Chakraborty Kingdom of Copper is probably one of my favorite reads this year. The storytelling is so much better from the first book, primarily because the world has been laid out. While the first book was world-building and characterization, this second book is full of power play, politics, and questions on morality. It sometimes reminded me of Game of Thrones. There is also a character who is painted to be the savior but I only see them as a tyrant in the making. When I finished this book, I kept thinking what rating to give and if there is anything I didn’t like to make me deduct points. So, I just finished reading It starts with us, and yes! I'm back again after my last update book update with It Ends With Us. When I first heard that a sequel of It Ends With Us would be released, as much as I loved the first book, I didn't think that a second book was still necessary. My first thought was it was better off with the first book only. But, hey! At least we got a glimpse of Atlas and Lili's life for a short time. I would recommend this book to those who want more of Atlas and Lily but for me? I'm better off with the first book. Today I'm sharing two paranormal/fantasy romance novels that I thoroughly enjoyed!

First and foremost, cheers to author @authorhollyrenee on the release of her fantasy romance novel, A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows ✨️

So here are the two paranormal/ fantasy romance novels, as well as an overview of my thoughts on them:

—𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐞 (𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐃𝐮𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 #𝟏)- An engrossing and complex novel about angels and demons. I liked the writing and the combination of the forbidden lovers and fated mate tropes. I can't wait to read Inferium, which was just released this month 🤍. 4⭐️

—𝐀 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐬- Was one of my most anticipated fantasy romances this year, and I was lucky enough to read and review it ahead of time! The writing was smooth, and I enjoyed the vampyre/fae/ starblessed concept as well as the enemies to lovers, princess x royal guard, forbidden lovers, and betrayal tropes! The queens are also very intriguing here! I can't wait for the sequel 🤍. 4⭐️

Okay, a little story time...

When I was in my 4th year in high school, my English teacher used to move my chair in front of the class whenever we have a quiz about Greek myth. I remember my face was super close to the black board and no one can sit beside me. Why? Not to brag but it was because I knew the answers to all her Greek myth questions during discussion and I let my seatmates copy some of my answers during our 1st and 2nd quizzes.

And you might wonder how I knew a lot about Greek myth even back then... The truth is I already studied it when I was in the 5th grade AND it was my favorite subject. 😉

So yeah, I studied it twice in school. Fell in love with it the first time I read about it and never got over it since. Hence when I finally had the money, I bought my 2nd paperback (I lost my 1st one cos my family moved a lot) then the illustrated edition when it came out. 😊

I never thought I'd be someone to buy more than one edition of the same book, but after almost two years on #bookstagramPH here we are. In my defense, 1) it's my birthday, 2) I bought these books from local publishers and sellers, and 3) these are different translations of the Philipines' two Greatest Novels™, so I think I'm more than justified in collecting them.

I also have a personal project to read all the translations of this novel that speak—English and Filipino.

And, tbh, the covers are just too pretty to pass.
