Sleepwalk by Forrest Day. Not sure I can explain exactly what all the meanings are, but it's one of those songs that gives me different vibes depending on what mood I'm in when I'm listening to it.

22. A song that moves you forward

Damage Gets Done by Hozier and Brandi Carlile. I have yet to listen to this song without getting a little teary eyed. It's just one of those tracks that's seeped in bittersweet nostalgia but still makes me feel optimistic about the future.

If I recall correctly, Admin Ten is the one who was local to the Florence Antique mall right? Do they have any suggested new spots to visit in that area? I've been aching to go thrifting again, but it kinda seems like all the places I go to are mostly just clothes :/

Admin Ten here. Yup, that was me. 🙂 And I haven’t found anything with quite the size and variety of the Florence Antique Mall that’s actually close. 😩

There’s Kelly’s Antique Shop on Dixie Highway in Florence which is one of those l’il overcrowded antique stores that make you feel like you might die in an antique avalanche, but has some interesting stuff. I haven’t been there in years, but it was p alright the last time I went.

If you’re willing to drive, the Ohio Valley Antique Mall up in Fairfield is really good. It has a really wide variety of vendors and is HUGE. And it’s close to Jungle Jim’s. 😂 Personally, I’ve gotten some cool stuff from there.

As far as straight up thrift stores go, the St. Vincent de Pauls in the area seem to have more interesting stuff than the Goodwills.

opinion on Kracko?

He's fine!

I really like what they did with him in TDX. His bossfight there used the foreground-background mechanics in a unique and interesting way, and the attacks they gave him are cool. (His DX design is also cool! I love the stripes!)

He was also neat in Epic Yarn. In that one, he's a miniboss in one of the rocket ship shooter levels, and he even gets his own music! (It's like a five second loop, but still-) As a whole, I really love the shooter levels in this series.

I think he's at his worst in Star Allies. They couldn't think of anything more interesting to do with him than add another one? Parallel Kracko is also boring and lame.

I think his design is fun, if a little generic. Like I said, they really nailed it in TDX. I'm also a sucker for anything with electricity powers, so that's a plus. Overall, I would say I think positively about this guy.

has anyone mentioned ianthe's flesh transplant arm as another example of sexual assault metaphor in tlt?harrow gets talked about a lot for obvious reasons but imo there's something there with ianthe as well, being forced to carry this (functionally dying/dead) limb that's been sewn into her body against her will and everyone else judging her for struggling with it until she literally tries to cut it out of herself. it would add a new layer to the bone arm scene, both as sex, as is usually interpreted, but also abortion and conception/birth.

(also idk where exactly this fits but something else about how cytherea severed her arm at the elbow but the transplant was attached at the shoulder so that even once she got autonomy back with the bone arm, she had still lost more than was originally taken)

anon this is WILD!!! i've thought before about how ianthe having an arm (whose arm, by the way?) attached to her body without her consent is just one of many autonomy violations we see in the series, but i had never connected it directly to the ever-present theme of reproduction and reproductive horror. this is absolutely blowing my mind.

this is a little more obvious, but i also just want to note while we're on the subject that ianthe's limb also seems to be an intentional parallel with the way that people who develop prosthetics make assumptions about the needs and wants of amputees; according to a 2022 survey, nearly half of upper-limb amputees end up abandoning their prosthetics. some amputees feel pressured into wearing realistic prosthetics to blend in, and people often end up feel hindered even by high-tech prosthetics. on top of being another example of a character suffering a severe violation of their autonomy, it's also an example of tamsyn's dedication to realistically portraying disabled characters, and (like with dulcinea and cytherea) it showcases the ableism built into the nine houses.
