i started reading (and watching) delicious in dungeon/dungeon meshi and thought the cast would actually fit in ds9 pretty well!

laios would want to study and eat aliens, but i gave him command red because he's the 'party leader'. and also because he has many red flags... i guess aliens can be his side hobby?

falin also gets command red, she seems like she'd handle diplomacy stuff well. she gets taken by the wormhole aliens in exchange for saving the rest of the party lol.

marcille would have a hard time with the food on ds9, especially the klingon restaurant. i think she'd stick with replimat food most of the time. she's probably in sciences, and is studying wormholes/other dimensions.

chilchuck is already engineer-coded. his wife and kids probably lived on the station, but have since left. i don't know if his neck warmer thing is allowed, but he pins his rank pips on them.

senshi is totally friends with a bunch of klingons, to the surprise of no one (see: orc episode). they respect him and his willingness to eat klingon food, also he's a pretty honourable guy anyway.

and kabru... my beautiful boy... if he teamed up with julian, their prettyboy powers and shiny eyes would be unstoppable. maybe i have a favourite type of guy? i want to see him get sent on missions with laios (for the chaos) and marcille (i think they'd be good friends).

i'll probably draw more characters if i don't lose interest anytime soon, because boy do i have thoughts about the others too.

brigid and i screamed, high fived, and started jumping around in their room and yelling about this ask thank you so much

the crossover is between lost birds (@if-lostbirds), my favorite western dystopian post-apocalyptic-and-also-on-the-verge-of-the-apocalypse sci-fi game, and a life supreme! the cast of a life supreme remains in their original universe and positions while the lost birds cast crosses over into the world of cyberpunk 2077.

dylan remains a fixer but the merc who takes the place of The Merc and stands by her side most prominently is the gunslinger/eli sharpe, born the child of some arasaka executives and run away. they are Disgustingly in love and obsessed with each other because they both are characters with an insane sense of devotion and loyalty. sharpe would kill for her, has, would throw themself into certain death for her — and dylan, in all of her love for them, would pull them back from it: her greatest merc is also her greatest weakness.

(shoutout to the AU within an AU where the two of them stayed at arasaka and fall headfirst into the most toxic, loyal, blood-bound relationship that will kill them both)

stéphanie interacts most prominently with the ghost and the traitor/william rhys, both of which she's brought into her home without a second thought for stranger danger.

ghost is still an odd thing that doesn't talk and can throw a grown man over their head, but they look like a lost and hungry child and so stéph is keeping them and feeding them. they are polite and quiet and helpful, working in the kitchen with stéph and owning all of her heart.

william washed up on the shores of pacifica and though he's skittish, clumsy, and awkward, stéph's taken him in and thrown him to work front of house for the diner. when he wakes screaming in the middle of the night, she offers kindness, a listening ear, and a warm mug at her table. (they're only a year apart in age and naturally they are developing the biggest crushes on one another.)

dorothea is of the roving band of nomads that snuck the ghost into the city after picking them up from a desolate area of the NUSA.

[locked] is assigned the hunter as a corporate bodyguard. only one fleshy limb between the two of them, and both with reputations with teeth, they open their soft sides to each other. contractually speaking, she owns them. in practice, however, she's wrapped around their finger, happy to find a friend, and in love with them—they dig up old vids from the hunter's baseball playing past and watch them together.

while aspects of the crossover mimic the plot of A Life Supreme to get the ball rolling, the merc is not there to connect everyone together, and so it does not follow the same storyline. the ranger/swann and the archangel take on an antagonistic role that targets eli sharpe and features them amongst their grandest plans. dylan, for fear of the sway archangel has, has no choice but to send sharpe on the jobs given from them.

little tidbits under the cut because i will take ANY opportunity to talk about this crossover thank you so much!!!!!!

• dylan and sharpe both work on getting sober together.

• they also do things like stare at each other uncomfortably and kiss with tongue in public. the mox have been trying to find a way to kick them out of lizzie's for months.

• sharpe is widely known as dylan riley's attack dog: they are aware of this. they revel in this. they do scare off other mercs, sometimes.

• rhys watched vids on chivalry to learn how to treat stéphanie in a relationship, and also he is. a foot and a half taller than her. stéphanie is THRIVING.

• ghost, stéphanie, and rhys all sleep in the same bed together at night: rhys is too tall for the bed, stéph starfishes over him, and ghost curls up like a cat on top of them both.

• [locked] and the hunter look frightening in public and then go home and infodump about old movies together.

• the hunter cherishes the feeling of [locked]'s human hand against their skin. they hold it to their face in tender moments.

Inspired by Candeloro's depiction in A Different Story, @bluethepearldiver and I were brainstorming on the idea of how the mercs' warlocks would look like in human forms the other day. After messing around with loadout.tf, we're glad to bring you the manifestations of our blorbos' despair, traumas, and obsessions!

Disclaimer; Spy's, Jane's, and Dell's warlocks were all made by Blue, including PG-1986's (Spy's warlock) loadout. The rest was made by me.

