he made his way back into the afternoon sun, running through possible explanations in his mind: maybe richie and stan had broken up and hadn’t told the losers yet? or maybe eddie was jumping to conclusions about what he had seen, and this was normal platonic behavior for bev and richie? after all, he was sure they had made out several times before richie and stan had gotten together, and even then they had never claimed to have feelings for each other. eddie shook his head. these were his best friends, and he knew what he saw.

eddie is pretty sure he's noticed that something is going on between richie and beverly. now, normally, this wouldn't be a problem — if richie weren't already dating stan.

It seems some people don’t see the issue with this, which is actually MIND BAFFLING. Richie Tozier is a canonically GAY man. You cannot ship a gay man with a woman. You are taking away representation if you do this. Book and 1990 bevchie are a different story, since he does actually like females in those ones. As a pensexual myself it feels wrong for you to make someone who is already in the lgbtq community something they’re not to fit your own representation. You are taking a minority out of their subgroup to fit into a different subgroup, therefore taking the representation away from the original. And I’ve gotten a few people saying that ship discourse hasn’t been a thing in this fandom for a while, and to that I say please get off of tumbler because it’s literally EVERYWHERE else. I’ve seen so many arguments about IT ships I couldn’t even count them. I know some people don’t like drama like this but I will not just sit and watch someone so wrongfully do this without even thinking about the seriousness of it. If you do this please get off my page, I refuse to interact with people who think it’s okay to make a canonically gay man “bi” or “straight” because they want to fangirl over some ship.

I don’t know why, but I don’t like Bevichie. Not referring to the ship. They definitely bond over mutual protectiveness of Eddie and smoking together. I’m talking about the ship name itself. I’m not sure why, but it sounds… weird to me. If that’s the right word

Hmm, I haven't heard Bevichie before. Only Bevchie. I've also seen Marshzier floating around but I like the sound of Bevchie better and so that's the one I go with. But hey, if you come up with something you like the sound of better - start using it. You never know, it might catch on.

p.s. I personally think Bevchie's bond goes way beyond smoking and Eddie-protectiveness though. Bev is the first girl that Richie was both attracted to and yet thought of as a mate as well. His tween brain couldn't quite compute it but he went along with it anyway. Bev was cool, Bev was hip, Bev could yo-yo, Bev was the best sharp-shooter out of all of them, Bev wasn't afraid to tell the other stuck-up girls who teased her where to stick it.

And from Bev's side, RIchie is safety and joy all wrapped up into one small bespectacled goober package. He's one of the males in her life whose intentions she doesn't have to question. He would never knowingly hurt her and would literally do anything to make her smile and laugh.

Not to mention they are totally the mischief-makers of the group.

no joke I can see it happening I think they’d be a really cool couple

my first opinion about them is that they’re the ultimate platonic partner-in-crime duo bc Bev and Richie in his place when he misbehaves but also tolerates and shares his sense of humor. they’re such dorks together it’s adorable

Romantically there’s definitely a chance since most of us are coding Richie as bisexual but I personally don’t “actively” ship it.
