I know your on a break from requests but I don’t want to forget this one, so I’m just gonna leave it here till your back to taking requests ☺️
The butts and cons reacting to An adult buddy who is an archeologist and actively studies and learns the cybertronian language and history. A buddy who is in charge of a team that travels around the world too study history. And she has studied the cybertronian language so much that she can read and write it, she can sort of speak it aswell.
I can’t stop thinking about this, especially because I love the idea of a certain archivist (Optimus) and archeologist/historian buddy having little knowledge sharing conversations…..possibly romance 😏
But you do you boo
Tried going for a pre romantic vibe for this one. Optimus deserves a friend to just be himself around. Introvert to introvert levels of friendship. Lets see how Buddy navigates their friendship with Prime.
Hope you enjoy!
Human Buddy the archivist and who studies Cybertronian culture with Optimus Prime
SFW, slight romantic, platonic, Human reader
Buddy was an archivist that worked alongside Agent Fowler. They met while they worked as a former spy for the government that retired that life to pursue their passion.
They met the bots with him.
“Autobots. I’d like you to meet a friend of mine that will be working with you. This is former agent Buddy.”--Fowler
“Why bring us a former agent, Agent fowler?”--Ratchet
“Because ratchet, they are in charge of learning about your culture and in charge of helping you all learn about Earth’s culture.”--Fowler
“…Are they okay?”—Bulkhead
Buddy staring intently at Optimus’s frame.
“What do you—Buddy, Buddy no—”--Fowler
Buddy locking eyes with Optimus.
Optimus locking optics on Buddy.
Both-- Introvert radar on: Potential Friend spotted.
“Well good luck with that. See you all in 5.”--Fowler
“Wait what do you mean? Agent? Agent!”--Ratchet
It was Budy’s job to get to know the giant aliens more. They would be lying if they said they didn’t enjoy learning about the bots culture. They had gotten to know the members of the misfit team through the years. Sure, it did lead to some misadventures along the way, especially when the kids came along…
“Beeep? (Buddy, can I ask you a question?)”—Bumblebee
“Sure Bee! What’s your question?”—Buddy
“Beeep bep bop? (What does ‘babygirl’ mean? I heard Miko saying that to Jack.)--Bumblebee
“… Where’s Miko?”—Buddy
Despite this, they especially hit it off with Optimus.
Buddy seemed to have awaken Orion Pax from time to time with their thirst for knowledge.
Prime and Buddy by the screens looking at Iacon records.
“By the Primes…”--Ratchet
“What is it?”--Arcee
“I think I know why Agent Fowler said, ‘good luck’.”--Ratchet
“Why? They seem to be fine? What harm is that?”—Arcee
“Do you think it’s in section 3ab part 4 sub article 15?”—Buddy
“No, maybe in section 3.4 ab part 5 sub article 16?”—Optimus
“Oh, true maybe its—“--Buddy
“There’s two of them now.”--Ratchet
The Prime is more than happy to share his planet’s culture alongside the rest of the team. But those moments are usually reserved for the two of them.
It was their thing.
Soon enough the kids and June came into the picture.
Buddy wasn’t going to lie and say it was easy to explain their job to them. But the sight on their faces when they would go in depth about a certain topic was priceless. It was always nice to have someone interested in this line of work.
“You know you can ask Bulkhead about this stuff, right?”--Buddy
“That’s right you can ask me about stuff.”--Bulkhead
“Yeah but some of the stuff you weren’t there and Buddy is pretty much a walking wiki page on Cybertronian history.”--Miko
“I’m not sure whether to take that as a compliment or not? But thank?”--Buddy
“If you want history why don’t you ask Ratchet or Prime?”--Bulkhead
“I want a quick story not a university lecture.”--Miko
Now, did all this knowledge make them a bit bias about the war.
Yes, yes it did.
But Buddy wasn’t blind in the way stories go.
They secretly want the Cons input on the war and their beliefs. They have lost count of the number of times they have stood up for the bots against other humans.
The worst one came from June after she tried to take the kids away from the base and blaming the bots for letting them get hurt on their watch.
“June stop that right now!”--Buddy
“Why! They let the kids get hurt on their watch!”--June
“I understand your concern but let them off the hook a little okay!? They don’t have optics in the back of their helms you know!”--Buddy
“They still—”--June
“We are at war June! Whether you want to open your eyes to it or not! People are going to get hurt. No one can promise a safe return… no one can. So, for the love of Primus, June, shut it.”--Buddy
Optimus never saw the fury in Buddy’s eyes than in that moment. Nonetheless he is a bit grateful for them standing up while he tries to take that blame. The team does let Buddy know they appreciate them.
Buddy did get kidnapped one day by Megatron himself.
By the time the planned hostage negotiations were going to happen, Megatron had gotten a hit of nostalgia. It came in the form of his tiny hostage.
