i did the whole kaveh hangout and it was perfect, but the part i most come back to is when kaveh’s mom met alhaitham’s parents and was like “these guys are so fucking boring and weird, i don’t think we’ll be friends” when, if they had lived, they would have been her son’s in-laws

🫧 — NOT SO SECRET CONFESSION :
# genshin impact !
Tumblr media
⌗ a/n : I changed it a little. the original request wasn't like the one I'm writing but definitely a lot same. I hope this is also to your liking :D
⌗ warning : slight angst(zhongli), your best friend being so real.
⌗ characters : kaeya , diluc, zhongli, kaveh & gn!reader
Tumblr media
「 summary 」 : your crush was just passing by the little cafe downtown for some errands. while you were talking about your ideal type, it was clear it could only be one person and even you said it was him. however, you were unaware of the same man eavesdropping on your conversation with a very obvious blush on his face. so could this be the start to a budding love?...
Tumblr media
‣ 𝐊𝐀𝐄𝐘𝐀
Klee wanted to get a few pastries from the bakery in mondstadt, so he was put to the job. While he was returning, he heard the voice of a very familiar person. 'Oh? it seems like knight y/n is slacking off,' he thought to himself. He wanted to ask why you were here, but he stopped as soon as he understood the topic of your conversation with a colleague.
"Honestly, any man who is tall, dark-skinned, and has long hair is a solid 10/10 for me. They would be eye candy for sure." Your friend agreed with you saying,"Very real of you y/n, but why does that sound like someone WE know...". "We know someone who looks like this?" Kaeya is no fool. The description you provided does trace back to the only prominent figure in mondstadt that has the same features. He was breathing heavily, and his heart was thumping in his chest. "Wait... yeah, it does sound like someone we know..." "It's the cavalry captain kaeya, isn't it ?" There it is, there was his name. His eyes widened partly from shock and partly from relief, knowing that his secret crush also crushes on him. He peaked at you from the corner of his eye, and you were just as flushed as him. "Well he does look very...handsome. Do you think I should uhhh try telling him how I feel or should I wait some more?" you asked your friend.
He departed from the cafe where you were since he had to return. He hopes that you will come to tell him your feelings at the earliest. He's not that patient when it comes to his love life. It's better if you confess to him. Otherwise, he might have to step up his game...
‣ 𝐃𝐈𝐋𝐔𝐂
It's the work hours, and he needs to get the tavern job done and bring the ice cubes since they have run out of it. Handing over the work temporarily to Charles, he dashed his way towards the designated shop when he heard a very familiar voice. Who was this again ? Oh, it was the regular customer of Diluc every night at exactly 10 p.m. He favoured you quite a lot. Free drinks, empty reserved seats in a quiet corner, and so and so. It was quite clear to people close to Diluc that he was your secret admire, though they never admitted it. So imagine his feelings when he overheard your conversation that also shows your true feelings towards him...
He's a gentleman, and he doesn't like eavesdropping, but the conversation that he happened to chance upon piqued his interest. "Tall, mysterious, rich, handsome, long hair, will cry for me and in front of their mother. This sounds like a dream guy for the girlies!" Your friend looked at you with a cheeky grin and said "oh I know the one who you're talking about!" You squealed,"Don't say so loudly! shhh...what I'd they hear it, " you said in an embarrassed tone. Diluc was expecting to hear his name the most but felt as if it might not be him. 'what if its not me?' he thought. But his worries would melt away with the name. "it's master diluc! I knew it he WAS the best man for you y/n".
Diluc heaved a sigh of relief. Getting his feelings reciprocated was one of the best things that ever happened to him. Not only was he a man of few words, but he also rarely showed his emotions. The prospect of being with you in the future, smiling with you, spending most of his time with you. You could be the very light that would shine upon him in his dark night.
‣ 𝐙𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐋𝐈
He was stoic and often came as impertinent to many women and his colleagues. You were, however, different from the ones he has come across. You patiently listened to him and even made remarks if necessary. Later, he felt these feelings rising up in his chest. His heart would thump heavily in his chest whenever he would meet you, he would often get flustered whenever you would be around. But...he was good at hiding these feelings ! so you couldn't even know if he felt the same as you ! but he soon found his answers upon...eavesdropping...
He was passing by Yuehai Pavilion after getting Director Hu's job done. But he heard your voice, and although it was quite rude, he couldn't help but hear what the topic of the conversation was that got you so hyped up. "Gentlemen with a favourable gait, tall and long hair is what I seeketh," you friend snickered, "drop the accent, but where will you find such a man? It's basically impossible to find someone who fits your standards lower your expectations y/n. " You frowned, "But I know this man! he fits, no...breaks the bars I tell you!". Zhongli wasn't feeling jealous at all. No, no. But he thought, 'There can't be a man who resembles your taste except me. I am what people say god-carved'
Lo and behold, there was his name being mentioned. "It's Mister Zhongli, isn't it? Good luck having your shot at him. He looks rather stone cold to be able to reciprocate how you feel y/n." Zhongli wouldn't deny that. That's just how he's been described all his life by people. But he felt sad because what if you pushed him away because of his personality?. He sighed and walked away since he couldn't leave work for so long with a heavy heart.
"I love him for who he is. He is a great guy his personality is nothing like how they make it up. He is rather sweet and gentle. How about I ask him out after his work has ended?". And thus marked the end of your conversation with your friend.
‣ 𝐊𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐇
He's always had a puppy crush on you since the time you two were students at the akademiya. It's just that he never mustered up the courage to go up and ask you out. Although he would sneakily drop hints that he does like you in conversations and touches that would last longer, you never picked those up. He was quite disappointed but adjusted himself day by day. But it all shatters into pieces during that one faithful day, and he again finds himself returning to how he was back when you two were young.
He sat down by a fountain observing the scenery before him. He carefully sketched it into his canvas. He had total concentration until that one familiar voice and that one familiar way of saying his name that he heard. 'Oh, it's my past crush... Will they remember me?'
He didn't mean to eavesdrop, but your talk seemed a little...attractive since you wouldn't really get THIS worked up over someone or something. "and this is precisely why I find myself liking blondes! tall, lean figure, and artistic face and blonde, blonde, blonde!" Your friend scoffed and said "yes yes fine! I get it that you like blondes. But is there even anyone that matches your description of an almost dream-like significant other?". You pondered on that topic for a while, and on the other hand, Kaveh was also thinking, no, distressing if there truly was anyone who had the face that caught your gaze. He frowned. Until he heard you say his name. his name.
"Kaveh fits the standard for me! he looks just like a dream! how can you not like his personality, charisma, and his face." Your friend smiled and said, "Looks like you found who you like. Have a go at him. I'm sure he will show the same feelings as well." That had to be the best day of his life. Although you were unaware of his presence, he hoped that you would keep him in your mind until you confessed.

⋆⁺₊❅⋆ 𐙚 ₊˚𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒉 𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒉 𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒉 . al haitham x fem reader
warnings ꒱ྀི blowjob. kaveh is hinted to have a crush on you :c / wc ꒱ 1.5k / 18+
Tumblr media
a string of expletives tumbles from the back of his throat, followed by a deep groan akin to a growl.
there’s a slight pain wracking through his body from his fingernails biting into the hardwood desk — as well as the jagged edge that pokes his back, but he remains still. if he moved even an inch, he’d lose focus.
al haitham felt as if celestia was within his reach, like he could part the clouds himself if he wished. the pleasure elevated him past his ever-thinning threshold of patience— so much that he’s almost able to ignore the week he’s had as the acting grand sage.
his new title, temporary but nonetheless, his responsibility, and just like that al haitham has to come back down to earth, just for a little.
though his head runs in circles, he has to ground himself. he has to remember where he is, who he is, and that he cannot let his guard down completely.
after all, it's vastly inappropriate to have his girlfriend on her knees and give in to the blinding warmth generated by the stickiness of her tongue.
but the slow lift and come down of your mouth, each suck pulling him closer to the imaginary edge, made it too simple to drift off far away in the back of his thoughts.
his balls are warm and plump waiting to be emptied, and when you involuntarily swallow when they tap your chin, al haitham has a full body shudder. his abdomen is tight and tense, preparing for the sudden flash of heat and pleasure that would soon engulf him.
he’s just a corner away from pumping your throat with his load. just a few more deep and sloppy thrusts of his hips until the chase was over, and then maybe he could get through the rest of the day in higher hopes.
but of course, like the easily distracted creature you are, you unceremoniously paused in the midst of your ministrations. you suckle around him for a brief second and look up in curiosity.
his hips jerk, trying to find purchase in the back of your throat once more, but you remove that sweet little mouth from his cock.
an audible and wet shlick as you depart from his member, and his dick bobs up and down, spit leaking from his pink head.
it takes a moment for al haitham to catch himself.
“what is it ?”
he looks down and sees your glittery eyes and a string of spit hanging from your mouth that he can’t ignore—runny drops of his semen dangle from your bottom lip. your dark lashes and eyes big and innocent as a hare could almost dissipate his slight frustration, but your precious fucking face makes him harder. now he misses the warmth of your mouth even more.
“haithy, don’t we have a reservation for heaven’s night ? what time is it?” you trail off, eyes searching for the grandfather clock tucked in the corner of the wall.
you squint. half past 4. you gasp.
“oh no, kaveh is gonna be so upset. he doesn’t like it when we’re late.” you shift to rest your bottom on your heels and al haitham sighs.
it’s hard to think when his aching cock was in front of your face, but at the mention of his roommate's name, he grimaces.
“we have time,” he says coolly, “and kaveh is always aggravated no matter what.”
he rubs your cheek before dragging his hand to the back of your head. licking his lips, he gently pushes you toward his groin. the pants of air on his cock make it twitch from the warm breeze. his eyes twinkle once more at the sight of your plump lips ready to enclose around his shaft. . . until you pull away. again.
“aww. . don’t be mean, haithy. I wouldn’t say that he’s aggravated. I actually find him to be more passionate if anything .”
he huffs.
al haitham wants you to, just this once, stop talking, but you don’t seem to understand his plight despite it being right in front of you.
throbbing.
and wet.
your mouth moves, but he’s barely listening and still you keep going, rambling about kaveh. all he could think about was using your mouth for something else.
he had to interject. if he didn’t, he’s more than certain you’d keep going, and he couldn’t have that when you robbed him of his orgasm.
he motions to speak, hoping it will end your little chatters.
“there’s a thin line between passion and aggression, and he crosses it. every time,” he punctuates.
“and kaveh is infatuated with you. he just wants to go out to dinner with us so he can delude himself into thinking he’s on a date with you, while he just ignores me the entire time.”
you make a sudden squeal and open your mouth to protest such a claim, but he cuts you off before you even start.
“and I don't care what kaveh thinks. you're my girlfriend, yeah? so stop talking about him.”
your lips stretch into a pout at his bluntness, and your cheeks flare up. the whirs in your brain twist and clank and you feel . . . embarrassed all of a sudden.
infatuation?
such a strong word, and yet al haitham didn’t seem bothered by that revelation. slightly contemptuous, sure, but not at all upset.
“ w-what do you mean? he’s not infatuated—“ you stutter, and you whisper the last word in utter disbelief but your boyfriend only reaches for you.
“shhh.” he places a steady palm on your head to urge you closer. molded together like a puzzle piece, you melt into his touch— your fussiness already a thing of the past.
you open your mouth obediently. your tongue twirls around before flipping out, waiting for him.
“uh-huh. just like that.”
he grabs his cock and strokes it, rotating his hand around the tip with a tight grip. he’s getting off to your dazed and erotic expression, squeezing just under the head. all he needs to do is bring his hips a little forward. more cum beads, a transparent white, and he wants to see dance on your tongue.
he slowly inches to your awaiting mouth until —
"wait . . .” you whine.
al haitham lets out a long exhale, cursing silently. his eyes sharpen and the grip on your head tightens, gently pulling on loose strands of your hair that slipped out of your ponytail
"what is it now, my love?"
such a delicate choice of praise, but you can feel the frustration through his fingertips
you giggle at his clear agitation.
"im sorry for being so annoying and. . . i love you.”
it’s not like you meant to be such a bother, but you can’t help that your brain just wanders and your mouth just babbles. but it’s what he liked the most about you. a mind with boundless thoughts and imagination. there’s just something about an innocent curiosity untainted by the ruins of the world that he found so alluring.
al haitham dryly chuckles and the corner of his lips upturned into a smirk
“never apologize.”
he traces the outline of your lips with his thumb before pressing on it. “and I love you too.”
you give him a wide and sweet smile and just as you acknowledge his affirmation, your mouth is already pressed against his pelvis, his cock lodged inside your throat.
he humps your mouth—fucks it like he’s using your cunt. your cute and choked gags around him send him into a frenzy. his arm bulges with lean muscle as he drags your head up and down his thick cock like you were a little dolly. your eyes cross at the display of dominance.
"you're cute like this, you know. “the wetness from his thrusts are nearly deafening. “—with my cock in your mouth.”
his hand strokes your throat, caressing his bulging shaft from the outside as if to say, ‘feel that?’. It's obscene, he’s obscene, and it renders you into nothing but a frilly pliant mess.
“as much as I love hearing you speak, I like it when you listen too.”
in between your thighs are sticky as he uses you to his own completion. his tip hits the back of your throat and you were sure you’d feel it tomorrow . “— your mouth — looks so small on my cock.”
he’s enamored by the view. your hands lay flat on your lap and feet tucked under your butt.
audible sounds of his flesh sliding over your tongue, caressing thin veins and folds of skin fill the office. he rubs your scalp, and you moan, sending vibrations through his body.
“stay still for me.”
and you do. you know that’s going to occur. a rush of anxiety came down knowing it was only a matter of seconds before his release.
you straighten your posture and do your best to not move. the scribe’s bottom half twitches against your mouth, and you welcome the thick spurts that warm your throat. you gulp down his cum like it was a sugary milky treat, tasting every drop and a surge of arousal rushes through you.
nose mushed against his tummy, you look up and meet his needy stare. you can smell his scent — sweaty mixed with a vanilla amber, and his eyes flicker between yours and the mouth that swallowed his entire cock. the tension is palpable as he stares at you with a hungry desire that even surprises you.
and as for your reward, he pats your head.
“good pup.”

