Curled up on the sofa, wrapped in blankets and not noticing that the movie you were watching had ended, you didn't realize that your boyfriend, Yunhyeong had arrived home. He stood in front of the TV, hands filled with groceries that he was waving around to catch your attention while you were still spaced out.
"Babe! I'm home!!" he called out for the third time.
With a sigh, he dropped the groceries and then dropped himself on you, wrapping you in a hug. His coat smelled like the rain and the stubble of his chin tickled your forehead.
"Hm?" you groaned, finally realizing his presence.
"[y/n], what's wrong? Why are you so spaced out?" Yunhyeong asked you, pulling away so he could get a good look at you.
"I don't know... I just feel a little blue," you mumbled, pulling down your boyfriend's black mask, revealing his worried expression.
"Hmm... I'm sorry I haven't been home these days to take care of you, since we're preparing for a comeback, but... I'll make it up to you now, okay?!" Yunhyeong exclaimed.
"Yun... It's 12am!" you pointed out, laughing.
"So? Perfect time for a date!" he said, pulling your arm and forcing you up.
"My face is so puffy right now from being half asleep all day," you groaned.
"And I haven't shaved in a couple of days, but that's fine! Let's go!" Yunhyeong said, pressing a warm kiss to your forehead.
He held out his hand to you and tilted his head, asking you, without saying anything, if you'd join him on this adventure. And you took his hand, letting him guide you to the bedroom so you could get changed as Yunhyeong put the groceries that he bought away.
Once you were ready, he took hold of your hand and whisked you out of your apartment, wisely picking up an umbrella on the way. When you stepped outside, it began to lightly drizzle, and you were thankful for Yunhyeong and the umbrella he brought as he opened it and held it over you. He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close so both of you would fit under it, but still tilted the umbrella more towards you so you wouldn't get wet, even if it meant his shoulders would get a little soaked.
Luckily, in the dark of the night, no one was out on the streets and Yunhyeong could get away with only wearing a hood, still not being recognized.
"So where are you taking me, Yun?" you asked, your voice just audible over the sound of the rain.
"To the sea!" he exclaimed, excitedly.
"In this weather?" you asked.
"We're already outside... so let's just go all the way!"
Luckily, the Han river was near your house - you always called it the sea - and Yunhyeong was able to take you there.
It was fairly empty of people as you sat right by the water, except for the few people who were running and rushing to get home in the rain. Yunhyeong held your cold hand in his, warming yours up while gazing at you, lovingly.
"[y/n], now that we're here... you know what you have to do," he told you.
You gave him a questioning look.
"Shout all your worries into the sea! Here, I'll go first," Yunhyeong said, facing away from you for a second and turning to the water in front of him.
"I WISH THE IKON BOYS WOULD LISTEN TO ME A BIT MORE!" he shouted, laughing afterwards. You laughed along with him, slapping his shoulder.
"Yunhyeong, be quiet! Someone might hear you..."
"There's no one here, babe," he said, pressing a kiss to your damp cheek.
"Now, your turn!"
You shyly turned to the water before you, taking a deep breath before raising a quiet shout:
"Why is it so damn hard to live!" you yelled, tears forming in the corners of your eyes.
You leaned your head on Yunhyeong's shoulder and he caressed the top of your head with his hand that wasn't holding the umbrella.
"Living is hard, [y/n], but you're doing such a great job," Yunhyeong mumbled into your hair.
Watching the dark water drift by, the soft, yellow light of the city lights and the gentle hue of the sky while being pressed against Yunhyeong made you feel alive, and you let out a sigh of relief.
"Do you feel a bit better, babe?" Yunhyeong asked, and you nodded.
"I'm glad to hear it," Yunhyeong said, reaching up to stroke your cheek with his thumb.
"Do you feel cold? Yunhyeong asked, looking into your eyes.
You nodded, slowly.
"Just a bit," you said.
Yunhyeong flashed a playful, meaningful grin before standing up and touching your shoulder.
"Tag, you're it!" he said before running away.
"In this rain you're gonna make me chase you?" you yelled after him, still standing up to run behind him.
He laughed, looking up at the sky while running and slowing himself before almost falling in a puddle, giving you time to catch up and wrap your arms around him from the back in a tight bear hug. After kissing the top of your hand lightly, Yunhyeong let you run away so he could chase after you this time. When he caught you, he held your face with both hands and peppered it with a million kisses using those soft lips of his, stirring butterflies within you.
The two of you giggled a lot under the rain, running in circles after each other by the water until you were tired, but in a good way. It was the kind of exhaustion that you feel after you know you've had a good day - the kind of exhaustion that tells you you'll be sleeping well tonight.
"Are you ready to head back to bed?" Yunhyeong asked you, taking your hand and guiding you away from the water.
You nodded.
"But let's shower first! I'm drenched," you said.
"Does a warm bubble bath sound okay?" Yunhyeong excitedly suggested, swinging your hand in his.
"It sounds lovely," you replied.

Back From The Military

iKON x GN! Reader
A/N They're kinda lengthy about 250 - 300 words each because I got a bit carried away sorry about that ahah. I'd like to stress that this is fictional and if you don't like it move on and don't read.
Tumblr media
B.I - He comes home early in the morning; you’d just come off a night shift two hours before he got in. You wished you could have been there, but he understood. Not long after you had slipped in bed dozing off, did you feel the bed dip and a presence settle beside you? You knew it was your boyfriend, so you tried to make the effort to wake up some more despite how much sleep was trying to pull you back under. “Hey.” You croaked out; voice scratchy from sleep. “Go back to sleep” he murmured cuddling into you further. “Missed you” you confessed, stubbornly clinging to trying to be awake. It had been a while since you had last properly seen him after all, “I know. Missed you too, now go sleep.” He gently scolded, dropping a kiss on your head. Then dropping one on your lips as you sleepily pouted them up at him. He knew how tired you were but how much you wanted to be awake to talk to him however that could wait for later, he’s more than happy to just cuddle you feeling content and at peace with you back in his arms. You let yourself be pulled back into sleep, lulled by his presence and warmth. It felt good now knowing you didn’t have to sleep alone in your big bed, that he could now once again cuddle you to sleep, that you could just be wrapped up in his warm, loving, caring embrace knowing that you’d both sleep peacefully that night.
Jinhwan– Time was kind, although the length of the enlistment was long, it had actually gone by quick. His service was so close to being done and over now just a few more hours until you could see him again. You kept fussing over the decorations you had put up, balloons and banners to welcome him home, despite them already being perfect. Anything to stop you from keeping still as you were vibrating with too much excitement. He was due any minute now, his parents who were the first to see him, dropping him off. The sound of the code being punched into the door’s keypad echoed in the apartment and then it really hit home that he was back. You could barely stop your eyes welling up with tears when he walked in just overwhelmed by all the feelings, the longing, happiness, tinge of sadness for the time you’ve had to spend apart. “Don’t cry.” He said rushing over to you, to hold you tight in his arms. You shed a few more tears but sobered up quickly, not wanting to sob and snot all over him. “God, I missed you so fucking much.” You sighed; you were happy to have him back but also a little overwhelmed still – just a big mix mess of emotions. “I’m here now.” He said holding onto you tighter, knowing how much you missing him has been hell because he felt the same about you.
Yunhyeong –It was a tearful goodbye when he left, and an even more tearful time spent missing him. Not having your rock to come home to, to face life by your side was hard, after all, you were more or less living in two different worlds. Now even as you stood waiting with all respective people who had come along to reunite with their own people, you couldn’t help but curse mandatory military service. You had missed him terribly and were more than ready for the pain of missing him to go away as you stand awaiting your boyfriend to be released back to you. You didn’t have to wait long though, your eyes trained in on him like a hawk and you struggled your way through the crowd and jumped straight into his arms as soon as you broke free. His quick reflexes caught you in time, so you didn’t fall on your arse. Tight wasn’t the word you were more or less choking him with how tight you were hugging him, practically smothering him but with loving intent not murderous. “You have no idea how much I missed you.” He spoke beating you to it as you were going to say the exact same thing. “I’ve missed you more but okay.” You teased. “So glad it’s over now, don’t wanna see you leave like that again.” He made a noise of agreement and you both stood there for only God knows how long in your own little world just wrapped up in each other.
BOBBY - Staring down at the time displayed on the phone seemed to be a constant, clicking it on for the time to flash up on the screen only every second to check the time only to see it was the same as it was a second ago. Then clicking it on again a second after it had gone off to find time had indeed moved but only by a minute. It wasn’t going as fast as you wanted it and it only left you all the more impatient which led you to being on edge. Waiting for the moment he would walk through that door, for real this time, not like in you’re all too realistic daydreams, and swear to you, military service is all over. “I’m back.” He called, those simple words meaning the world to you. You let out a strangled noise of excitement, rushing over to jump on him – to smother him with your love. He catches you effortlessly, him beating you to the passionate kiss you were about to plant on him, by planting it on your before you could on him. Once you broke away from the kiss, you joked “diagnose me with separation anxiety now because I’m not letting you leave me from now on.” Making him laugh at your theatrics. But he understood, he thought about and missed you every day in the military. “I’ll marry you soon, so you’re stuck with me.” He hummed out happily, slipping an engagement ring onto your finger out of nowhere leaving you gaping at the sudden, odd but loving proposal
Donghyuk – Counting down the days turned into counting down the hours, and now counting down the hours turned into counting down the minutes. Counting down until you could see your boyfriend again, as he was now free from the military. You were proud of him for doing his service, knowing the strength it takes mentally and physically, but more than happy that he was seconds away from returning to you. You’d actually felt like you’d sent him of to war, but that was just you being dramatic, validly so though because well you were sending him into the military. He was coming straight from the military not even changing so he said, to meet you at the place where you first met. It was a request that he texted you this morning, and it left you as curious as you were excited to finally be in his arms again. T minutes two minutes and he was walking up to you, early not that you minded – the earlier the better. As soon as he was close enough to touch you, he pulled you into his arms and you reciprocated hugging him back tighter than ever. “I love you, missed you.” You both confessed at the same time. The pair of you tearing up a little just a little emotional from being physically back with each other again. Once you pulled away, he spoke up. “I missed you so much whilst I was away, and I thought about this a lot. I want to give you a promise ring. To promise that one day in the near future, it will be replaced by and engagement ring with a wedding ring the eventually join.” He slipped the promise ring on your finger, making the day even more special. A day to really remember in the future.
Ju-ne - Missing him was an experience to never go through again. Even there was the understanding it was mandatory military service, it didn’t take away from the fact that you missed him near enough every day. You survived on little communication and few and far in-between visits to him when he got days off, but no more. Today was D Day, he was coming home, and you couldn’t be happier. Although you couldn’t meet him right the moment he was discharged because you had work, it didn’t put a damper on your spirits. You were practically vibrating with anticipation all day, still feeling energized even after a long day at work. “Did somebody call for a soldier?” He teased as soon as you had rushed through the door. Joking back, you reply “Only if he comes with a striptease.” You try to stifle your laughter, but it comes out anyway. He watches on fond, having missed the sight of you laughing. Before you know it, you’re being pulled into a kiss, reciprocating you make sure to put all your feelings of love, happiness, and missing him into it. You were glad he was back, so glad you could get back to life with him, to create memories with your boyfriend that you would cherish forever. Happy to be thrown back into domestic bliss with him.
Chanwoo – It felt like this time couldn’t have come quick enough, after near a lifetime since he left now, he was coming home, And damn sure he was never leaving again for that long anytime soon. You stood there in the crowd of parents and partners alike of the soldiers watching fondly as they were reunited with each other. It was a beautiful thing to see, something you’d experience once you could bloody find him. You tried searching for Chanwoo, but it was kind of hard in the sea of soldiers all wearing the same uniform. Suddenly though you felt yourself, engulfed in a big hug - familiar strong arms wrapping around you. You knew who it was without a doubt, so you throw your arms around him in return squeezing him so hard, trying to convey exactly how much you missed him. Only he knew because it was the same amount as he missed you, though it didn’t stop you from wrapping around him like cobra jaws. When you broke apart from the hug, you pulled him in for a long passionate kiss PDA be damned. “I’m so happy you’re back now.” You spoke up, eyes threatening to well up with tears in response to the overwhelming different feelings you felt. “I missed you too.” He sighed happily, keeping you tight in his arms.

a/n: Hello! This plot just randomly came to mind. It's kind of sad and a little angsty but you'll get through reading it. I promise! also, the words in italics is a flashback :)
Tumblr media
Your family has been a close family friend to the Lee’s family and that was because your mother and Mrs Lee were best friends since high school. Also the reason why you were only 27 days older than Mr and Mrs Lee’s only son. However, not everyone has a happy friendship. In this case, it was you and the said son. His name was Lee Sangyeon and it was pretty obvious that you two could never get along since you were in diapers.
Despite your mothers being best friends and have been for the past 30 years, give or take. It’s no wonder that when they were pregnant with the both of you, they kept fighting with each other over small silly things when they barely got past even the slightest of arguments throughout their friendship.
And yet, it seems like luck was never on your side to begin with because throughout your whole education life up till today, he always ends up in your school or at least the school that you chose specifically hoping to be as far from him as possible.
It always baffles you how he would be the first person you spot amongst the crowd during the first day of school.
Did he do all these on purpose?
Why would he go to this extent just to annoy you if you both hated each other?
Maybe he didn’t in fact do this on purpose, but still, what are the odds that you end up in the same campus amongst the hundreds of schools available? That was a mystery you never plan on solving.
It was a bright Tuesday afternoon, students were scattered all over the large campus of Hangang University. You had just parked your car in a free space, exiting your vehicle before proceeding to lock it and walk towards the Computer Science building. You were halfway through the parking lot when someone suddenly swung an arm over your shoulder.
“Good morning my favourite person in the world!” Lisa giggled to your left as Rosie appeared on your right with her usual beaming smile that could melt hearts with just a glance.
“Hey girls, you’re early” You asked with a soft chuckle knowing Lisa was always late for class.
“Yeah, I wanted to leave my apartment now like I always do but Rosie begged me to drive her today because her baby is in the workshop.” Lisa huffs, only for the blonde girl on your right to defend herself.
“Hey, at least we got here on time. You’re welcome.”
With that, Lisa stuck out her tongue at Rosie, earning a laugh from you. The three of you continued to walk to the CS building, only to find Jennie and Jisoo chatting by the lockers while Jennie scavenged through her locker.
Tumblr media
“Ew, is it just me or is the barbeque chicken a little dry today?” Jisoo scowls as she drops the chicken leg back onto her plate.
“No, I agree. It’s foul.” Lisa’s face contorts in disgust before you speak up.
“Do you guys want my salmon instead? I'm kind of full already.” You said, only to find them staring at you in concern. They began asking you if you were feeling okay and if you needed any medication of any sorts. To which you shook your head and just told them you were already full from the breakfast your mother made for you before she left for work with your dad.
Lisa and Jisoo ended up sharing your salmon piece, making you smile. At least your food wouldn’t be wasted, you thought.
A few hours later, your classes for the day were finally over. All you know is that your bed has been waiting for your arrival since the minute you left for school. You left class slightly later, telling the girls you had something to discuss with your lecturer regarding the assignment.
You told them to just head home first and not wait for you.
Almost 20 minutes later, you finally left the lecture room to head towards the parking lot where you had parked your car earlier. Your mind was clouded with the assignment requirements as you scrolled through the soft copy of the assignment through your email, too caught up in your thoughts to notice the group of boys walking down the hall.
That wasn’t until your shoulder roughly collided against someone’s back. It sent your whole body to stumble back from the impact. You were about to apologize when you heard a snicker coming from whoever it was.
So you glanced up and lord behold, it was just the person you were looking for…
Not really.
“Can you pay attention to where you walk? It’s not that hard to use your eyes.” Sangyeon’s voice was monotonous yet a pitch higher than others, just like his ego.
“That’s because you’re in my way, Lee.” You said sarcastically as you walked past him, not forgetting to purposely bump into his arm. He let out a scoff under his breath, fiery glare burning a prominent hole into the back of your head.
God, you can be such a pain in the ass sometimes. Him included.
A few days later, it was finally a Friday. You heard words going around campus saying that one of the seniors in the school’s football team was having a frat party at his place tonight. He invited everyone in the football team, and people that he knew. Turns out he also told his teammates to bring whoever they wanted whether he knows them or not.
Lucky for you (or maybe not), Rosie’s boyfriend happens to be one of the football players. If you remember correctly, his name is Yunhyeong.
And so you already know where this is going.
Hence, the reason why you were now standing right outside the house where the party was held.
No doubt the house was a beautiful landed property at the hills that overlooked the city, it still didn’t give you complete comfort knowing that you would be surrounded by drunk young adults who have no care in the world once the alcohol takes over their system.
Sure you sometimes go to these parties but you weren’t really that type of girl. It’s always an unpleasant surprise to others who aren't your girls, when you decline their offers of alcohol saying you don’t drink.
Though there were instances where you’d have some people still insisting on giving you a drink, you rejected them firmly whether they liked it or not.
And today was no different.
One moment, you were talking to your friends. Another moment, and you were suddenly left alone by the kitchen island. Isolating yourself from the countless intoxicated bodies, dancing freely without a single care in the world.
It suddenly dawned on you that you were indeed alone, with no other individual that you recognize in that huge house. Your friends were scattered around the main living area, each of them either with their significant other or just randomly hooking up with someone. Using alcohol as an excuse to be brave and approach someone at a party like this.
You sighed, reaching into your back pocket to fish for your phone. You were so close to texting them you wanted to head home first, when a deep voice broke your little bubble of thoughts.
“Hey… Y/N right?” The handsome boy asked as he smiled down at you softly.
He clearly didn’t seem too drunk, nor was he completely sober like you.
“Yeah… you are?” You asked, hoping you didn’t sound like a bitch.
“I’m Changkyun. I see your friends have left you so I thought maybe you’d want some company?”
Well, at least he’s being considerate enough.
“About that… I was actually about to-” As you were talking, your eyes were searching the room for at least one of the girls. But instead, your gaze was locked on a specific individual who was leaning against the staircase railings just staring at you with a subtle frown on his face, making your voice halt in your throat.
It was Sangyeon.
You should’ve known he would be there tonight. He’s the freaking midfielder in Hangang U’s soccer team for goodness sake!
For some reason, the moment you met his eyes, it was as though you got sucked into a black hole with no way to escape. That wasn’t until the warm touch on your arm made you jolt away and soon turned back to Changkyun who was now staring at you with worry.
“Hey? You okay? What’s wrong?” He asked, hoping he didn’t scare you away by that simple touch.
“Y-Yeah… Sorry Changkyun, but I think I’m gonna head home. See you around.” You gave him a sincere smile before turning to leave after he said his goodbye.
There is no way you’re gonna stay there any longer. It’s not like you were drunk or anything. Not like you’d expected him to show up in black leather pants, dark grey button down shirt tucked in, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, his hair parted close to the middle to frame his face and show his forehead, attractively. And definitely not like you felt as though your stomach was doing a flip in your abdomen after seeing him there physically.
Right?
No. You still hate him. He’s just a walking nuisance in your life. You don’t feel anything for him. Maybe he needs to stop appearing in your line of vision every 5 minutes.
It’s been two weeks since that frat party in which you had texted your friends saying you were already at home. Of course you didn’t get a response immediately but they still replied to you the next morning, telling you they were safe and they were glad that you were too.
It was a rainy Wednesday afternoon where students were all stuck on campus with nowhere to go. You were just seated at a wooden table alone with your laptop and scattered notes on the surface when the ray of sunlight that was previously shining down on you, got blocked by a figure.
You glanced up and not surprisingly, it was Sangyeon. He was alone. For once. He was always with his friends, so you wondered why he chose to walk around alone today.
“What?” You asked nonchalantly before looking back down at your laptop.
You heard a scoff from him only for him to speak up, “Did your parents tell you?”
You got confused as you looked back up to him and blinked, incredulously at what he just asked you.
“Tell me what?” You asked. He wasn’t sure if he was faking it or not but he figured with how genuinely confused you look, it was quite clear you weren’t pretending to not know what he was referring to.
“My parents are coming over to your home this weekend to discuss ‘something serious’. I’m not going. I’m not about to sit there and listen to what the ‘something serious’ is, let alone sit there trapped and stare at you the whole night.” Sangyeon said blankly as he burned holes in your head.
“Good. I wouldn’t want you there anyway.” You scoffed, only for him to push himself off the table and smoothed down his shirt.
Sangyeon left without saying anything else, watching as he turned his head as though in search of his friends. However, the minute you looked back down at your laptop, it seems like you missed the way he glanced at you subtly before turning back in front.
That same day, you went home to find your parents in the living room. Your father was watching the news on the flat screen tv while your mother was just watering the potted plants on the shelves.
The minute you stepped into the living room, your father turned to you and smiled brightly, “Oh, sweetie you’re back. We wanted to tell you that Mr and Mrs-” but before he could finish, you did it for him, stunning them in the process.
“-Lee are coming over this weekend to discuss ‘something serious’... I know.”
With that, your mother and father glanced at each other before a smile appeared on their faces again. You already knew what they were about to ask so you beat them to it.
“Sangyeon told me… So what’s so serious that they wanna come over here and talk about it?” You asked, not knowing what to expect but all you got was silence.
“We have to wait till everyone’s there.”
“Not everyone’s gonna be there…” You said.
“What do you mean?” Your mother asked.
“Sangyeon said he’s not coming. He doesn't want to.”
“B-But, he has to be there. It’s important.”
“What’s so important that he has to be there for?” Your voice laced with annoyance at the thought of having to sit in a room with him for minutes too long. Your parents got quiet before your mother spoke up again but for some reason, her voice sounded weak.
“You’ll know on Saturday.” She gave you a weak smile. Too weak to the point that she almost looks… pale?
Why is she pale?
But your mind was too jumbled up with what the main topic for this said family dinner would revolve around. Hence, why you were now sprinting up the steps and to your room. You didn’t want to think about it anymore. You just hoped the weekend passes by before you know it.
Tumblr media
Saturday came in a flash and to say you were ready for whatever family gathering this was, is definitely a lie. You were curious. You were desperate to know just what important business is there to discuss with you and Sangyeon. Despite knowing he won’t be there for whatever this meeting is about, it still rendered you curious on just how important this said matter is.
You were told to look presentable even though you’ll just be at home. So you pulled out the nicest outfit you could find and just opted for a simple blouse and your denim jeans.
Once you were done getting ready, you left your room only to hear your mother calling out to you from downstairs, “Y/N sweetie, the Lee’s are here!”
You made your way down the marbled steps, ready to greet the elder couple when your eyes fell on their son who clearly said he wasn’t going to be here. But of course, it looked like he had been forced against his own will to be here and you were right.
“Oh! My sweet Y/N! It’s been so long. How are you my dear?” Mrs Lee asked as you broke your gaze from Sangyeon only to smile happily when you looked at his parents.
“Hello Mr and Mrs Lee. I’m doing well despite my crazy uni life. I hope you’re both well and healthy!” You said as Mrs Lee hugged you warmly like how she had been doing since you were young.
After greeting them, the 6 of you began walking to your dining room. You then turned to Sangyeon who was walking beside you, only to ask out of curiosity, “Didn’t you say you weren’t gonna come?”
With that, he turns to you and shoots daggers at you through his glare but it does nothing to scare you away.
“Do I look like I wanna be here?”
“Clearly.” You said, just to get on his nerves and it did.
“Fuck you.”
“I’d gladly fuck myself too.”
Sangyeon frowns at your comment despite knowing it was sarcastic. But he still found it amusing that it came out from your mouth. Sure you’ve cursed him a lot of times when you fought with him, but this was a different thing.
All of you finally sat down in the dining room, you helped your mother set the table.
A few minutes went by and everyone was just chatting amongst one another. Well, more specifically the elders while you and Sangyeon simply sat there across each other in silence. You were absentmindedly picking on your food, suddenly losing appetite.
All you wanted was for them to start discussing the very important business. Which is why your patience has run thin, making you blurt out the question that has been floating in your head since Wednesday.
“What’s the important thing you called me and Sangyeon here for?”
The room fell silent as you kept your eyes on your plate of untouched food. Completely ignoring the way Sangyeon had his eyes trained on you. After what felt like hours, your mother finally announced it.
It made your heart stop for a moment.
“We have decided to marry you off with Sangyeon.”
That was the last thing you ever wanted to hear from them. Never did you expect it to be this. Why were they doing this to you? Of course you know you’re single and not dating anyone but still… How could they?
“What?!” Both you and Sangyeon said in unison.
Tension filled the air, thick in its wake. You couldn’t look elsewhere except for your mother who had announced the news.
“You’ve got to be kidding me…” You mumbled under your breath as Sangyeon got up, letting the chair drag painfully across the wooden floor. His mother grabbed his wrist to stop him but he roughly yanked his wrist from her and simply replied with his firm answer, “There’s no way I’m marrying her. I’m out.”
Sangyeon stormed out and you were so tempted to do the same but all you could do was glare at your parents in disbelief.
“Sweetie-” Your mom began but you were quick to interject.
“No! That’s not happening! Mom, you know we hate each other! How can you ask me to marry him when I don’t even love him?!” Your voice was raised as you stood up from your seat. Blood boils in your veins, heart pounding rapidly in your chest out of pure anger. You wanted nothing more but to scream.
You turned in your heels to leave but your mother caught your hands when you were about to reach the stairs. You pulled your hand from her grip, throwing your arm behind your back from the force.
“Sweetie please, listen to me-”
“No mom! I’m not marrying him and that’s final!” You yelled, too furious to even notice the way your mom had clutched her chest as her breathing started to become shallow.
Before you knew it, your mother collapsed to the ground but you were quick to catch her body right when she was about to crash onto the hard wooden floor.
“Mom!” You gasped as your dad and both of Sangyeon’s parents rushed over to where you were.
Mr Lee called the ambulance in which they came just 10 minutes later, carrying your mother’s unconscious body onto the stretcher and bringing her into the ambulance. Your father followed her in the vehicle while Mr Lee offered you a ride there.
Hours passed and you were waiting patiently outside the ER when a doctor came out. Your dad rushed over so you could only guess that she was the one who attended to your mom.
“Doctor, how’s my wife?”
“Your wife’s still under constant checks but so far, her heart is beating stably. However, it seems that her abnormal white blood cells have rapidly multiplied since her last check up.” The doctor said, making you frown.
“White blood cells? What’s going on? What’s wrong with my mother?” You asked desperately, still not sure of what’s going on.
“Your mother was diagnosed with Leukaemia stage 2 but from what I saw today, I believe it’s now up to stage 4.” The doctor announced, making you even more confused.
“What?” You whispered as you stared at your dad, hoping that it’s not true. But all you got was a disheartened smile that broke you into a million pieces.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” You whispered to him sadly, upset that they’ve been keeping this a secret from you.
“I’m sorry baby, but your mother told me not to. She… She didn’t want you to get worried.” He replied.
You don’t understand. You knowing about this was better than keeping it hidden from you. If you had known about this sooner, you wouldn’t have shouted at her. Instead, you would have taken extra care of her. You would have given her more love than what she gave you. And you wouldn’t have to stand here, right now, hoping for your mother’s safety and health.
You slumped onto one of the chairs, staring into space as your father rubbed soft circles into your back to calm you down.

