Any particular reason you love Batfleck so much? Or is it just a "blorbo I found on the ground and now I'm attached to it" kinda thing?
I think it’s the shared love we both have for alcohol, poor coping mechanisms, and strength training.

i keep thinking about ocelot takarazuka i dont really see the influence like he just looks like a middle age guy with masc features manner and fashion so what do you think the artist actually meant? there's nothing feminine about ocelot like how does the "is that a man or woman" thing play in here cause i don't see it. He's not like raiden or raikov. He's just a guy 🧍‍♂️so how does the all female theatre thing apply
Hello Anon! Full, immediate disclosure, this answer is messy and disjointed. I probably don't even answer the question your asking end of the day, but I'll try my best.
I believe this is the post you're wondering about?
Tumblr media
As I said in this earlier post I'm not a Japanese speaker, so I have to go on interpretation, and what has been offered by the translations available. I can't help but think there is going to be some sort of nuance missing as a result, but I'll do my best.
To start, I think you and I might have a slightly different view on masculine and feminine-to me the two concepts are pretty interchangeable, but I do understand where you're (probably, I don't know you personally after all) are coming from and that, no, Ocelot doesn't have many traditional 'feminine' characteristics.
You'll note that in the original post, Shinkawa refers to getting inspiration from the idea of 'women in their 40's (the age Ocelot almost is in MGSV)' and 'long, flashing eyelashes'. (My interpretation here is that by this, he means in the way long eyelashes that are considered sexy have an eye-catching flow to them. Sort of like how we can say 'fluttering lashes'. Intended to draw a person's gaze in, and command their presence).
Tumblr media
Doing some cursory research tells me that the Takarazuka Revue (because Takarazuka is also a city in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan.) is an all-female musical troupe located within that same city. Started in 1913, by Ichizō Kobayashi.
(I also got distracted by this version that is a performance of Casino Royale, so there's that)
Tumblr media
Anyway, ahem.
"Kobayashi believed that it was the ideal spot to open an attraction of some kind that would boost train ticket sales and draw more business to Takarazuka. Since Western song and dance shows were becoming more popular and Kobayashi considered the kabuki theater to be old and elitist."
Throughout the article, there is also this;
"Takarazuka has had a profound influence on the history of anime and manga, especially shōjo manga.[27][28] Osamu Tezuka, a highly influential manga creator, grew up in the town of Takarazuka. His mother knew many of the Takarazuka actresses, and as a child he knew them and watched many of their performances"
I can assume that the performances have a lot of influence on media, and it's not uncommon for MGS to take inspiration. There could be an entire article on the things MGS takes inspiration from, even outside the most obvious like Escape from New York, character model bases, etc.
Cycling back to the original point, (there is also a video that exact post comes from, but I don't have the link on hand, on YouTube *no translations). I think that it's entirely possible Shinkawa took 'loose' inspiration, or a little more. I can see why and how he might've based Ocelot's look on the idea. (Loose shirt, tight pants, scarf open neck). But there is also the element of which Takarazuka is a performance, more than anything.
It's acting. Playing. Something Ocelot does all the time. Half of his time on screen, he's putting on some kind of performance. While this is something he does the least in MGSV, that never fully changes 100%. (And after all, he's also hypnotized for most of the plot). So there's a counter argument to be had that this is one of his greatest performances pre-MGS4. But that's a different post.
Ocelot presents/is masculine. But, he has longer eyelashes, his clothes are a little more 'free' than the standard military garb when he's allowed to choose his own outfit. (Again this is specifically MGSV Ocelot, though there's something to be said about his chosen attire being such a sharp 3 piece later on).
At the end of the day, maybe a way you can look at it is to say that, Shinkawa looked to Takarazuka when designing MGSV Ocelot to give him a sort of 'flow' to his looks. He was attracted to the idea of taking elements from Takarazuka, because Ocelot is a performer, and he sees some possibility for feminine additions in his looks *or* might've thought it more 'fitting' than Kabuki.
But again, I don't know if we see fully masculine and feminine the same way, (and maybe Shinkawa personally associates long eyelashes with sexy women; or women made up to look like men but with longer lashes) I can't know for sure myself. I think you would need a native or very good Japanese speaker to interpret it fully.
If I was to offer you a personal opinion-I can see it. I can see where there's a draw that one might have with the look, and where Shinkawa might've gotten said inspiration. But I am not entirely certain how to put that into words either? My perspective isn't going to be 1-to-1 of yours either.
Maybe someone else can interpret all this better than me, I definitely feel as if I've not done this justice at all. Because at the end of the day, I don't see a hard divide in masculine and feminine in Ocelot, but I think that you, Anon, see him as 100% masculine. But again, I can't speak for you and I am not sure.

