Tumblr media
“Keep your hand steady.” – Daryl said as his fingers trailed over yours. You were looking at him as he noticed it. With a gentle nudge against your chin, he turned your head. – “Eyes forwards.” – he stated. You nodded willingly trying to supress a smile. You kept your focus to the front as Daryl’s hand went under yours, supporting the gun in your hand.
He neared as you felt his body close in on you. His cheek close to yours. He moved his hand to the top of the gun. – “Try looking for a steady aim.” – he informed you. His hand let go of the gun, pointing at the overly big target up ahead. Seeing how it had set it up made you snort loud. – “What?” – Daryl asked confused with furrowed brows.
You lowered the gun, turning more towards him as you had to break it to him. – “Oh Daryl.” – you began with a breathless laugh. – “What?” – Daryl repeated. You swayed your arm over his shoulder pulling him closer to you. – “My brother is a cop. I know how to shoot sweetheart.” – you confessed with a dazzling smile. – “I mean was…” – you corrected yourself letting your arm fall from around him. – “How come you don’t have a gun?” – Daryl questioned loudly. Finding it very odd. You could’ve easily been an asset in keeping walkers at bay.
You took a deep sigh. – “Well you know Shane. He doesn’t like me holding a gun.” – you told him. Daryl took a deep annoyed sigh. – “But you can always teach me if you like?” – you proposed having rested your hand on his chest. – “It’s no fun now.” – Daryl answered bothered. You grabbed him by his shirt, pulling him nose to nose with you. – “We can always make it fun.” – you replied teasingly. Daryl grabbed your face, pushing your head a bit back.
“Why don’t you show me how you shoot. Sweetheart.” – he added teasingly. Before you could utter another word he spun you around. Pushing you a bit forwards by a push on your bottom. Looking over your shoulder, you gave him a soft glare. Daryl leaned back, chuckling. – “I need to know you’ve got my back.” – he said jokingly. You turned back raising the gun. Bang. Bang. Bang. Three shots were fired in the bag.
You stepped aside to show Daryl. Daryl looked surprised seeing how you had shot the three bullets in a way they looked like a triangle shape was matched in the bag. – “Do I get a reward now?” – you questioned. – “Not bad.” – Daryl responded nearing you. Playfully you shoved Daryl away acting as if it annoyed you. Daryl chuckled grabbing you from behind. Wrapping his arms around you.
His body pressed against your back as his head rested on your shoulder. – “I expect a higher praise from you.” – you said chuckling. Daryl left a tender kiss on your shoulder. – “Or you could continue that.” – you said making Daryl lift his head up with a smirk. He left another tender kiss on your shoulder. Following on to kiss your neck tenderly. Kissing his way up as you tilted your head to the side.
You turned around tapping your lips invitingly. Daryl quirked his eyebrow up. – “Now you are over-doing it Y/n.” – he said turning his head away. You could only stare at him shockingly. Daryl’s lips curled up into a smile as he grabbed a hold of you, kissing you full on the lips.
Daryl and you parted as he nudged you to walk. The two of you made you way back to the others. – “What’s Shane’s deal with you anyways?” – he asked. – “You tell me! I have no idea why he is being such an ass towards me.” – you explained half shouting out the words. – “I hate how he acts towards Carl.” – you continued. – “Like he never had a dad? Honestly Shane is a mystery to me. It’s not like I knew him very well before all this, but now… it seems like he is meddling a bit too much in my family’s life.” – you told Daryl who was listening tentatively.
You sighed loud. Daryl and you emerged from the woods coming back to camp. Dale stood on the caravan, waving at Daryl. – “Duty calls.” – Daryl said to you. You watched him go all smiling. Then you gasped loud feeling the gun being pulled aggressively out of your hands.
“Where did you steal this?” – Shane called out holding the gun up. You had turned around in shock, startled by his sudden closeness to you. – “I didn’t…” – you answered still half in shock. – “Don’t lie to me! You stole this bloody gun. Do you think you are brave enough to shoot it?” – he mocked causing a scene. Noticing how everyone at camp was looking your way. – “You think this is a kid’s toy?” – Shane called out waving the gun around. - “Shane!” – Lori snapped at him, eyeing the curious eyes around him and you.
Shane looked all smug. – “If you want to play guns, we’ll play guns Y/n!” – he grabbed you by the back of your neck, pushing your head down. – “Auntie Y/n!” – Carl shouted out as Lori held him back. – “No Carl! She needs to taught a lesson.” – Shane shouted at him. – “Shane!” – you cried out in agony trying to get his grip off you. Shane saw Daryl storm over, making him aim the gun at him.
“No more protecting her.” – he told him clear. Daryl stopped with a glare. – “I didn’t steal it!” – you called out trying to reason with him. – “Liar!” – Shane yelled at you, pulling a bit at your hair. – “Shane let her go.” – Carol said calmly. – “Shane… Shane…” – Carol kept trying to ask for his attention wanting to tone his temper down.
“Look at Carl.” – she said gesturing at Carl. Shane turned his head seeing how Lori held Carl tight. His cheeks stained with tears. His lips pouting as it hurt his little heart to see Shane hurt you like that. – “Please…” – Carol begged. Shane inhaled deeply through his nose. Suddenly aiming the gun at your head. – “No!” – Carl cried out leaping forwards as Lori had to hold him tighter. Daryl wanted to rush over as Shane stopped him.
“I’ll fire if you come near Dixon!” – he shouted making Daryl stop mid-track. – “Shane put the gun down!” – Lori said loudly hoping she could talk him out of it. You were panting, feeling the tip of the gun press against the back of your head. Bend over you felt your blood go for your head. Shane’s hand still on your neck. – “Not so talkative are we now?” – Shane said to you. Carl was crying his eyes out.
“Are… are you really going to shoot me in front of Carl?” – you breathed out. Daryl tried taking a step closer but Shane was on to him. It made Daryl clench his jaw. – “Shane!” – Lori snapped at him. Shane looked up to her seeing how angry she was looking at him. He started to chuckle slowly removing the gun from against your head. – “I was just playing.” – he said holding the gun up.
The moment you didn’t feel his grip on you anymore, you ran off. Tears in your eyes as this was too much. Shane had crossed a line. Hard. – “Y/n!” – Daryl called out running after you. Lori let go of Carl walking over to Shane. – “It was just a joke.” – he told her chuckling. Lori slapped him across the face. – “A damn cruel one!” – she answered angry. You kept running tears running down your cheek. Never did you think Shane was capable of actually holding a gun up to your head.
The seriousness in his voice frightened you. For a moment you really did think he was going to shoot you in front of everyone. – “Y/n!” – Daryl panted out having come after you. He had followed you into the woods. You weren’t listening to him, wondering off too far. – “Y/n!” – Daryl repeated loud quickening up his pace. The tears were running down your face making you sob breathlessly.  You called it out when two arms wrapped around you.
Stopping your mindless running. – “Y/n! Y/n stop.” – Daryl said holding you tight as you tried freeing yourself from him. Sobbing loud you eased down feeling worn out. The energy left your body making you sunk through your knees. Daryl went down with you, keeping you in his arms. Turning your face a bit, you pressed it against his arm, crying your eyes out.
He comforted you, remaining silent as he knew cursing at Shane wouldn’t do you any good now. It took you a lot of effort to get back to camp. You didn’t want to be there knowing Shane was there. Also the fact that everyone had seen it made it even more uncomfortable. You decided to go to the lake sitting by the water.
“Auntie Y/n!” – Carl cried out making you turn your head. He came running over as you got up. His body slammed against yours, arms going round you. He was sobbing loud as you soothed him. – “I’m okay Carl.” – you told him, knowing how frightened he must have been. Carl hugged you tighter, pressing his cheek against your stomach. That night slept Carl in your tent. Partly because you didn’t want to be alone and because he wanted to protect you.
The next morning you all got startled at Glenn honking loud. He had been out for a run, only having returned now. Glenn got out of the car all happy and relieved. Everyone made their way over to him to greet him as it had been a few days since they saw him. You kept your distance a bit, gulping when you noticed Shane coming to stand beside you. – “One day there will be no one around to protect you.” – he said to you. It made you swallow frightened. – “What is your deal against me Shane?” – you asked boldly having enough of his power plays.
He turned his posture more to you taking a deep breath. – “Your attitude!” – he made clear. – “My attitude?” – you repeated confused. You turned more to Shane as well, standing in front of him. You stared at him feeling there was more to it. – “Do… do you feel threatened by me?” – you asked him. Shane laughed mockingly. – “You are NOTHING to me!” – he made clear with a deadly stare. Agitated you wanted to shove him. Shane grabbed a hold of your wrist, twisting it to the side.
“Shane?” – both of you heard clear. It made the two of you look to the side. Your eyes widening. – “Rick?” – you gasped out in shock. Carl was clinging onto him. His other arm around Lori. – “Y/n!” – Rick said relieved as he removed himself from Lori and Carl. Shane let go of your arm aggressively. Rick had seen it making him go up to Shane. – “Why were your hands on my sister?” – he asked calmly but with a soft glare.
Shane puffed loud walking off. Rick stood stunned and baffled at Shane’s behaviour. – “Rick?” – you said again touching his shoulder. Touching him made it all real. Rick turned to you with a relieved smile. The two of you embraced strongly. – “I thought you were dead.” – you told him. – “So did I.” – he answered.
He pulled away touching your face. – “How I am glad to see you alive and well sister.” – he told you making you smile between your tears. A surprise touch made you squeal soft. Carl having wrapped his arms around the both of you. – “Now we are a family again.” – he said happily. – “Yeah we are.” – Rick answered rubbing his hand through his hair. Lori glanced over to Shane seeing how jealous he looked. He brushed it off by walking off the minute he saw the meaning of Lori’s eyes.

Rick and his group had been at your family farm for a few weeks now and god has he plagued your mind, he was the hottest man you’ve ever seen, especially when he’s been working outside all day and his skin is glistening it does something to you, but what irks you is his wife…..Lori, you’ve witnessed their fights and he deserved so much better and you were willing to give that
They group were out by their camp while you and your sisters were making breakfast, you heard the door open and in walked the man you’ve been thinking about, his walk over was damn near hypnotizing
“Sweetie?” He asked breaking my you out of your trance, you looked up at his piercing blue eyes and felt yourself become weak
“Yes Rick, is there something you need?” You asked nervous, you’ve only had a few conversations but it still didn’t ease your nerves
“Wondering if you wanna come on a trip to that town near here with me, look for some supplies” you looked over at Beth and Maggie and they were smiling at you knowing your feelings for the sheriff
“Oh…sure when are we leaving?”
“Now while the suns up”
“Okay I’ll go get the horses ready” you smiled excited as you both left the house, he went to get ready as you saddled up the horses
You pulled yourself up in your horse as you held on the the rope of the other and made your way over to a waiting Rick, he had his black button up shirt on, his sleeves pushed up showing his muscular forearms with its prominent veins that made you weak in the knees but you had to try and focus
Rick hoped up onto the horse and looked you over his eyes lingering on your legs, it was a hot Georgia day so you were wear short shorts and a tight tank top
“You ready to go sheriff?” You asked shaking him out of his gaze
He cleared his throat and nodded as you both started to trot off on the horses
“So how’ve you been Rick? You seem stressed” you knew the others of the group really relied on him and put a lot of pressure on his conscience
“Nothing I can’t handle darlin” he smirked
“Of course not, but are you sure you don’t need a stress reliever?” You asked leaning forward a bit looking at him with a boost of confidence, the heat finally getting to you
“What kind of stress relieving are ya thinking about darlin?” He asked looking at you with this look you’ve never seen before even with all the weeks he’s been at your farm
“Anything you want sheriff” you said biting your lip as you finally got to the town, hoping off the horse as you tied her to a post, walking into a pharmacy as Rick quickly followed you
You felt his big hands sneak behind you gripping your waist, sliding down so his fingers were tugging at the hem of your shorts
“Mmm you must been really stressed, what? Your wife can’t help you out?” You asked teasing as you looked up behind you at him as he towered over you
“Can’t look at her like that anymore, not when a sexy thing like you is walking around, these little shorts of yours keep me up at night, thinking of of you tight body as you work in the sun, god I want you darlin” he groaned in your ear feeling him press up against you
“Well good thing for you, I’m here for you to do anything you want, use me Rick” you whined as his hand slipped further down into your shorts
Let’s just say he had a lot of stress to work out on and your body was the perfect relief for him to use…..for hours

The sourness gathered in your jaws, and cold sweat soaked your tank top. You realized you were almost throwing up because of the anxiety overwhelming you. Barely hearing a familiar voice calling your name, as it was ringing in your ears, you ran several feet, stopping near one of the trees and vomiting. Daryl came up to you, seeing your pathetic state.