"I MISSS YOU<3" and they probably just sweatdrop at this because they were just planning to go out just for a while
Thank you for being so patient and don't worry, this idea gave me a ton of motivation, because.. OH MY GOSH THATS SO FREAKING CUTE!!<3
─⊰⊹ฺ✿𝔾𝕖𝕟𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕟 ℍ𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕔𝕒𝕟𝕠𝕟𝕤⊰⊹ฺ✿─
{༻~Miss you already~༺}
CW: Fluffy!! Modern AU! Kaveh calls the reader honey! Reader is tilted so no one gets who's talking confused!
(Includes: Alhaitham, Tighnari, Kaveh, Wanderer, and Cyno!)
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
𑁍༄Alhaitham:
When Alhaitham suggested you called or messaged him whenever you were missing him greatly, he hadn't expected to see your number show up after only being gone two minutes... certainly you couldn't be that lonely already... right? He sighed, answering with a quiet, "Hello?" It was like he could hear the smile that played on your lips when he actually picked up and the happy tone of your voice actually did make him feel a little homesick, "Alhaitham you should come back, I miss you!"
"I haven't even been gone 3 minutes..."
"You say that like you think 3 minutes isn't forever!"
"I'll be back soon, I'm just going to the store."
"Well let's talk on your way there then, I miss you being with me in person, but hearing you talk can quench my addiction for the time being!" He chuckled slightly at your words as if they were silly, but ended up going along with your plan anyway, chatting with you the entire walk to the store, even during shopping and the walk back, until he was home with you once again, holding you in his arms while you told him over and over how much you missed him.
𑁍༄Tighnari:
Tighnari pulled his phone out of his pocket, aware it had buzzed three times now with new messages and he hadn't even made it a quarter of the way to his destination, had he forgotten something? As far as he could tell he wasn't missing anything, he typed his pin and your messages became visible...leaving him shaking his head with a flustered smile.
You: Come back!
You: I miss you to much already!
You: Pleaaase!! I'll make you cookies!
He was seconds away from typing his response when you started calling, leaving him no choice but to answer with a slightly sarcastic chuckle, "You couldn't even last 2 minutes could you? I'm starting to worry you're obsessed with me." He could hear your laughter on the other end and it made his heart skip a beat, maybe he was just as obsessed with you as you were of him.
"You're only now starting to worry about that!? You should come back home and we can talk all about your worries!"
"I'm just returning my book, I'll be back soon."
"I wasn't lying about making cookies..."
He paused mid step thinking about making the warm desserts with you...technically the book wasn't overdue, he could turn it in tomorrow and then he'd still get cookies...
"I know your considering it! Come back! I'll give you extra kisses too!"
The fox sighed in defeat...extra kisses winning him over as turned around.
𑁍༄Kaveh:
Kaveh smiled at the screen, his favourite picture of you displayed alongside your number as the phone rang, he hadn't even made it out of the driveway yet and he could still see you through the window, but he'd made a promise to answer no matter what, after all, he never wanted you to be lonely, "Hi honey..."
"You kept your promise!"
"Of course I did! I do have to get to work though and you know I can't call and drive."
"I know...but I just, missed you already! And knowing you're going to be gone for work all day...I'm going to miss you so much!"
He glanced at you through the window again, noticing the genuine sadness flick across your features at the thought of him being gone all day and he had to admit, it made him want to stay, "I'll call you when I get to work and then you can message me all you like, I'll answer the second I can."
"Promise?"
"I promise...I love you honey."
"I love you too!"
𑁍༄Wanderer:
Wanderer knew this was going to happen, he regretted his words the second they left his lips and as he stared at your number, the annoying song you'd chose for your ringtone playing loudly for everyone to hear, he wondered what had ever made him think this was a good idea in the first place, still he knew if didn't answer he you'd just keep calling, so begrudgingly he picked up, "...hello?"
"Whatcha doin..."
"You know full well I'm walking to the laundromat to pick up our laundry."
He listened as you giggled in the background and for a split second his annoyance ceased to exist,...you really had such a effect on him, stupid human, "How about...you come back and we get the laundry together! I can help carry!"
"I don't need help."
"...just come back so we can walk together. I miss you."
He rolled his eyes at your neediness, despite also finding it kinda cute, "I'm not walking back just cause you have separation anxiety."
"Finnnnne but you better answer all my messages then!"
"...just so you don't miss me to much."
"Yay!!"
𑁍༄Cyno:
Cyno had just barely shut the door behind him when his phone started ringing, he didn't even make it one step and you had already tested his suggestion?, "Is everything alright?"
"Yep! I just missed you!"
"I haven't even left our doorstep yet..."
"Annnd?"
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
His cheeks blushed slightly as he glanced through the window in the door, smiling at you while you waved at him, "You're right I have no argument, seems I'm at a loss for words. You could even say I've lost my window of opportunity to come up with some."
You rolled your eyes at his pun and yet still ended up giggling for some reason, "Yeah well then... you could say I'm waving my flag of victory! My reward...one more kiss?"
Cynos eyes met yours and he nodded in response, "One more kiss.."

Alright, imagine reader has a daughter who looks exactly like her and she'll ask "Who's my father?" to her mother but reader tell her to guess it herself
The little girl stared right at you, a pout forming on her lips before she quickly schooled her facial expressions - well, as best as she could for a nine year old.
"I will." She hmphed. "When I figure it out will I get a prize?"
It wasn't really a question. You had to suppress a smirk at the overly confident attitude. Only a child as young and naive as your own would act so openly in front of you. Even demanding a reward.
"A prize?" You repeat back watching as she eagerly nodded her head. "Isn't finding out who your father is reward enough?"
She gaped at you, "That's not a pride. A prize has to be..." she took a few minutes before lighting up. "It has to be tasty. Something sweet."
"We will see." You ushered her out the door with a hand. "Only if you get the answer right. You only get one chance too so be confident about it."
"No problem." She possessed such confidence, it was amusing. "I'll get it right."
"I'll be waiting then."
With that, she turned and ran down the halls. She wasn't sure where to start but she knew that most of the fathers would be in the harem building. As she headed towards the harem building, she quickly ran through her options.
Not Kazuha. He's too confusing. He talks too much.
Diluc... it's best not to bother him. Mother says he works a lot and not to bother him unless absolutely necessary.
Ajax? Scaramouche? Heizou? She cringed. They tease too much and this is a very serious conversation - there's a prize at stake.
Itto... maybe but he tends to get overly excited easily. It would be hard to get an answer out of him.
The best bet would probably be to find Aether, Tighnari, or even Kaveh. They're the kindest and spend the most time around the harem's children.
The little girl nodded to herself. This makes perfect sense - she was definitely going to be able to identify her father and get a prize from her mother.
She skipped through the harem doors as the guards opened it for her. She looked around the common room and froze... the only people she saw were Venti, Itto, Al-Haitham, Heizou.... and Kaveh!
"Kaveh! Kaveh!" She yelled out as she ran to the older male. Before she made it to him, Itto had intercepted her and picked her up with a hearty laugh, throwing her in the air before catching her.
"What's got you so excited little one. You completely ignored the rest of us." Itto jostled her a little bit causing the young girl to let out a small squeal. She squirmed in his arms, grabbing at the horns on his head with rough hands and Itto didn't so much as flinch.
"I don't have time to play," she pouted, staring at Itto with big eyes. Itto felt his heart stutter in his chest at her cuteness - he always had such a soft spot for the children in the harem. "I'm trying to figure something out so mother will give me a prize."
"A prize? From the empress? That sounds interesting." Itto hummed in thought as he set her down and kneeled in front of her. "What are you trying to figure out? Maybe I can help." Itto leaned in as if the two of them were sharing a secret, his voice dropping into a whisper.
The child shook her head rapidly, "No. I have to figure it out - all by myself. And I will!" she clenched her fist and lifted a tiny palm in the air. "The prize will be all mine and only mine."
The others in the room laughed at the cuteness but they didn't interrupt. Though Kaveh did start to move closer to where they were.
Itto leaned forward, his voice still in a whisper. "Can I at least know what you're searching for?"
The child pursed her lips in thought. She supposes it couldn't hurt. "My father. I'm trying to figure out who my father is."
Itto let out a fake gasp, a hand coming to hold his chest. "oh, that hurts little one. Don't you know," Itto watched as her eyes got really wide, as if thinking that Itto knew the answer. "We're all your father. That's how it works."
She quickly pouted, her hands punching his chest playfully. "I know that," she grumbled under her breath, her hands balling on top of his chest. "I meant my birth father. I wanna know that."
Itto felt himself soften, his playfulness taking the back seat as he observed how determined the little nine year old was to figure this out. "Is that so. Why did you only call for Kaveh when you entered the room. Do you think he's your birth father?"
She quickly perked up, remembering about the others in the room and her head snapped until it landed on Kaveh. She quickly wriggled out of Itto's arm and ran up to Kaveh, her little arms wrapping around his legs. She ignored Itto's little sounds of indignation. Kaveh patted her head, smoothing down the tousled hair.
She peered up at Kaveh, "Kaveh! Kaveh! I need to ask you something. I need your help."

Hello. Its been a long time. I know ;( but I am trying to get to writing again.
This little drabble was meant to be small. That's the reason for the abrupt cut off but you can imagine her father being anyone.

Stage reveal
[Teapot]
Paimon:Three hundred wishes! An indomitable will! One golden hair boy’s determination and not to mention 75 pity! It all happens here!!!
Aether:Nice intro.
Paimon:Felt appropriate. Though it might be anticlimactic if Furina shows up in one go.
Aether:That’s the point! *throws ten wishes*
Golden Meteor!
Keqing:You really think it’s going to be her?
???:HAHAHAHAHA~
Nilou:Judging by that sound…yes.
Aether carefully runs with his arms out until the gold light finally fades and Furina lands squarely in his arms.
Furina:Splendid! Simply splendid! Bravo in participating for my wonderful entrance!
Aether:*mutters* You had no land strategy, did you?
The whimsical girl completely ignores the absolutely true accusations, favoring to stand on her own two feet and greet the gaggle of people who attended this glorious occasion.
Furina:Greetings! I’m-
Everyone:We know.
Ayato:He’s mentioned you.
Nahida:More than that. He’s asked us all to help build you for awhile now.
Aether:She didn’t need to know that.
Lynette:My brother is gathering your flowers as we speak, upon Aether’s request.
Aether:I thought I invited friends, not enemies here.
Furina:Well, well, *turns around* well! It would appear despite your blatant shenanigans towards me, you actually wanted me around? Isn’t that adorable?
Paimon:Big talk coming from someone dedicated to letting people wait. You fell faster than anyone Paimon has seen. Didn’t even entertain the idea of making him “work for it”
Furina:I- I just happened to weigh the options is all! It was impossible for me not to arrive, so why not start off with a bang and allow more time for the real drama to begin!
She dramatically points to the weapon banner vendor. Suddenly, nobody but Nilou and Furina were having a good time. The only thing guaranteed was pain but yet they held join in the idea of things working out. Aether decided not to waste time and started lighting the sky with colors from his wishes.
Yaoyao:…Huh? *holds constellation* That was unexpected.
Keqing:That tends to happen from time to time. Congratulations. That’s your second one.
Kaveh:*holds constellation* What the?
Nilou:(Wow. I really do win today.)
Mika:*holds constellation* Oh wow. I got one too!
Eula:Now get five more.
Aether:(Why is my luck for characters better on here than the standard?)
Golden Meteor!
Kokomi:Heads up. It could be anything.
Furina:Ha! Anything!? The answer is as clear as water. *holds hand out*
The light falls straight down into her hand brilliantly. As it fades, Furina’s own gaze lights up as she brandishes her blade.
Furina:See!? Clear as water! (Oh my gods, that could’ve been sooo embarrassing!)
Everyone:(She’s trembling…)
Aether wastes no time in dumping more wishes until another gold light. Unfortunately …

Aether:Not gonna lie, this hurts.
Nilou:I don’t even feel good about this outcome.
Ayato:So you’re giving me the sword?
Nilou:Mmm, no. I’ll just cherish it more.
After several painful wishful, the dancer gained her new blade.
Paimon:Okay then. Cheer up Aether! Now let’s use the remainder to get Charlotte! You still around 130.

Tighnari:Look at the bright side. *holds constellation*
Aether:…Look, I love ya man, but you should probably be helping Collei. She’s drowning in coins.
Collei: *buried* I kinda like pressure if I’m honest.
Furina:Let me try. Clearly your luck ran out.
Aether:And your any better?

Navia, in the distance: Hey! Have optimism! It’s fine!

