The Bird’s Baby Bug
Chapter 2
Ch. 1
Tim: 19 Mari: 10
Three in the morning, it was three in the f*ing morning and Jason was not having it.  But unfortunately for him, whoever was calling wouldn’t stop!  Fine, Jason would answer the phone, but he wouldn’t sound happy doing it!
“What the f* do you want?”  He growled, rubbing tiredly at his eyes.  Tonight was supposed to be his night of d*it.
“Jason, Jason thank G*.”  Tim gasped in relief, it honestly shocked him.  He and the replacement were definitely not on the best of terms, so why would he sound so relieved that he answered his phone.  “Before you hang up,” he rambled quickly, “I could really use your help.  This isn’t about me, it's about a kid that The League of Assassins kidnapped.”
Jason froze at that, what the f* was the replacement doing in The League of F*ing Assassins.  “I’m sorry, but what now?”
Tim sighed through the phone, like he had any right to be exasperated like he hasn’t been radio silent for over six g*d*ng months and called him –the guy that has tried to murder him on multiple occasions–for help .  “Look, it's a long story, but I need to get her out before Ra’s comes back, I’ll explain everything then.  Sending my coordinates now.”  Jason was about to respond, before he could the quick beep, beep, beep that singled the end of the call echoed in his ears.  Son of a b*!
Jason glared at the phone, like he could will Tim to magically appear out of it so he could strangle him, but nothing happened.  With one last sigh, Jason got out of bed and began to get ready to return to one of the many places that haunted his nightmares.  Making a few calls to his lieutenants, telling them to make sure everyone stayed in line and demanding updates every night, he grabbed his emergency duffle bag and headed out.
_______ Tim didn’t want to admit how attached he became to the small girl over the span of a few hours.  She was so small, and despite the horrors she had been forced to endure she was one of the sweetest people he’s ever met.  Having learned that she had (unsurprisingly) not been allowed any form of education in her captivity, he had taken it upon himself to become her tutor while they waited for Jason. They drew, he helped her with numbers, helped her with her English and French, and when she was asleep in his bed, he would continue his investigation into Bruce’s whereabouts.
He had been tracking Jason’s progress through a code that he had activated on Jason’s phone when the man had picked up.  It had taken him nearly three days to get here, and if everything went according to plan, he should be here within the next three hours.   On the third day Tim began to explain in heavy detail to Marinette how he was going to free her from this Hell Hole and how she would go with his brother until he finished his mission here.
“So you’re leaving me?”  Marinette whispered in broken English, her voice breaking slightly, though no tears welled in her eyes.  Tim felt awful, but if he wanted to find Bruce, destroy the Pits, and avoid Ra’s; then this was his best course of action.
“It won’t be for very long,” he whispered, gently tucking a strand of her long dark hair behind one of her small ears.  “I’ll be back before you know it, and Jason will take great care of you.  He’s very protective of kids.  Don’t tell him I said this,” he whispered into her ear, a mischievous smirk on his lips, “Jason may seem like a baddy, but he’s really just an oversized teddy bear.”  (A teddy bear that would actually tear anyone and anything apart if he so felt like it.)
His heart melted when Marinette giggled, and goodness he didn’t want to let this small bean go.  He quickly pulled the small child against his chest, giving her a tight embrace, relieved when she quickly returned it rather than shrinking away like she had a few times before.  “You’re so brave Marinette.  Never forget that.”  He whispered.
The two stayed like that for only a few moments longer before he slowly pulled away with an affectionate hair ruffle.  The moment was curtly interrupted when his door was forced open, and Tim knew who it was before he even turned around.  There were only two people that existed on this base that would dare come into his room unannounced.
“Detective.”  Ra’s greeted stoically.  Tim cursed under his breath, Ra’s should have been gone for at least another day.  Tim turned around, keeping Marinette tucked behind him.  “I see you’ve met my little pet project.” He stated, never taking his cold gaze off Tim.  Tim glared back at the man; his resolve to save the small child growing stronger the longer Marinette held onto the back of his shirt, tightening her trembling grip like it was her only lifeline.  “I would ask you please return it to me, it is a very important asset that I would like to keep close.”
The sound of Marinette’s whimper made Tim feel almost animalistic with the need to protect.  It was as exhilarating as it was horrifying.  “No,” he snarled, “I don’t think I will.  I’m sure that you have enough of her blood to fill each and every one of your Lazarus Pits to the brim.”  He growled out, reaching for the bo staff at his side.