“Are ya okay?” the archer’s voice sounded concerned. You breathed heavily, shaking your head.
“What’s goin' on with ya?” the man couldn’t stop but continued asking, hoping he could help you somehow.
“Nothing,” you replied, not wishing him to be immersed in your problems. He’s a great buddy but not a friend to spill everything on.
“Merle’s on a run tomorrow. Should he bring a pregnancy test?” Daryl shifted from one leg to another and started to chew his fingers. Every body movement showed how he was nervous and regretting what he’d just said. He understood it wasn’t his business, and this probably would make you push him away.
“Who taught you manners, Dixon?” you spat the remaining bitterness out of your mouth.
“Ya’ve been looking like shit for a fortnight,” the man bit his lower lip. “Being pale, crying, now throwing up. Thought ya…”
“I’m not pregnant, Daryl. Just a rebound effect and anxiety,” you straightened up, wiping your mouth with your forearm, and went past the embarrassed archer, getting back to the place you had been sitting the whole day.
“Wanna talk 'bout it?” he stood behind your back, keeping his distance, ready to leave you alone.
“Dunno,” you closed your face with your palms. “Just not sure you want to hear complaints from a stranger,” you sobbed as your own words hit your weak point: your fear of loneliness you’d been through this time.
“I’m not good at labels, but ya’re not a stranger to me, Y/N,” Daryl stood for a while, then decided to walk away before he heard your “okay.” He slowly came back to you to sit beside you silently, as if you were an animal he was hunting for, and any noise could scare you.
“So, if ya don’ need a test, then could he find medicines for ya?” Daryl turned his face to you, hoping to see yours.
“Thanks, ain’t no need,” you faced him with a sad smile. “I’m afraid it’ll do worse. I just need time, and this will go away. At least I hope so.”
You both looked into each other's eyes, sitting silent for a moment.
“Who hurt ya?” Daryl’s low, raspy voice sounded soothing, and his blue eyes still pierced yours.
“A lot of things and people,” you gasped, looking somewhere away. “I lost my parents a year ago, which led to depression. My boyfriend couldn’t bear it anymore and broke up with me half a year later,” your tears spilled, recalling Shane and Lori in the forest, then thought about Rick who would be there, and nothing similar would have happened. “I lost my best friend, almost my brother, right before the outbreak. I…” your voice cracked, “I’m so fucking tired, Daryl,” his heart flipped seeing your face grimace because of the pain you were suffering from. To his own surprise, he hugged you, gripping you by your shoulder and stroking it a bit clumsily but gently. You laid your head on his chest, which made Daryl tense his muscles for a moment, but he overcame the tension and relaxed. “I will not make it. I can’t. I’m fed up with everything. I did have hope I could overcome, but… I’ve seen something today I shouldn’t have to,” you silenced for a moment, not sure if you want to continue talking about it.
“I’ll hold any secret of yours if this is an issue,” Daryl’s voice became almost a whisper, while he didn’t stop comforting you, which he himself found so natural though still strange.
“I found my ex fucking with my best friend’s wife… Widow.” your lower lip quivered in pain, and your eyes stung with the new wave of tears.
Daryl frowned as he figured out who you were talking about. “Shane? Your ex?”
The man felt your nod and the warmth of the tears dropping on his shirt.
“He’s a dickhead and doesn’t deserve your tears,” Daryl’s hand gently squeezed your bicep, slightly gripping you closer to him. The archer was shocked by his own words and body movements as if he was not in control of himself. Everything wasn’t typical for him though he instinctively wanted to make you feel, if not fine, then a bit relaxed. You reminded him of a small kitten curled up in his big palms, shivering and crying. Such a small and fragile creature that needed protection.
“Thank you,” your whisper completely melted Daryl’s heart.
You were sitting silently for several minutes which seemed like an eternity. There was only him, and you were caged in his warm hug, sitting on the ground and hearing cricket sounds. This was enough for you to finally calm down. His body warmth and his natural scent mixed with tobacco and hand strokes were so soothing that it made you feel safe. You closed your eyes, relaxing into his hug.
“Talking about Merle. Could I ask him to find me a tent then?” you asked in a sleepy voice.
Daryl nodded. “Mhm. I’ll ask. And ya can sleep in mine today if ya want. I’ll be at Merle’s,” the archer’s low voice vibrating in his chest where your head was leaning made you feel dizzy.
“Thank you, Daryl,” you raised your head, aligning too closely with the man’s face, as his brain didn’t work out to lose the hug quickly. You met his crystal blue eyes, and his hot breath near your lips. Daryl, feeling butterflies in his stomach, forced his arm to loosen the hug so the awkwardly small distance became longer.
“Ya need ta eat and sleep, Y/N,” Daryl stood up on his feet and offered you his hand. You laid your arm in his and stood up clumsily, almost losing your balance. Daryl held you by your bicep. “That’s what I’m saying.”
“I’ll eat tomorrow, want just to sleep,” Daryl nodded, and you both walked towards the camp.
“Daryl,” you gently grabbed his hand, making him look at you.
“Wha’?”
“Can we get around the camp?” you looked up at him sheepishly, leaving his arm. “I don't wanna see either Shane or Lori now,” Daryl nodded in response, and you walked in another direction.
When you approached the archer’s tent, Daryl kneeled and unzipped it to take a blanket and make sure it would be cozy enough for you to sleep.
“Here it is,” the archer stood for a moment looking at you, waiting for you to get inside the tent.
“Thank you,” you replied in a sheepish voice.
“Stop it, please, ‘s nothin’,” Daryl felt uncomfortable as you were too thankful for such simple things, as he thought. In reality, he hadn’t just gotten used to it as no one had ever said these words to him.
“Good night,” Daryl whispered gently.
“Good night, Daryl,” you smiled at him and got inside the tent.
You woke up quite early when the sunlight was only showing on the horizon. The morning was quite cold because of the forest and water nearby. The air was so humid that it was hard to breathe in.
You covered yourself with a blanket and headed to Lori and Carl’s tent to grab your bag where your essentials were. You made it successfully without much noise and headed back. You put your bag on the ground and went nearby to find some wood and stones to set a small fire.
After the preparations, you took the jezve out of the bag with a coffee package and a bottle of water left from the previous brewing. Should be enough for two. You put some coffee in a jezve, poured some water, and put it on the fire.
When the coffee was brewing, you had a look at the camp which was still sleepy. You heard the sound of footsteps on the dry leaves and turned around to see Daryl walking out of the forest. You met his gaze, which made you smile gently. He was coming up to you, biting his lower lip and holding a flower in his right hand.
“Good morning, Daryl,” you said silently and put out two small cups to pour the coffee.
“Morning,” he sat in front of you with a grumpy face as he was too nervous and gave you the flower. “Sorry for being an asshole, Y/N.”
You chuckled and took the flower, tucking it behind your ear and giving him a cup in turn. “That’s okay, Daryl,” you replied, blushing, as he was so freaking cute, and it made you smile wider.
Daryl held the cup and wasn’t quite brave enough to look up at you. “Didn’t know I deserved this,” his gaze still somewhere on the ground.
“You are always welcome here until supplies stop,” Daryl finally looked at you, seeing you smiling. He blushed a bit and chuckled in response. You both felt so calm and relaxed.
“Morning little birdies,” Merle’s voice hit you both. You saw him going out of the tent, stretching his muscles after the night's sleep.
“Morning. Coffee?” you replied calmly, smiling while noticing how Daryl’s expression changed, the reason of which you didn’t get.
“Nah, thanks,” Merle replied to you and grinned at his brother, messing up his hair. Daryl jerked at the touch. “Got some business today. Looking for a tent for some stunning lady. But it can be unnecessary till she lets me know she could stay in mine before I go,” the man winked at you before you choked on the coffee.
“Merle,” Daryl almost growled at his brother.
“Wha’? If yer a pussy who cannot stay with a hottie in a tent, god knows I won’t miss the chance.”
“Merle,” the archer’s voice started having furious tones.
“Jus’ kiddin’ lil brother, keep calm,” Merle patted Daryl’s shoulder. “But if you change your mind…” the man paid attention to you still coughing.
“Almost died,” you cleared your throat, wiping the tears. “You’d better invite me for a date first,” you exhaled, hoping the spasms relieved. Merle sighed and walked up to you.
“If the younger wastes time, I promise, ‘ll do this,” the man took your hand and pecked it, looking into your eyes. “Have a good one, princess.”
You were watching Merle go away and then looked at Daryl, who was looking on the ground, already holding a cigarette and fidgeting his fingers.
“Daryl, are you okay?” you asked the man whose mood changed drastically compared to what he had before. The archer simply nodded and stood up.
“I’ll be tomorrow, want ta check another perimeter further from ‘ere. Maybe I‘ll find somethin’,” he mumbled, taking his crossbow.
“Take care, Daryl,” he looked at you, admiring you sitting in his blanket with the flower tucked behind the ear. Your eyes pierced his with an exhausted look. The archer nodded, biting the inside of his cheek, and walked away.
You were helping Carol in the kitchen. The woman couldn’t hide her happiness seeing you around, telling how nervous she was. You were just shyly chuckling in response, also feeling awkward as Shane and Lori were passing by you time after time. Sometimes Carl was trying to talk to you, showing you the pictures he drew with Sofia, and you were happy to talk to him, but Lori always called him, finding a new reason every time.
“Is it me or she doesn’t want you to communicate?” Carol asked silently, standing beside you to cut a few vegetables.
“You’re right,” you replied, glancing at the woman who was sitting near Carl, who was reading out loud.
Your attention was caught by a new sports car that arrived at the camp, making so much noise. Shane already ran up to the car, seeing it was Glenn, happy like a kid finding a new toy.
Then a van arrived at the camp. People around seemed cautious until they saw your group going out. You smiled with relief.
“Carol, I’ll be later. Maybe my new tent has arrived,” the woman nodded to you, and you went to the van almost running. Reaching out to the side of the driver's seat, you saw Merle was missing.
“Where’s Merle?” your voice got an anxious tone, your eyes roaming between people to find the answer when suddenly you saw another man wearing a sheriff's uniform going out of the car. “No way,” the air was caught in your throat as if you forgot how to breathe. “Rick!” you whispered.
“Y/N,” the man’s hoarse voice hit you, causing tears of happiness. You jumped into his embrace, caging him in your arms. Here he is, safe and alive as if nothing had happened before.
“I thought I’d never see you again,” your voice is trembling because of the tears washing your face. The man tugged you closer, his hand on the back of your head.
“I can’t believe it,” he whispered and turned his head to see if there are Lori and Carl when you felt his heart started almost jumping out of his body. You relieved the hug and saw Rick going towards Carl, already running to him. Shane standing near the sports car turned pale.
