like, actually play their characters interacting with one another and riffing together and building stuff up and though they were confined to wherever the arc was they made it their own through those interactions. you know what i mean? but amnesty doesnt have that, and instead griffin’s direction gets kind of just overbearing especially given the rest of it...........

in the end, a lot of the time? truthfully, i come away from amnesty thinking it would be better as an audio drama. it would suit it way, way more. because these “mistakes” are things that would work for that, and could be refined better if you were actually writing a script and stuff but instead it just feels directionless, and wishy-wahsy and middling between wanting to be an actual play and an audio drama but landing on neither and the result is.... underwhelming and .

which is a real shame. because i think if they approached this differently, amnesty could have been as strong, or maybe even stronger than balance, but... they didnt. like for real if the either made it longer, and did it a bit differently, or simplified the cast and different threads, then i think it would be insane.

but im kinda glad they did try this, you know? despite it all. sad that its been so long-running, that there’s still that potential that wasn’t quite reached, but... i really do think they’ll be so much better for it, with whatever they try next and this was a necessary learning curve. and like i also think this situation was almost somewhat inevitable as they came down from balance hype (diagnosed with trying too hard disease :pensive:). like im really fucking excited for what they have next

Lexa is dying.

«It’s going to be all right,» you whisper between tears while you try not to choke «You just have to hold on for a little more.» You gently stroke her cheek, afraid to hurt her even more «Help is coming.»

That’s a lie, and you know it. Nobody’s coming. Her mobile phone got lost in the accident and yours is just a black, cracked screen. Who killed you is burning in the pyre of their car. You pretended to call help just because Lexa wouldn’t stop screaming. Now that she can’t, though, you feel like utter shit – you feel like dying, again and again. Even more than how you already are.

Lexa coughs, and there’s blood on her hand. Blood as red as the one soaking the other hand, the wound, the balled-up shirt that can’t stop the bleeding.

«Clarke–»

«Shush» you stop her, and look back into her eyes. They’re filled with fear, fear of a monster that you cannot slay «Save your energy. You can do this.»

«I’m-I’m dying, Clarke.»

NO.

There’s firmness in her fleeting voice, as if all were already written. As if she had already seen it.As if it were obvious.It’s not.It is.She’s dying, Clarke. You know that since the moment you haven’t seen her getting out of the car on her legs.You can cry. It’s natural.

«You’re not dying,» you scream, and you break, again and again.

You’re so lost you don’t notice that Lexa’s hand that should be keeping pressure on the wound went up to clean the tears and the blood that are painting your face. And it doesn’t matter that you have a degree in Medicine and you save dozens and dozens of lives on a daily basis, at this point you are nothing. You just are Clarke, and you don’t know what to do.

«Don’t be afraid,» she reassures you «Everything’s going to be all right.»

«YOU’RE NOT DYING» you say louder, more desperate and desperate as the time passes «In a minute the ambulance will be here and we’ll go to the hospital and the doctors will fix you and you’ll live. You’ll live.» And you believe it for a second. Only a tiny second that makes you hope you won’t die with her «Then I’m gonna get you home and take care of you. And when you’ll be better we’ll make sweet, sweet love.»

Lexa almost bursts into laughter when you say those words – actually she just crumbles, barely not fainting. But the look she gives you is the same of every morning. It’s the same of when you wake up together in the same bed and start giggling like little girls.

«It’s not just sex? Since when-since when do we make love?»

«Since the beginning,» you whisper, with a sheer smile «Sorry if I never told you.»

She smiles too. And sighs. She seems happy.

«I’ve always known it.»

She closes her eyes.

«NO LEXA LOOK AT ME-»

She pries her eyes back open, and apologises. She’s cold. You give her your jacket without taking your eyes off her. She smiles again.

«Go on,» she asks «You stopped where we make love.»

And you don’t understand that she wants to die lulled by the sound of your voice. You don’t understand but you cry anyway – and this time you’re not ashamed – and go on anyway.

«What do you want to know?»

«Everything. Will it be beautiful?»

You nod, bite your lips, die a little more.

«More than anything else. I will be on top of you and will tickle you, cause I know that even if you always play it cool, you’re just as scared as I am. I will cover every single part of your body with kisses, slowly, with devotion, taking all the time in the world. Because we deserve it.»

When Lexa closes her eyes again, you let her go.She’s shivering.You sob, without shame.

«Our hands will be intertwined in the perfect joint we never needed to find. And we will love each other, and the rest of the world will disappear. And there won’t be anything else but us and the shrinking space between us, and the sound of our kisses, our fingertips, our moans.»

You try to breathe. You fail. Tears fall down your face and land on Lexa’s hair, getting confused with the blood and the asphalt. The sky watches you die, unmoved. For a second you ask yourself what there will be after. After death, after this godforsaken night, after someone will have found the two of you and will have saved only your life.You already know it, don’t you? Do you know there will be nothing?You go on anyway.

