Castles in the Air

I'm extremely excited to announce that the game I've been working on for the past 4 years is coming to Kickstarter! Castles in the Air (CitA) is a tabletop RPG inspired by the novels of Louisa May Alcott and L.M. Montgomery. Players start as children with boundless dreams who will change over the years based on the relationships they form and choices they make. I think it's a really special game, and I'm looking forward to being able to share it with everyone.

For more information or to sign up to be notified when the Kickstarter launches on May 14th, please check out the game's page on the Storybrewers Roleplaying website. If that name sounds familiar, Storybrewers is the company that created Good Society: A Jane Austen RPG. I feel very honored that they reached out to me about publishing Castles in the Air. While Castles in the Air is a standalone game, its mechanics are inspired by Good Society, and if you like Good Society, I think you'll like CitA too as it allows you to tell similarly compelling stories.

I will be creating some blog posts talking about the literary inspirations for different parts of the game in the weeks leading up to the Kickstarter and during its run. I will be using this as a master post to keep track of all of them, so make sure to check back here or follow my blog if you are interested.

Historically accurate Fullmetal ideas. (Meaning clothing wise.) Part one ig.

So one thing about me is the fact I'm heavily into historical fashion.

It's been over five years since I've started to study it. So yeah, needless to say almost everyone i know is well aware of my obsession, all starting with Anne of green gables.

Okay so I'm going to start this out with Riza Hawkeye.

So Riza is the character I've thought of the most with this idea purely because of roleplay things, so here's some 1910's dresses i feel would fit her along with a hairstyle.

So let's start with the dresses that go with the theme of blue clothes for her, based off of the military uniform.

I love the idea of her wearing These two. I feel like the light blue would really complement her, It's just such a pretty color and Riza owns it.

Now the next one people might be iffy on, BUT HEAR ME OUT!!

Now just take a second, imangine Riza wearing that. She'd be so so pretty! I honestly can see her loveing lighter shades of colors, them not being super bright and obvious for the most part and Riza not being a social person. It's simple and neat and flattering, very much a Riza dress.

Then this dress I'm a little iffy on her wearing it however, My Roy fictive did say it would look very pretty on her so I'm including it.🤷

On to the hair!!

I can see her wearing it exactly like that, it's out of her face and of her way and it looks neat, put together if you get what i mean?

It looks very nice and it's nothing too big or exciting.

Now for hair for the more fancy events. (Dress included because duh.✋)

In some weird twist of fate I have to take care of a farm and six children this weekend while my relatives are away and like...what kind of Marilla Cuthbert pre-Rainbow Valley roleplay nonsense is this...

-like my relatives are a couple made of one person who works in the medical field and the other is a housewife and they are going away for a bit

-the kids are ages 14-6, yes there are 6 of them and also there is a set of twin girls in there

-there are farm animals to be taken care, especially the chicken coop (the favorite chicken is named Princess Diana)

This all very weirdly lines up with how Marilla had to watch Anne and Gilbert’s children of the same age for sometime at Green Gables while they were off in London (as referenced in Rainbow Valley).

1. What fic have you written that you wish everyone would read?

I worked really, really stupidly hard on scintillating, my famous/not-famous AU. like, worked four years on it. so that’s the one I want people to know me by, y’know? I worked so hard on it, y’all.

2. What’s your favorite character you’ve ever written?

Hm. Good question. I like my Harry in fondre ton absence. I like how he turned out. I didn’t want him to be completely unlikeable, but I also wanted him to be a brat. I think I achieved a good balance.

3. What’s your most popular fic and why do you think it’s your most popular?

my witch Harry Halloween fic starts circulating again every year in the fall, because it’s ~thematic I suppose

4. What’s one of your favorite fan fics that you haven’t written?

The Dead of July without a single second of doubt.

5. What is your current WIP about?

I don’t have one! I don’t really write in the summer because I want to hang out with people without feeling guilty that I’m not at home writing. But I already have a pretty good idea of what my new one will be, see the answer to the question below for more details.

6. What is a fic that you hope to write someday?

I had a dream about two months ago where Harry was a secret agent gone rogue to get the experimental medication needed to save Louis from his life-threatening illness. So that’s what I’m probably going to write next. I just need to flesh it out beyond the images I recall from my dream.

7. Do you read fics from other fandoms? Which ones?

Nope. When I’m into a fandom, I’m 100% loyal to it. I rarely read fics as it is anyway.

8. What author or book has influenced you as a writer?

Madeline Miller, who wrote The Song of Achilles and Circe. I like how simple and vivid her writing is. And so poignant, she tears my heart apart like few writers can.

9. What’s one of your favorite books from when you were a child?

Besides the usual Harry Potter, even before Harry Potter, it was Anne of Green Gables. Oh, and Les malheurs de Sophie by la Comtesse de Ségur. If you know, you know.

10. What’s an au/trope that you thought you didn’t like until you read one and loved it?

I didn’t read it, per se, but I was entirely against hybrids until my friend and I had a roleplay hybrid AU. I was shocked by how much I enjoyed it. I haven’t read any fic of that kind, though.

11. Choose one: angst or fluff?

Angst. I love writing angst. It’s so much fun. It makes me feel things and it’s when the real challenges of writing surface. Fluff is easy and flows out on its own, but angst is when I have to dig deep. I find it cathartic to write.
