Alright, stars until now ramble time! My rambles alternate between character focused and writing style focused, so I really hope you don't mind! <3

The very first thing that stands out to me is how you maintained the core essence of Wilbur and Tommy's characters and their personalities, even as the setting changes every time. It feels like you're really just seeing the same character picked up and put into different scenarios rather than seeing alternate versions of them, yknow? I don't know if I'm explaining this as it is in my head, but I love your takes on their characters! Meanwhile Phil and Techno have so many different aspects of their characters and it's very cool to see how you amp up different parts of it depending on what the situation calls for.

And then the worldbuilding!! The amount of effort put into differentiating royal upbringing in contrast to the others, the amount of political talk and thought that goes into negotiations and decisions, it all comes together so well! And of course, the character dynamics are absolutely gorgeous, but those have always been wonderful from you. Crimeboys absolutely nailed as always, and the added fun of all the other dynamics (and the pleasant change to Wilbur and Phil's talking style, it's so intriguing because of the power plays and amount of weight there. Yes.)

Then there's more specific stuff, like how Wilbur's past experiences haunt him with every breath he takes and every interaction he has, and how much Tommy means to him (and vice versa, of course). The feeling you put into every decision and describe every single scenario through him (what comes to mind is the experience they had in the crawlspace before they escaped), and the descriptions of the guilt of having to leave Niki behind, they're all so well done!

I'm so glad that it still feels like wilbur and tommy at their core even though I always put them in such wildly different situations. one of the biggest things I worry about as an au writer is that i have to make sure I'm actually writing the characters and not just thinly-veiled ocs lmao, so i'm really happy to hear i succeed at that! and yes while i do usually have a set way i write phil and techno's characters, stars is a complete departure bc I'm highlighting underused aspects of their characters and it just makes things feel really fresh :D

thank you i love showing the difference in upbringing between the royals and non-royals. it's just such a subtle worldbuilding aspect but it changes peoples entire views and personalities regarding certain things. and wilbur and phil's conversations are literally so fun for me to write bc it's so drastically different from how i've written them before so i'm just really loving getting to explore this new dynamic between them

ok ok im doing the ji//m/in music review of 2023 here cause that way i can let it out also i’m a music nerd and i’m obsessive and unhinged it’s terrible i need to overanalyze everything and slap little thoughts abt it and this song frustrated me a lot by sheer potential/amazement etc so ye whatevs this is my lonely corner anywayz 

im so fkcing curious abt the album and i mean it, but i’m also v frustrated with the new song. like,, the production is crazy, literally the music is so intense & beautiful, orchestras & wind instruments is just such a wild ride and i’m so into it (i was hyped from the trailer tbh i knew itd be crazy). the harmonies are Haunting. the two together is just an insanely intense mix of emotions. it feels like being plunged into a RAW emotion immediately, you could use this music for dark movies, crash scenes, religious deaths, horror movies, and it would fit perfectly cause it’s That intense. i love it sm. 

// the clip is very seemingly simple which i really love cause it balances out perfectly with the music, like, you couldn’t have different decors and rooms and like idk sexy/cute closeups or whatever i think it would just break the flow with such an intense music. so, you have to shoot like a short movie, perfect. i feel like it’s a direct play with like,, expectations. “this is what you want, this is what i show you, but set me free from this” it’s very ,,, intriguing. that the lyrics would prone being set free but ,,, clearly the choreo jimin does, it’s smthg you’ve seen before (i don’t mean like, it’s recycled or whatever, but like, the movements are strong, kind of sensual, the fact that he’s dancing at all really, that’s the style that people expect and love from him), the outfit its Litcherally what everyone who’s trying to be a bad boy in kpop wears (big chunky boots with the chunky bomber jacket and cargo pants like, sure). 

so it’s like. you’re trapping yourself. you sing abt being free. you’re not freeing yourself at all. you’re literally in a huis clos, that looks like a prison. there’s no color, there’s no life except for the dancing, it’s so fkcing depressing to see such a cage, but it Looks cool too, right ? but the group choreo !! i love it, it joins the haunting voices perfectly. the voices are literally screaming at you with anguish, and the dancers are always in a role of being agressors to jimin, pointing fingers from the ground, from higher up, surrounding him, making noise (the gestual i mean is very noisy always all limbs moving etc) looking at him, and then lifting him up, touching him until he falls down and “dies”. horror movie, much. i love that, it’s like,,, this is what you want, this is what i give you, you still destroy me. thats kind of what i got, esp with the poem, which is very pretty, placed on the part of his body that’s nude. i love that his body becomes art but becomes politic in that way ; that’s where you’ll be looking so read then. but will you care abt it anyway ? it’s all depressing symbolism to me tbh but i love it anyways