«When you’ll come you’ll do it quietly, without a noise, like always. Only a lament that will leave my name on your tongue – wrinkled nose and tiptoes – and my lips on yours, and a smile that will taste too much like a confession. Background Story

Three weeks ago, she left me. When i was at my worst and bad, she left. Came back last week and said she’s sorry. She said she was in agony and not happy at all ( which is true, i can see that ). I forgave her. I told her once i will love her forever and I will always be there for her when she needs me. That two weeks of being separated, i was desperate , lost and devastated. I felt like i lost everything. To me she was my everything, i am willing to give up everything just for her. That’s how much i love her. We’ve been together for nearly two years, staying together, eating together, sleeping together and cuddling with each other every night.

Well, let’s throw back to two years ago when we first met. We knew each other online through a social chat named WeChat. We were in a common groupchat where all the LGBT gathered. I was attracted by her profile picture so i went and purposely talk to her to make her notice me. Yup i succeeded, she did noticed me and private messaged me. From there we slowly chatted and turn to calling everyday and then video calling everynight before we sleep. We were from different city and when i moved to Singapore to work, she just finished her studies. She wanted to come to Singapore to meet me for just a few months before she go back to continue her studies. Well, that few months became nearly two years now. We got together after staying together for nearly a month. We were like the sweetest couple to everyone around us who knew about us. But after 2 months of being together some things happen. She have a group of friends where she only know them through social media as well and communicate through Twitter. Apparently they have been friends for a few years already. Things starts to feel weird when i realised that my gf starts to ask me weird stuffs like “Would you still want to be together with me if you know that being together with me will make you suffer in hell?” Of course at that point of time i said “Yes, I will” Then she was getting all worried and she was acting suspiciously. Keep telling me things about Hell and all. She even went to the church saying she need to confess and all. Then i said okay, stop! What is happening? At first she refused to tell me but after me being super annoying and keep forcing her finally she told me the truth.

She said her that group of friends told her that she is supposed to be together with a guy name “Shawn” ( which is one of the guy she used to talk too and also one of the guy in that Twitter Group ). Then she said that they said that me and my gf being together is a SIN. Okay, i can accept that not everyone accept LGBT, I can also accept that in religion LGBT is one of the 7 biggest sin ( im not really sure ) but what i cannot accept is when they said Shawn will have to sacrifice and “burn” to allow us to be together. WTF?! Okay at this point of time if you think that i am crazy of my gf is crazy, i personally think it’s normal. Because i thought she was crazy as well at first. And no she was not on Drugs. Anyway She’s my gf, i have to trust her. I told her i love her, she really want to give me up for someone you only talk to online and never even see him before? A lot of hoo haa went around and in the end she choose to continue to be together with me. She’s afraid to hurt them so she told them that she broke up with me.

Okay, this group of people claim to be Psychic. Oh god i really don’t know anything about this at all. But this is from what i understand and heard. They’re a protector of certain country and they use a word called “Clan”. So for example they’re like from England’s Clan, Malaysia’s Clan and bla bla bla. They often change their names and i don’t know why. And apparently, they’re not supposed to be known for God knows what reason because they were super angry when my gf told me everything about them.

I personally want to share about this because i feel this is not right. I dont want anyone else to be like my gf. Shawn’s full name is Shawn DelRoy. And the whole family with DelRoy’s name is involved in this. Next is someone called Sirina Phimhana ( apparently she died being hunted by dont know what. Another one is Danny Louis , Syafina Zuhanis but doesnt use her real name. The name she use is ( Abby, Aries ) Then another person name Vallence Griffin, Zhavia Crastairs , Remington, Leonard Darien, Damien Morgan, and lastly Lucianna Julianne Bianchi also known as ( July, Lucianna Juliette Bianchi ) Okay the names might change or what I really don’t know. But i really think that there’s a need to spread about this as they’re making people’s life difficult. My gf and the girl name Abby have been living in stress by worrying of what they always say. had a dream, worried about it. Have a bf/gf but it’s not the one that you’re supposed” to be with, worried about it. Heard something, worried about it. Felt something, worried about it. Like OMG why are you making yourself so stressful?!

Okay so remember from the start i said my gf left me? Because they told her that Shawn is half bodied burn and one arm gone ( a sacrifice for her ) Apparently Shawn is sacrificing for her sin ( OMG sounds like he’s Jesus ) So my gf is a very kind hearted woman and she have been living in guilt for the past two years just because they told her this. Then she decided to leave me and break up with me so that Shawn can start to heal and they say that by leaving me she will be closer to God too because I am evil. Okay... But i was not willing to give up. Being together with her for nearly two years i know our love came not easy and i know we love each other very very much. I will never give up on her. I did a lot of things that is stupid like killing myself and going out with random boys to get her attention because i know she still cares. But none work. She still leave and went back to her hometown. She said she felt free and happy there, but i know she was not. Being together for nearly two years, sleeping beside each other going through everyday i know how you look when you’re happy and when you’re not. I knew that she was very stressful and was living in agony every single day.