“Don’t be ridiculous Detective”, Ra’s sighed sounding almost exasperated, though he didn’t come any closer…yet.  “Surely you know the reason we must keep her close, despite her blood’s usefulness.”  Unfortunately Tim did understand what Ra’s was getting at.  He had been reading through any and all files that pertained to “Subject E131”.  Ra’s intended to use Marinette as a weapon; training and enhancing her powers so that she could use her control of plant life–and maybe even animal life–to use against his enemies—in other words, a better “model” of Poison Ivy.  He wouldn’t let that be her fate, she would not be another pawn in Ra’s sick games.
“Yes, but I’m afraid that I can’t let that happen.”  Snap .  His staff snapped open, ready for whatever Ra’s had planned.  Ra’s simply smirked, a twinkle in his eyes that sent a shiver down Tim’s spine.
“Very well Detective, have it your way.”   Ra’s was fast, faster than Tim was expecting, but not fast enough.  Tim shot his staff into the air, blocking the blow before using the momentum to push Ra’s sword away from him.
“Is this child really worth the risk of not being able to see your father again, Detective?  Without my help, he’ll be lost forever.”
Tim ground his teeth, he wouldn’t let this manipulative ba* invade his mind.  If he was as great of a detective as Ra’s claimed him to be, then he didn’t need Ra’s.  He would find Bruce on his own, and show everyone that he wasn’t crazy.  He would protect this child, because she deserved to feel safe.
He looked around for an opening while gently bushing the small child away from, but still behind, him.  He couldn’t risk her safety more than he already is.  Jason was out there, he would be here soon.  He just needed to stall Ra’s and make it to the drop off point.
Ra’s attacked once more, this time trying to move around him, switching their positions so that Marinette would be right behind Ra’s.  Tim wouldn’t let that happen though.  He kept his feet solidly on the ground pushing against Ra’s momentum.  The sound of Ra’s blade against his staff was a sharp clash as each fighter swung and danced around the other.  “It is such a shame, Detective.  I truly thought that you would join me as my right hand.”
Tim felt a vicious smirk fall onto his lips—the same smirk he used to strike fear into Gotham’s criminal underbelly—, “Sorry to disappoint, but I don’t murder those who stand against me.”
“Maybe now, but you could learn.  You could come to see how efficient it is when you are trying to truly bring order to the world.”
“Yes, because torturing kids is definitely the “best way” of creating “order”.”  He growled, ducking under Ra’s sword before throwing a right slam towards Ra’s abdomen.
Beep Beep
Jason was 30 minutes out.  He must have been pushing his bike for all it’s worth if he got here that fast, Tim thought while using a downward thrust.  Ra’s jumped back, surveying the room.  He watched with glee as the cruel, condescending smile on Ra’s face fell away into a frustrated sneer.
“Where is she?”  He demanded coldly.
Tim’s smile grew.  “What, you thought I didn’t have a plan for if you came back early?”  Tim had discovered a trap door under the bed that led to a small cave right at the edge of the base.  Exactly where he told Jason to meet them.  Ra’s must have forgotten about it with how big the base was, or simply did not believe that Tim would have found the small passage.
“I see I’ve underestimated you, Detective.”  Ra’s sneered.
Tim simply chirped, “Your mistake.”  Before he launched into a series of strikes, no longer afraid that he’d accidentally hurt Marinette.  Ra’s blocked his strikes, only allowing him to get two or three before Ra’s countered him blow for blow.  Tim allowed himself to be spun by Ra’s attack, following the movement so his back was to the door, just as he planned.  Before Ra’s could strike down his next blow Tim was moving, running out of the room and through the seemingly deserted corridors.
He needed to distract the others, keep them far away from Mari and the drop off point, so he was strangely relieved when swarms of ninjas began to attack him.  Though when he noticed Ra’s was not in the midst, he could feel a panic course through his muscles.  What if he had found the passage?  What if he had gotten there before Jason and had taken Mari?  He would never be able to forgive himself.
Tim ducked past the blades and throwing stars; cursing when one of them grazed his unarmored forearm.  The long gash stretched down his arm allowing warm blood to trickle down onto the stone floor.  It didn’t matter though, because he had to keep fighting.  Had to protect Marinette so that she could live her own life.
So he kept running, kept defending, kept ducking, and he kept fighting back.
“Red Hood to Red Robin.  Red Hood to Red Robin, the package has been picked up.”