“So, you’re Megatron?”--Buddy
“Yes, I am. Now—”--Megatron
“Oh finally! You have no idea how long I’ve actually wanted to meet you.”--Buddy
“…What—”--Megatron
“I have so many questions to ask you and your cause.”--Buddy
“You want to know about the Decepticon cause?--Megatron
“Yes! I mean, I know pretty much what the autoboots have had to say, I want to know the war from your causes point of view. For example, how did it start? From what I heard, you wanted to bring a new change for your fellow Cybretronian were things were going to be better for everyone. And, not to embarrass you or anything, but I quoted some of your earlier works—”--Buddy
Megatron now looking at a smaller Orion Pax talking about his works.
“… Pax.”--Megatron
“I—what?”--Buddy
“You’re designation now is Pax.”--Megatron
“Oh I guess—”--Buddy
“Come with me Pax, I have plenty of Decepticon data pads that you can look over.”--Megatron
“Okay!”--Buddy
Megatron couldn’t bring himself to destroy the fleshy. They were an organic replica of how Orion Pax was before the war. Dare he say it, but he missed the smaller bot he once knew and grew to call brother. He can’t do it.
“Lord Megatron, may I be so bold—”--Starscream
“You may not.”--Megatron
“—as to ask you why the organic is doing with that data pad?”--Starscream
“They wanted to learn more about our cause, isn’t that right Pax?”--Megatron
“I finished with this one, may I have another one?”--Buddy
“Of course, Soundwave.”--Megatron
Soundwave passes another data pad to ‘Pax’.
“Thank you!”--Buddy
“…Did you name the organic Pax?”—Starscream
“Is that a problem Starscream?”—Megatron
“Of course not—“—Starscream
“Then silence. Come now Pax.”--Megatron
“All right then. Bye Soundwave! By Starscream!”—Buddy
“…What in the Pits…”—Starsceam
Megatron didn’t want to seem like a weakling to his army, so he decided to do the hostage video but as soon as he got what he came for, to split with Pax.
Optimus was furious to hear about Megatron’s negotiations and that he had Buddy. Everyone was angry and ready to get Buddy back. Prime is considering the possibility of cutting off more than Megatron’s arm this time around.
Everyone goes to the location where Megatron said the negotiations would be held.
Its to everyone surprise to see Buddy come out of the ground bridge with a little bit of scratches here and there.
“Buddy!”--Everyone
“Hey! How’s everyone?”--Buddy
“How did you escape?”--Ratchet
“Oh, I didn’t.”--Buddy
“You did not?”--Optimus
“No, actually I managed to strike a deal with ol’ Megs. I get to go back to you on the condition that I return to the Nemesis every month or so. And before you say anything, no details from either side.”--Buddy
“Well, we’re just happy your back.”--Bulkhead
Later…
“Hey Optimus.”--Buddy
“Yes?”--Optimus
“I didn’t know that Megatron had a soft spot for nerdy archivists.”--Buddy
“… Apparently he does.”--Optimus
“What are you guys talking about?”--Miko
“Lecture work.”--Buddy

"What if I'm a Decepticon now? What is Alpha Trion then? I was blind listening to you, it's time to overthrow the old system by force, since without violence they cannot be persuaded to stop oppressing the population from the lower castes!", - Orion Pax exclaimed.
Tumblr media
Yes, in one of my AU, everyone's favorite Orion Pax defected to the Decepticons, Megatron is happy, thanks to Orion Pax, he will be able to get the Leadership Matrix and capture the entire CYBERTRON!! Ahahaha! Yes, I will always be a villain, baby!

How Do You Feel, Senator?
“Senator.”
The only sound in the room. In the universe, that voice. He knew that voice. Through the pain of the void, through the darkness that had been light, horribly blinding through the agony that was the universe, he knew that voice.
He did not remember the first time he had ever heard it, but he did recall the first time he had heard it in recent memory. Amid the screams and pleas for mercy that he knew were his own, but that voice cut through them easily.
“You ask for mercy, Senator? You, who have done so much? So much evil, and foolishness, so much distress and pain to our glorious world? After everything you have done, everything you have been warned about, you ask for mercy?”
His mind was fogged from the pain, despite the stims. More than once, perhaps, if he ached his mind, which felt emptier (which made no sense. It was his head they had replaced, and his hands, not his mind, but his mind felt emptier. It had to be the pain.) he could remember each stab of each stimulant: once in his head, between his optics (where they had been. The one brilliance he had seen since the universe went dark had not been from two optic sensors, but one central one. Depth perception was possible still but off, as if the rooms he knew all his life were now askew.), four in his chest cavity, and one per upper arm. Those had been the last ones, the stimulant once warm with the first injections, now cold, as if the changes of his body, of the universe, had made other changes.
But he did know that he had asked. Begged, really. Screamed for mercy, not for himself, at least at first. But going with the guards to the Institute, knowing where he was going, his last words.
Remember me as I was.
Sentinel’s guards. He had seen them over the course of his life, but they were overall interchangeable; the one thing that did not change was their nature and loyalty. The cuffs had not been very tight, and none of them had said a word, other than some mumbled laughs he supposed were to make him panic. But he knew what was coming.