“Where’s Merle?” you repeated the question, seeing T-Dog and Andrea hesitating to answer.
“There was a problem in Atlanta. We needed to cuff him. He was behaving dangerously,” T-Dog mumbled, wiping the sweat appearing on his forehead.
“What?” you silenced. “How could you..?” You couldn’t find any words, feeling the emotions boiling in your chest.
“We didn’t have a choice,” Andrea’s voice caught your attention.
“What the hell does it even mean?”
Your blurred vision started to be clear when you saw yourself already screaming at Glenn, asking him to give you keys.
“Y/N,” Rick was coming up to you, “What’s the problem?”
“You cuffed a person in the city full of walkers, are you serious?” you were quickly cut off by Shane chuckling.
“Rick, don’t pay attention. She’s just hanging out with him and his brother.”
“Mind your own business, Shane,” you barked in response.
“Rick, should we cuff her as well? She absolutely went nuts without her pills,” you made several running steps toward Shane when felt Rick’s hands gripping you tightly.
“What did you just say?” you yelled at the man, trying to free yourself from Rick.
“One fool makes many. Ah, no, two fools.”
“Hey, hollyrolly, which part of 'Mind your own business' didn’t you get?” you barked in response to Shane, whose facial expression turned furious.
“Shut up, you both!” Rick shouted, “Y/N, let me explain,” the sheriff cupped your face so that you could see him and listen.

"well I can see you."
What did that even mean?
Was he trying to flirt with me?
Surely not!
Although all of me wished that was the case, it couldn't be.
Could it?
I spent the rest of the night, well in to the next morning thinking about his words. I heard a light knocking on my door breaking me from my spiraling thoughts. Jared opens the door, crashing on my bed. I take my hand running it through his shaggy hair, it was something that always calmed him.
"what's up?" I asked him as he sighed.
"just tired, and a little nervous to start filming today." He admitted.
"don't be nervous, you'll be great, you always are." I smiled.
"I'm kind of glad you're coming with."
"kind of?" I scoffed in mock hurt.
"you know what I mean you brat." Jared said shoving my hand away from his hair.
"if anyone is a brat here it's you moose." I teased.
"just shut up and get dressed, we have to leave in a hour."
"you cut me deep moose." I joked.
Jared rolled his eyes before standing up and walking towards the door.
"uh one more thing, just uh stick with me and Jensen today, don't go wandering off like you do." Jared said, referring to my disappearing act last night at the party.
Jensen.
At the mention of his name, the events from last night, his words, it all came flooding back. I bit my lip, once again starting my spiral of overthinking.
"did you hear me?" Jared asked.
I rolled my eyes at him. He could be really annoyingly overprotective sometimes. I reluctantly shook my head in agreement.
"now get out of here!" I groaned throwing a pillow at him.
Jared dodged it easily, laughing before departing from my room.
I quickly got up throwing on some jeans and a t-shirt that read I ❤️Dean Winchester. I got it simply because I knew it would make Jared mad, and as his little sister I had a duty to annoy him as much as possible.
I ran a hand through my hair before descending down the stairs. Jared and Jensen sat in the kitchen, hunched over bowls of cereal. Jared was the first one to look up.
"what are you wearing?" He asked rolling his eyes, causing Jensen to look up too.
I could see the grin spread to Jensen's face.
"I for one love it." He smirked.
Jared rolled his eyes again.
"I can't wear your merch, that'd be weird, besides everyone knows Dean is the superior Winchester." I laughed grabbing the cereal box and dumping some in to my open mouth.
"she's got a point." Jensen said grabbing the cereal box from my hands to pour me a bowl.
"I hate you both." Jared grumbled, getting up to put his bowl in the sink.
I could feel an awkward tension settle between me and Jensen as Jared left the room. It was the first time where I had no clue what to say to him. It seemed like he was struggling with the same thing.
"about last night.." Jensen started but I cut him off.
"what about it?"
"I uh probably shouldn't have said that.." He said rubbing his neck nervously.
Ouch.
It was silly of me to think he meant anything by it.
"oh, okay." I whispered, trying my best to hide the disappointment in my voice.
Jensen breathed a sigh, standing up and walking over to the sink to deposit his bowl. He turns around quickly glancing at me.
"I meant it, I just probably shouldn't have said it."
I was dumbfounded as I watched him leave the kitchen.
I let out a shaky breath I didn't realize I was holding. I couldn't stop the smile that spread to my face.
Holy Shit.
It was definitely him being flirty.
Why else would he say he shouldn't have said it?
He didn't want Jared to know he was flirting with his little sister.
Okay, maybe I was getting a little too ahead of myself.
I scarfed down the rest of my cereal quickly joining the boys in the car. I kept sneaking glances at Jensen but he never returned them. It was like when other people were around, I was just Jared's annoying little sister, but when we were alone he was different.
I was feeling excited when we got to set. Jared and Jensen immediately went to wardrobe and makeup, dragging me along. I didn't realize just how much went into getting ready for shooting. As soon as they were ready they were whisked away to start filming. I stayed close, just like I had promised. I didn't mind though, it was cool to see Jensen and Jared take on a different persona and become Sam and Dean Winchester.
I giggled as Jensen broke character, yelling at Jared for messing up his lines.
"be nice to him!" I yelled from the sidelines.
Jared gave me a look as if telling me to shut up. I smirked before standing up and stretching my muscles. It felt like we've been here for hours already. I know I promised to stick close, but I really needed to find a bathroom.
I slipped away quietly, walking around the massive studio. I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket. I pulled it out, bringing it to life. It was a text from mom asking how Jared was doing. I rolled my eyes typing back a reply. It seems it didn't matter how I was doing, like usual.
I was too busy looking at my phone that I didn't see the body in front of me until I was crashing in to it.
"shit, are you okay?"
I looked up to see a really handsome guy, he looked to be around the same age as me.
"uh yeah, that was totally my fault." I said taking his extended hand so he could help me to my feet.
"are you uh a Jensen fan?" He asked pointing to my shirt with a laugh.
"I'm uh, Jared, uh Sam's sister, I got it mainly to make him mad." I said awkwardly.
I wasn't the kind of girl who was experienced with talking to guys, especially handsome ones.
"Well Jared Sam's sister it's nice to meet you I'm Jeremiah, I'm an extra for the first two episodes." He teased.
"It's nice to meet you too extra Jeremiah." I teased back surprising myself.
He laughed, making me blush.
"It's uh (y/n)." I said with a smile.
"(y/n), nice name for a nice personality." Jeremiah said making me blush even harder.
I wasn't use to men complimenting me.
"thank you." I replied shyly.
"well uh, I should get going, I'm supposed to be in the makeup trailer." He smiled offering me a small wave.
"Jeremiah." I called causing him to turn around.
"could you uh, maybe point me towards a bathroom?" I asked with a laugh.
"I'll do you one better, follow me."
I started to walk next to Jeremiah, taking a moment to get a good look at him. He had the prettiest blue eyes, a vast contrast from Jensen's green ones. He was naturally tan, with muscles protruding from his shirt.
"I get it, it can get a little crazy on set, hard to find things." Jeremiah spoke, breaking the silence.
"yeah I don't know how you guys do it." I admitted looking at where we were.
I was indeed going the complete opposite direction of the bathroom.
"yeah and I'm just an extra." He said sounding a little bummed.
I grabbed his hand giving it a comforting squeeze.
"Jeremiah don't worry you'll get your big break soon enough, Jared thought he was going to be working odd jobs forever and now look at him." I comforted.
"you're really cool, you know that?" Jeremiah said turning towards me with a smile.
I felt the blush spreading to my cheeks once again.
"you're really cool too." I smiled.
"uh here we are." Jeremiah says gesturing to a door.
"thanks." I said offering him another genuine smile.
"see you around Jared Sam's sister." He said with a wink.
"see you around extra Jeremiah."
I couldn't fight the smile on my face. It was nice to be noticed by someone. I quickly used the restroom, before skipping happily back to set where the boys stood.
"what's got you so smiley?" Jensen asked as he took a seat beside me.
"oh nothing." I said trying to shrug it off.
"no come on, just tell me." Jensen said bumping me with his elbow.
I took a deep breath. I could tell Jensen wasn't going to give it up.
"Jeremiah, he's uh one of the extras on set, he's nice." I shrugged as if it weren't a big deal.
I thought for a second I saw a flash of disappointment on Jensen's face.
"nice is he?" Jensen asked leaning back in the chair.
"yes, he was nice." I said bumping him with my elbow.
"just be careful, nice guys are the ones you have to watch out for." Jensen said.
"are you giving me relationship advice?" I asked with a giggle.
"just want you to be careful baby moose."
I rolled my eyes at his nickname.
"can you please stop calling me that, I just want to be called by my actual name." I grumbled making Jensen smirk.
Jensen stood up, leaning in to whisper in my ear.
"nah, you'll always be my baby moose."
I couldn't fight the blush that spread to my cheeks as I watched him walk back to set, ready to film the next scene.
my baby moose.
Holy Shit.
I settled back in the chair trying to calm my breathing as I watched the next scene. I saw Jeremiah walk on to screen, reciting his lines. He caught my eye offering me a smile. I offered him one back, catching Jensen's attention.
"and that's a wrap." I heard the director yell off screen.
I stood up ready to greet Jared. I was surprised to see Jeremiah walking over to me.
"Hi." He said with a grin.
"Hi Jeremiah, you were great out there." I said offering him a smile.
"Thanks, I uh came over to see if maybe you wanted to go get coffee with me?" Jeremiah asked with a hopeful smile on his face.
Woah.
He was asking me on a date?
I glanced past him to see Jensen talking with a female coworker. He was laughing and putting a hand on her arm.
I realized that Jensen would never like me the way I liked him.
"I would love to go for coffee with you Jeremiah." I said loud enough so Jensen could hear.
"great, uh let me go change and then we can go." Jeremiah said before rushing off.
I smiled as I watched him leave.
"ready to go?" Jared asked returning from his trailer.
"actually she has a date tonight." Jensen said before I could.
I glared at him.
"a date? who with?" Jared questioned.
"Jeremiah, the extra." Jensen answered again scoffing as he said extra.
"so what if he's an extra, he's nice, and he likes me." I said, glaring directly at Jensen.
"I didn't say there was anything wrong with being an extra." Jensen defended.
"yeah well you sure seem like you have a problem." I growled.
"Jared and I don't want you to get hurt is all." Jensen shot back.
"I think the both of you should just let me make my own decisions." I yelled.
Jensen was about to respond, but Jeremiah was walking over to us again.
"I uh know this great coffee shop, you ready to go?" He asked nervously looking at Jared and Jensen.
"I am, I'll see you both later." I said glaring at both boys, but mostly Jensen.
Who did he think he was?
He acts one way when we're around everyone else and another when we're in private. It was confusing and frustrating. It was like he was ashamed to be with me. I deserved to have someone who was happy to be around me, happy to be seen with me.
Jensen
I watched her walk away, slipping her hand in his.
I could feel the jealously burning in my chest.
I shouldn't be jealous, I know that.
I can't help it.
I thought I made it clear that I was interested, but I guess I hadn't made it clear enough.
"dude, what's up with you?" Jared asked looking at me.
"nothing, I just don't want baby moose to get taken advantage of by some guy we don't even know." I said trying to hide what I was actually feeling.
"I mean yeah but he seems harmless enough." Jared shrugs.
I think that was the problem.
He seemed like a good guy. A guy that could treat her how she deserved to be treated. A guy that Jared approved of.
"I guess so." I answered.
"I'm beat, you ready to go home?" Jared asked with a yawn.
"I'll catch you at home, there's some things I need to take care of first." I said offering him a smile.