Tim nearly collapsed in relief, but considering he was still in the midst of battle, he decided that doing so would be a terrible idea.
Suddenly, the sound of gunshots hung heavy through the halls.  Ra’s didn’t allow the use of guns, especially on base, and Tim only knew one person that could sneak in here without a problem while using that kind of weapon.  The brief moment of his distraction cost him as the back of a hilt was smashed against his head.  Tim collapsed, his body feeling heavy and sluggish.
“Tim!”  Someone shouted, and suddenly, the pounding in his head cleared.  A warmth surrounded him, just like when he had first met Marinette, except there wasn’t any excruciating pain like something was growing in him.  Wait, oh sh*.
“Jason!”  Tim screamed, jumping back onto his feet with renewed strength and pushing back the other ninja, as he moved toward the echoing sounds of gunshots rather than away.  Before he could even round the corner he saw Marinette staring at him with haunted, watery eyes.
“They were going to take you next!  You promised they wouldn’t take you away like that!”  She sobbed, hugging herself.  Tim felt his heart shatter into a million pieces.  He extended his arms out, fully expecting her to shrink away.  But she didn’t, she ran into his arms and let him pick her up, wrapping her legs around his chest when he moved her so she was situated against his left hip.
“I’m sorry, Sweetie.  It won’t happen again now that I’ve got my little lucky charm back.”  Marinette giggled lightly through her tears.  But in all seriousness, Tim was absolutely terrified.  She shouldn’t be here, she should be on her way back to Gotham right now with Jason!  He was going to kill Jason.  Tim touched the small device in his ear, turning his mic on.  “Hood, I thought I told you to get her out of here.  You said you picked her up!”
He could hear the reverberations of round after round leaving the chamber while Jason replied, “the Little Pixie said she wouldn’t leave without you.  Screamed when I tried to touch her.  Figured as long as she stayed with me she’d be fine while we rescued your sorry a*.”
“Well she didn’t stay by your side, you arrogant jerk.”
“Oh don’t even Mr. I’m-going-to-work-with-The-League-of-Assassins-with-no-bad-consequences-directed-towards-me.  Seriously, what were you thinking ?”
Tim felt his jaw clench, shoulders tensing, as the memories of everyone telling him how he was crazy, how grief made him insane, how he simply wasn’t in his “right mind”.  No one would listen, no one trusted him, but he was right !  He knows that he’s right!  He didn’t respond.
“No excuse?  What, did you want a taste of what it’s like on the other side?  See what it’s like to-“
“ Shut up , Jason.  The only reason I called you is because you know this place better than the others and I trusted you to have this child’s best interest in mind.”
It was silent over the line, well except for the resounding bullets, but it didn’t last long.  “Let’s just get the h* out of here.”  And that was that.
A few minutes later, he found Jason surrounded by bodies of ninjas, surprisingly not bleeding out.  “Rubber bullets.”  Jason informed, “Kid doesn’t need to see that.”  Tim bites his lip before he can say: she’s already seen far worse .  Tim gave Jason a sharp nod, and they were moving out.  Tim followed closely behind Jason to wherever he had parked their getaway vehicle, hugging Marinette tighter to him as they ran.  He was honestly surprised to see one of the Batplanes carefully concealed behind the large jungle canopy.  He was honestly expecting to see one of Hood’s bikes.  He was even more so when he saw Babs waiving towards them in her wheelchair.
“You have a lot of explaining to do, Boy Wonder .”  She shouted, her voice filled with so much unadulterated rage that Tim actually feared for his life for the first time that day.  He didn’t have time to hesitate though, who knew what or who was hiding in the jungle or coming after them.  Adjusting his grip slightly on Mari he ran the rest of the way to the plane only letting himself relax his grip when they were in the air and flying far away.  When he looked out the window, all he could see was Ra’s standing right where the plane had just taken off, sword raised in a challenge. If they had been even a few moments later, they might not have escaped.
“T-Tim?”  Marinette whispered into his ear, startling him slightly.  “Can I be put down now?”
“Yes, of course.”  Tim said, quickly setting her down before he kneeled in front of her so that he could check her over for any injury.  “Coming back for me was risky and irresponsible.  You could’ve gotten taken again. I don’t think I’d ever be able to live with myself if that happened.”  He stated as he patted her down, if one of those ninja hurt even a hair on her head he was going to-
“Ahem.”  Tim’s face shot up at the sound, forcing him to meet Barbara’s cold and curious eyes.  “Would you like to introduce us, and maaaybe explain why you’ve been radio silent for the past six months .  Tim glared at Babs, but she held his gaze.