At least he had thought he had known. But it would not be, he knew, so bad. It would be agony, but he had survived pain before. He knew he would be a pariah, but that was also not new. After it was over, those who had stood by him at his zenith of power would still, if worthy, stand by him. He did not much care for the rest, but he knew some of them, like Orion Pax, would be worthy. Might even, fools they, be trying to mount a rescue. But he had gone, he had surrendered, he had known what was coming.
At times it was not reassuring to be wrong.
His Academy was not fully in ruins at the time he was marched in to the Institute; at the time he had, foolishly, had some hope of a rescue still. It was the kind of thing Pax would try. It was not until he made a light comment about always wanting to visit the Institute that one of the new guards had laughed, saying this was an Institute; it amused the Council to let the world believe there was one. There were far more.
He had known what was coming. But the removal of his hands, so prized, and his head (and how vain he was, he had tried to make another light joke if he could choose his optic color not to clash with his new head. Had it been then, or before then, how long ago had Proteus decided his real fate?) was known. The first beatings from the guards, overseen by Proteus, watching on high, as his prized paint job was scorched, his body crushed and whipped before being strapped to an operating table, and he had not begged for mercy then.
It was not until the live feed played that he had, words stumbling and broken as he plead, and screamed, begging while knowing it was fruitless, it was useless, seeing his beloved Academy being burnt down. He did not see Orion Pax there, but he saw others. His carefully picked teachers and aides and assistants on their knees, hands open and empty of weapons, most of them mad with fear as the executioners blew their faces away. Students trying to escape the burning building from doors welded shut, from windows shattered open, and most were gunned down where they struggled and screamed as they were burned alive.
“Every form has a function. Every form has a purpose. Your behavior is unbecoming of a senator, and for this, for your crimes against Cybertron and her people, you must be punished.” Had Proteus said that, or Sentinel? It did not matter anymore.
He had heard another word during the rest of it, the live dismantling of his body, the rebuilding that started at his pedes and worked up, and then stopped for his neck, his head. The pain perhaps increased with the stims; he could not know, only that the silences of it were brief. At some point his vocal cords were sliced; when they were repaired, he nearly broke them again from the pressure.
Empurata. That word he knew. That word was burned in his spark, in his wrists where the restraints barely held him down from his frantic struggles during the first cuts. That was intentional too. But there was another word.
Shadowplay.
It was just a word, of course, but it had been Proteus who told him with a voice dripping in malice. Personality adjustment. Change management. “Your function will not be impaired. Your unbecoming conduct will be only a memory.”
The most ambitious cerebral engineering attempt ever made.
Proteus had patted him on the shoulder with those words. “Consider yourself lucky, senator.”
Proteus had forced his optic open then; with the stim jammed into his arm then, Proteus’ face was all the senator could see, framed by a glowing halo, a series of lights all over the operating room ceiling. “Lesser Councilmechs wanted you dead. But I see your function as important. You are a senator, but burdened with dissidence. You begged for mercy for so many days, you have finally reached the peak of it.”
The second stim jammed into his other arm; he had no mouth, no vocal cords, to scream as he felt the pressure of another scalpel in his circuitry, and still Proteus spoke in his calm voice. His optics, his voice, filled the senator’s world.
“Your emotional outbursts will plague Cybertron, and you, no longer. You will never have an emotional response to anything ever again.”
He did not count the snips as he felt them, as he felt each twist, each turn blink from existence with each careful cut of the blade, and then the darkness collapsed over his optic again, his last knowing sight was of Proteus leaning back, and a handful of bloody circuits in his hands.
“Perhaps I should let you keep these with your blasted head.” That had been the last thing the senator had heard before the screws pierced his audios, as the operators finished the adjustments on his new faceless head.
“Senator. Are you awake? ….prep a stim, medic.”
“I am awake. There is no need.” He had not known he could or would speak, or what he would say, until the words broke free. It was his voice. His audios, distorted as they were, felt it was his voice. The first time hearing it now, flat and even and cold, should have alarmed him. But he was beyond such things now; he had felt each of those emotions die.
“Good.” Proteus’ own voice was twisted in humor. “Release the restraints, medic. Senator, get up.”
He felt his optic flicker on, the room a dizzying off gray as the support on him fell aside; for one moment he felt he would simply fall to the floor, the pain of the universe would break on the floor so easily, but instead one cumbersome pede reached, clunking hard on the ground, then the second, and despite the gray of the room, he looked up; color slowly faded in, but there was no pleasure in it.
Most of the medic bots had been put aside now, but there was a great deal of offal about still, much of the armor streaked with mech blood, but under it was visible white still, vaguely blue in parts. His old armor. His dead body.
“How do you feel, senator?” Said to his side, and he turned his body, wary and realizing he had near doubled in size in his torso, and he looked at Proteus, his single yellow optic light blinking. “How do you feel, senator.”
The words rose up in him, but he had no mouth to bite them back. I don’t feel. That’s the point, isn’t it?
“Functional.”
