Danger Space -  at the distanced station

Pixel art for today based on videogame  Chouon Senshi Borgman for game console Sega Master System. Game is about robot cyborg. Borg. It is science fiction. Format 80s. Robot at space station. Even this one thing already sounds as something interesting.

And this my is drawing based on. Space defense is built on cyborgs and special training humans. By alarm signal you are running through space station. Someone makes attempt to attack this space station at far space frontier. It can be a little robots quadroids. They are like square robots with little wheels. Strange automatic robots. They do not speak. They only do cut a metal. And it is good to stop them all the time. And they are equipped with weapons. And if somebody disturb them, they start to fire with lasers. And shaking manipulators all the sides. It is impossible to contact with them. They are just move to metal plains and cut them off. And after it, it goes a big robot and take metal with himself.

It can be insect-hunters. They also don’t speak. They do a hiss.  And all the time they are hunting everything that is alive. They are big as high as humans are, two legend insects. They are striking with poison liquid with green color. And they are all the time are searching for new victims. They can move with two legs and with four legs too. They are watching prey and attack. They can attack from upper side of the corridor or lower side.

At last, it can be a special teams with cyborgs sent by cybernetical league. Or special team forces by sturmvids. At formal way, we are at peace state with them. But reality is that clashes are going all the time. It is called a grey war. And it is like not exists. And contains a standalone clashes. And every time  -it is a random mistake. It is all you can hear. As they sat - it is a grey zone. And they don’t want to hear anything else.

Cybernetical league – all of them were humanoids in the past. But they decide to go a way of self-modifications and become a cyborgs. Now they think they are more clever than any humanoid type or biological specie. Visual they look like humans. But made of metal. They keep with themselves a compact devices. They do not like to speak with humanoids. And it is already a good thing that it is already done – a some contact a level of space universe line. They decide that machines are overcome any biological specie. And sometimes it is possible to have a dialogue with them. Especially when they have a problems with some else biological specie. At the other side of their border. And then, they are more calm in this space sector.

Sturmvids – they are same humans as at the planet Earth. But from Andromeda. They are similar in everything with humans from Earth. Same visual, same technological level.  Of course, a little difference in design of space ships. But, mainly, plus minus, we are the same in anything. And, mainly, we can have a good relationship. But they think, that they come to this space frontier first, and in another space sector they are first too, and in other one - same situation. And that’s why it is a clashes all the time. They are from planet Sturm. And call themselves Sturmvids. And humans from Earth they call – Farvids. Mainy, we can deal, and ok to have a dialogue. Have a trade in resources and technologies. But at space frontiers these clashes are all the time. And sturmvids take a idea that nothing happens. They know nothing about that. It is things that made by someone else. And all the time, immediately they say – they don’t want a big conflict. Nobody wants it. And it is point to agree, all the time.

And that’s why you are in a space special forces. Defending space borders. Defending space frontier. As you see there are lots of danger in space. And here it goes again alarm signal. It if first at this week. And last week was calm. It was a lucky moment. And who send insects-hunters with space capsules? They are rather stupid insects, actually. So, it is interesting question.

So in Tsunkatse not!Weyoun told Seven that people hated the Borg and would pay big money just to see a Borg Drone hurt.

I can only imagine xBs forced to fight in illegal underground fights.

Victimized by the Borg, hunted for parts, fighting in the illegal underground circuit.

Former Borg drone's lives suck.

Also, Seven has such an interesting relationship with the Hirogen. The third time Seven and Voyager encountered a Hirogen he was hunting Species 8472, the only entity to really give the Borg a run for their money.

And Seven and the Hirogen hunter had a brief moment of understanding, Seven feared Species 8472 because of that Seven deliberately disobeyed Janeway's order to save Species 8472.

Then this beauty:

Seven: One day the Borg will assimilate your species despite your arrogance. When that moment arrives remember me.

Fast forward to Star Trek Picard, and in the Artifact there is indeed a Hirogen ex-Borg.

Uh... yay?

Also, there was that one Hirogen in Tsunkatse that took Seven in as a student to help her survive Tsunkatse.

I love how in Picard S3 Worf classified Raffi as a Warrior.

And, Hirogens look at Seven fight and call her a Hunter.

I love all through the episode, Seven is disturbed by this, and it's because she's afraid what the Hirogen says is true.

She already has a lot of blood on her hands. As one former Red Room assassin said, Seven of Nine has a lot of red in her ledger.

Seven: The idea of killing someone for the entertainment of others is detestable. Tuvok: Is the idea of losing your own life for the entertainment of others more palatable?

Tuvok: As a drone, you took many lives. Seven: I was acting as part of the Collective. Tuvok: You're worried you won't have the strength to accomplish the task on your own.

Seven: I'm worried that I will.

In the end, Seven and the Hirogen mentor battled it out and it was a pretty even fight until Seven began to take the upper hand.

Before Seven would issue a killing blow they were both beamed out (Tuvok was the first who was beamed out).

The Hirogen hunter asks Seven if she would have killed him, Seven took a long pause before answering: "I don't know."

I love the ambiguity of that but also fast forward 20 years later:

After 13 years, Seven of Nine finally found her quarry and killed Bjayzl.

The Hirogen fighter would have been proud.

Rewatched the Enterprise episode "Dead Stop" and thinking how much more interesting it would have been if this was a remnant of early Borgs. A sort of first step on the way to future hive minds. Just an idea.

Cold day and quake

Country house, country house. Sweet village. So, it is already month June. But, to my surprise, it was cold weather. And I need to change shorts for jeans. So, this time, it was really cold, but without rain. Clouds in the sky. And when sun goes from the clouds, then it was getting warmer. And, by the evening, weather starts to be better. And I was basked under the sun in the evening. I watched the trees. You know, country house is in the forest. And I watched the sky.