She left her certificates with me and she wanted me to courier it back but i told her that I couldnt find it and told her to come back and look for it herself. Then i knew she always love Hinduism and always curious about it. I went around to look for a Real Master that can answer all her questions and doubts on herself. When she came back, i brought her to this Master and then only she realise that how all this were so absurd. She apologise to me and say she’s wrong. She love me. I told her, i will always be by her side and i will never give up on her. No matter what happen. Till now, the twitter group of friends still dont know that she’s back together with me. And they message her and say that Shawn is recovering and healing. I looked to my gf and say “He’s still healing when we’re already sleep together for so many days”. I am not sure if all this is true or not but this is too much and too unbelievable. My gf quit being a free thinker and follow her heart in pursuing Hinduism. She posted about it and suddenly they post a lot of things about Hinduism as well. So i asked my gf “Isnt this suspicious?” She did agree with me. Okay in my opinion This group of people like to pull people together and use the name of God to make you think that they’re very holy and good. They are very knowledgeable. They know a lot about different religion. Then they will say like they’re a good devotee of the religion you believed in. This is my opinion, i am not sure as well. But i just hope that no one will fall for this again. Please don’t give up on the person you love and also the person that loves you. It’s VERY PAINFUL. VERY. VERY. PAINFUL. I hope everyone will love each other and everyone around you. Don’t hurt others and be firm on what you believed in. Dont lose faith just because others tell you otherwise.

takin down some dream notes but this one is super scattered cause i dont remember the flow of things well

so one part that i remember particularly well is that like im in this place with several people i know and several junk npcs but like the place is dark and damp and generally run down but it has a soft dark green type of lighting going on as well

like the greens dark and soft enough that it doesnt really look too much like its the light but im p sure that was from light cause most surfaces were concrete

anyways the bathroom in this place is fucken weird cause like its this like four sided stair pyramid with a hole in the top and on the hole is this small plastic basin and im like “k i gotta pee” and then i head in and im like okay so you just gotta go in the basin whatever

but someone else goes before me and at the base of the stairs is this little hollow toilet shaped thing like the whole thing is just plastic and wont move even though it has a lifted lid on it and everything its just hollow plastic

oh also the basin and toilet are made out of a thin plastic of the same dark green as the tint on everything

anyways the base of the toilet is about the size of the basin and its really hard for me to fit it on when i get my go at it and after a while of trying to just set it on at weird angles cause it wont fit i just give up like “i might need to pee really badly but yknow what ill just hold it cause fuck this”

another part was that i was at this weird buffet type thing but it was also some kind of meeting for an organization and i dont think i was actually a part of it like i was infiltrating it for some reason but that piece of the plot is completely lost even though id like to know it cause the npcs i was sitting around were people i knew from outside of this as well but they werent like in on it exactly even though they werent invested in the organization either

i went up and got this huge fucken thing of ice cream cause most of this place is just the dessert bar for some reason like this gob of ice cream is in a giant ceramic bowl thats oblong in shape and decorated ornately with like the whole white ceramic with blue patterning that you find on a lot of fine china

for some reason i got chopsticks to eat this with and everyone else at the table i knew would want some souvenir chopsticks cause you were usually supposed to buy them like this was a modified gift shop or something so i just wind up jamming four pairs of chopsticks into this huge gob of ice cream ive got and i had two other npcs pick out the pairs i nabbed and also i grabbed this pretty purple set for my girlfriend to take back and a green and gold set for my nbfriend even though the pattern was kind of ugly but i couldnt find a better one

at some point there was an npc that was sort of griffin mcelroy doing some kind of interview for the organization at a table in the cafeteria room of this buffet and i was super jazzed to just meet him but he was in a cloak and i think we werent supposed to recognize him so i didnt make a big deal out of it but i made some mbmbam references and he chuckled at those but im p sure that was like politeness cause the references werent really funny in context although they also didnt seem to bother him like genuinely he was unperturbed by me doing it at least

i also vaguely recall some part of the setting unrelated to this at some point being like a dark tunnel but this was more of like a deep purple in the little color that it had and it somehow led up to this elevated room that had a screen wall facing out to the outside but was still dark cause it was cloudy and it had a wooden floor and a wooden table near to the wall with the screen and i think some of the organizations important higher ups were doing something in there that i dont remember

after the buffet me and a couple of other npcs go out to try to find our lodging accommodations and i remember that its on ninth and [other street name i forget] and lo and behold we spill right out onto the street and we are already intersecting ninth so we just go down that one and im dead convinced im remembering it wrong but just as i pull up the address to check it boom there we are

