Like he’d be such a proud dad🥰 Do you think he’d wear a pin? ‘Hi, this is Buck, my Bi son. He’s a firefighter.’

911 Thoughts
Haven't watched the new episode yet, so bare with me. I have some thoughts on the recent Bi-Buck stuff and they are semi conflicting and all over the place so I am putting it all in one post.
Firstly: The show has always been queer, it had gay characters since the start. I agree that it's not just gay now.
Buck being Bi is still amazing and huge. For many reasons: the figuring it out late rep, and the fact that we have seen hints for ages, we have all been here we have all seen it, and it finally happen. 7 Seasons in.
I do think it's good for Buck to explore dating men and figuring stuff out before jumping into buddie (if we are getting buddie)
I like Tommy. I think he and Buck have a nice chemestry.
I understand why people like the Even bit, but personal pet peeve. I hate when characters do that. Like at least give me a scene where Buck gets asked if he wants to be called Evan. I don't know I hate when someone has a prefer way to be called and then another character ingores that. At least give me a scene where he asks. Like ok I can assume Buck is ok with it and maybe he asked off screen, but like let me see it.
That said, it's not nearly as annoying then when Anna full named Eddie. That shit got my nerves. It felt like it was full naming him like you would a child who is in trouble.
Speaking of which: If no buddie, can we all agree that Eddie should be single. I don't know what it is about 911 that lets them write amazing female characters and then renders them unable to write a decent one for Eddie to play off, I don't know why someone that I know can have chemestry with women (Ryan Guzman) suddenly is unable to have any in this role. But it's painful to watch. The man has moved on from his dead wife, he just likes to be single. If the writers can't have a love interest that feels like it's there for more reasons then to remind people Eddie is straight by giving him emotional scenes with women instead of just with Buck then they just fucking need to stop and keep him single.
Like I said I like Tommy, and I do not think that Buck being Bi is useless or lessen if we don't get buddie.
That said if we are not getting buddie I will forever find it a little sus that they give Buck a male love interest that is so similar to Eddie.
I still want buddie. Not just because it's a ship between two main characters, who are equal in the series, and it would be the first gay ship between main characters in the show (SIDE NOTE: I can't help but notice that despite HenRen being amazing, they are the only major romantic relationship of the show that is One Main and One Side character, and it's the gay one. Like yes 911 has always been gay but it has not always been equal) but also beacause it would be first slow burn multi season gay ship in tv history (at least in the west).
Think about it, the hets have many ships like that, multi seasons arcs, slowly showing us them falling for each other. Pam and Jim; Booth and Bones; The main ships from Parks and Recs (I don't remember the names); Amy and Jake from B99. And many many more. But with gay ships if they are both main characters (rare) it always starts in the first season they got introuduced. Or they are already together, or they get a side character. I am not saying those are lesser ships, and sometimes that is the good choice for a show but I want my gay multi season slowburn (and don't say suprenatural I am not counting that)
GIVE ME DEMI EDDIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10 Characters, 10 Fandoms, 10 Tags
Good morning!
Tagged by @ghostoffuturespast on my main blog and both @seeker-of-truth and @ouroboros-hideout on my sideblog-- for the sake of keeping everything jointed I'll post this on my main lol.
Buckle in folks this one's a doozy.
Connor Kenway/Ratonhnhaké:ton (Assassin's Creed III)
Tumblr media
Even as the years go by, Connor was the character I made a Tumblr account for and pretty much the only reason I bother still paying attention to Assassin's Creed as a franchise anymore. I was there, man. I was there when everyone in the fandom and their mothers hated this guy, but I will still defend him even with my goddamn life. Characters that go through intense tragedy after intense tragedy and still come out the other side gentle and optimistic are my lifeblood.
2. Johnny Silverhand (Cyberpunk 2077)
Tumblr media
(People who follow me for my sideblog make a Surprised Pikachu Face at this placement) My gross rat bastard man I love you I hate you I love you. An intensely tortured character with arguably more negative personality traits than positive ones, but who he is and even why he is is so engaging and tragic that you almost forget he's supposed to be getting on your nerves for most of the game's runtime. Damn you Keanu Reeves and your effortless dorky charisma.
3. Arthur Morgan (Red Dead Redemption 2)
Tumblr media
Arthur baby you deserved the world. An insanely complex character with gray morals and a jaded worldview who could never do right no matter how hard he tried until the one moment where it mattered most. I loved John in RDR1 and didn't really expect to get so attached to Arthur, but R* truly did grab me by the shoulders and said "Bet, bitch". To this day, the fact that I never finished that 200k+ word OC fic disguised as an Arthur character study still haunts me.
4. Korra (Avatar: The Legend of Korra)
Tumblr media
As someone who'd watched the original Last Airbender series as it aired when I was a kid, I was super excited for a female Avatar when the series was announced back in...god, was I in high school? The point being-- when the show started really hitting it's stride with Korra's character in season 3 I was beyond hooked, and I loved season 4 probably a lot more than I think I should've, but MAN, was it a fun ride. Korra is a character and a show that both got severely panned and honestly I think once you get out of the mindset that you aren't watching Aang 2.0 you'll have a much funner time.
