it’s about time i did the object of my affections

FIRSTLY i am so undecided on what house they’d be in (i don’t read much hogwarts stuff i prefer aus so it’s not something i really think about tbh) but i like both slytherin and gryffindor dorcas

really close with pandora (ravenclaw together?) it’s a friendship they never excepted and even fought it off at first but pandora was relentless and dorcas is forever grateful for that (think grumpy sunshine friendship)

they never died and lives happily with marlene and a kitten

due to this they have an academic rivalry with lily but they actually both love it and it motivates them to try their hardest even when it seems like a struggle. they soon bond over other things like muggle books and music, forming a real friendship

they became enamoured with marlene on the quidditch pitch, and through spending more time with her fell in love with the fire that burned so brightly in her.

A show came out for a game I've thought about 3-7 times every week for the past nine years and I've been completely normal about it. In my birthday month too! It influenced the playlist cover more than the contents, which are all indulgent as should be for a birthday month playlist. A lot of Carly Rae Jepsen this month, thanks to using her song titles as prompts for Storytelling Collective's April Daily Poem challenge (see results here). Two hours and 33 minutes but despite how I love playing with the length I shan't drop a one of these tracks to get to my birthday-day. Close enough, I say!

'Two of Hearts' was in my mind thanks to a random video I'd encountered about the "I-I-I-I-I" sample in 'Groove Is in the Heart' by Deee-Lite, summarised over at Laughing Squid.

'Harder' was Medusa's I think birthday month track and had been out on Bandcamp for a bit but finally wended its way to Spotify, allowing me to drop it into a playlist. Their music is always a mood. They also have an At-Cost collection of merch specifically to make things available to more folks, with the option to pay it forward as well.

The way things go I think songs from a playlist I picked up from a Fallout: New Vegas fan artist are in May but heck there's a Nancy Sinatra on here so why not share now, 'Atomic Cocktail' is a very long, vibes-based playlist that is great to have going in the background.

my favorite psychedelic rock songs are pretty standard heh, i love tame impala (lonerism and innerspeaker my beloveds!! my fave songs from both albums are endors toi and expectations, respectively!) and unknown mortal orchestra (american guilt and the internet of love from the sex and food album are awesome!!) :]

from grotto is a finnish alt/psychedelic band i got into by learning they helped make the ost of a game i Love, noita (play it btw. pls <3)! i will admit ive listened more to the ost and their more recent singles (the unfolded eye and wildfire Fuck btw) but i do love their sound soooo much, the noita ost is fucking aweeesomeeeeeee i love it!!! i wish i could spend more time appreciating ingame but the game is hard as fuckkk and you can die to all kinds of things immediately if youre not careful or too greedy, so. i die a looot gxbjcfs

pescado rabioso (rabid fish) is one band from the 70s from brazil that i was introduced to that i love in the same genre :0!! the song las habladurias del mundo from the Artaud album is so chill and awesome, and i had no idea the album name was taken from an artist as cool as this?? this is so Neat!

some other stuff ive been listening to is adi oasis, i found her on bandcamp and her music is so chill and beautiful and a mash of soul funk and r&b!! lady lamb, who does indie rock music (i dont think of her as a rock musician though, her stuff is so beautiful and crazy good it makes me cry...... ripely pine album and after album my beloveds!!! you cant make me pick favorites from her stuff ill cry.) and my usual soad/radiohead/pearl jam/qotsa listening :]

What are some of your favorite headcannons on Anne?

Anon, you have great timing, because I just watched some Amphibia with my roommate and her friend >:D

I love headcanoning her as romance-favorable/sex-rupulsed aroace and transfem :D

She has sciatica in her right leg- this is totally projection (because I also have sciatica in my right leg), but it also makes sense because she’s bound to walk a bit funky because of the one shoe, right? And my theory is that I have sciatica because I also walk a bit funky so now Anne has sciatica, too. I gift this to her lovingly.

Other than liking K-Pop, I headcanon that Anne likes indie rock- stuff like Vampire Weekend and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, maybe. I’m basing this off of the vibe of No Big Deal, which she wrote.

She’s literally such a good chef. Maybe even better than her parents/grandfather. If she wasn’t a herpetologist, she’d be a chef.

Speaking of a herpetologist- for her job, she gets a green pickup truck. If the worlds aren’t seperated, she gets one with a bench seat in front so she can fit her entire family. Two humans and a frog up front, and two frogs and a human in back. Frobo can ride in the bed of the truck.

Sprig names it the Frogmobile. Much to Anne’s chagrin, it sticks.

Her first name is actually Annabell but she hates it. She goes by Anne at every opportunity.