"okay man, see you later." Jared said with a wave.
I was suddenly feeling the need for some coffee.
Reader
"oh my gosh no." Jeremiah said laughing at my embarrassing story.
I had been talking to Jeremiah for over an hour. He was super easy to talk to once I got over the nerves. He was actually really funny too. I was thoroughly enjoying myself.
"I swear to you, spilled it all over the designer." I said laughing too.
"you certainly have a thing for great first impressions." Jeremiah winked.
"It's one of my many shining qualities." I joked.
"I mean you didn't have to hurt yourself to get my attention." Jeremiah flirts, placing a hand on my cheek.
I couldn't stop the blush that spread to my cheeks.
"you're cute when you blush." Jeremiah said gently stroking my cheek with his thumb.
"I probably look like a mess." I said laughing.
"I don't think that's even possible." He whispered, closer to me now.
I could see his eyes shifting from mine, down to my lips.
I think he wants to kiss me.
I think I might want him too.
I gulped as he leaned in, fluttering his eyes closed.
"baby moose, so funny seeing you here."
I jumped at Jensen's loud voice pulling away from Jeremiah.
"Jeremiah right?" Jensen asks holding his hand out for Jeremiah to shake.
"yeah, hey." Jeremiah answers shaking his hand.
It was incredibly awkward as Jensen stood staring at Jeremiah.
"uh Jere, can you go get me a refill?" I asked handing him my empty coffee cup.
"sure, be right back." Jeremiah smiled, taking my cup and disappearing towards the front.
I turned towards Jensen glaring at him.
"what the hell do you think you're doing?" I growled.
"oh you know just getting some coffee."
"you have no right, you need to go!"
"relax, I'm just grabbing some coffee." Jensen smirked.
"well grab your coffee and go, now."
"you don't have to be such a brat." Jensen scoffed before leaving.
Jeremiah came back shortly after with a now full cup of coffee.
"everything okay there?" He asked looking around for Jensen.
"yeah, sorry he just can be kind of an ass sometimes." I said furrowing my eyebrows.
I sat with Jeremiah for another hour, talking and laughing. He then offered to drive me home, which of course I accepted. He pulled in to the driveway, turning off the car.
"I uh, had a really nice time with you tonight." Jeremiah said.
"I had a good time too, thank you." I said offering him a smile.
"I guess this is goodnight then." Jeremiah said slowly, like he was dreading leaving.
"I mean shouldn't we say goodnight properly?" I asked turning towards him with a flirty smile.
Jeremiah smirked, getting what I was hinting at.
Jeremiah leaned in, capturing my lips with his in a gentle kiss. I put my hand on his cheek, kissing him deeper. He was really good at it. I slowly pulled away, allowing the blush to spread to my cheeks.
"goodnight Jeremiah." I said before exiting the car.
I couldn't fight the smile as I walked in to the house, going towards the kitchen.
"how was the rest of your hot date?" Jensen asked sitting at the kitchen island.
I felt my anger towards him return.
"excuse me?"
"relax (y/n) I was just having a bit of fun." Jensen said.
"you're an asshole you know that, okay, all I wanted was to go on a date with a guy I think is cute, and sweet and you had to show up and ruin it." I growled.
"and me showing up for like two seconds ruined that, really?"
"why couldn't you just let me have this one thing, just admit it you cared where I was, who I was with." I started but Jensen quickly cut me off.
"no I didn't, I don't." Jensen was quick to defend
"stop lying!"
"stop being such a baby!"
"oh and you're such an adult huh, you spent your night crashing my first date just for fun!" I yelled furious at him.
Jensen glared at me, taking a sip of his beer.
"you know what just forget it, why don't you go flirt with some more girls." I scoffed turning to walk away.
"yeah, well why don't you go kiss some more wannabe actors." Jensen growled.
I took a deep breath walking away from him.
I feel that if someone really wants you in their life, they’re gonna show it, not just talk about it, and if their actions don’t match up to their words, I lose interest fast.
Jensen was unbelievable.
If he wanted me, he would show it.
I used to know I wanted him, but now I'm not so sure.

Rick swinged his hand at them.
"What was all that?" He shouted as he kept getting closer.
Daryl sighed exaggeratedly as he rested his hands on his knees. He locked his eyes on Rick as Y/n turned to Daryl.
"I'm outta here." She huffed as she raised her eyebrows at the crowd infront of the party house.
"Where the hell do you think your goin'?" Rick uttered, looking at y/n as if she was out of her mind.
"I don't need babysitting, Rick." Y/n said as she rolled her eyes. Her voice was growing taller as Rick's. Daryl was far behind, Rick was getting closer to him and y/n had already passed them.
"You sure do." He thundered. He fixated his eyes on Y/n, his hands were on his hips; his eyebrows were slightly raised due to the fact that y/n wasn't listening to him, wasn't obeying him. He shook his head lightly as he snapped his fingers at Maggie.
"Maggie." He, then snapped his fingers at y/n gesturing that she should accompany y/n on her way to the house.
Maggie was biting her bottom lip agitatedly, creasing her brows. She took a step forward when y/n turned to Rick and sighed.
"Leave me the fuck alone." She snapped.
She looked at the crowd lining infront of the house.
"All of you." She then muttered in a calmer voice. She was stumbling. She tittered to herself as she started walking "These fuckers."
Daryl glared at Rick, not looking willing to admit what had happened. Rick sighed "Can I put some sense into ya if not her?" He uttered, leering at Daryl as if he was pleading.
"Not right now." Daryl shook his head. He stretched his arms lightly, then replaced his hands on his hips.
"Wha' happened to tha' jerk?" He inquired, geniuenly being curious about Spencer's situation.
"He's fine." Rick muttered indifferently. There was a brief stillness as Rick watched y/n making her way to the house. She was wending her way slowly, stumbling now and then; here and there.
"Deanna'll want to talk about this." Rick stated, his eyes still following y/n.
Daryl breathed out. He started walking, Rick's eyes were fixated on his movements.
"We will too."
Daryl's head turned to Rick lightly. He raised his eyebrows quickly for a split second, trying to look interested enough. Rick didn't buy it. He sighed exasperatedly.
"Where are you goin'?" Rick asked.
"Can't show ma face in there, can I?" He uttered. Rick could tell he was exhausted with all the drama that went on minutes ago. Daryl closed his eyes, lightly yawning.
"I'll head back home."
Rick shook his head in frustration. They had settled in Alexandria not so long ago and they already drew more than enough attention to themselves.
••••••
Y/n had been sitting on the stairs infront of the porch for minutes. She pulled her knees to her chest lightly, fingers massaging the temples of her head. She was nauseous, her head was spinning and she was just sitting there and whine. She forgot her purse at the party, waiting for someone to arrive to open the door.
Some kids would pass by her with their parents, giving her worried looks and pointing her to their mothers only for the moms to hush them. Y/n would look around every once in a while, hoping someone to show up.
Daryl saw y/n as he was getting closer to the house. He exhaled softly, not being able to anticipate how she would react.
Y/n lifted her head towards the direction she heard somebody's footsteps. Her expression remained the same, she understood it wasn't the time to give Daryl an attitude.
"Forgot my purse at the party." She whined, creasing her brows. She stood there with her hands rested on her lower stomach and legs crossed into one another. Her hair was messy and tangled, she hadn't cried but her make-up was all over the place. Her eyes were glossy because of the tears that were to come.
Daryl could tell she sounded as if she was about to cry. He eyed her down for a bit before getting closer. Y/n rested her head on her knees, making whiny voices out of pain and discomfort.
He opened the door, not taking a second look at y/n.
"Come on in." He mumbled under his breath and left the door open.
Y/n crawled her way to the door and shut it.
Daryl had already sat down on one of the couches, his hands crossed together. His eyes followed y/n as she was aimlessly walking towards the kitchen, completely not aware of her surroundings. God did she look like a mess, he notioned to himself. He shook the thought away as y/n grabbed a glass of water with ice and sat on the floor. A part of Daryl wished to be there with her, to help her through the night. He felt a sense of protectiveness wash all over him, yet he couldn't get himself up and go over there.
Y/n was whimpering on the floor, holding the iced water of glass to her neck now and then; trying to sober herself up. She could feel herself drifting off, however she didn't have the power to get up and go to her room.
"Ugh." She weeped.
"Did I ruin everyone's night?" She begged like a guilty child. She could see the back of Daryl's head.
"Did I ruin your night?" She inquired. She gazed at the back of his head, only getting a response after an odd silence.
"Ain't some perfect night, anyway."
"I feel guilty." She brittled.
"Mhm ya should be." Daryl grunted. He refused to look at her once again.
There was a moment when Daryl couldn't hear any more of y/n's whinings nor complains. He looked at the open kitchen, not seeing a sight of her. He slowly got up, and absent expression bearing his face. He exhaled and leaned on the kitchen counter with his forearms. He stopped blinking briefly. Y/n had drifted off to sleep on the floor, her glass of water spilled on the floor. She was peacefully breathing, Daryl sighed and took a few steps towards her.
"Y/n." He grunted, being lost in broodiness. He stood by her for a few second without getting a response. He repeated
"Y/n?" Still no answer. Daryl sighed and placed his left hand on his hips. He pressed his lips together, his right hand going through his beard as he looked down at her.
He knelt down next to her, slowly tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. He studied y/n's face for a minute before placing one of his arms under her legs and the other one under her upper torso and lifted her off the floor.
Y/n's hair got in the way of her breathing once again, strands of hair tickling her nose and lips woke her up. She furrowed her brows and squinted her eyes at Daryl, trying to process what was going on.
Daryl caught her leer. He anticipated she could've freak out so he calmly uttered.
"Sshh."
" 'S me."
"Agh." A groan escaped Y/n's mouth as she lazily threw her head back.
Daryl shook his head lightly, trying to hide the subtle smirk appearing on his face. He hated how he would let his guard down like that towards a woman. A drunk woman. His grin grew stronger when y/n wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in his chest.
"Yer fine." Daryl whispered, presuming she must've fallen asleep once again from her shallow breaths.
"Gon' take ya ta bed.."
"Ya'll ge' a good night sleep." He kept whispering to her as all he was getting in return would be her whines and bemoans.
"Jus' hopin' ya won't get sick." He grunted as he opened y/n's door with his feet. She looked pale, she needed to get the alcohol out of her system.
Daryl sighed looking at her pale face, thinking about the others who were still at the party. He turned the light switch on, which caused y/n to squint her eyes. Neither of them said a thing as Daryl put her down on the bed, his eyes roaming through her body. He wanted to help her clean up, take off that uncomfortable looking, skimpy dress, though he couldn't calculate if y/n would be okay with it so he just stood besides her.
He kept glaring at her when her expression turned into a withering one. She swallowed hardly, clearly being thirsty.
"Ya wan' water?" Daryl asked hesitantly. It was not only a question but also a thought he expressed out loud. He looked around the room with a veiled concern. He never took care of someone drunk. It would always be drunk Merle or Merle's friends, if one can call them a friend. However, they didn't need a gentle caretaker like her.
He poured some water in a glass from a jug that was standing on the nightstand. He softly leaned forward as he put some cushions and pillows behind y/n's back to support her stance. He placed one of his large hands on her back to help her stand still.
"There ya go." Daryl mumbled as he helped her drink the water. She took a few small sips and nodded her head to indicate she was good.
"Parched, huh?" He smirked. It was like he completely forgot about what had happened an hour ago, which was to be reminded to him by y/n a moment later.
"Mhmm." was all he got as a response. He kept smirking. Y/n wasn't at her best at the moment but he was glad to spend this alone time with her, away from the others.