Sighing he turned away from her and looked at the small child, silent tears falling down her face.  Tim felt his shoulders fall.  He opened his arms and prayed that she wouldn’t flinch away from him like she had many other times before.  When Marinette flung herself into his arms, filling the cold void with her warmth while her tears soaked his robes, he couldn’t have felt more relieved.
“I’m sorry for getting mad, Honey.  You scared me, and I just want you to be safe.  I-I never want you to go through what you went through there ever again.”  He whispered to her in French.
“You know what they did?”  She gasped back in her native tongue, her voice still so  broken and raspy.  “You took me away.”
Tears of his own fell down his cheeks as he lifted her off the ground.  “It’s okay baby, you’re safe now.”  He turned to look at Babs and Jason, who were looking away silently, giving them as much privacy as they could while still keeping an eye on the two.  “Hey, there’s some snacks in the back, do you want to grab some?”
She sniffled, wiping at her eyes before giving him a small nod.  Once her feet hit the floor, she moved to the back of the small plane where the small snack drawer sat.
“She was one of Ra’s experiments.”  Tim stated before either of the two could say anything, trying to discreetly wipe at his eyes while still watching the small girl.  “She’s a meta who has the ability of creation, very powerful.  Ra’s put her under hundreds of different experiments and documented the results, taking and using her blood to reverse the Lazarus Pit side effects before turning her into a human weapon..”
Tim took in a shaky breath, his heart melting when he saw Marinette’s wide eyes when she pulled a bag of pretzels.  She looked like she had just found lost treasure from an old chest.  “She was 7 when they took her, she was trapped there for 3 years.  Killed her parents and showed her the recording of their death to get the reaction they needed. I downloaded her entire file.  It should finish downloading onto your computer in the clock tower in the next half hour.”
Marinette raced over to him holding a small pack of chocolate covered pretzels while hugging a second one close to her chest.  Tim gently took it from her with a small, ruffling her hair in the process.  “Thanks Mari.  Why don’t you go sit down.  You never know when there will be turbulence.”
Marinette hesitated, looking at him expectantly.  “I’ll join you soon.  I don’t plan to let you stay by yourself for very long.”  With one more silent nod she moved to the front of the plane where there were four seats available.
“Tim, you do realize you’re 19, right?”  Jason said, helmet and mask fully removed.
“Yes?”
“Okay, so then what’s your plan here?  B’s not here to take her in,”  Tim flinched at that.  Bruce would be back, he would bring Bruce back!  “I don’t think Dickie will take her either what with the Demon Brat, I-“
“I’m not entrusting you with her.”  Jason shot him a sharp glare.
“Alright you dick, well what’s your plan then?”
“Well, I’m about as rich as Bruce, I am currently CEO of his company, and The Nest would only need to be restocked and a room redecorated…”  Tim started mumbling, mind starting to wonder as he thought of everything he would need to do to make The Nest more… child friendly.
Snap snap.   Startling back into the moment Tim glared at Babs for destroying his train of thought.  “Focus Tim.  So what I’m hearing is, you want to adopt her?”  She asked incredulously.
“Yes, as soon as I bring Bruce back.”  Tim agreed matter of factly causing both Jason and Barbara to flinch.
“Tim…” Babs began, her tone tired sounding.
“Don’t”, Tim growled startling all occupants on the plane, except Mari, she fell asleep.  Tim had changed a lot in the last six months, and he knew exactly what was needed of him.
He was so close to finding Bruce.  He just needed to find one last piece of evidence and he’d be able to bring Bruce back.  Tim had found out that the man was stuck in a timestream and that he had been leaving clues that only Tim could find.  He was going to bring the closest thing he had to a father home, and nobody was going to stop him.
“I know he’s still alive, and I can prove it.  I have the files and physical proof to do so.  I’m not crazy!”  His breath was coming out in short puffs, his eyes were narrowed, and he could feel his clenched fist shaking at his side.
“Okay, Tim.  We believe you.  Just calm down.”  Barbara began.  She was talking in her victim’s voice and while Tim hated that it was directed towards him, he couldn’t help but take a little comfort in the smoothness of her words.  Slowly he let himself relax, taking longer breaths as he calmed down.