Three days passed and you have been visiting your mother at the hospital diligently after your classes. You stayed till night time, allowing your dad to fetch you from the hospital after he also came by to visit your mom.
You were currently alone in the room with your mom as your dad went out to buy dinner for all three of you.
She was just lying there sleeping peacefully after having a deep conversation with her about some things, her eyes now closed, breathing consistent, chest heaving up and down according to her oxygen intake.
You were just about to doze off when the heart rate monitor suddenly began beeping rapidly. It caused you to panic as you ran out of the room to call for the nurses.
When you came back, your mother was shaking on the hospital bed. Tears started streaming down your face as you found yourself curled up in the corner just watching the hospital staff do whatever is necessary to help your mother.
You didn’t notice your dad who had just come back, only to rush to you after putting the food down on the desk. It was when he cupped your face, that you finally realized his presence.
He pulled you against him as you couldn’t tear your eyes off your mother’s figure, shaking violently on the bed.
It was as though someone had dropped a bomb just a few feet away, a deafening silence pierced your ear drums followed by the single beep sound that was continuous without a pause. The sound soon became a mere ring in your ears.
You slowly brought your line of sight towards the heart rate monitor beside your mother’s bed and that’s when you saw it. The painful straight line with no spikes going up or down.
That’s when you knew, she was gone.
No. This can’t be real. This is just a dream. Wake up Y/N. Pinch yourself. Slap yourself. Do whatever it is to wake yourself up from this nightmare!
And yet, you’re still there in your dad’s arms listening to the nurse who wrote down the words you never hoped to hear.
“Patient is Jeong Hyemin. Time of death, 2143hrs.”
All the more you cried harder against your father’s chest. You were broken. Completely and utterly broken. Your mother left you before you could even say goodbye. She left before you could even tell her that you love her unconditionally even though you told her that everyday.
As much as your heart hurts, you knew you had to accept it. You knew you had to be strong for your mother. And that was exactly what you did.
The next whole week, you didn’t come to school. You emailed your lecturers personally and told them about your loss. They all sent you their well wishes for you and your dad, to which they excused you from school to attend your mother’s funeral. It broke you but you couldn’t collapse just then.
Your mother would want you to be happy, to continue living a wonderful life, with or without her. And that’s exactly what you were gonna do.
Tumblr media
The next two weeks came as a blur and you were dreading for the day to finally arrive. You couldn’t bring yourself to look in the mirror and see what you looked like. Because at that very moment, you were in an item of clothing where you never thought you would wear anytime soon.
It was a wedding dress. Your wedding dress. It has finally come to this.
Your makeup stylist did a few touch ups to your eyeshadow whilst another lady adjusted the bow on your waist that separates your laced top with your beautiful silk gown that drops to the floor elegantly behind you.
If you were being honest, you had hoped for this very day to come when you would walk down the aisle with your arm linked with your dad’s while your mother stood at the front row, watching you proudly. Witnessing you entering a new life with your chosen partner whom you’d love with all your heart.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the case for you and it hurts you. But you kept telling yourself the same thing over and over again.
“I have to stay strong.”
That was the last thing you mumbled to yourself as you left the bride’s room, only to head towards the outdoor wedding ceremony where your parents had already booked an incredibly beautiful mansion located at the highest hills of the city.
It was a small ceremony with only your family and his, and very close relatives of both sides but that was it. None of your friends were there but you already told them about today.
Little did you know, his friends knew about it too.
You were approaching the outdoor garden where everyone was waiting for you when all of a sudden, your emotions started swirling in you.
A tear rolled down your cheek the minute you saw your dad standing at the doorway which leads you directly down the aisle. Your dad gave you a soft smile before cupping your face and kissing your forehead. He wiped the tear away with his thumb as he whispered, “You look so beautiful, sweetheart. I’m sure your mother would be so happy to see you like this.”
With that, you had to force your tears back, swallowing them as you nodded before linking your arm with his.
The song started playing and soon, both of you began to walk down the aisle. The first thing you saw was Sangyeon standing at the foot of the platform. He was wearing a navy blue tuxedo, looking quite handsome if you were being completely honest.
But the frown on his face was evident enough for you to know that he didn’t like this as much as you didn’t like this either.
Once you were standing just two feet away, you turned to your dad who kissed you again on the forehead before putting your hand in Sangyeon’s outstretched ones. After your dad left your side, Sangyeon guided you up the steps carefully.
His touch was soft, almost as if he wasn’t touching you at all. Minutes went by and right after you’ve both said your vows, it was time for the exchange of rings and sealing the deal with a kiss but of course, neither of you agreed to it. So when you were officially announced as husband and wife, you both looked at each other with a familiarity in your eyes which screamed “I hate all of this”.
Sangyeon lets out a soft groan before planting a chaste kiss to your temple, pulling away as soon as he kisses.
Both of you walked back down the aisle and once you were in the mansion, it took you less than a second to walk away from him and make your way straight to the bride’s makeup room.
Sangyeon didn’t bother to call for you as he too made his way to the common room, wanting to be as far away from you as possible. He hated every single minute of this. He never wanted this. But he was being forced to. And he doesn’t even know why.
When he heard from his parents that you accepted the arranged marriage, it baffled him.
You were both so adamant on rejecting this whole fiasco during that night of the dinner so what changed your mind?
That was a question he could never solve.
Tumblr media
Days became weeks and you had moved into the new home that his parents and yours bought for Sangyeon and you to live in. It was a beautiful one story home that had 3 bedrooms, one study room, one living room and a backyard complete with a swimming pool. You were thankful for the home but you didn’t think it was necessary considering the state that you and Sangyeon were being put in.
Nevertheless, you didn’t want to disappoint the elders. Hence the reason why you moved in with Sangyeon without a single argument with your dad and in-laws.
Unfortunately, the fact that you two were now living under the same roof, it was quite expected of you to end up fighting over the smallest little things. If being within radius of each other on campus brought unnecessary snickers and curses to one another, living under the same roof only heightened those said things by 80%.
There wasn’t a day where you could walk around the house peacefully unless the other wasn't home.
It has been 8 weeks since you lived there with him. Despite the constant fights and heated arguments that the two of you often get into, none of it leads to the other doing unfaithful things behind each other’s back.
Before the marriage, it was quite clear that you weren’t in any sort of relationship with anyone nor were you the kind to sleep around with strangers you just met at a club or parties. Whereas, Sangyeon on the other hand was completely that, except he too was single. He tends to sleep around with girls he met at a party or the clubs he went to.
But never did he actually pursue any of his one night stands because he simply didn’t feel that way for them.
However, when he got married to you despite being against it, he made a promise to himself that he should not do all those things to you even if he doesn’t love you. Because he knows that it’s wrong and that he despises people who cheat on their partners.
For that, he told himself not to be that monster.
And he didn’t. Thankfully.
But that doesn’t mean he couldn’t storm out of the house after an argument just to get fresh air and be away from you at that very moment.
This goes both ways as sometimes, you would do the same if you couldn’t stand being in radius of him.
But tonight was different.
You were just washing the dishes when the front door opened to reveal a very drained Sangyeon who had just gotten back from the gym.
He strolled through down the hallway with his duffle bag strap resting on his right shoulder, the wet patches on his grey tank top sticking to his torso, black track shorts resting on his hips. His hair was slicked back from being drenched in sweat.
You spared him a quick glance over your shoulder before you turned back to the dirty dishes. Unfortunately for you, he caught you glancing just in time.
He walked past you to go to the fridge after putting his bag down on the floor, opening it and immediately grabbing the bottle of iced water sitting there patiently for him to take it. He downed half the bottle in less than 5 seconds, only to hear him let out a satisfied sigh right after.
You remained quiet as he looked at you for a moment, a small part of him wanted to ask you if you’ve eaten but a bigger part of him, more so his ego, was telling him to walk away.
For some reason, he decided to go with the former. Something he hasn’t been doing all these years.
“Had your dinner yet?” He asked, making you turn off the tap after setting down the clean dish onto the rack above your head before turning to him with a slight confusion on your face.
“Mhm. You?”
“Not yet.” He said as he leaned his hip against the counter top.
“What do you feel like eating?” You asked, wiping your hands dry with the towel hanging off the hook on the wall.
“I kind of have the feel for kimchi fried rice… I’ll just make do with what is there in the fridge. No worries.” Sangyeon said with a soft smile on his face before he left to take a long shower. Something he always did when he had a lot going on in his mind.
The minute he left, you stared at his descending back for a minute before turning back with a confused frown on your face.
Sangyeon was in the shower for almost 20 minutes. Taking a warm bath to calm his tensed muscles due to the intense workout he did with Juyeon and Hyunjae earlier. After his stress relieving bath, Sangyeon changed into a pair of sweatpants and his oversized shirt he normally uses to sleep.
He towel dried his hair, leaving it in an utter mess on his head with no care whatsoever.
He simply brushed through his wet locks with his fingers haphazardly before leaving his bedroom toilet. Sangyeon and you weren’t sharing bedrooms. It was just a mutual agreement right from the first night together.
You took the master bedroom in this house while he took the second bedroom.
Sangyeon was just walking down the hall, scratching the back of his head randomly when he caught a strong whiff of something delicious filling his nostrils.
“What the?” He whispered to himself as he cautiously made his way closer to the end of the hall. The minute he made a right turn, that’s when he saw you scooping out the contents of the pan into a clean plate. To his surprise, it was the exact dish he told you he was planning to cook earlier.
He finally stepped out of the shadows, only to startle you.
You flinched but that was it.
“Hey… I figured you’d be too tired to cook so I made it for you. Just leave the plate in the sink after you’re done. I’ll wash it later.” You pressed your lips into a small little smile before placing the dish on the kitchen island together with a spoon.
Right when you were about to leave the kitchen, his voice stopped you from walking any further only to hear him whisper a soft “thank you” to you.
You gave him a nod and soon left.
Sangyeon stares at your descending back before you disappear from his trail of sight, only to then tilt his head in amusement at your sudden kind act. For some reason, he found himself smiling as he took a mouthful of your delicious fried rice.
Another 3 weeks went by and you had just gotten back from your night study session with Lisa and Jennie, only to find Sangyeon slumped on the couch. He had his face buried in his hands as he looked like he hadn’t slept for days.
You frowned as you locked the door and soon went over to stand behind the long couch, diagonally from the couch he was sitting at.
“Rough day?” You asked quietly, but all you got was silence so you tried again.
“Have you eaten?”
Silence.
“Do you want anything to eat?”
Silence.
“Sangyeon, even if you hate me, at least say yes or no so I can-” And that’s when he bursts.
“Shut the fuck up!” Sangyeon yelled as he glared at you. His nostrils flared upon every heavy breath he took. You were stunned by his harsh tone, clearly not wanting any argument when you first asked the question.
“Excuse me?” You asked with a tone that was pretty obvious to anyone that you were clearly offended by his words.
“Didn’t you hear me?! I said shut the fuck up!” Sangyeon stood tall, his face red as you could only imagine he was stressed about something. A scoff left your lips, feeling the anger seeping through your skin with every word he said to you.
“Why? Why do you want me to shut the fuck up so badly?!” You asked as you stared at him with mixed emotions.
“God, you’re so fucking annoying!” Sangyeon growled as he began to storm off but you stopped him by grabbing his wrist.
“Answer my fucking question, Lee Sangyeon! I was just being nice and caring about your well being and all I got was to shut up? You’re a fucking asshole you know that?” You said, your words filled with venom as he gritted his teeth, jaw clenching tight.
“Who taught you to be such a brat? Your mother?” Sangyeon accidentally blurted that out of sheer anger. Your grip around his wrist left and the next thing he knew, your eyes were glossy from the tears threatening to fall.
“Don’t bring my mother into this.” You warned but he was still fuming with anger.
“Why? Why can’t I?! She’s the only reason why we’re in this stupid marriage anyway!”
You didn’t know what ran through your mind but the minute those words left his mouth, you couldn’t help but swing your hand onto his cheek. This shocked him to a certain extent as he simply glared at you but never did anything to hurt you physically.
“Do you know why I accepted the marriage proposal? Do you wanna know why I decided to walk down that fucking aisle and have myself being called as your official wife?! Well here’s the reason why. I promised my mom I would.” You paused as he remained quiet. You could almost see the cogs turning in his brain as though trying to process your words.
“My mom died wanting me to marry you. She told me she wanted to see me walk down the aisle one day and into your arms. Until now, I don’t understand why she specifically wants it to be you, but that’s what she wanted. So I promised her that she would be there for when that day comes. But she left me before she could even witness that for herself. She left before I could even say goodbye. It broke me. It fucking broke me Sangyeon! That’s why I chose to accept the proposal even when…”
You stopped for a moment, not realizing that you had been crying until you tasted salty tears on your lips.
“...even when I didn’t love you. I did it because I made a promise to her. I don’t want to let her down, Sangyeon.... I never wanted any of this to happen. And I know you feel the same so I’m sorry.” Those were the last things you said to him before going to your bedroom and locking yourself in there.
Sangyeon was left standing there, feeling completely shitty with what he said to you earlier. He never meant to hurt your feelings. He should’ve known better not to mention your mom but he only said that out of pure anger.
He knows it’s his fault but his ego was too high for him to simply give in to his mistake.
He was about to just brush this off when he heard the door click and soon, you were seen leaving your bedroom with a cross body purse on you. You didn’t give him the chance to speak as you just left the house with a soft slam of your front door. He watched as you took your white mini cooper and drove out of the driveway.
Tumblr media
“Sweetie, why don’t you want to accept the proposal?” Your mother asked weakly as you sat on the chair beside her hospital bed.
“Mom, you know I don’t love him. We’ve been fighting since we were kids. I don’t see why I should marry someone who I don’t love.”
“Oh sweetie, you can only learn to love by loving.”
“Mom, that’s just fairy tale talk.”
“Do you wanna know something?” She asked as you stared at her quietly while you caressed the back of her hand with your thumbs as he took this silence to continue.
“Your father and I weren’t on good terms too when we first met each other. We always fought in high school and it went on for quite a while until Mrs Lee set me up on this blind date and it was with your father. At first we found it ridiculous, but after that first date, I realized that maybe your father wasn’t as bad as I thought. And so, we started to slowly understand the process of loving someone and soon enough, we fell in love. Love doesn’t always come to you directly. Sometimes, you need to find it yourself.”
She paused, studying your facial expressions carefully to make sure you weren’t angry or about to burst at her for the next thing she was planning to say.
“Can you promise me something sweetie?”
“Anything… Anything at all mom.” You said with a glint of hope in your eyes.
“Can you promise me that you’ll marry Mrs Lee’s son? I don’t care when. Just… as long as it’s him. Even if I’m not around anymore...”
“Mom-”
“Please? For me?”
Your heart broke hearing her pleading voice. You don’t understand why she was so persistent in you marrying him but for now, you couldn’t bear to say no. You couldn’t bear to break her heart. So, with a heavy heart, you chose your mother’s happiness before yours.
“Okay mom… I promise. But you have to promise me too that you’ll be fine and that you’ll come back to me and dad, okay?”
“I promise, sweetheart. I love you so much.” She said.
“I love you too mom.”

That night when you came back to your old house, your dad greeted you at the door with a shocked look on his face. He asked you why you were there at such a late time so you explained to him that you got into a big fight with Sangyeon and that you wanted to stay there for the next few days. Of course your father was happy that he would finally have someone in the house with him, but he was also worried that Sangyeon would be concerned over you.
You told him not to tell Sangyeon anything and that you wanted time away from him for now, in which your dad just nodded understandingly. The next few days, you spent your days diligently avoiding Sangyeon as much as you can despite being in the same campus. Lucky for you, he had very different schedules than you.
Which means, better chance for you to avoid him and not accidentally bump into him on campus grounds. And so far, your plan is working.
It’s been at least 3 weeks since you last went home to your shared place with him and you were starting to run low on your clothing supply back at your old house. Which means, you probably had no choice but to go back there now.
In all honesty, you weren’t mad at him anymore.
You were just too stubborn to face him after that argument. But it looks like you have no other choice now.
Hence, the reason why you were currently standing outside your doorstep at 8pm, noticing the vehicles parked outside your gates. By the looks of it, those probably belonged to his friends. And you were right. Because the minute you unlocked the door, you were immediately greeted by the chattering and laughter coming from the living room.
You walked in further, carefully after taking off your shoes and placing them in the shoe rack. Right when you had just made it by the end of the hallway and the living room was in full view, that’s where you saw the 6 figures scattered around the room.
The TV was playing a movie while the coffee table was filled with boxes of pizzas and other snacks for them to munch on.
Before you could speak up, two of them noticed your presence, making the blonde haired one to say hi, “Oh, hi Y/N.”
With that, the rest of them finally turned around upon hearing their friend greet you. Sangyeon, who was standing right in front of the TV, checking the cables, whipped his head around only to lock eyes with you. He froze in his spot, unsure if this was real considering you’ve been avoiding him like a plague the past 3 weeks.
“Y/N…” Was the only thing he managed to whisper under his breath as you awkwardly chuckled, hoping you didn’t create an unsettling atmosphere for them.
“Hey…” You whispered as he carefully made his way to you. The moment he was standing right in front of you, neither of you spoke. Both of you are afraid of saying the wrong thing which could potentially lead to another argument. But Sangyeon was smart enough to know not to make unnecessary comments to you after what happened the last time. So instead, he opted for an apology.
“Listen, about that night… I- I’m really sorry… I didn’t... I didn’t know.”
You could only give him a small smile that he could clearly see was weak and almost drained as you spoke up, “It’s okay. Anyways… I think I’m gonna rest.”
He simply nodded, resisting the urge to pull you into a hug and tell you how sorry he was for treating you like crap all these while. These past 3 weeks have made him realise that he wasn’t the nicest of people to you, that he said a lot of things that had definitely hurt you in the past, that he has been nothing but mean to you.
Upon hearing your bedroom door close, Sangyeon lets out a defeated sigh before walking back to his friends who then asked him if everything was okay. After he told them that everything was indeed okay, he plopped back down on the couch but it seemed to worry his friends seeing how sad Sangyeon looked at the moment.
Whenever he was with them, he has always been the goofy, savage, often picking on the others to get a reaction out of them, kind of guy. They’ve never properly seen this softer side of him.
It’s been nearly an hour since you came home and yet, he hasn’t caught a single glimpse of you anywhere. He got worried for you, not knowing whether you’ve eaten or not. So he decided to check on you. He got up from the ground to excuse himself, telling them to just continue what they were doing.
When he arrived at your supposedly shared bedroom, he found you seated on the window couch just staring into the night sky. However, before he could even knock on the door and push it wider, he heard soft sobs from you that gradually grew louder. He stayed by the door and unintentionally listened to your whispers.
“I miss you mum… I’m sorry if I couldn’t live up to my promise just like you wanted me to. I know I’m not the best wife to him, but I’m trying… I’m trying… for you. I wish you were still here beside me. To guide me on how to be a good wife. To love someone without feeling trapped. To love someone the way you and dad loves me. I’m so sorry mum… I’m so truly sorry…”
Sangyeon’s heart shattered into a million pieces for you. That’s when he realized that his feelings for you had changed. That all he wanted to do right at this very moment was to protect you. You were broken, fragile and yet, he’s been treating you horribly all these while.
He couldn’t take it any longer. With that being said, he carefully and quietly made his way to you. Not making a sound as you had your head buried in your knees, cries getting louder the closer he came to you. However, when you felt his soft hands caress the sides of your arms, you looked up. Your eyes glistened under the moonlight, your cheeks soaked with your freshly falling tears.
At that moment, you looked so vulnerable.
So when he pulled you into his embrace, you easily let him. Burying your face into his chest as he gently rubs circles onto your back, caressing your head comfortingly.
After a few seconds of silence, you finally whispered against his chest. Just loud enough for him to hear, but soft enough that nobody standing outside the door could hear.
“I miss her Sangyeon…”
Sangyeon wasn’t sure how to respond to your confession but he tried as best as he could to make you feel better.
“And I know that she misses you too. But it’s okay, she will always be with you. You’ll be okay… I promise.” He whispered and almost immediately, you pulled back as he frowned in confusion.
“You shouldn’t promise me anything…” You said, your tears slowly getting lesser and lesser by the minute.
“Why do you say that?”
“Because the last time someone made me a promise, they promised me that they’ll be okay and that they’ll never leave me… And yet she did...” Your voice hushed. He could tell that that was your trauma. Making promises.
He felt a tear threatening to roll down his cheek but he managed to hold back. Sangyeon softly reached up to cup your face and caress your cheeks with both thumbs before he spoke up, “I’m sorry she did. I’m sorry that promise got broken. But it’s not her fault. You know it wasn’t. So let me make a promise to you now and this time, it won’t be broken.”
With that being said, you cried even harder as he just pulled you against his chest almost cradling you like a child. After almost 20 minutes in the room, he finally let go of your fragile figure and asked if you wanted to eat.
You told him you weren’t hungry and that you just wanted to rest. Sangyeon nodded, bringing you to the bed as he carefully tucked you in to make you cosy. He was about to leave you alone when you grabbed his wrists. Sangyeon turned around with such a soft gaze on you, it nearly melted you.
“Where are you going?” You asked with a soft voice, almost shy. Sangyeon found it so endearing that he couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
“I’m gonna go back to the boys and maybe call it a night early.” He smiled, to which you felt his other hand come to wrap its fingers around your extended wrist, gently pulling it away before caressing the back of your wrist with his thumb.
“Can you come back after… please?” You whispered as you saw him smile again before putting your hand down on the mattress softly.
“I will.”
Soon enough, Sangyeon left you in the room to rest for a bit while he went back to his friends and relayed the message to them. Thankfully, the boys were very understanding. They told Sangyeon to send their well wishes to you in which he definitely would. After they left, Sangyeon went ahead and cleared the leftover trash.
Silently thanking the boys for cleaning most of the mess up before he even came back into the living room. He was almost done cleaning, not forgetting to brush his teeth before going back to your room only to find you already asleep with your back facing the door.
Sangyeon couldn’t help but smile as he closed the door behind him and soon made his way quietly to the other side of the room.
He carefully pulled the duvet up, climbing into bed after putting the duvet back down.
He very gently lifted your head up to let his right arm slide under your neck as a pillow, proceeding to pull your body closer against his chest. Once you were both in a comfortable position, he gently wrapped his other hand around your waist. Caressing your side in a comforting manner.
“Goodnight Y/N.” He whispered as he soon drifted off into slumber.