She lied down softly as she grabbed one of the pillows and placed it between her arms and embraced it. Daryl kept observing her. She glared at his eyes with a piercing look under the bright light. Neither of them spoke for a while.
"My head is spinning." She whined once again, creasing her brows.
"Tha's normal." He huffed under his breath as he got up. He didn't want the others to catch them like that. He was making his way to the door when he heard a voice coming from y/n.
He turned his head lightly and saw y/n for a split second before she barged into the bathroom. She was covering her mouth with her hand. Panting sounds coming from the bathroom followed by husky retchings. Daryl rushed to the bathroom and immediately knelt down besides y/n, grabbing her hair in his fist swiftly. It was almost like she was trying to hide herself in the toilet seat, gagging and spitting. She hacked a few times hardly to a point where Daryl could see her veins throbbing on her neck.
Y/n reached the flush and cried out as she collapsed to the bathroom floor.
"This is gross."
"Please leave." She said turning her head to Daryl, looking at him with begging eyes. Tiny little amount of her puke splattered onto her chin, Daryl fixated his eyes on the spot and looked around the bathroom with an absent-minded expression on his face.
He grabbed a towel that was hanging on the handle of a drawer on the bathroom cupboard. He cupped y/n's neck with his left hand as he started cleaning the the vomit off of her chin.
"I need to take a shower." Y/n gulped as she placed her hand to the bathroom sink for strength to get up off the floor. Daryl got up at the same time with her, his hands close to y/n's waist incase she'd collapse to the floor once again; though, she looked a lot better now that all the alcohol was out of her system.
"Sure ya'll be fine?" Daryl quaked, failing to fight the concern off his face.
Y/n looked up to make eye contact with Daryl.
"A little help wouldn't hurt." She cooed. She grabbed Daryl from the forearm lightly. She fixed her posture and turned to turn on the water. Daryl stood in the bathroom, scanning her body and the way she lowered her dress hanger, the dress dropped to the floor. She kicked it with her feet.
She turned her head softly to glare at Daryl.
"What if I collapse and hit my head?" She huffed, a sarcastic apprehension in her voice.
Daryl smirked. He could sense the absurdness in her voice yet he came closer. The water had already started to flow down her body to the drain as some of it splashed onto Daryl's tshirt, leaving it soaked with water; yet he didn't mind as he was unclasping y/n's bra.
Y/n sat on marble of the bathtub with her knees pulled to her chest as she embraced them with her arms. Both of them were hit with an emotion wave of their past ongoing beef with eachother. Y/n locked her eyes to the door while Daryl was sitting on one of the stools, watching water droplets hitting y/n's skin. The tranquility reminded of him the same thing y/n was boring her mind with.
" 'M sorry." Y/n bawled. Water hitting on the cold marble was echoing in the small bathroom which almost made her apology unheard. She was still not looking at Daryl.
Daryl remained silent as he stopped looking at her. His eyes were fixated on the dirty rag on the floor and this time y/n gazed at him in the steamy bathroom.
Daryl sighed and got up. He was never good with these type of confrontations. He felt a sense of rage washing all over him towards y/n for ruining a calm, bewitching moment.
"I'ma be downstairs." He grunted. He didn't take a second peek at her. He was uncomfortable all of a sudden. Y/n's eyes followed him as he shut the bathroom door.
She breathed out, suddenly feeling claustrophobic under all the steam and the heat of the water. She got up and turned off the water right away. She paid attention to the sounds coming from downstairs. Everyone must be here, she thought to herself. There was nothing bizarre about it, they probably wanted to talk to two of them.
She exhaled and bit her bottom lip as she stepped out of the bathtub. She tried to reach the larger towel that was hanging on the hanger on the door while trying to dry her feet by rubbing them to the dirty rag.
She finally grabbed it with the tip of her fingers and wrapped it around her body. She felt as if she was at the edge of crying from the stress that was bottling up inside her, stress that she caused. Self aware, atleast; she sniggered to her thought.
She leered at her reflection, being tottaly worn out with the night. She took the brush and tried to detangle her tangled hair.
She took one last peek at her reflection before going into her room, juiced up about sleeping. She'd hope they wouldn't bother her the next day after a night like that.
She walked into her room only to see Daryl slightly lying on her bed; cautiously listening to the the house.
His gaze shifted to y/n and took a quick breath as his ears turned into a reddish shade.
"Don' wan' ta deal with 'em." He mumbled swiftly, not maintaining an eye contact.
Y/n was taken aback. She peered at his damp tshirt and the way he played with his fingers. She didn't know what to feel. They had been in an unending fight for weeks and she, in a way, forgot about it while she was wasted. On the other hand, this was an inconvenient situation for both of them. They were ignoring eachother for weeks, avoiding being in the same room; not talking to eachother besides the times they've had to. However, in that moment; they were harboring in the same room. This time, avoiding others.
Y/n's smile faded lightly. She blinked in apace couple of times as she dragged her feet to the closet in her room.
"You can stay here." She stated, going through her clothes to wear something comfortable.
Daryl stayed silent. She was taking more time than necessary because of the odd minutes to come with Daryl.
She wore a loose short and topped it with a white tank top. She checked Daryl from the corner of her eye, he wasn't moving from her bed. She sighed quietly as she hopped on the bed, eyeing Daryl up and down.
"Ya okay?" He inquired nonchalantly. He did not only ask that because he geniuenly cared but also because he tried to make conversation.
"Mhmm." Y/n huffed under her breath. She was doing a hook sitting, her hands falling on the fresh sheets.
This whole deal troubled her deep down. There was a part in her that was feeling kind-hearted towards him. She couldn't make out how she was so close him yet so far. She had sprawled all over on the bed though Daryl looked uncomfortable as if they were just two teenagers who met through their pertinacious friends. Nonetheless that was not who they were, one could never limit their relationship with words. They weren't friends, lovers. Hell, everyone doubted them, yet no one could speak up. Y/n's brain felt like exploding during her debate inside of her head about her and Daryl. Her eyes were locked on a spot, not moving them an inch.
They didn't speak, they didn't need to. They were all ears to the sounds coming from downstairs when all of sudden all the hustle and the rumble went away completely. They looked at eachother at once. They were both softly wide-eyed, trying to decide if some of them actually left.
"They weren't gonna scold us like lil' kids, anyway." Y/n joked while looking into Daryl's eyes. He scoffed however this only happened under 10 seconds.
Y/n rubbed her chin as she grabbed one of the cushions and placed it on her lap and started swaying her right foot.
Daryl got up and stretched his body. He wasn't sure if he should say something to her which he didn't change his mind and made his way to the door slowly.
Y/n watched his movements, feeling hot under her skin. A part of her longed for his touch, his calming presence. She didn't give it a second thought.
"Why don't you sleep here?" She uttered aimlessly, trying to sound indifferent.
"With me." She then added in a tone above whisper.
Daryl turned his body towards her direction, his hand lightly gripping the door handle. Y/n watched his eyes, looking into his soul. She wanted to read his mind, his track of thought so badly. He had always been someone hard to read.
She didn't change her position at all, still swinging her right foot while the cushion was resting on her lap. Under that mask, nevertheless, she was becoming hotter and hotter. She blinked in apace, swallowing her dry spit and trying to put a pleasant look on her face.
Daryl was in a huge dilemma, not knowing to whether listen to his heart or his brain. Maybe this was a chance after all, maybe she wasn't gonna take a first step ever again. Y/n was looking at him through her lashes, her pupils dilated under the dim light. She was putting on that doll look to convince him once again. God, did it always work.
He peered into her eyes for a brief moment before fighting off the stern look on his face and walking towards the bed leisurely.
Y/n wasn't moving, she still had that doll-like look upon her face, her brows and eyes gesturing his torso.
"I'm not letting you in my bed with that wet t-shirt." She sunged, furrowing her brows in a playful way.
She hopped from the bed as Daryl took of his tshirt and threw it on one off the chairs in the bedroom.
She was acting like a joyful kid, unmaking the bed with eagerness in her actions. She tossed the white covers to a corner and hid herself under the big blanket, the wetness of her hair leaving damp spots on the pillows.
Daryl's lips' curls were slowly going upward in a steady pace. Y/n wasn't looking at his side as he snuggled on the bed next to her. It wasn't necessarily a big bed and considering Daryl's brawny masculine built he had to come closer to her.
Neither of them said a word. Y/n turned to her side, her back facing Daryl. She moved her body closer to his, her hips being curved on his lap while he rested his large hand on her waist. They stayed like that for a while, all of which they were hearing was laughter coming from downstairs from Michonne and Rick. They were lulling in quietude, listening to eachother's breaths.
Daryl could feel y/n's body movements when she would breath calmly, so could y/n. There were to many unsettled things between them yet it wasn't an obstacle for that moment. Y/n fixated her eyes to a chipped paint on the wall under the window while Daryl's eyes were locked on her damp hair. Some strands of her wet hair was falling on his bare arm, sending chills down his spine and giving him goosebumps.
"Yer hair 's still wet." He grunted under his breath. Y/n shook away the random thoughts from her mind and looked to the side, not turning to Daryl.
"It'll dry." She uttered. They were in such state that they were numb, almost high on ecstasy.
A loud chuckle from downstairs made them stop thinking about eachother for a second.
"Guess it wasn't a shitty night after all for some people." Y/n murmured and regretted right after. She squinted her eyes as she kept them shut, waiting for Daryl's response.
"I'd rather not talk 'bout it." He grunted under his breath.
"Right." Y/n huffed as she reached for the light switch to turn the dim, yellowish light.
They drifted off to sleep snuggling.

asking everyone who hasn't already to report the profiles garma-mom and cosmic-mango. they're the same person but lately they've become a nasty, aggressive jerk to people in fandoms such as TWD and I think GOTG. they've made it to where nice people and writers don't even want to put up their stuff for fear of being attacked by them, and aside from all that and being an immature, racist bully, they. must. go.
if you've got the time, it would be great to do a solid for the fandom communities to remain, for the most part, a wholesome, friendly place.

if you get this, answer w/ three random facts about yourself and send it to the last seven blogs in your notifs. anon or not, doesn’t matter, let’s get to know the person behind the blog !
Okay… 3 random facts… let me think about things you guys don’t know yet. 🤔
1- I love learning languages, I can speak Portuguese, English and Spanish. I’m learning Italian at the moment. Also, I know basic Mandarin and Korean.
2- I’m an introvert. Being an English Teacher helped me to develop myself in communication, but outside of the classroom I’m still a little weird to approach people and talk with them. I always think I can be disturbing someone or being intrusive. Also it takes some time till I’m comfortable with others, but then I’ll be completely open.
3- Recently I’ve been into Scrapjournaling/JunkJournaling so I’ve done some collages and drawings on an old journal that I never happened to finish using.
That’s it! 🩷 thanks for this ask @lilyevanstan1325 🩷🩷🩷

Oh Hello! Thank you! I started in my new job and still didn’t find a place to rent definitely. Last week was so hard… that I just vanished here. I was like all my free time obsessed on finding a place to rent. Also because I had rent a place for 1 week thinking it would be easy to find somewhere. I should have left yesterday the place I was, so I was desperate and afraid to have no place to stay. Thank you for caring and worrying about me 🩷

Summary: When a sudden change in Shane's behaviour appears it leaves you both startled and vulnerable. Meanwhile your brother takes on his brotherly duty of checking out Daryl. Will Shane's new attitute be more dangerous then his explosive one? [ read part 1 & part 2 & part 3 & part 5 ]
Tumblr media
You were searching the back of the truck for something specific in one of the many bags stashed there. You had to bend a bit over the railing to reach more to the middle. Slightly getting bugged that you just couldn’t reach that bag. You heard some footsteps approach, yet kept focused on your doings. – “Daryl can you…” – you started as the person behind you neared. Your words cut off by a loud gasp, eyes widening as two firm hands set on your hips. Their body pressing hard against your back. This didn’t feel like Daryl.
