Absolutely love that every clone still working with the Empire that Crosshair has a mission with all go AWOL immediately after interacting with him. It draws him unwanted attention from the Admiral because it looks like he’s the key in the other clones getting radicalized and leaving to fight against the Empire instead of for them, but really it’s just because Crosshair doesn’t hesitate when they do to follow a clearly despicable order, clarifying that the Empire really isn’t the Republic they all fought for and that it isn’t peace they’re maintaining.
He’s not some rebel or otherwise, he just makes such shitty decisions that the other clones are like oh yeah the Empire is fucked up im out. That’s so fucking funny to me, actually.

For the record I do not like Crosshair as a Villain I like him as someone who was immensely fucked up by incredible amounts of trauma and is reacting badly to it and in Star Wars that means you get to commit little a murder. As a treat.
Seriously though I do not think all of his actions are justified or Morally Correct but I do think that they're understandable from his perspective and that his perspective is incredibly warped at this point and that this cycle was kicked off by something entirely outside of his control. It's up to him to pull out of that cycle and no one can do it for him, but he did not start it and he is not the main driver of it. I have zero interest in seeing him Punished as a Villain or treated like he's evil.
Anyway:

My absolutely unhinged cracked non-canonical theory on how “Tipping Point” is gonna go down:
Pabu a week, maybe more later. The Batch are settled into various tasks around the village. Wrecker and Omega have taken up fishing because I said so. They’re bringing their daily catch in when they break out into song and dance (Omega discovered sea shanties from Phee and sings them every chance she gets. Yes space pirates have sea shanties, you cannot tell me Hondo Ohnaka was not a shanty enthusiast)
As they're bringing in their haul, they notice Tech frantically waving at them on the docks, but they're too in the groove to be stopped. Tech is absorbed into their montage frantically trying to tell them something but the power of music is too much. All of Pabu village has been pulled into Wrecker and Omega's musical number, Tech being thrown around in the array, reluctantly getting caught in dance circles, all the while still trying to get Wrecker and Omega's attention.
Finally, the musical number is over and Tech's able to get Wrecker and Omega's attention.
"Wrecker! Omega! I've been trying to tell you! I hacked into the imperial records to monitor any reports or updates that could be important information. Reports of CT-9904 shooting a lieutenant and being sent for testing are all over the reports. Crosshair is a captive on Tantiss!"
Cut to Hunter standing at the end of the docks, hip impossibly popped to the side, blaster in hand, putting a new blaster clip in with his best impression of an 80's movie action star
"Let's get to work"
Cut to the Marauder taking off, holoprojection of Echo flickering in the cockpit
Hunter: "Echo we're on our way to Tantiss. Crosshair is being held..." Echo: "Say no more Hunter. Rex and I will meet you there"
Cue an all out 80's action movie take down of Tantiss. Crosshair's in his cell doing is best Princess Leia lounge on the bench when Echo and Rex burst into his cell
Crosshair: "Bout time you got here" Echo: "For the love of god Cross, stop dramatically posing and get moving"
They all make it on the Marauder and rendezvous on Pabu, and the Batch and Rex have a week long vacation with margs in hand and forced meditation for Crosshair.
The end.

Crosshair is so mundanely evil during his scenes with Cody in this episode. Yes, he seeks companionship, a connection. He’s known Cody long enough to hold him in high regard and tbh he still does, mostly. Crosshair works with him, revels in the nostalgia, and they save each other’s lives. But he almost smiles knowing (thinking) Cody is still under mind control.
Even though he might not admit it, Crosshair shares the same reason that many Imperials have for joining the Empire. They like having power over people. And right now, even though they’re brothers, Crosshair likes having power over Cody. He knows that in reality, Cody would disapprove of their situation, be devastated by what was happening to their family and what they were forced to do to the Jedi, especially Obi-Wan. But he’s oblivious to the bigger picture. Crosshair had his chip removed, he still has his free will, his awareness, and his autonomy. He knows what’s going on. It makes him feel unique. And it also makes Crosshair a real piece of shit to keep it all a secret from Cody.
Which is why it’s so satisfying when Cody violently brings him back to reality with just a few sentences about how absolutely fucked they both are in this situation. All the clones are suffering. All of them. Crosshair, despite his drive and skill, is no exception. So Cody escapes and makes it very clear he wanted to take Crosshair with him, but chose not to because of his need for power over others. Left behind once again, for all the right reasons.