Ever since then, both of you had stopped the constant arguments. You weren’t always annoyed by every little thing the other did. In school, when you’d accidentally bump into one another, either one would smile and acknowledge the other. Some people who witnessed this, found it strange but your close friends didn’t.
It’s been a good 4 months since you’d reconciled with Sangyeon. Though there were disagreements at times, those arguments would however, be resolved as quickly as it came.
But one thing’s for sure, is that during the past 4 months, you and Sangyeon had slowly found yourselves falling for each other. Neither of you said it out loud, but apparently those around you could visibly tell. Especially your friends.
It was a Thursday afternoon, you and the girls were just walking to the lunch hall when Lisa spotted Sangyeon and his friends just walking down the main building. It seems like they were heading towards the lunch hall as well. With that being said, Lisa called out to Sangyeon’s name, causing him and the rest to turn.
The minute Sangyeon’s eyes locked on Lisa’s and then on you, his gaze softened as you saw the corner of his lips curving upwards into a cute smirk.
They stopped walking to let you girls catch up and once you did, Lisa immediately went to Juyeon and began talking to him casually. The other girls went to walk with the rest while you came to a quick stop beside Sangyeon before you continued walking with the others ahead of you.
“How was class?” He asked, his arm accidentally brushing against yours as you walked further down the building.
“Horrible. Can you believe he wants us to submit 10 codes by the end of this week? I swear that man wants me dead.” You groaned in annoyance, only to hear him chuckle. But what he said next, caught you by surprise.
“But I don’t want you dead.”
With that, you turned to him as a small smile appeared on your face despite the frown you had. Both of you walked in silence, just basking in the conversations of your friends when you felt a soft tickling feeling on your fingers.
You glanced down to see that his hand was playfully brushing against your fingers, making you look up to catch him already staring at you.
Sangyeon smiled at you innocently, not sure if he wanted to say anything else until he felt you slide your hand into his, lacing your fingers with his easily. Now it was his turn to look down and then back up at you. All he did was chuckle, a sound you could definitely get used to.
A week passed and it was finally the weekend. You and Sangyeon didn’t have anything planned for the day.
Or at least you thought.
You were just lounging on the couch on a beautiful Saturday evening when Sangyeon came over to plop down beside you with a cheeky smile on his face.
“You’re oddly happy? What’s going on?” You asked with a raise of your eyebrow.
“I have a surprise for you but you have to go get ready okay?”
“Get ready? It’s already 7 o’clock. Where can we go?” You asked but all you got was a soft whine from him telling you to just do it. You opted to listen as he reminded you to wear prettily. You weren’t sure where you were going so you didn’t want to either overdress or underdress.
So you opted for simple denim skinny jeans, a baby blue sleeveless top, a white long knit cardigan and a pair of beige chunky heeled sandals.
When you left your shared bedroom to go to the living room, you were surprised to see him dressed handsomely in his black skinny jeans, a white button down shirt with the first few buttons undone, along with a navy blue bomber jacket. You saw him look at your outfit from head to toe, only for him to smirk playfully at you.
“Damn, who knew my wife could look this beautiful?” Sangyeon teased, making you giggle.
“Sangyeon, I literally wear jeans everyday.”
“Exactly.”
When you realized what he was trying to say, you soon found yourself blushing as you walked over to him and gently slapped his chest with your hand. Urging him to go before you slapped that cute smirk off his face.
Sangyeon couldn’t help but laugh but nonetheless left the house in his matte black Bentley. You watched as he drove down the street, bringing you to a part of the city where you don’t remember going to before in your life. The car ride was filled with jokes and laughter coming from both of you. He distracted you too much to the point where you didn’t even notice you were already at the location he wanted to bring you.
You looked out the window and that’s when you realize, “Is this an outdoor cinema?” You gasped when you saw the open field with a large screen at the centre, along with the endless rows of couples seated on their own blankets with snacks and drinks of their preferences.
“Sangyeon… This is…” You were speechless and he could see.
He chuckled as he just stared at you with such endearment in his eyes. Some people would just call it love.
“It’s wonderful.” You finally got to finish your sentence, turning to him with a smile.
“I’m glad you think so. Now let’s go! The movie’s about to start.”
Two hours had passed and you were now a few minutes in of the second movie. You noticed some couples were starting to get comfortable on their blankets. You were starting to get tired just sitting up straight and Sangyeon noticed your subtle shifts, desperate to find a comfortable sitting position.
“Hey, you okay?” He asked quietly.
“Yeah. I’m okay, just a little tired from sitting up.” You explained with a bashful little smile. Just then, Sangyeon thought of an idea that was completely beyond your imagination.
Hence, when he patted the space in between his legs, you glanced down and then back at him who was seen smiling softly to you. None of it was making you feel creeped out. In fact, you felt safe and that you could trust him. After all, he was your husband anyways. Of course you trust him.
“Come here.” He said as he stared at you calmly. He wasn’t sure if you were entirely up for this but before he could take his words back, that’s when he saw you carefully crawling towards the space he patted earlier.
Once you were seated in front of him, Sangyeon scooted forward a little before he slid his arms around your waist.
He soon pulled you against his chest, before he whispered in your ear, “Comfortable?”
You turned your head to look at him but instead got slightly flustered by the close proximity that led you to feeling his lips accidentally brush against your own. You got quiet for a moment, praying that he didn’t hear the way your heart was pounding against your chest.
You couldn’t trust your voice so you opted for a soft hum to answer his question. The next few minutes, you found yourself getting more and more comfortable in his arms, putting your hands on top of his forearms as you unconsciously caressed his skin in a calming manner. All the while, Sangyeon was behind you, completely distracted from the movie in front of him.
Instead, his mind was fuzzy with how close you were to him at that very moment. This was something he never thought would happen back when he was still young.
But now that he was here with you, just cuddling at an outdoor movie theatre, he couldn’t help but want more of this. Sangyeon found himself smiling as he couldn’t help but give your sides a gentle squeeze, telling you that he was there with you and that he would never leave you.
Thankfully, you got the silent message.
Because right after he did that, you turned your head to look at him. His eyes held the galaxy. You found yourself getting lost in his eyes.
Both of you were silent but it wasn’t awkward. You didn’t know what came over you but a sense of confidence washes over you. With that being said, you carefully leaned forward to close the gap and soon pressed your lips on his.
To say he was taken aback slightly, is definitely an understatement.
But it took him less than 3 seconds to finally move his lips against yours in a smooth rhythm. You brought your right hand up to gently cup his face as you kissed him.
Sangyeon tightens his hold on you, pulling away from the kiss only to look into your eyes with such adoration. He wasn’t sure if now was the right time to express his feelings for you, but he thought, what was there to lose. So with that thinking, Sangyeon took a small breath before he uttered the 3 words he never thought he’d say to you but he did. And every single word he said at that moment, was as sincere as ever.
“I love you.”
You couldn’t help but smile softly at him before you kissed him again in a longing kiss before pulling away and replying to him with the exact emotions you felt for him genuinely.
“I love you too, Sangyeon.”

