CSE post 2/2
The below text is from a pamphlet handed out by my grandma’s church to get their members to attend school board meetings to block Sex education.
Needless to say this is bad and will cause so much harm.
8. PROMOTES EARLY SEXUAL AUTONOMY Teaches children they can choose to have sex when they feel they are ready or when they find a trusted partner. Fails to provide data about the well-documented negative consequences of early sexual debut. Fails to encourage sexually active children to return to abstinence. 9. FAILS TO ESTABLISH ABSTINENCE AS THE EXPECTED STANDARD Fails to establish abstinence (or a return to abstinence) as the expected standard for all school-age children. May mention abstinence only in passing. May teach children that all sexual activity-other than "unprotected" vaginal and oral sex- is acceptable, and even healthy. May present abstinence and "protected" sex as equally good options for children. 10. PROMOTES TRANSGENDER IDEOLOGY Promotes affirmation of and/or exploration of diverse gender identities. May teach children they can change their gender or identify as multiple genders, or may present other unscientific and medically inaccurate theories. Fails to teach that most gender-confused children resolve their confusion by adulthood and that extreme gender confusion is a mental health disorder (gender dysphoria) that can be helped with mental health intervention. 11. PROMOTES CONTRACEPTION / ABORTION TO CHILDREN Presents abortion as a safe or positive option while omitting data on the many potential negative physical and mental health consequences. May teach children they have a right to abortion and refer them to abortion providers. May encourage the use of contraceptives, while failing to present failure rates or side effects. 12. PROMOTES PEER-TO-PEER SEX ED OR SEXUAL RIGHTS ADVOCACY May train children to teach other children about sex or sexual pleasure, through peer-to-peer initiatives. May recruit children as spokespeople to advocate for controversial sexual rights (including a right to CSE itself or to promote abortion. 13. UNDERMINES TRADITIONAL VALUES AND BELIEFS May encourage children to question their parents' beliefs or their cultural or religious values regarding early sex, sexual orientation or gender identity. 14. UNDERMINES PARENTS OR PARENTAL RIGHTS May instruct children they have rights to confidentiality and privacy from their parents. May teach children about accessing sexual commodities or services, including abortion, without parental consent. May instruct children not to tell their parents what they are being taught about sex in school. 15. REFERS CHILDREN TO HARMFUL RESOURCESRefers children to harmful websites, materials or outside entities. May also specifically refer children to Planned Parenthood or their affiliates or partners for their lucrative services or commodities (i.e., sexual counseling, condoms, contraceptives, gender hormones, STI testing and treatment, abortions, etc.) Please Note: A conflict of interest exists whenever an entity that profits from sexualizing children is involved in creating or implementing sex education programs. (For more information on how Planned Parenthood sexualizes children for profit see www.WaronChildren.org and www.InvestigateIPPF.org)

There’s some articles going around about how it “may” ban girls from talking about their periods. But there is no “may” about it.
Democratic state Rep. Ashley Gantt noted that young girls could start their periods earlier than sixth grade and asked for clarification on whether the bill would ban those girls from talking about them.
“Does this bill prohibit conversations about menstrual cycles because we know that typically, the age is between 10 and 15,” Gantt asked. “So if little girls experience their menstrual cycle in fifth grade or fourth grade, would that prohibit conversations from them since they are in a grade lower than sixth grade?”
McClain confirmed that the bill’s language would do exactly that: “It would” McClain responded.
I got my period at 10 years old. I’m so thankful that just a few months prior I received sex education—full, comprehensive sex education at a Catholic school, no less—that allowed me to understand what was happening and exactly why.
We keep asking what “woke” means to legislators, and by extension what “anti-woke” means. They have proven anti-woke means anti-history, anti-trans, anti-gay, and now anti-little girls too.
There is no need to limit girls talking about their period. You know how many girls get it at school and need the help of a female teacher? A girl’s body doesn’t wait for the Florida government to approve her menarche.