And, of course, I spent time, also with videogames. After, some little village tasks. I sit down and play. In my Windows Xp notebook. I try several games. By serious, I run simulation. Harpoon Classic 97. It is some style sea simulation, or better say, strategy game. About theme of radars, oceans, land, and mainly about ships and submarines. 

It was about times 80s or 90s, I think. And game is more serious, than I expect. I don’t understand at all. How to play it. So, even hurricanes can happen in the sea. Before my eyes, there is a strategy map. Lots of ships and submarines and you need to do something. I don’t get, what to do.

 I try to continue play in Crimsonland. I stuck at level Arachnid Farm. It is already episode 2. In mode with levels. Game has lots of play mode, by the way. And lots of weapons, bonuses, and even has upgrade system. It is made with perks. You gain experience for monsters and choose a new skill. Such a funny arcade. Shooter. Game is just a meat, you know.

 A most of all, in a dusky day. Better to say, just grey and cold day. I was playing, of course, in Quake 2. I move forward pretty good. I reach episode, or how, they called here – missions. Such a super big length levels. Up to the stage Jail. It was a scene with a big gun. Such gun, to shoot in the sky. You cannot sit before it. But after the gun it was an enemy. It was such effect. And, mainly, enemies become more evil. And more strong. And stage is jail. It is rather dark place. I need to say.

 Some change in locations. If previous stage was industrial base, technological base. And this stage is different, it reminds about medieval architecture from first quake. But only reminds. There is also a place for computers, and it is also industrial place.

 I noticed, that labyrinths are become trickier. So, mainly, you are going just forward. But you need to push something. Get up with the lift, take useful item. And that’s why it become more tricky to play. Multi floor architecture.

 There are places with water regions and underwater. It is large territory, saying in another words, for your explore. As I say before, you can walk these maps. You can have a walk on a map. And even more, you need to do that, because computer gives you some tasks. And now I am reading carefully everything, that computer writes to me. Button F1 is your best friend. It writes to you what to do and where to go.

 I take a notice, that some locations are made like a circle, you can go by circles. You, if you do not know where to go, then you will get lost. Because it is a round and circles. And enemies will catch you. And some places there is a screaming alarm signal here. And all the time all these cyborgs, half humanoids, half humans are running at you. It is serious war game is here. You intrude with automatic gun to the enemy base. And you are making some task here. Man, you know, no jokes, it is scary. Especially at level stage Jail.

 It is a dark place. There are your soldiers in the prison cells here. But they are already gone mad after experiments. We can see, that not all of them will become cyborgs or borgs. It is a scary picture. So, one soldier speaks – “Lets go”. Some one another is screaming something. Third is hitting his head about the floor, while he is at his knees, or if he stands, then he hit his head into the wall. Scary place. No jokes. And I don’t have sunny day, also. And it is a cold day. It is getting more of this atmosphere. It is intense situation and cold.

Machinegun takes, as I see, same ammo as automatic gun. And I don’t have time to make sure while a battle time. But machinegun use ammo very fast. It starting rotating for a long time. And fast blowing bullets. Works well. But usage of ammo is so big, that very fast, you will be out of ammo. I am, standing for automatic gun. As for me, it is more close to me. Automatic fire saving situations, all the time.

 Shotgun is not bad. But you need to aim from a right distance. To the head or body. It depends on how strong is enemy is. Some enemies, you cannot take just with shotgun, and you need to fire 5-6 shotguns slow strikes.

 You are out of ammo all the time. And I even play on level easy. And I become dead many times. I make a load and try again. Shotgun is good against who is small or weak. And in other situations, it is good with automatic gun. Or is it Uzi into his hands. I say automatic gun, saying simple.

I pick up all the time, healing things. It helps a lot. Location jail is made in another style. With elements as medieval, as industrial. There is some pyramid here. It is a several people in high. Not high, but higher than a human. As one and a half of human size, or little higher. And it is something like their computer. And lots of running because of this pyramid. First, you need disk to bring. Then to go to another part of the map. And all the time computer will tell you what to do.

 Game has a good music. It is playing rock music. It is nice to listen to it. Or such heavy metal. Or minor rock with gothic mood, but rock. It happens, that when you walk this labyrinth a lot of time, then music stop to play. And you go with silence and hear screams of monsters. And it is wind blowing outside. And red sky. Effects and music are cool here.

 So, in result, I think quake is good game. And there is a change of locations. And there is something to surprise player. With more fat and hard to hit monsters. And tasks – like bring disk, activate pyramid. Find computer and restart it. Something like this. And all the time, it is feeling, that you are on enemy territory.

 And, I finish with country house theme note. At the evening, I was just standing about half of hour under the sun. It basks, but it is not a heat. And it was a rather cold wind. North, maybe. But sun basked. I simply was standing under the sun and watched the sky and trees. I spent time very good. But, day, was cold for summer. But I remember this day. And I played in quake very good!

I wondered what happened to all the non-Romulan people who worked in the Borg Cube Artificat after Seven took control, and it turns out there was a short scene that was deleted.

It's still not quite what I want -- which is how ex-Borgs are still terrifying.

They have the duality of both being terrifying and also, victims. They are both. I wish this was filmed a little more ambiguous -- the great thing though I can see one of the few things I do love about seasons 1 and 2 over season 3.

I just wish season 1 did more with the Borg -- like the scene with Seven in the Cube and Becoming a Queen -- GREAT but also, I feel like they undersold that moment. It should have weight and gravity because this is such a Moment.

But yeah, the show is called Picard so I get it too.

Still, they underused the xBs so much in season 1 -- they didn't even connect the Synths and ex-Borgs. Seven and Hugh didn't even meet onscreen.