that’s what friends do
kim hanbin x female! reader
college! au (non idol) || 7.7k
mostly fluff, quite a bit of swearing, some suggestive themes, pretty much just friends to lovers nonsense because I’m a sucker for that
summary: you’re drunk and locked out of your apartment so what do you do? call your best friend hanbin, who you just happen to be in love with, and stay the night at his place, what could go wrong?
“I’m not drunk.”
“You definitely are.”
You roll your eyes. You’re in your best friend’s apartment, with her partner and some of your other friends. It’s a Friday night, and you wanted to celebrate the end of the week. However, your best friend doesn’t drink, so she’s mostly been watching you and laughing at all the dumb things you say.
“Are you ready to go home?” She asks. “I can drive you. I don’t want you wandering around in the dark.”
“Are you trying to get rid of me?”
“You know I’m going home for the weekend, I don’t want to get there in the middle of the night.” You can’t argue with that. You know she’s been missing her family recently, and you don’t want to take away from her time with them.
“Okay,” you grab your bag, pulling out your phone. “Let’s go.” She smiles and goes to get her stuff.
When she’s ready, she leads you out to her car. You sit in the back, since her S.O. always gets to ride shotgun. Your single ass can’t relate.
It’s a short drive, so you just hang out in the back while the two of them talk. You’re thinking about what to do when you get home. You texted Hanbin earlier, asking if you two could study tomorrow. He hasn’t replied yet, so maybe you’ll bother him. You hate being drunk and alone. When your friend pulls into your driveway, you reach into your bag for your keys.
“It was lovely seeing you again, y/n.”
“Yeah, you too,” you reply. You can’t feel them anywhere. You turn on your phone flashlight to get a better look.
“What’s wrong?” Your friend asks. You shake your head.
“I can’t find my keys.”
“You’re joking,” she says.
“I wish I was.” She reaches out her hand so you give her your bag. She pokes around in there for a little while before coming to the same conclusion.
“You’re so dumb.” She’s not wrong. “Call your roommate, she’ll let you in.”
“She’s at her boyfriend’s tonight...” You’re getting anxious now. You don’t know what to do.
“Oh my god,” your friend hits the steering wheel. “What do we do with you?”
“Can’t she stay with your roommates?” Her partner asks. The two of you shake your heads.
“I don’t trust them to take care of her,” your friend says. “They’re good people, but y/n can be way too flirty when she’s drunk. I don’t want her sleeping with one of them.” That’s a valid point.
“I don’t have any other friends-” you start to say when it hits you. “HANBIN.”
“Who?” Your friend asks.
“You know him!” You unlock your phone so you can call him.
“Is that the guy you’re always studying with?”
“Yes!” You scroll to Hanbin’s contact icon and click it. “I’ve slept at his place before, he won’t mind.”
“Is this a good idea?” Your friend asks. “Having you sleep at a boy’s house while drunk?” You don’t answer her because Hanbin picks up right at that moment.
“y/n,” he says. “What’s up?”
“Okay, this is going to sound weird,” you reply. Your friend laughs. “I’m a little drunk and I got locked out of my apartment and I need somewhere to stay so could I maybe sleep at yours?” You’re slurring your words a little bit, but you’re hoping he won’t notice.
“Of course,” he says right away. You hear a door open. “Where are you? I’ll pick you up.”
“No, it’s okay,” you tell him. “I’m with my friend, she can drop me off.”
“Can I talk to him?” Your friend says from the front seat.
“Hold on, she wants to talk to you,” you say to Hanbin. “She needs to make sure you aren’t gonna murder me.” You can hear him nervously laughing as you give your friend the phone.
You look out the window while she asks him a gazillion and one questions. She sounds concerned when she finds out he has 2 other roommates, both guys. You’re good friends with them too, thankfully. You can’t hear Hanbin, but whatever he says must be convincing. He’s the best person you know. But then again you’re drunk, and maybe a little in love with him.
“And you’ll take her home tomorrow morning?” She asks. You turn your head and try to focus on their conversation.
“He’s not my father,” you say from the backseat. You’re tempted to make a joke about him being your daddy but you hold it in.
“Make sure she calls me tomorrow as well, so I know she’s alive.”
“For god’s sake,” you mutter to yourself.
You’ve known him since you started university, but your friend has only met him once or twice. You and Hanbin are in the same program and the same year, so you have tons of classes together. In first year, you were thrown together for a group project. While working on that, the two of you quickly became friends. You started studying for all your joint classes together, alternating hanging out at each other’s apartments. Your study sessions usually turn into the two of you watching TV or ordering take out and just talking for hours on end. Sometimes Hanbin will share lyrics or songs with you and ask for your opinion. There have been a few times where you’ve been so deep in discussion, you don’t even realize it’s midnight. On those days, you crash at his place.
Your roommate is convinced the two of you are dating, but you constantly reassure her you’re not. Every time he comes over, you lock yourselves in your room, so she probably assumes you’re making out. You wish you were, but you’re happy being his best friend too.
“If y/n gets hurt, I’m going to murder you, I hope you know that.” There goes any chance you had with him anyway. “Okay, I’ll give the phone back to her.”
You grab it right away. “I’m sorry, I know she can be scary.” You say. Hanbin just laughs.
“She cares about you, it’s a good thing.”
“So I’ll see you in like 5 minutes then?” You ask.
“Yeah, are you hungry? Yunhyeong made some food earlier, I think there’s some left.” You smile at that, he’s so sweet. Total boyfriend material.
“That sounds lovely.” You glance at your friend, who’s turning the engine on again. “I’ll be there soon.”
“Okay, bye.”
“Love you,” you reply. “Bye.”
After you hang up, your friend just stares at you in the rearview mirror. “Did you just say love you?”
“Yes,” you say awkwardly. “That’s what friends do.”
“You never tell me you love me.” She puts the car into reverse and pulls out of your driveway.
“I love you.”
“It doesn’t have the same effect now,” she says. “Are you sure he’s not your boyfriend?”
“He’s not.”
“Friends with benefits?” Her partner asks.
“No!”
“He’s cute though,” your friend points out. “Definitely your type.”
“Yeah, I know.” You stare out the window again.
“Wait, do you have a crush on him?” She glances at you in the rearview again.
“I think it’s a little more than a crush,” you say, avoiding eye contact. “I might be in love with him, it’s fine though.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“He’s not interested.”
“How do you know that?” She says right away. “He’s going to take care of you right now, while you’re drunk, what boy would do that if he didn’t have feelings for you?”
“A nice one?”
“Shut up,” she replies, turning right onto his street. “You’re drunk, you’re flirty, go get your man.”
“Should we give her some condoms or something?” You and your friend both laugh at that.
“No sex,” she says. “Not while you’re drunk.”
“Hanbin would never,” you reassure her. “He always asks before touching me.”
“He touches you?” She pulls onto his driveway.
“In a platonic way!” You’re blushing now. You’ve been crushing on him for ages, but talking about it out loud makes it so much more real. You’re almost scared to see Hanbin now. You’ll wind up saying something dumb and ruining your friendship.
“We’re here, so you can go touch him all you want.”
“Stop it!” You take your seatbelt off and open the door. “I hate you.”
“Do you want us to take you inside?”
“I’m sure I can make it to the front door,” you say. “I’m not that drunk.”
“If you say so,” your friend replies. “I’m gonna stay here and watch you go in.” Your roll your eyes, but you’re grateful for her. “Text me when you wake up tomorrow. I told Hanbin too, so you better not forget.”
“I won’t.” You grab your bag. “Thanks.” She smiles.
“You’re welcome,” you close the door, but she rolls down her window. “I love you.”
“Oh my god,” you groan and run towards the house. You’re dying to get away from her so she’ll stop clowning you.
When you get to the front door, it opens right away. Yunhyeong is there, smiling. He must’ve been expecting you.
“Hey,” he says. He notices your friend’s car in the driveway and waves. She waves back before reversing out and leaving.
“Thank god,” you mutter, kicking your shoes off. You almost lose your balance, but he grabs your arm to steady you.
“Hanbin said you’re staying over tonight.”
“Yeah, and I’m drunk,” you tell him. He’s about to say something else but Hanbin comes walking down the hallway. You immediately run over and wrap your arms around his neck.
He’s caught off guard, but he hugs you back. “Hi.” His arms are tight around you.
“I missed you,” you say, before burying your face in his neck. “So much.”
“Are you okay?” He asks, smiling. You nod and look up at him. You’re glad he’s amused.
“You smell really good.”
“You smell like vodka.” That makes you laugh. “You said you’re hungry, right?” You nod.
He untangles himself from you and walks towards the kitchen. You grab his hand without second thought. Since the two of you are usually pretty affectionate, he doesn’t think anything of it. You’re extremely grateful for that right now. You don’t want to act suspicious.
Yunhyeong joins you at the kitchen table while you have some left over french fries from their dinner. Hanbin makes sure you drink some water too, even though you tell him you’re not thirsty. You ask where Chanwoo is. When they say he’s locked in his room gaming, you’re not surprised. You make a mental note to say hi to him in the morning.
They ask about your night, and you explain how you forgot your keys and have nowhere else to stay. When they ask how much you had to drink, you genuinely can’t remember.
“You better go to sleep soon,” Hanbin says. “I don’t want you to be hungover tomorrow.”
“I don’t get hungover,” you tell him, yawning. “I’m not old.” He rolls his eyes at that.
“You can sleep in Hanbin’s room,” Yunhyeong says. “He can sleep on my floor.”
“Why can’t he sleep with me?” You two have never slept in the same bed before, but you don’t see why it would be a problem. Falling asleep in his arms would be amazing, especially since he smells so damn good. And waking up next to him in the morning? That thought alone makes you blush.
“y/n,” Hanbin says, smiling. “What did you just say?”
“I said you should sleep with me.” The two of them burst out laughing as you suddenly realize why. “Wait no, that’s not what I meant.”
“Are you sure?” Hanbin asks, making eye contact with you. You know he’s joking but it makes you flustered.
“Yes,” you mutter under your breath. You’d be lying if you said you hadn’t thought about Hanbin like that. You know he’s got some tattoos hiding under there somewhere. You’ve definitely thought about them before, particularly while imagining yourself underneath him.
“Are you finished?” Yunhyeong breaks your thoughts, pointing to your plate. You nod and he picks it up, heading to the sink.
“Thank you,” you call out after him. You might be drunk, but you’re never impolite.
Hanbin stands up and holds out his hand. “Let’s get you into bed.”
“I bet you’d like to,” you say, trying to give him a seductive look. That’s probably not even grammatically correct, but he laughs and pulls you towards his room.
“You’re ridiculous.” You sit down on his bed as he cleans up his nightstand for you. You glance at your phone quickly, no messages.
“Go take off your makeup,” Hanbin says to you, “you don’t want to look like a raccoon in the morning.”
“Raccoons are cute though,” you point out.
“That’s true.” He heads over to his closet. “But you’ll complain if I don’t make you do it now.”
“Fine,” you groan, getting up and heading to his en-suite.
You grab the micellar water and cotton pads from under the sink and use them to wipe your eye makeup off. The last time you slept over, he gave you your own toothbrush, so you grab that off the bathroom counter and brush your teeth. When you’re done, you walk back into the room, pulling the scrunchie out of your hair.
“Do you want a sweater or a t-shirt?” Hanbin asks, holding out both to you.
“T-shirt, I guess,” you reply, pulling off your own and throwing it on the floor without second thought.
“Whoa.” He rushes to cover his eyes, which makes you smile.
“You’re allowed to look,” you tell him, grabbing the shirt. “I was hoping you would see me shirtless in a totally different context, but this works too.”
“What?” He’s smirking.
“Nothing,” you say. “I probably won’t even remember this in the morning.” Hanbin doesn’t say anything to that.
“Are you still half naked?” He asks a minute or two later, with his eyes still closed. The t-shirt he gave you is a free one from one of your university’s events. He got the biggest size, which you’re grateful for right now. You decide to take your jeans off so you’ll be more comfortable while you sleep.
“Hold on.” You take them off and attempt to fold them, but in your drunken state, it’s kind of difficult. “Okay,” you say, placing them on his desk.
When he opens his eyes, he glances you up and down. You act like you don’t notice, but you’re pretty sure his gaze lingers on your legs for a moment. You haven’t shaved in a couple days, maybe he’s frightened. He clears his throat, snapping you out of your thoughts.
“I’m gonna get you a glass of water,” he says awkwardly, turning around and walking out of the room. You don’t know what to make of that.
While he’s gone, you crawl into bed and grab Hanbin’s phone charger. He’ll have to steal someone else’s if he needs it. He comes back, placing the water and a bottle of Advil on his nightstand for you.
“Do you need anything else?” He asks. You shake your head. “I’m gonna put the garbage bin closer just in case you do feel sick.” He grabs it from under his desk and puts it next to you.
“Thank you,” you say. “Seriously.”
“That’s what friends do.” He smiles at you and you groan.
“I don’t wanna be your friend,” you tell him, yawning. You knew you were tired, but you feel like you’re going to fall asleep any second, now that you’re lying down and comfortable.
“What do you want to be then?” He asks, heading over to his dresser.
“Your girlfriend.” He freezes for a second. “I’m sure you’ve thought about it too.”
“Maybe,” is all he says in return. He grabs the rest of his stuff as your eyes slowly close. “I’ll see you in the morning y/n, sleep tight.”
“Goodnight,” you mumble, rolling over.
You fall asleep soon after that, dreaming of god knows what. But you wake up when you hear a shuffling noise. You sit up and open your eyes. It seems like there’s a figure wandering around in the dark.
“Hanbin,” you say. “What the fuck are you doing?”
“Sorry, I thought you were asleep.” You turn his nightstand lamp on and both of you flinch at the sudden brightness. “Are you okay?”
You nod. “Come here,” you tell him.
“Are you sick?” He’s holding his toothbrush and a notebook. He was probably coming to grab some stuff before heading to Yunhyeong’s room.
“No,” you reply, you’re still half asleep and you’re sure he can tell. “I just want you to come sit for a second.” He puts his things down, so you scoot over a little bit so there’s room for him.
“Do you need something?” You shake your head. “Why are you up then?”
“You woke me up, dumbass.” He blushes at that.
“I’m sorry.” You smile and take his hand.
“It’s okay.” He interlocks his fingers with yours. “Stay with me till I fall asleep again and I’ll accept your apology.”
“Fine.” He glances at the time on your phone. “That might take forever though.”
“Nope,” you tell him. “I have a trick.”
“A trick?”
“Yeah,” you say. “When I’m at home and I can’t sleep, there’s one thing I always think of and then I fall asleep no problem.”
“What is it?”
“You.”
“What?” He looks confused and it’s the cutest thing you’ve ever seen.
“Remember when I said you should sleep with me?”
“How could I forget?” You laugh, and he does too.
“You should.” His eyes go wide. “Not like that, but also like that, I guess...” You lose your train of thought for a second because you’re thinking about him shirtless.
“y/n?” You glance at him.
“Sorry,” you smile. “When I can’t sleep, I think of you, and falling asleep with your arms around me, and it helps.”
“That’s the most adorable thing I’ve ever heard.” He takes your other hand in his.
“But,” you say. “When that doesn’t work, I just think about kissing you.”
“You do?” He asks. He sounds genuinely curious. Surely he’s thought about kissing you too. Otherwise you’re just making a fool of yourself right now. Although it doesn’t really matter, since you won’t remember any of it tomorrow morning.
“I think about kissing you a lot,” you admit.
“Oh really?” You brain suddenly realizes there’s not that much space between the two of you, and it would be really easy to just do it now but you hold back.
“You should kiss me,” you tell him. “To help me sleep, I mean.”
“Drunk you is so entertaining.” He reaches up to brush some hair out of your face, which makes your heart beat a little faster.
“You’re not saying no,” you point out. He moves his hand down, pulling you in by the neck.
“I’m not.”
You blink. He’s looking at you like he does actually want to kiss you, but you might just be imagining it because you’re drunk. But you also really want to kiss him and now seems like a really good opportunity if you would just-
Your thoughts get cut off because suddenly Hanbin’s lips are on yours. He gives you a quick kiss, but you shake your head, wrapping your arms around his neck.
“What?”
“Kiss me properly.”
“You’re ridiculous y/n,” he laughs.
You quickly shut him up by placing your lips on his again. He kisses you deeper this time, taking your comment to heart. You get lost in the kiss, leaning back onto the bed and pulling him down with you. You expect him to stop before this gets out of hand, but he doesn’t. There’s a small part of you that’s scared of what this means for your friendship, but god, it feels so good to finally kiss him that you don’t even care.
When he pulls away, it takes you a few seconds to open your eyes. Looking up at him feels so surreal. You think you might be dreaming. You run your fingers through his hair and it’s as soft as you remember. Maybe not.
“Better now?” Hanbin asks quietly, never taking his eyes off your lips.
“Yeah,” you whisper. He glances into your eyes for a second, before leaning down for another kiss. This one’s softer, more gentle.
“Good,” he says, sitting up. You miss him as soon as he moves away. “Go to sleep.”
“I’ll try, but no promises.” He smirks at that.
“Sorry.” You shake your head.
“Don’t be.”
He smiles and kisses your cheek. “Goodnight y/n.”
“Goodnight,” you say back, closing your eyes and drifting off to sleep again.
The next morning when you wake up, you feel much better. You must’ve slept pretty well. When you grab your phone off the nightstand you almost knock over the glass of water Hanbin left there for you.
Right, Hanbin.
The last thing you remember is him leaving the garbage bin by your bed and saying goodnight. You vaguely remember making some suggestive jokes, but nothing too terrible. You didn’t totally ruin your friendship, as far as you know.
When you check your phone, you see a text from your best friend. Instead of replying, you call her. She’s glad you’re still alive. She asks about Hanbin and whether anything happened overnight. She sounds kind of disappointed when you tell her you just ate and went to sleep. She’s got plans for the day so you can’t talk for long, but she promises to text you later.
You stay in bed for a little while longer, scrolling through your socials. Hanbin knocks on the door about half an hour later. He asks how you’re feeling and tells you to take whatever you want from his closet. You decide to take a shower so he grabs you a towel. He tells you to come join them when you’re done.
Once you’re finished, you quickly pack up your things. Then, you grab your phone and head towards the kitchen. You’re walking down the hall, when you hear Chanwoo say your name.
“I’m so sad I didn’t get to see drunk y/n, she sounds like a lot of fun.”
“She’s very entertaining.” That’s Hanbin’s voice.
“She was flirting with you too,” Yunhyeong says. You creep a little bit closer, staying close to the wall, so they don’t notice you eavesdropping.
“Maybe.” Hanbin pauses for a second. “She said something in my room later on.”
“She was in your room?” Chanwoo asks.
“What did she say?” Yunhyeong asks, ignoring him.
“After r I got her some water and Advil, she said thanks and I was like ‘that’s what friends do,’” you hear someone groan at that. Probably Chanwoo. “She said she doesn’t want to be my friend.”
Your heart starts to beat a little bit faster. You’re praying you didn’t say anything too dumb. And if you did, you hope Hanbin will just write it off as you being drunk.
“She said she wants to be my girlfriend.” You cringe. It’s not terrible, but you’re still embarrassed.
“I knew it,” Yunhyeong says. “You’re soulmates.”
“Shut up,” Hanbin replies. “She was drunk, she probably didn’t even mean it.”
“I think she did.”
“We’ve seen the way y/n looks at you.” You cringe at that too. Have you really been that obvious?
“That’s not it though,” Hanbin says. You wish he would just shut up. You don’t want to know what other dumb shit you said. “I kissed her.”
“You what?” Yunhyeong says exactly what you’re thinking. You and Hanbin finally kissed and you don’t even remember it? You’re never drinking again.
“It wasn’t planned,” Hanbin sounds worried now. “I didn’t mean to, she was just talking about how much she likes me and I couldn’t help myself, and now I’ve ruined our friendship.”
“What did she say about liking you?”
“She said that when she can’t sleep, she thinks about falling asleep in my arms, and if that doesn’t work, she thinks about kissing me.” You roll your eyes. All of that is true, but you don’t know why your drunk self felt the need to share it with him.
“She’s practically in love with you,” Chanwoo says. He’s not wrong. You are in love with Hanbin, maybe he’ll finally realize now.
“What are you going to do?” Yunhyeong asks.
“I don’t know.” Hanbin sighs. “She doesn’t even remember it happened, when I said hi to her this morning, she acted like everything was normal.” You don’t know if you’re grateful for that. Maybe if you did remember, you could actually address it and somehow get him to date you already.
“Maybe that’s what she wants,” Chanwoo says.
“But is it what you want?” Yunhyeong asks.
There’s a moment of silence before Hanbin responds.
“No.”
“I knew it.” Chanwoo sounds so smug.
“What do I do?”
“How do you feel about y/n?” Yunhyeong asks. This is what you’ve been waiting for. You take a small step closer to the kitchen.
“What kind of question is that?” Hanbin responds. “When she said she wanted to fall asleep with me, I really wanted to get into bed next to her.” That makes you blush.
“Simp.”
“She’s adorable to begin with, but she’s like a thousand times cuter when she’s half asleep,” he says. You smile to yourself.
“Tell us more,” Yunhyeong says.
“Does he have to?” Chanwoo groans.
“I mean, y/n’s my best friend. She makes me laugh, she makes studying for the worst courses bearable somehow, I love spending time with her, I love it when she falls asleep with her head on my shoulder and I hate it when she cries,” he says. You’re shocked at how quickly he answers. “But I also love it when I can make her stop crying. I don’t know, I just really like her and I have no idea what to do about it.”
“You’re in love with her, we been knew.” Chanwoo sounds 100% sure. He’s not wrong, that is what it sounds like. “And we all know your lyrics are about her too.”
“What?”
“It does sound like you love her,” Yunhyeong says.
“Shit,” Hanbin mutters under his breath. Your heart’s racing, waiting to hear what he says next. “Yeah, I think I do.”
You lose your focus, ignoring whatever Yunhyeong and Chanwoo say next because you can’t believe it. Your best friend, the boy you love with all your heart, loves you too. You don’t know what to do next, but that’s a pretty good start.
“I should go see if she’s done,” you hear someone say, which snaps you back to reality.
You rush back to Hanbin’s room and sit down at his desk, trying to act casual. There’s a bunch of notebooks piled against the wall, so you grab one, pretending to read it. Until something catches your eye.
If feelings could be controlled, I would’ve thrown mine away a long time ago. I’m talking bout you and me, when I try to take a step forward, you take his hand and become distant.
You’ve seen some of Hanbin’s lyrics before, but only the ones he’s shared with you. It feels like an invasion of his privacy, but you can’t help but wonder if these are about you, especially after what Chanwoo said in the kitchen.
I’ve got feelings for you and you’re embarrassing me. Why are you so pretty if you’re not mine?
Your eyes jump to the top of the page, looking for a date. He wrote this a year and a half ago. You try to go back in your memory to figure out what was happening around that time, when it hits you.
You dated this guy in your English class that October. You remember he came up to you after one of your lectures and asked if you and Hanbin were dating, since you always seemed to be together. You laughed and rolled your eyes. He said he was glad he had the chance to finally talk to you, since that was one of the few classes you had without Hanbin. He asked if he could take you out for dinner that weekend and you said yes. When you told Hanbin, he didn’t seem disappointed, but he must have been if he wrote this. Your ex wound up leaving you after three months. He didn’t explicitly say it, but you suspect he was jealous because you spent more time with Hanbin than him. It was true, but that didn’t make it hurt any less.
You never mentioned anything about your breakup to Hanbin, but he knows you too well. You wound up telling him about it when you were up late one night talking. He held you while you cried, but he never said a bad word about your ex. Later on, you realized you were crying more about how you’d never have Hanbin than the actual breakup.
While thinking about that, you realize Hanbin hasn’t dated anyone in the time you’ve been friends. You know he has tons of other friends, and you know some of them also have crushes on him, but he never seemed interested. Now you know why.
Yunhyeong appears in the doorway at that exact moment, smiling at you. You put the notebook down, trying to act natural.
“Hey,” he says. “Have a nice shower?”
“Yeah, it was great,” you reply, awkwardly.
“You called your roommate, right?” You nod. “Are you going to head home soon?”
“You trying to get rid of me?” You ask, jokingly. Yunhyeong immediately shakes his head.
“Hanbin said you have some midterms and papers due this week that you seemed pretty stressed about. We just assumed you’d want to head home and work on those.”
“That’s kind of both of you,” you say. “Perhaps you have a point.”
“Do you want me to walk you home?”
“Where’s Hanbin?” You’re scared to see him, but you’re also excited. You’re curious as to how he’s going to act around you now. You didn’t really have a proper conversation earlier.
“I’m right here,” he suddenly appears next to Yunhyeong in the doorframe. You can’t stop yourself from smiling when you see him. He smiles back, which makes you a little flustered. “Have a nice shower?”
You roll your eyes. “I smell like you now.” Hanbin raises his eyebrows at that, and Yunhyeong smirks.
“I’m gonna go find Chanwoo,” he says. “I’ll leave you two alone.”
“Are you gonna stay for a little while?” Hanbin asks. You can’t tell if he wants you to, so you shake your head.
“I should probably work on my philosophy paper.”
“I should do that too.” You want to stay, and work on it together, but he doesn’t suggest it. You’re too scared to.
“Text me when you’re done,” you say. “You can send it to me and I’ll edit it for you.” He smiles at that.
“Thank you in advance.” You smile back. “I can drive you home as a token of my gratitude.”
“Can we walk?” It’s only 5 minutes, surely the two of you can act normal for that long.
“Sure,” he replies. “Have you got all your stuff?” You nod, grabbing your bag from the bed. Yunhyeong offered you one of his tote bags to put last night’s clothes in, so you pick that up as well.
You follow Hanbin into the kitchen, where Yunhyeong and Chanwoo are still eating their breakfast. You say bye to both of them, and promise to see them again soon. Chanwoo laughs at that. Normally you wouldn’t think anything of it, but now it makes you feel slightly anxious. You ignore that feeling and go to put on your shoes.
Once you’re outside, you feel so much better. Hanbin must notice, cause he’s looking at you with a weird expression on his face.
“What?”
“Nothing,” he says, walking down his driveway to the sidewalk. “They say fresh air is good for hangovers.”
The second you get over to him, you give him a smack. “I’m not hungover.”
“Sure you aren’t.” He gestures to the tote bag in your hand. “I can take that.”
“Thanks,” you hand it to him. “And thanks for putting up with drunk me.”
“It’s fine,” is all he says.
“Sorry if I said anything dumb.”
“You’re always saying dumb things, y/n, last night was no different.” You roll your eyes at that.
“I didn’t do anything stupid, did I?” You ask quietly. It’s the perfect opportunity to bring up the kiss.
“Of course not,” he says quickly, smiling at you. “You were actually kind of boring.”
“Shut up,” you mutter. He bumps his shoulder against yours as you turn off his street. While you walk, you send your roommate a text to let her know you’re on your way home. She says she’ll leave the door unlocked.
You and Hanbin talk about your midterms for the rest of the way. You’re slightly disappointed he doesn’t mention anything about last night, but you understand if he doesn’t want to ruin your friendship. You don’t want to bring it up because you don’t want to admit you were eavesdropping.
When you get to your front door, he makes sure you get in safely before saying bye.
“Thanks again,” you say, as the two of you stand in your doorway awkwardly.
“That’s what friends do.” You groan at that, which makes Hanbin blush. You must’ve had the same reaction last night when you said you wanted to be his girlfriend. You wish you could remember.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, right?” He nods.
“Of course.”
You give him a quick hug and say thanks again before he leaves. Once you close the front door, your roommate pops out from her room.
“So?” She asks, running over to you.
“What?” You put your things down in the hallway and follow her into the living room.
“Something’s up,” she glances you up and down as you sit down in the armchair. “You spent the night at his place, you’re wearing his clothes, your hair is wet - that only means one thing.”
“It’s not what you think,” you tell her, pulling Hanbin’s sweater tighter around you. It smells so freaking good, you’re never giving it back. Even though you have like 5 other hoodies from him.
“What is it then?” She raises an eyebrow.
“How much time do you have?”
“More than enough,” she smiles. “Let me put the kettle on.”
============
Things with Hanbin stay the same during the week. You edit each other’s essays and study for your midterms over FaceTime. He invites you over on Friday night to celebrate being halfway done with the semester. Apparently Chanwoo lost some bet between the three of them and he’s buying dinner. How could you say no?
The day of, you’re about to leave when your roommate catches you in the kitchen.
“Please tell me you’re not wearing that.” You glance down. You’re wearing one of Hanbin’s t-shirts and a pair of sweats.
“What’s wrong with this?” You ask. “We’re not going clubbing.”
“Yeah, but you want him to sleep with you, don’t you?” That makes you blush. “You should at least wear some makeup.”
She grabs your hand and pulls you into your room. While she goes through your closet, you shoot Hanbin a quick text saying you’re running late. This better be worth it.
In the end, your roommate lets you keep his shirt on. She says it makes you look more “fuckable,” whatever that means. You wind up changing into jeans and throwing a plaid shirt on top (which is also Hanbin’s, but you don’t tell her that). She brushes some brown eyeshadow on for you and picks out a nice shade of lipstick, which also happens to be smudge proof (“since you’ll be making out”). After you swipe it on, she finally lets you put your shoes on to leave. You’re unlocking the front door when she stops you again.
“What now?” She drops a couple of condoms into your hand. “Oh my god.”
“You and Hanbin would have adorable babies, but I don’t think now is the right time for either of you-”
“Why does everyone think I need condoms?” You say, mostly to yourself. You stuff them into your bag anyway.
“I just want you to be prepared.”
“I appreciate that.” She smiles and opens the door for you.
“You have your keys, right?” You roll your eyes but hold them up. “Good, now go get laid!”
You feel bad about running late, so you speedwalk to Hanbin’s. You get there in less than 3 minutes, which you’re quite proud of. When he opens the door, he smiles at you.
“Is that my shirt?” You blush.
“Yes.” You push past him so you don’t have to look at him any longer. It wasn’t so bad in class, because the two of you had something else to focus on. But now that you’re back in his house, you’re feeling anxious again. He still thinks you don’t know about the kiss.
“y/n!” Chanwoo appears in the hallway. “Pizza got here like 10 minutes ago, come have it while it’s hot.”
You follow him into the kitchen, where he grabs you a plate. While he does that, you open the fridge to grab a drink. The second you pick up a can, Hanbin magically shows up and takes it from you.
“I don’t think so.”
“Don’t tell me what to do.” You go to take it back, but he holds it above his head so you can’t reach.
“Kim Hanbin,” you say, trying to use your serious voice. “Give me back my drink or else I’ll never proofread your essays again.”
“I can easily find someone else to do that.” He keeps the can raised. You rolls your eyes but reach for it anyway. That makes Hanbin laugh as he tries to keep it away from you.
“Can you two stop flirting?” You almost forgot Chanwoo was there. Whoops. You glance at Hanbin and he seems as caught off guard as you, which makes you feel better. You snatch the drink out of his hand while he’s distracted.
The three of you sit down and eat, talking about your classes and your plans for the weekend. Yunhyeong shows up about 15 minutes later. He walks through the door holding way too many grocery bags, so you immediately run over to help.
“Thanks, y/n,” he says, handing you some of them. “I’m glad someone cares about me.”
“Of course I do, you tell him. Hanbin comes over to help you put them away while Yunhyeong has some pizza.
When you’re done, you jump onto the counter. Hanbin gets a glass of water and sits next to you.
“Have this.” He holds it out.
“Excuse me?”
“It’s important to stay hydrated while you’re drinking.”
“Shut up,” you tell him. “I’ll be fine.”
“Fine as you won’t remember anything?” You freeze. It’s about time he said something, you just didn’t expect it to be like this.
“Is that really such a bad thing?” You tease, but he doesn’t smile.
“Yeah y/n,” he says, running a hand through his hair.
“Fine,” you take the water from him and have a sip. “I don’t want to forget anything that happens today.”
“Good,” he says.
“You better make it memorable then.”
“Oh, I will.” You don’t know what to make of that.
“What did I tell you about flirting?” Chanwoo says suddenly, getting your attention. You roll your eyes, but Yunhyeong changes the subject.
“Who was that girl I dated in first year? I can’t remember her name.”
“Alex?” He shakes his head. “I have no idea then, sorry.”
Yunhyeong runs through some other names, none of which you recognize. To be fair, you only became friends with Yunhyeong and Chanwoo last year. Sure, you spent time in their apartment, but they mostly left you and Hanbin alone to do whatever.
“Wait!” You say suddenly, remembering a story Hanbin told you a while back. Everyone stops and looks at you. “Is she the one who said you were a bad kisser?”
“Yeah,” Yunhyeong replies. “That’s the worst insult I’ve ever gotten.”
“Can’t relate.” Chanwoo looks smug.
“Have you even kissed anyone?” You ask him. “You’re like 12.” That makes Hanbin laugh.
“Shut up,” He says. “I’m only 2 years younger than you.”
“Hanbin’s probably the best kisser out of all of us then,” Yunhyeong points out. You bump your shoulder against Hanbin’s and he smiles.
“Says who?” Chanwoo asks. “We should run a survey.” You roll your eyes.
“What are you going to do?” You reply. “Make out with every girl on campus and ask who they liked best?”
“Well you and Hanbin have already kissed so-” Yunhyeong doesn’t finish his sentence. All of you are staring at him.
“I’m sorry, what?” You ask. You could just tell them you already know, but you decide not to. You want to see how this plays out.
“When you were drunk,” Hanbin jumps in, turning to face you. “It was just a dumb kiss, it didn’t mean anything.”
“It didn’t?” You ask.
“Do you even remember it?”
“No,” you shake your head, “but that doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings for you.” You hear Yunhyeong gasp. Hanbin just looks surprised.
“Did I say anything?” You ask him.
“You said-”
“Shut up Chanwoo,” Hanbin looks at you. “You said you wanted to be my girlfriend.” You could take a second and weigh your options, but you also know if you don’t say something now you probably never will.
“Well, I do.” Your voice shakes a little, but you’re confident in your answer.
“You do?” You might be imagining things, but Hanbin looks happy.
“Yeah.” He thinks for a second, then jumps off the counter.
“Come on.” He holds out his hand, so you take it. Neither of you say anything to Yunhyeong and Chanwoo as you walk right past them, down the hall to Hanbin’s room.
He follows you in and closes door behind you. Now that you’re alone, you don’t know what to do. You glance at Hanbin and he looks just as nervous as you. He’s leaning against the door. You wish he would come hold your hand or sit next to you or anything.
“y/n,” he starts to say, but you cut him off.
“I’m scared.”
“What?” He looks so concerned. You love him for it. “What’s wrong?”
“Come here,” you say without thinking. Hanbin sits next to you and takes your hand as you lean against him. It feels so natural.
“What is it?” He asks quietly, rubbing his thumb over the back of your hand.
“What if we fuck this up?”
“We won’t,” he says right away.
“Listen,” you reply. “You’re my best friend, and I absolutely adore you, but if we do this, and we fall in love and date and whatever and it doesn’t work out, where does that leave us?”
Hanbin turns to look at you. “Haven’t we already fallen in love?”
You answer him by leaning in and giving him a small kiss. You’re surprised at your boldness, but it feels right. When you pull away, the two of you smile at each other. You really do love him.
“Is that what our first kiss was like?” You ask, breaking the silence. “I’m so sad I don’t remember it.”
“It wasn’t like that, no,” he tells you.
“Oh god,” you groan. “Was it like messy and weird? I wasn’t that drunk, was I?”
“No,” he shakes his head. “It was actually really nice.”
“Can we do a reenactment?” Hanbin blushes. “Oh my god, was it like something out of a R-rated movie?”
He shakes his head again. “Maybe like 14A?” You gasp.
“You’ll have to show me.”
“Not today,” he says, “I have things to do.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You frown.
“Just, uh,” he looks down. “If I kiss you like that again, I’m pretty sure I know what’ll happen next.”
That makes you blush. “Okay cool,” you say awkwardly. “We’ll save that for another time.”
“Good plan,” he smiles at you. “Should we go back out there?” He gestures to the door.
“What do we say?”
“What do you mean?” He asks.
“We’ve been in here, alone, for how long? That’s not what friends do. They’re going to have questions.”
“We’re not friends,” Hanbin says.
“No?” You ask, trying to ignore the fact that your heart rate’s gone up. “What are we then?”
Before he can answer, you hear Chanwoo’s voice outside. “If you two are fucking in there, let us know so we can leave.”
“We’re not!” You and Hanbin yell back in unison.
“Okay good,” Chanwoo responds. You both wait until you hear him walk away.
“Let’s go, so they stop speculating about what we’re doing in here.” You get up. Hanbin doesn’t. “What?”
“I love you.”
“I know.”
“Oh my god,” he groans. “Did you really have to quote Star Wars right now?” You smile, as he stands up.
“Sorry,” you tell him.
Hanbin kisses your forehead, taking your hand. You give him what’s mean to be a quick kiss on the lips, but he wraps his arms around you, holding you close.
“I love you too,” you whisper once he pulls away.
“Thank god for that.” You roll your eyes. “Come on.”
You’re not ready for the constant teasing you’re going to get from Yunhyeong and Chanwoo, but you don’t mind. Hanbin’s yours now, so at least you’ll suffer together. That’s what friends do, right?

