hmm vacation with bf! jk!! 🥰
i wrote this while rewatching in the soop, so that’s the inspiration
♡the idea of flying somewhere is cute, but going on a road trip would be 🥺🥺
♡you pack the day before and ask jungkook to fold your t shirts because you still can’t figure out the sorcery he applies to their cotton. he chuckles at the sight of your awe
♡you baked the monster cookies your mother used to make for family road trips. the aroma filled your apartment and brought tears to your eyes. nearly two decades have passed since you last enjoyed them
♡you leave around 1am, drive through the night, and roll the window down to watch the stars. he ruffles your hair, cooing over your cuteness and love for the night sky
♡as 4am approaches, he tells you to sleep, but you’re worried “my job’s to keep you awake” “i’ll wake you up if i’m feeling tired. how does that sound?”
♡instead, you’re woken at 9am because he stopped for snacks, understandably so. your monster cookies are far from what he’s craving
♡you drive for a while so he can eat, and jungkook is quick to take control of the music. you miss his adoring smile while admiring you in the driver's seat and tracing the moles on your skin with his eyes. your entire body relaxes as his melodious voice fills your ear. “the first time you sang for me, i fell asleep in your living room.” “i remember that. knew i loved you then.”
♡talking about anything and everything. topics you never expected to land on come up, and your heart skips a beat when jungkook mentions engagement rings, wondering what diamond cut is your favorite, guessing correctly that you want a colored stone
♡the first week of your vacation will be spent in the countryside as jungkook has spoken so highly of his time there with his members. you naturally wanted to experience it too
♡after settling in and unpacking, the two of you walk to the small town to buy groceries for the week
♡you crouch down outside the shop to greet a cat with a reverberating purr. you could spend hours in that very position, admiring the furry friend with kind eyes and grey coloring, approaching a trance of comfort when jungkook calls your name
♡it rains that afternoon. the two of you sit out on the front porch; your head rests comfortably on jungkook’s shoulder. the serene quiet is interrupted when you ask what he’s thinking about. you’re curious what it’s like for him to be still. you’ve asked before, but the fascination finds you again. your curiosity lingers before blooming like floral spring
♡spreading a blanket out on the cool grass that evening after dinner, listening to the sounds of little critters drowned out by the city’s loudness and apartment living
♡falling asleep after a glass of wine— you’re a lightweight, but jungkook wakes you up because he knows how you feel about brushing your teeth before bed
♡jungkook wakes up so early, and you find him shirtless on the dock painting the view. you sit behind him and wrap your arms around his waist, resting your cheek against his bare back. his fingertips brush your hand. you kiss his skin
♡you brought ingredients for hot chocolate and start your day with its sweetness instead of your usual coffee while jungkook looks through the fridge and sings the options
♡going on walks together, loving the breeze and the way it collects the aromas of wildflowers, rich dirt, and the subtle notes of jungkook’s body wash
♡playing twenty questions and giggling whenever one of you catches a subtle lie from the other. eventually, one of you slips and misses a skewed detail “the only punishment i can think of is doing the dishes, but you love to.”
♡you brought your most prized possession: a vintage polaroid (and a new scrapbook). hours of the trip were spent creating a book of vacation memories with handwritten notes and cute stickers from the bottom of your bag
♡a sentimental conversation late at night, talking about recent battles with anxiety because sometimes reality crashes down on you so hard, but it’s damage is swallowed by the fast pace of life until you slow down again
♡tracing morning dew on the bedroom window while your opposite hand smooths the soft strands of his hair. jungkook’s cheek is pressed into the pillow. his lips are parted. you begin to hum as the rain starts again, feeling peaceful, hoping it stays, and knowing it will as long as he’s with you
♡watching movies in the living room you haven’t seen in ages, singing tunes, and playfully showing off remembered choreography from your youth choir’s performance of under the sea
♡packing your things. seven days passed in a blink, but the city you're soon to meet makes it easier to leave. "goodbye house. goodbye fireflies. goodbye clear sky. i'll see you again soon beyond the clouds."

Hi @vampryoteuthis happy (feb 20) valentine's day!! I was your secret valentine for @valensemblestars. I hope you enjoy this kurokei!
Rating: General Pairing: Kuro/Keito Words: 904 2/3 of Akatsuki goes to review a maid cafe.
“– and I still cannot believe we were asked to do this. Our radio appearances are always so serious, if this was the topic the producers had in mind, why didn’t they ask for Ra*bits? It seems to me like they would be much more suitable reviewers – really, a maid café of all places –”
“Hasumi, quit workin’ yourself into a frenzy. We’ve reviewed restaurants before, just treat it like that.”
“Kiryu, we’re not just reviewing the food, we’re reviewing their Year of the Dragon promotion as a whole. That means analyzing the theming, including any merchandise and… special dialogue lines…”
“Relax, if you’re too nervous to talk to the maids, I can do it.” Kuro chuckled.
“You know that’s not the issue.”
The sight of a chalkboard sign with a cardstock dragon wrapped around it signaled that they had found the café. Bright red lanterns hung across the awning, and the sign listing the hours was bookended by drawings of maids performing dragon dances. How cute.
Still, Keito never imagined he’d be paid to go to a maid café with his boyfriend. He hesitated to open the door, but steeled himself and pushed.
The doorbell chimed as the two walked through the doorway. The interior was decked out in red and gold streamers, lanterns, and other decorations, but the original pink was almost made it feel more Valentines-themed.
That is, except for the dragons.
Several of the side booths were ‘guarded’ by large dragon cutouts, providing more privacy to the patrons that sat behind them. A maid exited one of the booths, swinging open the dragons’ front claws like saloon doors.
“Welcome to Café Tsukikoro, where we send you to the moon and back! Do you have a reservation?” She was hamming it up a little too much for having just opened, but nonetheless, she seemed so excited that you couldn’t help but find it cute. Keito was reminded of Mitsuru’s boundless energy.
“Err… Yamada, 9am.” Kiryu was quick on the draw. They were booked under one of the producers’ names so as not to telegraph their arrival.
“Right this way sirs! Oh, and I see you’ve requested a dragon booth.” She picked up a few menus from the stack and motioned for them to follow her.
Sliding into the booth, Keito noticed that the seat was only about one and a half people wide. Clearly intended for couples. He could pretend this was just a date he didn’t plan, he supposed.
“Can I get you some drinks to start?” the hostess asked.
Keito glanced at the drink options. “Sure, I’ll have a hot green tea.”
“Uh, the same, thanks.”
“We’ll have those right out for you! In the meantime, feel free to enjoy an activity page,” she motioned toward the coloring pages by the sugar packets and left the booth.
“You should draw something, danna. Gotta review the crayons anyway,” Kuro suggested as he picked up one of the pages. It had a line drawing of a dragon holding the moon like a ball.
Keito sighed. “There’s really not much to review here. I think the owners just purchased bulk dragon décor and called it a day.” He decided to humor Kuro by swatching the red crayon on the dragon. It applied a bit more smoothly than he expected, and he considered coloring more, but put the crayon back down.
“Yer selling the place short, Hasumi. I don’t think you can just buy these dragon doors – these gotta be custom made.” Kuro gave the door a slight push to watch it swing back and forth.
“I suppose I was a little harsh, yes. I just – you don’t feel patronized at all?” Keito fiddled with the crayon still in his hands.
“Not really, no. Everything’s colorful and a little bright, but that’s not a bad thing. Reminds me of what my sister liked a few years ago, actually. She probably would’ve liked this place.” Kuro smiled slightly.
“I don’t know, Kiryu. We’re two grown men about to order dragon parfaits – because we’re being paid to do that, maybe, but still – and fill out coloring pages, and ask for the ‘lunar blessing’ on the parfaits, and – look, I know I’m a little bit hypocritical here because I basically breathe manga, but I feel like a child –”
“Danna.” Kuro took each of Keito’s hands in his two larger, warmer ones. “If you’re a child, you’re the only child I know that meets with high-up business executives. I like seeing you relax and have fun. So promise me ya won’t worry so much today.”
Keito ran his fingers over Kuro’s palms. His partner always knew how to make him feel better. “Sure, Kiryu. Just for now.”
They held hands for a few moments longer until a maid returned to their table. Unlike the hostess, she was wearing a headband with dragon horns, and her dress had a red dragon-scale pattern.
“Here are your drinks, masters~ Will you be ordering any food today?”
“Yes, two limited-time dragon parfaits please,” Keito replied, handing the menus back.
“Coming right out!” She disappeared into the kitchen, her skirt flouncing as she walked.
Kuro seemed to be staring after her, and Keito was about to say something until the redhead spoke up first.
“Y’know, Danna… you’d look really cute in one of those dresses.”
“Kiryu! I’d never – well –” he paused. “Maybe if you made it. And only for you.”

