Chakraborty Kingdom of Copper is probably one of my favorite reads this year. The storytelling is so much better from the first book, primarily because the world has been laid out. While the first book was world-building and characterization, this second book is full of power play, politics, and questions on morality. It sometimes reminded me of Game of Thrones. There is also a character who is painted to be the savior but I only see them as a tyrant in the making. When I finished this book, I kept thinking what rating to give and if there is anything I didn’t like to make me deduct points. Do you make a shot list when you shoot photos? •———————————————————————• I do, obviously 😂 I think it goes back to my time as a wedding photographer. I keep a running list in my phone as ideas come to me and list it out before I shoot. There’s just something about marking off a list that makes me feel like I accomplished something. Honestly, this book means the world to me. I have only read it twice and I don’t plan on reading it again anytime soon. But I want everyone to read it. We have all heard of it, I know: but read it. Read it because you are willing to fall head over heels in love with words. Because you want to feel what love feels like. Because you want to experience heartache and pain, but feel loved at the same time. Read it because you want to, not because you English teacher said you had to. I made that mistake once. I promise, it’s not fair towards this book.