Tumblr media
If 17-year-old you could see yourself now, you don't know whether the reaction would be amazement or fear. At age 23, you were a performer and bartender for a high-end bar famous for its mafia visitors. You'd often listen to their meetings whenever they requested "beautiful company," and that made you a very valuable person in the business, even without you trying to be.
When the day you feared finally came, your kidnappers wanted all the information you had from other mafia groups. They were very kind to you, treating you like a valuable treasure. They called themselves iKON, and the moniker was written in numerous places in the house. Their leader, B.I., insisted you be treated like royalty, but one of the boys enjoyed the chaos of going against the leader's requests. He was a charmer, and you fell for him quickly. Gradually, the romantic encounters turned into sexual encounters, and you found out that you were pregnant with his child shortly after.
Until the day you told him of the pregnancy, you only knew him by his mafia name, Song. When you revealed your secret, however, he happily disclosed that "Yunhyeong will be a good father. Don't worry." It was his way of disconnecting his mafia status from his child. You figured this out as he moved you out of the mafia base with B.I.'s approval and bought a good home for you both to stay.
You remember the day you gave birth as if it was yesterday. You remember the joy that swept away all the pain as you held your newborn daughter. You remember all the boys visiting you at different times, and you'll never forget how proud Yunhyeong looked as he introduced his squad to his daughter.
Soojin. You remember her baby face without issue, even though it was 17 years ago. Your daughter grew up so fast - as you're told they all do.
Soojin and her father get along so well. Both of them are trouble makers, so you always see them planning chaos or laughing about something together. You and your daughter talk about deeper subjects more often than not, so seeing her being carefree and enjoying life with Yunhyeong brings so much joy to your heart.
Today, however, you catch them fighting. You don't hear the topic, only Soojin storming out after her final jab at her father, "You don't understand me at all!"
Seeing the pain on Yunhyeong's face hurts, but you decide to check in with your daughter instead, knowing that Yunhyeong can handle himself. Following Soojin, you find her on the front porch, sitting with her arms wrapped around her legs and her head buried in her knees. You sit down next to her, the wooden patio revealing your presence with a creak. You don't say anything before she immediately begins ranting about her father.
"Why doesn't he understand? Why can't he just be happy that I found someone that makes me happy?"
This is the first time your daughter has ever mentioned anything along the lines of having a crush, so you know it must be important to her, "Soojin, you've found someone?" You try approaching the situation softly, opting to learn about her partner before thinking about why her father would be upset.
"Mom, he's amazing. He's really sweet and caring. He takes me to nice parks, and we message every single day. He's pretty tall and really cute, too."
"So, what's this boy's name?"
"Hyunwoo. Jeong Hyunwoo. He's a year older than I am, and he's technically in the mafia - he was born into it just like me - but he treats me so well."
Suddenly, you understand why Yunhyeong freaked out over Soojin's boyfriend, but you don't bring it up just yet, "Jeong Hyunwoo. He sounds nice. Have you met his family?"
"Yup! We hang out with his dad a lot. He's super cool. Makes lots of jokes. His mom died when he was younger, and he's an only child, so it's just the two of them. For some reason, though, dad freaked out on me when I told him. Something about dangerous relationships and hoping I'd never have to deal with this stuff. I have no idea what he's talking about. Ugh, it's not fair. Why can't he be cool about it like Hyunwoo's dad?"
"Honey, your father just wants to protect you. He'll come around. He just knows someone he has bad blood with that has the same last name. They used to be friends but the friend was recruited into a mafia group, which meant he never even said his goodbyes to your father."
"But dad's in the mafia, so what's the big deal?"
With a sigh, you reveal some of your husband's past, "Your dad didn't choose to join. He had to join or they would've killed him for the damages he caused as a teenager. He despises the lifestyle, but there's no way to leave once you become part of it. Your father accepted the life he was forced into and did his best with what was given to him. His friend, Yunho, on the other hand, was invited and willingly chose to join. He does want you to be happy, but he's worried about your life if you date a mafia member."
"Well, what about you? Why'd he date you if that was the case? He was okay involving you?"
You laugh and shake your head. You think back on the unconventional relationship you and your now-husband had before the marriage, but decide not to explain that quite yet, "That's a very long and complicated story for another day. Just know that your situation is extremely different from mine. If you truly love Hyunwoo, don't let your father's attitude affect the relationship. When he sees you truly happy, he'll support you. Believe me."
You could tell that Soojin wasn't quite convinced, but she was always head-strong, so you also know that she will continue her relationship. So, you weren't surprised when she came to you a few days after and announced that she had a date with Hyunwoo. Watching her walk out in her cute date outfit, you can't help but feel proud of her for following her heart.
During the date, you finally confront Yunhyeong, "She'll be okay, y'know? She's the daughter of two very strong people, and we've raised her well."
"I tried so hard to keep her out of the mafia life. And a Jeong of all people could ruin all of that."
You place a hand on his back, "Yunhyeong, you can't use your past against her future. Aren't you happy Soojin finally found her first love?"
"Well, yeah, but..." He sighs, deciding not to finish his complaint.
"She'll be fine."
---
Soojin meets with Hyunwoo at the coffee shop down the street. When he sees her, the smile shows on his whole face.
"You look so beautiful." He places a kiss on her head and takes the seat across from her.
"Thanks, Hyunwoo. My mom helped choose my outfit and styled my hair for me."
Unknown to the couple basking in their puppy love, a low-ranking member of another mafia group sits at the next table and recognizes Hyunwoo's name. To confirm that he's the right person, the member listens in on their conversation.
"How's training? Is your dad being hard on you?"
"Naw, it's pretty smooth. What about you, though? How'd your parents react when you told them?"
"My mom is understanding. She fell for a member, too, after all, so she can relate. My dad, on the other hand... Ugh, he's so difficult!"
At this point, the stranger decides to alert his higher-ups of this potential Achilles' heel for the ATEEZ mafia team.
"He doesn't approve?"
"He hates that I'm becoming part of a lifestyle he tried so hard to keep me out of. My mom said it has to do with your name, too. Apparently, my dad's childhood friend ended up willingly joining the mafia without saying goodbye, and his last name was Jeong."
No longer paying attention, the stranger has been communicating with other members about following the couple around for a kidnapping so they can blackmail their rival mafia group. When the couple leaves the cafe, he follows them to a nearby park, his last-second assignment to find her house underway.
At the end of the date, Hyunwoo walks Soojin back home, finding you sitting out on the porch, reading under the warm light.
"Hey. mom! I'm back!"
As you look up from the book, you find your daughter waving at you with one hand as her other arm links with a nervous-looking boy. You stand up to greet them, and you notice Hyunwoo relax a bit when he realizes how nice you are. You have a short chat before Hyunwoo claims he should get home before his father worries.
"Thank you for walking Soojin home. Get home safely."
You and your daughter watch as he leaves, then she enthusiastically recounts the events of the date. Seeing her this happy makes you smile, as she hasn't smiled this brightly since she was a young child. When the two of you head inside, she falls asleep the moment she lays down. You meet with your husband in your shared bedroom.
"How is he?"
"He seems sweet. He was clearly nervous when he saw me, and he genuinely seems to love her and wants to keep her safe."
"That's good." His robotic response ends the conversation, so you both get into bed.
A few weeks pass before Soojin and Hyunwoo have time for another date. You offer to drive her to the arcade, but she insists on walking to enjoy the nice weather. You kiss her forehead as you tell her to be safe, then watch her until she leaves your view.
Maybe an hour later, an exhausted Hyunwoo comes banging on your front door.
Between moments to catch his breath, he pleads, "Please... tell me Soojin is here... She never came..."
Even though you answered the door, Yunhyeong hears and freaks out. "I told you, Y/N! It's too dangerous for her! She might've been kidnapped!"
You quickly bring Hyunwoo inside, looking up and down the street before closing and locking the door. Once both boys have calmed down a bit, you try calling your daughter, but you're immediately sent to the voicemail. Moments later, Hyunwoo gets a call from his father, who sounds very confused but speaks urgently without revealing details. When Hyunwoo tells him where he is, his father hangs up. Ten minutes later, Yunho pulls up with his leader in the passenger seat. You let them in quickly, only for chaos to ensue the moment Yunhyeong sees Yunho.
He abruptly stands, the chair falling behind him, "Get out of my house."
"Babe, we both want the same things right now. Put the rivalry aside." You try.
"It's him, Y/N. This is the bastard who left without so much as a goodbye."
Time feels frozen as everyone's eyes go wide. Yunho sighs, breaking the silence.
"Hello, Song. It's been a while. You may hate me for the past, but your daughter has been kidnapped. She's being held as blackmail against my group. So, unless you want her to die there, I suggest you put that hatred aside so we can save her."
"Dad?"
"I don't know what you've learned, Hyunwoo, but Song and I were best friends until I chose to join the group, which forced us to cut ties. Their group is a rival; there wasn't much choice in the matter." Yunho says it as if it was rehearsed for years, his eyes still transfixed on Yunhyeong's.
The ATEEZ leader clears his throat before moving forward with the information he has, "I'm HJ, and I received a link to this video earlier." He hits play on his tablet and talks over the soundless visual of your daughter tied down to a chair, "This was accompanied by a message demanding that we give up some of our fronts to them or she dies. I don't think they realize she's your daughter, or else they'd be blackmailing your group as well."
The four boys discuss further action while you listen, quietly analyzing the options. Hours pass without much progress being made. When you finally try to chime in about going to get her yourself, using the same tactics you used as a dancer, there's another knock on the door. The room instantly falls silent as Yunhyeong slinks toward the door, a hand on his gun. As he looks through the peephole, his body relaxes. Keeping his hand on the gun in case of ambush, he opens the door for B.I., who gives him a pitiful look before stepping inside.
"This doesn't look good, Song." The leader states as he pulls out an envelope addressed to iKON.
Opening it, Yunhyeong finds a lock of hair and a handwritten note:
iKON, we have one of your members. This member is a daughter of one of your high ranks. We suggest you follow the instructions on the back of this message if you want to see her ever again.
On the back, the instructions simply list a date, time, and place to meet, followed by their demands of a certain area under iKON's control. From the handwritten element, Yunhyeong quickly narrows down the suspects to two cocky newer groups: Bangtan or The Strays.
"Why is ATEEZ here?" B.I. asks when he reaches the others.
"Soojin is my girlfriend."
"And Hyunwoo is my son. It was easy blackmail for them."
HJ stands and holds out a hand to B.I., "Looks like we have to work together this time."
He reluctantly shakes his hand, gripping tightly, "Only this once. I don't want to lose that zone, but I can't risk Song going insane over his daughter's death either."
The debating and planning continue with more force, as the deadline doesn't give much time. Now that they can narrow down the subjects, they can plan in more depth. The two groups in question are much cockier, so they'll expect the ultimatum to be enough for cooperation. However, they're both smart enough to plan defenses in case of an ambush, and they have the numbers on their side. You're quick to point out that Bangtan's numbers don't show for power, as the top seven do everything themselves rather than relying on others, protective of everything they started together. Hyunwoo adds that The Strays don't have the same numbers as Bangtan, but that power is much more balanced, with each of the top members taking assistants by their side.
"We have to assume this is Bangtan. I don't think The Strays would be this aggressive. They'd take their sweet time with their attack. They'd probably kidnap Soojin and Hyunwoo together so that they have a larger upperhand." B.I. declares, repeating for clarity, "Bangtan do things on impulse like this. The Strays think too much."
Agreeing, you all begin fully planning the attack. Ultimately, Hyunwoo and Yunhyeong will attend the meeting, since they're the clear emotional targets in this scheme. You will infiltrate enemy lines if at all possible, with the support of the ATEEZ elite hacker, Yeosang. B.I. and HJ will join each group's top sniper, aiming at whoever joins the meeting on the opposite side, as well as keeping eye on anyone who comes into contact with you. Everyone wants this done as quickly and quietly as possible.
After two agonizingly-long days, the plans are put into action. Yeosang finds you an entrance around the side of the building, disabling its alarm long enough for you to get inside. You quickly find yourself in a group of other girls who are being given simple equipment. As you approach, the person hanging out guns asks for your member number. Without fail, iKON's intel expert spits out a number that you repeat with confidence.
"Name?"
"Kim Eunsoo." You relay the information you're given and receive a small handgun.
You follow the others, blindly acting like the rest of the pack. You don't have sight on the meeting, but you find yourself face-to-face with one of Bangtan's top members. He gives you a once-over before giving you the 'follow me' gesture with his fingers. Although you're scared, remembering rumors of him being the harshest of the members despite his sweet-sounding name.
When Suga finally leads you far enough from the others, he throws a hand around your throat and leans in close, "Do you think we're that dumb?"
He pulls your earpiece from your ear and breaks it under his foot before moving his hand to your hair, dragging you to the meeting. He cuffs your wrists behind your back before pushing you to the floor next to your daughter.
"Well, well, well. You actually did try some tricks. Good for you. Now, we have both of your girls, Song. You better give us what we want." RM, Bangtan's leader claims, a smirk plastered on his face the whole time.
He clearly sounds victorious, so you refuse to look up, hiding your proud smile since they're falling so easily into the trap everyone set. There were no disguises; you meant to get caught. As he continues his victory monologue, you fidget with the handcuffs, slipping out easily without letting them see. You press a button planted in the fake wedding ring you're wearing, alerting everyone that you've freed yourself and can continue the plan.
See, they neglected to take the loaded gun back, believing you wouldn't be able to use it anyway due to the constraints.
"RM, tell me. You think we're idiots for trying to beat you this time, right?" Hyunwoo mocks, cutting off the mafia boss mid-sentence, "You think we'd send Y/N in without a disguise and expect to get a win like that. Isn't that right, buddy?"
Right on queue, you point your gun at RM, and the snipers turn the scope lights on, revealing that the other members have targets on their chests. The leader chuckles and raises his hands.
"Oh no! They have us surrounded! Can you believe this, Jin?" Sarcasm flowing from every word, you realize he's planned for far more than you expected.
Understanding RM's plans at the same time, Hyunwoo lunges toward his girlfriend, shielding her body with his. Shots sound. Groans echo through the building as bullets pierce skin, followed quickly by shuffling feet to get the wounded out of harm's way.
When the dust settles, Yunho and B.I. quickly work to treat the wounded. As B.I. removes a bullet from your right shoulder, you tell him that you hit RM clean in the leg.
"It seemed like slow motion. I watched the bullet break his skin right before the pain hit my back."
"If you're such a good shot, we should train you properly. Dunno if your husband would approve, though."
Everyone made it back safely, so you're all exceptionally happy about how smooth it went. Only you and Hyunwoo actually got hit, and, luckily, neither shot hit anything vital. You also know Bangtan didn't suffer many injuries either, which gives you peace of mind.
Once B.I. finishes dressing the wound, you meet with Yunhyeong, who won't stop thanking Hyunwoo for jumping on top of Soojin and taking the bullet. You drag him away and have him meet with Yunho, who sits on the roof with a celebratory bottle of beer.
"Hey... Thanks for helping save our daughter." Yunhyeong nervously starts, sitting in between the two of you.
"Now, Yunho, so you want to tell Yunhyeong what you told me?"
Silence falls over the group momentarily.
"Nah, I think this speaks enough." Stubbornly, he takes another swig of his drink before laying back, "I'll help my friends, even if the companies we work for are rivals."
As silence creeps in again, you decide not to push for it anymore tonight. You already have a nice victory to sit on, so you feel no need to try for another. You lay down and let your mind drift as you stare up at the stars, knowing full well that Yunhyeong will accept Hyunwoo as family, meaning Yunho will slowly become part of the family as well.

happy ; pt.1, pt.2
“Group meeting,” Chanwoo answers before anyone asks. “That’s why I’m here, I want to have a group meeting.”
He managed to catch everyone in the living room. A small box-fan whirs on the coffee table, Chanwoo clicks the speed lower and pushes it to the back edge of the table. The tension grows with every pace Chanwoo takes as everyone else in the room pretends to relax.
Chanwoo stops pacing after a few minutes and stands behind the table. He picks at the peeling paint on the fan as he talks. “I want to talk about my boyfriend.”
“Chanwoo,” Hanbin starts.
Chanwoo holds his hand up to stop him. “Just listen.”
They seem to be paying attention to him, he can’t tell if their focus is a good or bad thing.
“Y/N is a good person. You don’t know anything about him because you choose not to know anything about him. I’ve tried to tell you about him and every time I’ve mentioned him one of you rants and raves about how bad of a person he is.” Chanwoo pushes his hair back.
The plan Chanwoo is carefully concocting in his mind shakes and wobbles but waking up to your beautiful face, watching your glasses slide down the bridge of your nose as you concentrate on new designs, the effortless charisma that exudes from you as you pour and mix drinks at the bar, Chanwoo’s want for you to be close to his friends, to have his favorite people know and enjoy being around each other. Those things are enough to push his hastily made plan into the spotlight.
Chanwoo repeats. “He’s a good person. He’s an amazing artist, he’s fiercely protective, he takes care of his family, sends them money, calls any family he can as much as he can, he gets upset if I stay out too late, he checks my temperature every hour if he even hears a cough, he’s such a good person. His job, being covered in tattoos, those aren’t good enough reasons for you to judge him like you have. How many times have you guys asked to meet him? I don’t think I’ve heard any of you ask about him, meanwhile, he asks about you, wants to meet you, listens intently anytime I mention you.”
Nobody makes direct eye contact with Chanwoo and he continues.
“I want you to meet him today.” Chanwoo crosses his arms, shaking his head when expressions of disagreement appear. “I don’t want any questions or objections. I need you to meet him, see who he really is. I know you’re going to end up liking him. You’re meeting him, today. I want you to see where he works, how he is, who he is. It’s not up for question, everyone in the car.”
*
“Chanwoo!” The receptionist leans forward, pulling her headphones off. “We’re not supposed to be taking any walk-ins today, but I would be willing to give you a piercing or two without putting it on the books.”
Chanwoo shakes his head. “Is Y/N still with his client?”
“Do you want me to go tell him you’re here? See how long it’ll be?”
“Yes, thank you.”
The receptionist walks into the backroom. Bobby walks to one of the walls, looking at the tattoo designs and pictures tacked on the wall. Chanwoo looks over at him and points at a specific picture on the wall.
“That was Y/N’s first big tattoo he did alone. He worked on a bunch of smaller tattoos, working his way up, working with the other artists, but the person that one is on. Austin, I think his name was. He thought Y/N’s work and drawings were amazing and asked him to do this huge piece across his back. It’s still the biggest piece Y/N has ever done.”
“He drew it himself?” Bobby asks, inspecting the big picture and the smaller ones circling it.
“Did everything himself. Austin is like a tattoo aficionado. His word in the business is a big one and after he finished the tattoo, Austin spread his name around. Now he’s a huge name in the business and people beg for appointments and seating at all hours.”
The receptionist returns and sits back in her seat. “And when we open the all-day walk-ins we have lines going down the block. He’s made himself a big name, people come from all around.”
Junhoe and Yunhyeong look at the different piercings while Jinhwan joins Bobby looking at the different tattoo options. Donghyuk and Hanbin join Chanwoo in the middle of the room.
“What’s that?” Donghyuck points to a gumball-machine in the corner.
“They are tattoo vending machines.” Chanwoo points to one end of the room. “They start at fifteen dollars and go all the way to one hundred dollars. You pay, turn the dial, whatever design you get, you get it tattooed.”
Your client walks out of the closed room, smiling at Chanwoo and the receptionist as they walk out.
“Hey Chanwoo.” The client grabs a package of bandages from the front desk. “You thinking about getting anything?”
Chanwoo scrunches his nose. “No, I don’t think so. Is that your last appointment?”
“Yep, left arm down, now to work on the right. It’s a shame Y/N gets booked so far out, he’s one of the best.”
“I’ll make you a deal,” Chanwoo smiles. “If you can tell my friends here how good of a tattoo artist and person Y/N is, I will put in a good word for you.”
Everyone begins to pay attention to the client and they pull their sleeve up. They slowly rotate their arm, pointing out a few tattoos.
“Well, you can see for yourself how talented he is. He’s my go-to artist and added a free nose piercing for being a ‘frequent flyer’.” The client nods his head and lets his sleeve fall. “And as for personality, he is wonderful. He gives amazing advice, he knows when someone needs to talk, he put in a good word for me at his old bar, and even though he left and started that new place the managers liked him enough to trust him. Speaking of that bar though,”
“Yeah, thank you.” Hanbin smiles and nods his head. The client walks out. “We get it, Chanwoo.”
“No. I want you to hear about him, meet him.”
“But you don’t need to corner someone who he stabs with a needle thousands of times.” Jinhwan shakes his head. “We’ll meet him, but you don’t need to ask everyone he knows about it.”
You step out of the tattoo room, stretching your shoulders out. You smile down the hallway at Chanwoo, spitting a piece of gum into the trashcan. Chanwoo waves you down and you straighten your back. You take a deep breath before walking down the hallway, a hopeful and friendly smile on your face.
“Hello,”
“What kind of bird is this?” Junhoe asks. You raise your eyebrows and look at the drawing he’s pointing to. “This one, do you know what kind it is?”
Your eyes light up. “Chickadee.”
Junhoe nods with an appreciative grin. “It’s on the wall a few times, and in a few of the books. Why?”
You scratch the back of your head, Chanwoo can see your ears going red. “I had a mentor when I first got into art and tattooing, he was obsessed with animals and symbolism, especially birds. He had a big tattoo of an albatross. Albatross are said to be teachers, they guide you, challenge you. He said I was a chickadee.”
“What’s the symbolism of-”
Chanwoo answers for you. “Unfathomable positivity, courage. Surrounded and loved by good people, I check those two boxes. Trusting, always willing to listen and offer help.”
You clear your throat and move on as your face becomes redder and redder. “Since then, I’ve wanted a chickadee tattoo. I draw them whenever I’m upset or need to take my mind off of things. But because of how much I want one, I can never pin down a style or place that feels perfect. I’ll probably end up tattooing twenty on myself.”
“You can do that?” Yunhyeong asks. He repeats. “Tattoo on yourself?”
You nod and show a spot on the back of your wrist. “This was the first time I worked with glow-in-the-dark ink, wanted to test everything out on myself first.” You pull your shirt up to show your inner forearm, another on your other hand. “I’ve got a few on my legs too. It’s an easy way to practice and fight off boredom.”
“How bored can you be? Don’t you work two jobs?” Jinhwan asks.
“I do. I work here during the day and then most nights I work at the bar.” You shrug, bumping shoulders with Chanwoo as you turn to the door. “I don’t like sitting still.”
“Do you own the bar? Your last appointment said you opened the place.” Hanbin’s eyebrows pull down in question.
You nod slowly. “I do. Me and two of my friends opened it when I graduated.”
“He got his four-year degree early, finished his tattoo apprenticeship, and opened a bar in the span of a few months.” Chanwoo brags. “Then met me and his life got even better.”
“I’m not arguing.” You smile. “It was stressful for a while but it’s very rewarding. I can be a CEO when I want, I can be bartender, give very affordable tattoos without worrying about paying rent.”
Chanwoo smiles at Hanbin as the other guys ask you more questions. “So?”
“He seems nice. He has a stable job. He’s been watching you out of the corner of his eye, he seems to care for you.”
“I could have told you that without forcing you to come here.” Chanwoo joins you and rolls his eyes at some of the questions. “I think they like you.”

