• When Simon found out Marcy and Bonnie were adopting a human baby, he was absolutely overjoyed.

• He was sadly never able to start a family of his own with Betty, so he never saw having grandchildren as a possibility until now.

• The day you were born, all of their friends and family were gathered in the waiting room. Marceline was especially nervous, she had little to no experience with babies and she worried whether she could be a good mom. Simon squeezed her hand in his, reassuring her that there’s nothing she couldn’t do.

• After what felt like an eternity, a MinervaBot finally brought you out, and everyone’s attention was directed towards you as she handed you over to Bonnie, congratulating them on their new child.

• Simon’s hands shook as Marceline beckoned him to come over and hold you, gently taking you in his arms as if you were made of glass.

• From that day on, Simon made a promise that he would always look out for you, swearing he would never leave like he had to with Marcy.

• As you grew up, Simon was a constant figure in your life.

• He helped you with your homework whenever you were having trouble, although when it comes to math he is equally as clueless.

• If you ever get picked on or bullied at school, him and Marcy are ready to march over there and beat the kid up. Bonnie has to calm them down and convince them that it’s not okay for them to beat up a child (although she certainly wants to as well).

• Simon would love it if you started to show interest in learning about archeology, he’ll teach you everything he knows about ancient artifacts.

• You beg him to take you along on an expedition, and while at first he’s pretty hesitant with how dangerous Ooo can be, Bonnie agrees to accompany both of you to make sure everything goes perfectly.

• Simon tries to tell her she doesn’t need to pack 6 different ray guns, but she won’t hear it.

• If you ever made him a drawing or some sort of craft he will cherish it for the rest of time.

• He has a shelf dedicated to displaying everything you’ve made for him, and he keeps it all in immaculate condition.

• When you enter your teenage years and start to date, Simon is very protective of you.

• Any partner you bring home will be subjected to immense judgement by him, Bonnie and Marcy.

• More than anything, he wants you to live a full and happy life, and he will do everything in his power to make that happen.

Discovering a human Princess

❥Characters: Finn Mertens, Princess Bubblegum

❥Synopsis: Bubblegum and Finn attempt to help a princess who they believe is inflicted with a curse but turns out she's actually a human being.

❥A/n: No prob! This is in the early seasons when humans are almost non existent and are considered extinct. Gonna take the same approach and write a small intro before seperating it into hcs for each character.

Finn isn't one to dwell too long about being part of an extinct species or he'll get soul searchy, but one day the topic came to mind when he was rummaging through a barrel filled with old toys, some were old and moldy while others were mostly intended for babies. "Did you use to have toys like these growing up?" Bubblegum asks him, rummaging through her own pile of things. Her investigations leaded them to the remains of a shopping mall, mainly in effort to find more information about old times.

"Not really? I always had Jake to play with, well, that and any cool stick that looked like a sword." Finn responds, with his fingertips touching an unfamiliar rubber plate which turned out to be a Frisbee, he didn't get the chance to check it out because Bubblegum cries out when her pile starts jiggling and something starts crawling out of it, Bubblegum takes a step back while Finn jumps into action with his gold sword ready, but instead of confronting monster he was met with a harpy pigeon. "Oh I must've fallen asleep again..." he rubs his round eyes with the tip of his gray wings. "You! You're struck with the land walker curse as well?" the pigeon directs his attention at Finn.

Finn took it like some sort of insult. "Curses shmurses!" he responds almost immediately.

"Yeah, Finn has been curse free ever since that one witch gave him a booty rash." Jake exclaims in his failed attempt to defend Finn.

The human boy lowers himself to Jake's height. "Duuude, you weren't supposed to tell anyone." he mumbles with pinkish face cheeks.

"What's the land walker curse?" Bubblegum focuses on the topic at hand, to which the pigeon harpy dwells further.

"Back at the harpy kingdom our rulers were blessed with two royal heirs many seasons ago, one prince with wings and talons and a princess who remains wingless. The king said his beloved daughter was cursed by a shaman to walk on land forever, never to soar the skies with her family nor her people. It's so tragic don't you think?" he pulls out a handkerchief to dramatically wipe his non existent tears.

Bubblegum remained skeptical with her arms crossed together as she mutters to herself. "There's gotta be a scientific reason for this, maybe a genetic mutation? Or someone cheated." her thinking gears started running inside her head, meanwhile Finn and Jake were, in their own words, sweating from their eyes.