Kyojuro's having lunch with Mitsuri and Obanai (this was supposed to be kind of a date but Mitsuri misunderstood and invited her bestie to join them, Obanai's a bit put out but Kyo's good company so it's ... fine) and absentmindedly asks what being in love feels like AND OBANAI GRIPS HIS OHASHI IN HIS FIST LIKE Kyojuro if you so much as look at me I will stab you right here but it was mainly a question for Mitsuri (given her entire deal) so she dives into a complex explanation about common types of attraction (aesthetic, romantic, sexual) and examples of how they might manifest, "there's lots of overlap though! I'm touchy when I flirt, I'm also touchy with my dearest friends"—she pets Kyo's shoulder with one hand and Obanai's with the other, Obanai's grip on his ohashi noticably relaxes—"different actions mean different things in different relationships!"
Kyo hums appreciatively. That helped a bit but he was more interested in how attraction, which is in the mind, impacts the physical body, at which point Mitsuri fuckin grins and goes "WELL there's a couple places blood may be inclined to FLOW" and Obanai's head drops down on the table so Mitsuri mercifully moves on, "it feels a lot like stress, actually. For me." Kyo perks up at that. "You know, locked-up joints, elevated heartbeat, increased body temperature," Mitsuri's gaze drifts to the back of Obanai's head (which is still facedown on the table but he is quietly listening), "it's a good warmth, but it hurts. You want something you're afraid of at the same time ..."
Kyojuro SLAMS his hands on the table, startling both of the other hashira, and practically shouts "THANK YOU! I'm starting to get it now! Poor Senjuro," he says, smiling wryly, and then digs back into his tempura.
The rest of the meal goes fine, Mitsuri pesters Kyo for details about Sen's mystery crush, Kyo steadfastly refuses to say anything more (best big brother! best big brother!), Obanai slowly recovers from the setup he thought he'd walked into. Then it hits him: he cuts Kyo off mid-sentence, "Rengoku. You've never been in love?"
And Kyojuro grins devilishly. "Oh goodness no. I have work to do!" Mitsuri SCREECHES and offers Kyo a high five, "like ouch but also GET HIMMMM" Obanai is speechless. Did Rengoku really just diss him. Rengoku??

the amount of people I’ve argued with today is insane
Especially because one of them is a boy arguing with me about cod (with something that makes no sense and you can directly just google) and he’s doing the whole “prove to me you were in the military then, and give me the name of your specific shit that would allow me, a complete stranger, to literally track you down if i wanted, nevermind the fact that they literally train you to not give out information on the internet”.
Should I be the bigger person? Yes. But the fact that he is demanding this stuff and arguing a point that is so blatantly, so google-ably wrong? I simply cannot help myself.
(he is telling me that PMC’s are inherently every government military’s enemy and that it’s on site and they’re never allies like…sir)