Abortion IS a way of handling pregnancy and potential pregnancy.
No one is obligated to carry to term. Viability isn't periviability.
No one can use another's body to sustain life.
Zygotes, blastocyst, embryos and fetuses are not babies, children or adults.
Reproductive healthcare and decisions ARE responsibility. "The state of being responsible, answerable or accountable for something in ones power, control or management."
People's private personal decisions do not need to be answered for to or by strangers. Regardless of if said strangers feel transgressed against and think accountability for sex is carrying out a pregnancy.
They have been wronged in no way. It is not for them to have power, control or management of.
This has nothing to do with responsibility, right to privacy or bodily autonomy. It boils down to personal feelings, positions and judgments.

Illinois Youth Write Sex-Ed Handbook
Fed Up With Incomplete Courses, Illinois Youth Write Sex-Ed Handbook
Illinois youth have taken sexual health education into their own hands with a group-written handbook. “Shattering the Taboo” is the title of a sex education handbook written by a coalition of Chicago students, meant to help de-stigmatize teaching what teenagers need to know about their bodies, their choices, and their options. The Sex Ed Initiative (SEI), which wrote the book, is a youth-led…

You know, if lowering or preventing abortions is actually the goal, instead of punishing the pregnant person try this.
Fun facts about teaching comprehensive sex education in public schools:
With proper sex education and giving teens access to birth control, even without parental consent, teens with those available resources are getting pregnant in historically record low numbers consistently since 2013. In fact, abortions for the entire local democratic with those same resources to free sex education and birth control are also reporting at record lows. If zygotes are people, sex education literally saves lives.
It been repeatedly proven that fully informing teens about the risks of sexual activity that can result unwanted pregnancies, along with teaching about safe sex and then giving them access to birth control, gives them the tools they need to make informed choices about their own bodies. Abstinence only “education” on the other hand has been a dismal failure in every model. Teens who have not been taught about their bodies, and how sex is directly related to reproduction, make uninformed choices.
It is succinct to say that denying access to the information and tools needed to make informed decisions regarding bodily autonomy and reproduction costs lives: both the pregnancy, and far too often the people directly involved.
Access to comprehensive sex education is also a proven crime prevention tool. Informed reproductive choices and access to birth control methods directly results in less children born to parents who don’t have the resources or ability to care for them. In turn, that also means less children end up in the foster care system.
Children ending up in the system radically contributes to an increase in youth criminal activity. Studies have shown that there is a strong correlation between the children in the foster care system and increases in both violent and nonviolent crimes. Foster youth are much more likely than their peers to be arrested. This is then perpetuated by the metaphorical “school to prison pipelines” where these teens are set up for failure. If they are in turn denied comprehensive sex education and the tools needed to prevent unwanted pregnancies, they are thereby contributing to the overwhelmingly large percentage of people in their demographic who also didn’t have access to resources regarding reproduction and so unwittingly self-perpetuate the brutal cycle.
Access to comprehensive sex education means less teen pregnancies. Less teen pregnancies equates to less abortions as well as less children entering into a broken system.
Teaching kids about sex is crucial. It’s life saving, life altering, and contributes to positive social changes.
Isn’t that fascinating?

I’ve only seen the first few episode, and I adore the representation in Baymax! like anyone else, but I specifically love that it is set up perfectly to showcase the intersection of physical health with other factors in life and mental health.
1. The way that health intersects with factors like age, wealth, etc. A working single mom who can not take the time to get better without a risk to her finance. Older people that are aging into disability. Young people starting to learn about their bodies
and 2. The intersection of physical health to mental health. Every episode so far has involved some conversation about physical health coinciding with mental health like stress and trauma. It’s not just about Cass’s physically sprained ankle, it’s about the way her injury causes her duress and how to fix that too. About how to help someone overcome their inability to back to a place that reminds them of someone they lost so they can better take care of themselves. How to take care of your physical health during a period, and how to cope with the idea of change and youth.
It’s beautiful!

Gym teacher/Music teacher Steddie au where they meet because Steve teaches sex ed and Eddie helps run the DARE program and they’re both supposed to teach that drugs and sex are never okay, but they both get in trouble for actually educating their students on how to be safe if anything ever happens.