This is a petition for Australian education to incorporate hybrid learning. Please sign and share if you can!
As a bit of a rant...
I'm currently in a migraine episode that's lasted upwards of 5 days, which is really frustrating since I haven't had one this bad in years. My chronic migraines were becoming less chronic.
This semester, two of my classes are in-person classes and start at 9am. As you can imagine, this is a struggle for someone (read: me) who has chronic fatigue and has ✨migraines✨. Waking up and travelling uses up my energy so by the time I make it to class, I'm half-drained and cannot focus properly on what's discussed.
I thrived in the pandemic, when I was "stuck" with only online options. If I had a migraine, I could still manage it and try and go to classes because they were online, and I didn't have to look at the screen, and I could adjust the volume. I didn't even have to speak if my fatigue was acting up - I could use the chat. And I had time to spend with my family because my energy hadn't been used up travelling, studying, and focusing in class. I was enjoying learning. I could take up hobbies in crafting and journaling.
Now, I barely have the time and energy to go out for a lunch with my family. I have to carefully schedule my days to try to avoid overextending and landing myself with a migraine. I still managed to overextend myself and have ended up with a migraine anyway. I'm behind on classwork and assignments because of this migraine episode. I don't want to miss further classes, but I cannot travel right now. I'm lucky this is a low enough level that I can even look at a digital screen. I'm exhausted. It isn't even halfway through the semester.
Please. Sign the petition and share it.

BASED ON A TRUE STORY is a series of fics inspired by actual experiences of mine and others. Sometimes the ending changes, sometimes it doesn’t. Some of these fics will have multiple ending options, some of them won’t. This is to celebrate my most recent milestone, so thank you everyone and I hope you enjoy! I tried to do a wide variety of popular characters so that everyone could vibe but I only have so many stories to tell. So it’s three characters per fandom I write for.

[KUROO TETSURO] THE WEEK IN CALIFORNIA
Befriending Kuroo Tetsuro had been an accident, and ending up on the same trip to California with him had been a coincidence. Hopefully a happy one seeing as Y/N had been in love with him since their first year at Nekoma.
[SUGAWARA KOUSHI] THREE TIMES HE ASKED YOU OUT THE ONE TIME YOU SAID YES
No matter how many times he asks Y/N out, Y/N never seems to understand he’s very serious about his request or asking as something more than friends. Until one day, she agrees.
[TSUKISHIMA KEI] TIK TOK TELLS
It’s 3:03AM exactly when Y/N sees the tik tok, it’s meant to tell people signs that boys like them. One of them happened to be when a boy gives you his jacket, and for some reason Y/N thinks back to the time Tsukishima Kei relentlessly offered his jacket to her on a cold day— and she’d rejected his offer repetitively.

[SHOUTO TODOROKI] THE TIME YOUR DAD PUT A HIT OUT ON ME
So... Endeavor really didn’t approve.
[SHINSOU HITOSHI] BLACK COFFEE
Everyday without fail, the strange purple haired boy enters the bakery at 9AM to purchase a black coffee. And everyday without fail, Y/N convinces their mom to give up her spot at the register just so that she can ring him up herself.
[BAKUGOU KATSUKI & SHOUTO TODOROKI] THE WEDNESDAY EVERYTHING CHANGED
Nobody knew that Y/N L/N and Shouto Todoroki dated, that’s probably why Bakugou Katsuki ended up confessing about three months after they broke up. Right in front of Shouto.
[ENDING 1] ——— [ENDING 2]
Tumblr media
[SOKKA] THE FIRST WEEK
Sokka has only known Y/N for a week but he’s already decided that he likes her quite a bit, only to be friendzoned because this seems pretty impossible to her.
[KORRA] THE WRONG & RIGHT TIME
Korra has no shame telling Y/N on the roof of the Air Temple that she was practically in love with her not to long ago. This is a shame because Y/N didn’t feel the same then, but she sure did now.
[ZUKO?] THE TIME MY WEDDING WENT TO SH*T
It took planning a whole wedding just for it to get cancelled for Zuko to realize that he wasn’t even in love with his Fianceé. He was, however, in love with his childhood best friend Y/N L/N.

Got a couple of questions from the Artist Ask Game I reblogged a bit ago from someone who asked to be anon-ized! (So, if you're shy, that is an option! I'll still know who you are, but the world doesn't have to.)
25. Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by.
I feel like maybe I'm lucky that this hasn't happened in awhile or in ways that bothered me often, haha! But back in college I remember getting pretty salty about this happening once and so that stuck with me. During constructive criticism time, someone's sole comment on my work for one assignment was that it looked Tim Burton-y.
In that it had goth theme matter and some stripes and some lurid colors, sure, I guess? If Burton was your only other exposure to spooky themed art by nerdy goths. In an animation-related class in art school. I think Burton and I shared some inspirational overlaps in a fondness for German Expressionism and 1960's Hammer films, but stylistically, Burton's aesthetic tends to play with odd proportions and distorted forms far more than my work did (or does). If I had been drawing inspiration from Burton and had intended to do a Burton-esque piece, I would have tried to include those traits and not stuck with an approximation of my own style and a late 60s/early 70's palette.
Also, as constructive criticism, this was not helpful. It was clear from the tone that she was dismissive of my piece based on it's "Burton-esque" qualities, but she didn't come out and say anything useful. Did she hate Burton, but begrudgingly agree that Technicolor goth was working for my spooky scene? Did she think this perceived Burton-esque style was holding back my piece? Impossible to tell.
I managed to dig up the file, but given that this was for a class in Illustrator and Flash (neither of which I ever got comfortable or good at using, lmao) and I don't have either of those programs now, it got a little mangled when I asked Photoshop to open it. But I think we can all agree: not particularly Tim Burton-y!
Tumblr media
(please don't ever ask me to use Illustrator or Flash again. I will cry. the only part I enjoyed about this project was picking music and sound effects...and jumpscaring my class at 9am in the morning.)
26. What’s a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended.
Hmm...again a benefit of being relatively obscure on the internet means that I rarely get people projecting wildly on my art. And also, if it matters how things are interpreted, I will usually include that in my comments or descriptions below a piece. I'm sure it's happened! But apparently I am less bothered by that than by uselessly-framed dubiously-constructive criticism comparing me to Tim Burton, so I recall nothing right now.
I'll pivot this to writing and tell you about the wildest feedback I ever got.
I took a short story writing class waaaaay back when I was in community college in my hometown. It was very much full of the community. Our big assignment was a short story which the class would read, write comments on, and discuss in class. I wrote a version of the fairy tale "The Fisherman and His Wife" about an aspiring artist with an ambitious wife. Rather than a fish, our protagonist meets a strange being in his dreams and helps this being out, because to the being, the dangers in dreams are real. In thanks, the being grants the artist inspiration and success in the real world. Like in the fairy tale this escalates and things get weirder and weirder in the dreamscape, until the mysterious being gets fed up and punishes the artist and his wife.
After class, one of my classmates, an older woman, approached me, convinced that I did "dreamwork" to have written of lucid dreaming and the weird symbolism of dreams so well. I tried my best to accept this as a compliment. But lady, where ever you are, I was and always have been just a weirdo who loves using dreams as an excuse to go wild with surreal almost-logic and weird descriptions and symbolic landscapes.
I think this was the first time in my life where I was really sharing work with strangers and having strangers come to conclusions about me based on my writing and so it felt and feels bigger than it is.
And while I'm not upset about this conclusion being drawn and can definitely understand that this lady was excited to discover I had written something that resonated so strongly with her passions that she assumed I shared them....it did feel kinda weird and put me in a weird position to have her approach me assuming I did dreamwork rather expressing that it reminded her of dreamwork and asking me if was into such things.
Heh, both of these questions kinda made me think of situations where people made an assumption about me and my work and acted on that, rather than leaving me any space to explain or discuss. Very....
Tumblr media
Anyway! That was a lot of words! It turns out, I am very verbose! Feel free to scroll way back to the beginning to find that link to the Artist Ask Game to ask me more questions and see if I can stay on topic!