“Then we have an audience to see. It has been a few days, senator. I knew you were made of strong stuff, but we still almost lost you.” The doors opened via guards, who stared at him, but Proteus moved past them as if they were not there. “You must be presented to Cybertron, Senator Shockwave. A reminder that every form has a function. And that no one is above the will of the Council.”
He followed him down the hallway he had been dragged, carried, beaten, days ago. Days ago. Had it really been days? He believed it could be. Each step sent jagged pain up his legs, through his torso, the sounds echoing in his head, already aching.
“Stop.” Proteus turned to face him, a smile of victory, of real pleasure the senator had not seen before, making him look, for the moment, almost friendly. “You must be starving. Here.”
He pulled an energon cube from subspace: the color was an astute and deep purple. The senator had only seen energon like this before; this was the Council’s private sustenance. The flavor and richness was said to be so potent a low-class bot’s systems could never handle it.
“It’s quite vintage,” said the Council bot with relish, the cube glowing in his fingertips, a prize gem. “Been cultivated for the past thousand years, you will never taste anything quite like it.” And as if he realized the bot before him lacked a face, lacked a mouth, he looked, for a moment, almost abashed, before the laughter began, and he sipped from the cube himself, leading back on their way. “It’s a waste on you, senator, I should have given this to you in between the loss of your hands and head. A final taste of cruelty before my mercy. Your feeding tube has been installed. You will survive on standard energon, and you will have a long functional life ahead of you, senator. I am only sorry it took us so long to show you the light.”
The senator nodded, his voice box still sore; he was not sure he could speak again without choking in his throat. He followed Proteus out to a display balcony, the video screens around them showing for miles and miles across the planet, the watching crowds below, as he was presented, the functional Senator Shockwave.
He watched, every joint in his body crying in agony, every inch of his armor feeling aflame, and said nothing to the hush of the crowds.
But he realized soon that even his inner thoughts had been a lie. He did not feel. That was not the point. He did function, and that was the point, but as he studied the back of Proteus, he realized the rest: there was an urge to rip his head off. It was an illogical urge, one he easily quelled, but once the very idea of such violence would have unnerved him. Would have horrified him. The freedom to realize that was gone, the stammering desperation not to incite violence, to protect, the liberation mixed with logic. He had tried emotion and failed in bringing down the Council. He had had scant seconds to realize what the shadowplay would do, had felt his emotions burn and fade as his Academy, his students, his friends had burned. There was no grief left for them. Grief was without function.
The Council had taken his personality, had clipped his emotion and vanity and self. All that was left was merciless logic, and as he studied the back of the Council bot, as his gaze pierced coldly over the planet, the freedom of it all made his knees lock. Proteus and Sentinel had enjoyed his baseless desperate screams of mercy. He would not enjoy theirs; he would put them in their graves without the grandstanding.
How do you feel, Senator?
With purpose. With logic. With revenge.

Can I ask for a "blind human Orion Pax x reader." headshot... topic can be anything of ur choice... I am just here to read whatever u will come up with
Have a great day or night
Thank you ❤️💙🩵
This was a different prompt for me, because I have never written for a blind character before. But I liked it, thank you for giving me a challenge and giving me something new to try out. I hope I did it justice. And also thanks for trusting me with the topic, I decided to go with some fluffy fluff!!
I hope you have a good day or night as well!!
~~~~
Orion was used to being treated differently. Even when people tried to treat him ‘normal’ they made it too obvious, and still didn’t treat him like others. Orion was fine with it, he tended to keep to himself and get through the days.
He had friends, and he appreciated all they did for him. But they often tried too hard to not treat him differently. They did their best, and he liked them. But they would never understand. So, he continued to keep to himself and just enjoy his hobbies.
Then you came into his life. Shinning so brightly he could feel your warmth radiating over his skin. You were kind, funny, respectful and out of everyone, knew how to treat him just how he wanted without him having to tell you.
It wasn’t long before he developed feelings for you. Anytime you were together his heart would be so fast, his cheeks hot from an almost constant blush. Your voice was beautiful and he could listen to it all day. Whenever he had to part from your company, he felt sad, a small pit in his stomach. All he wanted was to be around you, and feel your energy beside him.
He decided to confess and to his pleasant surprise, you had feelings for him too. Your relationship quickly blossomed, and you became the most important thing in his life. He cherished you and every moment he got to spend with you.
~~
You sat at the table, working on a project, while he sat on the couch. He heard you tapping away and appreciated that you were in the same room. Yet he missed you. He had a sudden yearning for your touch that needed to be filled. Orion extended his hand and called your name. He heard you shift and shuffle over to him. You took his hand. It was soft and warm, and fit together with his perfectly.
“Everything alright my love?” You asked.
“I was just thinking about you. About how much I love you, and how lucky I am to have you.” Orion smiled.
“Aw.” You cooed, taking a seat beside him. You laid a hand on his leg, the other still entwined with his hand.
Orion used his free hand to touch your face, feeling your soft skin. He brushed over your smile, then into your hair. You were beautiful to him.