A Play of Vigorous Wisdom (PART TWO)
Interdarshan Championship Event x Reader (Genshin 3.6) Scaramouche/Wanderer x Reader
Here is part two everyone! I am so sorry this took a while because I've been having writer's block and was having a hard time with my schedule and all. But, I now have the motivation to write and I hope that it will stay so I can write everything including the bonus before version 3.7 comes out.
Thank you for the support in part one!
PART ONE, PART TWO, PART THREE
BONUS: -Fighting For The Diadem (Cyno, Tighnari, Kaveh, Layla, Faruzan)
Enjoy!
Tumblr media
//////
After immediately encountering Layla, you got word from the Akademiya students talking about how intense was the first round, which you now assumed officially ended.
And some students were also predicting the second round already. The second round will come in two days, so every participant has free time.
You were walking around the streets of Sumeru, passing by the ongoing busy roads as the sunset was in place. Your lover said he had urgent business to do. It was weird, but you didn't question it since he's already strange enough. But now that he's gone, you were incredibly bored and basically had nothing to do until he was done.
You thought taking a walk around the city would help, and you could get invested in one of the shops or booths. But, it did not work. If people would've focused on you, they would think you have overworked yourself or something.
You did play a few booths of the Wisdom Gala, but most had completely drained your energy already as some you were struggling to do in their first rounds. It was only the first round of their booths before they released more minigames of their events.
What else can you do? You need entertainment right now. That's what was running through your mind before you stumbled upon Lambad's Tavern. You stood staring at it and decided that maybe a little food would boost you up.
You entered the place, and the relaxing yet delightful music played as soon as you entered. The tavern this time was much busier than before. You see that most of them are Akademiya students. You wondered if it had anything to do with the festival this year.
You stood as you were in line to order. You were staring at your fingernails, not paying attention to anything until you heard someone say your name.
"(Name)?" A voice called behind you. You turned around surprised at seeing someone familiar.
"Oh, hey Tighnari!" You smiled at him.
"I didn't expect to run into you here," He smiled back. "Even though we saw each other, we haven't had a chance to catch up. How are you?"
"Oh, I'm doing good!" You replied. "How about you? Oh, and how's Collei?"
"I'm fine, and she's doing wonderful ever since her recovery."
Tighnari was the Amurta representative in the championship earlier. But you knew him way before that.
You met Tighnari way back when you arrived for the first time in Sumeru. As the new region felt new to you, you spotted Gandharva Ville nearby, and Tighnari allowed you to stay for a while. You two hit off very well and became acquaintances to good friends quickly. When you felt like you overstayed your welcome, you bid goodbye to him and haven't seen him since.
"So, what are you doing here?" Tighnari asked you.
"Oh, I'm just here for a snack. I've been so bored and tired lately that I thought food might help me." You replied. "What about you?"
"Oh, I'm just waiting for a friend of mine. We just plan on eating here." He answered. But then he spoke again, "Would you like to join us?"
You were surprised. "Huh? But won't you friend mind?"
As if on cue, a white gray-haired male with red eyes came in and walked up to the forest ranger. "Tighnari, there you are. Sorry, I'm late. I just had to finish off some duties."
"It's fine. I just arrived too." He replied.
Cyno then noticed you with a curious look. "Hm? Who's this?"
You sheepishly waved at him as Tighnari introduced you. "Oh, this is (Name), a good friend I'm just catching up with."
Cyno eyed you and stated. "I know you. You're one of Vahumana's representatives earlier in the Championship."
"Heh, yeah, and your Spantamad's representative." You smiled. "Nice to meet you."
"You too." He lightly smiled back.
"Cyno, you wouldn't mind if (Name) sits with us, right?" Tighnari said. "It's just that we haven't seen each other in a while, and I figured this might be a good opportunity to catch up with them. If you're fine with it, of course."
Cyno answered. "No problem, I don't mind at all."
You were nervous sitting with Cyno. You've heard from your friends in Vahumana that the General Mahamatra was terrifying with his cold expression, especially if you defy or combat him. But, to you, he seems like a calm person who didn't mind anything regarding his friends. You did hear that one of your friends said that despite his look, he is a humorous guy around which confused you more.
The three of you sat at a table and ordered your guys' food.
"So, (Name), how has Sumeru been?" Tighnari asked.
"Oh, it's absolutely amazing!" You smiled. "Everything around is truly beautiful and different than any other nation I've been through. Tighnari, I am still thankful for you taking me in when I arrived."
He smiled. "Really, it's no problem at all."
Tighnari then spoke out a random question. "Hey, if you don't mind me asking this and forgive me if this is wrong, but... Is 'Hat Guy' your boyfriend you mentioned?"
You stared at him wide-eyed. "What the!? How- You haven't met him yet!"
"It wasn't that difficult to know," He smirked. "It was obvious how lovey-dovey you both were before in the championship."
You were about to retort something until a waiter came in and served the dishes you ordered.
"Say, (Name)," Cyno stared making you look up at him. "Tell me a bit about yourself."
You turned surprised but smiled and told a bit to Cyno, intending to know each other.
Tumblr media
...
For the next few hours: you, Tighnari, and Cyno chatted happily in the busy tavern. While catching up with the forest ranger, you immediately got along well with the mahamatra.
"So you don't play TCG?" Cyno asked with bewilderment.
You chuckled. "Well, I do; I got many card collections and decks. But I don't play so much anymore."
"Hmph, I see. Would you be interested in dueling against me?"
"Hmm, sure, I don't mind. But maybe another time."
"Hey," Tighnari chimed in. "Don't tell me you brought your card decks. Seriously, it's like you bring them everywhere with you."
"Well, it's necessary if I find a worthy opponent," Cyno smirked as the male beside him sighed. You sweat-dropped.
"I... I'm not surprised anymore, especially when you were at the cat's tail all day back in Mondstadt's festival and signed up for the championship just for the TCG card." Tighnari shot him a pointed look.
"Now, don't look at me with that card-oed look on your face."
"That joke didn't even make sense."
"Do you want an expla-"
"No."
You chuckled at their bickering but thanked Tighnari for sparing you from Cyno's jokes. You felt an overwhelming feeling of awkwardness when he told off his bad jokes earlier at the table.
You look at the watch in your hand out of habit, then notice how late you stayed in the tavern. Even though the tavern was fully crowded. But you knew you had to get home soon or you'll be suffering from your lover's questioning.
It wasn't anything bad; it's just him being concerned and scolding you. But you don't know if you have the energy to bicker him with today.
"Hey guys," You said. "I'm sorry, but I have to go now."
Tighnari put his attention on you. 'Oh, no worries. It is late after all. I'm glad we got to catch up, (Name)."
"Me too," You thanked, then said to Cyno. "I enjoy talking with you too, Cyno."
"It's no problem," Cyno reassured. "It was nice meeting you too."
You stood up. "Well then, I guess I'll see you soon in the second round of the championship then."
"Indeed, we will see you later." Cyno smiled. You smiled back.
You waved two of your friends goodbye as you walked out of a tavern, being greeted by the cold breeze wind the moment your foot was outside.
After that, you immediately speed-walked on the route back to your home, hugging yourself as it was cold at night. You hoped Wanderer wasn't there yet. But while walking home, you simply imagined you and your boyfriend bickering already.
...
You peeked your head to the main room of your house, seeing that no inch of blue or black and white clothing of Wanderer here. You turned, seeing nothing; everything was just where they were when you left earlier. The house was completely empty. Which means he wasn't here yet.
You silently cheered and thanked the Archons that Wanderer wasn't home. You fully entered the room, closing the front door behind you.
You immediately jumped into the couch and slumped on it, catching a bit of your breath.
'Oh god, it was so cold.' You silently yelled as you still felt the chilly wind from outside. You didn't focus on anything until you hear a voice you wished you didn't want to hear right now.
"Well, well, well, you took your time coming home."
You froze at the voice. You were screaming inside about how the hell did he get home first.
You slowly turn and see at the corner of your eyes his figure leaning against a wall, with his arms crossed and a malicious smirk on his face.
"Uhh, hi?" You muttered with a sweaty uneasy smile. "How... are you?"
You were doomed.
He didn't say anything. He just hummed in response. The silence between you two wasn't making it any helpful.
He walked towards you while his expression remained the same. You put your head down and sighed tiredly but prepared for what he had to say.
But you didn't expect him to sit down next to you, pull you into his arms, and he leaned you onto his chest. His body was on the couch, hugging you from behind as you were seated between his legs, holding his arms with his hands, still surprised.
You weren't expecting it, but you enjoyed it anyway. You closed your eyes as you both enjoyed a peaceful moment of warmth together. After a few moments, you opened your eyes, making eye contact with the man behind you.
"What's this for?" You softly murmured.
He stared, then replied. "I'm tired too. I just want you right now. I won't bother with the lecture today; you already know what I'll be saying anyway."
You softened at his tone and warmth. You learned more as you closed your eyes, smiling. He glanced down at you and smiled as he embraced you tighter. He places a soft kiss on your head.

[TWO DAYS LATER]
It was now the second round of the Interdarshan Championship. The venue for the second round is in the desert's Aaru Village. All of the contestants had already gathered and chatted as we waited for the next game to start soon.
You stood leaning up against the venue's pillar, closing your eyes as you rested a bit before the round.
You were interrupted when you heard footsteps coming to you. You opened one of your eyes to see Wanderer coming to you.
You raised an eyebrow, but then he leaned and whispered in your ear. "Let's start investigating later, okay?"
You nodded your head as he leaned back out. You glance to the contestants and already see that the Traveler is here.
"Looks like everyone's here." Alhaitham stood up, gaining everyone's attention. "I will now explain the second round to you all."
"There are three Ley Line Disruptors buried in the area around Aaru Village. These devices can imitate the effects of Ley Line disruption and will constantly interfere with the environment. Your goal is to shut them down."
"The first three who manage the finish this task will be awarded four, three, two points, accordingly. Note that each person may only bring a set amount of food and water with them, and that leaving the designated competition zone will result in disqualification."
Everyone immediately started talking to each other and went ahead to go enter the zone.
...
"Ugh, it's so hot." You groaned as you and Wanderer walked around.
"This is even more annoying than the last round." He grumbled. "Whatever, let's just rest for a while and watch everyone scurry."
You both sat down on the sand. You turned to him. "How are you not hot!? You are literally wearing a jacket."
"Did you forget or are you dumb? I'm a puppet. Besides, why are you even whining? I am none of your concern right now." He rolled his eyes.
...
"AH!" You screamed.
Wanderer looked at you with a confused expression. "What?"
"Oh gosh," You said, holding your chest. "That tumbleweed scared me."
"How do you get scared by a tumbleweed?"
"When they go near and hit you, duh."
...
After examining every other participant, you and Wanderer went next to Tighnari to obverse him like the others. You finally find him, but the Traveler and Paimon are also there.
You guys listened in and learned that Tighnari fainted due to the heat. But it seemed that he had finished all of his water.
You focus on them only until you see your boyfriend going up to them and revealing himself.
'What the heck is he doing?' Either way, you decided to follow him
"Humans, such fragile beings," Wanderer chimed as everyone turned to him and see you next to him. "Your bodies can't even survive extreme changes in the environment."
The Traveler raised an eyebrow. "And you considered yourself strong?"
Wanderer ignored them but pulled out one of our waters. "Here, take this. Let him drink it."
Both of the traveling companions raised an eyebrow, but the Traveler took the water from him regardless.
Wanderer walks away, but you stay still. He turns to you. "Let's go."
"Actually," You said. "Is it alright if I stay with them for a while?"
He gave you a confused look. So you said. "It'll only be a minute. I'll just make sure that Tighnari is in good condition."
He hummed and eyed you and him. "Hmm, alright. Don't take too long. Do you know where to find me?"
You nodded.
"Good." Before he went on, you came up behind him and gave him a quick hug and a kiss on his cheek.
He was surprised but grinned. "See you."
"Bye!" You waved as Wanderer left.
You turned to the group to see Tighnari drinking the water already.
After he had finished, you approached the forest ranger. "Are you alright now?"
"I'm feeling a little better now. Thanks." Tighnari said.
You were about to say something else until another voice came in.
"Found you at last." Cyno walked in.
"Cyno! You're here too!" Paimon exclaimed.
"I was concerned, so I came back to check on you." He stated. "Will you be able to go on?
"The fur on my tail is so dry it's practically been singed right off. I don't see any purpose in pushing myself beyond what is reasonable." Tighnari shook his head. "It appears I'm not suited to this particular round - I should probably just return to Aaru Village and rest."
"Really? So you're backing out?" Paimon asked.
He nodded. "Yes. I do have my results in the first round to serve as a buffer, so even if I forfeit this round, I still have a chance to turn things around later. Withdrawing now will allow me to conserve my energy. Continuing to push onward would be counterproductive."
"That's good, Tighnari," You smiled. "I'm glad that you're not pushing yourself or anything like that."
"A wise decision," Cyno agreed. "Let's get you back to Aaru Village."
"Ugh... It's fine, I can make it back on my own." Tighnari groaned.
Paimon exclaimed. "Oh, stop trying to be so polite. Come on, we'll help you back to Aaru Village!"
...
Tumblr media
...
Everyone entered a cave that was a quick way to enter Aaru Village.
"How are you feeling now, Tighnari?" Paimon asked. "Do you want to rest some more?"
"There's some shade here, so we can stop for a while," Cyno suggested. Tighnari agreed to it.
Everyone kept walking in the area further until they saw a familiar Rtawahist figure.
"Oh, Cyno, Tighnari, and (Name)... and you've got the Traveler and Paimon with you!"
"Hello, Layla," You greeted her with a warm smile.
"The sun was too strong, so I decided to take cover here for a while," Layla muttered. "What about you? Are you all done already?"
Tighnari shook his head in response. "Unfortunately not. I'm not quite as capable as I thought… I intend to withdraw from this round. Cyno, (Name), and the Traveler are escorting me back to Aaru Village."
"W-Withdraw? Can you even do that?" Layla asked surprised.
"Yes, you can if you want to." You answered. "Alhaitham says leaving and returning to Aaru Village is a disqualification of the second round."
"Didn't I ask if you were already before this? If you had just decided to withdraw then, you wouldn't have had to suffer." Cyno said to Tighnari.
He replied. "Well, I had to try, didn't I? So I tried, and it didn't work out - and now I'm backing out while I can."
As they were conversing with each other, you noticed Layla looking a bit troubled.
"Layla, is something wrong?" You asked.
"Oh, uh-" Layla stuttered. "No, it's just I feel a little faint when I entered the desert. But I feel a lot better after resting here for a while."
"Be careful not to push yourself too hard!" Paimon reminded.
"Don't worry, I'm just..." Layla paused.
Cyno finished her sentence. "Feeling the pressure?"
"Huh? You can tell?"
"Your expression is similar to the ones I see on criminals' faces when I interrogate them."
Layla sighed. "To tell you the truth, I'm not sure whether I have what it takes to represent the Rtawahist Darshan in the Championship."
She tells how people voted for her as the representative because of the rumors about me, and Layla then tells she doesn't know how to deal with their expectations. Many and even people who criticize her voted for her, so she felt like she had to live up to their expectations.
"So, their expectations are putting pressure on you?" Tighnari clarified.
She nodded in silence.
"Hmm, I see," You started as she turned to you. "I understand your situation, it's understandable to feel this way, Layla."
"But, I'm going to say this. Having a lot of pressure on yourself isn't good because then you won't be able to achieve anything. People obviously have their reasons to vote for you, but I think the people from your Darshan who do care about you wouldn't want you to be put under pressure. It's important to not push yourself."
Layla stared at you in surprise.
Tighnari spoke up. "I agree. We are researchers. Our primary duty is to interact with knowledge, not to meet others' expectations."
"Even though I got voted as well, I decided to take part in this competition to advertise for an academic lecture at Gandharva Ville next month. I'll obviously try my best during the competition, but I won't let any additional pressure get to me."
"I think you can also try to find a clearly defined goal. That may help you." He finished.
Layla nodded. "I understand. Thanks for your pieces of advice."
"Phew... I'm absolutely parched after talking so much." Tighnari sweatdropped.
" I've still got some water with me." Cyno offered.
His friend shook his head. "No, I'll be alright. We aren't far from Aaru Village, so I can go the rest of the way myself. You should get back to the competition. Don't you want to win that limited-edition card?"
"Yes. Alright then, your spirit will live on through me."
"...Hey, don't talk like that. I'm not dead, Cyno." Tighnari shot him an annoyed look.
"Everyone, I'll be heading back now. See you after the round ends." He said before walking away to Aaru Village.
Cyno walked in the opposite direction. "I'll continue searching for the Ley Line Disruptors."
"Hmm, well, it seems I should head back." You said. "I'll see you guys later."
"Hey, (Name)," Layla said. You turned to her. "Thank you. For what happened in the first round, and thank you for your advice."
You chuckled. "It's no problem. I hope you'll feel better, Layla."
You waved the three goodbyes as you made your way back to the competition grounds.
...
Tumblr media
...
After a while, you found Wanderer at the west entrance of Aaru Village. He was looking at the scenery, seeming to be deep in thought.
"Hey," You said skipping over to him, while he turns to look at you.
"Oh, good. You're here." Wanderer crossed his arms. "Listen, since we don't have any leads, I figured we can ask people about that incident. I think we should start in Aaru Village."
"Hmm, do you think they would know something about it?" You asked.
"Well, it's not guaranteed they would know exactly, but we can try asking and we could learn a bit about what happened-" Wanderer stopped his sentence as he sees something behind you.
You turned to see the Traveler and Paimon coming towards you. Wow, it's like they're everywhere and have incredible free time to check up on every contestance one by one.
Paimon exclaimed. "Looks like someone's taking it easy!"
"You should be thrilled that we have nothing to do. Otherwise, that means someone's in for a very, very bad day." He smirked.
"But if you guys don't get any points this round, you won't have a shot at winning!"
You shrugged. "Well, we really don't have intentions to win."
Wanderer added. "Really, the real prize for me is watching all these people fight over something so useless. Oh, you've reminded us of something. There shouldn't be any more incidents after this round. If you'll excuse us, we have somewhere to be."
You and Wanderer walked away, leaving the Traveler and Paimon dumbfounded.
...
You guys entered Aaru Village by passing the sub-venue. Alhaitham and Nilou seemed to notice you two entering and took note that both of you had forfeited like Tighnari.
You and Wanderer entered the area of the village that is near the Village Chief's house. The two of you split up around Aaru Village to ask as many people as possible.
You briefly asked the villagers nearby but found nobody seemed to know anything. But someone did tell you that a guy named 'Huvishka' knows something about a past championship twenty years ago.
You finally found the said person. You asked what he thought of this year's Interdarshan Championship.
Huvishka tells you that he was rooting for Cyno because of his skills as the General Mahamatra and that the Spantamad Darshan has the highest percentage of champions. But during his sentence, he mentioned that the most exciting competition was still 'twenty years ago.'
You asked about that championship twenty years ago.
"At that time, my friend also participated in the game, and I went there to cheer for him. The last round was played in Avidya Forest. In the end, no one dared to approach them, and no one knew what was going on in the depths of the forest…" He tells you.
"Then I heard the Akademiya shut down the competition. Later, the Interdarshan Championship removed many of the events in which people fought to the death, discouraging people from being desperate enough to do so."
"So, what was your friend like?" You asked.
"Let me think. He's honest and kind, but he's also vulnerable and sensitive. Most of all, he cares about us. When we drink together, our time is filled with laughter and cheer." He answered. "It's just too bad that it's all in the past now. Among the friends we drank with, some died, some disappeared, some now live in seclusion… They say fate is fickle. Perhaps it's true."
You hummed, gathering and taking note of the information you had just received.
...
"Deserts are much more dangerous at night, so this competition should be nearing its end. At the moment, only Faruzan, Layla, and Kaveh remain," said Alhaitham.
Nilou muttered. "I wonder who the next person to find a disruptor will be..."
"Wait, only three people are left? Tighnari forfeited, and Cyno's already done… What about (Name) and Hat Guy?" Paimon questioned.
"They also forfeited not long ago," Alhaitham answered.
Paimon groaned. "Paimon can't understand what they're thinking at all... But like Alhaitham said — the round's almost over. Let's go see what the other contestants are doing!"
...
You and Wanderer met back near the Village Chief's house and told each other about what you learned from the villagers. Wanderer says he hasn't had that much information as he states that nobody seemed to know anything related to the incident.
You tell him about your conversation with Huvishka.
"Hmph, I see. Twenty years ago..." Wanderer muttered.
"We didn't get that much information than we hoped, but at least we have some sort of lead." You said. "Now what should we do?"
"Ugh, this desert isn't too much to my liking. Let's just leave." He suggested.
"Huh? Can we leave?"
"Well, we gave up this round, remember? Why couldn't we leave if we have nothing to do now?" He stated. "Besides, didn't you say that Amurta's representative drop out this round? Well, he's not here anymore, so he probably left too."
"Hm, I guess." You muttered.
...
Tumblr media
...
It was now nighttime, and you heard briefly that the championship had officially ended the second round, and the final round would commence in two days.
You hear that Cyno and Layla have taken first place while the rest in descending are Tighnari, Faruzan, Kaveh, and you and your boyfriend.
You know well that neither of you can't be winners. But whoever the winner will be decided in the third and final round.
And during this time, you and Wanderer found out a bit about the incident twenty years ago, so you both consider it a benefit from the competition.
After you guys left, you both went to your shared home back in Sumeru City. Since the desert was very far away from there, you guys arrived when nighttime came in. But you both didn't care.
...
Wanderer's lips were on yours as his tongue danced with yours. You forgot what happened, but after arriving in your shared house, you and Wanderer are locked in a make-out.
He pinned you up with his hand pressed against the wall, and his other hand was behind, holding your neck. You had one of your hands on the side of his cheek while your other hand was caressing the back of his head.
Every time you pull away for only a second, you and he pull each other back in a heated kiss. His lips were all over your face, but he was mainly on your lips.
After a while, you felt tired so you pulled him back by grabbing his shoulders. He focused his attention on you.
"Okay, that's enough," You smiled.
He raised an eyebrow. "I'm not done yet."
You playfully rolled your eyes, as you walked away from him to the kitchen, ignoring his calls to you.