Two Bear Day!
We woke to clear, blue skies with just a little mist on the water.  The other couple cleared out early, but we took our time drying our tents in the sun while we had breakfast.
We’ve got our two people Big Agnes tent along that I think of as “quick drying,” but in reality it’s 10 years old this summer and doesn’t quite perform the way I’d recalled from our 2013 bike trip.  This tent has seen a lot of dew filled mornings and rain storms!
By 9am we were headed out and the day warmed up fast.  We were hiking along the trail back towards Lake Elizabeth.  Due to the change in our itinerary, we’re going to repeat hike a large portion three times in three days, but it’s all so beautiful we’re okay with that.  We were hiking along in a fairly tight line, telling Todd about how Dan generally writes a poem to sum up each adventure we do together.  We were hiking along brainstorming rhymes, when all of a sudden Todd stopped and quietly told us to step off the trail to the right.  He’d spotted a black bear coming down the trail towards us.  He said “Hey Bear,” and then we heard “Hey Bear” from up the trail.  I’d stepped off the trail as instructed, but of course, I also wanted to get a photo of the bear!  Jeff had been behind me, and he came around to be between me and the bear - nice to have a protector!  The bear, kind of boxed in by hikers in front and behind, ran off into the woods.  I got a grainy photo as I tried to lean out around Todd.  It was exciting, but also felt kind of like a relief that the bear behaved just as the videos said it would if we talked to it gently and moved off the trail.  The guys coming up the trail said they’d been following it at a “safe” distance for awhile, talking to it, but it just kept moseying down the trail until it came to us!
Shortly after that, we encountered Ranger Laura Funk and had a nice conversation with her for a while.  Todd asked her about the bear occurrence at the Lake Mokwanis camp:  she told us it was actually a work group camped there, and while they were out of camp working, a bear chewed their water filter and ripped into one of their tents.  To be sure, they’ve closed the camp and brought in a bear specialist to ensure there isn’t a problem bear in the area.  That really got me thinking about how important it is to keep the food and sleeping areas separate in the camp, yet you also have to hope that the people there the night before and the weeks before followed the same rules!
We crossed the river again, then as we approached the a swinging bridge, we saw a “mule train” fording the Belly River.  The Mule Train is a wrangler on a horse, with a chain of 3-5 mules hauling gear for staff working on trails and camps.  A bit different than the mule trains we’d seen in Peru, but pretty cool just the same!
Todd gave us the option to leave our packs with him while he prepared lunch, and walk down to the base of Dawn Mist falls to enjoy it from another viewpoint.  I changed from my boots into my Chacos and waded in the waterfall pond.  It was cold, but the day was very warm!  Tam had her swimsuit under her clothes and immersed more than her feet!  Lunch was cheese, sausage and crackers.  Yum.  It was close to what we’d have as “trail lunch” when I went to camp (we also had hunks of dark chocolate and peanut butter to supplement sausage, cheese and rye crisp crackers).
As we walked back towards Lake Elizabeth foot camp, we met the group of 4 from Missoula that we’d camped with Monday night, and shortly after that, the three guys from Colorado we’d met that same rainy night!  We took a pack off break at the beach, then walked along the lake to Elizabeth head camp (not as nice of a site).  It was great to walk along the lake - sometimes at beach level, then we’d climb up higher into the wild flower meadows.  I really marveled at the beauty of these pristine lakes.  How privileged we are to see them up close, and how fortunate that our fore fathers saved them from commercial development.
We headed away from the lake, as soon Todd said quietly “just wait here for a second.”  Lynn and Kent were behind him, and I was behind them.  Apparently, we’d come upon a smallish black bear heading up the trail just ahead of us.  I couldn’t see the bear, but he’d have us wait, then he’d have us come forward quietly, while he kept on talking to the bear (suggesting he get off the trail!).  He’d have us get off the trail just in case the bear startled and ran backwards.  Finally, the bear ran off into the woods and he had us walk forward.  We looked back and saw the little guy standing by a fallen tree.  As we continued to hike, those in the back kept looking over their shoulders.  It felt good to have two black bear encounters that went so well.  Still don’t want to encounter a grizzly though!!
We had a bit of a push to get up to Lake Helen and I was really dragging!  The scenery was changing, getting more rugged and we spotted mountain goats up high again - cruising along the rock face!
Another great waterfall as we approached Helen Lake.  At 11 miles and out of water, I was stumbling and glad to be at camp.  I’ll appreciate the view better tomorrow on our way back down!
This is the smallest camp we’ll stay in - just two tent sites and a food prep area.  Todd had told us another highlight of this site was the toilet without walls, and a great view of a hanging glacier!  We got our tent set up and I headed down the toilet trail only to find a robust Hoary Marmot living next to the toilet!  I called Todd to help me chase his away but he was a persistent little bugger!
This is a gorgeous camp, a beautiful lake surrounded by towering mountains.  After we were settled in, a couple and their teenage son came up - day hikers from Lake Elizabeth.  They stayed at the lake while we ate dinner, then the mom whipped up their dinner and they ate there before hiking back (seemed kind of late to me!).  Our dinner was walking tacos - delicious, but a margarita would have been fantastic.  After clean up, Jeff and I sat by the lake for a bit, but we were exhausted and turned in well before sunset!
11 miles, 958 ft elevation gain, 7 hours

I didnt even finish my last entry bc i got stoned and forgot.
Hi. So, it is currently 3:16 in the morning. Well now its 3:17... dude my fuckin brain will focus on one thing only sometimes. What the fuck type dumb ass would i be if i used this entire entry to tell what time it was every time the clock changed. I could really see myself doing that lol. Well, here i am.. up at now... 3:18 😂 I have to open the store tomorrow at 9am. gotta be there 30 min early. (i tell myself that atleast but never do it.) Ill do it, im currently contimplating whether or not i want to just pull an all nighter in hopes that it will reset my sleep schedule because recently i havent been able to get to sleep like a normal person. I swear i get home and sit on the couch and my brain is dead. i cant move. i cant think of things that i need to get done around the house. BUT as soon as my fat ass head hits the pillow... its a mile a SECOND bro. we arnt going by minutes over here. We are on seconds, WE ARE STRUGGLING. But, i will say... the beginning of this year. i have enjoyed myself. i have told myself that i am going to seperate myself from my married life. GRANIT, i AM very much aware that my official married life is VERY new. Howwwwwever, i feel that i have been "married" to this man for many moons. We are just legal now. but i have seen myself become him, hes a great guy. but i am my own person. Now, one thing i told myself i am not going to do is try to become the person i was when i first met him. that person was 17. she was immature. she was broken. she was feral. this girl is still going to be feral. but she is going to be strong, physically and mentally. she is going to take time for herself. she is going to be selfish. she is going to stop blaming herself for not getting things done in a timely manner. I will say recently i have thought about asking my mother to go to therapy with me. i kind of want couples counseling with her. i dont want to have a horrible relationship with her but i feel that when ever i finally move out i wil make sure i dont call. i will make sure i dont come around. but i fear that if i were to ask her to do that with me she would look at me funny and then make me feel awful for even thinking of the idea. I am quite proud of myself here recently. i have started up going to the gym. now i have been having my life long best friend go with me who has been a social crutch because i feel that i would not be able to push myself easily with out him there. but i will get to that point. dont get me wrong i have times where i think that i am pretty. but lets get this straight, i do not care how many body positivity posts you see on the internet when you are creating your avatar for a game or online profile you are not willingly choosing to make your character fat. nobody willingly chooses to be fat. i am self aware that i am never going to be an instagram model. i dont want to be. i dont want to be stared at or be the center of attention. if i was still 17 it would be a different story, that girl is dead. but i have a goal to be comfortable. and feel a little more confident than i do now. i do have one huge fear about losing weight and that is SKIN. i dont want to have random flaps just flapping everywhere. i am horrified of that. but i guess there is always surgery for that. i am not opposed to cosmetic work, i do have my lips done and plan on getting botox or whatever that more earthy option is called. whatever my cosmetic surgeon recommends i absolutely love her. anyways. i think this one is just to ramble i dont really have anything that i want to try to reason with myself on or vent or explain. im just talking, trying to figure out how i am going to handle tomorrow lol. oh by the way its 3:31😘