Love is a Triangle
Tumblr media
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4
Pairing: Double B x Reader
Genre: Fluff, Angst
In the next morning, I wake up to Hanbin shirtless, with his head in the level of my belly and holding my arm while peacefully sleeping, and Jiwon with his arm around my waist, hugging me. I can't see his face because I'm facing Hanbin. I could be here all day and thankfully, I can, it's Saturday. I wish I knew what time it was. Since Jiwon is still here, it's probably early, he always wakes up first. I sigh carefully, so I don't wake up Jiwon with his arm on my body and I lift my free arm to touch Hanbin's hair. I admire him, sleeping. Breathing in and out, so quietly.
 - Summer? - I hear Jiwon's voice behind me. - Are you awake?
 - Yes. - I answer without turning around.
 - Do you want to get up? - Ugh, I love his morning voice, it's so raspy and manly.
 - What time is it?
I feel Jiwon move on the bed, checking the alarm clock.
 - 11:39 am.
 - Oh, it's late. Yes, I would like to get up.
 - Ok, I'll let you go. - Jiwon chuckles and removes his arm around me. His laugh always makes me want to laugh.
 - I can't get out though.
 - Why?
 - Lift a little bit and see for yourself.- Jiwon does as I say and smiles, when he discovers Hanbin is grabbing my arm.
 - He's so cute. - Jiwon grabs my shoulder and stares at Hanbin. We watch him like we're looking at a baby.
 - I will never get tired of this. - I face Jiwon.
 - Me neither. - He smiles and kisses me.
 - Did you wait for him? Last night?
 - Yes.
 - Is everything alright? - Did they fight more?
 - Yes, don't worry. - Jiwon gets out of the bed, trying not to be too trembling. - We should let him sleep.
 - How do I get out? - I point at my arm. - It has a Hanbin on it.
Jiwon chuckles. - Take it slow and replace your arm with a pillow. I do what he advises me, plus a quick kiss on Binnie's hand and  a good morning kiss for Jiwon.
 We get to the kitchen.
 - What do you wanna eat bunny?
 - I already ate. - I confirm that by looking at the frying pan under the counter and a ripped pack of noodles next to it. Jiwon usually wakes up really early, goes eat breakfast and then, goes back to sleep. It's almost a routine so I'm not surprised but I admit sometimes I would prefer he wouldn't do it because I feel lonely eating by myself. - Don't you wanna eat again?
 - Hmm, I'm not hungry although I can cook for you and Bin.
 - Alright, but don't you think he's going to wake up only at lunchtime?
 - No, he can't, we have that photo shoot, remember?
 - Ohhh, with Dazed, right? I totally forgot about that. - Sigh, even on the weekends they have to work.
 - Exactly. I'm going to wake him up after I finish your breakfast. - Jiwon goes to the fridge. - What do you wanna eat?
 - Hmm, some muesli with fruit. - I can't get used to eating full meals in the morning even though I'm in Korea for five years now. - You don't have to do it, just cook for Hanbin.
 - Hey, I said I would do it so I'll prepare it. What should I make for Hanbin? - He takes the milk off the fridge.
 - Maybe some rice with veggies and...an omelet?
 - Which veggies? - He takes carrots off the fridge and looks for more vegetables. Of course a bunny would pick the carrots first.
 - Let me help you. - I get up.
 - No! I don't need help. Eat your cereal. - He pours milk in the bowl and the muesli.
 - What about the fruit?
Jiwon starts peeling an apple while I begin to cut the carrots and zucchini. He looks at me after finishing my fruit salad.
 - What are you DOING? I told you to sit and eat.
 - You need help, you take too long. - I say, determined, while I put a frying pan on the stove to cook the vegetables. He ignores what I say and prepares the rice and breaks the eggs into another frying pan.
 - What are you guys doing?
 - Good morning Binnie! - I look behind me. Hanbin has his t-shirt on again. - We're cooking breakfast for you.
 - No, I'm cooking, you're just getting in the way. - Jiwon grabs the veggies I just chopped and throws them into the pan.
 - Yeah, right. If it wasn't for me, you would still be deciding which vegetables you should cook. - Hanbin smiles at my answer.
 - Good morning gorgeous. - Jiwon approaches him and kisses him. I smile at them and check the omelet. It's ready. I turn the stove to zero.
 - What about you? Aren't you going to give your boyfriend a good morning kiss? - Hanbin comments.
 - Yes, just a second. - I put the omelet on a small plate in front of Hanbin's place on the table. I go around the table to kiss him. He smiles, satisfied. He's so cute.
Jiwon finishes the rice and the veggies while I eat my breakfast.
 - Thank you, babe. - Hanbin says. - Oh baby, I almost forgot. - He turns to me - We’re having dinner with the members and they said we could invite you, do you wanna come?
 - Oh yes! I miss Junhoe so much.
 - What? - Jiwon eyes widen.
 - What? - Hanbin’s next.
 - I mean...It will be fun, I haven’t seen them in a while. - I correct myself so I don’t sound so excited.
 - What are you saying, you saw them two weeks ago?! - Hanbin says, confused.
 - I think we should end this conversation. - I say, so I don’t get killed by my two jealous boyfriends.
 - You miss them often? - Jiwon asks.
 - Of course. I’m their fan and friend.
 - Is this why they invited her? They miss her too? - Jiwon asks Hanbin.
 - Now that you’re asking that, I think you’re right! - Hanbin realizes.
 - Look, boys, if you didn’t want me to go, why did you mention this to me in the first place?
 - No, we want you to go because we don’t want to leave you at home alone. I thought that was your reason too. - Jiwon says.
 - Of course. But I really like them so it’s normal that I miss them! Ok, let’s stop talking about this.
 - I think it’s best that we do because I’m getting mad. - Hanbin states.
 - Whatever. - Jiwon gets up and goes to our bedroom. Sigh.
They get so jealous when I talk about them. What do they think, that I’m going to date the whole iKON group? For Christ’s sake.
Hanbin eats his food and goes to the bedroom too. My heart hurts. I hate to see them like this.
 - Boys? - I enter the bedroom and see them sitting on our giant bed, watching their cell phones. - Is everything okay?
 - Yes, I’m sorry. - Hanbin takes my hand when I sit on the bed with them. - We just...we’re used to being the center of your attention.
 - Yes so when you talked about them like that we kind of flipped, I’m sorry. We love you. - Jiwon hugs me.
 - I love you too. - I smile. Hanbin joins our hug.
 - Let us prove how sorry we are. - Hanbin smirks.
 - Now? Don’t you have to get rea... - I get interrupted by Jiwon’s wet neck kisses on me. I close my eyes and breathe deeply, enjoying his lips touching my skin. Hanbin starts to touch my legs and running his hands through my body until he unbuttoned my shirt and kisses me roughly on the lips, while I feel Jiwon sucking on my skin, definitely leaving marks later.
 - Would Junhoe kiss you like this? Would he make you feel this way? - I just wanna laugh about what I just heard because they didn’t let this go yet but they would probably get upset, so, I control myself and answer what they want to hear:
 - No, baby. Only you can make me feel this way.
 - That’s right, only we can make you feel pleasure. - Hanbin replies. - Only we can love you like this.
They are so protective of me they sometimes don’t realize they’re getting upset over little things like this when they don’t need to.
We spent more half an hour touching and kissing each other until we realize it’s time for them to get ready for their photo shoot when my phone buzzes with a message.
We take a shower and dress up. They prefer to eat after so they look in good shape for the photographs. We arrive at the place and surprisingly, the other iKON members arrive at the same time. I wanted to say hi and talk to them for a little bit because I didn’t know it was a group photo shoot, therefore, I had no idea they would be here, but I decided to grab some food for them and myself while they do their thing. I eat carefully at the restaurant and take my time, so I don’t disturb them while they’re working and then I come back one hour later. When I get there, Donghyuk, my Binnie and Yunhyeong are posing for the photographer and the others are sitting down or standing and talking to each other. I go to Jiwon, who just took off a long white coat.
 - Hi babydoll, did you eat? - Jiwonie gives me a kiss on my cheek.
 - Yes, and I brought you some. - Jiwon searches in the bag with a happy face.
 - Thank you so much! - He kisses me again on my face.
 - Hi Summer! - Junhoe says.
 - Hey, how are you? - I greet him with a kiss and I immediately feel Jiwon's eyes on us.
 - Summer! - Chanwoo calls.
 - Chanwoo! - My sweet voice appears. I hug him.
The rest of the group ends their part of the photos right when Jinhwan comes to greet me. We always got along very well since him, Jiwon and Hanbin used to spent a lot of time together.
 - Hi Summer baby. - Jinhwan says, carelessly. Hanbin eyes Jinhwan. Uh-oh. He’s about to die, that’s Hanbin’s nickname for me.
 - What did you say? - Hanbin gets closer to us.
Jinhwan smirks. - Cool off, I was just teasing you.
I exhale deeply. Hanbin's face is tense but he relaxes once I talk.
 - How was it, baby? Are you hungry? - I put my arms around his neck.
 - I don't know if it's over yet. - Hanbin looks at the plastic food bag next to Jiwon.
 - Did you bring food?! - Hanbin says, excited. - Oh, I'm starving! - Of course he is, it's 3:44 pm. - Thank you, you're a peach. - He searches what's in the bag and opens the package.
 - Long time no see, Summer. - Yunhyeong turns to me, after my boyfriend's attention changes to the sushi.
 - Indeed! I didn't know we would see you before dinner. - Donghyuk admits.
 - Yes, me neither but my friend canceled on me so I decided to come.
 - Hanbin. - The male photographer calls and he goes to him. He comes back after talking to the man.
 - So, they want to take a last group photo and then, they want to take more photos outside, on a rooftop two miles from here since the weather is nice today.
 - Oh, I think I should go home then. - My uncle lives in Korea, before I moved with Hanbin and Jiwon, I lived at his house. For that reason, we see each other often and today he's coming to our house to check on me.
 - Yes, please go baby. Don't be late because of us. - Hanbin turns to them while Jiwon helps me dress my denim jacket. - Alright! Everyone back into the vans! - He yells so they obey. He's so hot when he plays the leader. - We have work to do.
 - Have fun with your uncle baby girl. - Jiwon grabs my face and kisses it. - I love you, we'll be back to you soon.
 - Yes, I'm sorry we're not going home with you Summer baby. - Hanbin pouts. - Say hello to your uncle for me. - He kisses my cheek.
 - Okay, good luck! - I walk away.
 - Wait! - Hanbin runs after me. - I'll call the cab for you.
 - Don't run from me, you idiots. I want to help too.
Hanbin and I smile to Jiwon's comment. Sometimes he feels like a dad to us because he's one year older. I think he feels the responsibility to look after us.
When I get home, I see my uncle standing at the doorway, waiting for me.
 - Oh, there you are. - He closes the magazine he was reading and lets me pass to open the door.
 - Sorry. - I unlock the door and let him come inside first. - I was at a photo shoot with iKON. Hanbin and Jiwon had to finish it so I came alone. So...do you want some tea or coffee?
 - Some tea would be nice. - He looks around our house. - The place looks great, you decorated the walls and added some rugs.  - I start preparing the tea.
 - Yes, thanks. - The last time he was here was almost after we moved in.
-I can imagine your mother saying how much she likes the colors of the walls. - I chuckle because I can picture it too. - Do you miss her?
 - Yes, of course. And my siblings too.
 - When was the last time you saw them?
 - Hmm. - I think for a bit. - Five months ago. I took some holidays and went to visit them.
 - Oh, I think that was around the time I went to the US for some business and I saw them too. - We both sit on the table after I bring the cups of tea. - How's Jiwon and Hanbin?
 - Full of work, like always. - Uncle gives me a sympathetic smile. - No, but they're good, they're good.
 - And you?
 - I'm great, I finally think my life is stable. - I smile, proudly.
 - I'm happy for you, it doesn't even seem like the scared girl I knew five years ago who came to a whole new country, with a different language and culture.
 - Oh, I adapted I know but I'm telling you, it feels great when I see you so I can speak in English again.
We talk for about an hour and then he leaves. I text Hanbin and Jiwon to know if they're gonna be long.
MESSAGES                                                           3 people
Today, 5:56 pm
You: When are you coming home?
Bunny: We're about to leave, baby girl.
I decided to check what's playing on TV but suddenly I remember it's time for "Romance Is a Bonus Book", the drama Hanbin and I watch together. I try to control my temptation to watch the new episode but I'm so bored I can't think of anything else to do right now. So I watch it. In fact, I watch the whole episode, 1 hour and 6 minutes. Jiwon said they were about to go home, how are they not here yet? My phone starts ringing. It's their manager.
 - Hello?
 - Yes, Summer? Hi, it's Jaeho. I'm sorry for disturbing you but one of the vans of the iKON members suffered an accident, it crashed into a car and your boyfriends were in the van... It's not that serious but I thought you should know they're at the hospital to get checked out since Bobby was in the front with the driver. - I gulp, in shock. - He continues to talk but I can’t listen, my ears are blocked by my impact of the second sentence.
 - I-I hum...which hospital?
 - Bumin Hospital Group.
 - Thank you, I'll be there in ten minutes. Goodbye. - I turn off the call and I get into my car as fast as I can.
My heartbeat is so high I can actually hear it. I can't believe this is really happening. One day everything is so perfect and the next day, all I've built is crashing down. Jaeho said it wasn't serious but I can't help but worry. They are everything to me, I can't imagine my life without them.
I arrive at the hospital and go to the receptionist of the urgency room.
 - Hello, I'm Summer Evelyn Parks, could you tell me where are the patients Kim Jiwon and Kim Hanbin, please? - The lady is writing their names on the computer.
 - Are you related to them in any way?
 - Yes, I'm their girlfriend.
She gives me a funny look. I don't have the patience for this right now. I wish I could just enter without being followed by security.
Jaeho appears and calls me. Before we go, he tells the lady that I'm with them. Their manager makes me follow him to a big private room. There are about ten beds in it. Being famous sometimes has benefits. The first one I see is Hanbin, sitting on the edge of the bed. I run to him, he gets up and hugs me tight. I sigh.
 - You're okay. You're okay. - I comfort myself and I kiss him.
 - I'm okay. - He pets my hair.
 - Where's Jiwon?
Hanbin points to the bed next to Donghyuk's. He's laying down. I feel like my heart is about to come out of my chest again.
  - Jiwon. - I call him and he gets up. I notice he has a small compress on his head.
 - Baby girl! - He hugs me. - I told you not to call her.
 - I didn't! - Hanbin replies. - I made Jaeho do it...
 - Are you okay? What happened? - I start shooting questions like an arrow hits the target.
 - Oh, I'm so glad you weren't there. - Hanbin admits.
 - I was on the passenger seat with the driver and everything was normal until the car in front of us did an abrupt braking and then we hit. There wasn't time to stop the van. So then, the airbag fired but I hit my head on the side of the car because I was sitting in a weird position. - My face says anxiety, sadness, and pity clearly because Jiwon has the urge to respond to that. - Don't worry, I'm okay baby.
Tears start falling from my eyes. - Are you really?
 - I am, don't cry, please. You're making me sad.
 - You’re making us. - Hanbin corrects him.
 - He hugs me again, worried about me. - I know you were probably really shaken up about us, right? - I nod and let him hold me. - It's alright, I understand. But as you can see, we're fine. Nothing happened. We're here with you. It's not our time yet, you still have many years to put up with us. - I smile, almost forcefully. He wipes the tears off my face and kisses me.
 - Does that hurt? - I point to his head.
 - No, it's not that bad, I don't understand why they had to put a whole compress on a scratch.
- We canceled dinner plans. - Hanbin informs me.
 - Are they okay? - I ask about the rest of the members. - Yes, our Jiwonie was the only one to get hurt. - Hanbin pouts.
 - Maybe we should baby him like he does with us. - I put a happier face.
 - Yes! - Hanbin agrees.
And so, we do. - After we get out of the hospital with the doctor's orders, of course. We cross the street holding his hands, Hanbin covers him with a blanket as soon as he sits on our house's couch, I cook dinner and I give him spoons full of rice and meat.
 - What did you do this afternoon? Were you still with your uncle after Jaeho called you? - It still hurts to imagine the accident but I try to calm down and simply answer Jiwon's question.
 - No, he left early. I watched a random show and "Romance is a Bonus Book".
- You watched “Romance is a Bonus Book” without me? - Hanbin strikes.
 - After a car accident, that's what you worry about. Good to know. - Jiwon teases him.
 - Noo, I love you too babe, I’m so glad you’re okay! - Hanbin kisses him. Aw, they make my heart melt. - Now, you. - Hanbin changes his face to serious.
 - I...I'm sorry, I was bored and… - I try to excuse myself.
 - Shut up, I'm mad. - Hanbin turns his face to make a scene. - I can’t believe you watched it without me! We always watch it together.
 - Please forgive me? I love you? - I get closer to his face and I try to kiss him.
 - Don't talk to me, traitor.
 - If you don't forgive me, I will kiss you forever until you do. - I start to give him a lot of kisses.
 - Okay. - He pretends like he's upset.
Jiwon looks at us. - Tch, you're so desperate for love. - He refers to Hanbin, of course.
 - You’re gonna love today’s episode, they… - I get interrupted.
 - Don’t tell me spoilers! - Hanbin whines.
 - No, I was just going to say that…
 - No, I don’t want to know! - Hanbin says, covering his ears.
 - But...ugh!  This is so hard, I really want to tell someone! - I whine.
 - I do, tell me. - Jiwon speaks. I smile, excited and I whisper into his ear. He sighs and smirks to Hanbin, consequently teasing him for not knowing.  - Okay, I think I’m going to bed now, I’m pretty tired.
 - Ok, I’m going with you. - I say while I get up.
 - But… - Hanbin starts. - okay, I’m gonna watch the episode and then I’ll go too.
 - I didn’t wanna say this but I wanted him to come to bed with us. - Jiwon takes his shirt and his pants off, which leaves him only with boxers on. I don’t understand how they sleep almost naked every day but still manage to have their bodies hot.
 - Me too bub. It was a hard day, I want you both by my side.
- Binnie?
He exhales in relief. - You scared me. Is everything okay?
 - What if you come to bed with us now and I watch the episode with you tomorrow?
 - Okay, sounds good.
We lay down together next to Jiwon, one on each side, and he breathes, satisfied.
 - I’m so glad nothing bad happened. It could’ve been worse, you know? - I say, looking up at our beautiful chandelier.
 - Don’t worry about that baby. - Hanbin replies.
 - No, it couldn’t. We would never leave you alone in this world. - Jiwon says, looking at the ceiling. I look at him and I smile. He always finds a good and positive answer to say. - I turn to him and I hug him, closing my eyes to fall asleep. - I love you boys. - I kiss Jiwon’s arm. Hanbin smiles to Jiwon.
 - We love you too. - They whisper.

See You Then
Pairing: Reader x Song Genre: fluff A/N: I haven’t made any fanfics for two years now so I’m a bit rusty. But anyways, I hope you enjoy this oneshot!
“Oh my god I HATE my boss! He’s gonna make me miss the last bus!” You shouted as you ran as fast as you could to the bus stop. Not really caring about people who might be thinking that you’re a lunatic at the moment.
As you reached the bus stop, you tried to catch your breath and took a glance at the digital clock at the sign next to the bus stop. You let out a sigh of relief as you had fifteen minutes to spare before the bus came and plopped down onto the empty seats.
You begin to adjust your messy appearance after running non-stop for four blocks. You popped in a pair of earphones and went on Spotify to find a chill lo-fi playlist to listen to in the way home.
When you finally found the perfect playlist to listen from, you set your phone aside and looked around. There were people crossing the street, some with their significant others, some all alone. You begin making up stories in your head about these people.
You’ve always been this creative. making up random scenarios about people’s lives. There has been various types of scenarios that you’ve made up before, cute ones, sad ones, you name it.
As you were looking around, suddenly a man presumably in his twenties took a seat on the empty benches at the bus stop. You couldn’t help but look at him. He was good looking. He wore a long black coat that compliments his skin color. He had dark hair with his bangs parted at the side. He was all-around gorgeous.
‘Wow, I wish I had a boyfriend like that’ A sudden thought came to your mind.
You ended up staring at him without you noticing your own actions. Only when he turned his head towards you, you realized your actions and turned away, blushing.
Throughout the entire time waiting for your bus, you really tried to hold yourself back from staring at him. He was unusually attractive and to be honest, you’re kind of developing a crush on him.
Then came the bus. For once in your life you really hoped to stay there longer and spend time just sitting next to him. You reluctantly got on the bus and sat at the seat next to the window facing him.
You had this brilliant idea to take out your phone and take a picture of him and once you did, you were overjoyed. ‘I’m not going to see him after this anyway’ you thought while smiling at the picture you just took.
The next day, your boss held you back at work again. You could’ve sworn that he’s doing it on purpose. That perverted old man had been using the same tactic ever since you started working there.
At first you thought it was nothing but that all changed when he once offered you a ride home. You blindly went into the car with him and chatted for a while. suddenly he began to place his hands on your thighs and touching your exposed skin. You felt uncomfortable and asked him to let you off immediately which wasn’t an easy thing to do. After a while, he finally let you off at the side of the road and drove off. Luckily you were already at your neighborhood so you went on and walked home.
After all that, you never even dared to come close to him nor his car despite his invitations. You would prefer walking to the far away bus stop every day rather than get in that situation ever again.
When you reached the bus stop, you were surprised to see the same man you saw the day before. Your heart began beating fast and you thanked god that you got to see him again today. You sat down and waited for your bus to come. Every now and then, you turn around and steal glances at him.
Your bus finally came and again you felt really reluctant to go home and leave this guy. as you boarded the bus, you took another picture of him.
After that, it has become your daily routine to take the last bus and every single day he was there. Although sometimes you finished your work early, you stayed behind just so you could take the last bus home in hopes you see him again. And every day you took another picture of him.
One day, you saw him coming to a bus stop with a woman on his back. She seemed quite drunk at the moment. She was a pretty woman. Her clothes looked girly and stylish and her makeup was beautiful. You looked at your white pencil skirt, blue long sleeve shirt and ponytail. You were nothing compared to her.
“Babe, I’m not feeling too good” The woman said as he put her down and kneel in front of her. ‘Babe? So she’s his girlfriend’ You felt your heart ache and break.
“Are you okay? Do you need water?” He said to her while cupping her face in his palms. In midst of your heartache, you just can’t ignore how beautiful his voice was. That was the first time ever you heard his voice but it just HAD to be in this setting.
The woman cupped his face in her hands and landed a peck on his lips. “All better now” She giggled. The man continued to take care of the drunk woman carefully.
Your heart broke in pieces. You hoped the bus would come as soon as possible. You just couldn’t take it. You tried to hold in the tears that were threatening to fall.
When the bus came, you quickly got on it, took a seat on the other side facing the road and cried silently all the way home.
You haven’t took the last bus ever since that day. You tried to cover up your heartbreak by finishing work early and took the evening bus to get away from him. The heartbreak, embarrassment and everything that comes with it.
One day, your annoying boss made you stay behind late again despite you finishing your work early on. As usual, he offered you a ride home. You actually thought that you would accept his offer this time just so you wouldn’t have to go to the bus stop and see the guy again.
‘On second thought, better face a heartbreak than being sexually assaulted’ You thought and made your way to the bus stop.
When you got there, you sighed. you were partly relieved that he wasn’t there but you were also disappointed you didn’t see him again.
As usual, you popped in your earphones, played a lo-fi playlist and waited for a bus. To your surprise, the man suddenly ran up to you, gasping for air. You could’ve sworn he wasn’t there today.
“Oh my god! Thank god you’re okay. I was worried sick!” He said. ‘He was worried about me?‘ You thought. That couldn’t be true. He had a girlfriend. Why would he be worried about you?
“You suddenly didn’t come here for two weeks! I thought you moved away or got hurt or something!” He continued. You realized that he was talking to and about you which made you more confused.
“I’m sorry.. I guess?” You replied, still confused.
“Sorry.. I just got worked up” He said and walked away.
“W.. What do you mean by you were worried?” You gathered the courage to ask. He turned around and you can see that he was blushing.
“I guess you could say that I liked you for a while now. You see, I work at that bar over there and we only open at night.” He pointed to a fancy bar near the bus stop.
“The other day I saw you running to the bus stop and cheering to yourself as you made it on time. It was cute. You could say I kind of fell in love at first sight. Then the next day and the days after I waited for you to pass by. I gathered all my courage and wanted to talk to you for the first time the other day.” He said. You couldn’t believe what was happening. YOUR CRUSH LIKED YOU??
“Turns out I’m much more of a coward that I thought I was i failed all of my attempts of wanting to talk to you. But the thing is, even being this near to you makes me undeniable happy. And when you suddenly didn’t come the past two weeks, I was really upset” He continued again.
“I actually had the thought that if you didn’t come today, I was going to give up on you but then I looked outside, I saw you passing by so I-- Why are you crying??” You couldn’t help but cry. This was all like a dream.
“I.. I actually like you too.. The other day when I saw you with that woman my heart just ached and I.. I avoided coming here again” You said in between your sobs.
“Woman? You mean the drunk woman the other day? She’s a customer who got stood up by her asshole boyfriend. I was just taking care of her until she got on the bus.” He explained. You felt a burden was lifted off your chest. You thanked god that this was all happening to you.
“I can’t believe it. My crush likes me.” You said, giggling.
“Same here” He shyly said. Both of you were blushing hard.
“I’ve been meaning to say this for the past few weeks : Hi, I’m Song Yunhyeong. And you are?” He said.
“Hi, I’m [Y/N]. Nice to meet you, Yunhyeong” You replied.
“Nice to meet you too, [Y/N]” You can see he was smiling so happily. you pinched yourself to see if it was all real and it was. This was really happening.
Of all times that you wished the bus never came, this was one moment that you genuinely wanted to stay longer. But alas, the bus still came.
“I guess that’s me.” You said. You can see his expression changing a little. He also didn’t want it to end. You climbed up the stairs of the bus very reluctantly when you suddenly got an idea.
“Hey Yunhyeong, if it’s not weird for you, can we take a selfie together?” You asked after you asked the driver to wait for a minute. He smiled sweetly and nodded. You took a picture with him and finally boarded the bus.
“See you tomorrow [Y/N]!” He shouted so that you can hear.
“See you then!” You replied. When he was out of sight, you looked at the picture you took and smiled. This was the best day of your life and you couldn’t wait to see him again soon.

