TASTE TEST is the first full album from fictional boy group CHERRYADE, released both physically and digitally on 18 MARCH 2022. it consists of nine tracks, along with a short outro, and took the group’s concept in a more mature-feeling direction, with many an innuendo made in the lyrics and countless sensual looks thrown towards the camera while performing their similarly intimate choreography live. a new record of 1M copies were sold, as well as two music show wins awarded. in the minds of the public, this era is usually remembered for the dating rumours, the opening of the boys’ separate instagram accounts (with almost immediate leaks of messages & photos from said accounts), and far too many hip-thrusts.

°⠀some pieces on this project weren’t so generally well-received as the five from DOUBLE DIP. most went down completely fine, both the public and a few critics here and there citing them as good—or listenable, at least—but DANCE and DON’T YOU KNOW? in particular didn’t receive the same treatment. they were written off as useless noise tracks and from general consensus are understood to be the least popular on the album by far. still, despite their bad reception, the rest of the album was agreed to have again solidified the mood & concept of this new era: exactly the more mature, alluring one that ALL DAY back on DOUBLE DIP prophesised it to be.

°⠀and god, did the members take the words ‘mature & alluring’ and run with them. all live performances (DRIFTING, GIMME, and TAKE IT OFF being the ones performed the most) seemed like a competition for who could give the camera the most fuck-me eyes, or who could incorporate the most suggestive movements into the already-suggestive choreography. they ran bets backstage for who would end up with the most revealing outfit, and every time DOYEON said “what if something rips open?” he had to cough up ₩100.

°⠀since the public had loosened their suspicions on whether the seven all hated each other or not after how perfectly civil they all seemed during DOUBLE DIP, JAGUAR saw this as a chance to put them out in public and send them off on group schedules and released behind videos far more than the sparse amount of extra content than they had previously, now that they were sure nobody was going to spend hours trying to pick it apart in search for signs that things weren’t all as friendly as they seemed. the group made appearances on more variety shows, took part in more interviews, and a few vlogs of the member’s daily routines or fun off-schedule outings even started popping up on their youtube—GOGO and JAEHEE being the ones that uploaded the most.

°⠀again, though, it wouldn’t be a proper era without all the scandals that came with it. first came the few dating rumours, first centred around JALEN and former BONSOIR member JIYEOL after they were spotted leaving leaving a club together, then later DOYEON and an unnamed man who was revealed to just be a producer at JAGUAR. neither were taken all that seriously (and neither had any truth in them), and so JAGUAR never released any statements addressing either of them.

°⠀the next thing that landed them in a bit of hot water was shortly after the creation of their separate instagram accounts. they’d been up & running for about a month before an anonymous account leaked alleged messages between YIJUN, GOGO, and HAEIL. the messages themselves weren’t anything particularly special (although there was a few instances where YIJUN was seen speaking ill of both JAGUAR and JAEHEE) but the images being released at all only made the perfect opportunity for them to be edited to make the three of them guilty of saying anything under the sun. JAGUAR did come forward to make a statement on this, although they put the blame on the person who had leaked the messages and came to the defence of the trio instead of condemning them as some had wanted.

°⠀despite the downs, TASTE TEST was another success-filled era for the seven. their name was slowly & steadily growing, becoming more & more well known, and that was a fact that JAGUAR couldn’t be happier about. it seemed that what had initially been their last-ditch attempt was in the running to become one of their best ones yet.

ok let’s just get this straight:

- sprite =/= lemonade. anyone who thinks sprite is lemonade is just factually wrong as sprite is lemon-lime flavoured.

- in british english & some other dialects ‘lemonade’ by default refers to lemon soda. the -ade suffix here means ‘soda’. lemonade = lemon soda, cherryade = cherry soda, etc. this is a linguistic difference and it is nbd.

- we do also have non-soda lemonade & unfortunately the whole situation is a little confusing as we call both ‘lemonade’! it is less common here & is regarded as kind of a fancy beverage. it’s generally called ‘still lemonade’ and is available in both restaurants and supermarkets.

- making lemonade from scratch is also less common here. i’d venture that this has something to do w historical levels of lemon availability (possibly due to them becoming unavailable during WWII?) but honestly i don’t know. however, it’s not by any means unknown (some UK recipes: Delicious magazine, Tesco, Delia Smith)

- i have no idea why some british people purport to have not understood what US media meant when talking about ‘making lemonade’ lmao. i do not remember ever not knowing what homemade lemonade is.