Chapter Four: Hi, Neighbour
Alhaitham has the looks and the smarts. He will also be the stand-in CEO for his grandfather's company for a year.
But, he's been mysteriously cursed to turn into a cat every night since his eighteenth birthday… until he meets you, an employee at his grandfather's company, who rescues him as a cat and changes him back with one kiss.

Chapter index at the end of chapter one
You're usually the one responsible for your sleepless nights. Like that time when you were nervous about giving your first solo presentation in school. Or, the time you stayed up way too late for your first project early in your career, wanting to perform well as one of the team's youngest members. You rarely lose sleep because of other people. Well, it seems like Alhaitham just loves to surprise you.
It's already midnight, and you can't stop thinking about what happened today.
“Wait… You two know each other?” Kaveh gasped when you and Alhaitham exchanged a look. “Don’t tell me you’re the soulmate!”
“...The what?”
“Don’t bring up that nonsense,” Alhaitham warned.
Kaveh coughed. “Well, soulmate or not, it’s not every day you get to live across from a CEO.”
Alhaitham shot his friend a deadpan look, and Kaveh innocently looked in the other direction.
“You’re… a CEO?”
Alhaitham assumed you haven’t looked at that official welcome email. Otherwise, you would know. While he knew which department you were in, he didn’t go to see you. Though, sometimes, he’d thought of you barging into his office and demanding an explanation of why he was here. It was a ridiculous scenario, but it kept him entertained. Little did he know, it was those moments where he’d subconsciously smile.
He kept to himself that he knew you and left it up to fate to decide whether he’d accidentally bump into you in the hall or somewhere nearby. Turned out fate had other plans.
Alhaitham didn’t get a chance to respond when Kaveh said, “Uh huh! At Sumeru Entertainment! He’s still a newbie, though.”
“Um, are you okay?” It was the voice of your real estate agent that snapped you out of it. “You just turned pale.”
“At… at where did you say?” you asked.
“Sumeru Entertainment.”
Alhaitham’s voice wasn’t helping.
“I… I work there," you finally said.
“You do?” Kaveh gasped. “Oh, my God! That’s… what a small world!”
“I know.”
Silence.
Alhaitham… knew? Since when? How did he know? Could it be from your conversation with Lumine? But, you never said where—
“I saw you,” Alhaitham continued. “...At the marketing department.”
The marketing…? Oh. It must be from that time.
“Ooh, did something happen?” Kaveh asked.
“I, uh, it’s getting late,” you finally said. “I need to go.”
You scream into your pillow. But then, you look up.
No. Who cares if he’s your CEO? It’s not like you have any direct connection. But the thought of living across from him is…
Your head hits the pillow again. Wait a minute. You look up. Why should Alhaitham influence your decision on whether to buy the place or not? You love the apartment. It's closer to your work. The neighbourhood is nicer. Transportation is also much more convenient. There are too many pros. And the thought of giving that up just because Alhaitham will be your neighbour makes you scoff.
You sit upright.
You made your decision. You’re going to make an offer. You’re going to move in… and it’s not because you also partly want to prove a point.
◆◆◆
“Ooh, I got it! What if the guy is actually an alien?”
Later that week, you’re brainstorming with your team on project ideas, writing them all down on the large smart table in the meeting room. But, this idea… it’s interesting and has potential.
"Okay," you say, looking at the many ideas scribbled on the notepad. "We have enough ideas to work with. Let's start narrowing them down."
“How are we going to do that?”
A knock comes at the door. As soon as it opens, you see your manager… and Alhaitham.
"Oh, please don't mind us," your manager says. "I bumped into Alhaitham earlier, and he was interested in learning about the creative process behind our films and dramas." Your manager smiles. "I knew you were having a creative meeting with your team today, so I thought we could listen in."
It's the first time you've seen Alhaitham since that day. Now that you know he's the new CEO, you've been mentally preparing yourself to bump into him in the hallway or at a restaurant nearby. There's no way he's going to catch you off guard. You almost scoff. Again, this man just loves to surprise you.
Still, you need to become accustomed to this; soon, he will be your neighbour. That's right. You closed the deal on the apartment just yesterday.
"I hope we're not interrupting," Alhaitham says. You watch him walk to the opposite side of the table; your team members instantly make room for him. "All of these look like great ideas." His eyes look from the screen to you. "How do you narrow them down?"
You don't want to overthink and say that he's testing you. Regardless, you welcome the challenge. "I like to start with the ending." You put your hands on the table. "Knowing how the story ends will help write scenes to achieve that ending." You smile slightly. "It'll also help with sequencing."
As he listens to you talk, Alhaitham sees the same sparkle in your eyes he saw that day at your house when you looked at him as a cat. It's easy to tell that you love what you do; the passion in your talk says it all. People also glow differently when talking about something they love. Alhaitham has seen it. But, there's something about you that draws him in. He can't take his eyes off you, but what scares him is that he almost doesn't want to.
Looking up, you see Alhaitham staring at you, and your mind almost goes blank. Perhaps it's the way he's looking at you. Attentive. Focused. But there's also something else. Curiosity. Maybe he's taken more of an interest in what you're saying. Regardless, you're suddenly losing the words on your tongue.
“Um, yeah, so… that’s it,” you finish. You almost want to bang your head against the wall for that eloquent ending.
"It was easy to follow your train of thought," Alhaitham says. "It was logical, and I understood why you would do things a certain way." Then, he smiles slightly, and your heart almost skips a beat. "I learned a lot."
You sigh softly once he and your manager leave.
“Were you nervous?” You look at your colleague, who’s smiling. “It’s rare to see you get nervous, boss.”
You hope it doesn’t happen again… around Alhaitham, that is.
You leave a little early to meet your mother at your new place on the same day. It's still empty as you've scheduled your move to be on the weekend to avoid clashing with work. When you told your family you sealed the deal, they were all thrilled. Though, your mother just had to add that it would be even better if you were moving in with a guy. But, you let it slide.
“Hey, mom.”
“This place is beautiful,” she says, walking inside the lobby with you. “It must’ve cost you a pretty penny.”
"Well, I think I got a good deal after I negotiated."
In the elevator, your mother spends a little time catching you up on what's been happening at her café. Opening a café has always been a dream of hers. So, when she retired as an accountant, she took the plunge and opened one in the city's business district.
“You look exhausted,” you say worriedly. “Why don’t you rest for a little bit? I’m sure the part-timers can handle themselves for a day or two.”
"I know they can. They're good kids. One of them is going to graduate from university this year." She looks at you. "It's hard, though. I'm sure you know."
You know. It’s difficult for you to take a day off when it’s not an official holiday. Work is constantly on your mind. But you’re still young. Your mother, on the other hand…
You unlock and open the door to your new place, allowing your mother to step in first. She takes a look around just as you close the door behind you.
“It’s nice, right?” you ask.
You and your mother chat about the place for a while, and then she changes the topic to the one you’re dreading.
“Lumine told me she gave you the pamphlet.”
“...She did. I’m not going.”
“Why not?”
“Mom,” you groan. “Do you even have to ask? I think it’s obvious.”
“The men this time—”
“It’s not about the men!" You sigh. "I’m honestly really happy right now. I’d rather be happy myself than be in an unhappy relationship.”
Your mom gives you a look. “Who said I want you to be in an unhappy relationship? I know you’re happy, dear. But I want you to be happier. Some memories… some feelings can only happen when you have someone around you.”
“I’d rather have it happen naturally,” you mutter.
“But you have to try!”
That's the thing. You don't want to. It's not like you never had suitors after your horrendous breakup. But you turned every single of them down… for years. Your mom never understood why, and you always used the same excuse. You didn't like them. You just weren't interested. When one guy went as far as to treat you like a literal queen, some of your friends called you "incredible" for turning down such a great guy. But you couldn't date him. Not when the demons of your first relationship still haunted you like no tomorrow.
“Mom, please… can we talk—”
"I don't want you with just anyone, so I specifically signed you up for this event. They're worthy of being with a strong woman like you."
You wish you could just disappear.
Your mother opens the door and walks out. “Go to that event.”
“No. I don’t—”
The elevator doors open, and Alhaitham walks out. You instantly stiffen as he makes eye contact with you… and then your mother. When Alhaitham gives you a small smile, your mother slowly turns to you with a raised brow.
“Hey, neighbour," he says.
Is that your new nickname now?
“...Hi, neighbour.”
It’s… strange calling your CEO that, but maybe it's better than Catboy.
Alhaitham smiles at your mother. “Hello. It’s nice to meet you.”
“My… it’s nice to meet you!” Your mother instantly turns to you. “Are you two friends?”
“Yes.”
“No.”
You and Alhaitham look at each other. What is he talking about? You aren’t friends!
“He’s my neighbour,” you say. "If that wasn't obvious already."
Your mother turns to Alhaitham. “How did you two meet? Here?”
How will Alhaitham respond? You’re a little curious.
“She helped me when I got hurt.”
Your eyes almost turn wide. He isn't going to tell her about the cat incident, is he?
“She was very kind to let me stay with her,” Alhaitham continues, and your jaw almost drops.
Your mother instantly turns to you. “He stayed with you?”
“It’snotlikethat,” you say, your words coming out so fast that even you had trouble understanding what you just said.
“But we got into a little fight, and she kicked me out.”
Your mother looks back at him, and you give him a pointed look. He’s asking for it.
“A fight, you say?” she asks.
"It was me in the wrong." This takes you by surprise. "I shouldn't have overstayed my welcome." Then, Alhaitham looks you in the eyes. "But, I'll always be grateful for her kindness during my time of need."
He's making you feel too many emotions at once, and it must stop.
“Mom,” you say, “I’ll walk you down.”
“Oh, but I haven’t gotten his name yet!”
"Alhaitham." You shoot him a deadpan look, which he returns with a ghost of a smile. Then, he says to your mother, "It's a pleasure to meet you, auntie."
You don’t think it can get any worse, but your mother also loves to surprise you.
“Are you single?”
“Mom!”
“...I am.”
Well, you have one of your secret questions answered, at least.
“Oh, my daughter is, too! I keep telling her to go to a matchmaking party, but she’s as stubborn as always.”
“Mom,” you say loudly. “I really think you should get going. It’s late.”
Your mother sighs. “Fine, fine.”
You meet Alhaitham’s eyes just as he says, “Goodnight, neighbour.”
“...Goodnight.”
This is definitely not how you’re expecting your evening to go.
◆◆◆
Over the next few days, your mother’s been asking you more about Alhaitham. So much that even your siblings now knew about him.
"So, you got a sparkly new place and a hot neighbour?" Lumine had asked. "I wish I had your luck, sis."
“What does he look like?” Aether had asked. “I’m so curious.”
That was only one out of the many questions.
What does he do? What's his family background? Morals? Values? You couldn't answer them as you barely knew him. You thought about letting your family know that he's your CEO, but you weren't sure what path that would lead. So maybe it was best to pretend you didn't know anything for now.
You've just finished lunch, and you're talking with your mother in an empty meeting room when she brings up Alhaitham… again.
“Mom, it’s not good to keep talking about other people, you know.”
“But I’ve been thinking… someone that handsome is bad news,” she says. You almost choke on your water. You’re still coughing when you hear your mother say, “But… I didn’t get a bad vibe from him.”
“What kind of vibe did you get from him then?” you deadpan. Then, before you can stop yourself, you ask, “Catty?”
“No, far from it! He was very polite.”
Not the definition of catty you’re going for, but… it’ll do.
“Is… he the reason why you’re not going?”
“To what? That matchmaking party?” You roll your eyes. “It’s not the first time I told you no, mom. It’s not because of him. I just don’t want to go.”
"Well, you have such a great catch living across the hallway from you."
“A great catch?” you ask incredulously. “You barely know him! What if he’s a crazy psychopath?” You really hope that’s not true.
“I trust my gut instinct. He really doesn’t seem like a bad guy.”
“Yeah, well, let me dash your hopes right now. Actually, he’s—”
Knock. Knock.
The door opens, and you see one of your colleagues.
“Hey. We have this room booked.”
“Oh, sorry,” you say, standing. Then, as you walk out, you say into your phone. “I have to get back to work. Let’s talk later.”
◆◆◆
Hours later, Alhaitham gets off another call and rubs his tired eyes. Is this the life of an executive? Just meeting after meeting after meeting? Then, just as he's about to return to work, he hears a knock at the door.
“Come in.”
The door opens, and his secretary walks in, holding a black and white suit wrapped nicely in plastic.
Alhaitham is about to ask when his secretary says, “Your grandfather asked me to pick this up for you for the awards night next week.”
“Appreciate it.” Alhaitham gestures to the couch. “You can put it there for now.”
"He… also asked me if you're bringing someone," he says, putting the suit neatly on the couch.
“...To the awards night?”
“Yes.”
“I don’t see why I would."
“In that case, he’d like you to take Layla with you.”
There's a name he hasn't heard in a long time. The daughter of one of the wealthiest family-owned companies in Sumeru… and an old family friend. While he and Layla have been friends for a long time, they lost contact when she moved away for university. Is she back?
“She’s coming back to open a subsidiary company under their name,” his secretary continues. “Your grandfather would like the two of you to get back in touch again.”
There’s obviously a motive, and Alhaitham isn’t going to fall for it.
"I'm sure she'll be busy readjusting. The last thing she needs is to attend an award show that has nothing to do with her."
“...I’ll relay the message.”
"You can also tell him to talk to me directly. No need for you to get involved with this." Alhaitham looks at the clock. "...It's late. Let's head back."
In the elevator, Alhaitham isn't expecting it to stop on your floor. When the doors open and you see each other, he holds your stare until you walk inside.
“Oh, hi, Alhaitham.” Alhaitham turns to Childe, who walks in after you with a smile.
Alhaitham stands behind you as he watches you and Childe make some casual conversation.
“I still haven’t thought about what to get Zhongli for his wedding,” Childe sighs. “Any ideas?”
“Aren’t you two supposed to be close?” you ask.
“What did you get him?”
Oh? Are you going to Zhongli’s wedding, too?
“It’s a surprise.”
“Oh, come on,” Childe groans. “Don’t be like that.”
“Yeah, well, deal with it.”
Childe gently nudges you. “I can keep a secret.”
“No.”
“Please?”
“Let it go, Childe.”
“Never.”
Alhaitham clears his throat. You slowly look over your shoulder and see him staring at Childe. “She already said no.”
“Ah… yeah.”
It's the first time you've seen Childe speechless, and you look back, hiding a small smile.
The doors open, and you step out. As you and Childe walk together, you expect to see Alhaitham walk in another direction or past you, but you never do. Does this mean he's still behind you? You want to look, but you have no idea how to make it look not obvious. Maybe just a—
You gasp when you bump into a large man holding a hot drink that splashes on your clothes. You're still recovering from what happened when the man glares at you.
“Sorry,” you begin, “I—”
“Watch where you’re going!”
“Why are you yelling?” Childe asks.
“Who the fuck are you?”
“Me? I’m—”
“Watch your language.” Everyone turns to Alhaitham, who’s walking toward you.
It looks like the man recognizes him as he stiffens.
Alhaitham takes out a napkin from his suit and gives it to you. “...Are you okay?”
You take it. “...I’m fine."
“With all due respect, this woman is the one who bumped into me,” the man huffs.
As you dab the stain on your clothes, Alhaitham removes his jacket and drapes it around you. You stop and look up, catching a glimpse of his worried stare before he glares at the man. Everyone in the lobby is looking at you now, and you just want to disappear into a black hole.
“She already apologized,” Alhaitham says. “There’s no need to yell.”
The man grumbles something and walks away.
“...Thanks for that,” you say. “I’ll clean this and give it ba—”
“We need to get you out of those clothes.”
Alhaitham's voice is so quiet and low that you think you imagined it. But then, you see the warmth in his eyes, and you almost melt.
“We wouldn’t want you getting sick,” he continues.
…Right. Of course. Where is your mind wandering to?