the ending with the white clad ji//m/in, my thoughts are either,,, is this the inner self that’s gotten out (the lyrics want that i guess), or is it just you showing the new expectation that you’ve carved out.. cause technically, he is still trapped in the scene, he is showing something that people also want ; purity, no scandals, softness, the perfect angel side of him. so my first thought was that,, i didn’t feel like that was really a “being set free” resolution, like to believe that you’re truly being set free i’d need to see something else because this narrative isn’t really showing it. and then like,,, i learnt this was the last song of the album. and that made me feel like, oh is that it ? kinda broke my heart in a way. it made me think abt Arson and how it’s the last song of JITB’s whole trajectory, and with Arson i feel like it’s about reclaiming the control of something uncontrollable. the ending note is “i get to chose to burn it all or extinguish the fire” kinda,,, it’s strong and full of anger and pride and self doubt, but it ends on this note that feels like this is it, you know, new chapter now, i’m looking at a crossroad of choices. it feels Good to hear. set me free pt2 just feels daunting like,,, idk it made me feel like Ji//m/in (im talking abt the persona etc i don’t know the guy this is abt a narrative yadayada) ,,, idk the dilemna is still going. it’s like,, claiming you’re finally free but still begging to be set free till the end, doing it by looking straight at the camera and taunting you (is this what u wanna see ? am i free now ? will you read me ? etc), in a way it feels he’s reclaiming his agency/control by doing this, but also like he doesn’t believe it profundly at all. it’s like. i’ve done it now, will you get it anyways, i don’t think so, i’ll just be this other part now, you will never know me. i think that was my feeling overall. you will never know him, he’s not sharing that, he’s showing surface in many ways, and in details he’s showing more, but even that more isn’t that much and will never be clear. it’s intriguing, i’m intrigued, i’m also frustrated because i honestly would just really like to see the whole album to get a feel for everything and place it all in context but can’t do that so let’s ride, and idk, part of me would enjoy more clarity/substance

// next point,,, music is music first. and that makes me so Mad lmfao and this is personal taste you know but i was quiteeee disappointed by the song, because i honestly think it has the best & worst at the same time ? and that makes me Maaad i really want to love the song because the fkcing instrumentals you know, but i can’t because i don’t think his voice is well placed on the track. like, listen. what pple call autotune even tho it’s not, its actually filters, anyways im annoying lets call it autotune, it was too agressive for his voice i think. he has a very beautiful tone and texture, his lower register in Promise is just insane. so like... the point was to make his soft voice agressive, alright, the song calls for energy and agressiveness, Alllright. but it doesn’t feel like it fits to me my ears just don’ttt like that. 

i think his voice sounds different because he’s singing in english, im not a fancy music nerd im just a music nerd from years of digging, but basically language means you sing differently, mostly because the sounds are different, the way you hold your tongue, head, the way you use your throat is different depending on those sounds. so basically,,, korean and english are actually Very far apart in terms of sounds, like, fr it’s reaaaally hard to go from one to the other for learning cause it’s so wildly different, pronunciation is Hard, but just getting used to using your vocal chords and throat and jaw all that, is also hard because we have Habits and we need to learn New habits in Our Bodies literally (language is insane, its basically why going on T is so fkcing weird for voice changes cause like,,, thats a whole part of ur body that u gotta learn to reuse and it Hurrrts ? and it’s a very weird process). back to the topic, in english it feels like he’s singing with a more open-throat sound in lower registers and im gonna be honest i don’t like that because it sounds uncomfortable.. it’s smthg i personnally notice in singers and that i don’t like hearing,, when something feels unnatural. his english in higher register ? delicious. the high notes on set me FreeEEE ? beautiful !!! fits the music so fkcing well !! 