I love Christmas for so many reasons. But most of all because of the smile it puts on my son Sebby’s face. But there’s another great thing about Christmas. School performances. Primary school nativities. High school concert extravaganzas. Even just singing a few carols. All of these things can spark something inside a young person. School plays are often where some of the biggest stars of our screens first discovered their love of acting. So if you (or your child, if you’re a parent) have had a part in a play and found that you enjoyed it, why not take it further? There are so many reasons for a young person to get into acting. It builds those characteristics that are so highly prized. Personal qualities such as confidence, resilience, empathy and work ethic. But also life skills that’ll help you no matter what route you go down later in life - things like communication, presentation, creative and critical thinking, and responding to feedback. It’s something to focus on, something that makes you special and helps you discover who you are as you explore different characters and stories. And yes, IT IS a viable career option. Of course, I’m not saying everyone who’s been in a school play will become a professional actor, BUT… …with the growth of new forms of media, it’s never been easier to make a good living from acting. And even if you don’t get that far with it. IT’S FUN. It’s DEFINITELY a better way to spend your evenings than sitting on your sofa playing Roblox. So give it a go? A real go. Not just in your Christmas performances. Because I’m giving you the chance to try out a REAL acting class in January. And it won’t cost you a penny. You have nothing to lose and lots to gain. There will be no pressure and it’s designed to give you an enjoyable taste of what life’s like as an actor. Dear Future Husband,
I was supposed to write to you a couple of days ago but I was having a case of proluctance. Not that I'm not in the right state of mind but rather I just thought of updating you after this long weekend instead. I want to start with the Greenbelt story because what I will tell you next was triggered from a core memory when my family and I went to Greenbelt again after such a long time.
When I was still working in Manila back in 2016, I will go to Greenbelt to meet with my best friend after my work shift. My work shift then was at 4am to 9am. Sometimes up to 10am since I was working at my family's retail/wholesale meat shop business.
I was already experiencing a quarter life crisis and was finding more meaning into what I was doing. I didn't feel wholeheartedly connected to our family business no matter how much I tried. In short, I didn't see myself doing what I was doing anymore because I wanted more. A certain guy friend messaged me to ask me how I was out of nowhere and invited to meet me so he can give an advice and just to catch up personally.
That very guy who invited me was a guy I had a huge crush on during college. Yes, he was a college batch mate and he was way out of my league. My usual type — tall, dark, handsome, and kind. I never made a move on that particular crush. I just admired him from afar and eventually he just turned into one of my happy crush eye candies. So even with no sleep after my work shift, I met with this college crush of mine that I will name Constantine. Constantine and I would meet at Greenbelt and at that time it felt like a date almost because we met each other twice and even prayed together out of those two meetings. I got to know him better and I appreciated him more. And out of those two meetings, he also introduced me to a possible venture that I might be interested in. He even gave me samples to try. After telling him that I need to rethink my decision about the possible venture, we never met again.
Why I'm sharing you this story is not even remotely close to making you jealous. Remembering this story and sharing you this story made me realize that I have to start believing. Because if I had an unbelievable once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet and spend time with the guy who I thought was already out of my league, then I better believe and have faith TWICE AS HARD that I'm going to meet you too. I also want you to know that when I do, I will not make you feel as though that you're just a check mark on my list. When I meet you, I will take care of you and your heart in the best way I know how.
During the long weekend, I couldn't stop thinking about you. Especially because of Halloween too. I'm guilty of already imagining how we would dress up together as a cute couple in an epic duo Halloween costume. Now that I am watching HIMYM, we definitely should pull off that slutty pumpkin and bingo card bit or anything that could reference the show. Or if you are a FRIENDS fan like me, you could be an Easter bunny and I could be a cat woman. Or I can also dress up from one of your favorite game, movies, or series character too. Just let me know and I'll do my best effort to wing it. Whichever of these options because I'll be 1000% down! Damn, my mind is already speeding up ahead 10 years from now with our kids while wearing our best family Halloween costume — enjoying and trick or treating around our neighborhood.
I wish I had a clock that can tell me how many more seconds, days, weeks, or years I have to wait for me to finally see and meet you. Because I would see a stranger in a crowd and would feel drawn to that stranger. I would stare at a back view of a random guy's head and anticipate that with just one swift look, that man could be you. My heart aches each time I see couples who are holding hands, hoping and wishing I could have a sense of what they have or what it feels like to hold yours — here and now. I wish I could easily recognize you from your speaking voice or just from a blurred sight of your visage.
How long will I have to endure this agony of waiting? But no matter how long, know that I love you.
Visit and tell me in my dreams,
Your Future Wife

Location: 186 Waterside, Peartree Bridge, Milton Keynes MK6 3BX The wings are worth a try from here too – I recommend the Chipotle & Lime or the Honey & Garlic. They haven’t quite nailed the chips yet, so skip them, but with the size of these burgers, you won’t need them! It features two 6oz patties, caramelised onions, quad cheese, maple beef bacon, strawberry jam, house mayo and relish. The Big Ahki is good too, though if you’re not a fan of a sweet burger, this won’t be for you. It features a 6oz patty stuffed with melted Gouda cheese, caramelised onions, double cheese, gherkin, house mayo and relish. I’m pleased to say it was good enough to make the cut for my burger guide! The Juicy Lucy (pictured below on the right) is my top pick. The reviews have been rave, so I was very much looking forward to trying it out for myself. For other allergies, please contact The Cross Keys directly.įive Ahki’s opened towards the end of 2020 and has caused quite a stir in MK.

In fact, Dan and I both dream about it quite often. This is one of my all-time favourite burgers. It won Best Street Food Vendor at the MK Food Awards in 2018 for a reason! I make no secret of my absolute adoration of Bandit Street Food. If you do see an error or something is incorrect, please contact me via Ned Kelly by Bandit Street Food Guide to the Best Burgers in Milton KeynesĮvery effort has been taken to ensure the information in this blog post is correct, however, I advise referring directly to the vendor websites and social media pages for the most up to date information. In this Milton Keynes food guide, I’m sharing the best burgers in Milton Keynes from independent vendors. The rise of the street food scene has paved the way for more niche burgers using quality, local ingredients, and vendors pushing the burger boundaries to create something truly delicious. Fast-food chains have dominated the burger scene, with most people thinking that’s all that’s out there to enjoy, but I say you don’t know what you’re missing. For me, it’s a mouthful of balanced flavour with a range of textures – it needs to have Umami and ultimately, be a meal in one. So best burgers in Milton Keynes? Yes we need this guide! What constitutes a good burger is very much a personal choice. Happy National Burger Day! It’s one of those fantastic, slightly unnecessary national food days which provides excellent inspiration for blog and social media content.