Title: It Scratches At The Inside.
CW: Small talk about undermining an authoritative government. One super tiny mention of stimming. WC: 3.9K
This occurs before One Step back Two To Steps to The Right and some time after Second Male Lead, Enter! Bard!reader Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The guard had a stoic face but was obviously trying not to smile while you were there. You caught him failing a few times though, and you catch the mirth in his eyes when he opens up your jail cell and nods his head out.
"Your bail has been paid for. You're good to go bard."
"Alas my new friends! Parting is such sweet sorrow, but I must take my merry elsewhere." The rest of the people in your little cell groan, but also cheer you off, and you grin as you step out, give them a little bow.
You're allowed to collect your bag and your coat, and your lyre, and smile at the people there. No hard feelings, after all, you saw them smiling too when you were singing. You're no Barbatos but your voice is lovely.
"You're here much too often, you hear me?" The guard says, shuffling through his ring of keys.
"There's too many rules here to break sir. I'm honestly still trying to remember half of them." You chuckle as he gives you an eye.
"Well, that's the Monstadt in ya. Rulebreaker ya are. But I don't wanna see you back here for another three weeks at least, you hear me?" The door opens and you fly through before it's even halfway open. Kaveh is waiting for you.
"I'd be lucky to make it to two sir, but I'll try!" You think you hear him laugh before you turn the corner to the front desk, and Kaveh is not, in fact, actually waiting for you.
It's another man, dove gray hair with some teal undertones, tri-colored eyes and a bored, expectant look on his face when he turns to you. He looks haughty. And rich.
"Ah, there you are. Kaveh's little muse." With that, you know exactly who he is.
"Oh, you're his roommate, I presume?" You sweep into an elegant bow, and bow your head.
"And the one who bailed me out. Thank you very much. Though I assume you're here for a reason. Kaveh usually comes for me in these situations."
"Yes, nuisance that you are, but he was busy. Instead of having him panic over completing his work or getting to you, I decided to get you myself. Come now," he turns away, and starts walking out the building.
"There's better places we could be talking." Well, you're curious, and you currently have nowhere important to be. So, you follow him.
He walks briskly, and his super long legs pull him up ahead while you have to jog to keep up.
He just keeps walking, on and on. He doesn't make any conversation, and you're wondering whether this is really worth it, (why do you keep letting yourself be pulled off to suspicious places by handsome men) when he stops abruptly.
An alleyway, of course. Darkened and dampened with silence. You guess this will do.
Your hands fall to your knees, and you catch your breath. You're creaky from sitting in a cell for a couple days.
"Phew. Okay, what do you want from me?"
"Who says I want anything from you?"
"Please don't act like I'm dumb," you sigh, drawing yourself fully erect.
"There's a reason you bailed me out and brought me here, and you don't look the type to just do favors for people." A snap of your fingers.
"So, I'd prefer it if you'd just spit it out."
"Hm. You're right. I do want something from you. But I'm curious."
"About?"
"You." You roll your eyes the second that leaves his mouth.
"Why, is it because of all the drama with the Sages and the General? It's really not that interesting."
"Half of Sumeru can contest to that."
"It's really not anything special. Just annoying really."
"As the Grand Scribe I don't have to attend every meeting," He derails the conversation, your cheek would sting from the whiplash.
"And my input is not received very well. I am meant to record, analyze and store information for the convenience of others."
"Okay…. Sounds tedious."
"It is. But it has its uses too." He leans closer.
"Because I'm allowed to sort the information, I'm also able to conduct my own personal research. But there are some things I can't find in the Akademia.
"That's where you will come in."
"Me? How?" And why? Does he automatically assume that you're just going to do his bidding? The arrogance.
"You're banned from multiple establishments and restaurants. Bars and taverns and a few official buildings. So when you work it's usually odd jobs like delivering goods or watching cargo, helping the sailors at Port Ormos. And it's usually later at night when the general public has gone to bed."
"...Have you been stalking me or something?" Now it's his turn to roll his eyes.
"Kaveh will talk the ear off of anything if he has something he's passionate about. He seems particularly interested in you and your…uniqueness."
"I am pretty amazing," you acquiesce, nodding along. "And Kaveh has lots of ideas he likes to bounce off of me. He wants to incorporate Monstadt architecture into some of his next projects soon."
"We'll see how well recieved that is." Before you could call him out on his mutterings a sharp sigh leaves his nose.
"You're deliberately getting us off track."
"Well. It seems like you're building up to a proposal and I'm not here for it. Just tell me what you want instead of the creepy ways you've been keeping note of me."
"Everyone knows what you've been up to. You're practically a celebrity."
"Whoop-de-do. What do you want."
"Whenever you make a fuss Sumeru tunes in, starved for entertainment as they are. The sages are incensed and General Mahamatra is distracted. I need you to keep doing that, but doing it consciously now."
"...Okay? That's it?" Just keep being your troublesome self?
"With the late jobs you pull you're also privy to gossip. Which could lead to good intel if you follow the right gossip. I'm too noticeable. Much more than you are. My proposal is that you continue as you are. Distract the Akademiya, distract Sumeru. Collect intel and deliver it to me when I ask."
You huff and plop yourself down on a crate, crossing a leg over your knee.
"If I do that though, it would put me under more suspicion. My crimes have been elevated from a Violation to a Class B Misdemeanor. I don't have the luxury to do any of that even if I truly wanted to." You shrug.
"I get that you just bailed me out so I could maybe do a job for you, but I'm not risking falling under the Sages hands for…." Yeah, wait, he didn't offer anything. "Yeah, for what?"
"I'll bail you out if you get caught, but only if it's by the local precinct. Any higher jurisdiction I'll also become a suspect. Any funds you need I'd also be willing to provide."
"...You just have money to spend, don't you?"
"Consider it charity." He looks you up and down and that bastard. Yeah, your clothes look wrinkled and a little threadbare, but that's a part of your charm. The ruffian bard, so to speak.
Even if pebbles keep getting inside the hole in your boot. You hadn't been able to fix it yet.
"Okay, you pay me and bail me out for gathering intel wherever you need me to, and distracting Sumeru too, that's the deal? So everything I've already been doing." You shrug.
"I assume you have no demands?"
"Hm. I want to discuss the intel I gather at your place."
"Absolutely not." He shoots you down immediately, but you're not discouraged.
"Why not?! Kaveh always tells me about your horrible art decor and I wanna see how bad it really is." You kick your feet, but he still shakes his head.
"It's like you're trying to garner attention."
"I've been on the downlow lately, no ones going around looking for me. The General should also still be on an excursion for the better half of this week, so I'm led to believe." You snort.
"But I don't. These things take weeks but he's been running himself ragged lately. He'll probably be back in a day or two."
"We'll see if that holds weight. I don't suppose you know anything about the General's recent work ethic though, do you?"
"Constantly annoyed by my continued tomfoolery, I suppose. Anyways!" You snap up to your tip toes and grin.
"How about a down payment? I got plenty of info already, so why not?"
"I'll pay you after I get the intel."
"You seem like the type of guy to scam a person and do it smooth too. Payment first."
"I'm not giving you mora so you can run off like a little imp."
"Don't call me an imp again. I guess it's a good thing then that I don't want your money!" You put your hands in your pockets and rock back in your heels with your fake cheer. He raises an eyebrow.
"You obviously need it."
"Well duh, of course I do. But I prefer to work for my own." If there's one thing your parents taught you, it's that money honestly isn't worth a thing unless you earn it honestly.
And none of this seems honest or even good, actually. You make such bad judgements calls. At least you have a conscience.
"I'm sure you have a plethora of hidden funds you're just waiting to drain that won't show on your bank records, but I'm not taking it. I can manage." He looks disbelieving, and you're sure he thinks you're joking, or that you'll change your mind soon. Tempting as that offer was, you're not taking it, its way too sketchy. He just looks like hes yo to something, which, technically he is. But your parents taught you better!
"So what do you want then?"
"Hm…" you put a hand to your chin like you don't already know.
"A place to crash once or twice a week. That's all. Paying rent to an inn is getting expensive, and the beds arent even good." For emphasis you stretch your arms above your head, cracking a few joints.
"...Let me guess. Specifically at–"
"Specifically at your place, yeah." Yeah, you really wanna see this place. Youre going to. Kaveh has been so adamant about you never meeting his roommate or going to their shared space, and you're already working on breaking his second wish.
"Tell me, does the General or the sages believe I'd be hiding at the house of one of their officials? No. Even if they end up suspecting you they won't suspect our correlation."
"There's actually a chance they might," he counters. "With the fact that you're acquainted with my roommate."
"And not many people know you two are roommates. We just need to make sure that Kaveh doesn't figure out our relationship."
If he figured out this meeting happened he would yell and holler up to Celestia. Everyone under the sun would know, so you can't let him know. Absolutely not.
"You two have a sorta strange relationship so I'm sure that you didn't tell him that you were gonna bail me out. I'll tell him it was an anonymous person who bailed me out, perhaps a secret admirer." You flutter your lashes, but he seems unresponsive. What a statue.
"And when could we arrange this?"
"How about when I'm giving you my intel? It would be pretty late at night you know so people won't see me sneaking in through the back door or something. And if they do they'll just think I'm your lover or sonething."
He seems to think for a moment, and, really, wow, you've never seen eyes like his before. You've seen people with two different colored eyes, but no one with three colors per eye. It's really pretty actually.
Finally he nods, begrudgingly.
"Fine. It's a deal. Doesn't cost much on my end anyways."
"Well this is invaluable to me, so thank you!" the fake cheer in your voice doesn't go unnoticed, and he reaches a handout for a handshake. You take it (Holy Celestia his hand is huge what the fuck? His fingers way go past your wrist) and shake it firmly. You were a knight, you're sure you have a good handshake, but you suspect that's not the reason why he looks at his hand when you pull away. Bitch.
"Is there anything you'd like to know right now?" You ask, professional mode.
"Have you heard anything about the knowledge capsules?"
"The illegal production of them or the ones being stolen and sold from the Akademiya?" You're pretty sure you see his eyes light up something, not sinister, but calculating. You smile, bold, and gesture towards the alleyway.
"Lead the way Grand Scribe. I'll talk along the way."
________
"It's funny how you impose a no overnight guest rule but lift it for me."
"Kaveh's guests are usually just as drunk and rowdy as he is. So that rule only applies to him."
"And I'm never not drunk or rowdy?"
"You are, just not as often. And you have more tact. I make the rules here anyways, so I decide when and when not to impose them."
"Some people would call you a hypocrite."
"I don't care." You chuckle, and go back to toweling your hair.
Ready access to a shower is something you'll never take for granted again. Communal showers and baths got the job done, but leisurely soaking under the water was such a wondrous feeling you had nearly forgotten. One thing that you missed from inazuma- their baths and saunas, pure heaven.
Amazing smelling soaps and shampoos and lotions was another, things too tedious to carry around while traveling. Now your hair has gotten less frazzled and your skin has never been better in the handful of weeks Al Haitham has 'employed' you.
You had raised an eyebrow at Al Haitham, when you noticed all the new bottles after the first few times you crashed at his place, late at night, right after delivering intel.
"...Why don't you let me use the guest room and bathroom?"
"I'm not having you leave any evidence behind. That's why you've been using mine."
"I get that…but um. What is all of this?" You gesture at the bottles. They're all scents he would never use; vanilla, lavender, cinnamon, jasmine and saffron musk and the like. Soaps that smell like fruits and creamy lotions and sweet body scrubs.
He stood quiet for a few minutes, but answered you.
"....I unfortunately have a conscience, so if you won't accept money I have to imburse you some other way." He didn't even look up from the papers he was looking over, this convo a distraction.
"They seemed like things you would enjoy. So the toiletries are for you. Use them." And he waved a hand at you, dismissive.
You didn't know how to respond, so you just grinned and took an extra long bath.
Now, you delight in how soft and clean you are, and tottle over to where Al haitham sits on the couch, book in hand. You plop down next to him.
"Whaddya reading?"
"Something light."
"Yeah, whaddya reading?"
"The Cultural and Generational study of Linguistics as a philosophy as Opposed to a Social Mechanic. Just some light reading."
"Oh yeah, you Haravat peeps are big into languages and stuff. Do you know how to speak any other languages?"
"The Sage for Haravat has to be fluent in at least twenty languages to qualify."
"Archons be damned. What about you?"
"I can speak some." You tap his arm to try and get him a bit more into the conversation.
"Okay, then indulge me! Say something in another language."
"Eres molesto." You frown, and answer back in the same tongue.
"Cabron"
"Perra."
"Burra."
"Tonta."
"Pendejo."
"En realidad soy bastante inteligente."
"Sure you are." You sigh.
"I'm not the one who let my studies fall to the wayside to join a group of Knights only to drop out whilst being in a position of power to travel the world as a bard." He says, and yeah, that stung a little. Fucker.
"School just wasn't for me. I learn better with hands-on experience, going at my own pace."
"That's what all the dropouts say."
"I kept up my education in other ways, alright?! I've traveled and seen more than you ever have."
"That's true. You have seen and experienced things I have yet to." He says. He doesn't add anything, and the room falls back into silence.
You can hear the crickets outside. Soon, you'll be able to hear the odd owl or two, hooting away at the night. A half muffled conversation you hear, whispers from the open window.
"But, I'm still smarter than you." Silence and peace, broken. You grab one of the couch pillows and try to smack him. He stops it with a hand though.
"Oh shut up! You act like that makes you so much better than me."
"Who's the one with the most mora between us?"
"Mora isn't worth a damn thing except the value people put on it."
"Which is quite a lot, so my question still stands." You huff and snatch back the pillow, clutching it to your chest.
"Don't you get tired of the nomad life?" He asks you suddenly, seriously.
"Wouldn't you like to actually settle down somewhere, have some stability?"
"Well, with my record it probably won't be in Sumeru." You laugh, trying to make light of the way Al haitham is looking at you, the way he looked away from his book the first time that night.
"But I have no plans for anything right now. That might seem aimless but I find it freeing. I could go anywhere, I could do nearly anything. The only thing I have to follow is my own compass and everything else will align."
"That sounds like you expect the world to just adhere to you and follow your whims."
"Of course I don't expect that. But fortune favors the bold, and I'm tired of being meek. I fell into conformity and enjoyed the monotone nature of it all before, because I was scared of change." You stare off into space, lost in your thoughts of what was.
"I had to put myself out there to know this, but I'd rather be scared of what's coming rather than what could be, you know? It's easy to get dragged into a lifestyle and think that it's the best you can get, but I crave a thrill. I'm young, so I'm going to be a little crazy, a little reckless. It's the right of youth after all."
"Hm." That's his only reply. You don't look up from where you're holding the pillow, staring down at your feet, still kinda wrinkly from soaking for too long.
"That mindset was for when we were teenagers. That doesn't apply as you get older."
"Says who? Society? As long as I'm able to, and as long as I want to, I'm to travel and sing and dance. It makes me feel good. I feel alive. Even if I'm condemned for it I won't stop."
"Really? If you keep annoying the Sages they might just have to double down on you," he says, like discussing the weather.
"And the General Mahamtra Cyno. For some reason you're able to hold him at bay, but for how long? Will you continue, should they get more aggressive?"
"Of course. I have to."
"You have to?"
"Yeah. Even if I can't do it here, I'll find some place where I can." You nod, somber.
"I have to. It's like….it's just inside of me and I have to let it out."
"Like stimming?"
"Almost! But…more. Just more. It just demands to be heard," you poke at your collarbone, lost in contemplation.
"It just…scratches at the inside of me."
"....Well, that's the Monstadt in you." He sighs again, exasperated, and you're sure he is, but you're sure he's starting to get used to your company too.
You kinda just…spilled your guts a little, didn't you? How embarrassing. But when you look up, Al haitham has his eyes on his book again.
"How about you go to sleep already? You have a job tomorrow."
"Well, the couch I've been allowed to occupy has been taken over already so I'm afraid not."
"I caught you sleeping standing up once, I'm sure half a couch can suffice."
"No, get off."
"No. My couch. My room."
"That you let me sleep in. Turn off the light, too."
"No. I'm reading. I'm not going to do either."
"Well fine then!" And just like that you plop your head into his lap.
He moves his book out the way and blinks down at you, actually looking a little astonished.
"What the fuck do you think your doing?" You snort.
"Oh wow, you cursed. Oh uh, I'm going to sleep?"
"With your head in my lap?"
"Yeah, do you work out by any chance? Of course you do look at your biceps, but this," you tap his thigh. "Is not a very comfy pillow. You're not very soft."
"Then get off." You shut your eyes and immediately pretend to be sleeping already, even if you can't help the twitching at the corner of your mouth.
"What was that? I'm sleeptalking and can't hear you over the fact that I'm very deep in my REM cycle now." You fake snore just to sell it and you swear you could feel him roll his eyes.
But he doesn't move you, and you're actually dog tired, and soon, you're fast asleep.
******
His leg goes numb in half an hour, but he still doesn't yet move.
You're really snoring now, and he's sure there'd be droll if you had laid your head to the side. But your mouth is slightly parted, and even breaths leave your nose. You really fell asleep in his lap.
And for some reason he let you.
You're touchy, and nosy, but useful. You keep eyes off him when he needs to gather intel on his own, whatever you can't get him. You don't ask for much and do your community time when you're caught and sentenced. You enjoy it actually. Giving back and whatnot.
Kaveh continually gushes on about you, but should he offer the slightest bit of interest he suddenly turns snarky and possessive. Like a desert fox not wanting to share, he says that he wouldn't want to poison you with his everything.
He has to laugh a little. If only he knew.
Perhaps he could help you out. He's really cheating you with how much intel you bring in, and while he normally wouldn't feel anything, something about you pokes at his conscience.
He's sure he could help you acquire some sort of position that would allow you to continue your...hobbies. Probably at the Zubayr theater. And what about your vision?
You've been trying to hide it but he's caught a glimpse of its fiery red hue a couple of times. It would serve you well, whether gathering intel or defending yourself from troublemakers. You've had a couple scruffles and loose calls that could be avoided.
The only problem is the fact you need a high ranking signature. And you can't ask, no one would be willing to sign for you.
Except for him, perhaps. But were you worth the suspicion?
You'd undoubtedly be able to do more with your vision. You'd be much more useful. If he gets you a position at the theater you'd be more willing to do work for him. It would reap him many rewards. He should start treating you more like a business partner than an employee. Then it's decided.
He'd also have you start taking your payment already. Multiple small withdrawals from the bank would look less suspicious then one large one, and he's tired of you forcing yourself to some strict moral code. Baths and a place to crash are basic rights, not payment. If you're working for him you'll get payed, end of chapter.
Speaking of chapters, he'll move once he finishes this one. Once you were asleep you wouldn't wake until your body was sufficiently rested, a horrible quirk of yours, so he could move without you stirring.
He'd let you stay where you are for a bit longer.

