ALT. Whumptober #13- Stabbed

“M’sorry! I’m sorry, I’m sorry, m’so-sorry!” He sputter over and over, the tears cascading down his face were making it harder to see what he was doing. Crap, he didn’t even know what the hell he was doing. All he knew is there was fresh blood in his hands, and they kept getting stained the more he tried to cover the wounds. Not just his hands, but his clothes and his pants. The blood was quickly pooling under them, and he didn’t need to be a doctor to know that was bad. Not to mention the slashes

Chase had run in looks for a med-kit, but even if he found it he didn’t know how to properly use it. It was always Henrik that did this. He was always here to patch them up, but Chase was useless in that department. Doc never really got a chance to teach him how to properly take care of a stab— of multiple stab wounds. All he knew was that the blood needed to stay in the body.

What will Henrik think if he found out he failed?

“Please don’t die, please don’t die. Please.” Chase begged desperately as he sloppily pressed gauze to the wound, bandaging it up in a way he’d know Henrik would be so disappointed. No, he’d be disgusted. Disgusted and horrified if he found out he was the one that stabbed the hero…

No, it wasn’t him. It was that cursed demon. It took control of his body, of his mind. It stole his limbs and did this to Jackie, not him… Chase would never hurt Jackie— He wouldn’t hurt anyone. Yet, the evidence that laid before him said otherwise. The father’s stomach twisted in knots, he could feel anxiety induced nausea creeping in. He wanted to throw up, he wanted to pass out and wake up from this nightmare. Wake up and find Jackie sleeping on the couch cause he got home a few hours ago from patrol. He wanted the doc back, walking and passing while skillfully twirling a pen between his fingers.

Why can’t things be like the used to…

‘The first step to any big emergency should always be to call the 911 number, yes? Never forget that, Chase.’

The memory came rushing to him, like a ray of light in the dense fog surrounding him. Trembling hands fish for his phone from his pocket, trembling, bloodied fingers staining the screen crimson red as he unlocked and called the emergency number. The father is quick to toss it to the floor while it rings and rings, going back to putting pressure on the wounds. As he did, Jackie coughed up blood. Wheezing while struggling to catch a small gulp of air. Why didn’t Chase think of this sooner?! If Jackie died… Jackie can’t die…

“911, what’s your emergency?”

“I need an a-ambulance! P-Please! He… He’s b-bleeding! A-And it’s my fault!”