but the lower registers with that unnatural singing feeling AND the haannnddful of modifyers making it v robotic and harsh, thats just taking me Out of it. pple love that cause they feel like he’s playing two different people, i Get that and in theory that’s so cool but tbh i just don’t think the execution ended up that good. idk. honestly wonder how that could’ve gone ? im not a vocal coach nor a musician nor a singer so i wouldnt know shit abt that lmfao but really in terms of details thats just bugging me cause it makes me feel like,,, damn you were So close. the concept was cool but this isn’t hitting. cause it’s like,, the higher notes are this beautiful insanely pretty moments but every 0.2sec theyre cut back to the uneasiness and i don’t like that,,,, maybe it would’ve deserved more lyrics,,, like instead of being low NOW YEA NOW YEA you come in with a low singing sentence idk maybe that would’ve felt less empty/gratting,,, wonderinnnggg. anyways the trap bridge just took me out,,, i just,, idk i don’t feel it fits his voice again, i don’t like ji//m/in rapping actually i don’t think he’s a rapper like idk he’s a good singer but rapping is a whole other category and thats that. i liked his verse in T/ony Mon/tana because he used his voice Differently, he was spitting it out, it doesn’t come from an open throat singing, it was litcherally using a hoarse voice, which just works for agressivity but also he does v well !! like he’s literally alternating between breaking his voice to sound agressive which he Does in concerts sometimes and all and is cool as hell, and then singing very calmly but BASICALLY the hoarse texture works !!! my hypothesis is like,, the open throat thingy is because he’s screaming (HEY FOOLS ! part like,, power through screaming it out, many rappers do that in concerts because of the hype etc so like rather than rapping like u usually do you’re shouting it out), buuuttt not everyone can shout a performance to get higher energy and make it sound good. many rappers Don’t sound that good when they shout at concerts, cause that’s not their typical texture or whatever or it just loses the edgy touch of their texture before (do i make sense, god i hope no one in music reads me like ever). how do i equate that to make sense... J/h/ope singing at Lolla, you can literally tell at some point that he’s singing in low register but gave his voice too much power (shouting), had bad notes, so finished the sentence and for the next sentence got back to a quieter voice,you can hear Less well cause like, the whole crowd yelling thingy, but thats were his notes were correct cause thats were his voice is. anyways. fun bit to illustrate that nobody gets but me but lets gooo cowboys. anyways, the ending is pretty, i wouldn’t have added that last high “set me free”, i think letting his voice disappear slowly and ending with the other backing vocals would have felt more poetic, but whatevs. i’d say overrall,,, i think, the song would’ve been better with a lot more textures, instead of voice modifyers and gratting filters, you know like,, if you wanna get angry and go hard, then your voice needs to go Angry and go Hard, thats my mood (make it Hurt, make it punk, layer the fuck out of it, add weird fcking details, idk, anything tbh)

// in terms of lyrics huhhhh,,, i don’t dig it particularly, i think the message is well, pretty clear, some shout outs to other songs, his past self, etc. tbh i just don’t think the imagery is particularly original ? like,, free & butterfly (yes but it’s a nod to other songs yadayada i know i was there,,,, it’s sentimental but i’m an annoying person looking at the song as a song also) it’s like,, it’s all things you’ve read/heard before in terms of actual words. which like, i guess we can’t Invent new words but that’s where poetry and imagery come from, intricacies and all that jazz, it’s pretty fun to play with, and i feel like, well, the song is pretty straight forward so at least it’s clear but it’s not rocking my jams too much. i like the imagery of “raise your hands for the past me” cause it can be read both as “congrats for getting there” and mockery, like pointing finger, which they all do in the choreo, so i think it sounds bittersweet which i Like. i also feel like the lyrics really put in context the narrative of the video (duh ig) because the maze never really leaves even tho the chorus begs for freedom (wandered/stuck in/at the edge/still in). and the juxtaposition between “finally free” vs. “set me free” vs. “primetime/finally begun” vs. “forget/forget” and obvs “insane/sane” are the most interesting parts in terms of lyrics & depth. but yeah. i don’t particularly vibe with the fuck offs and you fools and the i never stops and fuck all your opps cause like,,, mmmh,, idk why i feel like it’s just not hitting. why is it not hitting tbh ? i Wonder. maybe because it doesn’t feel that tightly knit with the rest of the song, maybe because his voice doesn’t really push the feeling through enough ? it kind of feels very randomly put there, musically at least, instead of Hitting right. my guess is that i’d say the song lacks actual words ? it was a gut feeling like, it’s too empty, it’s too general, if it was more precise, more dense, it would really balance out the fkcing Sheer craziness of the music & background vocals. maybe MORE jim///in vocals juxtaposed too ? maybe if he really played with having many voices !!! like, tbh, many singers create texture by singing themselves in different keys (damn that was the word i searched for all along) and stacking those up (ie. literally any pop artist ig idk Ha/rry Sty//les does it in Matilda very clearly, i think thats what came up first in my brain anyways, it adds this kind of, haunting feeling because you can’t clearly distinguish the other keys but you still hear them, it’s like,, little ghost voices, adding the same emotion but slightly different versions of it), but i still think just packing more words would’ve made the song feel more anchored. cause in the end the verses are super empty,, esp the “not yet, not yet” and then “now yeah, now yeah” that feels so unfulfilling !!! just stock em up, get more up there. and i get that it works w the message but it just idk. im not fed, like, musically. 

//overall,,, hmm, i guess it boils down to i vibed with it in theory & sentiment, but the actual song just leaves me unsatisfied. sadly. and its like, tragic, cause thats kind of the point of the song to be free from judgement and reception etc, but alas, i just didn’t really reception it. but tbh i think music and art is just about learning & growing, and i think that’s what he’s doing and will do all his life just like me. honestly i always have respect for artists who Do try to make something honest and true. i think that’s what he was going for, cause the music proves it, and the care proves it, so i’m gonna sit my ass and say that,,, this isn’t a song empty of Meaning it’s a song that struggles to bring it out into Emotion. like, actual emotion, followed through all the way not just with the instrumentals and background vocals cause those are Very emotional, but through technique and creativity and depth. it’s too neat. that sounds super harsh cause i just use direct words all my life but anyways. lets get it. end of my music rant. will come back here for all my music rants from now on cause this is litcherally an empty space and my friends can’t bear the music obsession so, good for me.