"That's so sad! We have to help her somehow." Jake expresses sincerely, being someone that wears his emotions on his sleeve.

Bubblegum called her giant bird marrow so they could fly their way to the harpy kingdom with the pigeon harpy as a guide, the flight lasted a few minutes with their surroundings turning into cloudy skies and rocky mountainsides. Bubblegum hopped off Marrow without any issues but it's Finn and Jake who were feeling nauseas due to the kingdom’s necessary altitude.

"They royal family live thus way, follow me!" the pigeon says joyfully.

It took a while for the guards to allow these foreigners entry but with a bit of Jake's charismatic persuasion and Bubblegum's own royal status, they were able to get a council with the Harpy King and Queen, such royals would despise an abrupt meeting but once they saw Finn they immediately became started at the human boy, especially the king who became agitated in his mighty throne.

"Honey look, that one over there is just like our daughter!" the harpy queen tugs on her husband's sleeve.

"I can see it clear as day my dear, no need to shout." the king sighs as he calms down his wife, "How dare you remind me of my daughter's misfortune, I order the three of you to leave this instance." his booming voice echoes through the room with Finn being the first to speak up.

"What? But we came all this way to help your cursed princess."

The king ruffles up his feathers like a bird of prey attempting to scare off another predator, but it was nothing more than an act because he lowers himself to Finn's height and mutters. "No, you don't understand if my daughter see you she'll know we've been..."

"Dad? I heard a loud noise coming from outside, is everything alright?" a new voice let's itself known, the cursed princess herself. But rather than being some sort of flightless bird or lack any feathers, she's actually an ordinary human being, or at least as ordinary as one can be when you're part of a rare species. Her bare footsteps echo through the room between small gasps and low murmurs as she makes eye contact with Finn, calmly walking past her father as she extends a hand to the young man, both intrigued but uncertain about talking to him.

"Are you're cursed as well?" she asks him to which Finn replies. "Not exactly." he looks at Jake and to the shocked King and queen, feeling like he's accidentally got himself wrapped in family drama.

❥Finn

❥It's amazing he was allowed to stay in the kingdom even after revealing the King's biggest secret. That he found and adopted a human child from the wilderness and raised her alongside his harpy son.

❥"I just wanted my citizens to accept you without judgment"

"It's okay dad, I know you meant well."

Finn is just standing there while you console your father who is crying more about the whole situation more than you are, turns out the guilt was eating him inside.

❥"How's your dad?" he asks while you walk alongside him, stepping over branches and loose feathers.

"He's kinda sensitive right now but I know he'll get through." your tone is calm and mellow. Which makes it hard for Finn to get a good read on you, even the most steady rivers have heavy currents underneath.

"And what about you? How are you taking this?" Finn asks carefully.

You exhale loudly through your nostrils, failing to hold back a laugh. "Suprisingly well? I mean, I always knew I was different to everyone in this kingdom." you stretched your arms out. "I just wished I would've meet you earlier, hang out and do... Whatever humans do." you wave a hand in the air.

❥Finn thought about it for a moment before remembering the item he found at the mall ruins, shrugging off his backpack to open it up and pull out a rubber disc. "What's that?" you raise your guard up at the unfamiliar item, but still eyeing it in curiosity.

"It's a frisbee! Just stay there and catch it when it comes to you." At the mention of this, Finn runs up a few feet away from you and throws the disc at you. Still being cautious of the item you stood rigid until it was right above your head, prompting you to jump an grab it, filling you with excitement like when you caught your first fish.

"I did it? I did it!"

"Good job!" Finn gives you the thumbs up.

"Now what do I do??"

"You throw it back!" Finn explains, doing a circular motion with his hand.

Of course you threw it with too much strength and it landed on a tree, you spew a few curses but Finn still gives you the thumbs up.

❥After an afternoon of playing with Finn, the two of you settle on a small water stream, looking at your reflection in the water as dubious thoughts invade you. "It had me thinking... If the Harpy family isn't my real family, then what happened to my human family?"

"They're still your family. Sure they might not physically be like you but they still raised you like their kid." Finn explained.

You press your lips together, still unsure how to feel about that.

"What about you Finn? Did you ever meet your human parents."

Finn looks down at the frisbee in his hands. "Nope,"

"And weren't you ever curious to find out who they are?"

"... Sometimes, but Joshua and Margaret were always there for me and never really drove me to find out."

