yall want my hot take? I don't think gale would be a good dad. I think he would be good with and like kids but that's not the same as parenting. like. u know kids are generally really bad at things and kinda dumb compared to adults right? I think realistically having to stay quiet when a 3 year old was really really REALLY wrong about something would give him a stress induced ulcer skjrdkkddn

I know some of you might have other favorite characters in UT/DR, and that's completely fair, I myself didn't have a favorite for a long time since I loved them all.
..But can we all agree that Asriel/Flowey is the best character Toby has ever written until now?
Just everything about his tragic story and development, how in genocide we can see explained how he changed so much from a sweet little boy who just wanted to save everyone and who loved his family, to a sadistic, apathetic, and manipulative flower.
That, and the hints that Flowey is still Asriel no matter how hard he tries to deny it. He's done so many awful things, and has gone through so much and in the end he's just a scared, panicked, sad child who doesn't want to be alone.
I couldn't explain it too well I think, there are just so many things to love about him.
It's all just so, so good.

I think the funniest part of Ashley always making borderline incestuous jokes is that shes fully ready for Andrew to return that energy and Andrew thinks shes just being weird on purpose
If Andrew had responded to "what do you want in return, my virginity?" With literally any semi positive answer I think Ashley would have been fine with it or kept up the energy. Andrews in deep denial though about wanting to fuck Ashley, while Ashley just accepts that, yeah, her brother definitely wants to fuck her
The main difference between the two of them is that Ashley fully embraces their nature and has completely given up on trying to fit into normal society ever.
While Andrew is in denial about it and is still masking 24/7 to try to keep some semblance of socially acceptable normalcy.
Basically yeah lol she knows how her brother is to a certain degree and he knows her too they are just silly.

dan is actually SUCH a romantic I didn't expect that
idk if this is in reference to something specific that happened recently lmk if it is, but yeah he really IS
he's got his edgy cynical persona and brand and we love him for it, but he can never really help being a bit of a sap when it really comes down to it
most recent silly example i can think of is him thinking the sims shouldve had an option for evan to lovingly wake dab up lmaooo
and of course there's all of those interviews, archenemies, husbands, 4000 year old tortoises, and so on <3
this is getting slightly off topic but also slightly related, something i find absolutely fascinating is the differences in how dnp navigate these types of things, being romantic and/or being emotionally vulnerable on camera/in print
like had has the edgy cynical aloof "coincidences are just statistics" thing he likes to project, but really it doesn't make much digging to get him to start waffling poetic
but phil has the cheerful optimistic believes in the magic of coincidence thing, but i think he holds a lot of his sappiness and/or emotional vulnerability way closer and way more guarded
there's obviously a lot more complexity to this that we are not privy to and i also cant explain in just a few sentences, but still, it's so interesting how the major/most noteble aspects of their branding and online personas can give a viewer, especially ones who arent insane about them like all are here on this website, an almost opposite impression as to what's really happening
(this also is tangentially related to my thoughts about how dnp navigate the idea and practice of lying, which i also find fascinating, like i think for dan lying is a Bigger thing, like he has a greater urge/need to feel like he is being authentic and honest and a greater want to not lie, but phil sees lying as more of a neutral practice that can be helpful and useful in situations where people just aren't entitled to that information, like i think when dan said "phil doens't care, he's just like like 'i'll fucking lie to anyone'" there was a kernel of truth to that, but this is a longer conversation and i've already made this answer way longer than i expected lmao thank you for humoring me guys)

idk man, the epilogue is like this really deep...exploration of interpersonal connections and wants and desires interlaced with the complexity of circumstance and consequence and regret and guilt. and I started it as a like "haha, this is what I want! I want two monkeys being gay, haha!"
but it's so. fucking tragic, actually.
just in chapter 1, we see how defeated Macaque is, how lost he is. how he hesitates and flip flops constantly. how he says or thinks something with certainty, but then goes back on that. he tries so hard to commit to one path, but he truly is fluctuating and has no clue what to do
and wukong is just...certain of himself. he's certain of his wants and desires now after Constellations. He wants to maintain connections and put in the effort no matter what. and that..juxtaposition of them...is just so raw and hurtful in chapter 1 because we see that wukong notices that in Macaque because he knows him better than anyone.
And Macaque admits he's a little lost. he doesn't know what he wants. but he keeps walking. he wants to make his own choices. he wants to think for himself. he wants to see the truth for himself.
and as the days go by, as the weeks and months pass...as they grow and change, it's just sad. because it's not
the epilogue is not this "will they? won't they?" shadowpeach thing.
look at them as individuals. that's why i finally decided to change the perspective. because we needed to see macaque's thoughts. I've shown you wukong's; please give macaque that same level of attention.
when people write romance or relationships, they often misstep when it comes to the characters that are in the relationship. in order for that relationship to be believable and relatable and enjoyed by the audience, you have to develop the characters independently and together.
we cannot have shadowpeach until we know, with certainty, who macaque and wukong are.