I am asking this as a female: Where is the female G-spot? TMI but I only stimulate my clitoris when masturbating so I have no effing clue where it would be and looking it up hasn't really helped me.
It doesn't exist! But it is said to be below the pubic bone, so if you're on your back, it's a few inches in and up. Hook your finger, they say it's there.
I think the most accepted explanation for any increased sensation someone may or may not experience is that that area may be near part of the clitoris. The clit is actually a lot bigger than most people realize!
Tumblr media
And I also found a good side-by-side for the penis and the clit. After all, they're the same tissue!

(Colorful not-exactly-anatomically-correct photos in hopes Tumblr doesn't smite me!)

CSE Post 1/2
The war on sex education is a heinous action that deliberately works to keep teenagers uninformed and without the resources necessary to make informed decisions.
The below text is from a pamphlet handed out by my grandma’s church to get their members to attend school board meetings to block Sex education.
Growing up queer without the words to express myself has caused so much pain and suffering. Please stand up against this.
15 Harmful Elements of CSE COMPREHENSIVE SEX EDUCATION THE HARMFUL EFFECT ON CHILDREN The following are 15 harmful elements typically found in CSE curricula. Since each of these 15 harmful elements has the potential of causing long-term negative effects on the health and well-being of children, having even one of these elements should be reason enough to disqualify a program from being taught to children. A program containing several of these elements should be banned from use in any school or community setting. 1. SEXUALIZES CHILDREN Normalizes child sex or desensitizes children to sexual things. May give examples of children having sex or imply many of their peers are sexually active. May glamorize sex, use graphic materials, teach explicit sexual vocabulary, or encourage discussion of sexual experiences, attractions, fantasies or desires. 2. TEACHES CHILDREN TO CONSENT TO SEX May teach children how to negotiate sexual encounters or how to ask for or get "consent" from other children to engage in sexual acts with them. Note: "Consent" is often taught under the banner of sexual abuse prevention. While this may be appropriate for adults, children of minor age should never be encouraged to "consent" to sex. 3. NORMALIZES ANAL & ORAL SEX Normalizes these high-risk sexual behaviors and may omit vital medical facts, such as the extremely high STI infection rates (i.e., HIV and HPV) and the oral and anal cancer rates of these high-risk sex acts. 4. PROMOTES HOMOSEXUAL / BISEXUAL BEHAVIOR Normalizes or promotes acceptance or exploration of diverse sexual orientations, sometimes in violation of state education laws. May omit vital health information and/or may provide medically inaccurate information about homosexuality or homosexual sex. 5. PROMOTES SEXUAL PLEASURE Teaches children they are entitled to or have a "right" to sexual pleasure or encourages children to seek out sexual pleasure. Fails to present data on the multiple negative potential outcomes for sexually active children. 6. PROMOTES SOLO AND/OR MUTUAL MASTURBATION While masturbation can be part of normal child development, encourages masturbation at young ages, which may make children more vulnerable to pornography use, sexual addictions or sexual exploitation. May instruct children on how to masturbate. May also encourage children to engage in mutual masturbation. 7. PROMOTES CONDOM USE IN INAPPROPRIATE WAYS May inappropriately eroticize condom use (e.g., emphasizing sexual pleasure or "fun" with condoms) or use sexually explicit methods (i.e., penis and vagina models, seductive role plays, etc.) to promote condom use to children. May provide medically inaccurate information on condom effectiveness and omit or deemphasize failure rates. May imply that condoms will provide complete protection against pregnancy or STIs.

I really appreciate the dynamic between Cyno and Tighnari at the end of Cyno's quest.
Cyno: I tracked down all 300 smugglers and sent them to jail so they can't harm anyone ever again >:(
Tighnari: :) ok, so that doesn't actually work :) I've already sent Collei out though in order to educate people on the dangers of this easily-obtainable and highly-coveted tool and how to use it safely if they're going to use it anyway :)