Being short on time, you opted for something more comfortable, nuzzling yourself into the soft fabric of your favorite hoodie. You were just finishing up brushing your teeth when you heard keys jingle in your front door.

You quickly spat out the water you were rinsing with, drying your face and meeting Johnny in the living room. “What hit you on the way here?” you asked, stepping close to him and observing the way that his dark hair fell over his face in thick bundles, how his forehead was beaded with a thin line of sweat.

“I ran, Y/N,” he admitted, shoving his hands in the pockets of his jeans. “You know I’m never too far away, and my car’s been here all day so I couldn’t take it.”

You smiled. He never ceased to amaze you with how much care he put into being by your side, even with the pressures of his group on his shoulders. “You told me to get ready,” you said, grabbing onto his sleeves and trying to gently wrestle his hands out of his pockets. “What’s that about?”

“It’s our anniversary, baby,” he replied. “I want to spend time with you.”

“And no one cared that you left practice early?”

He grinned, looking up in thought. “I might have had to convince Taeyong to cover for me, but they won’t miss me. I only have two lines in this song, anyways.”

You hummed in disbelief, finally managing to get his hands out of his pockets as you held onto them tightly. “SM doesn’t know what they’re missing,” you say, squeezing his hands. “More for me, though.”

He leaned down to press a quick kiss on your forehead, his hands snaking their way out of yours to reach back into his pockets and grab his keys. “Come on. I want to make it before they close,” he said, cocking his head to the side for you to follow him as he turned and walked back to the door.

“They?” you asked, intrigued. “Who’s they?”

He opened the front door, letting you leave first with a grand gesture of his arm. “You’ll see. It’s nothing crazy.”

You weren’t quite sure what Johnny had meant by “nothing crazy.” The building he had pulled up to—in his car, this time—was nothing short of palace-like. Without even giving you time to process it, he had gotten out of his side of the car and was walking around the hood to open the door for you.

“Aren’t we a bit underdressed?” you asked, stepping out and marveling at the glass windows, marble walls, and wooden furnishings inside. Surely, you and Johnny were meant to be more upscale.

He shrugged, closing the car door and grabbing your hand to walk you inside. “I don’t think there’s a dress code.”

“If I had known it was this fancy, Johnny...”

He shushed you, tugging you closer to his body as you approached the door of the too-grandiose café. “Quiet, Y/N. You’re beautiful.”

The two of you walked inside, and Johnny happily greeted the workers as they gathered up their menus, plates, and utensils to bring to the table you chose.

You fiddled with the sleeves of your hoodie as he ordered for the both of you, your favorite drink already a staple in the back of his mind. “Hey,” he said, grabbing your attention. “Three years, huh?”

You smiled lightly, your lips quirking upwards at the idea. “Three years,” you repeated breathlessly.

Johnny chuckled, tugging you into his side. “Best three years of my life.”

“Really? I would have figured your years as a rookie were far better,” you teased, gazing up at him with admiration. Even after a full day of rehearsal, Johnny never once let the work of the day bother him. He was bright, chipper, calm, and collected, and he never failed to make you feel your happiest.

“Are you kidding?” Johnny asked incredulously, dramatically holding you as if his life depended on it. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. You know that.”

It was hard to hear those words come out of Johnny’s mouth. All of the wonderful things that had happened to him in the past decade, and he considered you to be the best thing? He must have noticed your hesitation, quickly releasing you and instead choosing to hold your hands in his. “Y/N,” he started, tightening his grip on you and looking at you intensely, “you’re all I want.”

You smiled at the kind gesture, giving his hands a squeeze in response. Over his shoulder, you noticed one of the servers walking over with a warm cup of coffee and a steaming cappuccino. She set them down in front of you, bowing politely and making her way back to the kitchen to give you space. Mouth watering, you quickly picked up the cappuccino and blew on the steam to cool it down, bringing it to your lips. “It’s good,” you marveled, savoring the taste of the coffee.

Johnny started giggling, eyes curling and teeth shining in a bright smile. You stared at him, confused. “You have—” He couldn’t even get the words out through his heavy laughter. “There’s foam on your mouth.”

Your eyes widened as you scrambled to smudge it off, but you just managed to smear it all over the corners of your lips. Johnny kept cackling, your panic too adorable for him to handle. He gently rolled up the sleeve of his hoodie, licking his thumb and reaching out to wipe the cream from your mouth. “Did you get it?” you asked him as he cleaned his finger off on the napkin beside his coffee cup.