“I am very lucky to have you in my life too. I love you.” You whispered, then leant forward. With his hand on your face, he could feel you moving forward. He waited patiently in place, allowing you to connect your lips to his in a kiss. He kissed back, putting all his emotions of love into the kiss.
“Will you stay with me, for a while?” He asked. He knew you had work to do, but he was longing for your comfort.
“Of course.”
Orion laid back on the couch, you gently laid on top of him with your head resting on his chest. Orion stroked one hand through your hair, the other on your back. He could feel your breathing, and your heart beat through the hand on your back. It was a pleasant feeling. Your heartbeat was a comfort to him, it was the beating of you, of his world.
Orion felt you shift, then felt your lips pepper kisses over his face. He giggled at the contact.
“You are so precious to me.” You whispered.
“And you are my everything.” Orion stated. “I adore you more than the world itself.” You hummed happily in reply.
Orion could have happily stayed there forever; all he needed in life was you and your love. With you in his arms nothing else mattered. Time stood still, yet it also went too fast. He knew eventually you would have to get up. But for that moment, he held onto you tightly, never wanting to lose you.
You laid your head back onto his chest, your arms snaking their way up to wrap around his head. They played in his hair; it was a soothing feeling and made him a little sleepy.
“I love you.” You whispered once more.
“I love you too.” Orion smiled. It was moments like these that were perfect, that made him realize he had the best life. The greatest life, because he got to spend it with you.
i'm aware the earliest example of where blaster stands when it comes to functionism is hinted at/shown in all hail megatron where he talks about how perceptor defiled himself to become a sniper.
however.
despite the autocracy trilogy being a huge mess, the blaster they introduced is my most favorite characterization in the continuity and to me it makes sense. blaster as a reporter who tries to bypass censorship, is at conflict with authority such as enforcers like orion pax, because while he may have stormed the senate and publicly called them out, he went right back to working for them under zeta, which blaster called out, and continues to question the newest iteration of a violent, flawed government interests me. he's not blind to the flaws of the institution and it's put him at odds with it. hell, it seems heavily implied he's even critical of functionism despite the writers failing to properly write the early days of the war and the motives of each faction.
basically, i wish blaster had his anti-autobot characterization from autocracy and circumstances forced him to join the autobots
Is the reason why Optimus is such an unstoppable fighting force against Megatron because nerdy archivist Orion Pax spent so much time watching Megatronus’s every battle/move in the arena despite the fact the notion horrified him? The reason why we see Optimus often doing so well is literally because his old nerdy self took 1000s of mental screenshots to nerd over, and because Megatron wouldn’t think to fight against his own moves because he’s so often blinded by rage to even comprehend the idea…at least at first. This makes sense, right :’) ?? It really pays to be a nerd apparently.
Megatron: After all this time, Optimus, still at the top of your game!
Optimus: I’ve always been at the top of your game.
PAUSE
Megatron: …
Optimus: …
Megatron: You didn’t top me?!
*Meanwhile Ratchet’s dying in the corner by a mountain of zombies*
Ratchet: Lies!
So I’ve seen a lot of fics and posts offhandedly having Smokescreen be an enforcer or Elite Guard again once the war is over and Cybertron is is rebuilt, but I would like to bring this alternative to the table:
Smokescreen becoming an Archivist
Think about it. He spent years in the Archives learning under Alpha Trion himself. He probably knows the Archives better than anyone else at the moment. He’s very experienced when it comes to guarding and handling the Relics. And as Cybertronians start returning to the planet, they don’t need fighters, they need people to fill literally every other job
There’s also the irony of it. After all, Orion Pax was once an Archivist
So what if when they return to Cybertron and start rebuilding Smokescreen is left sort of….. floating. Everyone else has important jobs they’re doing, Magnus is trying to organize everything, Ratchet and Knockout are trying to put together a medical team, Bulkhead is heading the reconstruction efforts, Arcee and Bee are scouting out the structure of the cities-
And Smokescreen doesn’t know what to do.
Maybe for a while he runs messages between people and delivers datapads, but after a server is set up there’s no need for that either and he’s just left drifting again. His only specialty was being a guard, but right now there isn’t anyone important or vulnerable enough for that so he’s just. Stuck
so what if he starts wandering around Iacon’s ruins.
What if he finds himself in the Archives
the whole place is an absolute mess. Entire sections have been knocked over, shattered datapads litter the floor, offices have been ransacked and all datapads of worth have long since been taken. The restricted areas in the back are basically empty and the relics rooms aren’t even there any more, buried under rubble. The walls are stained with age, rust and smoke……
….. but looking at it all, he can remember how it used to be. Most of the walls are decently intact, and surely it wouldn’t hurt to clean up a bit. Alpha Trion would throw a fit if he saw the Archive’s current state, and the least Smokescreen could do was organize all the remaining datapads
But from there what started as a way to fill the free time he had became more and more complete. He would sweep and scrub the floors until they looked new, rebuilt the shelves of datapads, cleaned fixed the datapads that survived-
And the next thing he knew, the Archives looked like they used to. It’s far from perfect…… but it’s familiar. And amongst the datapads left behind, he finds things of use which he shares with everyone else. Old construction techniques, a law books, medical textbooks, all a tad outdated but providing a foundation for them all to build off of instead of just going in blind with only their memories for a guide
the Archives ends up becoming a bit of a social hub for civilians too. It’s one of the few repaired “recreational” buildings, and once the road there is fixed and sturdy it’s popularity only increases. Some offer datapads to add to the Archive’s collection, a few even write datapads.