Youth Empowerment: Key Components of Sex Education
Sex education is a vital aspect of our overall well-being, providing individuals with knowledge and understanding to make informed decisions about their sexual health and relationships. In general, I think it's currently really important for progressive Christians to be very loud about being both progressive and deeply religious Christians, and for everyone else fighting for progressive values to be supportive of them doing just that. I know that's like, idk, counter-intuitive or cringe or whatever, but seriously folks, the alternative is that progressive Christians have to be quiet about their faith to be accepted within broader secular and interfaith progressive advocacy, which means that the regressive asshole Christians (a) sound that much louder and (b) dominate the USian religious landscape all the more. That's a problem, for all of us.
We need people pushing back within the faith as well as outside of it, because that destroys any edifice that this is about Christianity and religious freedom.
You can be a devout Christian and also:
Openly, proudly, and without being forced to remain celibate or otherwise limit your full expression of self, identify as LGBTQ+ or be a supportive ally.
Advocate for full reproductive autonomy and comprehensive sex education.
Love and support people of other religious groups, non-religious people and/or atheists, by choosing to believe that a truly loving God would not pursue anything less than universal salvation.
Stand against evangelism and proselytizing as they have thus far been interpreted and used, because there are ways to interpret the Great Commission that don't promote colonialism and cultural genocide.
A steward of the earth, protecting God's beautiful creation and lovingly tending to it as the unique and incredible gift that it is.
A believer in science, rationalism, and human progress as part of God's divine plan for humanity.
A believer in history and someone who understands that the Bible can be both divinely given and open to interpretation (no really)(if you're confused, please talk to a knowledgeable traditional Jew)
An ally to Jews, who stands against supercessionism and antisemitism in the church.
And in before regressive Christians come shouting at me that (1) what do I know, I'm a Jew and (2) no lol you can't because of ___ reason:
My source is that I've personally met and talked to Christians of great faith and integrity - people who embody the closest forms of kindness I've seen to what Jesus himself advocated - who are each of these things.
It is 100% possible; you just choose to believe otherwise.

LGBTQ+ organizations and allies are celebrating Michigan for becoming the first state in three years to pass comprehensive anti-discrimination protections for sexual orientation and gender identity. The legislation, which now heads to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) to be signed into law, finally passed after decades of court battles and hold-ups from Republican legislators.
The bill passed in a 64-45 vote in the Democrat-led House on Wednesday. It amends the state’s 1976 Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act (ELCRA) to include LGBTQ+ people among its protected groups. The law forbids discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodation within businesses, government buildings, and educational facilities on the basis of religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, familial status, marital status — and now, LGBTQ+ identity.
Democrats had tried introducing various LGBTQ+ non-discrimination measures over the last 40 years, according to the bill’s gay sponsor Sen. Jeremy Moss (D). However, the attempts were repeatedly voted down by Republican-led legislatures. Last January, Democrats took control of the full legislature for the first time in nearly 40 years, finally giving them the chance to pass the protections.
In July 2022, Michigan’s Supreme Court issued a landmark 5–2 ruling that ELCRA already forbade discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity as forms of discrimination based on sex and gender. This followed a 2020 Michigan Court of Claims ruling that said ELCRA didn’t ban anti-gay discrimination as well as a 2018 vote by Michigan’s Civil Rights Commission interpreting ELCRA as protecting LGBTQ+ people from religious-based discrimination...
When the House voted to pass the historic bill on Wednesday, a crowd in the House gallery broke into applause, Bridge Michigan reported. Republican House members had tried adding amendments that would’ve carved out exceptions for religious people to continue discriminating against LGBTQ+ people. None of these amendments passed into the final bill.
Gov. [Whitmer] has signaled that she will soon sign the bill into law. In a Wednesday tweet, she noted the observation of International Women’s Day and wrote, “I’m celebrating trans women who have continuously led the way, despite constant threats to their lives and liberty. I’m proud that we’re finally in a position to expand the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to protect LGBTQ+ Michiganders. Let’s get it done!”
-via LGBTQ Nation, 3/9/23
Note: If it's not clear from the language, this is basically a done deal--the bill signing IS ABSOLUTELY GOING TO HAPPEN.
As scary as things are right now, there are so many of us fighting to protect ourselves, our communities, and the queer and trans people around us.
This comes only a day after Minnesota's governor signed a landmark executive order that guarantees the right to gender-affirming care and prevents the state from complying with any other states' attempts to interfere. via them.us, 3/9/23
There is hope, and there are so many people fighting for us.