❥You look back at the giant castle made of twigs and leafs, knowing full well your dad is probably still sniffling like he just watched a soap opera. The thought brought a smile to your face.

"I'm just happy to know I have you."

❥Bubblegum

❥It was kinda awkward for her to stand there while this family drama came undone in front of her, but Bubblegum remained still and didn't disturb while the Harpy King cried his eyes out.

❥"I just wanted my citizens to accept you without judgment"

"It's okay dad, I know you meant well."

Bubblegum heard from across the hall, it isn't until you notice her did you approach her with an apologetic sigh.

❥"My apologies Princess Bubblegum you're still our guest, please, join me for a cup of tea." you bow slightly, keeping the manners you've been taught since forever.

❥"I hope the king is alright?" Bonnibel starts making small talk while you wait for the staff to bring your teapot.

"He's always been very sensitive, but I know he'll be alright." you shrug off with an uneasy smile.

Bubblegum takes note of this and holds the top of your hand in comfort.

"But will you be alright?"

You take a moment to cherish the hold and give her a comforting squeeze. "It won't be easy, but i'll be fine." you reassure her.

❥"It takes alot of strength to deal with newfound emotions, just by looking at you I know you'll make a great ruler someday." is the most she can muster up at the moment, since she can't fully relate to the situation you're going through. But still tries to get in your shoes.

❥Bubblegum removes her hands from you when the castle staff brings in your favorite tea set, relishing in the smell of fine herbs as you serve PB her cup.

"I don't think I'm eligible to rule, even before the reveal happened I am pretty sure my brother is the next heir to the throne." you confess.

"You can never know, I have an older brother too but he's okay doing his own thing."

"Oh really?" you reconsider, looking back at your sibling and his array of trophies on the high shelf, he always had the weird dream of becoming a professional baseball player so it's a possibility. "Then maybe it's not too bad of an idea. Though I would need to learn alot of new things about kingdom management." you chuckle, shaking your head at the thought.

❥"Hey, no need to get nervous I could help you...! If you like." Bubblegum offers.

You hum contently at the suggestion, raising your teacup to clink it with hers. "I would love that."

To be honest, I think it would be kinda hard to date her

Not bc she’s a bad partner or anything, but bc she’s literally busy all the time

Either with the kingdom or doing some wack experiments

Since you started dating tho, she’s been involving you more and more in said experiments

She would never do anything to hurt you dw, but your hair might accidentally turn green for a week or something

She’s actually so invested in the relationship tho, like she even reads books on how to be a better partner and communicate lol

She’s so cute <3

Even before you got together she was studying you

Not in a creepy way I promise-

First she was confused bc you always made her feel funny, lightheaded, sweaty palms, increased heartbeat ect.

She somehow chugged it up to you being radioactive or her being allergic to something you wore

Dude Marceline laughed so much at her when she told her that

I feel like even Finn would end up saying something

Like it’s so obvious from her behaviour that she likes you, she just refuses to acknowledge it

She invites you over so often that you end up having your own room at the castle

She gets so happy that you’re invested in her projects as well, she will call you at literally any time to tell you something cool she has figured out

Omg the two of you are literally the stupidest smart people ever

I kid you not, before you started dating she sat you down to report her status on the tests she had run on you

And none of you realised it was just normal symptoms of being in love lmfao

“So, Y/n,” Bonnie said, adjusting her glasses. “The multitude of tests I have run on you all came back negative, but what is highly unusual is that you seem to be experiencing the same symptoms as me..” She trailed off, looking down at her clipboard with furrowed brows

You frowned. “That’s weird. Finn is human too but you’re not allergic to him, right? Could it be my shampoo or something?”

She shook her head, pursing her lips. “Hah. I dunno. You don’t have this reaction to any other citizens of the candy kingdom, correct?”