He glanced at you with a flirtatious glint in his eye. “If I say no, do I get to kiss you?”

“It’s been three years. You can kiss me whenever you’d like,” you say to him, and he brought you closer to him, swiftly cutting off the distance between your lips in a single move. Your lips moved with his like they were made for each other, and you couldn’t help the smile that rose on your face as he held you softly against him. “Thank you, Johnny,” you murmured against his lips, eyes still shut. It was still quite hard to believe that the man in front of you was yours, especially when he did things like this: simple acts of affection that, no matter how much you would protest, always came before his responsibilities in NCT.

“Anything for you,” he whispered back, clutching the side of your face in his hand. “I love you, Y/N.”

“And I love you, Johnny.”

just finished s1 of tokyo ghoul so i’m SPRINTING to ur inbox. okay i liked it a lot but i didn’t feel like i really got into it until the last ep LMAO i wanna give kaneki a hug the torture scenes were so hard to watch. he was a different sort of main character which i liked a lot, though GOD his sense of style is so bad. also my biggest critique: not enough hide. that and i still had a lot of ,, unanswered questions i wish there had been more world building

i agree with you! i feel like the story doesn’t really get Good good until kaneki gets the white hair and becomes shironeki (white hair + kaneki LMAO), which is where the anime...stops being accurate to the manga :’) i love kaneki sm sdjflksdf he’s a sweet baby boy and i think a scene that really hit me was when he was thinking about his mom and how she always tried to be self-sacrificing to the point of self-destruction and how kaneki really takes that to heart and that’s what results in him losing his humanity hdfsdlfk ;; my sweet summer child he really doesn’t deserve any of what happens to him, ESP when more of his past is revealed later :( his torture scene....the voice acting was so good but it made it So so hard to watch, ughdflsdf his screams ;; natsuki hanae did such a good job but yeah i always have to skim through bc i just get super super sad if i watch it all the way through :’)

HIDE!!! he gets a bigger role + focus after this arc in the manga! i’m not quite sure about √A cause i refused to watch it JSDFLKDFJ but yeah i Love hide he’s such a good friend asdjflskdfj irl hide...wya....i’m waiting 🧎‍♀️

and for world building! it definitely gets a lot more focus in the later seasons, at least in :re! later in the story it dives in further into aogiri tree and the doves and the political scope gets bigger and explored more. i’m not sure if you’re gonna watch √A and :re but if you do just know that √A kinda...deters from the manga and then :re got back on track by faithfully adapting the tokyo ghoul:re manga but there’s nothing that actually faithfully adapts the end of the tokyo ghoul manga so :’) that’s just a warning that u might be a little confused :””)

but yeah for the most part i think the first season of tokyo ghoul did a really good job setting up questions to be answered and intrigue for the world and attachment to the characters! my love for touka kirishima will never die

Secret Love

Characters: Kyungsoo x Reader (w/ occasional appearances by members of Exo)

The members of Exo were talking amongst themselves in their van as they were leaving the SM building. Concern and questions filtered the air about the new addition to their team for this cycle, which was essentially what the meeting was about. When the managers called for a meeting to go over new changes and adjustments before the start of their comeback, having a personal assistant was the furthest thing in their minds of what would be added to this edition. The guys were unsure about having a personal assistant added onto their team. Would this be a good thing? Would it be fun? What would their PA be like? All these questions filtered through in conversation on the ride back to their dorm.

“I don’t know, maybe it’ll be fun. Like having someone help us out and do stuff for us.” Baekhyun said, trying to put a positive spin to the topic.

“But we’re already surrounded by so many people. Wouldn’t it be easier with our managers just helping us? Like they’ve always done?” Jongin asked, looking around at his hyungs.

“Well,” Suho chimes in, “we’ll just have to wait and see.” 

A week has passed and the guys are all together in the studio for one last rehearsal before the comeback era begins. Music is blaring and drowning out the entirety of the room. The boys are fixated on the mirrored wall, studying every move they make, looking for flaws, finding room for perfection.

Suddenly, the music cuts, “Okay, take a break, guys!” One of the managers exclaims.

The boys disperse, heading for their water, laying on the ground, and catching their breaths.

“Boys.” Another manager announces, as he enters the studio room with a girl, a number of inches shorter than he. She followed in behind him, scanning the room. She wore a light blue long-sleeved button down blouse, black skinny jeans, and white flats. A light brown over-the-shoulder bag, and notebook in hand occupied her person. “Let me introduce you to someone. This is Y/N. Your personal assistant.”

They all are now standing in a line in front of you, eyes on you. Politely bowing to you, as you return the gesture.