somewhere above the rainbow
characther : kaveh x reader genre : fluff/angst
summary : you moved to sumeru to continue your study at the academia and met someone unexpectedly, never did you thought that person would change your life so much.
Tumblr media
"the names kaveh, what's yours may i ask?" a smile was plastered on kaveh's lips.
it was the first day you went into the academia, the environment feels so different here than it was in mondstatd. the hallway is packed with students and you were there, walking by yourself, not knowing where to go.
thankfully a guy bump into you while you were not looking, "ouch, sorry" you apologized and look to the classes to search for your class "it's fine, i should be the one apologizing anyway.. you looking for someone?" he asked
you averts your gaze towards him "no,, i'm looking for my class"
"well what class are you looking for?" you tell him the specified class
"i might say it's your lucky day girlie, that's my class , let's go, i'll show you the way" the guy starts guiding you towards your class
"come on you can seat next to me" he pats the empty spot next to him before taking a seat in his spot.
"soo, what's your name?" you asked awkwardly "glad you ask, the names kaveh, what's your may i ask?" a smile was plastered on kaveh's lips "it's y/n, nice to meet you kaveh" "you too y/n"
weeks and months had pass and each day your friendship with kaveh grows stronger and tighter.
"hey y/n, mind if i stay at your place for a while?" kaveh asked while he pack his bag
"sure, why though?" "well, my mother is inviting her friends over and i really don't want to be there you know? with all of the middle aged woman who keeps on commenting about my life?" he complains
"i- yeah, i totally get you, and sure let's go"
the walk home was short, for you live near the academia. "good afternoon y/n, glad you're back, and i see that you bring your friend here too, let me help you with your bags" your maid, Alia took both yours's and kaveh's bag.
"want anything ve? i'm going to have a snack" "uh.. yeah sure"
"just make yourself feel at home" you tell him and kaveh just gave you a nod
after you got your snacks, the both of you went back to the living room to do your assignments.
a couple of hours had pass and you're starting to get bored "hey, mind if i bake some cookies?" you asked
kaveh looked dumbfound "..huh?" "i've finished my work and i'm getting quite bored"
"oh yea sure, go ahead" kaveh said
not long after you went to the kitchen kaveh finishes his work and went after you. hearing a footsteps behind you, you turn around to see kaveh.
"soo what're you makin?" he asked while peeking his head to the mixing bowl
"chocolate chip cookie" you answered his eyes shines like a little kid "cool! can i help?" "why not"
he then began to pour the ingredients in, of course all under your watch.
midway mixing, a brilliant idea makes its way into kaveh's head, "ooh, what if we add harra fruit in?"
"no, it'll taste weird" kaveh went up to you with his diced up harra fruit.
hearing that, he stood silently in his place, hands still holding the fruit and eyes locking with you, just as you were about to turn back to your batter you see kaveh dashing up to the bowl, wanting to throw the fruit
"NO!" thankfully you managed to hold his wrist right before he threw the harra fruit
"but i love themmmm" he whines "and i don't, now if you don't mind why don't you put- NOOO" seeing you ramble, kaveh took that as an opportunity and threw the fruit into the bowl!
"hehehehe" kaveh gave you a devilish laugh
*ding* after thirty minutes the cookies are finally ready. "finally" kaveh mutter and went up to the oven.
"kaveh wait you haven't-!" "OUCH WHAT THE FUCK YOU PIECE-" wow. this is the first time you've hear words that beautiful.
seeing kaveh jumping and flapping his hands around the air to soothe the burn away, could only make you laugh.
"not funny!" he complaints "so-sorry" you apologies in the middle of your laughing
you regain your composure and grab the oven glove kaveh forgot "you haven't wear these glove, kaveh" you show him your gloved hands and took the tray of cookies out.
the smell a bit weird becuase kaveh insist of adding the fruit so you ends up placing a diced of harra furit on top of three of the cookies. "mmm it smells so nice"
"what is this smell? did you burn something y/n?" your mother came into the kitchen with a scrunched up face
oh how funny it is to see kaveh's face turn red from embarrassment, your mother looks at kaveh with a surprised look
"oh i didn't know you're inviting your friend over y/n, hello, what's your name?"
"it's kaveh mrs hehe" kaveh let's out an awkward chuckle
"um we're baking cookies mother, and i did a little experment with a few of them, thought they'd turn out nice but,, yeah didn't become what i've hoped for" you explained sheepishly while showing her the cookies.
she looks at it unconvinced and a bit grossed out ouch before shrugging and leave.
two years had passed and both of your's and kaveh's friendship is undoubtly strong. yet now you're at the end of your journey, and what a crazy one it was. it felt like you were just here yesterday but here you are now, graduating.
a black robe and a black hat was worn by everyone, sitting impatiently to hear their names being called. and there it was, your name. you stood up and walk towards your teacher,
this is it, you've finally finish. all of your hard work they pays off. "congratulation y/n may the dendro archon bless your journey"
walking off the stage, you also hears kaveh's name being called, he stood up and walk proudly to the stage, oh how happy does he looked when it was his turn.
i mean of course, graduation is something special! it's the one day you could celebrate your success in school.
but in the amidst of these happiness you could feel a bit of sadness inside you.
your parents had decide that you'll be going back to mondstadt. "wow that's so cool! you could live in peace there, mondstadt is the city of freedom right!" that's what they all said.
and they're right, mondstadt is a beautiful place. but a part of you still wanna stay here. in sumeru, with kaveh.
kaveh run up to you with a bright smile, "we finally did it y/n! we finally graduate!"
"yeah" you gave him a small smile
"aren't you excited?! you're going back to mondstadt right? i heard it's a nice place"
"yup" you could see the happiness in his eyes, those eyes that sparkles like kids. how you're going to miss seeing them
without you realizing, a tear drops from your eye.
"hey why are you crying?" kaveh looks at you worriedly
you wipe them and chuckle "nothing, i'm just sad that i can't see your stupid grin again"
"..ouch, and besides, we could always meet up, i really want to visit mondstadt too"
"yeah, i guess you're right.. and.." kaveh looks at you, waiting for you to continue "nevermind"
today is the day you leave to mondstant, "i'll miss you y/n" al haitham said with his usual tone
"you too, al haitham" you smile at him
"oh, and could you give this to.. kaveh? please don't open it" you show him a letter, wrapped so delicately
"sure" you thank him and leaves, seeing that kaveh couldn't bid you his final goodbye he sent haitham to look for you the last time.
"here, y/n wanted to give you this" al haitham shoves the letter to kaveh's face.
he took it and glare at his roomate "you didn't read it before me right?" and al haitham just hum as he leave
kaveh admire the delicately wrapped letter that's a bit wrinkled from al haitham's shoving just now. slowly he opens them and read the letter.
to my dearest friend, kaveh
hi kaveh! how're you doing? i hope you're doing alright. one thing i know is that you probably read this when i'm way in mondstadt. there's actually one thing i need to say,
the truth is i've fallen for you, kaveh. your dazzling face always seem to haunt me everyday. year after year we spent together as friend only make me fall harder.
at first, i refuse to believe i actually like you, i'm scared of the heartbreak that may come my way if you tell me you only see me as your friend.
but in the end, i gave up. i stop pretending i don't have feelings for you. Kaveh, i love you from the deepest part of my heart.
everyday for two years we've spent together, all of the ups and down we experience as students, i love all of it.
i've notice all of the small details about you, stuff that may be an ick to other people, but to me, they're adorable. those small habits you have is what makes you, you.
Kaveh i don't know if this feeling of mine is mutual, but even if it's not i wouldn't say i regret loving you. ever. loving you was never a mistake.
for now we are no longer together. i wanted you to know that i'll always love you with every breath i take.
kaveh, i wish you all of the best to come your way,
may we meet again in the brighter future!