You shook your head, as deep in thought as her

It would suck if you were somehow allergic to each other, you loved spending time with Bonnie more than anything and you were sure she liked spending time with you as well

You both eventually realised that you like each other when cinnamon bun of all people yelled at you to get your act together and date already ^^

Both of you were so embarrassed lol, especially PB bc she’s supposed to be the smart one

Of course you started dating soon after that, but that didn’t stop Bonnibel from conducting more tests on you

Well-meaning tests tho

The candy citizens are over the moon that you’re dating, they’re so invested in your relationship lol

It’s sweet, but gets suffocating pretty quick

Luckily, Bonnie has a lot of hiding places the two of you can hang in

Your favourite is her private garden

The two of you spent hours in there reading

Mostly she reads to you while you rest your head on her lap, when she’s tired though you read to her

The only one who disturbs you in the garden is peppermint butler, he only comes in to bring you tea and cake tho

I can go on forever about this, but Bonnibel cherishes you so much

Sometimes she goes a bit overboard tho

You gently have to remind her that your relationship is not a mathematical equation and that you’re not one of her test-subjects but actually her girlfriend

She gets so embarrassed, hiding her face in her hands and blushing madly when she realises she has gone too far

It’s nothing some kind reassuring and kisses can’t fix tho

The only downside to a relationship with PB is her tendency to get so invested in something she neglects anything else

When she does this she can also get pretty cranky, she might yell at you or insult you if you try to pull her away from whatever project she’s invested in

She never truly means it tho and she honestly feels like crap if she’s made you cry or caused a fight between you

She’s pretty stubborn tho, so it might take a while for her to come and apologise

But in the end, she never fails to make it up to you

On another topic, she loves to show your relationship off

If you’re not the type to normally dress pink and girly, she loves to dress you up for formal events

Even if you hate the outfit, her giddy smiles and compliments are enough to make you begrudgingly deal with it

But if you are the type who loves to dress up, she’s even more ecstatic

She would actually love it if you’re better at makeup than her, so she can ask you to do hers

She’s so happy to finally have someone to drag to the formal events as well

I mean, she made peppermint butler go before, but she enjoys your company a lot more

She has made you ‘honourary ruler’ of the kingdom, just so she had a proper reason to take you along

The princess’ girlfriend was not fancy enough to be accepted by the older leaders

Finn probably thinks you’re the coolest couple ever, after he got over his jealousy that is

Claims he wants a relationship like yours one day, it’s really flattering tbh

On the topic of jealousy, the princess has many, many, many pursuers

None of them which she is interested in tho, but it still stings a bit to watch them all waiting outside your castle

Kinda like they didn’t expect your relationship to last long or something

You told her this and she brushed it off rather quickly, bc this is something she’s so used to she doesn’t really understand how it can make you feel

If you sit her down and properly tell her your feelings though, she will be much more willing to take it seriously

She hates when something upsets you, even if it’s a thing she finds super trivial

If you end up fighting though, Jake gives the best relationship advice

Or Marceline, depending if you want the more ruthless version

Finn probably refers to you as ‘the cool science gf’s’

He’s always down to help whenever Bonnie gets kidnapped by ice king, since he’s a more experienced fighter

He also just likes to laugh in ice king's face and tell him that the princess is already in a loving relationship

Omg but after so many times of PB being kidnapped, you find that it’s actually quite easy to rescue her yourself

Ice king is very easily distracted 0_0

She always kisses you as a reward for saving her, so cute <3

Lol everyone knows not to bother you when you’re discussing experiments with Bonnibel, not daring to get involved in the complex mystery of whatever she’s studying at the moment

She really appreciates that you’re able to go into ‘deep science mode’ with her and discuss her theory’s for hours

It doesn’t matter if you actually have something smart to say, just that you’re willing to listen

Pls she does so much to make it a healthy and sustainable relationship, even if she seems to treat it like a science experiment at times she really does mean well

She will give it her all if you’re willing to do that as well

She’s actually pretty mature about relationship stuff like that

Bonnie is just so happy to have someone to nerd around with <3

Lucián and Longina Mertens-Bonnibel, the Mertens-Bonnibel Twins, Firstborn eldest twin children of Finn "PG87" Mertens and Princess Bonnibel Bubblegum and living proof life finds a way, are at the Szent Mátyás Holló Cathedral-School swimming pool in their usual Swimmer Forme school swimwear and with their Frogman Forme SCUBA gear for just another routine day of swimming, training and just plain having fun as are their fellow schoolmates, human and mutant (born of the X-Gene and all 6 Mean Genes Genes, Saber to Mythic), one shiningly sunny school day.