EDITOR: Indulgences can lead to loss of sleep. These can come in the form of watching late football games, playing video games, chatting on social media, imbibing in too much libation, reading, watching movies, shopping on line, and the list goes on and on.  My favorite indulgence is sweet cake and coffee, especially this wonderful time of the year when the nights and mornings offer relief from the ending summer heat. When indulging, I ask myself is it worth it?  If something does not taste good enough to wear around my waist for a few days, then it is not worth it.   If something makes me feel bad the next day, then it is not worth it.  “Exercising” self-control is a better option.  “Self-control” reminds me of my sixth grade teacher Mr. Lusk.  Our class wrote many sentences when we misbehaved of his famous saying, “ Self-discipline is the key to success.”  LRMartin

Jotting from Lynne, for Jeannie:  Jeannie is German and loves to share the passion of German Priest, Martin Luther,( 1483-1546), who stood up to the Roman Catholic Church and nailed the Ninety-Five Theses to the doors of the church, disputing the requirement for Indulgences to the church in payment for sins. It is thanks to this courageous priest that we no longer “pay” the church for our “indulgences” or sins.  It is because of free-thinkers who defy the herd mentality, that we are no longer give money to take away our sins or reduce or punishment.  Scripture tells us there is one price paid in full for our sins, and that was paid with the blood of God’s Holy Son, Jesus Christ, who came to this world, to pay the debt of our sins. Jesus stretched out His arms on the Cross to show us He Loves us, That Much.  All we need to do is love Him back.      LRM    Quotes by Martin Luther:  “God does not need your good works, but your neighbor does.” “ Even if I knew the world would go to pieces tomorrow, I would still plant my apple tree.” “ Every man must do two things alone: he must do his own believing and his own dying.” Martin Luther is one of the most controversial and influential figures in the history of Christianity.  Luther wrote the hymn “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.”

Skydive Robertson
All bookings may be transferred to a different date or another individual but usually are not redeemable for money. Wear garments suited to the situations of the day. To ensure clear skies and optimal skydiving weather avoid the rainy seasons, which vary across provinces. Gauteng’s wet season is from December to February. The rainy season in the Western Cape is from June to about August. Had an amazing expertise with Durban Skydiving Centre this past Saturday. Durban Skydive is certainly the place to jump out of a plane. Gareth Vaughan, 56, did his first static line parachute descent on Sunday round 9am, Pasa's national security and coaching officer Mark Bellingan stated in a press release. The employees and DZO Mark are superior and the views over the North Coast of Kwazulu Natal are simply beautiful. I would advocate this DZ to anybody for Tandem, AFF, Coaching or simply awesome 2/3/4 methods over the Indian Ocean. The only draw back for me is that I even have to journey to Durban from Joburg to visit them as typically as I can. Helicopter Flight Options In Queenstown Adventure Inspiration One of the preferred and breath-taking actions in Queenstown is a scenic helicopter flight. It’s a incredible method to respect the gorgeous alpine scenery of Queenstown and additional afield, with unrivalled views from above. Skydiving just isn't so dangerous if you are taking the safety measures correctly. The chances of going through any sort of fatal accident are zero.00 6% which could be very low. Breathe and you'll enjoy this experience to the fullest and without any panic. Yes, you don't want to neglect what you felt and skilled throughout your fall. Please try to be versatile, patient and relaxed whilst we do every thing we are in a position to to make your skydive occur. Tuesday January 3, 2023
First full day of retreat started with “Noble Silence” until after breakfast (about 10am). I thought JT would have a hard time with it, but I think he did better than me.
I slept well once I got used to the sounds of the jungle mixed with rain, and awoke before my six am alarm to a diffused light coming into our room and much bird chatter. I dressed for yoga and went out to our 360 degree deck to check out the surrounds by daylight - words and photos can’t describe, so I will just enjoy these tranquil mornings with the sound of birds and the crashing of the distant sea - nothing else!
Our routine is this:
7am - meditation (20 minutes seated guided, 20 minutes walking, and 20 minutes silent seated).
8am - breakfast
9am - class time
11am - yoga
12:30p - lunch
2-5p - free time
5p - optional yoga session
6:30p - dinner
We spent class time today getting to know the 21 additional participants - only one repeat from last years group, but about 8 that came last year to the first session. Many were vulnerable in sharing why they’re here and what they want to get out of the week. Myself, I’m still working on that.
The food, all vegan and plant based, is fantastic and beautifully presented. I’m stuck by the efforts they’re taking to make it look like “real food” though. Have to ponder that a bit more. Yesterday I also had a “drink your greens” juice, a matche latte, and a virgin passion fruit mojito from the smoothie bar (we bought the week pass for unlimited access). I’ll not be losing weight on this trip!
During our free time, Jeff and I explored the amazing grounds - a challenging hike down to a waterfall where I couldn’t resist a swim, a stroll through their vegetable and herb garden, and we checked out the other lodging options (domes and bungalows). One of the things we discussed in class today was freeing ourselves from judgments and comparisons - I failed that today when I realized how lucky we are to have scored one of these Bali suites. If nothing else, being above the jungle and not in it helps with my freak out factor immensely!
Jeff had a 5pm massage and I went to the additional yoga session, before another great dinner and fun conversation with Gerry, Katherine and Jane (a couple and sister). Fabulous day. I’ll continue to post awesome photos, but most of my writing on this trip will be reflective in my yoga journal!

