Watching The Pacific and Band of Brothers with Momo @cielo-chii and she comes up with some accurate and hilarious nicknames (in Italian) for the characters:

Gene Sledge is Soffio (blow, mostly because we translate ‘heart murmur’ with ‘soffio al cuore’ and the fact that he had an heart condition apparently made Momo worry about him all through the series)

John Basilone is Giovanni (OF COURSE. He Italian.) Dick Winters is Lampo (flash, for the ‘flash!’ ‘thunder!’ scene in ep 2) but he’s also Marito (husband) when Altro Marito (other husband, Lewis Nixon) is involved Albert Blithe is Nuvola (cloud, he literally is introduced looking at clouds)

Easy Company is Pulcini (chicks or ducklings, ‘cause they’re numerous and they’re small and must be protected at all costs)

Babe Heffron is Ed or Eduardo (I have no explanations for the last one)

(Italians are very supertitious people and we surely have a lot of very odd superstitions. One of those, suggested by my lady @cielo-chii and my sis @gaiayukari85, is that when someone accidentally brushes your feet with a broom, you won’t get married. Apparently - Google says - it’s a twist from an older belief: it only applies to women and the one who doesn’t get married is the one who brushes on others’ feet... nice to know I guess...)