Born as bright and brilliant Children of Summer as any, Prince-Bishop Lucián and Princess-Bishop Longina are at home sweet homeworld in bright, sunny summer environs such as the school swimming pool the two frequent for Water Sports Training as religiously as they do Adventurer/Superhero/Knight/Super Robot Battle Training, Superheroic/Military/Multiversal/Mean Genes History, Mutant Genetics and DNA Superpowers and Church of Minato Theology and Doctrinum as asked of Renaissance Children in learning and training for their future as the Twin Prince-Bishop and Princess-Bishop of the Kingdom. Good Pancreator knows the Mertens-Bonnibel Twins're gonna need it.

You, dear reader(s), (a) fellow Szent Mátyás Holló student(s) and swimmer(s) and diver(s), be thee or ye human, mutant, machine, angel and hybrid in betwixt of either 6 Genes, happen upon the Mertens-Bonnibel Twins in a beamingly good mood at the swimming pool with the occasional Minervabot lifeguards on duty in event of emergencies, especially underwater out-of-air ones and poolside fights above and underwater getting uglier than a Shoggoth on a good day.

As for real serious threats such as the usual Monster-of-the-Week, care of either the Letzt Battalion, the Dark Empire of Apocalypse or the Esoteric Order of Dagon, crashing the pool party... well, the Minervabots leave it up to the Prince-Bishop Twins and the Heroes and Champions of the Kingdom.

You go up to the Prince-Bishop and Princess-Bishop and ask questions about the Twins' swimming and diving training regimen, swimwear, water gear, SCUBA kit and water sports in general you have in mind.

In the mood for a good poolside chat, Lucián and Longina answer them by telling you all about water sports.

Swimming

Lucián: As Prince-Bishop and Princess-Bishop of the Holy Comet Kingdom and Firstborn eldest twin children of Finn and Bubblegum who are born bright Children of Summer, I, Lucián and my sister Longina, the Mertens-Bonnibel Twins, are the Water Park's future star Szent Mátyás Holló Cathedral-School Swim Team Ace Swimmers who just absolutely LOVE to swim, be it the waters of the swimming pool, the beach, the lake or the ocean!

As Swim Team Aces-in-Training, if it's training ourselves in the art of swimming, practicing for swimming races, putting our underwater skills to the test, facing the fear of the dark depths of the ocean head on or having just plain fun swimming in the water and SCUBA birthday parties, especially in Summertime, we go to the school swimming pool or the Water Park in our Swimmer Forme school swimwear that marry the colorful style, stretchy sleekness and comfortable softness of school swimsuits with the built-to-last-the-Mushroom-Wars-Part-2 armor toughness of the best Power Ranger Super Robot the Holy Comet Kingdom has to offer if and when needed.

Such as alternate universal visits from our old "friends" of ours, Dark Lord Apocalypse of His Age and Staadtmeister Reinhart of the Letzt Battalion. And the occasional Esoteric Order of Dagon Deep One beach party crasher.

Minato's Blood, what IS it with Unholy Darkness-aligned bad guys and us Mertens-Bonnibel Twins?!

My school swimwear is a neon blue-pink with blue-pink checkers boys school swimsuit and fingerholed long sleeve school rash guard with Griffin Crest and blue-pink swim socks with Finn-style white blue-pink striped swim cap, alternatively a neon blue-pink with blue-pink checkers Michael Lancelot-style one-piece beachbody boys school swimsuit with Butterfly Crest with blue swim gloves and blue-pink swim socks with Finn-style white Holy Comet print silicon school swim cap.

My sister Longina will tell you hers.

Longina: Futuristic, adventurous, religious high school summer children who pray to Saint Arisato we are, my brother Lucián and I, Longina are the sporty and hot yet wholesome, sleek and cuddly yet chaste archetype model swimmer students who always bring our Messiah and Winged Ice Cream Holy Symbols around our necks as a reminder of our religious affiliation to friend and foe alike.

For chastity and fashion both, our swimsuits are strictly one-piece and full-body school issue and sports designs created from the stuff of the legendary Power Rangers' supersuits just in case the bad guys look for a fight with us. Good Minato knows we have two Unholy Dark Evil Alternate Universe Empires invading our good Holy Comet Kingdom every. Single. Day of the week.

And don't get us started on those EOD Deep One fishfaces trying to take us for their "damsels-in-distress", making us marry to a fish boy and fish girl and taint our already mutant DNA by making more fishman-babies. The overpowering awesome stench of dead fish hanging over the minions of their foul High Priest is bad enough already.