“Hello, nice to meet you.” She says in a low tone, almost a murmur. She looked nervous, and probably was. Despite this, she still managed to hold herself up pretty well.

The manager goes on to introduce each of the members one by one, they all have sweet smiles and warm faces as they greet her. She’s eyeing each member trying to get the names to stick to the faces.

“Y/N is going to be on this leg of the comeback and tour with us. Anything you need, any questions you have, anything at all, she is your go-to person. We will not always be able to be around, but Y/N will be, so look to her as your sort of… savior.” The manager explains, a cheerful smile appearing on his face as he pats Y/N’s back and leads her to the other side of the room to go over other minor details.

The guys go back to taking a break, all talking and chatting amongst each other. Everything and everyone returned back to normal, except for one member.

Kyungsoo.

His complete demeanor had changed the moment they were introduced to their new addition to the team. He laid eyes on Y/N and everything shifted. Kyungsoo felt his insides fill with light butterflies flowing through him. “She’s beautiful,” Kyungsoo thought to himself.

Kyungsoo tried his best to keep things normal, and not make it obvious that he just wanted to admire Y/N that day. He wanted to get to know her, talk with her, be in her company. When he looked at her he felt like he could see into the future, and the future included nothing but her. Of course, he came back to reality and realized that this was all far-fetched and wishful thinking. Or at least that’s what he told himself.

The day came to an end, and the tour began. It was busy, it was wild, and it was eventful. The guys and Y/N ended up getting along very well, they began sharing jokes, laughs and such all in positive manners. The guys ended up liking Y/N, more so because she did not take them too seriously, but she also was able to keep them in control and grounded.

“This was actually a good idea. Y/N is a blessing to us all!” Chanyeol exclaimed.

It’s now been a few weeks into the comeback, and tour dates have been added all across South Asia. You’ve been working tirelessly on this new job of yours. The question of how you managed to land a job like this never ceased to cross your mind from time to time. It was still all feeling like a wild dream. But alas, you returned to reality and thanked the heavens for such a job, even if it did mean catering to the needs of nine idols. It really wasn’t as bad as you would have thought. The guys were wild and hyperactive, but they were also quite calm and laid back compared to what you had expected. You even ended up getting along pretty well with them, being able to joke around with them. But you were also a force to be reckoned with, and you didn’t have a problem with setting the guys straight when it felt necessary. And just maybe, they truly respected that about you, which added to the great connection.

However great of a bond that you’ve built with these boys, there was still one connection with one of them that seemed to always catch you off guard.

Kyungsoo.

You and Kyungsoo had seemed to have connected instantly, almost too instant. Maybe it was how you both didn’t really take any of the members nonsense, and you two weren’t afraid to set them straight. Or maybe it was because you two had some sort of deeper connection. Either way, it sent little red flags up in your head, and you could tell that he had the same warning in his. But there was just something about him that intrigued you and made you feel differently than anyone has ever made you feel. He was always more silent than the others, never really asking for anything for himself from you. Whenever he did need you, it was always for one of the other boys.

Within the first week of working with them, you would catch his glance, sending you into a quickened race of nerves within your body. You would try and admire him from afar. The way his lips formed into a heart shape when he smiles at something Kai said. The way he walks with stride, reserved calamity in every step. The way he pokes fun at his hyungs, particularly Chanyeol. The way he scrunched his eyebrows together when he was concentrating on something important. You try to stop yourself from further observations because nothing further would ever happen. Nothing can happen.

Conversations with each other were initially kept short, quick transactions of minor details. Never anything profoundly exciting, however they still left your heart to skip a beat or two. These small instances were all that you thought you would be able to get out of him, it was wrong to feel this way for someone you’re working for. Wasn’t it? Besides, you thought, you were probably the only one to feel this way. And so, you simply brushed it off, bringing yourself back to reality.

That is, until two days ago.

Two days ago, you and the whole crew were back in Korea for a three day break. You were staying late to catch up on nonsense paperwork in the SM building, alone in the late hours of the night. Or at least you thought you were alone.

You heard a loud rumble on the other side of the wall of the room you were currently in. You hastily got up on your feet, grabbing the closest thing to you that you could find… a new and unwrapped pack of folders. How intimidating, you thought to yourself as you exited the room. You headed for the room beside you, where you heard the noise, hand on the doorknob, heart beat rising. You were about to open the door when it swings open and staring back at you was Kyungsoo.

A huge rush of relief washed over you as you lowered your arm and let out a long breath that you’d been holding in for God knows how long. Looking past Kyungsoo, to where the noise was still going on you noticed was Chanyeol fumbling through boxes.

“Oh god. You guys gave me a heart attack!” You exclaim.

“I can see that.” Kyungsoo says with a slight giggle at the end, nodding towards your dangerous choice of weaponry.