And Smokescreen is happy
Thinking a lot about how while Orion Pax and Dion admired the Decepticons, Ariel was the only one out who was reluctant about them and even mentioned rumours that they were attacking cities! Ariel was more wary of possible threats, I've always headcanoned that she heard the rumour through her good friend Chromia (gotta sneak chromlita in there hehe). I think it says a lot about her character that she listened to what was going on around her and didn't dismiss it immediately, nor was she blinded by the power/might of the Decepticons at least not to the extent that Dion and Orion Pax were
This isn't intended to be ragging on Orion Pax or Dion! I thoroughly enjoy their characterization and role they serve in War Dawn. I just can't help but notice that Ariel's character gets lost in people regarding War Dawn as ONLY a sad origin story for Optimus, when it touches base on many things including how blindly admiring power and dismissing growing threats as a non-civilian concern can lead to the tragic loss of innocent life such as Orion Pax, Ariel and more namely Dion who was confirmed to have never been rebuilt into another bot and likely died
Ariel was a lot of things but bland and lacking in personality character is not one of them. She had a sense of humour, confidence and was brave; and again the only one who was cautious/wary of the Decepticons!
This is all true! I love Elita-1 and even I'd forgotten that it was only Ariel who'd mentioned the "rumors" (truth) about the Decepticon army! I also don't see see Elita's characterization mentioned that often either, like she's evenhanded and self-sacrificial like you'd expect from Optimus Prime's counterpart, but she's not the same person.
I think it's also not really mentioned much that Elita didn't know Optimus was alive—so when she took on all the Decepticons at once and got captured to make sure her team survived, she didn't know Optimus would try to save her. Her plan actually worked, because her team live and was able to save the other Autobots who'd come to help Optimus! It's actually Optimus who decided to leave to help Elita without having told anyone, even knowing it was a trap, and he got his friends into trouble. The female Autobots had to save them! In a way, Orion/Optimus is still the gullible one and Ariel/Elita is still the clever one lol
OP: In my caste, I may read and I may index, but I am forbidden to analyze.
M: How do you know where to index if you don't analyze first?
OP: I try not to ask myself questions that don't have answers I can do anything about.
M: Who has told you that you can't do anything about the answers? I never even had a name. I went out to die for the pleasure of strangers. Now I am Megatron, and I will fight when and where and for what reasons I please.
OP: Fight who?
M: Those who would tell me... like they tell you... that we do not have the right to determine our own fates. Interesting that even in Iacon my words are being heard.
OP: It is my task to hear all words.
M: But you don't answer all of what you hear. And surely you don't answer all of what you hear on channels that you hide for fear of being eavesdropped on.
OP: No.
M: A great many Cybertronians would love to have Iacon as their home. Yet you are there and still unsatisfied. What does that tell you?
OP: We should meet.
M: Should we? Why would I meet you?
OP: If you have goals beyond Kaon, you’re going to need to tailor your message so it will resonate beyond the castes who smelt ore and die in the pits.
M: Or the rest of Cybertron should learn to understand those castes. Even you do not, and you consider yourself one of us.
OP: Then show me what I do not understand.
The above is the first conversation between Orion and Megatron over the Grid. This conversation in Exodus occurred right after the oft-referenced moment where Orion gets upset about the fact that he does not have free access to Six Lasers—an amusement park reserved mostly for the highest castes. More than one fan has found this laughable and used it to point out how Orion was blinded by his privilege, and while I agree, I also think it’s important to not stop there.
In the above conversation, Megatron called Orion out and put him in his place. Orion could have responded defensively, but he did not. He asked to be shown what he did not understand. His open-mindedness impressed Megatron.
However, I will also point out that Megatron spoke of his personal ambitions more than about the collective goal of his group at the time. There’s a passage in The Covenant that I believe provides excellent evidence that Megatron saw things as him against the world from the start as opposed to him having the mindset of a benevolent revolutionary. I may or may not get around to sharing it in this series.
Motives and Methods
He understood Megatron’s reasons, and perhaps even more than the gladiator did Orion Pax wanted the freedom and initiative that would come with the end of caste and Guild.
Where they differed, Orion Pax suspected, was in method. He believed the change could be created through political means: spreading new ideas, watching them catch fire, attracting enough followers to their vision that eventually the High Council and Sentinel Prime would have to take notice. That was the vision of Orion Pax.
Sometimes he was concerned that Megatron did not have as much patience as he did.
