PLACERES

Me gusta hallar lo que no se halla al punto, sino yace

dentro de algo de distinta índole, en reposo, neto. Cristalinas plumas de gavia, ocultas

en blanca pulpa: los huesos de jibia que extraigo y dispongo hoja con hoja en el escurridor…

ahusados dizque por ser raudos, para pasar el corazón, mas frágiles, sustancia que desmiente su diseño. O tal fruta, el mamey,

estuchada en basta piel marrón, su carne rosa ambarino, y la semilla: la semilla un canto de madera, labrado y

pulido, color de nuez, con la forma de una nuez del Brasil, pero grande, lo bastante grande para llenar la hambrienta palma de una mano.

Me gusta el jugoso tallo de hierba que crece dentro de la hoja más grosera que lo envuelve, y el gualdo fulgor mantecoso en la angosta flauta de donde la ipomea se abre azul y fresca una ardiente mañana.

I decided to keep this one simple: Midday Sun (24 x 24”) is comprised of one of my favourite color combinations: blue and yellow. In this case, it’s mostly periwinkle blue, with deeper tones of that inky, translucent blue that I love (otherwise known as “blue Jean blue”, in my world). The yellow is mellow: shades of butter.