“I’m fine.  Just drop me off in Uganda and make sure Marinette’s safe.  I’d prefer that you look after her,” he stated as he made eye contact with Babs, “keep her away from the Demon Brat and all.  But I understand if you truly, 100% without a doubt , believe that Dick would be able to care for her better until I return.”
“What about me?  I could watch the little pixie.”  Jason grumbled as he stared at the limp form of the small girl.
“I trust you about as much as I can throw you Jason.”
“At least I know how to actually cook.”
“Boys.”
“I can learn!”  Tim replied indignantly.
“BoYs.”
“Not without burning down your entire kitchen you couldn-“
“BOYS!”
Both snapped their necks to look at Babs.  Letting out a long agitated sigh, “First of all, I’m not going to just drop you off in Uganda just for you to go off the radar again.”  Tim was about to protest but she held her hand up, silencing him.  “Before anything else is decided on I’m going to look through all of your evidence, then once we see that we can come to a decision on what happens next.  Does that sound fair?”
Tim wanted to argue more, force them to relent until they just did what he asked because he was so close .  But he held his tongue and gave a curt nod.  “Fine, but I’m going to go whether or not you believe me.”  Without another word he stalked over until he was sitting next to Marinette.
He watched the gentle rise and fall of her chest, her face soothed over in sleep, and her head was tilted so that it was leaning against her shoulder at an uncomfortable angle.  Gently, Tim guided her head until it rested against his chest.  He felt her stir slightly, but instantly relaxed when he began to run his fingers up and down her back.  Her hair was far too tangled and would definitely need a professional stylist to fix it before he felt comfortable enough running his fingers through it without causing any pain or discomfort.
When he looked up Babs and Jason were gone, the door to the cockpit left slightly ajar.  Tim squeezed his eyes shut as he let out a long sigh that rattled his bones.  With his free hand he rummaged through his leftmost bandolier and pulled out a small red button.  Opening his eyes he stared at the small device, a devious smirk forming on his lips as he pushed the button.
Long live The League of Assassins, and long may it burn.
All he needed to do now was free Bruce.  With that finished Tim closed his eyes, letting the gentle weight of Marinette comfort him as he let sleep finally take him over.

Is there anything special about the discord server? Is it only open for people who like Timari or can newcomers also join?
Hello newcomer!
Thank you for your questions!
What’s special about our server?
This is a ship specific discord server within the Maribat community; there’s not many of them, just more general ones. Here you’ll find people who not only share the same fandom as you, but also are looking to create/read things that are more centered around a certain area of interest. This makes it easier to connect with individuals and receive aid and feedback as well as create a lively environment of common interests.
It’s also very organized and has a place for everything. The moderation is sound and members have a say in almost everything with a clear goal of a safe and healthy environment.
We strive to bring encouragement and support to members of the maribat community, Timari and otherwise, and within the server have an earnable role system to create a sense of friendly competition.
We have events open to members with a clearly defined set of criteria for what’s needed to host their own events within the server; they have the option to simply suggest them for staff to run or may host them personally and given full access to their own channel within the events category to do so with full freedom to do as they’d like as long as it stays within the rules.
Members who request so are given their own channels to do what they’d like in from plotting to writing haikus to artworks to linking their works. As long as it complies with the rules it’s allowed.
And lastly, our members. Seems cliche but a server really isn’t a server without its members. We’re currently only a small server, may always be that way, but we’re a small community of brilliant creators and readers who help to bring the server up and create things for all to enjoy for free. People who will bring you up and encourage you to keep writing, keep drawing, keep reading. We welcome everyone, and we work to keep it a positive and safe environment so it can stay that way.
Comments from members:
“The environment, it's welcoming and friendly and open. Most of the larger servers I'm in are either a closed off group or too big to find people in. It's truly a good place for people who create”
“Despite being a smaller, newer server, it is still active but not so overwhelmingly active like a bigger server. We are also quite passionate about the ship and encourage one another to create”
“The server is special because it not only gives us (writers and artists and Timari creators) another community platform but it allows us to work together and in a way, network”
Is it open to anyone or just Timari fans?
As it is a Timari server, the goal is to collect all the Timari fans. But this does not mean that other ship lovers are not welcome to join.
We welcome lovers of any of the maribat ships from damianette to konette to the lovely rare pairs. We encourage you to have some interest in Timari if you plan on joining or are looking to read/create/view more Timari content. But we do have areas where you can post about other ships within the fandom that is accessible to all members.
Still interested?