Chanyeol comes up from behind Kyungsoo, looking at you with a smile and eyeing down to your hand where you were still gripping the pack of folders.

“What were you gonna do, Y/N? File us away with those folders?” Chanyeol jokes, causing both boys to laugh and Kyungsoo to nudged Chanyeol away.

“She really should file you away, since you’re being extra annoying today. It would actually make me happy.” Kyungsoo blurts, never really breaking his gaze from you.

His warm dark eyes burning a hole in your sanity, you regained enough consciousness to speak, “so what are you guys doing here, exactly?” You ask, stepping past Kyungsoo and entering the room, tossing the pack of folders on top of one of the many closed boxes occupying the room.

“Chanyeol dragged me out here with him to help him find one of his pieces for his music equipment… or something. I don’t really know what it was that he said, to be honest.” Kyungsoo says, plopping down on an old dark grey colored couch in the middle of the room. This was definitely classified as a junk room, seeing at how many miscellaneous and absurd things were in there, thought to yourself.

“Interesting,” was all you could muster up, still feeling a bit of adrenaline in you. You walked over and plopped yourself on the opposite side of the couch where Kyungsoo sat. He looks over to you and smiles, and there’s that beautiful smile again, you thought.

“Well, I guess it really isn’t here. Hmm. Weird.” Chanyeol says, plopping in between you and Kyungsoo, breaking the gaze that you two were once holding, rather indiscreetly.

“You know what, I think I’m going to go look upstairs. Maybe it’s in one of those rooms.” Chanyeol says with a bit of hopeful cheer in his tone.

“Do you need my help?” Kyungsoo asks, to which Chanyeol simply shakes his head.

“No, hyung. You stay here. Keep Y/N company, we don’t need her getting scared and threatening anyone with a stapler next.” He jokes before heading out the door, closing it behind him.

Chanyeol, knowing the state of Kyungsoo’s feelings towards you, decided to play matchmaker and bravely came up with this whole scheme. He knew you were going to be working here alone, and he knew exactly where he left what he was looking for. But neither you nor Kyungsoo needed to know that.

So now, here you two sat, in the deafening silence of this miscellaneous room, where things go to get lost and never see the light of day. Your heart began to beat a little faster, once more.

“Does he do this often? Dragging you out here in the middle of the night, looking for random things he leaves behind?” You ask, breaking the silence.

Kyungsoo and you lock eyes with each other once more. He smiles, “Not as often as you would think. But yeah, against my own will, especially tonight, have I been dragged back here.”

Kyungsoo is sure that the outline of his heart is now visible through his shirt because that’s just how nervous he was. You don’t know when but the space that was between you two was now gone.

“Y/N,” Kyungsoo starts, and maybe it was because he just needed to say something to distract his heart from ripping through his skin. Or maybe he gained some newfound confidence in this unused room. But he decided to be bold and ask you one question.

“Kyungsoo.” You respond, with a lighthearted smile. Little did you know, you had just made little butterflies appear in his stomach.

“I never really ask you for much, right?” He begins, “so if I ask you for this one thing, will you say no?”

You contemplate his question, a million and one things racing through your head on what he could ask you for. Finally realizing he was still waiting for your answer, you responded.

“I couldn’t say no to you.”

A few more moments of silence passed by, neither of you were really sure as to how much time had gone by.

“Can I kiss you?” He asks. His heart is now in his throat, blood rushing, and his nerves on edge.

You sat there shocked, a sea of emotions flowing through you. Is this really happening? Did you hear him right? Did he really ask that?

“Um,”

Kyungsoo moved closer to you, the air between you two was now both of yours mixed together. Personal space ceased to exist. Every logical part of you knew that this was not okay. You two should not be doing this. But every other part of you knew that this is exactly what you had been longing for. And you wanted it, you needed it.

“Since I first saw you, that day when you walked into our studio, I have not been the same.” He starts to confess, filling the silence and trying to just calm his nerves. “You have occupied every inch of my mind, you’re all I can think about. I don’t know what to do anymore, but to simply hope that it is not just me that feels this way.”

“No.” you blurt out.

“Uh,” He starts, leaning backwards a bit as his hand is rubbing the back of his neck. Thinking you didn’t want this as much as he did, embarrassment washed over him.

Realizing what was happening, you snapped out of it. “No, I mean no. You’re not the only one.”

“Oh.” He says, as you close the gap completely, now. Your hands reach out and caress the side of his face. Your inner desires slowly coming to life. You trace over ever inch of his jaw, his lips and chin. Looking down at you, Kyungsoo leans in and swiftly places his lips on yours.

You are in bliss. His lips are softer than you could have ever imagined, and this kiss was sending you into an eternal field of happiness. This was finally happening.