Idiots - Part 2
Karl Jacobs x gn!reader
tldr: They’ve both got a crush. Sucks, since they’re the only ones oblivious to it. (Slow Burn!)
CW: none, fluffy :))
a/n: Picnic portion was inspired by Sunflower by Rex Orange County :) Sorry it took so long! Major writers block on this but now I’m back :)))
edited yet?: yes - let me know if I missed anything!
Part 1 - Part 2
“So we agree, I’m Eve and you’re Wall-E?” y/n asked as the credits began to roll.
“I want to sit here and disagree with you just to spite you, but I can’t,” Karl responded, “I could 100% see you blasting someone for just walking funny on a bad day.”
“I’d blast you just for the hell of it,” Y/n jumped onto their feet raising their arms up in a big stretch after sitting for the movie.
“Bad choice,” Karl reached his arms to the side of their body, immediately tickling them. Y/n immediately screamed out his name, trying to move themselves out of his grasp. As soon as Karl noticed this, he grabbed their arm to pull them back on to the sofa.
“You’re... going... to... regret... this!” Y/n huffed out, thrashing against him. Karl’s giggles and their screams echoed around the house. It wasn’t until y/n mustered up all of their strength to push him of the couch for them to escape his clutches.
Y/n ran to the bathroom, quickly locking the door behind them. Karl quickly ran behind them only to have the door slammed in his face, “Aw, c’mon y/n, let me in.”
“After that stunt you pulled? In your dreams, Jacobs,” Y/n turned toward the sink, ignoring Karl’s attempts to unlock the door. The only thing on their mind was their night routine and then hitting the hay.
As y/n started the warm water, the door swung opened making them jump. At the door frame stood Karl with a quarter in his hand, “Next time you should check to see what kind of lock I have.”
“Whatever, smart ass,” y/n rolled their eyes playfully, reaching for their tooth brush. They brushed their teeth as Karl scrolled through his phone. After the flight, unpacking, and a night with Karl, y/n just wanted to head to bed. They couldn’t even imagine how Karl felt with all the Mr. Beast stuff. After rinsing their mouth they asked, “You goin’ to bed too?”
Karl shook his head, “Nah, I’m going to stream for an hour or two. Nick and Alex want to practice for this Minecraft Championship thing so I’m gonna root them all while also roasting the crap out of them.”
Y/n should’ve known, especially with the mountains of energy drinks in his fridge. The man probably never sleeps, “Well you enjoy that. I’m knocking out for the night.”
Karl nodded. “I figured. You and you grandma schedule,” he giggled, resulting in a pout from them.
“You say that as if dealing with sleep deprived me isn’t one of the worst things in the world.”
“I mean, you got me there,” he shrugged. He walked over to them, wrapping his arms around them tightly, “Goodnight. Knock on my door if you need anything at anytime, okay?”
Y/n nodded, hugging back just as tightly. They wished this could last together. His smell was comforting, reminding her of happiness and serenity. His hold made them feel safe, like nothing could hurt them as long as he was there. The feeling ended too quickly as he pulled away, giving them one last smile before heading off to his stream room.
Y/n looked at themselves in the mirror, huffing to themselves. Going from not seeing Karl for over a year to all Karl all the time felt like sensory overload. The butterflies, the emotions, their head racing with thoughts that they shouldn’t have for someone who is just their best friend - it was a lot.
This was going to be a long week.
***
Y/n woke up to the sun’s rays gleaming through the blinds. Looking at their phone, they saw that it was 9AM. Juggling between the staying in bed and getting up, y/n decided that getting up was the better option. The last thing they wanted to do was go back to bed and mess up their “grandma schedule,” as Karl would call it.
Moving out of the bed, they reached their limbs as far as they could stretch them. After picking their outfit, they journeyed to the bathroom to get their morning started. On the way over, they peeked into Karl’s room and saw him still asleep. They had no idea when he had gone to bed so they shut the door quietly, making their way to the bathroom once again.
As they were brushing their teeth, y/n realized it was the day they were going to the warehouse for a Mr. Beast video. They knew they weren’t going to be filmed, but the nerves were still there. They had met Chris, which was helpful, but not Jimmy yet. What if they messed up a shot? Or messed up any equipment? Not touching anything while they were there seemed like a fool proof idea.
Y/n finished up their morning routine as they kept thinking of ways to not fuck anything up. Making their way to the kitchen, they knew the one thing that could - somewhat - calm their nerves: coffee.
Y/n happily found a jar of instant coffee. Not the best, but it’ll do. Upon unscrewing the jar, they noticed it a plastic film seal up which confirmed that it was brand new. Did Karl get this just because he knew they were coming? They couldn’t recall him ever drinking caffeine that wasn’t from an energy drink. Y/n didn’t know, but the idea of it made their heart melt.
***
Once Karl woke up, he and y/n made a quick breakfast together made their way over to the warehouse.
“I don’t know why, but I’m really nervous. I don’t even know what I’m nervous about. I know it’s going to be fine, but.... I don’t know,” y/n expressed on the drive there. It was a brand new experience and they didn’t know what to expect. They’ve never been on a set of any kind let alone one for someone as well known as Mr. Beast.
“Hey, you’ll be okay. I know it can feel overwhelming, especially for your first time. I’ll be there if you need anything,” Karl comforted them through their nerves. He held their hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, “If you ever need a minute, don’t wait to ask. Just take it.”
Y/n smiled at him. He was always great at making sure they were comfortable wherever they went. While the nerves were still there, they felt a lot better knowing Karl was available, even among the chaos that may ensue.
***
The day at the warehouse went really well. Y/n’s nerves went away about an hour in, but that didn’t stop Karl from checking every now and then. Y/n was grateful that they respected them not wanting to be filmed, especially when they started filming a Fear Factor like video with snakes, cockroaches, and tarantulas. With all the creatures around, it didn’t take long for them to grab one of the smaller boa constrictors and start chasing Karl around with it.
“Y/N! STOP! WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU?” Karl screeched, running away from them.
“REMEMBER THAT TICKLE ATTACK FROM LAST NIGHT? TOLD YOU YOU WOULD REGRET IT!” Y/n yelled back. They were laughing the entire time while Karl continued his screaming. Their fun chasing Karl was cut short when snake man had to start packing away his animals.
At some point during the day, y/n had taken a step outside for a social break. Chris took this time to continue the conversation he and Karl had in the car. Walking over to his friend, he asked, “So have you told them yet?”
Karl looked around to ensure you hadn’t come back or were around before responding, “No, I’m going to wait until right before they leave. I’m scared that I’ll tell them and it’ll ruin the week.”
Chris looked at Karl, absolutely dumbfounded, “Dude, I can’t believe the two of you. And you two acted the way you did today in college too?”
“I mean, yeah. We’re best friends. What’s wrong with how we’re acting?” Karl gave him a confused look.
“Nothing but it’s so painfully obvious y’all are into each other. I didn’t pick it up yesterday, but y/n is totally into you too, man,” Chris explained, “Even Chandler was able to pick it up. He thought I was kidding when I said you two weren’t a low-key thing. Please do both of yourselves a favor and just tell them.”
This conversation ran through Karl’s head the rest of the day. Did y/n really like him back? The thought of that made his stomach do flips. He became hyper aware of all y/n’s actions and they suddenly meant more to him. When they high-fived, he felt his hand on fire when they weaved their fingers with his. He was more aware of their body on his when they hugged, butterflies flying through his stomach when they gave him a squeeze.
The drive home was spent by y/n non-stop talking about how much of a great day they had right after a heated debate on where they would be picking up dinner. They were too tired to even thinking about cheffing up a meal. What y/n didn’t know was the nerves hidden underneath Karl’s semi-cool exterior on how he planned on confessing his feelings. Luckily, “semi-cool” was his middle name.
The two had stopped at the Asian fusion place they decided to pick up food from. As they got into the car, Karl’s eyes lit up as he came up with an idea for dinner and turned to y/n.
Y/n, noticing this, furrowed their brows and said, “You either have a really good idea or a really dumb idea, and I think you’re going to tell me whether I want to hear it or not.”
“You are absolutely right!” Karl giggled, “Anyways, to keep it short and simple, picnic in the park? I have a blanket and we can pick up some ice cream or something.”
“That... actually is a great idea! I’m starting a playlist now and I’ll share it with you. How does ‘stupidly great vibes’ sound?”
“Sounds perfect.”

The two sat on a hill in a nearby park, digging into their dinner with the last minute playlist y/n had come up with playing in the background. The bottom of the sun was barely touching the horizon, getting ready to set and give the sky to the moon for the night.
The comfortable silence they had was one of their favorite things about their relationship. Neither of them ever felt pressure to fill the emptiness. Just being in each other’s company was entertaining and pleasing for both of them. They just watched their surroundings, while enjoying their food and each other’s presence.
After they clean up, the silence continued. They sat shoulder to shoulder, enjoying the moment they were in. They both would steal side glances at each other without the other noticing. Moving to lean their head on Karl’s shoulder, Y/n was looking at the sunset but their thoughts were swarmed with him and the last day and a half. They loved how he always made sure they were comfortable and welcomed in any setting. They loved they way his voices would crack during a fit of giggles. Just one day with him had their mind swirling in a pool of just him. His touch, his smell, his voice. They felt like they were in a trance with him.
Being with them, Karl realized how much happier he was with them there. He realized how much giddier he was waking up, how his mood had been uplifted with just their presence. He loved how headstrong they were, but never so much to the point that it hurt other people. He loved the way they could up his self esteem in the matter of a few minutes. The more and more he thought about it, the more he realized he loved them. He loved them more than just a best friend. He’s had for a handful of years. He wanted more than just the title “best friend.”
The two sat there, both individually coming to the realization that they have been falling in love with the other over the last few years. Neither caught onto each other’s hints while every outsider saw the love for one another other bloom.
Karl turned his head, spotting a small white daisy in the grass next to their blanket. He leaned over to grab it which forced y/n to lift their head from where it was, their eyes watching for what he was reach for. Plucking it from the grass, he leaned back and gave it to y/n.
“For you,” he practically whispered with the goofiest grin on his face. Y/n took the flower from his hand, returning his smile.
“Aw, thanks Karl.”
They locked eyes immediately after. Any plans Karl had in his mind on confessing to y/n immediately got thrown out the window, the hours of thinking gone to waste. In that moment, he blurted out the only words he could make sense of in that instant, “y/n... I think I’m in love with you.”
Y/n froze, trying to wrap the words he said around their head. They for sure thought they were awake but after his confession, they couldn’t be sure if they were in a dream or not. Their mind was reeling, making the task of forming a sentence that made sense a difficult one.
At the same time, Karl was giving himself a mental face palm. He wanted to confess his feelings, but not to that level. His nerves were on high alert, already assuming the worst was yet to come. He had to save the friendship at the very least.
“I-I’m sorry. It wasn’t supposed to come out like that,” he rambled, “But - uh- I’ve had a crush on you for a while now and I never wanted to ruin the friendship but if you’re uncomfortable with that, that totally makes sense-”
As he kept talking, y/n began to collect their thoughts. They thought he looked so cute when he nervously rambled but they had to cut him off eventually, knowing his anxiety levels were through the roof.
“Karl,” As soon as he heard their voice, his rambling stopped and kept all eyes on them. He looked at them waiting for a response but receiving none. Instead y/n wrapped their arms around him, enveloping him in a warm hug, “I think I’m in love with you too.”
Karl felt his heart explode. Chris was right. He hugged them back just as, if not more, tight. Any nerves he had running threw his body were replaced with pure happiness. He didn’t need to hold anything back from them anymore.
Y/n pulled away from the hug, leaning their foreheads together, “Can I kiss you?”
Karl smiled, “Honestly, it’s all I’ve want since I made that shot into your coffee.”
Y/n gave Karl a bewildered look, “What? That long?” They exclaimed
“Yeah, but we have the rest of the week to talk about it.” Karl leaned in, pressing his lips gently against theirs, wrapping his hands around them to bring them closer. The kiss was gentle and sweet, as if they would be woken up from a dream if they were anything but that.
They pulled away from kiss, but remained in each other’s arms. They stayed silent and enjoyed each other’s presence and touch, each meaning much more than they had just a few moments earlier. All that was left in the park was the semicircle of the sun on the horizon, a bag of food scraps, and two idiots, dumbfounded at the love they had for each other.

