Franconia Notch State Park (The Flume Gorge)

I will never forget about my drive on my way to the Flume Gorge. Driving between the white mountains is an experience I will never forget. And of course, I will never forget the panic attack I had while driving without phone service, for one hour, with nothing else than woods. (I get panic attacks because I become easily disoriented) The landscape was amazing, no doubt that New Hampshire is one of the states with the best mountains on the East Coast.

Our Eclipse Adventure

We were hoping to find a cascade of pinhole projections at the covered bridge just outside of Sackville, New Brunswick, but alas there was only one real obvious one.

Off we went to Fort Beausejour where others were gathered to see the great dimming. We were not in the zone of totality but it did darken quite a bit at the eclipse's maximum.

I couldn't resist leaving the Lone Tree out of the show.

1.) This is the first sweater that I knitted freehand without a pattern, which I did back around this time in 2000. It was only 17 months after my first knitting lesson. This technique of knitting a graphic sweater without a pattern, chart, or graph paper was just an experiment back then. I had no plans for what would be depicted on much of the sweater when I knitted the first stitch. It turned out to be a lot more of a success than I expected. I knew I could improve upon it after that. I just put whatever I could think of on it, starting with the waterfall on the back. Covered Bridge

I don't have enough time to go back and dig up the original post to add on, so I will start a new one.

The guy who wants the painting took this photo himself, and I love it and was happy to paint it. However, he wanted fall foliage instead of spring, extra rocks by the stream, a whole extra section to the left that isn't in the photo, adjust the angled section of the bridge to be straight, and a carriage with two horses and two passengers. Pros, he was very clear about what he wants and also gave me a ref photo for the carriage. Cons; that is a LOT of changes to accomplish.

While it is not as solid as it would have been if I'd had everything in a single image to paint from, and all the light and shadows laid out clearly, I think it is acceptable and the client will probably like it. I will ship it as soon as it's quite dry, and hope for the best!
