@just-another-linguist and @melestasflight both requested Fingon which was v exciting. Fingon is one of the characters that really stuck with me the first time I read the Silm, but I’ve never actually drawn him. In my mind this is like a Valinor-era Fingon!

A short thing inspired by @warmblanketwhump‘s post about fever chills that's been in my drafts for way too long 😅
The conversation had become a distant blur of sounds A no longer had the energy to follow; they ceased the polite nods and “mhm”s miles ago, opting instead to sit quietly, gazing out the window at passing scenery with half-lidded eyes while the others chatted around them.
"...'bout you A?" Who? "Think they fell asleep" C gently nudged A's arm and repeated B's question "We're stopping soon, do you want anything?" "No..." They shivered. "...could you turn down the AC?" B's brow furrowed in concern from behind the wheel. "A, the AC is off. You ok?" Now that they though about it, A had been unusually quiet. "Mhm" A mumbled. They were still half-asleep, still exhausted and aching and freezing... but they didn't to ruin the trip. A straightened up in the seat and did their best to keep the next shiver at bay. "Yeah, I'm fine."

Watching Don and Betty parent (together or separately) on Mad Men is so so sad (because I don’t think either of them ever wants to be mean to their kids! I think they both genuinely want to be better than their horrifying parents! The bar is just very very low!) but also kind of funny. It’s like if somebody gave some kids to the most neurotic of the popular junior girls at a private high school and a confident teenage drifter. How do they have a house??? They should be in a road movie about two college freshmen who couldn’t be more different but their boyfriend and girlfriend go to the same college so they carpool and hijinks ensue.

@1batch2batch
Jane had been in New York for three days, and she had already decided that she liked it there. Not only was it a practical environment – it was easy to disappear in a city, to drop off the grid and become nearly invisible – but it was also familiar. A bone-deep part of her knew its rhythm, understood the push and pull of city life.
Yes, she liked New York.
She was perched on the roof of a low-rise, her silhouette disguised by the HVAC unit, watching the building across the street. It was old and more than a little run-down, but a few of the apartments were still occupied. That was good. It meant that the empty apartments might still have electricity and running water.
The entire top floor seemed to be vacant. She had been watching for two days, and no one had come or gone; no lights or silhouettes had been seen. It was silent and dark, and she thought it might be a good place to hide for a night or two. She needed to regroup – to sift through her intel, to do basic maintenance on her arm, to clean herself up and, judging by the way her energy was flagging, to sleep.
When night fell, she decided, she would make her move. But for now, she settled back against the HVAC unit, dug a protein bar out of her bag, and hunkered down to wait.

The Blue Eye of the Storm by MaggieLaFey [NC-17]
Instead of the Scythe, what Buffy finds under the vineyard is a portal to another dimension. Spike has followed her there, and it’s the two of them that will cross the portal… and remain trapped on the other side for far longer than they’d expected. What will happen when the two of them—plus a local guide—are away from the stress of Chez Summers? Will they find some peace in the eye of the storm?

I have an announcement
Boyfriend is no longer my boyfriend
He’s been prompted to fiancé
Tumblr media
He proposed in the middle of a road trip overlooking the beach and it was hilarious. He’s got Zero skills at being sneaky about things so I knew to get my nails done ahead of time. Also he was nervous AF.
So we walk along the beach bridge, I’m taking photos of the sunset, and from behind me he goes “Carter, stop walking now!”, and there he was with the ring.
He did manage to hide that it was my great-great Aunt Gusty’s engagement ring, which he got stones for and had all fancied up and resized.
Anyway. We can’t stop giggling like idiots.

Didn't have to leave the house for work or school today, which was nice because it's pouring rain...but I did need to prevent going stir-crazy, which I did by putting on an extra layer, making tea, and sitting on my roofed porch to start a new Victorian-set mystery series.

I hate feeling like an ad so I will only say this once but if any of you has any experience with self-publishing, I would love to hear from you!! Can be an informal chat on here in the replies or you can dm me. I'm writing an article for one of my courses arguing for the validity of self-publishing, and kind of tying that into a conversation about the demographics of the publishing industry which can be skewed due to racism, classism, etc. so I would love to hear some accounts of how self publishing has gone for people!

[minho x jisung]
coming in like the ocean (sneak waves) by glissandos (1/1 | 19,107 | T)
“I’m never sitting in a car with you again,” Minho teases, and Jisung laughs loudly, brashly, the sound half echoing around the car and half whisked away by the wind brushing their open windows. “Unfortunately, like you said,” Jisung retorts, “You’re stuck with me in this car the whole week.” Minho snorts and glances at Jisung’s hands, now dutifully wrapped around the steering wheel. Truth be told, Minho would definitely sit in a car with Jisung again, and they both know it. The sentiment holds especially true here—with a boisterously-grinning Jisung to his left and the rolling blue Pacific to his right, there’s nowhere else he’d rather be. (Two best friends, the summer before Minho’s last year of college, and a thousand miles on the road.)