His grip was too brutal for it. – “Where is your bodyguard?” – you heard Shane say close to your ear. A shiver of fright went through your body, making you instinctively elbow him back and spin around to be less vulnerable. Shane stumbled back with his hands up and a ridiculous smirk on his face. – “What the f*ck do you want!” – you called out to him, feeling disgusted that he had touched you.
Shane lowered his hands with a cocky expression. – “So defensive.” – he replied with a dirty chuckle. You kept a tentative eye on his behaviour, with him you could never be certain. He noticed you were anxiously looking past him, almost if you were hoping someone would notice him around you and come.
“Looking for Rick?” – Shane asked, moving his head a bit so he’d block your view. – “Or that dirtbag of yours?” – he added following your motion as he wanted to keep himself in the centre of you. – “Can’t defend yourself? You are pathetic Y/n.” – he scoffed  making you harden your gaze to a glare at him. – “And you’re a dick.” – you responded. To your surprise he laughed. You were anything but trying to be funny. Shane touched his nose, looking briefly away before taking a step closer to you.
He set his hand down on the truck, entrapping one side of yours. He tilted his head a bit to get a better look at you. You felt intimated and watched. Wanting his prying eyes to stop, you pushed him away. – “You lied to me!” – you called out wanting to change whatever he was doing. You wanted to divert his prying eyes from you.
Anything to get those hungry eyes off you. – “About?” – Shane asked in return, finding his balance again. – “Rick!” – you shouted at him. Shane tensed his jaw. – “You told me he was dead!” – you reminded him. – “He was as good as dead.” – Shane responded loud.
“Going after him was hopeless.” – he finished. – “You left him for dead…” – you accused. Shane came closer again standing nose to nose with you. Puffing his chest up to appear taller. – “I did what I had to do in that situation.” – he made clear. – “Rick was as good as dead.” – he stated staring hard at you. – “I saved you.” – he said making you harden your expression. – “No, you left me for dead.” – you answered coldly. Shane slammed his hand against he back of the truck, startling you. – “That was on you!” – he called out.
“If you only…” – he slightly lowered his voice not finishing his sentence. – “If what?” – you shouted at him angry. Shane inhaled sharp through his nose, grabbing you firm by your arms. Your back got pushed hard against the back of the truck. With a bit of fright in your eyes, you stared back in his eyes. Shane staring right back at you, before he breathed out a laugh.
Lowering his head with a shake as he kept chuckling. His act a complete mystery to you. He inhaled sharp through his teeth, looking back up to you. This time he was smiling as he booped your nose. – “Y/n Grimes.” – he said with a chuckle. Clearly amusing himself, but completely confusing to you. He took in a deep breath, looking up to the sky.
Brows furrowed, you couldn’t help but stare confused at him. Shane’s gaze was on you again till they lowered. Stopping somewhere at the same height of your lips. It made your expression untense with surprise. Shane smiled. Moving your shoulders, you wanted to brush his hands off you. Shane let go of you taking a step back. He turned around taking his leave, yet while walking off he just had to look one more time back at you.
Once he was out of sight, you exhaled loud. Grasping for your chest, feeling your heart pound like a maniac. This behaviour might have been scarier then when he pressed a gun against your head. You forgot about your search and just ran off. Not wanting to be out of that situation. You jogged back to camp just to be more in the public eye.
Carol stopped you, seeing you were out of breath. – “Hey are you alright Y/n?” – she asked touching your shoulder. Unable to form any words you kept trying to catch your breath. – “Fine…” – you told her. – “You sure?” – She asked further. Taking in a deep breath, you hummed with your hands on your hip.
“All fine.” – you reassured her with a soft smile. – “Okay Y/n.” – she replied not pushing any further. You walked over to the campfire, picking up a bottle of water from the cooler (that didn’t work anyway) from beside Glenn. Taking the top off, you started to drink. First a voice came followed by a touch. – “Did you find the toolbox?” – It was Daryl’s voice as he had placed a hand on your hip.
His little touch made your body reflex into wanting to get them off. You jumped forwards, spinning around immediately, some water splashing out of the bottle. Daryl moved his hands up as a reflex. – “Sorry.” – he said looking a bit hurt at you. You exhaled deep once your brain was sure it was Daryl. – “No I’m sorry.” – you told him, approaching him.
“I’m… just a bit… jumpy.” – you went on, closing your water bottle. You laid your arm on his shoulder tilting his chin up with your finger, wanting him to look you in the eye instead of looking away. – “I’m sorry.” – you let him know with clear intentions. To prove to him you were truly sorry, you gave him a kiss. – “You okay?” – Daryl asked as your gaze drifted over your shoulder. Across, your eyes met up with Shane.
He had stopped and was staring. Something about the tightness in his expression making you nervous. Almost as if he was making up scenario’s in his mind. Daryl noticed your absence as he looked beyond you, seeing Shane as well. His first reaction was to look disgusted back at him. Almost murderous as his hand gently pushed you closer to him. – “I’m okay.”- you spoke breaking the contact with Shane.
You started walking taking Daryl’s hand as you pulled him with you. Daryl’s gaze never leaving Shane’s with a threatening look. – “I didn’t find the toolbox.” – you told Daryl while walking off. Daryl gave you his full attention once more, falling in step with you. Daryl and you walked up to the truck. Daryl reached in the trunk, taking out the toolbox. – “Daryl…” – you started, hearing him hum loud as a response.
“Can… can I sleep with you in the camper tonight?” – you asked feeling a bit shy. Daryl turned his posture to you. – “Sure, why?” -  he asked curious. – “It’s just… I… I don’t feel like being alone tonight…” – you answered as Daryl threw his arm over your shoulder. – “I got ya Y/n.” – he responded leaving a caring kiss against the temple.
Daryl handed the toolbox to Rick. – “Thanks.” – he said, slapping Daryl against his shoulder. Rick set the toolbox down, kneeling beside it. – “So uhm you and my sister..” – Rick started taking out a wrench. – “Rick!” – you called out embarrassed. Your brother chuckled. – “I was just curious Y/n.” – Rick answered moving his hands up with a smile. – “Uh-hu.” – you hummed out funnily. – “You just want to hear him out.” – you replied.
“I mean if you want me too.” – Rick responded with a chuckle. – “No, I don’t.” – you said giving him a nudge so he almost lost his balance. Rick laughed. – “I just want to get to know the man my sister finds interesting.” – he said embarrassing you. – “Oh shut up.” – you nudged him again to make him stop embarrassing you. – “You know my sister used to be really shy.” – Rick told Daryl.
“Really?” – Daryl looked with surprise at you. Rick hummed loud. – “Used to be afraid to talk to boys.” – he outed. – “I was eleven!” – you called out to justify it. Daryl seemed to find it adorable. – “I mean she hid behind the curtains when Shane came by for the first time.” – Rick continued to tell with a chuckle. – “Shane would make it a game to get you from behind the curtains.”
“You two were stupid teenagers.” – you responded to your brother, remembering it. You remembered very well how Shane would run up to the curtains, tickling you through the thick curtains, just to get you to move from behind them. Teasing you with silly words and pulls on the curtain as you kept pulling it back in front of you, not wanting to engage with a teenage boy. Daryl’s smile had faded, showing a bit of jealousy in his expression.
“Anyways.” – you said loud not wanting to hear more of it. – “I grew out of it.” – you told Rick laying an arm over Daryl. – “You did.” – Rick replied with a warm smile. You nudged Daryl to leave your brother to do his tasks. Glancing to your side, you noticed Daryl actually wanted to ask you something. – “Don’t.” – you let him know.
Daryl simply nodded. He came standing before you, making you stop. – “I’ll have to finish some tasks, see you tonight in the camper?” – he wanted to ask to be certain. You hummed with a nod. Daryl kissed your forehead before taking his leave. Exhaling soft, you turned around to head over to Carol for laundry duty.
Night was falling as you felt exhausted. Muscles sore from handwashing all those clothing. You had just said goodnight to Carl, telling him you’d do a sleepover with him tomorrow. He wanted to have a sleepover with you in the car, but you had already promised Daryl you’d come. Carl seemed satisfied enough with your answer running over to the tent he shared with Rick and Lori. You opened the door to the camper, getting in.
Daryl already laid on the bed or rather self-made sleeping area. With one hand behind his back, he lowered himself. Tapping the empty space beside him whilst laying his head down. You chuckled going over to him. You laid yourself beside him as Daryl moved his arm around you. He snuggled closer to you, settling himself in a good comfortable position. His chin resting against the top of your head. – “My offer still stands.” – he muttered out with closed eyes.
It took you a second to remember which offer till you got it. The running away offer. – “I know…” – you replied moving your head on his chest. Somehow you couldn’t get Shane out of your head, as some things became clearer. Perhaps there has been hints of his behaviour towards you in the past. When you were younger, he always seemed to take an eager interest in you. Why?
“Daryl?” – you said soft expecting an answer, but your answer got replied by soft snoring. Lifting your head up, you wanted to see for sure. He had fallen asleep. Taking a deep breath, you lowered your head on his chest once more. Pulling your knees up to snuggle closer to him. Trying to banish the demons from your head.

Summary: After your little fall-out with Shane, you start to distance yourself. Daryl gives zero f*cks about you distancing yourself as he keeps himself aroud. During a heart to heart with Daryl, you might discover more of the underlying tone of Shane's attitude towards you. [ read part 1 & part 2 & part 4 & part 5 ]
Tumblr media
Crickets cricked in the bushes around the fire. Rick sat by the fire with Lori and Carl. Carl was leaning against him staring at the mesmerizing flames. Lori was in deep thought. Some had joined them but mostly everyone had an agenda of their own. Daryl stood a bit further away, leaning against a tree. His gaze turned away from the fire, but rather turned towards you. You weren’t engaging with the crowd, but keeping your distance from them.
You felt humiliated. Like a spying glass had been cast upon you. Everywhere you went, a set of curious eyes followed. Trying to figure out what was going on between Shane and you. Frankly you hardly had a clue to his behaviour towards you. Perhaps you needed to dig deep. Go way back to old memories from before the fall. Before the world went to hell.
Looking over at your brother made you smile faintly. He looked so happy yet somehow you felt like an outsider. Adverting your gaze from him, you turned your posture to take your leave. Going further away from the others to find solitude. The moment you got in motion, went Daryl after you. Leaving the others for what they were to go with you.
Hearing a second pair of feet trail behind you, you exhaled deep. – “Daryl I want to be alone.” – you told him keeping your pace up. – “Fine. I’ll just keep my distance.” – he answered slowing a bit down. Looking up with a heavy sigh, you stopped. – “Daryl you don’t understand. I don’t want you here!” – you made clear having turned around to him. – “Too bad for I’m not going anywhere.” – he made clear. – “Daryl!” – you groaned out. – “What!” – he called back going in defence.
You groaned loud pressing your palms against your eyes, feeling yourself get worked up. – “Daryl please give me some space.” – you begged. – “I’ll give you space but at least let me be around.” – he asked in return. It made you furrow your brows. – “I don’t want to lose… I mean… if a walker appears…” – he spoke swallowing a lot of his words back in. – “Then what? I can shoot Daryl, remember!” – you made clear.
“I know but you…” – he exhaled loud walking up to you. – “You are not in the right headspace right now.” – he told you, touching your elbow. You turned your head bothered away. You hated how right he was. – “Just… just let me keep you save.” – he lowered his head a bit to catch your attention.