HELP RIN I often asked myself what's wrong with me; I literally envied the other ppl falling in love with playable characters and then there is me like 🧑‍🦯 (my bestie tried to make me fall in love with Thoma in a point of time HELP)
oh? I will tell your hubby's about this 🤸
Sure sure we both know what I meant by that huh? <3 *wink* (Zhongli fits literally in every AU though 🧘💞)
Wait I thought it's #Zhongrin? <33
Rin it's the truth! That's so smart.. you're smart! ❤️
LMAO OFMFBSJSBBS that's literally so funny and also adorable!! 💞💞
*Kaveh and me filming while eating popcorn and drinking tea* the tea is hot sis (Kaveh and me are #1 Meitham shippers /hj)
Omg Rin it's flustering me aaaaaa my mind 😳🫣
UM WHAT?? AN ANIMAL-THEMED NICKNAME?? UM EHRHIRJSN I don't think so, but if he would have one for me I think it would be "my butterfly"? Cuz I like them. Lmao. And if I would've one for him it would be "my dove" because idk. Lmao. (I am so not creative omfg)
What about your hubby's? Do they have an animal-themed nickname for you and vice versa? <33
Ofmshisjsbsjsjs AAAA a doggo?? A small one?? In ya teahouse?? So cute! Even I would like to pet it! (For context: I have quite a phobia against dogs heh;;..)
Yes. Plants are pets. They also need to be taken care of. Definitely. (Rin he needs to teach you then how to take care of them wdym <3)
That's so cute <3 dw everyone has their chaotic moments.. maybe even our hubby's? 🤭💞
And help how could I not ship it? It's so so cute aaaaaa <333
Ohhh I understand! Yes they need to protect their cute wifey <33 from confrontation and from someone who crosses her boundaries (and if they won't protect you, I will. >:) )
Dragon Zhongli mmmmm, so many possibilities what to do with him. And I see ruts, I see. I see. "Sensitive" you say? Aha. (No vulgar thoughts, nooooo *whistles* <3)
Mhm! But of course, even I am kind of jealous sometimes. But we also talk it out and then I am the one who gets showered with love, heh. Communication is the key, and love. ❤️ <3
..... Rin my mind is running places at ur question but I don't think ya mean the nsfw version (or do you? I can answer it in the next ask if ya want heh) soooo sfw version!;
I would say in that point we don't have one who is more dominant, we both decide where we go to have our dates, what we will do today, what we will eat today. But when it comes to making the first step (confession, proposal) then it would be Baizhu (although even he is pinning on me for quite a long time heh.). Because when it comes to these steps, I am kinda shy 🧘 (and oblivious, I would think Baizhu doesn't want to marry me for example.)
And we both are quite affectionate, but if you want to know who is more - it would be me, heh. I'm sorry but when I see his face I just wanna kiss him all over and tell him how much I love him and how happy I am that he is simply existing. <33 ❤️
What about you? Who is more affectionate and dominant in your selfships? 💞💞 (Feel free to do both versions if ya want heh 🧘❤️)
(SAME BESTIE. SAME. Xkdjsbsjjssn I feel so safe here to talk about it <33 thank you so much for it! 💞)
ahdklajsjdkas i mean to be fair thoma's a good guy!!! malewife material fr hehe look at it this way: you know it's real love when you still love him despite his minimum amount of screen time 👍🏻
wait what no don't tell him help /silly /lh
#dresvi and #zhongrin ties for 1st place of 'liyue's most beloved couple' and 'liyue's couple goals' <3
and now they even have tea oh lord- well i'm glad we're a good source of entertainment 🤣 pls why can i see you and kaveh being best buds and slandering us (affectionately) over a pot of tea or something hahahah
MY BUTTERFLY AND MY DOVE AAAAA *kicking my feet giggling* THATS SO CUTE WAUGH and that's not uncreative at all, dove suits baizhu!!!
hmmmm not really but i can see zhongli calling me "little hatchling" bc i mean. compared to him. i'm just a teeny weeny lil hatchling if i were a dragon lol meanwhile al haitham calls me "puppy" if he's in a very playful mood (which isn't often, but it happens sometimes hehe)
awwww dw if you come over we can always put the lil doggo in the kennel (or on zhongli's lap lol)!! and yeah al haitham definitely needs to try and teach me how to not kill a plant ;w;
halkjdlas stoppp you're all spoiling me. i can be vicious too yk bark bark woof woof grrr >:T
vulgar thots what vulgar thots definitely not, not at zhongrin at tumblr dot com nooooooo /lie
...... i meant it as an sfw question but feel free to elaborate on the nsfw side ;)))
hmhm yes i see... i can totally relate! zhongli and al haitham takes the lead in the relationship too - although zhongli always tries to check back whether i'm ok with things. al haitham's more of a "if i hear no protest from you then we'll go with what i decided so you better speak up" approach lol
for the nsfw version..... they're most definitely the dominant ones hsldfkjskld although sometimes i try (keyword: TRY) to take the lead but most of the times i'm just too shy to take control hsldjflsjdk altho... idm initiating, if yk what i mean ;)) they don't have that high of a libido (except when zhongli's in his rut).... but a girl's got needs too 👀
(YAY!!!! tis my goals to have ppl be comfy sharing about their selfships on this blog hehe)

Tighnari knocks twice and waits, hoping that he interpreted the light in the windows correctly and will find Kaveh at home. It's late enough to reasonably assume that he's gone home - even if he spent a little time at the tavern - but not so late that Tighnari is afraid he'll disturb him as he's getting ready for bed.
It's unusual for Tighnari to show up announced but tonight he has a solid reason and part of it is the big basket filled with snacks and gifts in his arms. It holds different fruit in appetizing colors, a bottle of sweet wine, neatly cut halva in a pretty little bag, and a wooden box that holds a few clumps of clay in different colors for modeling objects. It's more refined stuff than the ones children like to play with and he figured it could help Kaveh when planning his projects.
Tumblr media
When the door finally opens Tighnari is relieved to find Kaveh standing in front of him and not Alhaitham. He smiles, though his ears fold back against his head as he readies himself for an apology. "I know I've missed your birthday - I apologize first and foremost. I didn't forget, I promise. I received message from my father that morning, who returned from his expedition for a a little less than two days and I couldn't pass that opportunity to see him." Tighnari speaks a little faster than normal, hoping that he can get through it quickly and ease whatever upset Kaveh may feel directed at him at present.
"I haven't seen him in months and I might not see him again for another year.. it was all very last minute. I'm sorry I couldn't even send you a letter." Holding up the basket a little, he offers an apologetic look. "I am here now.. may I humbly request your forgiveness and another chance to celebrate your birthday with you?"
Tumblr media
Hmm? Who could that be at this late hour?
A pair of bare feet traverse the shared space, curious about who it might have been. Kaveh's hand extends for the handle, and a gentle click is heard as he opens it ajar. He was both surprised and delighted to see his friend. "Oh! Tighnari!" he exclaimed. He had noticed his absence on his birthday and hadn't seen him since. Since nobody locally had seen him, and he hadn't yet seen Cyno, he was beginning to worry.
Increasingly opening the door and extending the invitation, he listened to his speech. As soon as he mentioned his father, he was already over being upset that his close friend couldn't be with him on his birthday. Kaveh smiled warmly at the fact that he had taken to such lengths to fix it, and - of course not to offend, he wouldn't cut off Tighnari - the second he finished speaking, he reached out and lightly touched the man's shoulder.
Tumblr media
"Thank you, Tighnari." The smile on his face grew brighter. "I hope everything is well with your father? I'm glad you could see him - come - it's cold out here; there seems to be a chill in the air tonight," he says as he walks into the house. "This is very considerate of you. I... almost don't know what to say." Tucking his hair behind his ear, he avoided looking at him for a moment, trying to avoid appearing rude.
When he spotted the wine peeking out of the basket, he moved forward to obtain it. "Here, what's say we have a bottle of wine between friends." Kaveh didn't expect any large display of affection; he was simply... "I enjoy your company Tighnari; this... truly means a lot to me."

Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises Archon Quest scattered thoughts, because sometimes i just got too excited and needed to communicate it. spoilers, obvi.
-I’m gonna miss seeing Tighnari, dammit. I want Tighnari :(
-This is ridiculous, every time Tighnari and Cyno appear together, I start wheezing. They are ACTUALLY close! Amazing!
-How good is Tighnari’s EN VA tho. So good.
-My experience through the quest can be summarized as: “OMG what’s happening?! Hey, you’re pretty. OMG NO! Hey, you’re pretty. OMG-”
-Everyone in Sumeru is so hard on poor Paimon.
-Paimon: Alhaitham, you betrayed us! Me: No, he didn’t, he’s playable, shush.
-Scaramouche though. He’s just. He’s well-crafted.
-Cyno’s lil eye under the fringe, I love seeing his lil eye.
-Aether SPEAKS EEEEK I’m crying.
-Playing as Nilou and Izak to progress the story, that’s awesome.
-Azar: Cyno... Have you been waiting for a chance like this? We all have, man. We all have.
-Nahida would love reality tv, just saying.
-Nahida cries and I cry with her.
-The people of Sumeru now dream. Take that, Sumeru trailer.
-Oh! WE remember! Ooohh. Paimon also forgot! Ooohhh, what are we.
-Nooo!!! The Doctor?! I thought we were safe now!
-Hmm, so Paimon and the Traveler are not gods.
-What did he say about the fake skies of Teyvat! Dammit!
-Alhaitham/Kaveh enemies-to-lovers 50k anyone?
-Looking forward to the fanart of Cyno hauling the Traveler and Paimon back to Tighnari.
-Dehya/Dunyarzad writes itself, obvi.
-It’s like Zhongli said, we’re the only witness to history (well, something along those lines).
-We ARE friends, Cyno, I’m glad to hear you say so too.
-I might be spending a little too much time with Cyno, because I, too, think that the Sages could do with a little more punishment.
-Scaramouche is in a coma? Damn, now I’m more excited for 3.3, to actually see how he becomes the Wanderer!
-Lmfao, an Archon that actually tells us something about our sibling, who would have thought.
-FOURTH Descender?!
-Oh. Oh, our TWIN sibling isn’t a Descender and is from Teyvat. That doesn’t complicate things at all.