varha is honest to god only mentally one foot in most of the time, so to speak, which is why she doesn't seem Nearly as affected by some events as she should be. end result is someone who is both deeply approachable and insanely far away from just about everyone else she meets. it works for situations where they need a prop to address a crowd, less so when it's time to be more serious in private.
queen of dissociation, negative emotions can't catch her except when they totally do lollll
#big final fight of EW was pure 'none of this is real At All' energy uwu#hence why Round Two with zenos was more of 'oh my god why this? Right Now???' bc she will deal with that Later (or be forced to anyway)#she doesn't Like to get serious about stuff because that means she's been touched by it somehow. it's something she didn't get to/#wasn't able to control. she has One surviving family member post calamity and guess when that piece of info became known to her friends?#endwalker lmfao. they were surprised but her brother definitely wasn't#so if she can kind of distance herself from pain she can control how she reacts to it better & thus come off as something untouchable#end result is the (incorrect) assumption that she handles stress very well when its uh. repression & compartmentalization at its finest#catch her off guard to see something more sincere & watch her scramble to brush it off with a joke#she doesn't recover well if she can't and just shuts down pretty much. gets Very irate and starts shutting people out explicitly#doesnt like that either bc she doesn't recognize that part of herself + internalized a long time ago that no one else wants to see it eithe#but yknow. she's a Symbol yadda yadda so she sees that as an excuse to not address any of her issues gfhgjhkj#(estinien just Steamrolling her attempts at deflection whether intentional or not is one of the reasons they can actually function.#he can and will just ask her direct questions that don't have exploitable loopholes so while she doesn't LOVE being in crosshairs like that#he has managed to have better luck than most when it comes to wheedling out honesty & full answers.#50/50 on whether he's aware that he can do this though dfghgjhj)#anyway.#oc tag#varha naiarro

The implication that at one point Tech sat down with Phee and talked to her about many things, one of them being his younger brother Crosshair, the sarcastic, severe sniper who is now with the Empire but is still his brother, is so near and dear to me, not just because of what that gesture means for Tech and Phee (the act of talking and listening) but also because it shows that Crosshair was present in Tech's mind all that time.

Refresher for the people still confused about this...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a galaxy far, far away, EVERYONE has midi-chlorians in their blood. The Force resides in all living things. It binds the whole galaxy together. Midi-chlorians are what allow beings to commune with the Force. The more midi-chlorians you have, the more potential you have to RESPOND TO and WIELD the Force. But notice that Asajj couches her statement with the line that those with a higher m-count were "believed" to be more capable of wielding the Force. There's a correlation, but it's not necessarily the only factor (see Sabine Wren).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the moment where the clones literally become stand-ins for the fans.
"What? If you can use the Force, you're a Jedi!"
No. If you can use the Force, you can use the Force. To use it as a Jedi uses it, you have to train as a Jedi. To use it as a Sith uses it, you have to train as a Sith. To use it like a Nightsister, you have to train as a Nightsister. Or you can get some rudimentary instruction and decide how you want to use it.
Tumblr media
Jango Fett didn't have a high m-count, so his clones didn't either. But Omega and the rest of the Batch were special cases. As Cut said, the Kaminoans create with a purpose. Their deviations were intentional. Hunters abilities have always suggested he had a higher m-count than the others. But Omega's ability to perceive things before they happen (her bad feelings are nearly always spot on) and her affinity with animals have always been hints that her m-count is a little higher.
(Will update with screen grabs when I get them)
At the end of the episode, Omega asks Ventress if she has a high m-count.
Ventress: *looking at her nails* From what I've seen...no.
Omega: Then why is the Empire after me?
Ventress: Believe it or not, I don't know everything. But seeing as how a high m-count would make you a target, consider yourself lucky.
Omega: But I'm already a target.
Wrecker: Don't worry about it, kid. We'll figure it out. C'mon, let's get some chow.
Omega: *sigh* Thanks for trying.
Once they're out of earshot...
Crosshair: You're lying.
Ventress: About which part?
Hunter: You tell us.
Ventress: If Omega did have that potential, she'd have to be trained. Which would mean leaving you behind.
Hunter: That's not happening.
Ventress: What you want is irrelevant. The fact is, the Empire is after her, and they won't stop. If I were you, I'd leave this place. You're not as safe as you think you are. Our business is done.
Crosshair: I still can't figure out which side you're on.
Ventress: My own.
Okay, so Ventress is clearly not telling the truth about the m-count, which we know, because we've already seen Omega's charts. I really don't understand why people keep taking Ventress at her word here. We know better, and so do Crosshair and Hunter. My guess is that she's trying to protect Omega because she knows firsthand what it's like to be taken from your family and trained as a young girl.
We know that when Omega was at Tantiss, she was receiving transfusions of blood with midi-chlorians the same as all the other clones (harvested from the dead Jedi they're undoubtedly holding in the vault). They were taking her blood samples, but Nala Se kept throwing them away because she knew Omega would retain the higher midi-chlorian levels and she didn't want Hemlock to know that. The Emperor needs a clone that will maintain a high m-count so he can eventually get himself a new body. We know he does get that body, but not for decades - presumably because a) he never gets Omega, and b) the Batch is gonna take the fight to them at Tantiss and blow up their entire supply of midi-chlorian donors. Think about it - they're still working on Project Necromancer in The Mandalorian (24 years after The Bad Batch), but their resources are severely limited. The Empire has been all but wiped out, the Emperor is hiding out on Exegol, Dr. Pershing is clearly no Hemlock since he keeps killing his test subjects, and Grogu seems to be the only m-count donor they can get their hands on. The Emperor's cloned body is also deteriorating rapidly in TRoS, which suggests that even 25 years after The Mandalorian, he STILL hasn't figured out the right formula for cloning himself (which is good news for Grogu and Omega).
Which brings us back to the question, "Is Omega Force sensitive?"
The answer is, "yes", she is sensitive to the Force due to her elevated m-count. We've seen this all along. Hunter most likely is, too, and maybe some of the other Bad Batchers, to varying degrees. Tech could riot race, which takes incredible reflexes. Hemlock said that Crosshair didn't have a high m-count, and we don't know where Wrecker's abilities stem from. Omega can't wield the Force because she is untrained, but the potential is there. A person's aptitude to wield the Force seems to be strongly correlated to their m-count, but we've seen others with low aptitude eventually open the door to the Force with years of training and a decent dose of impending doom (we see this clearly with Sabine in Ahsoka, but it was also a topic in Legends).
Omega being Force sensitive doesn't mean that she has to leave her brothers. She can choose to pursue her training or not. She'd also have to find someone willing to train her. I'm not convinced Ventress is looking to take on any apprentices at the moment, but she could possibly connect Omega to Quinlan Voss (imagine the trouble those two would get up to).
But I don't think Omega will choose that path. One, it would just make her a bigger target. Two, I don't see her prioritizing power over family. She's a clone, and clones are ALL about family. They're Mando coded, not Jedi coded. Screw the space Buddhist lifestyle - clones parade their attachments around like trophies. Omega goes around collecting attachments like most kids collect rocks..."Hello, stranger trying to kill me, let's be besties."

