The older I get, I can't help but look back at my life to those unique and horrid moments. And, sometimes, I wonder...could I have handled this differently? Would I change that? Should I have done something else? I have no regrets. These are just some questionable remembrances that often come to mind. Like honestly...What if I was wrong? Is it okay to admit it? Can I take responsibility for my actions, reactions, and role in everything that previously happened? Can I be still and listen, hearing other's perspectives and what's being said to me without defending myself or having a rebuttal? Can I accept the truth without adding or subtracting from it? Can I live with the consequences of my actions? Can I understand and learn from my mistakes? Can I apologize without condemnation? Can I receive forgiveness without judgment? Can I change for the better without having to prove something to someone? Can I be human? Can I make mistakes and have bad days without being ridiculed? Can I learn and grow from immature to mature, even as I age? Can I be emotional or even break down without someone trying to abandon me? Can I cry without being told I'm too sensitive and weak? In my heart, I know the answers to my questions. Yes, I can do these things, but sometimes...I don't, and I don't know why. But that's the past. So, I'll leave it there until these thoughts come back to visit me again, later on...

There is a place where warmth is adjusted to the right degree. An enclosure so safe, it beckons the eyes rest. Like hills wrapped around valley, clouds enraptured atop mountains. Embrace fitting and welcoming to those called at the table. And I seek it out, like drought chasing rain – like bone lusting blood. For love is modelling clay, you will make of it a sculpture all your own. But where it lies will always be the same: in the arms of the adored, against the chest of a lover’s beating drum. And if love should be like anything as quiet and rumbling as a stream -, than it can only ever measure up to the chanting of corresponding souls.

"I got third place!!" I hear her say, all happy and bright.

"I got first place!!" He says, beaming with pride.

But what about me? Up on the stage.

Second place, yet it fills me with rage.

First place, you won. No one else could do better!

Something to brag about to everyone, forever!!

Third place, you made it, just enough, but you did.

Second, I could have been first! But no, it slid.

Slipped, out of reach, I was almost there.

I guess mine's good too, but it'll will never be as good as theirs.

used to be a girl out of relationships

never been in one and never felt it too

cause I had that one validation

oh darling you're one to love, more than date

but then in they swirled

capturing my mind and my heart

eyes sparkling for every time they talked

coffee captured by sunlight

girlfriend material I was called

to be loved and dated was what they said

they looked at me and the relief

I've never seen such an emotion before

not for me not anywhere

but then came the fear too

I saw the walls and the moats

I craved the smile behind the cage

silent looks of worry and affection

smiles, dimples and hugs

there was professed words and feelings

and that was what differed

and I’m here looking at them all

back to my square one

wishing I never dated

cause anyway, I've always loved

cause it's not black and white

I can feel the red and the orange

pink just consumes me

along with the midnight blues

what's a future to feelings anyway?

it's always baby steps and the little things

but god the hope and expectation

it crashes the heart and everything within

and I wish maybe but maybe

that I could have just stayed as one to be loved

for then I wouldn't have looked up

and I’d not have drowned

but then what's there to rise without to fall?

what's there to life without ever loving

to keep my heart and hope for it all

god, I can’t find it in me to regret

and I keep loving them

it never really goes out