Allies and Foes
You woke up the next morning to an empty bed, the cooled sheets and pillow telling you that Negan had been gone for a while. A quick glance at the clock showed it was almost 9am, and you lazily stretched underneath the red satin, enjoying the ability to sleep in.
You vaguely remembered Negan waking you up with a kiss to the neck earlier, when it was still mostly dark in the room. He had murmured something about a meeting with his Saviors, and you had responded by turning over and grumbling for him to let you go back to sleep. The last thing you remembered was his low chuckle, and then you were out again.
Reluctantly rolling out of the ridiculously luxuriant bed (seriously, where did he find such a soft mattress during the apocalypse?!), you started getting dressed. Unfortunately, you only had the outfit from yesterday, which wasn’t the cleanest after being out in the woods, but it would have to do until you returned to your own room.
The intrusive thought hit that maybe you could leave a few items of clothing here, so that you had more morning-after options for next time. You quickly dashed the thought, not wanting to get ahead of yourself. Sure, you had now spent the past three nights in a row with Negan, and two of those nights had been in his bed, but that didn’t seem like long enough to start moving in items. Just the thought of Negan doing something so domestic as allowing you to start taking over his armoire and bathroom drawers made you chuckle at the ridiculousness of it.
Though, doing so would mean more events like last night could easily occur, since you wouldn’t have to keep running back to your room for more clothes or other belongings. Your mind flashed to the shower, and what the two of you had done in it the previous evening. How you had gone to your knees and proceeded to blow both his cock and his mind. He had been particularly vocal, his sharp grunts and loud moans echoing off the tiles as he ran shaky fingers through your hair and made you feel like the most seductive woman on the planet.
Still smiling at the memory, you finished zipping up the boots, grabbed Ricardo, and headed out of the bedroom and across his office to the door. Creaking it open a few inches, you peeked down the hall. Seeing that it was clear, you quietly exited the room, shut the door behind you, and speed-walked down the halls and to the stairwell needed to get back to your room. Letting out a little puff of relief when you made it to your own floor, you slowed down the pace a bit, no longer needing to scurry like a roach caught in the kitchen when the lights turned on. Honestly, the fact that you had yet to run into a Savior or wife while making the morning-after trek to and from Negan’s room was really damn lucky and-
“Hey!”
The sound of a voice just as your hand was reaching out for the door knob to your room caused you to jump about a foot in the air. Whirling around, you saw none other than Maria at the opposite end of the hall, waving her hand in greeting as she came towards you.
Crap. Couldn’t the universe have at least let you put on clean underwear first?
Much as you didn’t want to interact with someone at the moment, you couldn’t help but recall the last time Maria had tried to speak with you, in this very hall. It had been after Negan confronted you about the pregnancy test, and you had completely ignored her and rushed past without a word. At the time you had been too emotional to care, but now you knew that she was owed an apology, not to mention the fact that you hadn’t really chatted or hung out with her since the night out at the picnic table. Doing the mental math, you realized that late night conversation had to have been a little over two weeks ago. Yea, you had been a shit friend to Maria lately, and it was totally deserved karma to have her pop up when you weren’t really prepared for social interaction. Well, you would just have to get over it. She didn’t deserve to keep being pushed aside, and you wouldn’t do so to her again.
Pasting on a grin, you opened the door and gestured for her to come inside. She preceded you into the room and settled on the rickety little bed. You tried to nonchalantly lean Ricardo against the wall, in hopes she wouldn’t ask why you were walking around with a weapon so early in the morning. Thankfully, she seemed too busy scanning the meager surroundings to notice. It had been a while since she was in your space, and you tried to take in the tiny room from her perspective, wondering if she found it lacking. You weren’t sure what the wives’ rooms looked like, since apparently Negan wasn’t keen on them having visitors up there, but if it was anything like the fancy clothes they wore then it was sure to be much nicer than your own room.
Just thinking about them made a lump of discomfort form in your stomach. It wasn’t as if you had forgotten about the fact that the man you were developing feelings for had a harem of women he called his wives, but it had been a lot easier to push them to the back of your mind when one wasn’t sitting in front of you.
Not wanting to waste time with small talk, especially when you both were smart enough to know it was a shallow distraction, you dove right in.
“I want to apologize for the other day, when I ignored you. That was shitty of me, and I’m sorry.”
She gave a tiny smile, and you immediately knew that she wasn’t mad. Of course she wasn’t. This was Maria, and she was one of the most forgiving and patient people you had known since the apocalypse began. The fact that she was still willing to even deal with your fickle ass, especially after your last couple of interactions, was proof enough of that.
“It’s alright,” she replied. “You looked pretty frazzled anyways. Everything okay?”
“I don’t know about everything, but things are alright,” you mumbled, almost hoping she wouldn’t hear the words.
You started picking at a stray thread on the grey cotton sheets, unable to help but compare them to the luxury of Negan’s satiny red ones. Ugh, why didn’t you just stay in his bed all morning, instead. You could’ve enjoyed physical comfort and social isolation there.
Able to feel the weight of Maria’s gaze, you lifted your head to look at her. As expected, she was watching you closely, the slightest ghost of a smile tipping one corner of her mouth. “What?” you asked, not rudely, but perhaps a bit impatiently. She looked like she knew a secret that you didn’t, and you wanted her to just spit it out already.
“You spent the night with him,” she stated in a gentle tone, and when you jerked in surprise and opened your mouth to say....well, you had no clue what you were going to say, but thankfully she cut you off. “Which means,” she continued with a raised palm, a silent gesture for you to not get defensive just yet, “that considering how negatively you viewed his multiple wives situation, you must also know he stopped sleeping with them.”
Mouth still hanging open, you stared her down for a few seconds before snapping it shut. Making a “go on” gesture with your hand, you waited for her to continue with wherever it was she wanted this conversation to lead.
She then told you how she had suspected for a while now that the reason why Negan stopped coming to see the wives was due to his interactions with you. Her theory had been confirmed after your late night chat out at the picnic table when you admitted to being in his bedroom, somewhere none of the wives had been allowed to enter.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” you whispered, clutching the bedsheet so tightly your fingers were about to go numb.
“Honestly? Because you weren’t ready to hear the truth, and I knew you’d have completely shut down at the very thought of it. You still wanted to see him as a monster, so I figured I’d just wait and see how things played out. See if he’d keep allowing you to get close to him, or if one of you would get spooked and run, so to speak.”
You mulled this over. Was she right? If she had told you a couple weeks ago that he had suddenly stopped sleeping with all of the wives, would you have believed it? Doubtful. And even if you had, never in a million years would you have listened to her theory that his drastic change in behavior was because of the few interactions he’d had with you up until that point.
Much as you hated to admit, Maria had been right to keep quiet about it. Though you did wonder how she thought you had found out. Did she assume Negan had told you? Or maybe she was aware of how Amber had been using Trixie, and had come to the correct conclusion on her own. Maria was intelligent, so there was a good chance she knew more about the goings on around here than people gave her credit for. You wanted to ask how much she knew, but also didn’t want to risk outing Trixie, since she had told you that information in strict confidence.