- fun fact!! bcos making lemonade at home is uncommon here, if you do it for UK friends they will be Wowed at your beverage making skills. go forth and impress people. :3

CHERRYADE: TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? Song Kyumin. Jul 1, 2021.

JAGUAR have emerged from their two-year period of almost complete radio silence with news that has shocked many—or perhaps a little less than many, because you can’t really expect to rise from the dead and still have millions of fans at your beck and call, ready to lap up any scraps you throw them. A new boy group is on the way, and their name is CHERRYADE. Something too sweet to drink all in one go, but too carbonated to sit on the tongue comfortably after just one sip. It seems rather on-brand for a company that has so far fed us one group that hated each other’s guts, one soloist who kicked the chair after one (1) album that tanked, and a duo who I’m still not sure were hate-fucking or making attempts on the other’s life every time the camera turned.

This time, though, they’re not unveiling their (sure-to-be devastatingly attractive) members one-by-one from wherever they’d been hiding them, as per the last three attempts. Neither are they shoving their undebuted faces in our faces with countless social media accounts or endlessly boring introduction videos. Instead, JAGUAR have made the decision to protect the idol-environment and reuse some of our past favourites, taking them from one unknown group to another. Aren’t we lucky.

This isn’t a new (or even particularly exciting) concept. You may recognise the formula from STRMRUNNER Media, who chose trainees from only the top companies to shove together in a now-superstar group named SO(U)L. JAGUAR CEO Ae Seungdae must have witnessed the success the seven have seen and decided he wanted a piece of the pie. They even share the same amount of members. But I doubt they’ll be greeting each other at any music shows or posting any cutesy selcas on Twitter, because some of the boys selected for this ‘supergroup’ of sorts aren’t known to be the nicest.

First, JAGUAR reached out to FNC and asked if they would miss SLOW MOTION’s leader KIL DOYEON terribly. The answer must’ve been no, as he’s rumoured to be the appointed leader of CHERRYADE also. Next on the list was METRONOME MEDIA’s DUAN JIEYANG (more commonly known as DJ) and JEON HAEIL from almost-forgotten group ALGORHYTHM, who had been in hot water previously for alleged physical fights breaking out between leader DAEHOON and youngest LEVI—who, funnily enough, left the group and ended up in SLOW MOTION not long after.

The higher-ups didn’t have to look too hard for the next couple of members, as they were right there in their pockets anyway. QIAO YIJUN and AHN JAEHEE (once an actor) from BONSOIR were next on the roster, and the general consensus on that was that it was certainly an.. interesting choice to make. They were the two that seemed to despise each other the most, after all. 

Next is one that may surprise some. HWAN MINHUI (or GOGO, as many know and love him as) was recruited from SM’s smallest sub-unit NCT DRIFT. Reactions were mixed, but the largest question of all was why. Alas, it doesn’t seem like JAGUAR is going to be holding a press conference anytime soon to answer that burning inquiry. There’s far too much on their plates for that, what with trying to get all these complete strangers to act civil with each other and all.

The last member of CHERRYADE is the only new face that we’re receiving. Not much is known about him except his name, LEE HASUN, and that he’s the youngest of the lot. Let’s hope he doesn’t receive the same treatment as JAEHEE did, because otherwise this ‘supergroup’ might last even less time than all of JAGUAR’s other ventures combined. And we wouldn’t want that, of course. Or would we?

Whatever the public may think of them, the one thing that is certain is that JAGUAR won’t care. Their age old motto of ‘any press is good press’ has lasted them far too long for them to be doing anything like reassessing their values or realigning their morals. Hell, some have even been saying that accused nepo baby BONSOIR manager HONG JAEYOUNG has found his new place as CHERRYADE’s handler, so from that alone it doesn’t sound like they’re going to be off to a spectacularly great start public-opinion wise.

The group are making their debut on August 1st, 2021—a mere month from now. What they’re releasing is still a mystery (a single? An EP? A mini-album? I’m as clueless as you are), but what we do know is that it’s going to be called DOUBLE DIP. I can vaguely glean the concept they’re going for from the name alone. Teeth-rotting, sugary goodness. The type of stuff that makes your mouth feel heady and vision swim. Or your ears bleed, depending on your opinion on the type of music that JAGUAR has put out thus far. Their styling seems to be heading in the same direction, as the explosion of colour that makes up their seconds-long teaser video is reminiscent of a handful of candy scooped up into the hands of an eager child.

