do you have thor reading recs/guides/particular run or era to recommmend to get to know and appreciate the characters?

some thor fans and loki fans may disagree with what im gonna say here BUT. i think the run which best encapsulates why i love the character and the universe, as well as having essentially a very long guided tour through some of the most significant points of the thor sub-universe within the larger MU, is jason aaron's huge thor run from 2012 to 2019 (along with everything else happening in the thor universe at that time, covered by al ewing, kieron gillen, and marguerite bennett in a few also very good spinoffs).

this is the series where the God Butcher comes from, where Jane Foster becomes Thor, where loki is canon genderfluid in Agent of Asgard, where thor fights capitalism, and much more. it's not perfect, especially in terms of characterisation when some characters get thrown between their own miniseries and the main run, but it really encapsulates what I love about thor in his comics, and it's the run that, over the course of collecting the five huge paperback collections u can get it in, made me fall in love with this sub-section of the MU

proper reading order under the cut, plus brief explanations of crossover tie-ins and so on. it looks complicated but it's basically just cos marvel loves to re-start with a new #1 every so often to keep sales up, and because i think you should read the accompanying spinoffs. if you don't want to read the excess spinoffs (although agent of asgard is VERY good) just stick to things with 'thor' in the name.

because the marvel universe never stops having big events, an event called AXIS happens immediately after, and results in a bunch of 'heroes' and 'villains' being 'inverted' - the 'villains' becomes 'heroes' and vice versa. both thor and loki are involved in this, covered in:

not one to dawdle, it was a rare sight to see angela, asgard's assassin and leader of the hunt to drift aimlessly through space, angela had not set foot on any solid surface in quite SOMETIME. in fact, she was too preoccupied with the loss and desire waring in her chest.

it was many days, weeks, even, BEFORE angela felt the familiar presence of an entity, a traveler she'd met in her exploration of space, midgard, and every place in between. her lips tugged slightly into a smile, white eyes looking for singularity.

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…

June 13th - Sera

Sera was one of the Anchorites, the rare and wingless male Angels of the heavenly dimension.  These Anchorites were kept as slaves in the temples of Under-Heaven.  When a monster started attacking the temples to devour Anchorites, the heroic Angela spent weeks hunting it down.  The battle between Angela and the beast could have taken a turn for the worse for Angela if Sera had not helped her kill it.  In return for the aide, Sera asked that Angela facilitate their escape from the realm.  

A magical process was discerned that transformed Sera from male to female and this enable her to leave Under-Heaven.  She went to live with Angela and the two ultimately became lovers.

Sera was killed during an adventure and, try as she might, Angella was unable to resurrect her.  Sera had been banished to Hel by a curse cast by Freyja on all of the Angels of Hevan.  

Angela ended up traveling to Hel where she found Sera kept prisoner by Hela.  Angela defeated Hela and became the new Queen of Hel, with Sera becoming her Royal Consort. Before abdicating her role as queen, Angela broke Freyja's curse, thus brining Sera back to life.  She and Angella then moved to New York City where they lived together alongside Leah, and the hellhound Thori.    

The angelic heroine first appeared in the pages of Angela: Asgard's Assassin #1 (2014).

I occasionally read comics. I'm not super picky about what I read, but I love webcomics and when I'm at the local comic shop, I make sure to pick something up that catches my eye.

Last time I was there, I was wearing my leather coat that I keep all my pins on and they noticed the trans pin, so directed me to a comic called "Angela, Asgards Assassin" and just

This is Sera. Trans angel, Angela's wife, fucking awesome person!

I would love to look like her, but I have to reach a goal weight of 135 pounds (61 kg/9.6 stone) and something tells me that much muscle leads to a bit more weight than I'm allowed.

So as an alternative transition goal, I present to you, Kate Kane from Wayne Family Adventures

There's other versions of her but I just love the vibes of this version of Kate. Especially the undercut, I just love the look and I'm a lot more likely to look like that at 135 than Sera (sadly)

Just thought I'd share my transition goals. Once I'm at my goal weight, I'll also share a picture. Shouldn't be too long now