You two engaged in a heated and long awaited kiss. His hands were caressing your face, as yours found his legs and rubbed them gently. Both of your locked feelings were being laid out here in this room. And it felt so good. That is, until the logical part of your brain started to click. Quickly pulling away, catching your breath and looking into his eyes once more.

“We can’t…” You say, the words stinging the back of your throat as they left your mouth.

As much as it pained you to say them, they hurt Kyungsoo a little bit more because nowhere in your two simple words did he know that you were wrong. You both knew the consequences that would come from this. And your once full and thriving hearts started to slow down, relinquishing in the hard truth.

And so, there you two sat, too much in blissful agony to do or say anything.

Until Harry asks him to a Quidditch match, that is, and things go horribly wrong.This isn’t exactly a raising Scorpius fic, but the adorableness of the parts with Scorp and the fact that the rest of the fic is REALLY FUCKING HOT (and sweet!) make it totally 100% worth reading (at least twice)!

Their lives will never be the same again.Sooo I actually haven’t gotten around to reading this one yet (*sheepish*), but I’ve seen it recced by people I trust, and I suspect I would be remiss to leave it off this list! The summary looks PERFECT.

Muggle Beasts and Where to Find Them by ashindk (8K)- Two single fathers choose the same day to take their children on an outing.AAAH THEY MEET AT A ZOO!!! Harry and Draco are taking their respective kids on a day out at the zoo and they find each other and it’s cute and funny and sweet and FLUFFY and you’ll love it!

The Sun Will Come Out by momatu (36.5K)- Six-year-old Scorpius Malfoy needs a tutor. Several witches and wizards with the best credentials and impeccable background have been hired–then rapidly fired. Enter Harry Potter, who immediately hits it off with Scorpius. It takes a while longer for the Lord of the Manor to come around.Brilliant! I love fics in which one of them bonds with the other’s kid before Harry and Draco can begin to trust each other again (here it’s Harry and Scorpius). Scorpius is an absolutely adorable little boy in this, and teenage Teddy is REALLY SWEET and nice to his cousin and it’s fabulous. 

Like a Real Family by Queenie_Mab (11K)- Harry thought he had all he wanted in life, raising Teddy and being the parent he’s always wanted to be, until he experiences what life with a partner could be like. Now if only Draco wasn’t straight.This fic starts out with Harry, Draco, Teddy, and Scorp already being a happy family… except Harry thinks Draco’s straight (Oh, Harry.) For all you flangst lovers out there ;) 

Our Ordinary Days by lomonaaeren (9K)- Two men, both fathers of sons, meet in a bookshop, and the rest is the kind of history that doesn’t make history. I love when Harry and Draco’s kids meet and hit it off and Drarry have no choice but to hang out all the time and then KISS. Also when Harry helps Draco win custody battles ;D

I too am outraged at the implication that the Volturi are the only superpower in the vampire world, but I'm unspeakably grateful that Meyers didn't pull a Rowling and trying to expand her universe. I'm from India, so I can't speak for other nations, but our relationship with vampires is much different than North America or Europe.

2/4) Actually, our relationship with vampire mythology differs throughout India, so it doesn't make sense to me that the Volturi laws are universal. I actually have 24 pages on Google Docs of elaborate headcanons concerning one particular (unnamed) Indian coven and the Volturi... and let me tell you, being a vampire in Mughal India was wild af and Aro definitely turned Zeb-Un-Nissa during one of the Volturi/Indian Coven bi-annual get-together.

Yeah, I hear you about the potential world-building mess that SM could create if she went in the direction of international vampires. Traces of that awkwardness made it into the text: we get the Amazons from A Mysterious Tribe Without A Name, who are described as “wild” and synonyms thereof, although they’re... really caring and sympathetic? Unless you do your research or have one heck of a patient editor, that reliance on stereotypes will appear in the worst of ways.

Oh my gosh, I’m so intrigued by your Mughal-era coven! (Cards on the table: I may have an overly-glamourized view of the period because my housemates and I watched way too many movies set during that time in undergrad. My housemate-- who was born and educated in Mumbai and is therefore way more knowledgeable-- says that the historical accuracy isn’t bad, and if even 1/10th of the political drama actually happened as depicted, it was one heck of a time to be alive and in power.) In short, please feel free to send along headcanon links/a fic if you choose to post them. It all sounds really cool. 

I love your point re: different regions of India having varying vampire mythologies. It totally makes sense, and I’m fascinated by the factors which shape vampire myths. 

Finally, I grinned when I read Zeb-Un-Nissa’s profile. Point one: she seems like a really cool lady, who deserved a better life than the one she received. Point two: she’s exactly the kind of person Aro would like, given her wide range of talents and intellect. Point three: there’s a parallel to be drawn between her and Sulpicia, since all the famous Sulpicias were poets as well. (I’m undecided as to whether vampire!Sulpicia is related to the poet!Sulpicia, but still.)