The Assistant Poser
For the wonderful @miraculousmelodies
Tim was hanging by a thread. He forgot that his assistant was out for the day, so he had to do the legwork, the coffee-making and work sorting. While Tam did send an email saying she was bringing in a substitute, said substitute hadn't arrived yet, leaving him to deal with the work tornado.
He burst back into his office in fuzzy rabbit slippers, neglecting his misaligned tie and tousled hair that was attacked way too many times by his weaving fingers. The company was having a partner project with a fashion house and a meeting for it was set for that afternoon.
He cursed, remembering that he forgot an important post-it on Tam's desk and hurried back out. At that moment, he saw a short professionally-dressed woman coming towards him.
Tim sighed in relief. "You must be the assistant. Thank god you're here." He shoved the stack papers in her hands. "Have these sorted out A.S.A.P. and please get me a large cup of iced coffee---"
The woman blinked at him. "Wait---"
"Right! My order is a large caramel macchiato with one half soy milk, and one half whole milk, six and one quarter pumps of vanilla, caramel drizzled on top---"
"I don't think you---"
"But no caramel on the sides please. Those are so hard to reach sometimes. Oh, and add five shots of espresso, whipped cream on top and a sprinkle of cinnamon." He paused with a yawn. "Did you get all of that?"
His temporary assistant raised an eyebrow. "A large caramel macchiato with one half soy milk, one half whole milk, six and one quarter pumps of vanilla, caramel drizzled on top but not on the sides, five shots of espresso, whipped cream on top and a sprinkle of cinnamon."
"Also, please go over the files we'll be using for the meeting with Venus Fashions today and check if there's a typo because I cannot afford to embarrass myself and this company in front of their representative." He ushered her out for her to do her work. It was roughly four hours before their scheduled meeting and he still had to change.
Tim slumped on his office chair after he was finally alone. He mentally reminded himself not to work without an assistant ever again.
The woman came back no more than fifteen minutes after. She got his order perfect, down to a tee, and his sleep-deprived self couldn't be any more grateful. "I'm really sorry. I didn't get your name last time." He gave her a small smile.
"Umm . . . Marinette." She plopped down the sorted files on the edge of his desk. "By the way, there is a misspelling on the VF contract. 'Plait' is supposed to be 'plaid'."
"Oh, thanks for catching that. Can you shoot an email to the other staff to have them correct and reprint the documents?"
Marinette examined him for a minute before saying, "Sure thing."
"And errr, from your standpoint, do you think WE's offers are feasible?" Tim ran a hand through his hair for the hundredth time that day. "I'm scared Venus isn't going to accept. They're pretty picky with the companies they partner up with and . . . this is just a personal thing, okay? But I'm a huge fan of their products and scheme so I can't ruin this deal."
Marinette chuckled. "Don't worry. I think the contract will appease them. And this is Wayne Enterprises. Who are they to decline them?"
They went over more files before Marinette went out again to do work of her own. Tim stretched on his chair. She was a literal godsend to him---proficient and detail-oriented as an assistant. Maybe he could consider getting her an official position in WE when Tam comes back.
As his heavy-lidded eyes stared at the screen in front him, his gaze caught the email Tam sent in early that morning.
. . . inform you that I was not able to get you a substitute assistant so you will have to . . .
Not able to get . . .
Tim practically leapt out of his seat, reading the words over and over again. Fuck! If Tam didn't get an assistant, then who . . .?
He dug into their files for Venus Fashions and prayed. He realized that Marinette's face was extremely familiar and he hoped that the reason why wasn't what he was thinking.
---
Marinette flipped through the pages inside the folder as they waited in the conference room. "Adrien? Do I look like an assistant?"
Adrien pushed his glasses up his nose. "No . . .? You look like the usual. I look more like an assistant." He gave her a pointed look. "But I told you your shoes are weird."
She scoffed, skimming through the contract again. After all those years, fate truly had done a whirlwind on her life. She thought she'd be living her childhood dream as a fashion designer, but instead, she got into modeling---gaining a massive interest in it---and became a shareholder and representative of Venus Fashions.
"Hey, I like my shoes," she retorted.
"Why? What did you do?"
"Me?" She grinned innocently. "I did nothing."
"No you did. I can tell." Adrien clicked his pen repeatedly. "You went to the cafe downstairs, ordered a drink that looked like it could poison you, and I never saw you drink it. And then you disappeared for like, an hour."
"Ehh, I'll tell you about it later."