"You cannot be serious." Hand on his wrist, Kaveh's expression straddles the line between panicked and frustrated. "You can't– this isn't something you can just go out and observe-! You'll get yourself hurt!" Though whether by the Antimatter Legion or frazzled Cloud Knights is up in the air. The look he receives in return is equally frustrated, but stubborn, making Kaveh's fingers twitch around his wrist a hair tighter. "... fine. Fine!" Loosening his grip, both his hands are thrown upward, giving up on common sense entirely. He should know better than to think it will work on him by now anyway. "But if you're going, then I'm going with you! Heaven only knows what you'd end up in otherwise. But if anything happens to Mehrak," it won't, his intrepid little assistant is sturdier than most things in the Xianzhou, "then you're footing the bill and helping me with his repairs!"
Tumblr media
KAVEH’S GRIP ON HIS wrist was tight – so much that he paused, eyes narrowing with his own quiet frustration. Why could they not see that he could handle himself just fine? The Legion was more of a mindless annoyance than anything else, hungry in their desire for destruction at the behest of Nanook, and easy to deal with as a result of this single-mindedness. However, he shouldn’t be annoyed with Kaveh. They were concerned for his well-being – rightfully so considering most in their right mind would never go anywhere near such dangerous beings. ❝Get myself hurt? Hah! They should be worried about me, not the other way around.❞ Arrogant words, or confident, it mattered little. He was not going to bend on this, and the understanding that dawned in Kaveh’s eyes said everything. They knew that saying anything further might as well be no different from trying to push a boulder. A slight smirk tugged at his lips, amusement there despite everything at that defeated fine. ❝Well, then, I will see you when…❞ He paused.
     Wait what---?
Blinking a couple times, he allowed Kaveh’s words to sink in, gaze shifting from him to his constant companion, Mehrak, and then back again. ❝That was…unexpected.❞ Highly so. The Architect always came across as someone who wanted to avoid trouble as much as humanly possible (like most normal people), but here he was, ready to rush off into danger with him without a second thought. He could have attempted to deter them the same way that Kaveh had tried to deter him, yet what was the point in that? Both were so terribly stubborn that even if he had chosen to somehow sneak away from the other to go and do his research, Kaveh would have chased after him and…oh the lecture he would have to deal with when all was said and done. ❝Good, good! I knew you had a hunger for adventure deep within you, Kaveh! You need not worry about anything. We will be in and out before you know it.❞
Famous last words before a disaster.

                    – – a Remi Warner playlist.
1. “Snufs” Kaveh, OnklP   /  (TRANSLATED)
Long fingernails, on some pimp shit Out to find a fucking nightclub to paint white Tony Montana, don’t think he accepts credit But he’ll happily give you your first hit Yo, come and get a (bump of cocaine)
And she asked me if I was keen on something And the line to the bathroom was fucking long cause all the boys were on some
2. “Day ‘N Nite” Kid Cudi
Slow mo When the tempo slows up and creates that new, new He seems alive though he is feeling blue The sun is shining, man, he’s super cool, cool The lonely nights they fade away He slips into his white Nikes He smokes a clip and then he’s on the way To free his mind in search of
Day and night, the lonely stoner seems to free his mind at night He’s all alone and through the day and night The lonely loner seems to free his mind at night At, at, at night
3. “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked” Cage The Elephant
Oh, there ain’t no rest for the wicked Money don’t grow on trees I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed And ain’t nothing in this world for free Oh, no, I can’t slow down, I can’t hold back Though you know I wish I could Oh, no, there ain’t no rest for the wicked Until we close our eyes for good
4. “Cold Wolves” The Gromble
‘Cause there weren’t many times that we shared a bed In the presence of strangers, you’d be sharing with them Needed protection and kept me around But I would always let you down Oh, I can always let you down
Machines keep on working I want to believe But tries are to no avail Some of us were born to fail
5. “Let It Bleed” The Used
This poison’s my intoxication I broke the needle off in my skin Picked the scabs and picked the bleeding And assumed that it was all in vain Pulled at a scab that’s never healing Callused, hit me in the face A burning bridge that’s so misleading Poison’s more potent now with the flame
Let it bleed, take the red for what it’s worth Watch the fire Fill your lungs with smoke for the last time If you feel like dying, you might wanna say
The fire department couldn’t drown the city They didn’t even try to wash it clean And what did you think – that I was sober? Put me out ‘cause I’m on fucking fire I pulled at a scab that’s never healing Regret that I kept this clean The most that I can do for you is keep on lying
6. “Prescription” Mindless Self Indulgence
I’m the doctor, I’m the patient Don’t forget that; it’s important If you love me, like I love me Everybody will be sorry
Well, I don’t need nothing before the show I don’t need nothing, well, that’s not so I need something before the show Just a little something to make me go You know what I want You know what I want Give me more, give me more Pretty please, a prescription Give me more, give me more Pretty please, a prescription
I don’t need no one screwing up my fun Over the counter, fill that prescription I don’t need no one screwing up my fun Turn down the bass and fill that prescription
Make it stop, make it stop Pretty please, a prescription Make it stop, make it stop Pretty please, a prescription
7. “Overdose” Grandson
I couldn’t find the thrill again I couldn’t seem to kill the pain I was living in the moment Searching for a little serotonin But this shit ain’t so fun now I can’t deal with the comedown I’ve been living on the run, now Oh, I gotta get out of this town somehow
‘Cause the bad’s been slowly getting worse In this fast lane, living, it’s a curse Better tell me, what’s your life worth? I think it’s time for a change ‘cause the drugs don’t work Anymore, anymore, anymore
Overdose, overdose, overdose, overdose, overdose All fun and games ‘till I hit the floor, comatose
8. “Little Lion Man” Mumford & Sons
Weep for yourself, my man, you’ll never be what is in your heart Weep, little lion man, you’re not as brave as you were at the start Rate yourself and rake yourself, take all the courage you have left And waste it on fixing all the problems that you made in your own head
But it was not your fault, but mine And it was your heart on the line I really fucked it up this time, didn’t I, my dear?
9. “Dread In My Heart” Mother Mother
There’s a godawful shitty feeling of dread in my heart Yeah, it’s got a lot to do with having to finish what I start And at any second now I think it all might fall apart ‘Cause there’s a godawful shitty feeling of dread in my heart
There’s a devil in my brain with a pitchfork and a flame Yeah, he likes to poke around and he likes to tell me things And whenever I begin to feel like I might be deranged I remember there’s a little shitty devil in my brain
Oh, I wonder what it’s like to be the type who doesn’t burn Yeah, the kind who fights the good fight Not the kind you’d find fisti-fucking-cuffing in the dirt
10. “Heavy Shit” Blake Rose
They tell me ‘why, this is all part of life, you see’ But the world keeps circling around me No, can’t seem to stop beating so hard on myself Hence all the shit I pour out Still haven’t found what I’m looking for No, all of these people keep closing doors They told me ‘you can’t keep holding all this shit to yourself Go find a way to let it pour out’
So here I am, trying to figure where it all went wrong Feel like a ghost in my own damn home Starting to wonder how I got so numb To this heavy shit I pour out Bottoming bottles in the mirror when I’m on my own Feel like I’m lost in my own damn bones Can someone tell me how I got so numb To this heavy shit I pour out?
11. “Discoloration” Dawn Golden
You took my hand and brought me down in the morning And I was sitting waiting for the telephone to swallow me whole I saw your face reflected on the resonant screen And I watched your mouth moving like a tired machine Trying to plead with me Trying to swallow me whole
It’s been a while since I’ve been gone and away And I watched your eyes reflect me in a terrible way As you cast your gaze to the flickering hall
And you knelt beside me and you started to pray And the whites of your eyes blackened with a hardened decay And you talked to me in a broken voice
‘In your open mouth Silence me in your coursing Blood in my eyes Dress me in your clothes And swallow me whole’
12. “Blue And Yellow” The Used
And it’s all in how you mix the two And it starts just where the light exists It’s a feeling that you cannot miss And it burns a hole through everyone that feels it
And you never would’ve thought in the end How amazing it feels just to live again It’s a feeling that you cannot miss And it burns a hole through everyone that feels it
Well, you’re never gonna find it if you’re looking for it Won’t come your way, yeah Well, you’ll never find it if you’re looking for it
Should’ve done something, but I’ve done it enough By the way your hands were shaking Rather waste some time with you Should’ve said something but I’ve said it enough By the way my words were fading Rather waste some time with you
13. “Past Life” Trevor Daniel
I’m trying to be honest with my happiness Don’t know why I’m bad at this And I don’t wanna settle in my sadness I know it’s a habit of mine
Perfect, perfect timing I start what I don’t know how to end Don’t re– don’t remind me I ruined it before it began
Last night was the last night of my past life Got me here like ‘you can never figure me out’ Last night was the last night, was the last time I’ll never let you figure me out Sitting here, talking to myself Thinking how I used to use you, only thing I’m used to Last night was the last night of my past life
14. “Graceless” The National
Graceless Is there a powder to erase this? Is it dissolvable and tasteless? You can’t imagine how I hate this Graceless
I’m trying, but I’m graceless Don’t have the sunny side to face this I am invisible and weightless You can’t imagine how I hate this Graceless
I’m trying, but I’m going through the glass again Just come and find me God loves everybody, don’t remind me I took the medicine and I went missing Just let me hear your voice, just let me listen
All of my thoughts of you Bullets through rotten fruit Come apart at the seams Now I know what dying means I am not my rosy self Left my roses on my shelves Take the wild ones, they’re my favorites It’s the side effects that save us Grace Put the flowers you find in a vase If you’re dead in the mind it’ll brighten the place Don’t let ‘em die on the vine, it’s a waste Grace
There’s a science to walking through windows There’s a science to walking through windows There’s a science to walking through windows There’s a science to walking through windows without you
15. “End Credits” Eden
Cigarette ash like wildfire, burning holes in the nighttime Open scars cut like barbed wire White lies flying high like a ceasefire Dropping flags on the shoreline This is as far as I can feel right ‘Cause what you don’t know can harm you
And all we ever wanted was sunlight and honesty Highlights to wanna repeat Let’s get away from here and live like the movies do I won’t mind when it’s over At least I didn’t think for a while
So let’s run, make a great escape And I’ll be waiting outside for the getaway It doesn’t matter who we are, we’ll keep running through the dark And all we’ll ever need is another day We can slow down, ‘cause tomorrow is a mile away And live like shooting stars ‘Cause a happy ending’s hardest to fake
16. “Bloody Shirt” To Kill A King
What you wanna do tonight? I got wounds to lick in life All you’ve said Standing like a stick, this tie could invert to be a noose instead
Oh, you’re lying next to me Heart is beating heavily Blood in your hair, though, oh, and blood on your shirt
It’s too late to say you’re sorry, say you’re sorry still And I stepped out with heavy heart to bail you out again All those things you do, and all those things you do
Get out, get gone, this town is only gonna get worse Get out, get gone, this town is only gonna eat you
17. “No One’s Here To Sleep” Naughty Boy, Bastille
Every carpet, every floor, everywhere I look, I fall Climbing up the walls, I’m climbing up the walls What goes on behind these doors I’ll keep mine and you keep yours We all have our secrets, we all have our secrets
Behind every door is a fall, a fall And no one’s here to sleep
You were always faster than me I’ll never catch up with you, with you Oh, I can feel them coming for me
Here’s the pride before the fall Oh, your eyes, they show it all I can see it coming, I can see it coming As I rise up through each floor Shit gets dark when you lose it all I can hear it coming, I can hear the drumming
18. “Shots” Imagine Dragons
Am I out of touch, am I out of my place When I keep saying that I’m looking for an empty space? Oh, I’m wishing you’re here But I’m wishing you’re gone I can’t have you, and I’m only gonna do you wrong
Oh, I’m gonna mess this up Oh, this is just my luck Over and over and over again
I’m sorry for everything, oh, everything I’ve done From the second that I was born, I sense I had a loaded gun And then I shot, shot, shot a hole through everything I loved Oh, I shot, shot, shot a hole through every single thing that I loved
Am I out of luck, am I waiting to break When I keep saying that I’m looking for a way to escape? Oh, I’m wishing I had what I’ve taken for granted I can’t have you when I’m only gonna do you wrong
Oh, I’m gonna mess this up Oh, this is just my luck Over and over and over again
19. “Apartment” Young The Giant
After leaving my apartment I feel this cold inside me It howls away all through the market It calls your name
On my way to your apartment I write for fear of silence You carved a boat to sail my shadow Now I walk alone Alright, alright
I hit the sidewalk, and this is how it starts Hide in a raincoat when things are falling apart
After leaving your apartment I hear the coast by nightfall So sure to keep you dreaming You understood Oh, I know you understood Yes, sir, it shows I was no good Alright, alright
I hit the sidewalk, and this is how it starts Hide in a raincoat when things are falling apart ‘Cause sooner or later this is bound to stop Come on, let’s savor What we’re falling over
20. “Munich” Editors
It breaks when you don’t force it It breaks when you don’t try It breaks if you don’t force it It breaks if you don’t try
People are fragile things, you should know by now Be careful what you put them through
People are fragile things, you should know by now You’ll speak when you’re spoken to
With one hand you calmed me With one hand I’m still With one hand you calmed me With one hand I’m still
21. “Tamer Animals” Other Lives
Oh, living for the city And it’s always troubling to keep it in the high lane I don’t care about no scenery And you run from it then Now you can’t escape
‘Cause it’s all you see But we’re all just an end to a simple thing And it’s all you see And it’s all you see
We’re just tamer animals We’re just tamer animals
22. “Silhouette” Jacob Lee
I have tried to quantify the reasons I feel incomplete I guess sometimes my wisdom it figures that’s what I need I have tried to sit beside these demons that trip up my feet I guess sometimes it’s weakness that strengthens the skin on your knees
I’ve not liked myself for quite some time now Standing at the mirror with the lights out Try to keep my shadow at a distance Scared of what it’d say if it could listen
I’ve not known myself for quite some time now Staring at the mirror with the lights out Screaming words that I should probably whisper Terrified the light above might flicker