hanbin; three seconds
pairing; hanbin x reader
word count; 4.5k omg
genre; office au, fluff, soulmate au
summary; you and hanbin had worked together for years but it only took three seconds to change everything
Tumblr media
a/n; that summary is so bad dhjkshg but hanbin is such a cutie!
Tumblr media
Work was easy to you. There was nothing to stress about, nothing to trigger a mood swing or anything of the sort, and no loud bosses either. Since it was only punching in numbers, answering phones, presenting information and a bit of persuasion here and there, it was easy work. And of course, you liked easy work.
The people you worked with only added to the nice environment and made it a better workspace. First there was Bobby, your desk mate. He had the desk across from you which is why you coined the term ‘deskmate’. He was a goofball and only sometimes did his overly happy work mentality overwhelm you.
Next was Chanwoo. He was more on the serious side, although he still had a huge and intricate personality. He found a lot of things that were ironic to be funny, and so did you which made it really nice to be around him since you could share a laugh. He worked two desks away from Bobby.
Junhoe was someone that you wouldn’t exactly say you were close with, but he would say you to were the best of friends. He would always somehow find you as you were in the break room or just at your desk trying to work and he would distract you either by flirting or just... being weird. He was cool, but you tried to keep your distance. Thankfully, he worked across the office.
Yunhyeong was another one of the people you enjoyed being around. He was a good worker, had a good sense of humor, and he was.. kind of cute. Of course, you’d never admit your small crush, but you enjoyed glancing at him from across the office.
Jinhwan had never really been someone you were close with either, but unlike Junhoe, he would agree. You both never had a reason to talk except for when the printer wasn’t working or if you were in the same elevator. Of course, you’ve had some conversations but you didn’t talk often. He was one of the more ‘chill’ people at the office in your eyes.
Donghyuk was probably your favorite person at work. He was always cheerful but it never was too much. He knew when you were in a bad mood and when it was alright to play around with you. He sat in the desk next to yours so it was no wonder you both were practically best friends.
Lastly, Hanbin. You and Hanbin had worked together for years but you never got close enough to really know how he was. You heard about him though. He was practically the best worker at the office so the CEO would always pick him to present new ideas to the public. You hadn’t had many opportunities to talk to him though. Because of that, you couldn’t really figure out his character.
You figured that you wouldn’t ever get to actually talk to him anyways because you never crossed paths. This day wouldn’t be any different though, you were sure.
It started off as a normal day, nothing throwing you off. You arrived at the office and set your things down at your desk, getting settled to prepare for the day ahead of you. Almost immediately though, Junhoe, Chanwoo and Donghyuk were around your desk with gossip.
“Y/N, did you hear?” Junhoe started off, crouching next to your desk.
You raised an eyebrow at his hushed tone, looking around to the other two men around you, “No... I just got here. Is it something important?”
“Of course! We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t,” Donghyuk said matter-of-factly as he lightly shoved your shoulder.
You took in his words, turning towards your desk but jumping a bit when you felt Junhoe’s breath on the side of your face. “It’s about Bobby,” he whispered, slowly backing away from you.
You let out an awkward laugh, “Okay guys, this is kind of weird. Why are you all acting like this?”
Chanwoo spoke up for the group, “Bobby found his soulmate.”
Ah yes, soulmates. The one thing that almost everyone had in the world. There were some people who didn’t have them, of course, but the majority of the world was destined to be with someone.
You and the idea of soulmates was a rollercoaster ride. When you were growing up, you had always thought that finding your soulmate would be a magical experience. You were looking forward to it with every ounce of your small heart.
And then you turned 15 and got your first and last boyfriend. You adored him, and you thought he adored you too. And he did adore you... until he found his soulmate. For him, it was the words on his wrist. You could say them as often as possible but it wasn’t the same as when she said them to him, and his reaction to her words. You could play pretend but the fact of the matter was that your wrist was blank and his had his fateful sentence on it.
When he told you the news, you swore that you would never put your heart through that ever again. So, ever since then, you hadn’t been in a relationship. That was 6 years ago and you still swore off dating. At least until you found the one you were fated to be with.
So with your history with the concept of soulmates, you didn’t exactly know how to feel about being presented with this information. Sure, you were super happy for him. He found the one he was supposed to be with, of course you were happy, but you weren’t really one for office gossip like this so you really had no idea why they were telling you.
“That’s great,” you smiled, genuinely meaning your words, “It was going to happen eventually.”
“But do you know who it was though?” Junhoe questioned, finally pulling up a chair and leaning closer to you.
You leaned back a little in response, “No... who is it?”
“The CEO’s daughter,” he whispered. That got you to raise your eyebrow. Although it was his life and you had no business sticking your nose or any amount of interest into it, it did have a sort of entertaining side to it. Bobby was fated to be with the CEO’s daughter. That didn’t happen every day.
As a result, the rest of the day was filled with your coworkers teasing Bobby about his soulmate and her position in the company. You didn't join in but it was a nice distraction to hear him stammer over his words because of his love life.
"Hey, Y/N," Yunhyeong tapped your desk, gaining your attention, "Can you take this to the CEO? It's just the monthly sales numbers."
"Oh, sure," you smiled, taking the folder and getting up from your desk.
Yunhyeong flashed one of his sweet smiles at you, making your heart almost fly out of your throat. "Thank you Y/N! You're the best."
Sometimes you wondered how it would be if you were soulmates with Yunhyeong. You knew it wouldn't happen because he had a mark on his wrist and you didn't. But only once in a while would you indulge in the fantasy of having him as a soulmate.
You would share secret glances, hold hands in the elevator, and leave work together. Maybe even a few secret kisses in the break room too. You let out an audible sigh as you continued your journey to your boss's office. It kind of hurt you to know that you wouldn't be his soulmate because you let yourself create such a vivid fantasy of being with him. You could imagine going home together, making him dinner, going out to restaurants together, but it wouldn't happen. He had a different soul-mark than you.
Every time you saw Yunhyeong in a short sleeved shirt, it would remind you that you could never be his.
Running along his left arm was a single black line meant to be his soul-mark. You didn’t have a physical one though, or at least not that you knew of. Of course when you were a kid, you searched everywhere for a physical mark but you could never find it.
Since people typically had the same type of connection that their parents had, it would explain why yours wasn’t physical. Your parents bumped into each other for their first meeting. Once they touched, a shock went through their body that felt as strong as a thunderbolt but didn't hurt. As soon as they felt the sensation, they both knew they were destined to be together. Yours wouldn't be exactly the same as theirs but from their history, you were positive it wouldn't be physical.
After thinking of your soul-mark, you decided to come back to reality, deeming it pointless to keep dreaming about a future with Yunhyeong when it wouldn't happen.
And at that exact moment, the universe decided to really... mess with you.
As you started to look up, you felt a force hit you, sending you to the ground. You tried to put your hands out behind you to break your fall, and they did... but they also twisted in a way that you knew wasn't good. They didn’t feel broken though, thank goodness.
You let out a cry of pain and the person responsible for your fall crawled towards you.
"Y/N, are you okay?" A familiar voice asked, leaving you to forget about the pain for a bit.
Hanbin?
You pressed your palms to the floor to try and lift yourself up to get a good look but the pain shot through your arm and you yelped, falling back down.
"Oh god, I'm so sorry!" Hanbin spoke out, crawling closer until his face was in view. He wasn't looking at you though— or rather he was but only at your hands at your sides, "Are they okay?"
"I think so," you said with uncertainty running through your voice as you slowly tried to move them.
As gently as he could, Hanbin pulled one of your hands towards him. You felt something stir in your stomach from the way he looked at them, as if they were fragile.
But then, when your right hand was fully encased in his, you felt it.
You were sure you both felt it too because there was no way only you felt the shock run through your hand where he touched it. And it wasn't just a small shock either. It was a shock that ran from your hands all the way up to your head and mimicked a brain freeze.
You squeezed your eyes shut to try to get rid of the feeling but almost immediately after it came, it left. And that left you to the realization that you had definitely met your soulmate.
But you just touched Hanbin. That couldn’t be right… right?
You opened your eyes and was met with Hanbin’s wide ones staring back at you. “Did you feel that?” He asked, a bit panicked.
You could only nod in response as he fell back into a sitting position, still holding your hand. This was weird. This was really weird. You both had been coworkers for a few years now. How had you not figured out you were soulmates until now? Shouldn’t you have bumped into each other before?
After a few moments, you obtained your ability to speak again but the only thing that came out was, “I have to get this folder to the CEO.”
And in a rush to not lose your job, you quickly got up and scurried away from a confused Hanbin.
Tumblr media
You had gotten the folder back to the CEO and once you got back to your desk, you didn’t have any pending assignments you had to take care of so technically you had free time. The problem wasn’t with having time to talk to Hanbin though, it was what you were supposed to talk about. I mean, you had never really talked to Hanbin before you both bumped into each other so just going up to him and having a casual conversation was out of the picture since you wouldn’t know what casual was with him.
So, during the rest of the work day, you ignored the throbbing in your wrist and stayed at your desk, your eyes glued to the screen in front of you so that you weren’t tempted to look over at the man that you shared a fateful connection with.
“If you don’t take a break from the computer, your eyes can get messed up,” you heard someone say beside you. The sudden voice made you jump, which made them chuckle as you looked over your shoulder to see the culprit... which was Hanbin.
“Seriously, I don’t think you’ve looked up even once all day,” he frowned as you tried to find something to say to him.
The only thing you came up with was “I had a lot of work to do.”
“So much that you hadn’t even looked at the clock yet?” He asked with the ghost of a smirk on his face. Your brows furrowed as you turned back to your screen to look at the time.
6:07 PM. You should’ve gotten off work seven minutes ago.
“I’ll walk you to the elevator,” he offered and although you were not trying to be in an enclosed space with Hanbin for more than one minute, you couldn’t bring yourself to say ‘no thanks’.
The walk to the elevator was quiet, but you didn’t expect it to be amazing or filled with conversation. You both were just walking to the elevator after finding out you were soulmates. Not awkward at all.
As you boarded the elevator with Hanbin, you thought about all the other random strangers who found their soulmates. They would bump into each other or say the fateful words or happen to see the same soul-mark on a complete stranger and tackle them into a hug. Why couldn’t you do that with Hanbin?
Every other girl in the office would’ve jumped at the opportunity to be Hanbin’s soulmate but you were his actual soulmate yet you couldn’t even form one sentence to say to him.
... Ah. Maybe it’s because you’ve worked together for years now and never had an actual conversation.
“Y/N,” Hanbin called out, gaining your attention for probably the third time today, “Let’s go. The elevator stopped—”
“Y/N! Hanbin!” You heard Junhoe call out, momentarily making you want to roll your eyes as hard as you could. But, alas, you refrained, “We’re having a little party to congratulate Bobby and his soulmate. Everyone has to go since the CEO is going too, so come on!”
Reluctantly, you trudged behind Hanbin and made your way to your coworkers who were gathered by the door of the building waiting for you both. Once you had made it to the group, they all started to file out of the door and onto the sidewalks to the grilling restaurant up the street. The one they always went to for company dinners.
But you didn’t mind. The food was good there.

The first half of the ‘party’— ‘dinner’?— was nice. You ate, you got to talk to a few of your coworkers, had some really nice conversations and got to know the people around you better. You even spoke to Hanbin a bit, although it was mostly to ask to pass certain seasonings and side dishes. But still! It counts! You went out of your way to talk to him even though he was sitting a little ways away from you!
But the second half... started to go downhill after Bobby directed a question towards you when Yunhyeong went to the restroom.
“So, Y/N, how are you dealing with your crush?” he asked in between bites as if it was the most casual thing he could ask in front of all of your coworkers.
Your heart practically stopped beating, wanting to look over at Hanbin but having to force yourself not to as if you were going against nature, “What? What crush?”
“Your crush on Yunhyeong,” he really— “We all know you like him, so you can’t deny it either.” Bobby continued to act nonchalant as though this was a normal thing to talk about. But you were freaking out.
“I don’t—” you swallowed thickly, feeling many curious eyes on you, “I don’t like him. I don’t know where you got that from but I do not like him.” The only thing you could try to do was deny the statement as much as you could. But if you thought about it— about him— you really didn’t have any feelings for him anymore. You could try to think up a few scenarios in your head where you were married or whatever but they didn’t hold the same kind of feeling that they did earlier today. Before you met your soulmate.
Bobby only sighed, finally putting down his food, “I’ve seen the way you ogle at him on your break. You totally like him!”
Bobby was bearable most of the time, but right now he wasn’t.
“I do not like him. We aren’t fated together so I can’t like him,” you responded, looking him dead in the eyes to try to get him off the subject. But he didn’t budge.
“But you haven’t found your soulmates yet. Who says you can’t have a little fun before then?” He shrugged with a smirk. At that moment, while rolling your eyes, they stopped on Hanbin, who was looking down at his food with a blank facial expression. He wasn’t eating, he was just sitting there, staring at it as though it was a void that sucked him in and he couldn’t look away.
The thing that brought him back was your next statement.
“I already found my soulmate.”
As if he was trying to break a world record of fastest head turn... or his neck, Hanbin quickly turned to look at you with wide eyes and an ‘o’ shaped mouth. You had... actually acknowledged it.
Hanbin swore he was going to have to spend a little time trying to make you warm up to him but you had acknowledged it by yourself. The situation was less than ideal but still... it made his heart skip a beat.
But you saying this made the whole table gasp. And apparently you said it right when Yunhyeong came back.
“Y/N found her soulmate? Who is it?” He asked as he pulled out his chair to sit down. You heard a few mumbles of agreement, people wanting to know who you were fated with, and you considered telling them. But you stopped.
Were you really going to reveal that Hanbin was your soulmate in front of everyone? How would they treat you both at the office? It was as if time stood still as everyone awaited your response. But just the fact that you were considering telling them was enough for him.
“Hey now,” Hanbin started, stealing the spotlight from you and practically saving your life, “She doesn’t have to tell us who she’s fated with. That’s personal.”
Junhoe groaned, “Way to ruin the fun.”
You didn’t miss the small smile Hanbin shot your way when everyone went back to their regular conversations.
Tumblr media
After the company celebration, you all slowly made your way out of the restaurant. Everyone was still buzzing from the event so they were all deep in conversation. You though? You were still thinking about the way Hanbin helped you out back at the table.
There were a few more times where he intervened when you were asked something you obviously didn’t want to answer and there were times where he asked you small questions here and there to try to get you engaged in the surrounding conversations, but you were focused on that one time. Even thinking about it still made something erupt in your heart.
You wish your little ‘crush’ wasn’t revealed but it was and you had to deal with that. But rather than ignoring you or being mad that you liked someone directly before knowing about him, he helped you out.
And he even smiled at you!
And you didn’t know if it was because you were soulmates or because you had never really paid attention to Hanbin before now but his smile really did things to your heart. One too many times had your heart fluttered during the dinner and sometimes when you caught Hanbin looking over at you, you thought that you would love to have that gaze framed and displayed on your wall. But, of course, you pushed that thought away.
Before you realized it, everyone from the celebration had made it out of the restaurant and onto the street. People were getting their rides figured out and carpooling with others, and some were even too drunk to walk straight so they had to be carried and have a taxi called for them. Meanwhile you were just looking for a clearing so you could make it to the bus.
As you looked around the sidewalk, you noticed that Hanbin was weaving through the crowd. ‘It would be nice if he was trying to get to me,’ you thought but then shook those thoughts away when you saw that Hanbin was, indeed, making his way to you.
“Y/N, you ride the bus right?” He asked when he got to you. You could only nod as he smiled, “Let’s go then. The bus should be arriving soon.”
You said your goodbyes to the rest of your team and hurriedly made your way to the bus. Sitting down at the bus stop, you shifted a little, feeling a bit awkward sitting so close to Hanbin when all you could think about was his smile and how his hands would feel linked with yours. But he didn’t seem to notice.
“Hey, Hanbin?” You called out, wanting to break the silence and also just curious. He looked over at you with raised eyebrows, motioning for you to continue, “How’d you know I rode this bus?”
“Oh, I ride this bus too. You probably didn’t notice though since I sit in the back,” he chuckled softly while you let out a small ‘oh’.
Once the bus finally came, Hanbin led the both of you onto it and into a seat towards the back. The bus started to roll ahead toward your destinations but you hadn’t found anything to talk about. It wasn’t awkward silence that engulfed you both, it was still comfortable but you just didn’t want it to be there. You wanted to talk to him.
And Hanbin wanted to talk to you too.
Truthfully, he had wanted to talk to you about a lot of things but he thought it would be weird to you. He wanted to talk to you before today too. But now that today’s events had happened, he decided that there was no better time to talk to you than now. Especially after you both had warmed up to each other as much as you had in such a short time.
“You know,” he started out, “It kind of made me sad to know that you liked Yunhyeong before.”
Your heart stopped for a second or two before you turned to face him, “Hey, I didn’t—”
“I know,” he interrupted with a laugh, “It’s in the past now anyways. But it still makes me a bit sad.” He let out a sigh, looking towards the window, “You know, I had a crush on someone before I found out too.”
“Really?” you frowned, “Then why were you sad about me having a crush?”
He took this time to turn towards you, and you noticed you both were a lot closer than you thought you were.
“Because you were my crush.”
You felt coldness rush over your face as you processed his words. While you were busy staring at Yunhyeong, Hanbin was busy staring at you. Oh my god.
Hanbin could only laugh at your reaction, continuing his ‘speech’, “I’m really glad I bumped into you today though. Out of the many people I could’ve been fated with, it just happened to be you. That makes me really happy.”
The smile on his face as he looked at you made it hard not to smile back.
“You being happy makes me really happy,” you managed to say to him, making his smile even wider.
A few moments passed as you both looked away from each other and towards the road in front of you. And after those moments passed and a mellow mood surrounded both of you, Hanbin reached for your hand slowly, locking your fingers together as you rode off into the metaphorical sunset together. When you didn’t move to unlink them, Hanbin smiled softly, looking down at where your hands met.
After a few moments of silence as you held hands, Hanbin spoke up, his voice barely in a whisper that you wouldn’t have caught if you weren’t paying attention, “I really like you.”
Maybe being soulmates with Hanbin wouldn’t be awkward at all.
When your stop came up, you started to get off the bus with Hanbin following you, not once letting go of your hand. When you were officially off the bus, you faced Hanbin with a frown, “This isn’t your stop.”
“I know,” he replied with a soft smile, “I’m walking you home.”
It felt as though your heart was a cord and Hanbin was tangling it up as if it wasn’t such an important thing. Hanbin’s gentle gaze on you made butterflies suddenly appear in your stomach and flutter around as though they had enough space to do so. You felt a smile inch its way onto your face but you tried to mask it with a frown.
“You don’t have to.”
Almost immediately after those words left your lips, Hanbin responded with, “I want to,” and suddenly you couldn’t mask your smile anymore as you turned to start walking to your apartment. Hanbin followed suit with an even wider smile than he had before because he caught the smile you were trying to hide.
As you neared your apartment, your steps started to slow down. You stopped in front of your building, turning to face him. “This is where I get off,” you sighed.
“Well then, I guess this is goodbye,” Hanbin said, adding ‘soulmate’ at the end with a teasing tone and a light smirk.
You laughed, “See you tomorrow, soulmate.”
He smiled in response, “See you tomorrow.”
And as you entered your building, the memory of your hand in Hanbin’s still fresh in your mind, a blissful smile plastered itself onto your face as you thought back onto today’s events. This day was certainly not a normal day, but you were more than okay with that.
The one thing you were certain of was that you were definitely looking forward to what tomorrow would have in store.

Word count: 1,645 words
Warnings: none
A/N: Hi! I wrote this a few days ago and I hope you like it. Requests box is still open ^^
Tumblr media
(I do not own this gif, credits to ikonis)
“Come on (Y/N) you can’t stay like this forever.” Your friend said and rolled her eyes. “It has been like what?... three weeks? Since that little piece of…” you looked at her with a sad expression on your face. “That…guy broke up with you. Come on, let’s go clubbing or to Yunhyeong’s Café. You clearly need fresh air. Look at your skin all pale and those dark circles under your eyes. This is not you.”
She was right. You have been locked in your apartment for about three weeks but there was a reason behind this. Yes, you were dumped by your boyfriend…well, your fiancé. And it hurt you a lot, you were getting married in two months and suddenly he decided to dump you, just like that.
“It’s not you, it’s me.” Of course it was him and that freaking trip he really wanted to do. He met a girl, he liked her and he fell for her. You were dumped because at the end, you were not the love of his life as he used to say. Now you had this beautiful dress in your wardrobe, a party happening in two months and your friends has their bridesmaids dresses ready for something that it was not going to happen. Oh your friends, they spent so much money in those dresses.
“Girls, I’m going to sleep.” You announced and walked to your room.
“I don’t know about you girls, but I can’t see her become this…thing. I’m taking her out even if she doesn’t want to.”
“What’s the plan?”
                                                            + +
“I can’t believe I call you my friends.” You said looking at them still hesitating if you should go in or just go back home.
“It’s going to be fun. Trust me. We’ll just get some drinks and then we are leaving if you want to.”
You didn’t move so your friend dragged you into the club.
Instantaneously, the loud music filled your ears. People were dancing here and there holding glasses with colored drinks. At the back and upstairs there were some tables and lounges. One of your friends guided you through the crowd, to the lounge available right next to the restrooms. Nice.
“Where’s Hana?” you shouted and looked around but of course you couldn’t see her, there was so many people.
“She will be back, don’t worry.” You nodded and you both sat at the same time also taking your phones out of your purse.
Your looked around once again, now you were taking your time scanning the place. You had a nice view from where you were sitting since it was kind of an upper level but still in the first floor. You looked at your right side and saw a couple leaving and a group of six people taking the spot that was vacant next you. They all looked handsome and fancy, you know; the kind of guys that think they’re kind of deities and that stuff. You realized you were still looking at them when one of the guys waved at your direction taking you out of your thoughts. You blinked a few times and frowned. Then you scanned the guy; he was wearing a black stripped pants that fitted him perfectly and a white shirt.; his hair prettily messy.
He waved at you again.
“Yah, (Y/N)!” you friend called you so you turned. “Do you know him?”
“What?” you frowned.
“The guy just waved at you.”
“No, I don’t. Why?”
“Well, I don’t’ know. BECAUSE HE WAVED AT YOU.”
“Oh, that. I think I just stared at him for too long.” You said casually. Your friend didn’t say a word.
After a few minutes, Hana came back with a guy and four drinks. She was holding two glasses, and the other guy was holding the other ones.
“Hi.” Said the guy handing you a glass.
“What is this?” you asked the guy.
“I don’t know, she just asked me to give it to you.” He said and then sat next to Hana.
                                                           + +
“What. Have. We. Done?” asked Anna.
“Well, we help her with the depression she was in. That’s what we wanted, right?”
Both of your friends were watching you from their seats while you were dancing here and the, evidently drunk. People looked at you weirdly and then the move to another place. To be honest, you were being pretty annoying.
“Look.” Anna looked at the table next to yours. One of the guys stood up. He said something to his friends and then left them. “He is the guy who waved at (Y/N) before.”
“No way!” Hana hit Anna’s arm.
“Yah! That hur…Oh Lord.”
The guy that just stood up, was now walking towards you. Your friends were shook but they were not going to intervene unless he tried to do something bad.
                                                          + +
This morning you had a terrible hangover but after spending most of the morning on your bed, your friends agreed that it was time to go out and recover from last night.
“Let’s go to Yunhyeong’s Cafe, you need it.” Said Hana.
You nodded. Actually, for the first time in a while, you didn’t want to stay at home.
“I’m so thirsty.” You whined.
“Of course you are, girl. Do you have any idea of how much you drank last night?” you shook your head. “Well, you don’t wanna know though. Here.” Hana gave you a bottle of water.
After drinking the whole bottle of water in a matter of seconds, you three headed to the café. When you arrived, you sat close to the restrooms, just in case, you know. Yunhyeong welcomed you and handed you the menu.
“I’ll be back in a few minutes to take your order, girls.” He said, and then he stopped in another table.
“I feel terrible.” You whined and laid your head on the table. “I feel nauseous and this headache is slowly killing me.” Hanna caressed your hair.
“But what a great night, huh?” Anna smiled funnily.
“Tell me, did I do something I shouldn’t have done?” You sat straight and turn your head to the front door when you heard many voices; voices that made the headache unbearable. “Why are they being so noisy?”
“Oh Gosh.” Hana and Anna said at the same time also looking at the guys just entered the café.
Yunhyeong came back to your table and took your order. “Is she okay?” Hana giggled.
“She drank so much last night; she has a hangover” your friend explained. Yunhyeong looked surprised but didn’t say a word about that.
You sat there and drank your coffees. Your friends were talking about last night but you just wanted them to shut up, every little noise was annoying for you. You threw your head back and tried to remember what happened last night but you just had flashes which didn’t help that much. You remember being with your friends, then you were not with them anymore. Instead, you were dancing with a guy but you couldn’t remember his face, it was blurred. You just remembered he had a piercing on his left eyebrow, pretty sexy to be honest. You sat properly** but you felt dizzy and nauseous immediately because of the sudden move.
“Can you please, please, pretty please tell me what did I do last night? It’s driving me crazy.” You pouted.
“Hi.” You three turned to look at the guy standing in front of your table. Your friends couldn’t hide their shock and you couldn’t understand why. You frowned and looked at him. “Don’t you remember me? Were you that drunk?”
“Excuse me?” You said still confused. Who was thi... Woah.
“I can tell you remembered me.”
“I was dancing with you last night!” you said full of surprise and excitement.
“Well, (Y/N) I wouldn’t say you just danced last night.” You looked at Hanna with eyes wide open.
“Did I…”
“What? No! Of course not! You were drunk and I wouldn’t force someone to do something being in the conditions you were. You…you…well, you kissed me. Don’t you remember?” He giggled.
“Did I? I’m so sorry….”
“Bobby, my name’s Bobby.” He smiled.
“Bobby. I’m sorry, I don’t remember anything.” You excused yourself and looked at him sadly.
“Can we talk?”
Your friends looked at each other and then looked at you. They stood up from their chairs and said goodbye to you and Bobby leaving the both of you alone. You looked at Bobby and then you stared at the empty chair in front of you.
“Do you want to sit?” you asked and he nodded taking the chair where Anna was a few seconds ago. “Before you say anything, I really want to apologize for whatever I did last night.” You said. “I was drunk and my friends convinced me to go to that club and…gosh, I feel so embarrassed. I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable; I didn’t mean to.” You covered your face with both of your hands.
“Yah, it’s okay.” He said taking your hands off of your face. “I didn’t feel uncomfortable, if that’s what worries you the most.” He paused. “To be honest…I liked it.” A playful and shy smiled appeared on his lips. Cute. “I saw you were here and I really want to meet you. You seem to be a very funny person.” He giggled.
For the first time in a few years, someone new wanted to meet you, and maybe this was an opportunity to finally let go of your ex. Not something like trying to replace him but it was true, you needed to do something to forget about him and being at home was not precisely the best option. Maybe this boy sitting right in front of you will help you to keep yourself entertained with something else.
“I’m in.” you smiled.