Untensing your muscles with a deep sigh, you surrendered to him. Daryl took you by the other elbow as well, pulling you closer to his body. Sensing just how much you needed it. He wrapped his arms one by one around you. Your arms remained at your side, not feeling it yet. – “Give it a few moments.” – Daryl teased half chuckling. You scrunched your nose, hating how right he was. Not a moment later you gave in, wrapping your arms around him too.
“Good girl.” – he said chuckling. You slapped him hard on the back. – “Don’t patronize me.” – you responded grumpy. Daryl removed his arms from around you, cupping your cheek as he tilted your head a bit back. – “Never.” – he whispered staring down at you. He left a quick kiss on your forehead as it didn’t feel satisfying to you.
He let go of you, spinning you around by your shoulders. He started pushing you through the woody parts of the camp. – “Where are we going?” – you questioned. – “To be alone, like you wanted.” – he simply said, continue to push you forwards. Using you like a compass, navigating his way through.
You came to a clearing in the woods. All the cars were parked over there. Daryl guided you towards the truck opening the door for you at the drivers seat. You got inside, watching him jog around to get in on the other side. He shut the door firm behind him. – “Solitude and silence.” – he joked. – “You are still here.” – you reminded him with a tease. Daryl leaned down in the seat, getting all comfy. – “No I’m not.” – he adjusted the seating lower, leaning back.
“Go ahead and mope or cry or shout, just wake me up when you see a walker.” – he said casually flopping his arm over his head. – “Daryl!” – you said laughingly nudging him hard. – “What?” – he responded unable to hide a smile. – “You’re an idiot.” – you nudged him again with a silly smile on your face. – “I know.” – he answered all smug. He shut his eyes, pretending to take a nap.
You exhaled soft looking out of the dusty window. – “It’s a bit too quiet.” – you said out loud. – “I’m not singing any songs.” – Daryl mumbled in response without moving a muscle. It made you laugh. Daryl set himself back up with a deep exhale. – “Alright fighter, let’s talk.” – he tapped his hand on your knee.
You grabbed the steering wheel staring in front of you. – “How are you feeling with your brother being back, Y/n?” – he asked. You breathed out a laugh, looking at him. – “What I can be serious.” – he let out making you laugh even more. You then calmed letting your hands rejoice at the top of the steering wheel. – “It still feels a bit weird seeing him alive. Don’t get me wrong I am overjoyed he is alive… it is just…” – you started. – “You thought he was dead for so long.” – Daryl finished as you hummed.
“Before… before it all went down my brother was shot.” – You told Daryl. – “They were armed and shot at my brother. Shane… my brother’s partner brought him to the hospital. He wasn’t waking up so they left him in a coma. It was already then a risk if he would make it out alive.” – taking a deep breath you let your forehead rest against your hands on the steering wheel. Suddenly you were pulled back in the memories of the first strike.
Shane drove his car aggressively onto the front lawn. He stepped out all worked up when Lori appeared in the door. – “Shane?” – she said. – “Lori get your bags!” – Shane ordered pointing firm at her. Carl squeezed himself between the opening and his mom, coming in front of her. – “Lori your bags!” – Shane shouted having opened the trunk. – “What for? What is going on Shane?” – She asked feeling herself go in a panic because of his behaviour.
A few houses away broke the window with a clashing sound. Screams filled the streets when a woman tripped. A person going up to her and dropped himself to the ground. A moment later his head lifted a bit of flesh between his teeth. Blood staining his chin as he munched on the flesh. Lori covered up Carl’s eyes, shakingly holding a hand before her mouth. – “Lori!” – Shane yelled startling her. – “The bags!” – Lori nodded shockingly letting go of Carl.
Shane rushed over to Carl, grabbing him roughly by the arm. – “What about dad?” – Carl asked when Shane opened the car door. Shane pushed Carl on the backseat, closing the door on him. Shane ran into the house to help out Lori. Carl looked out of the window, crying silently at what he saw. Flesh being ripped off and blood splattering all around.
You were running horrified by what was occurring. Utter panic in the streets. People eating people. Biting bits and pieces for their own hunger. You didn’t lived far so your first reaction was running over to Rick’s house. There you saw Shane’s car parked poorly on the grass. Upon seeing Carl in the car, you started running faster. – “Carl!” – you shouted loud. Carl heard some muffled sounds before his eyes fell upon you. – “Auntie Y/n!” – he called out, pushing the car door open.
He ran up to you, bumping hard against you. He was crying loud against your body as you shielded him from the horrors. Lori and Shane came out of the house with bags. – “Y/n!” – Lori said surprised. – “Get in the car!” – Shane ordered to Lori. Lori nodded going to the car, tossing the bags in the trunk. Shane walked up to Carl, pulling him off you. – “In the car!” – he shouted at Carl, tossing him towards the car. Lori took Carl, putting him in the car.
“Where is Rick?” – you asked confused. Shane remained silent. – “You were with him! You were at the hospital so where is he?” – you wanted to know. – “Where is he?” – you shouted punching Shane on the shoulder.  Shane grabbed you by the wrist. – “He’s gone!” – he shouted at you. – “No!” – you cried out.
“You are lying!” – you told him. Shane grabbed you by the arms. – “You want to go and see for yourself? Fine! It will be your dead. He is gone Y/n!” – Shane’s hands moved further around you towards your back as it made you step back before they could fully close around you. Shane’s expression hardened. – “Go chase a dead man than!” – he said rudely pushing you away.
You stumbled to the ground in shock. Shane stormed off towards his car. – “If you would just…” – he began, looking over his shoulder to you. Without another word he got in the car. Your eyes widened knowing what he was about to do. You got up to your feet running towards the car. The car got in motion as you missed it. It took a turn, driving off. – “Shane!” – you shouted running after the car.
“Shane!” – you screamed as the distance increased. You couldn’t keep up, you never could. Stopping you dropped to your knees crying and screaming. Carl on the backseat knocking against the glass and shouting was the last thing you saw.
Your head shot up making Daryl blink confused. – “Is…is everything alright?” – he asked after your long silence. – “He told me Rick was dead.” – you mumbled staring hard in front of you. Your hands tightening around the steering wheel. Knuckles turning white. – “He lied…” – you said a bit louder. – “Who?” – Daryl asked getting a bit cautious of how terrifying cold you were being. – “He lied!” – you called out.
Out of anger you started to slap your hand against the steering wheel. Hitting it repeatedly even when your hand felt sore. – “Y/n, Y/n.” – Daryl said trying to get you to stop. He grabbed your hands as you continued to slap, hitting Daryl in the process. He pulled them off the steering wheel pulling at your hands to turn your posture more towards him. He wrapped his arms around you tight as you cried your heart out against his chest.
Pressing his lips hard on top of your head. Daryl turned his head spotting a trailed off walker appear from between the trees. – “Y/n.” – he whispered. – “I’ll be right back… you stay here…” – he said as you felt his grip around you loosen. You lifted your head up as well, seeing the walker. Daryl moved his finger to his mouth, letting you know to remain silent. He then gestured for you to stay put. He was going to take care of it. Your gaze darted down to the crossbow on the floor. His arrows sticking up.
You grabbed an arrow, getting out of the car. – “Y/n!” – Daryl called out, hurrying out of the car. Clenching your grip around the arrow, you went up to the walker. – “Y/n!” – Daryl shouted as it caught the attention of the walker. The walker gaged making it’s way over to you. Daryl ran up to you trying to keep you out of harms way. You raised the arrow, jamming it into the walker’s eye. Pushing it further in, the walker fell backwards with you on top of it.
Pulling the arrow out of it, you jammed it again in it’s eye. Then again and again. Gory blood splashing up. You kept trusting it in the eye, creating a massive hole. – “Y/n! Y/n!” – Daryl called out grabbing your arm to stop you from hitting it once more. – “It’s dead.” – Daryl made clear. You gasped for air with a loud sob, lowering your arm. Daryl took the arrow from you.
You wiped some gore off your face with your arm. Getting up with a loud huff. You wanted to walk off as Daryl grabbed your wrist, keeping you in place. – “What the hell was that about?” – he wanted to know. You didn’t have to speak as he understood. Daryl searched his back pockets taking out a key with the most ridiculous keychains on them. He opened your hand slapping them in your hand.
It made you frown. – “You can drive if you like.” – he said. – “Daryl what… what do you…” – you began as he interrupted. – “I don’t need all of them! I don’t! Hell I can survive better on my own!” – he made clear with a loud tone. – “So f*ck them all and drive off!” – he continued finally making himself clear to you. He grabbed you by the shoulders with a deep exhale.
“All I care about is you Y/n. Let’s get in the car and go. Just go. Leave this pile of shit behind.” – he pulled you closer letting his forehead rest against yours. – “All I want is for you to be save Y/n. So say the word and we’ll leave.” – he finished. You closed your hand with the keys in it, smiling up to him. You kissed him tender on the lips.
Daryl held himself back knowing it was a bittersweet kiss. He knew you couldn’t leave Carl… or Rick. – “I’ll hold you to it.” – you told him not saying entirely no to his offering. Daryl cupped your cheeks, kissing you once more. Deepening his kiss. Lips brushing against one another. A promise made underneath the moonlight.

Tumblr media
Shane slammed his hand on the hood, alarming everyone they were set to ride. Rick kissed Lori goodbye and gave Carl a hug before joining Shane by the car. Glenn already stood by it, wanting to drive. Shane came standing before him with a glare. Glenn swallowed nervously getting the hint. He moved to the backseat as Shane got in the front. Rick joined Shane on the other side. Daryl was by his motorcycle with Carol. Carol was speaking to him, telling him to be careful.
He listened half, finding her motherly concern a bit overrated. You tossed an empty bag in the trunk, shutting it. You were about to get into the car when Daryl whistled loud. It made you look back at him, seeing him ask you over. Smiling, you went up to Daryl. The car door opened as Shane set one foot out, standing up. – “In the car!” – he ordered. – “She’s riding with me!” – Daryl called back.
“Y/n! the car!” – he made clear. Daryl let the engine roar of his motorcycle to overpower Shane’s overrule. You went over to Daryl anyways, grabbing his back as you swung your leg over the motorcycle. Shane puffed annoyed getting back in the car. Your hands were on Daryl as he took them, wrapping them tighter and closer to the front around him.
Daryl rode off, passing by the car. Shane easily caught up with him, riding past him. Shane then slowed a bit down so Daryl and you were still close by. Daryl wasn’t speeding much to not attract any walkers with the noise of the motor. You were leaning against his back, watching the trees pass till it would eventually make way for the highway. – “Hey Y/n.” – Daryl said catching your attention. It made you lift your head up from against his back. – “Yeah?” – you answered.
Daryl turned the steering a bit, getting closer to the woods as you were confused to what he was doing. – “How about a little detour?” – he chuckled out. – “Daryl!” – you called out slapping him against his back. Daryl steered back to the middle of the road where the car drove a few meters up front. – “Shane would go feral.” – you told him. – “I don’t care.” – Daryl answered back.
“Yeah cause having him drive after us like a maniac with Glenn and my brother in the car is so thrilling.” – you teased with a roll of your eyes. Daryl chuckled already picturing it. – “It’s not funny!” – you called out giving him another slap against his shoulder.
Wrapping your arms tighter around him, you snuggled closer against him. – “Just enjoy this.” – you mumbled out. Daryl kept tailing the car till they made it up to the highway. There they started to speed up knowing they had to have daylight at their side. If they would be stuck in the city by night, it would be hell. By the edge of the city, they parked. Not wanting to attract the walkers that roamed the city. Their city now. Fallen a few years ago.
You got off Daryl’s bike as he held you in place by taking your wrist. You turned confused at him. Daryl pulled out a gun, putting it in your hands while his gaze was on Shane up ahead with the car. – “I don’t want my girl to be unarmed.” – he told you, pushing your hand closer to your body. You turned your back to the car, putting the gun away out of eye’s way.