5. Steve Harrington (Stranger Things)
Tumblr media
Maybe not as much in later seasons when they really leaned off his popularity + Joe Keery's charisma, but lemme tell y'all season 2 Steve had me in a bonafide stranglehold for two years. "Character stepping up to a leadership role and then getting forcibly adopted by the people they're leading" is one of my favorite tropes and the reason that it worked so well in S2 is partly because the concern of Steve still kinda/sorta had the potential to swing back towards being the bully archetype he showed shades of in S1, so you got to see his relationship with the kids start off as kinda selfish but grow into a genuine protectiveness. GOD this was a top tier man y'all! We had it so good!
6. Rosa Diaz (Brooklyn 99)
Tumblr media
Maybe this is coming off the fact that my roommate and I literally just finished binge watching B99 for like the fifth time? But I forgot how much I actually really liked Rosa. One of the best sitcom deadpan snarkers of recent years and I personally liked that they affirmed that she didn't need to see herself settling down to be happy. I'm glad this role basically launched Stephanie Beatriz's career because she truly is the unsung hero of this show's comedy and heart and never really gets enough credit for it imho.
7. Melissa Schemmenti (Abbott Elementary)
Tumblr media
Every single time I watch Abbott Elementary. Every. Single. Time. Someone looks at me when Schemmenti appears on screen and goes "Wow, she acts a lot like you do!". And I have to sigh and nod and pretend I don't see it lol. Though unfortunately our differing football opinions means we would probably end up in a fistfight.
8. Takashi "Shiro" Shirogane (Voltron: Legendary Defender)
Tumblr media
I will never forgive the VLD showrunners for dropping a nuke on Shiro's character development. Seasons 1-2 Shiro was some of most fun I've ever had following a protagionist's journey to conquer his inner struggles and solely for that, I still have a massive soft spot for him. Dreamworks think about how you massacred my boy and feel bad for it.
9. Benjamin "Benji" Ovich (Beartown Series)
Tumblr media
This gif is from the HBO Nordic series (haven't watched it, desperately still want to, don't know if I even can at this point lol), but I'm specifically talking about Benji from the Beartown book trilogy. He evolves into the series deuteragonist alongside Maya and god, he is just such a tragic character who deserves all the world and more. Go read Beartown and scream at me for it.
10. Joey Tribbiani (Friends)
Tumblr media
"Characters I See a Lot of Myself In 2: Electric Boogaloo". Joey is the best friend in the entire cast there I said it. Honestly my ideal relationship is a funny overly-assured man who loves the New York Rangers, loves his friends intensely, and has dumb himbo energy. The loud Italian family is just an added bonus.
Uhhhhh who hasn't been tagged yet sorry guys I was late to the party on this one lmao.

in light of a post i just saw about cuddy, i’m inspired to do this (keep in mind i’m still on season 6)
characters who weren't given enough spotlight (and totally deserved it):
1. cuddy: obviously she's number one, she carried the show and we barely saw her side of the story (until she dated house ig)
2. foreman: like come ON what a fucking character and for most of the seasons we learn nothing about him, only when he's dating thirteen or when he almost dies
3. kutner: and you damn know it, the best character of the show and we literally saw nothing about him, i’m mad we can barely remember good things about him because he was always thrown around like a background character
4. amber: she deserved to stay throughout the entire season 4, even when she was eliminated. she was such an interesting character, so different from any other but they hid her until her relationship was brought up (and then you know what happened)
5. bonnie: hear me out, i know she was never intended to be a regular character or something but, besides sam, she's the only part of wilson's past we got to see and it was fantastic, i wish they had brought her up more often
6. nolan: all the episodes of house and nolan were AMAZING, and though i know his character was supposed to help house, i wish we could have seen some more insight (like b99, if u know what i mean)
7. alvie: i live for his friendship with house and i’m unironically a fan of lin manuel miranda and i adore how he barely acted. like alvie IS lin and i’m obsessed with how different he was from house

Yeah I always wonder about the rapid disappearance of the b99 fandoms. Especially when compared to the Office and Parks which still have active fandoms. I wonder if it's in part due to the copaganda thing?
Hi Nonnie! Thanks so much for this ask, because I have a lot of thoughts!
The short of it is:
tl;dr I think the B99 fandom disappeared so quickly because of its fan culture--which meant B99 was heavily criticized for its copaganda elements and meant that fans were more likely to move on after the show finished its run. But I still think there are other factors at play I haven't identified.
Here's the long of it:
Yes, I do think it's partly because of the copaganda thing. I think Brooklyn Nine Nine will have less staying power culturally because it's a show about cops that finished airing right as the USA (and the world) was reckoning with the massive institutional racism and corruption of policing. And fair enough, if people don't feel like watching a comedy show about police officers right now (or ever).