CHERRYADE marks JAGUAR’s fourth attempt at an idol presence. Most of the hard work has been done for them, what with them lifting most of the members from other groups, but that in no way means they won’t meet the same failed fate as all of their predecessors. I feel that most deciding to follow the group will be doing so more out of morbid curiosity rather than genuine excitement for the content they’ll produce, and music they’ll put out. Right now they seem more like a ticking time bomb set to explode in an array of violently bright colours and burnt sugar than a group of boys that’ll be loved by the masses.

But maybe I’m wrong. Maybe CHERRYADE will be the success JAGUAR has so sorely been wanting, and for more reasons than how many times they’ve been caught smoking or leaving shady love hotels in the earliest hours of the morning. Maybe the seven will actually grow to like each other, and they’ll replace the previous reputation they held—of catty and spiteful boys who were there for the money and to make the lives of people they didn’t like as unpleasant as possible—with one that paints them as genuine, likeable people. We’ll just have to wait and see.

DOUBLE DIP. Whatever it turns out to be, it’s dropping August 1st, 2021, at 2PM KST. Do make sure to tune in, if you want to see what all the fuss is about.

Or don’t. I suppose I wouldn’t blame you.

February 2nd: Surprise Picnic

Dui smiled to himself as he checked over the basket of food once more. He hoped he hadn’t forgotten anything from the article he had seen about picnics a while back. If he had he could technically summon stuff later but once they were on their date he wanted it to be completely normal. He would have done everything without powers in the first place but food preparation took a lot of time and at least a part of him wanted to make sure he spent as long as possible with his wife.

His smile widened at that thought. It was not long since Heaven’s Rift had enabled them to actually get married, and this was actually the first time since then he’d been down on Earth long enough to do something for ___ . They’d occasionally spent some time together in the Heavens, and even the occasional evening at the Mansion, but he couldn’t remember the last time they’d been on a full outing.

Hurry it up, if you keep reminiscing like this we’re gonna waste the time we do have with ___, then you could have made this stuff in the first place.

Alright, we’re going, Dui reassured his other side, before picking the picnic basket up.

When ___ opened the door to her apartment after hearing someone knock, her eyes widened in surprise. “Dui! You didn’t mention being able to come here at any point this week!”

Dui smiled softly at her as he stepped inside. “I didn’t want to get your hopes up,” he murmured gently, but as his hand caressed her face his eyes widened and he grinned, “‘Sides, I wanted to surprise you. Go get ready.”

“Ready?” ___ asked, frowning a little.

“What do you think this is, dummy?” Dui teased, nodding to the basket on his arm.

___’s eyes widened. “We’re going on a picnic?”

“That is the idea, yes,” Dui muttered, then looked down as his expression faltered into one of unease. “Unless you don’t like them or it’s somehow a problem.”

“No of course not!” ___ tried to reassure quickly, hugging her husband. “I’d love to go on a picnic with you. Just let me find something a little warmer to wear.”

Later, in the park, they both sat down on the picnic blanket that Dui had laid out. Wrapping an arm around ___ , he lifted the lid of the basket with the other. The sweet aroma of cherries filled the air.

___ leant her head contently on his shoulder with a smile, not at all surprised at the type of food he had packed. She picked up a sandwich filled with cherry jam whilst Dui cut himself a piece of cherry pie. 

They then talked for a while about their work week whilst enjoying the food.

“...Don't you want to taste anything other than cherries?” ___ asked him after a while.

Dui put the plate of fresh cherries he'd been eating from down, a mischievous expression crossing his face. “Well there is one thing,” he answered, before pulling her into a deep and loving kiss.

Dropping her glass of cherryade in surprise, ___ blushed deeply and pushed him back a little. “Dui, we're in public.”

“Meh, who cares?” He grumbled with a pout. “Besides, I can't see anyone.

Looking around, ___ relaxed a little as she realised there wasn't any activity elsewhere in the park, then blinked as she realised the light was fading. “How long have we been here for?”

“I'm not sure,” Dui murmured, smiling softly now. “Does it matter?”

“No,” ___ murmured, “I was just surprised it was getting dark already. We're not going to be able to see much soon.”

Dui sighed. “Oh you're right…” He hadn't wanted to use any powers whilst with her but there was still something he wanted to do. Deciding that spending time with his wife was more important than not using his powers, Dui snapped his fingers.

The sky lit up with brightly shining stars. 

___ looked up, smiling brightly at the sight, but then glanced at him with slight worry. “Won’t other people notice?”

“I’m sure they’ll just think it’s an exceptionally clear night. Just for a little bit won’t hurt.” Dui then looked away from her.