So, THAT Clone X trooper...
is 100% definitely, undoubtedly Tech, yeah?
I mean, physically/literally:
His accent is different under the voice modulation
I stg those pained grunts as he lifted the stones were pure Tech
He runs in Creature Posture
The pocketses
He still doesn't give a fuck about following orders
But also narratively:
The lingering closeups whenever he's about to act in regard to the Batch. Is it consideration? Hesitation? They sure want us to wonder.
The story's repeated emphasis on Crosshair being able to anticipate his moves, and the way they match each other beat for beat the whole way down.
The fucking intimacy of the way he almost kills Crosshair. I mean the whole physicality of the fight, but especially the way Clone X had to stare into his eyes while he drowned him.
Why, as a writer, would you waste those story beats on someone who had no personal significance to the Batch? You just wouldn't.

Crosshair being overly protective is something that can be so personal. He’s attached to Omega much more than he ever was with his brothers.
“You good? Got your crossbow? Sure you can carry those supplies?”
Like this line of questioning screams I care about you, your safety, and how you’re feeling. His emotional development is centered around Omega and his NEED to protect her. It’s not something that was forced onto him either, it came naturally. It’s a part of his nature to protect her.
And then he says “Stay close. It’s easy to get lost in this terrain.”
“You’re as bad as Hunter.” (Omega)
“Oh, I’m much worse.”
Like what?!? Huh? I know what you mean but how much worse? It’s that, I’d kill for you, I’d die for you protectiveness from CROSSHAIR.
Omega reciprocating that concern and protectiveness too though!
“I’ll draw his fire. Get to the rendezvous.” “I don’t like that idea.” “Too bad.”
The way he said “Too bad.” So soft and careful not to offend her.