As my brother Lucián told you his, my school swimwear is a neon pink-blue with blue-pink checkers girls school swimsuit with Butterfly Crest with pink swim gloves and pink-blue school swim trenchleggings with Bubblegum-style pink pink-blue striped school swim cap, alternatively a neon pink-blue with blue-pink checkers French cut (turtleneck with fingerholed long sleeves) girls school swimsuit with Bee Crest and pink-blue school swim trenchleggings with Bubblegum-style pink crown print silicon school swimcap.

• She knows it can get a little boring in the Candy Kingdom, so she tries to set up little things like game nights and puppet shows to entertain you.

• At first she tried to make you a room in her cell, but after seeing that you weren’t very happy in there she let you stay with her in her room. Just don’t touch her stuff without asking permission.

• You’re the only one that can touch her hair, but don’t bother trying to brush it. Whenever you finally get it to behave and lay down flat, as soon as you take a step back it springs back up into it’s naturally messy shape. She likes sitting there while you touch her hair though.

• She has definitely written fan fiction about you, casting you as a brave hero that comes to save her from being kidnapped by an evil king.

• Sees most outsiders as a threat to your safety, and will lock you up in her cage to “protect” you while she goes and deals with it.

• After she transforms back into her true form, she doesn’t really remember much about your relationship, but she still finds herself being attracted to you and will be happy to have the opportunity to properly court you.

Bonnibel is so busy that even her close friends (Marcy, Finn, and Jake) have to schedule hangouts at least three weeks in advance in order for her to find the time. It's the same for you on special days like birthdays or holidays; such is the life of a monarch who also happens to be a scientist. With Valentine's Day approaching, you've made peace with the fact that there will be no romantic outings, no romantic dinners, maybe a rose here or a peck on the cheek there, but as long as you get to share your mornings with her, it's not such a big deal. "Would be nice, though," you think to yourself as you wash the dishes.

While every other couple in Ooo is out on a date night with their significant other, you are cooking dinner at Pb's cozy cabin. However, there is nothing to complain about when the dishes are done and the shower is perfectly heated for when Bonnibel returns from work. These small gestures are attentive in their own right. You just hope she doesn't overwork herself again; fortunately, the sound of flapping breaks the monotonous silence as you lean out the kitchen window to see her giant swan land in the front yard. "Hi Bon bon, how was work?" you inquire, but Bubblegum remained seated on her swan.

"Hop on! I have something to show you." Very mysterious, but she's said strange things before, so you jump on without hesitation. When you asked where you were going, she would only say. "You'll see," he stated solemnly.

The swan eventually flies to a hospital's rooftop, but not just any rooftop. "Wait, I recognize this place. I had a broken leg when the zombie outbreak started." You recall the incident. Bubblegum smiles to herself as the swan gently lands, assisting you to get off the birds' back.

"And yet you still managed to climb to the rooftop as a zombie, I found you when I was delivering cures with Finn and Jake." she points out with a chuckle, this time it's your turn to laugh.

Bubblegum guided you through a passage with tubes and other machinery before a trail of fairy lights guided the way through, their light reflecting in your eyes like a bag of glitter when you see two chairs set up on a candlelight dinner table. "This spot. I know i was technically a zombie, but it's where we first met..." You put your hand to your chest while experiencing tears of happiness in your eyes. Princess bubblegum escorted you to one of the chairs, digging into one of the picnic baskets nearby before pulling out a perfectly pink soufflé and carefully placing it in the center of the table.

"I know we haven't spent as much time together in a long time. I mean, I forgot how to bake this soufflé, and it took me a few attempts to keep it standing!" Bonnibel gives the pastry a menacing look that you've only seen her give to kingdom enemies.

When you get this close to her, your mocking smile fades. It's under the candlelight that her eye bags become more visible, and you wonder how many late nights must have passed for them to be that dark, not just the souffle, but this set up must've taken a lot of work. "Bonnibel, you didn't have to go to all of this trouble just for me." You place your hand on top of hers. You can clearly see Bubblegum's soft smile when she is this close to you; despite her tired eyes, she doesn't appear to be regretful. "I did it for you, that's why."

Maybe it's the sugar you had after bed or the scary movies PB told you not to watch. Either way, when a nightmare becomes too much you practically fall out of bed screaming, convinced that whatever monster you dreamed of is real and will follow you here. Your eyes dart across the room as you scramble to break free from the blanket prison you've unknowingly wrapped yourself in; despite the fact that there's a lamp by your nightstand, you're unconsciously huddling to the night light for comfort. The vampire queen doesn't take long to break through the door in her bat form, reaching your room that quickly due to her power of flight. She turns on the light switch and looks for anything threatening you, but the sight of you and your blankets on the floor tells her everything she needs to know.