Angst;
Foul legacy with a reader who almost died but got saved by FL; but the damage ended up in memory loss.
*evil giggling* oh anon, you've given me too much power >:)
the first thing you feel when you open your eyes again is pain shooting through your body, concentrated in your aching limbs and head, and you let out an involuntary groan. suddenly there's an odd sound- something akin to a chirp- as someone cradles you gently in their lap, and you almost relax until you feel sharp, armored claws brush against your skin. your eyes fly open and meet the gaze of an enormous monster, its crystalline eye the color of the deep sea and filled with worry
the creature trills quietly, and you scream, scrambling away as fast as your battered body can handle. the beast whines sharply, trying to catch you, to help you, but you only see the talons and how they rake across the air, easily able to pierce through your skin. the commotion is so great that the doctor rushes in, kneeling to help you to your feet. another man- Zhongli, you know him through the fog in your mind- holds the monster back as it whimpers and cries out, reaching for you. Dr. Baizhu gently reassures you, trying to help you back into your bed, but you resist, looking from the Abyssal creature to Baizhu to Zhongli and back again, fear illuminated brightly in your eyes
you lean away from the beast, unable to understand what it wants and why it's here. and Foul Legacy sobs, unable to understand why you look so afraid of him when you loved him so much before

i wasnt going to pull for furina orginally but she came home while i was pulling for charlotte and shes so skrunkly. idk shes v endearing for some reason
honestly i was sold on her as a playable character as soon as i found out each of her hydro manifestations had its own name/title. her attacks are also, like, comically theatrical in a way that makes the fact that she's not doing fuck out there absolutely perfect. she is incredibly skrunkly and everyone should be a furina main methinks.

me whenever i think about how the spa day refresh was over a year and a half ago and EA has probably completely abandoned the idea of giving us any future refreshes when we need them more than we need air, instead deciding to give us basic paywalled recolors

What are written and unwritten rules of Starless?
Written Rules:
Women are not allowed to work at Starless.
No one takes the real names of the cast members, and if you know the real names, you are forbidden from using them.
Leaders cannot take singers' seats, meaning a leader can never be the team's leading singer.
The positions on the team determine the pay; the leaders make the highest income.
Unwritten Rules:
Teams cannot interfere in each other's stages unless it's a versus event. Mizuki and Team B broke this rule twice lol.
Never call Maica a girl unless you want holes in Starless's wall or your face.
Don't try to investigate Black Card unless you want to endanger your life or the life of the investigator.
If you can't understand what Sin is saying, call Takami to translate.
Don't discuss anything confidential in Starless because the walls have ears and cameras.
If Rico is talking badly about you, and you want to make him stop, call Sotetsu.
Only hand technology to Mizuki or Qu if you want the piece of technology destroyed.