morning routine
Pairing: song yunhyeong x reader
Summary: “That sight never gets old.”
The familiar blare of the alarm clock sounded throughout the room, which led to a hand reaching out from under the warm covers to shut it off. Yunhyeong let out a groan as he peeked from under to catch a glimpse of the time. It was about time he had to get up to go to the studio for practice. He had only an hour to spare.
He rolled back into bed and was met with the back of his partner. He softly smiled and leaned towards you, placing a gentle kiss on your cheek. Feeling the light touch, you stirred in your sleep and your face contorted into a frown as you slowly opened your eyes.
“Yunhyeong?” You mumbled, making the boy smile and kiss your cheek again.
“Good morning, my love.”
You smiled and wrapped your arms around his neck. You pulled him until his lips brushed against yours and you leaned up to kiss him.
“Good morning, handsome.”
Growing giddy, he nuzzled your neck as he hid his face there and gave you a squeeze. You turned on your side and held him in your arms, closing your eyes.
“Please tell me it’s not time to get up and we can stay in bed for an hour.”
“I’m afraid we can’t.”
“Why do you do this to me?” You groaned, making him laugh.
“Come on. We have to get up or else I’m going to be late.”
Yunhyeong pulled away to look at you and you let out a sigh. You puckered your lips and he leaned up to kiss you, making a big smooching sound when you pulled away. Your lips stayed the way they were and he continued to kiss you over and over.
“Ready?”
“No.”
Before he could reply, the door to your shared bedroom opened and in came your pets. Your cat and dog pounced onto the bed, then onto the two of you. You both laughed, letting them in on the sweet moment you and him shared.
“I feel like we have kids already with how they do this every morning,” You tiredly chuckled, looking at him through the small space between him and the animals. He looked right back at you and smiled.
“You know, I wouldn’t mind having human kids with you.”
Your eyes widened for a second before they soften and your cheeks turned bright red.
“It is too early for you to be cheesy, Yunhyeong.” You wiggled your finger as you pointed at him.
“It’s never too early for that, my love.”
He grabbed hold of your wrist and kissed your hand. You whined, betting that your cheeks were as red as a tomato.
“W-We have to get up, you know? Go shower and I’ll make breakfast.”
You huffed and leaned towards him to steal one more kiss. You then left him in the bed as you pushed away the covers to get up, your pets following after you. He couldn’t help but laugh at your embarrassment while he got up himself.
He went off to shower while you prepared breakfast for the both of you. You blasted his group’s songs and you could just imagine him getting embarrassed. That or he’s singing along like how you were doing in the kitchen. Seeing you in such high spirits, your dog was happily jumping up and down while your cat’s tail swayed back and forth.
“Breakfast is ready!” You yelled, setting everything up. Yunhyeong came running down and took in the sweet smell.
“Smells and looks delicious as always.”
“It’s just pancakes. It’s the simplest and most basic breakfast ever.”
“But still the greatest breakfast made by my partner.”
“You and your compliments.” You laughed and shook your head.
You made small talk with Yunhyeong while he was eating his food. He was right on time, so he took the time to just enjoy this moment with you.
You were about done with hooking the leash on your dog when his voice caught your attention. You looked up from your dog to your boyfriend, then stood up.
“Where’s the goodbye kiss? I can’t leave without getting a goodbye kiss from you.”
You smirked when his lips formed a pout. You grabbed onto the collar of his shirt and pulled him towards you. You gave him a passionate and sweet kiss, making a loud kissing noise when you pulled away. He softly smiled at you as a dazed look made its way onto his face. He clearly enjoyed it.
You giggled. “You’re going to be late, handsome.”
He groaned, debating whether he wanted to risk being late if it meant spending even just a moment more with you.
“You always make it so hard to leave you every morning.” He held your hands in his.
“I know, but just keep in mind that you’re returning to me every night.”
“That’s what keeps me going, honestly.” He let out a content sigh before sealing your lips in another kiss.
“You really have to get going before you’re late, Yunhyeong.”
He grumbled before grabbing his things. You walked him out to the porch as he threw his things into the car that had been waiting for him. You apologized to the driver for the usual tardiness and he only smiled, waving it off. Yunhyeong looked back at you and your pets one more time, waved and got into the car.
Your cat jumped onto your shoulders while your dog was stood beside you, tail wagging. You hugged yourself to protect yourself from the cold as you sent your partner off to work for the day.
It made Yunhyeong upset every morning when he had to leave the three of you. He wanted nothing more than to cuddle up with you and have the pets laying at your feet. Though, the familiar sight of seeing the three of you send him off every morning was endearing too.
He watched you wave for as long as he could before the sight of you was gone and he turned around in his seat. He closed his eyes and smiled as he shook his head.
“That sight never gets old.”

tears & raindrops mingle
Tumblr media
In which you bump into the CEO of a nearby bar when you are just as heart-broken as him, and it doesn’t seem to go well at first.
♦ Pairing: bar CEO!Yunhyeong x jewellery shop CEO!reader/you
♦ Genre: fluff, light angst
♦ Words: 4.1k
♦ Warning: mentions of cheating (on other characters’ parts)
♦  Dedicated to: @flora-jimin for the Spring Fic Exchange based on the spring rain prompt! I really hope you enjoy my story as I’ve really enjoyed writing it! 💖
Song Yunhyeong had the most horrifying day ever. It wasn't enough that he got to know that the girl who had been his girlfriend for 3 years and to whom he had proposed a month ago was with him only for his money. He even eavesdropped that she was planning to hijack the success of his business using his weakness (aka her) against him. She knew that he would do as much for her as he could do within his power, but he would have never thought that she would want to ruin the image of his bar by a scandal. She said that she would gladly be found humping with another man in Yunhyeong's office, caught by a gossip magazine's journalist who was hungry for any juicy details in the CEO's life.
The young man couldn't believe his ears. Where did it go wrong? Was she a traitor from the beginning? How could he not see it? It's true that Yuri and him had almost the same opinion of everything and had almost the same preferences but was it all for just to seduce him? Was it all fun for her? While he knew from the beginning that Yuri was nowhere near as rich as him, it never bothered him. He didn't have a say in which family he was born into and she didn't have a say in it either. So why? Why did she do it? Was she really that heartless? Was Yunhyeong that terrible at reading people?
He was raging, feeling like a volcano that could erupt anytime soon, as he walked down the corridor from his office to the security guards and IT guys' office, bursting in without knocking on the door first. Everyone assumed that he was in a bad mood if he wasn't being dead polite.
"Do not let Kang Yuri into the bar ever again! Not today. Not tomorrow. Never!" He yelled frantically, and his fervent reaction was enough for the guys to shut their mouths and don’t ask about the reason behind his command. He shot another glance at them before he turned on his heels and shut the door behind him, listening to the echoes while he walked down the corridor.
He pushed the emergency exit door with all his power as he stepped into the chilly midnight air. The moment he stood outside, he was showered by rain, but he didn't mind. He didn't mind that his expensive suit was about to get totally drenched, he didn't mind that he would look like a fool who got caught in the sudden downpour that was so common in spring. He didn't mind. He was used, he was betrayed, he was being played. He couldn't care anymore. He wasn't going to go home anyway; he needed some time to himself to decide on the least problematic and most peaceful way to end whatever was going on between him and Yuri. Even if she didn't deserve it.
While he was just standing there in the rain, inwardly enjoying being hit by the merciless raindrops, you bumped into him and murmured a quiet apology. No matter how gentle he usually was, he couldn't take it today.
"I don't think I've heard what you said," he blurted out coldly, the air becoming even chillier around him. The equally soaked you was about to walk away, then suddenly turned around to face him. You were examining him, eyebrows furrowed in question, looking all businessy in your black women's suits, stylish high heels and designer bag. You wore an expensive necklace that stuck to you like second skin due to the raindrops claiming their place on your exposed neck.
Yunhyeong had no idea if you were always this stern, fierce flames dancing in your eyes, or it was the situation that made you uncharacteristically frustrated.
"I've said I'm sorry," you repeated again, lips in a firm line. "There must be something wrong with your hearing." You fixed the bag on your shoulder as you shot him a glare and was about to turn around again if Yunhyeong's words wouldn't have stopped you.
"Are you really trying to play this game?"
"I wasn't the one who started this," you stated matter-of-factly, the dancing flames in your eyes starting a more fervent routine than before. You seemed unfazed by the rain that was pouring onto you, not caring about the condition of you expensive dress. Funny how you seemed all tight and rich (and annoying), yet you let your designer bag get soaked in the rain. Not to mention your perfectly braided hair.
"You bumped into me," he pointed out as he took a step closer to you. He didn't seem to intimidate you though. Maybe it's because you were as tall as him with your high heels, or maybe you had just enough pride in you not to be swayed by a man like him.
"That was accidental. Haven't you heard about accidents?" You got back at him immediately and took a step closer to him, so that you would be even closer to him, your faces only an inch away. Yunhyeong could hear the erratic beating of your heart and wondered if he had played a role in its state.
"Oh yes, I did. I certainly did." He nodded nonchalantly, bitterness scratching his throat. "I've accidentally eavesdropped a conversation today that made me realize that my fiancée's with me only for my money. You can tell that I don't like accidents," he confessed straightforwardly, not caring if you knew who he was or if you would pass on the news. He didn't care. After all, his fiancée has wanted to do something similar to him.
"Today, I've accidentally walked in on my best friend having sex with my boyfriend of four years whom I've thought would marry me soon. And if that's not enough, they did it in our apartman, on my birthday, before I was supposed to go out for dinner with him. So you can tell that I don't like accidents either," you told him without a blink of an eye, without being ashamed of the past events. It's not like Yunhyeong thought that you should be ashamed. After all, it wasn't you who had cheated on your boyfriend.
On the other hand, the fact that you got to know about it today and you seemed so composed surprised him. A lot. On top of that, he was convinced that boyfriend of yours must have been either completely dumb or just another chaebol who didn't care how much money he lost by such a scandal. If it was ever going to surface.
"You look like you need a drink," Yunhyeong said quite emotionlessly, even though his grudge against you wasn't so powerful anymore. He began to understand you a bit more.
"Oh yes, I do." You nodded, half-laughing and half-snorting.
"I'll buy you a drink."
It was a mere offer on his part. If anything, it was a kind one. He knew you both had your own hardships to deal with, so he assumed that a drink or two may come in handy for you. On the other hand, you didn't take his side.
"I don't need your pity."
"If not for your douchebag boyfriend, then for your birthday. I'm the CEO of Full Moon, and I would need a drinking buddy anyway. You can join or you can go home drinking alone." He shrugged, his vision getting blurry because of the raindrops that got into his eyes. The rain didn't bother him though, it felt like as if it was going to wash away all the events from the day, all the bad that had happened. Even though he knew a mere spring downpour couldn't solve his problems, at least it wasn't sunny to make him feel even worse.
You weren’t bothered either. You were standing fierce and tall, clothes getting soaked and hair looking like a lost girl’s.
"I'm not going home," you blurted out after a few seconds of complete silence, except the sound of rain.
"Exactly." Yunhyeong bobbed his head agreeingly, and waited a bit before he headed back to his own bar. He wasn't surprised when you followed him, it wasn't that hard to imagine after seeing the flames in your eyes that became more powerful when you declared that you wouldn't want to go home. Considering that you had mentioned having a shared apartment with your boyfriend, he could understand why you didn't want to go home.
So you did. You followed him into his bar, taking a seat on the black leather seat beside him, elbows resting on the cold surface of the wooden counter. You enjoyed the slight jazz music that was playing from the speakers, the dim light that illuminated only what was needed to be illuminated and the rest was left in mysterious darkness, the chic yet somewhat fitting design of the whole place, black and burgundy being the dominant colours. There were only a few people at this hour, but considering that Yunhyeong had introduced himself as the CEO of the bar, you weren’t afraid that you would find yourself outside the place because of closing hours.
He ordered himself a drink and so did you. You seriously needed something strong, hoping that the euphoria that the alcohol would bring would be enough to erase the picture of your best friend getting down on your boyfriend, or at least to help to ease the pain. Anything but to face the consequences.
"So did it happen to you today, too? Getting to know about your fiancée's true intentions?" You couldn’t help but ask since the young man himself seemed so easily annoyed by a simple act of carelessness on your part. He must have gotten to know about it lately or he must not have been over it yet.
"Yes." He nodded, an aghast sigh escaping his lips. "I wish it didn’t happen today though. I should have known about it before. I wouldn’t have proposed to her then," he explained, eyes staring far ahead, breathing more erratic than it should have been. You looked at this heartbroken young man and wondered if he was really that blind to not see the signs or his fiancée was that good of an actress. After all, you couldn’t see things coming your way either. Maybe you were both too lost in your own feelings that you didn’t catch up to what was going on around you. Maybe you both just wanted to be loved and feel loved.
"It’s still better that you got to know about it now than if it happened later," you pointed out with a tilt of your head, thinking of the consequences of a later revelation. They hadn’t gotten married yet, so at least he didn’t need to worry about that part if he decided to leave his fiancée for good.
"Maybe." He nodded hearing your words, and you could definitely feel the sorrow in his words. It soaked through his voice, his shirt, his actions. He was a heartbroken man, his confessions dripping rawness and desperation. No matter how much he tried to hide it, you could see the real man behind the mask, you noticed his intense gazes and momental daydreams.
You soon fell into a comfortable silence that only the light music from the speakers interrupted. Your drink was ready in no time, and the barista put down both your order and the man’s order at the same time. You exchanged a glance with the CEO as you reached for the glass.
"Cheers!" He said, holding up his shot of vodka.
"Cheers!" You emulated his actions and consumed the soju in one-go. You immediately felt the warmth spreading through your body, the alcohol making its way through your system. It wasn’t a very familiar feeling as you didn’t drink a lot. In fact, you only drank if it was socially required at parties or other events that were more about your money than you personally. Sometimes you really hated your life. Sometimes you were thankful that you could start your own business because you were born into a rich family. Sometimes you imagined being just an ordinary woman, sometimes you enjoyed the glamour. It was nothing new though; the chaebol life had always been ambivalent.
"Oh, and happy birthday!" The CEO added after he gulped down his own drink and visibly flinched when the taste hit in. You bobbed your head as a sign of gratitude.
"Maybe it’s not my day but it can be my year," you added with a bittersweet smile as you looked at him, his lips also curling upwards. It wasn’t a friendly smile though, it was more like an empathetic, an understanding one. It was genuine and raw, it was all you could have asked for in such a situation.
"You’re right. You deserve better."
You had no idea what to say. You didn’t even know each other, you had met half an hour ago, and he was already talking about you as if he had known you all your life. It was weird, this kind of act right at the beginning of your conversation when you were so used to people sugarcoating their words or outright lying to you, keeping their distance from you when they got to know who you were. He either didn’t care or didn’t know how it was supposed to be.
"You don’t even know me," you remarked rather confusedly, hoping that he wouldn’t take your words the wrong way. He didn’t though.
"No one should be cheated on," he mused out loud, keeping the eye-contact for another minute or so before he turned back to order another round. Then, he casually loosened his necktie and stared far ahead.
You assumed that you two had more in common that you would have previously thought, and this night was enough to prove you right. More than enough.
The next morning you woke up at the exact same spot you talked to Yunhyeong the day before. You probably dozed off after your fourth bottle of soju because you had no recollection after that, hence the location seemed fitting. You didn't mean to stay the night, you didn't even mean to drink so much, but through the shared sorrow and compassion somehow you found talking to the CEO quite enjoyable. He was a breath of fresh air after meeting so many lifeless, two-faced rich people you had the chance to encounter. He was intelligent, not the obvious one, not even the fake one, yet the way he connected the dots and looked at the world was saying it all. He was kind and considerate too, not the pushy type though, he had just the right amount of curiosity. He was also a lot kinder throughout the night than compared to the way you met. Maybe it was because you went through kind of the same, or maybe he was usually this kind. You didn't know, you knew only a tad bit about him.
When you opened your eyes, you needed a minute to realize where you were and why you were there.
You stood up, but you immediately knew that it was a horrible idea when you needed to hold onto the bar counter, so that you wouldn't fall down.
"Easy there," a familiar male voice suggested gently, yet you could detect a bit of amusement behind his words. You could already feel him smiling even without properly looking at him.
"I'm perfectly fine," you tried to reason as you turned around to face a perfectly sober Yunhyeong with a neatly ironed shirt and clean cotton pants. So you were the only one who got knocked out last night. Good to know.
"Your reflexes wouldn't say the same." He giggled to himself before his features became solemn again. You eyed each other for a few seconds before he made his way around you and got behind the counter, filling a glass with water. "Here. You must be dehydrated," he added while a faint smile was dancing along the edges of his mellow lips. You knew that he was right as your throat was as dry as a desert, yet you needed a moment before you reached for the glass to gulp down its content in one go.
You put it down with a satisfied sigh, and looked back at Yunhyeong.
"Thank you." You bobbed your head as a sign of gratitude, hoping that he wouldn’t expect too much of you in such a state. You wouldn’t say that you had a headache or that you were that hungover. However, you definitely felt the heaviness in your body and you were definitely thirsty like never before. You should have eaten the night before, too, you reckoned as your stomach growled loudly.
"Seems like someone’s hungry," the CEO commented with a lopsided smile that you wished you could swipe off his face. You weren’t used to such cheekiness, especially not from someone who was your age (as you had discussed that you were the same liners). Yet, there was something childishly innocent about his playful behaviour you couldn’t quite pinpoint. He had this duality, and you weren’t sure when to take him seriously and when not to.
"It’s okay." You shook your head. "I’ll grab something on the way to work," you declared as you looked at your watch and realized that it was time you headed out for work. Even though you were the owner of your very own jewellery shop, even though you could have come by any minute and you could have skipped any day without notifying anyone, you weren’t one to abandon what you’ve been working for years, and you were definitely not one to call in sick just because you had a drunk night.
"Are you sure you don’t want to eat here?" Yunhyeong inquired with a quirk of an eyebrow, but you nodded anyway.
"Yes, I’m sure. You’ve already done enough."
"It was nothing, really." The CEO shrugged like it was really nothing when it was more than you could have asked for. Even though it wasn’t intentional, at least you had somewhere to sleep, at least you didn’t need to face neither your boyfriend, nor your best friend, and at least Yunhyeong kept you company. Come to think of it, it wasn’t that bad of a night despite the horrible events that led you to the bar.
"Thank you, Yunhyeong," you repeated with a grateful smile for which the young man just shook his head.
"No problem. You can come by anytime," he offered with a soft smile, and you felt odd under his stare. Maybe it was because you were still very much affected by what happened the day before, or maybe it was because you had lost all faith in males, and there was this gentle young man showing you that not all guys were as much of an asshole as your boyfriend was. Or ex-boyfriend. Whatever. There was still something left to discuss with him.
"I will," you promised equally casually, and headed out of the bar with a lighter heart and a newfound acquaintance in the same district you had your own shop.
As both your shop and Yunhyeong's bar was on the same shopping street (which was said to be the most chic in Seoul), you didn't hesitate a lot when you finished with work in time, and didn't feel like going straight home. Yunhyeong even paid for your drinks every time you were there even if you insisted that you earned enough, so you could pay for your own order. When it came to business, he was as serious as no one you had met before, yet when he was off-work, he wasn't so stern. He joked around a lot and whined like a child even though he was already in his mid-twenties. He seemed like such a brat sometimes. He was also very enthusiastic and curious, so when you showed him around your shop for the first time, he looked around like Alice in Wonderland. It was odd seeing him among all those fancy rings and necklaces you were selling, and it was even more weird because he was a male. You didn't like stereotypes but males were rare to find in your shop.
Truth to be told, you weren't used to having a companion almost every day. You tried to be on good terms with your employees, but none of them were close to you. Not to mention your family. You didn't hate them, but you didn't even fancy spending time with them when it wasn't necessary. You were thankful for what you had, yet you had such different mentalities that it was difficult not to pick a fight with them whenever you spent time together.
With Yunhyeong, you weren't lonely even if you had just broken up with your boyfriend and had also lost contact with your best friend after what had happened. You knew that it was over, but you decided to give a chance for both of them to explain themselves, and it didn’t go well, to say the least. You ended up drinking at Full Moon yet again, complaining to Yunhyeong about what those two had dared to bring up as their excuses.
You didn’t keep count of the weeks and months that passed by because you were always looking forward to each and every day to meet Yunhyeong, to get to know him a bit more. Despite your initial dislike towards him, he turned out to a very gentle, attentive and incredibly funny young man, and soon your days became filled with his contagious laughter and self-made meals because the CEO loved nothing more than cooking.
This is how you actually ended up in his house one day after he had insisted that he would want to teach you how to cook one of his favourite meals. It was about half a year after your first encounter and also your first time to visit his house.
It was all going well as Yunhyeong was a very patient chef, and he didn’t make you feel completely useless even though he did most of the actual work. You weren’t a kitchen fairy, but you’ve tried your best, and worked as diligently as you would do at your own shop. It wasn’t until a careless turn on your part and his closeness that the atmosphere became somewhat awkward. You had just turned around to look at him and ask what else you could do, but he was already behind you, so you practically bumped into him and almost lost balance but he caught you in time. He grabbed you by the waist, and even when he could see for himself that you were stable, he didn’t let you go. You didn’t care though. You were more focused on his face. To be precise, on his eyes.
You didn’t even dare to look away, you didn’t feel like you knew how to do so. You were mesmerized, stuck in the moment, in the fantasy world that the situation created. You had never been this close to Yunhyeong ever before, and the close proximity did odd things to the state of your heart. You found it difficult to breathe properly, and your lips were parted because you were about to say something, yet nothing seemed right.
Then it happened. All of a sudden, only for a moment, your lips touched his, and you were even more mesmerized than before. However, your rational part made you back away and apologize immediately.
"I’m sorry. I really didn’t…" You started immediately but he cut you off.
"It’s okay, it’s really okay." He shook his head, then a lopsided grin started stretching on his lips. "I was just about to ask if it’s okay if I kiss you," he added with a nervous giggle and sheepishly scratched his temple.
You were so shocked than you didn’t even know what to say for the next few seconds. Your heart was racing so wildly that you were afraid that you would have a heart attack soon. Luckily, Yunhyeong saved you.
"Then, it’s my turn next," he declared as he hovered over you and waited for you to push him away, to reject him. Needless to say, you did neither, and so he kissed you while you could feel him smiling to himself. You did the same as him, your insides melting.
What an interesting turn of events when it all started with an innocent little cooking session.
