i legit love this so much
From the beginning, Jack was very clear with you about keeping your relationship a secret from your brother. You told him countless times that Nico was harmless, but Jack couldn’t be convinced.
Maybe Nico showed the boys a different side of him in practice and in game, but you knew him as your lovable older brother.
Until Jack had told you a few weeks into your relationship that you were off limits to him, you didn’t even know Nico talked about you to the team at all.
When he introduced you to Jack during family skate a few months back, you immediately took a liking to him.
He was funny and easy to talk to, although apprehensive to get too close to you because of Nico’s supposed “threats.”
Over the past few months, you’d gotten to know Jack better and started a secret relationship. A lot of the time, sneaking around was hot, and the thrill of potentially getting caught fueled your desire, but you were getting restless.
You hadn’t said it to each other, but you loved Jack. You were serious about him and you knew he felt serious about you. You felt guilty hiding something you loved so much from your brother, who you obviously loved the most and told almost everything to.
That led you to tonight. You, the WAGs, and the team were out celebrating at a bar after a big win.
With a mixture of alcohol and the restlessness previously mentioned, you were being a little bit riskier than usual.
“Jack,” you said, tugging on his sleeve. “Jack, pay attention to me.”
He turned his head, his eyes locking onto yours, his mouth parted. “I am, baby.”
Uh oh. Jack was drunk too, and he didn’t even notice when he let the word slip. Ignoring the looks on Luke’s and Dawson’s faces, you giggled, taking his hand and pulling it around your shoulders, pressing your body into his side.
“If you were,” you teased, dragging out the last word and interlocking your fingers with his. You made an effort to whisper, but it came out louder than you intended. “You’d know I wanna be in your bed right now.”
“Jesus,” Breathed out Jack shamelessly. “I’ll take you there right now, say the word, honey.”
Nico had made it to the table, and at this point in the conversation, he heard pretty much everything he shouldn’t have.
Luke eyed Nico’s shocked expression. “I need to excuse myself,” he said awkwardly, tapping Dawson’s shoulder, signaling him to follow him and leaving Nico alone with you and Jack.
Both of you remained oblivious to your brother, too wrapped up in each other and the alcohol. It wasn’t until he cleared his throat that you realized he was standing there.
You took your eyes off of Jack but didn’t step from him. “Oh, hi, Neeks. This is my boyfriend, Jack. Do you know him?”
Jack, on the other hand, sobered up pretty quickly when he saw Nico, and immediately dropped his arm from your shoulder.
“I know him, but I’m not really sure why you’re dating him,” Nico joked, sounding pretty unaffected.
“Are you mad?” Jack asked quickly, like a child asking a parent for forgiveness.
“Why would I be mad?” Nico asked.
Jack gestured to you, pointing back and forth between you like it was obvious. “‘Cause she’s off limits, according to you.”
“I only said that so nobody would bother her, but I don’t think you’re bothering her.” Nico shrugged, nonchalantly sipping his beer.
“Can I say something?” you interjected, raising your hand. “I totally knew you’d be cool with this because you’re the best brother ever.” You rounded the table and practically launched yourself onto Nico, completely disregarding the fact that he was holding a drink.
“Okay, time for you to go home,” Nico laughed, setting his spilt beer bottle on the table and patting your back. He glared at Jack from over your shoulder. “You’re not taking her, though. I don’t mind if you date her, just never talk to her like that in front of me and we won’t have a problem.”
Jack’s face burned red at the thought of the conversation that Nico overheard. “Sorry, Cap.”
Nico nodded, his glare replaced with a pleasant smile and he guided you to the bar’s exit, much to your dismay.

Hey, can you... you know.
Mha
Tokoyami and Tsu
Oo, I haven't written for these darlings in awhile! I've gotcha covered, Sarah! :D
It's Love: "Hey could you...you know..?"
“Hey Fumi, can you…you know..” When Tokiyama looked at her, the frog hero’s face was pinched, brows furrowed as she tapped her fingers against her book.
Sometimes after long study sessions, she’d have what she declared to be “brain glitches” and temporarily forget what she was going to ask. He learned it’s better to give her a minute to remember than try to guess. “I..forgot what I was going to say.”
“Seems the silence of the library stole the words from your lips, seeking a voice of its own.” He hummed in his cup, watching his friend go from perplexed to thoughtful. How she was able to make sense of anything he said amazed him some days.
“Probably…OH!” She clapped her hands, twisting in her seat so fast it startled him. “I remember now! Dark shadow- can you let him out?”
“...Why?” He raised a suspicious brow, his tension not easing at her cheeky smile.
“What? Can’t I say hi to him? I’m sure he’s dying to come out, no?”
Tokiyami thought about it, then nodded. Dark Shadow appeared not long after, stretching out with a happy chirp. “Fumi! What’s-TSU!” The quirked beast practically lunged at her, wrapping his shadowy arms around her waist and snuggling into her lap. She giggled, running her fingers through the spikes along his head.
“Hi, Dark Shadow. Aren’t you sweet today?”
“He sure is..” Tokiyami tried not to let it show how her touch affected him. Tsu knew full well he could feel everything Dark Shadow felt. He thanked his lucky stars he could hide his growing blush beneath black feathers.
What he couldn’t hide was the startled smile growing when she started scratching gently into Dark Shadow’s neck and back. “T-Tsu!”
“Hm? What is it?”
“You knohohw what!”
“Do I?” She was grinning now, intentionally tickling along the spots she knew Tokiyami was weak. “Don’t tell me- does it tickle?”
“Yohohohoou knohohow it doooohohoes!” He shank in his chair, arms crossing over his torso in a vain attempt to stop the ghost tickles. “Tsuuhuhuhuhuh! chiiirp Pleahhhahah-aahhhahahse! Chiiiiirp!”
“Hehe, Fumi’s cute when he laughs. Oh yeah, right there..” Dark Shadow pressed his face further into Tsu’s hand as she gave his chin a scritch, even if it left his master a chirping mess of giggles on the ground nearby. “I like when you do this.”
“Hehe, me too.” Tsu agreed with a happy croak, smiling warmly at Tokiyami as he laughed himself silly. “And you're right- he’s really cute.”
Send me a candy heart and I'll write a dabble for it!