Yes, you read that right. Orion once thought he desired the downfall of the caste system more than Megatron. It seems arrogant, but consider young Orion’s original dream from The Covenant. Without destroying the caste system, there would be no expansion outward. No opportunity for the exploration and discovery he so desired—not just for himself, but for others as well.
What did Megatron want? He wanted to fight. Alpha Trion said in The Covenant that Megatron was “of the line of Megatronus” and that “he was, at heart, born to revolt.” Megatron desired to conquer and control. To fight someone. Anyone. As long as he could fight against something. It just happened to be the caste system, and if others came along to benefit from his revolution, so be it. Meanwhile, Orion wanted there to be a collective, collaborative effort to destroy the system for the sake of moving forward and upward as a species.
So, I don’t think Orion was correct in thinking he wanted to rid Cybertron of its caste system more than Megatron. It’s just that their motivations and methods for doing so happened to be different.
A Social Strategist
“I don't need you to tell me what's easy and what isn't,” Barricade said. But he was already moving to go back inside. Perfect. “Lugnut,” he added with the door open. “Don't let this mech go anywhere.”
Mech, thought Orion Pax. He’s got to put me in my place. Gladiators wore their emotions on their sleeves, it seemed. He wondered if he should have reacted to the insult, or if a reaction would have been too provocative. Then he started thinking that he was being too deliberative, overthinking everything he did, overanalyzing everything others did.
Notice how Orion so quickly came to his conclusions with very little prompting. Typecasting can be an issue, but it’s impossible to navigate life without making some assumptions. In this case, I believe Orion’s assumptions and his gift for analyzing and reading others helped him to understand Megatron’s passionate nature and his tendency to provoke for the purpose of testing another—incredibly useful for strategizing later during the war.
Seeing Clearly
Entropy, or the consciousness of it, was my other companion. This was one reason why Orion Pax, with his dedication and tireless focus, stood out from the other clerks. He seemed to resist the robotic monotony of the data-harvesting enterprise; instead the size and scope of the task invigorated him.
Yet it was not for this that I came to realize that he was to become the next Prime.
It was a combination of observation, research, and raw... it is difficult for an archivist such as myself to say this...
Intuition.
Orion Pax seemed different. He was humble but certain, rigorous in completing his assignments yet unafraid to deliver results beyond or contradictory to the stated parameters.
And when he first began to discern that a few gladiators in the forgotten savagery of Kaon’s pits were beginning to grow into something more—Orion Pax might have been expected to do one of two things. He might have ignored the data as irrelevant, thus confirming the caste bigotry that those gladiators hated. Or he might have passed on the information without comment to his superiors, who might also have ignored them out of caste bigotry or suppressed the dissent without investigating its origins.
Orion Pax did neither of those things. He investigated, analyzed, synthesized—and when that still did not satisfy him, he went to those who were dissatisfied. He learned.
He empathized. Unencumbered by the prejudices of his age, he chose to see clearly.
Again with the intuition and empathy. Orion chose to look behind the curtain and allow his natural curiosity to take him places his peers never dared to go. He didn’t set out to lead a revolution. He didn’t waltz in and play savior. Orion merely followed his curiosity and realized he had the means to help Megatron’s movement in specific ways. He said through his actions: “Okay, I see where this is going, and I’m here. Show me what I need to know so that, perhaps, I can make this easier for all of us.” Orion never implied that they owed him for his contributions to the cause. It was his hope to make a difference and prevent a violent uprising by showing Megatron and other lower-caste bots that he, as an upper caste bot, was willing to use his higher position to work toward the common goal of societal change.
However, he was just one guy. It wasn’t enough for Megatron and the others, and Orion had to learn that the hard way. It’s not that he failed. He followed his intuition and did his best. It’s just a fact of life that, oftentimes, one person’s best isn’t good enough.
Librarian to Luminary
As he left my study, we were both stunned to see that the data clerks had come to the atrium outside, every single one of them. They stood in a double row, perfectly silent, having come just to see their former colleague and to pay their respects to what he had become.
For Optimus Prime it must have been a moment of intense and conflicting emotion. He has not spoken of it to me; since he left at that moment, he has been absorbed in the skirmishes around the perimeter of Iacon. The clerks glean every bit of data about his actions hungrily, as if it were Energon itself that they might nourish themselves with. Some of them would get up and fight if it were permitted, but as I have written, they are all either created not to fight or have been so damaged that field repairs cannot refit them for the battlefield.
If Soundwave had been present during this moment and read Optimus’ thoughts and feelings, I think Cybertronian history might have taken a much different path. Optimus did not choose to become a leader or a figurehead. Perhaps that made him weak in the eyes of those like Soundwave and Megatron, but Optimus was able to see what they could not—that the conflict was likely to end in a Pyrrhic victory.
Megatron charged forward with overconfidence in himself and expected everyone to fall in step behind him. Meanwhile, Optimus walked forward with caution and humbly accepted that many saw him as an inspiration and the keeper of Cybertron’s future.