Bear in mind that I am still working on a good deal of them; the only one who is remotely finalized is Medic- and Tavish's and Mundy's are still nameless, for corn's sake. I tend to take my time with these buggers, so most of them are subject to change.

ok so I have watched Riverdale and I have Thoughts about the bones of a gossip girl Riverdale AU but not necessarily about the plot. (GG was one of the first things to premiere after the rebrand from the WB (beat only by a show that lasted 8 episodes) and Riverdale is the last thing to go before it becomes a more "adult oriented" channel so it's fascinating to compare the 2)

Riverdale has a reputation for being "oh crazy weird show!!" (earned) but like... despite the escalating drama, the characters aren't really allowed to grow or change (or be fleshed out at all) they stay more or less the same one dimensional stereotypes for seasons 1-6 (season 7 is an alternate timeline it's a whole thing.) like I genuinely cannot place the plot of each season in order bc the characters aren't allowed to be affected by their experiences

(which is also exemplified by having them stay in high school forever, as opposed to the GG route of having them ignore their educations and pretend to be adults)

(I could go on a tangent here about how TV has gotten more serialized as technology develops. like early TV you watched when you could and things went into syndication so you had to be able to watch any episode out of context. but with streaming everything is binged. so stories can take multiple episodes and characters can change)

but GG and Riverdale arent streaming shows so the characters stay perpetually stuck in these cycles of Big Stories that Take Time but characters don't grow

we could also talk about narration and the story within the story. bc Riverdale is presented as a book that jughead is writing about his friends and gossip girl is being told to us by Dan (who also ends up writing a book about his friends.) the dark underbelly if Riverdale is the focus of the show vs the UES being more and more idealized as the show goes on

BUT!! I do also have plot thoughts!!!!

starting with the obvious. Riverdale stole the Derena/Rufly/Scott Rosson thing! but they took it a step further by having both couples dating, living in the same house, and having the love child move in! (then they revealed the guy who moved in wasn't their son at all but an imposter (and a serial killer! don't worry he marries the real illegitimate son!) Gossip Girl should've done this

Blair would start a cult predicated on her being the reincarnation of Audrey Hepburn. Serena (the most cult susceptible) would be a full fledged believer and a recruiter until she and Blair had that same fight about attention they always do then Serena would team up with recent-cult-escapee Jenny to take her down

Chuck would get involved with Carter Baizen's dog fighting ring for 2 episodes, but stop when he gets yelled at by his mom's ghost while high on psychedelics he got from Nate's drug dealer. a season later Chuck would do a seance and have the ghosts of his parents possess Jenny and Eric and force them to get married in some convoluted scheme to tax insurance fraud. they would stay possessed until Jonathan (upset Eric dumped him over text) showed up at the penthouse and was like "this is clearly not jenny and Eric" but nobody believes him so he has to exorcise them himself with a song (Riverdale would stop episodes for 3 minutes at a time so characters could sing, so be glad this song moves the plot forward)

Vanessa, while making a documentary, stumbles upon a society of mole men who hold her hostage bc she knows their secret. they let her send Dan a letter and she uses a secret code they made as kids to tell him where she is. he goes to rescue her but in the time it took she became queen of the mole people and now needs to be convinced to come home (again through song)

Nate is descended from serial killer HH Holmes. he Googles if that can be genetic and that's how we learn about the serial killer gene. he's relieved he doesn't have it but he makes all his friends do the DNA test and falls into a guilt spiral when it turns out that Serena does (she doesn't really care)

Dan, doing research for his book, finds out Lily had a girlfriend in highschool that she lost touch with, and reaches out to her. said girlfriend initially refuses to appear but changes her mind and arrives the night before the rufly wedding and tells drunkenly Nate the story of the body she and Lily hid one night. Nate (in the middle of his guilt spiral) tells Serena this story in an effort to get her to see the the effects of the serial killer gene

Rufus spends the entire show making waffles and getting divorced

I watched frailty (2001) and i have some crossover ideas about serial killer siblings myka bering and tracy 'root' bering. When they were kids, their dad came home and told them that god had given him a mission to destroy demons. Then he started killing seemingly randos who god told him are demons. This of course fucked them up in different ways and they grow up to be serial killers

the much longer version: they are together after time spent blurring the lines between devotion and worship and loyalty and love.

i believe it started with brigid saying that eli would be a merc, and that they'd take a job from dylan riley. they assume that she needs someone like them—someone who can get the job done, someone who seems bigger and far more frightening than her. in turn, she knows they are perfect for the job: she doesn't need them specifically, she would take any merc who waltzed in here and shook her hand. but she's fine making herself smaller, and she's an expert at displaying her gratitude.

eli is both intrigued and distrustful of dylan's corporate poise and her skittish personality being interwoven with one another at first, and dylan, who likes what they do for her, who would throw her heart to the first person to take care of her, develops a crush she won't act on.

eli climbs the ranks by proving an effective merc. dylan gains renown as a fixer with a reputation for long, exclusive contracts. and who do they have to return to after every job but each other? it's always them, it's always them and eli wants that fucking contract.

they develop an obsession and love for one another long before they voice it, leading to them having some pretty unsettling vibes (they like staring at each other in public and saying nothing). rumors start flying that they are together before they actually are. eli offers the type of loyalty that dylan has only ever been able to dream of, and in turn, she gives them the same, makes them a priority: they have to be told she'd rather have them alive than a job be done.

they experience the ordinary drama of "i told you i love you and you won't say it back, i guess i'll try to move on but we can still work together" and "no wait, i love you" and once those words are affirmed they are inseparable.

ultimately: yes, they are together! they are very in love and bound by both loyalty and blood! domestic things that they do end up being moving into an apartment together, driving places together (eli drives, dylan has a panic attack in the passenger seat), and being all around (just a smidgen unhealthily) obsessed with one another. it's night city, after all!