Okay, so being at home (and ill!) has given me some time to organize my thoughts ahead of time for 2024, because I want to clean house a little bit across the board. Consider this a little informative post that'll simultaneously function as my to-do list to complete by the end of the year. In essence, I've seen the phrase 'do what makes you happy' enough times in the last year and a half to two years, that I think it's time for my donkey-level stubborn self to finally listen to it. So I'm going to do just that, and also, I'm going to clean house. In order of importance, where you'll find me most commonly, and what I'll work on getting up and running, this is the game plan:
Yelan: This one will hold most of my priority by a landslide. Fontaine, let's go.
Kafka: I have numerous starters/replies/meta and replies waiting, and these are not on hold out of disinterest; I simply need to organize/give into my priorities. Kafka is near and dear to me, but Genshin as a whole is more my home than Star Rail. Bear with me, I have every intention of running her alongside Yelan).
Me at self: Old theme/resources blog (x) needs urgent work.
And then, I have the secondary game-plan:
— Guizhong: She'll return, but I'm, very sadly, in a little bit of a mental lock here. Stay tuned!
— Zhongli: This is the big surprise, I suppose. I'm finally giving in. He may not come very soon as my current focus very much lies with Yelan in specific, but especially when Lantern Rite 2024 inevitably hits, I know the tears will fall, my heart will warm and I will be a mess. There were a plethora of reasons as to why I never made him, but— times and things change, friends are joining the Genshin crew (hi Lottie, I love you) and now, there's so much reason to. Besides, how can I not write the man who's kept the dream alive? Stay tuned x2.

Y'all wanna know why I ended up doing Sicktember against my better judgment? Because while deliberating if I wanted to attempt another year by going over my old writing, I discovered there are exactly 30 fandoms/AUs that I've written in the past that I wanted to write more of in the future. As a person who strongly believes in "signs", that was too obvious to pass up.
All that to say: you will see nearly every fandom and AU that I've previously written for in this year's Sicktember. Exactly one prompt for each, no repeats. Some of these I haven't written for in over a year or more, some I feel like I haven't stopped writing for. There's plotty stuff for some of the OCs and silly things for some of the fandoms. It's such a crazy mix and it's been so fun to put together. I hope knowing that you'll probably see your favorite fandoms or OCs of mine helps give you some of the excitement I've had for months!
Tapping into so many different worlds and characters back to back to back, not to mention being under a deadline, stretches my creative muscles in ways that nothing else can. I'm so thankful for this platform where I've been able to post my writing and grow my skills. I'm thankful for you all that read my stuff. There's just something about writing to an audience, even a small one, that takes writing from a hobby to an experience.
If you read this whole post, thank you. If you've ever read my stuff, thank you. If you plan to read my Sicktember stuff, thank you!! Feel free to send asks or DMs to let me know what you're looking forward to 😊

WHEN: October 31st, 2022
WHERE: Helloween Masquerade
WHO: @alilbirdiebaker
Birdie and Lixin had already paid the entrance fee. Thoroughly, one might add. Lixin wouldn’t add that as it seemed to crass for his nature, but it was true all the same. Something about the night has made his mind fuzzier, lighter than it had been even pre-kidnapping. The person he was tonight, beneath a smooth mask, and borrowed suit, couldn’t even remember who he might have been before. Especially with Birdie’s hand clasped firmly in his own, their bodies constantly brushing as they pushed and pulled their way through the room. Time was ticking. Lixin blocked it out.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so beautiful in my entire life.” There was childlike wonder in his face, his eyes. Reverence in his voice. How much had he missed out on simply out of fear or duty? Too much, he decided. It was time to let go. “Where should we go first? The bonfire? The circus? It’s almost too overwhelming to choose.”