Daryl knew Shane would never let you have a gun. It was even a surprise that were allowed on this run for supplies. You leaned down resting your arm over his shoulder. – “I always have you to save my ass.” – you told him smirking. Daryl inhaled deep bringing his hand on your back down to your bottom. – “A fine one too.” – he answered making you snort.
Daryl and you kissed quick before he got off his motorcycle. You went over to Glenn, taking an empty bag from as well. Glenn stepped away when he saw Rick approach you. – “Nervous brother?” – you asked when he slid his arm over your shoulder. – “Only for you.” – he responded. – “I’ll be fine. I’ve dealt with walkers more than you.” – you laughed out patting him against his cheek.
Rick chuckled giving you a little shove. – “Hey you’re the newbie here.” – you teased giving him a bump with your hip. Shane came walking around you and Rick having a little comment to say. – “Try not to scream at a walker Y/n.” – he said making you smile sarcastically back at him. You left Rick’s side going after Shane wanting to reply to that. – “Try keeping him alive now.” – you commented hinting your brother.
Shane’s eyes widened briefly but before he could reply, you had joined the others. – “Here you go.” – Glenn said offering you a machete. You accepted it, looking over at Daryl. You didn’t think you would be given a weapon. You then looked over to Shane, wanting to see what he would do about it. He didn’t comment on it, so you got to keep the machete.
Glenn took the lead as he knew some good routes to a nearby store. Daryl and you walked at the back, keeping a good eye on your behinds. The streets were silent. Papers and trash scattered around. Some moving with the wind. Glenn stopped at the front of an alleyway that led up to the main road. Shane and Rick right behind him. Daryl turned his back at you, holding his crossbow up to the other end of the alley in case one would dare to sneak up.
Glenn overlooked the main road, seeing some walkers stand mindlessly still. Some wandering a bit at the slowest pace. Almost unactive from not having eaten so long. – “And?” – Shane asked keeping his voice low. – “It’s a risk.” – he answered seeing a walker sniff the air, making him pull back into he alleyway. – “The stores are up ahead across this street. I don’t think we can make it across unnoticed.” – Glenn spoke lowly looking at Rick and you.
“What if we distract them with noise?” – you suggested making everyone look at you. – “This way we’ll clear the road for you all to cross.” – you finished. – “And who are you suggesting to sacrifice themselves?” – Shane asked with crossed arms.
“It’s not a sacrifice if you do it right.” – you replied with a glare. Shane puffed loud. He then pushed Glenn forwards amidst you all. – “He’ll go.” – he put up. Glenn stared angry at him. – “No, Glenn is the fastest runner, besides he knows the place.” – you countered, backing Glenn up. – “I’ll do it.” – you proposed. – “Y/n no!” – Rick let out, shaking his head. – “It’s not up for discussion.” – you told your brother. Daryl joined having been on guard the entire time. – “I’m coming too.” – he said.
Shane shook his head, pinching his nose bridge. – “We need focus, not more distractions.” – Shane let out. Daryl came up to Shane. – “You got a problem?” – he asked. Shane puffed up his chest to appear larger. – “Enough!” – you shout-whispered coming in between them. Now was not the time and place to argue and fight.
“I don’t care who comes with me, but if we stay here any longer there will be an army of walkers feasting on our flesh!” – you said frustrated. Shane grabbed you by the elbow, pulling you away. Apparently he was coming with you. Daryl wanted to go after you but Rick held him back. – “We have to be ready when they clear the road.” – Rick told him.
You pushed Shane’s hand off you. The two of you rounded the back of some abandoned houses. Shane knocked some wooden planks off that boarded up the broken windows. – “After you.” – he said gloating. It made you roll your eyes. You gave him a little shove out of the way so that you could crawl through the window. Shane got in after you. With his gun up, he sneaked through the dark room to scout for any walkers.
You heard some faint groaning sounds walking up to it. Amidst the rubble was a walker. Stuck underneath parts of the ceiling that had crumbled down. The walker started to groan louder, reaching out to you to grab. You stood in front of it, shoving your machete down in it’s head. Giving it a twist so it surely was dead. Shane found one as well stuck as he knelt down, taking out his knife.
He stabbed it in the head. Blood spattering up. Shane wiped his knife clean on the walker’s dress. Shane and you rejoined in the middle of the room. – “All clear.” – he said making you nod. The two of you started to search for something to cause noise. – “What do you see in him anyways?” – Shane asked from across the room, going through some stuff.
“You mean what don’t I see in you?” – you responded back. Shane’s eyes widened brief, stopping his search, caught off guard. You came over to him. – “That’s what you want right? For many years now.” – you added finding something useful in a dusted box. An football horn, you so hoped still worked, but didn’t want to test out now. You showed Shane the horn as he came over to you.
Grabbing you tight by your arms. The way he stared at you, made you feel uneasy. His hard stare with that struggle deep inside of him. For a moment you thought he was going to kiss you forcefully. Having wanted nothing more. Ever since you were teens perhaps. The making fun of you, the teasing, always coming around.
It was clear now that he liked you but never dared to show it openly because of your brother. Now that he was older, his methods might have become more violent. Cursing at you and threating you bad just because he knew he never had a chance with you.
“What are you going to do.” – you dared him feeling him squeeze your arms tighter. – “Why can’t you just…” – Shane began nearing with his face. It made you gulp, thinking he might actually kiss you now. He kept coming closer with his face as it made you turn your head away. Shane’s forehead came in contact with your side as he shut his eyes hard. Then he tore himself away, taking the horn from you.
Letting out a loud breath, your heart was pounding. This could’ve taken a different direction. You followed Shane back out of the broken window. Jogging after him, you went further down the street to head into one of the next alleyways. Shane looked around and spotted a few cars parked in the middle of the road. He ran over to it, you right behind him.
Shane got up on the car, standing on the roof. He pressed on the horn as it let out a loud sound. Shit you thought, opening the car door and trying to see if the car worked. The walkers were alarmed. Groaning and calling it out as they collectively all turned towards the sounds. Shane horned again and long to lure them over. You kept turning the key, trying to start the car.
Looking briefly through the window, you saw the others carefully look before running across. This car was no use as you got out and went over to another car. Shane horned again, firing at some walkers that were coming near. Anxiously you were trying to start the next car. It was great that all the walkers were coming your way, but you still needed to escape. This car wasn’t working as well as you got back out and checked the hood. The engine stolen.
“Shane!” – you called out. Shane turned his head to you. – “None of them start!” – you yelled at him. Shane aimed his gun your way as you thought for a moment he was going to shoot you. His gun fired making you jump out of your skin. Then you heard a body drop to the ground. Looking over your shoulder you saw a walker down.
Gasping loud, you saw more walkers come from alleyways or hit their heads against glass to get to the noise. With no other way out, you climbed on the roof of the car with Shane. Taking out the gun Daryl had given you. You noticed Shane taking a moment to stare with wide eyes at it. – “Shut up.” – you said not wanting to hear complaints.
Some walkers were below at the car, swaying their arms around to grab for your feet. You started shooting at them. Each hit right through their skull. Shane blew the horn again luring more walkers to you. A walker threw himself on the hood, snapping his mouth around. Shane moved his arm over your shoulder, shooting at him. You shot a few by the trunk as their dark blood splashed the car. The space on the roof was just manageable for two if you didn’t move too much. You gulped feeling a hand grab at your ankle.
You felt yourself slip back off the roof. Before you could fall down reacted Shane. He had taken a hold of your wrist, holding you in place as your back dangled over the walkers. He pulled at your wrist, pulling up against his chest. With an arm around you, he continued to shoot around. Your heart was pounding still trying to recover from your almost fall.
The walkers were snapping their jaws at you and swaying their arms around. Gurgling loud with their calls. You so hoped they raided the place quick. Not sure how much longer you could hold them off. You fired at them one by one. They dropped down like flies but kept coming closer in tenfold. Shane stepped on a walker’s fingers as they reached the roof.
“Give me that horn.” – you told Shane. He gave it to you as you took a hairband from your wrist. You pressed the horn in, wrapping the hairband around it so it kept blowing. You were about to throw it away yourself, but offered it to Shane instead, knowing he might throw further than you. Shane accepted the blowing horn from you, throwing it further down the street. Some walkers were drawn to it that hadn’t smelled your flesh yet.
The others staid around the car, snapping beastly at the two of you. Shane and you fired at the remaining one’s. You furrowed your brows seeing a walker slide down the car side with an arrow in his head. Looking up, you saw Daryl, Glenn and your brother up ahead. They had come back from their raid. Rick was shooting as well, clearing a way for the two of you.
Walkers dropped down lifeless with each hit. Shane jumped off the roof first. You jumped after him, falling through your knees. Shane jerked you up by your arm. He then started running with you. The two of you met up with the others as Shane let go of you. You ran straight in Daryl’s arms, hugging him tight. Daryl exhaled relieved, hugging you back.
“Let’s go.” – Glenn called out knowing more would come soon. The five of you started to run back towards the alleyway. You were hallway through when a few walkers appeared on the other end. It made Glenn stop, you bumping against his back. – “Go back.” – he called out as you already turned around. Shane took about a few steps before he stopped. From the other side walkers now as well. They were closing in, having cut off your escape routes. – “Up!” – Rick called out seeing a ladder hanging a few feet above the ground.
Rick grabbed you, picking you up for you to reach the ladder. You grabbed it, pulling yourself up by your hands before your feet could touch the first step. After you, Rick helped Glenn up. Daryl didn’t need any help as he jumped grabbing the first step with his hands. Rick and Shane joined last climbing up to the roof. Up, you helped Glenn from the ladder.
Daryl, Rick and Shane joining moments later. Glenn looked down the alleyway, seeing the walkers cramped up together, arms up trying to grab for you all out of reach. – “How are we going to get to the car now?” – Glenn panicked with his hands in his hair. Rick stood by the edge, overlooking the town from above.
You looked around the rooftop trying to look for a way out. Daryl joined your side, pulling you closer to him for a moment. Over his shoulder, he glanced at Shane close to Rick. Wondering what had occurred when he wasn’t near. You checked your gun, seeing how many bullets you had left. It wasn’t enough, perhaps to kill a few walkers. Rick whistled loud to round you up. – “We either wait for it to calm down or we take a risk.” – Rick suggested.
“If we wait they’ll just keep roaming below mindlessly cause nothing attracts them anymore.” – Glenn answered. – “Glenn’s got a point.” – Daryl spoke in agreement. The five of you set out to look around the roof top for anything useful. You neared the side of the roof towards the back, feeling that the foundation beneath your feet didn’t feel stable.
Rick was nearing as you stopped him. – “Stop!” – you called out, standing completely still. Rick stopped confused, setting his foot back. – “It’s unstable.” – you explained standing in the middle of it. This part of the roof probably rotten from damp and rain. It wasn’t sturdy cement. The others neared as well, standing by Rick.
You tried to set a foot down back towards them, but felt the foundation crack underneath you. – “Careful.” – Glenn called out. Perhaps if you ran, you could outrun it crumbling away. Eyes locked on Daryl, he knew what you were going to do. He nodded holding his hands out to catch you if he needed too.
You started running towards him, feeling the foundation crack underneath you. The foundation sunk below you, making you leap for Daryl. Daryl sucked in a breath holding his arms further up to you. Your hand touched his hand, swiping down it as he couldn’t catch you in time.
The foundation gave way beneath you, getting sucked into the building. – “Noooo!” – Daryl called out as you screamed loud, disappearing into the gaping black hole. Swallowed by the gaping gap left by the rotten foundation. Your back hit the ground, leaving you in complete darkness.