i genuinely hope someone vetted the fics and like didnt choose any well written, earnest ones 😭😭😭 fanfic readings are only enjoyable when the fic is so silly that it surpasses the awkwardness
i like.... look we all know i hate smosh pit theater. but dear god i really hate smosh pit fanfic theater. bc no matter what the fic is, to me, there is someone out there who wrote that as a labor of love. they did it with genuine joy in their heart as a dedication to some people they really admire and look up to. no matter what they do chances are somebody's gonna get hurt. it's happened before and it WILL happen again. (does anybody remember when the ko/ah author deleted their whole ao3 account. or when the 'tis i the lesbian at the table' author came out and had to apologize for some godforsaken reason. or am i just a veteran atp.)
the way i write my fics, they would be horrendous to make into scripts (there is so much internal dialogue stored in those bad boys). but if for some insane reason one of my fics was read, i would be absolutely fucking devastated. could you imagine having domo read on screen? i'd simply pack it all up. go home. that's enough internet forever and ever. i literally can't imagine. if i put six months of my life into that fic only for it to be.... mocked and ridiculed? im feeling ill just thinking about it.
i digress. im a hater, i will live and die a hater. idk if yall can Pay me to watch the next spt.

sometimes u just gotta wrestle on the obnoxiously green carpet.....
i've literally just been sitting on this ask bc like.. every time i see it it just vaults me violently back in time to being 18 and like genuinely tussling a little bit with art for the excuse to touch. i KNOW the implied phan floor sex is the mindblowing thing right now but i'm also deeply unwell and emotional about young love where you legitimately wrestle a little bit for an excuse to be all over each other. the rituals aren't even that intricate but i'm still a wreck.
dan and phil have been so all over each other simply because they wanted to be touching for fourteen fucking years. what the fuck

Ever since I read two fics about Bruce's kids being in the tower when it's falling, it's made that scene a million times tastier. Like, in one fic, the kids all lived and helped other people, and Bruce was a terminator trying to get to them and make them leave but they kept helping others to his great pride and anxiety. In one they all died and it fucked me up, particularly when Bruce told Clark after the events if BvS, and holy shit, I was crying like a little baby like that shit just hits different.
Just, grieving dad Bruce, who doesn't have superman and Tim to stop him from killing, trying to avenge all five of his kids like 👀👀👀 it was so good!
Yeah!! Not to get too weird about BVS (again) I think there are some serious parallels between 9/11 and the attack on Metropolis that critics really intentionally overlook -- not just that the destruction is similar, but that Bruce's anger/fear/etc closely parallels the US reaction in the immediate aftermath.
He lost a whole skyscraper of his employees -- people who were supposed to be safe in Metropolis, safer than they would probably be in Gotham. And yes, in certain fics, he loses not just his loyal employees, but his kids, too.
I will be the first one to mock BVS (for a variety of reasons) but the whole "oooh Batman started killing and acting OOC out of nowhere" thing always seemed kind of silly to me.
There's a reason his first adult on-screen introduction in that movie is literally him running into a dust cloud in shirtsleeves and loafers -- it's not about Batman. It's Bruce Wayne lifting beams and dragging children out of harm's way.
The Black Zero Event/Battle of Metropolis likely resulted in the death of thousands of people -- several times the destruction of 9/11, though I'm not sure if anyone ever gave an exact number.
It's strange that an event that is clearly presented to evoke that parallel is taken as a mediocre or misguided motivation for any character, much less Bruce -- who is in a unique position as a vigilante to actually do something, however small, about it.

I have very recently started binding books, and I put it on the back burner for a hot minute, but I just finished reading The Resolute Theatre Presents in one sitting and I want nothing more than to turn it into a physical book because it's so gorgeous and I want to be able to carry it with me to read whenever whereever it was so good and gripping
I cannot possibly describe the way I've just been floating a little bit since I saw this [well— after I stopped crying about it but you get it]
We're actually coming up on the anniversary of Resolute Theater so it's been on my mind a lot lately. Writing this story was an absolute joy and to think that anyone could enjoy it enough to touch it—
Okay, sorry, I'm crying again.
The thought alone is such an honor. If you ever do decide to bind this story I would love to see it.
Thank you so much for your kind words, you put a huge fucking smile on my face, I will be thinking about this for a long time.
x🖤