Her gaze went into the walls of the room. The walls were electronically switched to be transparent at that moment. She could see the CEO Tim Drake visibly freaking out outside, with his employees trying to calm him down. He was dressed more appropriately compared to before, but his dark circles and messy hair stayed the same.
When he opened the door and saw her, he blanched right away.
Adrien stood up. "Mr. Drake. It's a pleasure to meet you." He shook hands with a silently panicking Tim. "Adrien Graham de Vanily. Assistant Representative in Venus Fashions. This is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, our main representative and the project co-leader."
Tim smiled stiffly at her. "Ye---yes. It's nice to meet you both too."
Throughout the meeting, Marinette noticed Tim stammering over his words occasionally and sneaking worried glances at her. Adrien would also side-eye her, but it spoke of confusion and reproach instead.
Monsieur Drake's probably dying to apologize, Marinette thought. Truth be told, she didn't mind that mishap. It was quite amusing.
She sat back and watched Tim accidentally drop his laser pointer while the other WE staff stared helplessly. Her fingers drummed on top of her lap. I think I'll be looking forward to this project.

The Scent of Ambrosia
Tim was banned from caffeine, and everyone knew. Alfred put his foot down. No coffee beans could be found in the manor, but Tim expected that when he hit all-nighter number fifteen. But the next day, he found that all his regular drinks in Wayne Enterprises were replaced with juice. Even the vending machines stopped supplying coffee. He made it through to the end of work with an energy drink he managed to snag off an employee's not-so-secret stash. The coffee substitute would hold him over till he could sneak over to a cafe. Right after work, however, he learned that all of the cafes in Gotham refused to sell him any caffeinated drinks. Not even tea was spared from the ban. Convenience stores were the same story. So were grocery stores. And restaurants. Even street-side stalls. Any and all establishments in Gotham wouldn't sell him his fix, and he had tried every single one in a zombie-like haze.
The same was the case for the neighboring cities. Everyone refused Tim Drake-Wayne his beloved coffee. He had no idea how Alfred pulled it off, but he would have been impressed if he wasn't so numbed out by the caffeine withdrawals.
That was how Tim found himself on a bus headed to a small town far enough from Gotham for no one to recognize him on sight. It helped that when he was deciding whether to give in to his family's demands of sleep or go out of the state, a faded-out poster of a minor, unknown coffee festival was blown by the wind towards him by chance. He was about to dodge the incoming paper, but the smell emanating from the poster made him snatch it instinctively. Coffee. The paper smelled of the heavenly drink, but somehow it was different. He didn't know how to describe it, but it just was. It was more than coffee. It was Coffee. It energized him like never before as if it was charging up his very soul. He was pumped up as if he had slept for a week straight. Tim absolutely had to get his hands on this beverage, ban be damned. If the scent alone did this, the drink had to be pure magic in his veins. If he can bring some of it home, maybe he can stay awake for a month on one cup.
On the bus, Tim blazed through his work for the next week in under an hour. It was when he was working on the next quarter's research budget for Wayne Technologies that he smelled it again - the heavenly coffee. It was only now that he realized that the hint he smelled on the poster was a mere fraction of the wonder that is its scent. Underneath the bold smell of coffee, there were hints of caramel and nuts and sugar and spice and cinnamon and apples. It was divine. There were even undertones that Tim couldn't describe as anything but liquid warmth and joy wrapped in a bow. It was the perfect scent, his perfect scent - his ambrosia. He had no other way to express it. It pulled him in like nothing ever before. One whiff and he was enslaved.
As the vehicle drew nearer to its final destination, the scent of his ambrosia only grew stronger. Once he stepped down at the bus stop, almost subconsciously, Tim made a beeline for the source of the smell, a stall with an insanely long line.