In the end, both were necessary to wipe Cybertron’s slate clean, but Optimus desperately hoped it wouldn’t have to result in so much destruction while Megatron never really cared how he got his way.
Megatron was destined to be the revolutionary.
Optimus was meant to be a luminary.
hypothetically Ratchet has ever attempted to create the "happy pills" for make himself feel better?
I apologize beforehand for responding on behalf of my mentor, but I do not believe his mental state would benefit from seeing this particular query. Not to mention I think Prime would also be... distraught if he noticed this question. So I have decided to answer in Doctor Ratchet's stead. I am sorry if you wished to hear from him.
Now to answer your question, Doctor Ratchet has and continues to make pills composed of type six emotional suppressors. Its a highly addictive drug and has increadible effects in dulling negative emotional responses through increasing the production of calming nerve alerts and electrical currents. He makes them himself and does not have any sort of dealer. He takes what he needs from the pharmacy and no one stops him because no one wants to get on his bad side. He's not just the CMO, he's also the Primal Steward. Doctor Ratchet knows this, and so he really isn't all that worried about hiding what he is collecting from the labs or cleaning his digit prints from the pill machine.
Its an open secret, but one every single one of us medics have agreed to keep quiet outside the clinic. Things are so very fragile right now... we can't afford to have Doctor Ratchet break. I am hoping things will get better now that Prime is back. Since his return, my mentor has decreased his drug intake by over 75% and only consumes his homemade medication whenever Prime is gone for too long doing something or other. His smoking has also become less aggressive and he only seems to drink whenever he is particularly stressed. He hasn't visited the labs to make more of his drugs in over a stellar cycle, so I am praying that this is the change my mentor has been needing for a long time.
It would be better if Prime was more attentive though. My mentor is rather cruel toward Orion Pax, even though it goes against medical protocol... I have had to remove dangerous amounts of prescription drugs from Archivist Pax's medication more times than I care to count. I have also had to get rid of more than one disturbing note from my mentor which occasionally are attached to the medication in question. I don't understand why or know all the details, but Doctor Ratchet has been hurting for a very long time and has hurt everyone around him too. I do what I can to mitigate the damage because I know that deep down Doctor Ratchet is a GOOD mech.
He's just hurt. I know what that is like. All us war veterans do. Autobots stand together, especially medics. I don't like what my mentor is doing, but I am going to keep taking care of him as much as I am able. He needs it. I hope to try and get Prime's attention soon and direct him toward Doctor Ratchet. My mentor has been desperate for interaction with Prime. I think even a blind mech could see that.
I have a feeling they will work it out with time and that because of it, Doctor Ratchet will get better. Already his complexion has improved and his vitals have begun running stronger. It's almost like Prime's return gave my mentor back a piece of his spark. He seems younger now, or at least more energetic. Its a little off-putting, but I would never dare call it a bad thing. The fact that Doctor Ratchet hasn't picked up his disguised drug bottle in over a deca-cycle tells me that this really is a good thing for him, even if Prime is a bit absent more often than not.
Until I receive an invitation to their Conjunxing ceremony, I will keep praying for them every recharge cycle.
Your “Silence is Salvation” AU has just been lurking around my head ever since I read it. Literally read it as I was laying in bed then had to set my phone down and stare at my ceiling for the next hour thinking about it. Fr got a book hangover from that first chapter. I haven’t seen enough interaction with that post which saddens me, because as always, your world building and story telling is quite literally otherworldly. Magical. I’m sending this to ✨show interest✨ because I don’t do that enough with so many of your AUs and stories that I just adore (ex:Twin AU, I’m so insane about your Twin AU, I love it so much. And “Artificial Prime”, and “Deaths Embrace”, and “Secret of the Primacy”, “Role Swap”, and I adore “Mr. Pax”, and “Innocent Abominations”, and lastly but not least, two not Optimus related AUs 😧 “Blind Starscream”, and your “Ratchet and Jack” AU.) I can’t wait to see what else you share with us, should you decide to do so. I got so excited when Orion went to Ratchet, ESPECIALLY because you made them come together so smoothly, with them actually meeting beforehand, so it was just “I’ve heard of you, I want you to travel with and help me.” You’re just so good at making everything come together smoothly.
Anyway. I love your works so much. I sit around and read, and re-read them all the time. I’m always so excited when I see a notification that you posted something. Transformers has been my childhood, so I spent days reading as much as I could from your account when I first discovered it here. You’re an inspiration, and part of the reason of why I got back into writing. I will stop ranting now. Thank you for reading. Have an awesome existence‼️🦉
Tumblr media
This is literally one of the nicest and loveliest things I have woken up to. Thank you so much for being SO SWEET! The au's you mentioned are the ones that I felt no one really liked due to lack of interaction with the posts regarding them. And I am SO happy you like my worldbuilding!!! It is my favorite thing to do and I adore being able to make a whole new world in TF and share it! I can't really express how wonderful your message is, but hear me when I say I am ✨inspired✨
I will need to come back to those AU's soon :D Thank you so much for expressing your interest. There is nothing better than something like this to get a writer going.