She eventually gets her name legally changed to Anne Savisa Boonchuy-Plantar

When she still had her Calamity powers, leaves would actually grow in her hair, due to her powers. This is why her leaves and sticks visibly grow when she uses her powers. If she didn’t lose her powers, she would need someone to help her trim all her plantgrowth. In a world where Earth and Amphibia aren’t separated, the only two people she trusts to actually clip her leaves are her mom and Sprig.

Related, if the worlds were able to stay together, Anne and Sprig would develop a relationship that’s a mash up of best friends/siblings/QPPs. They’re idiots who share one braincell (affectionate).

She can’t keep her right shoe on to save her life. This is a lifelong thing and not just an Amphibia thing.

She uses the Plantar Family Hunting Dance to capture specimens for the aquarium and also to fend off large predator animals.

She can make actual frog noises. Related, Sasha does a terrifying Toad battle cry.

She becomes a lot more acrobatic after Amphibia and actually starts doing a little gymnastics as a hobby after she gets home.

I know it’s canon that she legitimately likes eating bugs, but I’d like to think she starts eating them as snacks at school and work. She, Sasha, and Marcy all gain reputations as the girls who like eating bugs as snacks. Anne will also cook with them and has roped in her parents to liking them, too.

On a slightly angstier note: if we follow the canon ‘verse, Anne finds it really damn hard to sleep alone after she gets back for good. She slept with the other Plantars in the same room for upwards of seven months during a war (they probably had to share a room in the tunnels), so it’s hard to sleep alone, after that. She keeps waking up with the fierce need to check on her frog family. She can’t do that anymore.

She uses her phone a lot less after Amphibia. She really enjoys getting outside and going to the forest and stuff. Swamps are her favorite and she’s actually a pretty decent fisherman, now.

Nobody she knows can rival her greenthumb. She starts a vegetable garden when she gets back from Amphibia.

Anne becomes an accidental internet celebrity after the invasion and she doesn’t even really notice because she uses social media a lot less. She mostly posts pictures and talks about amphibians and her garden.

Not as much as Marcy or Sprig, but Anne is an artist, too. She likes keeping it as a hobby, though.

She writes songs in her spare time and plays them on her guitar.

End of the year wrap;

1. Song of the year?

I have to put grouplove on here, my favorite band. This years album is called ‘i want it all right now’ and i feel like this song encapsulates the new album well. Everytime these amazing people release an album, it literally speaks to me and mirrors the point of life im currently in. This album definitely still did that for me.

2. Album of the year?

Chris Black Changed My Life - Portugal The Man

(Saw them live at the hollywood bowl this year and it was amazing but not only that, this album was very emotional for me. Its about his struggle with losing his friend (chris black) and dealing with his daughters terminal illness. The song ‘Time Is A Fantasy’ literally always makes me cry. I know if my dad was still alive, he would love this album)

3. Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year?

Probably unknown mortal orchestra. I have been listening to their song ‘honeybee’ for a couple years but i really got into them this year with this new song;

4. Movie of the year?

For me- Beetle Juice. I had never seen it, i finally watched it, it was an amazing movie that held up. Still great. Also honorary mention: Little Shop of Horrors for the same reason.

On one hand it feels lame to say i just watched these two amazing movies for the first time only this year— but on the other hand i would do anything to feel the way i first felt watching my favorite things, so i got to do that naturally with some peoples favorite movies.

(Idk if i even watched a 2023 movie this year damn. Edit: its barbie. I watched barbie. Thats the only 2023 movie i saw and definitely wasnt my favorite- but it was good)

5. TV show of the year?

Hmm… new? Last Of Us. So good.

But my favorite this year? For some reason i want to say What We Do In The Shadows. Even though i thought the last season was kinda disappointing, i had never seen the show so we started watching it at the beginning of this year and it was so good.

I wish in the future there are smaller festivals for international artists because megafestivals like Lollapalooza or Primavera Sound are incredibly expensive for people who like only a few bands that won't play in other venues. I know it's pretty impossible bc of monopoly and capitalism and our economy being so fragile, also it's a huge risk for artists to go on tour anywhere.

for the time being, I'm very happy I took one of my friends' advice and went to see more local music. if you are a music fan, I'm sure you'll enjoy going to local venues and finding out some new music. always support local artists!

he's an avid enjoyer of literature and art, thought he wouldn't consider himself a creative. he also indulges in parts of STEM [and excels at it due to his superior intellect] and just generally takes interest in anything that could stimulate his brain. he's a knowledge freak.

obsidian black, mahogany brown, burgundy red, and a little purple at times. these colors invoke a feeling of dark sensuality, the pinnacle of his character actually. ☝🏿