right next to the entrance of this run down apartment building that we are staying in is also a big switch to a power grid for the area and that was important but i dont remember why and also for some reason it was surrounded by these pipes and vents that were just gushing out steam

also the street was bright and sunny and there were only a few scattered clouds in the sky which now that im thinking about it was weird cause how does time and lighting work in this place but it wasnt strange while i was having the dream so okay

anyways back in the dark place which may have been related to the apartment building but i dont remember i sit down at a computer in a room with a few other machines in it and some games and stuff and im like hell yeah time to get my stepmania on except it was this cool fusion of osu and stepmania where some of the steps were more arcade like in their mechanics and a lot of the holds would scroll left and right across the screen so youd have to do something special to keep track of them and like one of the jump-hold steps was cool cause if you held onto the jump too long or hit it too early the other part of the step needed to have a path to cross over it and the hold would create a barrier unless you lifted up at the right time which was neat but i totally fucked it up and missed lolol

also at one point i got back home and maybe this was a different dream by this time i think but like

i just start talking with both of my significant others about how much of the house maintenance i havent been doing and how ive been slacking off about everything and making everyone else do all my chores and shit and have a breakdown about how little i contribute and how everyones giving me too much credit for doing things i dont actually do

so i just kind of sat there and cried about that for a while but it felt kind of nice to get that off my chest in the dream at least

thoughts on lucretia

in a lot of the arguments about Lucretia is whether or not shes a good person, and i think its missing the real question of: regardless of her character, did she make a good or bad choice? now, obviously at the point of this post (ep 61) we dont know everything and im sure griffin still has a ton of revelations in store, but from what we know right now i think she has made several terrible choices, at the very least.

we know she didnt agree with splitting up the light of creation but at least she knew the plan and had a voice in it all, because her plan involved (some of this is just plain fact and other is speculation based off of a decent amount of evidence):

making everyone lose over 100 years of memories without their knowledge OR consent. this in particular seemed to fuck up barry, taako, and davenport. lich barry tells his human form that he knows he has a big ache in his chest in this form that his voidfished self cant figure out, taako hears his sisters voice and his heart swells to the point of anguish since he cant recall who this incredibly important voice is. then davenport literally can only remember and say his fucking name yet lucretia chose that.

i also 100 percent think she killed barry that first time or at had a heavy hand in it at the very least. griffin went out of his way to tell us that the first time barry died on this planet he fell out of the fucking sky and was dead before he hit the ground. where else from the sky would he have come from if not their ship?? now what barry may have seen lucretia do/plan is completely up to speculation, but hes so pissed he tries attacking her the first time he sees her after his human form drinks the baby voidfish ichor (and he doesnt learn lup is dead until after the crystal kingdoms arc, so all his anger at lucretia from before that wasnt, at least initially, about lup). not to mention lucretia had the lich holy symbol repellant, and clearly really didnt want specifically barry up there when she couldnt have given less of a shit about the others, and even if barry regained his memories in lich form its not like he could anyone; it wouldve just come out as static. so why was she so desperate to keep barry out? why would she think that barry was so hell-bent on attacking her?

now im less sure about her involvement in lups death, but i think she at least knew about it before taako even found lups body in the chamber. she knows and tells the tres horny boys that lup is dead, which, yeah, she might’ve inferred from seeing taako with lups umbrella, but if she already knew where the gauntlet was before she pulled strings and got them in touch with gundron, then theres no way she didnt know lup was in there. which comes to the biggest question: how did she know?

The government just keeps borrowing more money just blatantly and financing just the most ridiculous craziest projects I mean I mean a lot of people are in a way to this but some of that kind of your take on this job a bigger license is servitude and we know who they’re in servitude to the government’s and I think that’s one of the main takes away from this is what are we doing to protect ourselves of course there’s many different ways to protect ourselves lots of solutions, dad just said there that he’s fed up with this it. I think that’s a no pun intended of course but I think that there was a bit of a pain there because once people realize that the Federal Reserve System is pushing them into servitude they are losing their losing their purchasing power everyday to go to work at the tax they are losing money off their paychecks I think it’s absolutely disgusting. But I do see a lot of solutions out of that and those Solutions also include a sad to know if I cash flow out and you know I obviously throughout history Racine that and of course centralized cryptocurrency for the time being not saying that especially what is going to happen down the line with that for the time being I mean competing currency systems are great and we got to get out of the legal tender sit down and stop being a debt slave because of course they shutting down a bottomless pit of debt you’re forced to ask for a ladder up from the government and the banking system which perks you in perfect servitude right where they want to say that to me unless and I take out of it a geographer I still want to emphasize the incredible work that you’ve been doing for decades warning people hate pretty corrupt what they say they’re doing and now we’re finally in position will it ever ever kind of kind of Reckoning.
