I think, broken down to its essence, learning a language can have three stages/goals, which can but needn't all be reached:

- Goal 1: have enough vocab and grammar to say stuff and have your message be understood

- Goal 2: have the grammar and vocab to say grammatically correct sentences

- Goal 3: be able to do creative/academic writing (meaning: have the skill+vocab to vary writing style according to the text type)

The fact that most European companies treat their non-European employees like shit- despite the fact that Western Europeans enjoy the highest level of workers' rights in the world- just because they can get away with it in the United States or whatever is proof why regulations are needed.

European workers are only treated better than their American counterparts because there are laws protecting them, not because European corporations are so much more humanitarian than American companies. Never forget that under capitalism companies will exploit you for all you're worth and all they can legally get away with.

Made myself sit down and put a fork in it today #I like Jackson Crawford's translation of the Poetic Edda a bit more but Terry's is good #If you didn't know: Sigurd eats the heart of a dragon (Fafnir) and gets some cool powers from it #Sigurd is the same guy as Siegfried in the German stories (which don't seem to focus on the dragon stuff as much..?) #I haven't read as many of the German stories though. The Norse stuff's more my domain