Instead, you asked, “So now that you think I am ready to hear the truth, is there anything else I should know? Are the others coming up with a plan of how to quietly dispose of me, so that Negan will pay attention to them again?”
You said it jokingly, but were honestly curious to know how they felt about these recent changes. Amber obviously wasn’t your biggest fan, but what about the others? Did they see you as a threat to the luxuries they enjoyed here? Honestly, if the roles were switched, and they were the ones threatening whatever you had going on with Negan, you’d be tempted to sharpen mini-Ricardo shanks and take them out one by one. Your subconscious whole-heartedly agreed, giving a battle cry and stabbing at the air, as if taking out imaginary opponents, while your brain sighed and rolled its eyes.
“Well actually, we did recently have a group conversation about you.”
She said this calmly, but it still made your eyes go wide as you exclaimed, “You what?”
“It was a few days ago. Amber had been throwing a real tantrum after she tried to take Negan a dinner tray, and found him already in his office eating with you.”
Oh yea, you remembered that event, vividly. It had been about a week ago, before his last supply run. It was the evening he had confessed to you about his dead wife, and then Amber interrupted by knocking on the door with a tray. It had been apparent she wasn’t happy to see you there, nor to be sent away by Negan, so you weren’t surprised to hear she hadn’t handled it well afterwards.
Nodding for her to go on, Maria continued. “We let her vent about it for a couple days, since I think we were all hoping she’d eventually let it go the way she does most things that get under her skin. But she was like a dog with a bone this time, and kept running her mouth to all of us about how you were stealing Negan from us, and that if we continued to just sit back and let this happen, we were putting our status here in jeopardy.”
Sweat broke out on the back of your neck at the possibilities of where this story could be going. Just the thought of the wives sitting around talking about you as a potential threat or enemy made your stomach flop, but you stayed quiet and let Maria finish.
“She was really trying to get the rest of us riled up, and then one evening she started telling us all that we better be prepared to start scrubbing toilets for points, since we were willing to just let him toss us to the curb. That was when Sherry finally stepped in and put her foot down.”
“Wait, Sherry?!” you blurted, absolutely shook at this turn of events.
Maria nodded. “Yep. She told Amber that all she was doing was starting unnecessary drama, and that Negan had never given any indication that we would lose our privileges or have to start working for points just because he isn’t fucking us every night. Amber tried to argue at first, but Sherry held her ground. Told her that she’d gladly go get Negan, so Amber could tell him her concerns face-to-face, rather than continuing to make assumptions behind his back. That shut her up real quick, and she stormed into her bedroom and stayed there the rest of the night. I haven’t heard her say anything else about it since. She’s still sulking around a bit, but at least she’s been quiet.”
Your brain was struggling to take all this in, especially the part where Sherry had not only stood up for you, but done so against another wife. Crap, now you really felt like an asshole for being jealous and internally snarky towards her that day in the kitchen, when she took you to the medic after you cut your finger.
“Do you actually think she’ll let it go now?” You had a feeling that you already knew the answer, but couldn’t help asking.
Maria sighed. “I can’t say for sure, but Amber doesn’t seem like the kind of person who is okay with not being doted on. I don’t think she has any particularly strong feelings towards Negan, but she enjoys the status of being a wife. It can be a bit of a power trip, to catch the attention of a man like him, even if for shallow reasons.”
“Yea, don’t I know it,” you mumbled under your breath.
Maria raised an eyebrow, having obviously heard. “I don’t think I’d classify his attention towards you as shallow.”
Giving a huffed laugh and shrug, you tried to play it off. “Yea, well, is anything about Negan easy enough to classify?”
“Probably not,” she said with a shrug. “But that’s part of what makes him so intriguing, right?”
“If by intriguing you mean confounding as hell, then sure.”
Despite your annoyed tone, you were genuinely smiling at this point. Part of you wondered if this should feel more weird than it did, talking to a woman who was Negan’s “wife”, and had most likely slept with him, about whatever it was he had going on with you.
As if reading your thoughts, Maria’s face became more serious. “I hope this doesn’t make you feel like you can’t still talk to me, or see me as a friend.”
If you were being totally honest with yourself, the whole situation didn’t make you feel 100% comfortable, but you were pretty sure that was because of the possessive part of you that wanted him all to yourself. But was that a realistic emotion to even have, with a man like him? Could you be okay with him continuing to publicly have “wives”, even if he wasn’t sleeping with them? And what if he later decided to go back to them? It’s not as if he knew that you were aware he wasn’t sleeping with them at the moment.
Mentally shoving those questions into the padlocked box with the other unanswered questions, you honestly replied, “I’m not totally sure how I feel about all of this yet, but I definitely still see you as a friend, so no worries on that front.”
“I’m glad,” Maria said with a nod. “And in case I didn’t make it obvious, no part of me will be upset if Negan decides he doesn’t want to give us the same privileges anymore. Well, so long as you promise to give me a spot in the kitchen, so I’m not stuck scrubbing toilets beside Amber.”
“Deal,” you said with a laugh, glad that the air had been cleared between the two of you, and that she wasn’t harboring ill feelings towards you for taking Negan’s attention away from her and the other wives. Part of you even wondered if she had spent much alone time with him, since she hadn’t been his wife for very long when he stopped sleeping with them, but some things were just better left unknown. Besides, it’s not like he slept cuddled against any of them all night afterwards, or let them in his bed...or his shower.
Your subconscious was feeling awfully smug at that thought, nose in the air as it strutted around with a superiority complex. Meanwhile, your brain was pointing at the padlocked box of questions in annoyance, a motion which the subconscious purposely ignored.
You chatted with Maria for a bit longer, the conversation much lighter and more frivolous than before. It felt good to just hang out and discuss random topics, the way you had when the two of you were surviving for weeks out in the woods together. You might’ve each taken very different paths when it came to Sanctuary life, but it was a relief to know that the connection you had formed prior to coming here surpassed those differences. You also appreciated that she didn’t push for more information about you and Negan, and didn't even mention his name again.
When she left a little while later, a glance at your watch showed that dinner prep was in about two hours. Grateful for the chunk of alone time, you finally changed into fresh clothes and propped yourself up in bed with the copy of Harry Potter. You smiled when removing the little piece of paper you had torn from your notebook as a bookmark. While this one was blank, there was a second little piece of paper that was bookmarking a place closer to the beginning of the book. This piece of paper you had marked in pencil with the letter N, and it held the spot where Negan had stopped reading yesterday morning. You had stuck it in there after he left your room, the book having been face down on your side table where he placed it when you woke up and distracted him. Hoping that he’d return to reading it, especially if you kept his place, you couldn’t help but mark his spot.
Just the thought of his possible reactions to some of the plot twists had you smiling, at the same time as a devious thought crept into your head. If you made sure to get him hooked on the first book, he’d definitely have to find copies of the other ones in the series to share with you, right? There’s no way someone can read the first book and not need to also read the rest.
Both subconscious and brain nodded in agreement at this theory before cuddling up on either side of you, so that they could also see the opened book. Diving back into the story with a contented sigh, you immersed yourself in the magical world, not planning a return to reality and all the awaiting unanswered questions until it was time to head downstairs for dinner prep.