(If you're interested in my take on the copaganda discussion, I wrote this response back ~2018. While my thoughts have changed slightly, I still stand by most of this. My tl;dr is that b99 both subverts a lot of copaganda tropes, and simultaneously plays into some of those tropes, by virtue of what it is. And I respect anyone's personal decision of how to engage with b99.)
That being said, I do think Brooklyn Nine Nine was subject to a disproportionate amount of copaganda criticisms in comparison to other cop shows, likely because of two reasons:
B99 was actually trying to address social issues, including racism and corruption in policing. This meant that they could be criticized because they weren't unaware of the issues. You can hardly criticize your run of the mill cable cop procedural--it would never be interested in changing or engaging with any criticism. It might not even be aware of its own copaganda content. B99 was. And therefore it was always going to criticized more heavily, and quite frankly, it was always going to fail to some degree. Because there's just no way a comedy about cops can (or should) address the deep and horrific racism, corruption, and discrimination that policing upholds.
Furthermore, b99 had a very progressive fan culture. The show got popular partly because of the way it addresses social issues. A really big talking point about b99 at the beginning was the diversity in its cast, in both race and gender. (Before Gina left and Hitchcock and Scully got promoted to main cast, 3/7 main characters were women). The show attracted a young, progressive fanbase that cared a lot of the show's politics in addition to its comedy. There was a lot of weight on b99 to be Good, both in a moral and comedic sense. So of course, it was criticized more heavily by its fanbase about its role in copaganda. (This isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I think a lot of it was good and I don't think we would've got the ending we did--with Jake leaving the force--without the pressures of this fanbase. But that being said, I do think by the end b99 sometimes collapsed under its own pressure to be Good. Again, it was always going to fail to some degree just because of what b99 was vs. what it was expected to achieve.)
However, I don't think that copaganda criticisms is the only reason the Brooklyn Nine Nine fandom disappeared.
There had always been those discussions around the show, and while they were renewed in the wake of the massive Black Lives Matter protests in June 2020, the final season didn't air until a year and a half later. By the time Season 8 was airing, the fanbase that remained had already come to a personal decision about how they wanted to engage with the show (and clearly that they wanted to keep watching it and engaging in fandom).
The fandom was very active on tumblr through the airing of the last season. People were running events like the b99 trivia nights and fanfic challenges and gift exchanges. There was a discord (or maybe a few) that were quite active and social. Gifmakers, fanfic writers, fan artists etc. were all very active. Meta got traction on tumblr.
In March 2022, there was a b99 reunion fan work event. (I wrote ficlets for each of the daily challenges). It got a bit of attention, iirc, but the fandom was already feeling markedly smaller. A few months later and it felt like it had really started to disappear.
Which is not to say it's gone!! There are still active b99 blogs here. And by no means am I the definitive source of knowledge on the b99 fandom--I was always kinda on the periphery of the most popular fans and mainstream fan spaces here. There may be some fans and fan content currently I'm unaware of. I also can't speak at all on fandom outside of tumblr/ao3 spaces. BUT, I can say without question that fandom is much, much smaller and way more inactive than it was a year or a year-and-a-half ago.
I'd guess it also has something to do with newer fan culture--I think younger/newer fans tend to switch fandoms quicker and don't stick around in fandoms that no longer have new canon. (This is very different from the Veronica Mars and Buffy fandoms I came up in, both of which maintained robust fandoms years after there was new canon).
But I always think there are some other factors at play that I just can't put my finger on. If anyone else has thoughts and wants to chime in, I'd love to hear it! (And kudos to you for reading this giant essay).

Comfort Friendship Groups <3
The loft gang - New Girl
What I'd do to play a game of True American with them
Tumblr media
2. The study group- Community
This show is one of the best-found family shows. The group dynamics are just so amazing. Even the additional new characters such as Chang, Dean, and the replacement characters.
Tumblr media
3. The kids and teens - Stranger Kids
Friends who fight interdimensional monsters together are the cutest. I just love their dynamics so much. Honestly, the friendship was the reason season 1 was so good. I wish it was more highlighted in the new season.
Tumblr media
4. The kid group from Recess
Their friendship always stood out to me when I was younger.
Tumblr media
5) The Police Squad - B99
The fact that every character has a fleshed-out dynamic with everyone makes me so happy. And male and female friendships that are just platonic? YES
Tumblr media
6. The Good place - Michael, Janet and their humans
They are the most random people and nonpeople. But they fit with each other so well.
Tumblr media
7. The murder podcast group- Only Murders from the building
Two old men and one sarcastic brunette? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP
Tumblr media
8. Derry Girls
I love my chaotic Irish girls and the one English boy so much
Tumblr media
9. Sex and the city squad
The iconic New York Squad
Tumblr media
10. Scrubs Doctor Squad
The people who can put up with JD and Elliot deserve all the awards. I couldn't find a gif but this mention includes Dr Cox, Jordan, Dr Kelso, Nurse Roberts, Bob, Janitor, Doug even Todd