"Another nightmare, kiddo?" She scoops you up without hesitation, cradling you against her massive fluffy body as she transforms back into her more humanoid form. You didn't hold back, sobbing into her chest in response to the scare as well as the relief of knowing your vampire mom is there for you. Bubblegum enters the room immediately after Marcy, her reaction slower due to her lack of vampire powers and also because she took longer to wake up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she steps into the room.

"What happened sweetie, you alright?"

""I don't remember what it was about, but it was chasing me," you sobbed, Marcy wiping away crocodile tears with her human hand.

"It wasn't real, sweetie. It's just a byproduct of rapid eye movement..." Bubblegum was about to go off on a scientific tangent to comfort you in her own way, but Marceline saw fit to cut it short.

"What she means is that, if you ever have another nightmare just call us we'll kick its butt, right PB?"

Both you and Marceline stare expediently at Bonnibel, she un crossed her arms and playfully flexed her bicep. "Yeah, we'll kick it's butt."

This reassuring moment of validation and care is all you needed for the tears to stop, replaced with a tender smile and a small yawn. Marceline flies you back into your bed while Bonnibel picks up the discarded blanket and tucks you in, slowly but surely the sleep starts kicking in again, shutting your eyes after feeling two loving kisses on the forehead.

Once the door is closed Bonnibel gives Marcy a stern look. "No more soda after bed..."

Skiing for Scientific Purposes

Princess Bubblegum

Despite the strong wind and the cold temperature, you hold tight onto bubblegum's skiing gear and science equipment, the two of you have reached this far and you wouldn't let some bad weather beat you down.

"This is a good spot, let's set up here." Pb announces, her determined tone not wavering in the slightest. It's no wonder you wanted to join her in this expedition to the snowy mountain tops, she's a smart and talented leader, you'd follow her to the ends of Ooo if she asked you. What's not to love?

"Sure thing Pb!" You follow suit by gently lowering the equipment, already opening the bags to pull out some sort of weather invention of hers... There's also the backpack you brought, but that's a suprise for later.

The princess continues on with her research, checking for weather patterns or measuring the force of the wind as far as you can tell by sight. Meanwhile you help her out with anything she needs, like holding a part of her device or bringing her notes from her pack. You thought everything was going well until she started grumbling under her breath, tossing her checkboard to the snow below in frustration.

"Something wrong?" you ask her.

"My calculations aren't matching up, even though I did them five times!" she grips her head between her hands, sitting on one of the unopened bags. "I thought I'd get better results if I came all the way out here, but it was just a waste of time. Sorry (y/n) for dragging you here."

"It's alright bonnibel, sometimes things just don't go out as planned," you went behind her, rubbing her tense shoulders. "But that doesn't mean this was a waste of time, we still have the skiing trip down the mountain." you nod torwards the skiing equipment.

"I guess, though we already planned that when we head back." Bubblegum sighs, leaning towards your comforting touch.

You hum for a moment, realizing this is the best time for your suprise. "I know, there's something I've been meaning to show you for a while." you remove yourself from bubblegum's shoulders to pull something out of your backpack.

"What is it?"

"A suprise~" you chant happily. "Cover you eyes."

Princess Bubblegum shook her head slightly, but covered her eyes with her hands nevertheless. She was tempted to peek but she played along anyway, hearing you open a zipper and shuffle in the snow before you let her see.

"Okay now open your eyes."

Bubblegum removed her hands from her face, only to jump in suprise when a flash caught her off guard.

"A camera? Why did you bring one of those?" she rubs her eyes in confusion.

"I know this is a trip meant for scientific purposes but I wanted to take a few pictures, we don't have any together."

The smile Bubblegum gave you is warm enough to make you forget about the cold, almost making you remove your sweater.

"That's so sweet. In that case, I guess I wouldn't mind a picture or two~" Pb giggles.

You held the camera in a way the two of you fit in the angle, you thought it was funny to catch Pb off guard earlier but she got you back by placing a kiss on your cheek right before you took the picture. Blushing profusely, almost as pink as Bubblegum's hair. It's embarrassing, but it's one of your most treasured pictures.