“Dui?” ___ asked softly, taking his hand in her own. “You seem distracted. Was there a reason why you wanted to stay out here a little longer?”

“I… well…” Dui mumbled, suddenly feeling rather awkward, worried she’d think this was silly. 

We’ve been through this. Do I have to do it myself?

No!

Taking a deep breath to relax, Dui looked back up at ___ and smiled warmly, before getting a small box out of his pocket. 

___’s eyes widened. “Wait… but if that’s what I think it is, why…”

“I’ve been reading up on human customs,” Dui murmured softly, squeezing her hand. “We’ve already done the one in the Heavens but you’re still living down here. Remember when we were mistaken for Newlyweds? I’d like that to happen down here and we can actually say that it’s right.”

“... Dui…”

Dui opened the box to reveal a ring engraved with the Gemini constellation on a silver chain. “I figured this was best as you already have the ring from the fountain on your finger but… ___, will you marry me?”

“My answer to that will never change,” ___ responded, her voice barely a whisper in case there was anyone else around. “Yes. I still want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Placing the chain around her neck, Dui then pulled her close into a tender embrace before kissing her.

"And if I don't?" 

"If you don't, we'll have a problem." the imposing presence of Jungkook makes itself known next to her. 

She feels his hand on her lower back, his fingertips sending a slight shiver up her spine even through the thin fabric of her dress. Y/n glances to him, he's an epitome of perfection, from the top of his styled hair to his formal suit, but his eyes are fixed on Taehyung in a challenging stare. 

Taehyung has the inclination to say something, it's clear this is not his first encounter with Jungkook. He doesn't in the end, swallowing a discontented gulp of his glass before walking away. 

"Are you okay?" Jungkook's head swivels to her. 

"I'm fine." she discreetly puts some distance between herself and the dark haired man, still avoiding to look him in the eyes. It's like he has such piercing gaze, searching for an inkling inside her that she's foreign to...

"Come, let's get you a drink. Don't just stand there all night." he grabs her wrist, not bothering with her evasion of him.

Her options are limited, she lets him maneuver her through the hallway and to a calm place in the foyer.

Jungkook whispers an order to one of the maids, not a minute later the woman's return bringing an iced, red colored drink with her on a tray that is unlike the champagne most other guests consume.

"I don't want alcohol."

"It's not. It's a cherryade receipe from Greece."

Satisfied with that explanation, Y/n accepts the glass, taking a few sips. The taste of sourcherries mixes a combination of sour, bitter and sweet, its fruity perfume offering it an aromatic taste. "Do you travel? Some of the items in the mansion are originar to other countries from Europe."

"You noticed?" he muses at her keen sense of observation. "Not anymore. I used to travel before old man Franco died and I inherited the mansion. I have to take care of business here." though that's not the entire truth.

"Aunt Charlotte told us you got your doctorate to the best university in France, why stay here when you could have become a successful businessman somewhere in a big city?"

"This island has sentimental value to me." his gaze dips upon her while she's glimpsing over the attendees of the party. 

Y/n sees how it lingers on the curve of her neck from the corner of her eye, his irises darkening imperceptively, and she's shaken back to reality: even if he comes off as an ordinary man, it doesn't change the peculiarity of last night's scene.

"I know this might offend you, but please stay away from my sister." she hands him the drink, finally confronting the unspoken issue. "She's interested in you but if you have ill intentions, I ask you to think carefully about this. I will not let you harm my family in any way."

Jungkook chuckles. "Brave little thing, aren't you?" his touch is edged with the tug of his lips upward, stroking a strand of her hair between his thumb and index finger. "Pretty, too..."

Her brows knit, he's not taking her seriously, yet it's not just because she's a girl.

It's because she's unaware of many things.

"But are you really worried for your sister or for yourself?" he towers over her, once again messing her unyielding composure. "Do you want me to stay away from her...or from you?"

I kind of wanted to have some kind of Halloween drink mixed with pilk today, but I couldn't get my hands on anything interesting in time. We might get something next week, though. As a late Halloween thing. But anyway, this week we're making

Cherryilk

It's not very obvious from the picure, but it's got a slight pink tinge to it - and it smells very promising.

Damn, that's really good. It's got a taste like a smooth cherry sweet-- like a cherry bonbon in liquid form. I honestly didn't expect the cherry to be so present, but it's really making the drink.

10/10, I might just start drinking all cherryade like this.
