Psyched bout my early Birthday gift to myself - been wanting a pair of comfy, lightweight, state-of-the-art over-ear noise cancelling cans for travel & other activities. After a wide search I pulled the trigger on the @sony WH-1000XM4 (replaced the industry leading XM3). Their isolation is first-rate, utilizing 5 microphones for noise cancellation. They’re also light as a feather and so cush & comfy. The Sony Connect app allows for a ridiculous level of customization (in a good way😜) on everything from EQ to noise cancellation. I’m also very impressed with Sony’s DSEE technology thus far (their own de-compression scheme - many companies claim their tech can extract some of the original sonics lost through compression). While I don’t believe you can grab information back that’s been lost - the DSEE does help render a seemingly more detailed and dynamically engaging sonic experience than listening without it. I’m also stunned by the full Sony 360 Audio experience! Especially after optimizing the cans for @tidal & #ArtistConnection. Plus any chance to hear music using @mqa_sound is a MUST! Very happy so far & at this point I’d recommend these in a heartbeat. The upper mids do seem rolled off a bit, but luckily the EQ makes that easy to fix.