Tim kept fidgeting as he waited for the line to move, absorbed in the scent and longing to come nearer, but despite that, he couldn't ignore the obvious glances the locals threw his way. It wasn't surprising. He was a stranger in a small town. An alpha stranger and one without a pheromone isolator in a crowd at that. Nearly all alphas always had one on them, as their heightened senses can make a packed environment overwhelming to them. People's pheromones, especially, would shove themselves in their face, making them dizzy from the sensory overload. It was easier for alphas to go about their day with an isolator, but it was not unheard of for some to opt not to. Those types were usually either insane or genius. Neither was good news. Tim was part of a separate category, however. He was selectively anosmic, specifically towards secondary characteristic pheromones. It was rare but not unheard of in betas, especially. Alphas were a different story. He'd gotten pitying glances throughout his life - the poor alpha who couldn't smell pheromones, the one in a billion. Out of spite, he read all about the world of scents, saw the advertisements targetting alpha-omega pairs, and asked everyone he knew how they felt about the sense, but he could not come to a conclusion other than it was overrated and romanticized. How could you fall so hard for only a scent? How could it be so overwhelmingly divine? If anything, Tim was grateful he couldn't smell pheromones. He never had to suffer the discomfort of smelling an omega's heat scent or a fellow alpha's aggressive pheromone attack. He rarely fell prey to his more primitive instincts. His life was complete even without pheromones. He could never imagine what pheromones would smell like, but from how hyped up everyone made it out to be, maybe it would be a close second to the heavenly coffee ambrosia. That was the only way to explain everyone's fascination with it.
The line moved fairly quickly, and soon, Tim was at the front. There, the scent was the strongest it ever was. He could see a tall and slender blonde manning the register while a petite woman was at the back working the espresso machine.
"Hi, there! What size and caffeine level can I get you?" he gave a blinding beam.
"I'd like the largest cup of the strongest coffee you serve."
That made the cashier pause. "...You want the dare-spresso? An epic one at that? Are you sure?"
Tim looked him straight in the eye, "Absolutely."
"Alphas. Guess we need another ambulance," he muttered under his breath before turning to the bluenette behind him. "One epic dare-spresso, Mari!"
She groaned before looking at which idiot ordered it again. Tim was floored. Her eyes were like a wave that threatened to pull him under. There was this unexplainable magnetism pulling him to the girl, and all Tim wanted to do was surrender to the urge.
"Looks like we have another one, huh," Tim heard from behind him.
"Here's some advice, kid," an older gentleman spoke from beside the stall. "There are easier ways to impress a girl than dying of a coffee overdose."
"I'm really just here for the coffee," Tim tried to explain but the blush spreading on his cheeks and the way he had just stared at the barista made his statement doubtful.
"Sure, and I still have both arms," another man with a visible prosthetic said.
"There's nothing to be embarrassed about, everyone loves Mari. Though, hopefully, you won't pass out like the last challenger," said a woman with a stylish afro.
"Challenger?"
"You didn't know? It was on the festival poster. If you can gulp the drink down straight in under five minutes and keep your heart rate in check, you get a date with the barista."
"Oh?" Tim was definitely interested now. "Can I get another cup to-go then?"
"Oh, god, there's two of them," the cashier groaned. "Mari, make it two for loverboy here."
The bluenette in the back sputtered, "A-Adrien!"
"What?" the man looked back innocently. "If he's that confident, maybe he really can sweep you off your feet."
The girl glared at him while handing over an oversized cup, but it was hardly effective with how flustered she was.
"Bottoms up," the cashier passed over the cup.
Tim smelled the coffee, but it wasn't the scent he was looking for. It was great, better than any cup he had before, but the ambrosia he longed for wasn't coming from the drink. There was a hint of it, but Tim could tell it was from an indirect scenting.
He could think about that later. First, he had a date to win over.
He started gulping the hot coffee, but his tongue was well used to the burn. It tasted just as wonderful as Tim had imagined on the way there. It was like liquid fire in his veins and tasted like a godsend. It was perfect for him. It had all the right flavors, and although the aroma couldn't hold a candle to the scent of ambrosia, it was worlds apart from anything else he had smelled before.
In under three minutes, Tim had finished the gigantic coffee, and he had never felt more alive since he was six. From the outside, however, he looked the same - composed and unaffected.
"Looks like this one has a shot, huh," another passerby commented.
The cashier clipped a pulse oximeter to his finger, and the crowd that Tim hadn’t noticed gathered around him waited with bated breath.
"Seventy!" the blonde announced.
"What a legend," someone whispered.
"Guess Mari isn't the only one who can stomach the stuff," a second voice said.
The cashier pushed the bluenette toward Tim, causing her to stumble straight into his arms, "Adrien!"
Tim knew he should be helping her up, but he relished in the warmth of the girl against his chest.
"Sorry about that," she said, looking away from him. "I'm Marinette."
"Tim," he replied. He only now noticed that the heavenly coffee scent was stronger than ever, and it was coming straight from the girl still within his arms.
"You have a coffee-scented cologne?" The scent smelled too natural for a perfume, but Tim couldn't think of any other reason for the scent if it wasn't from the coffee beans.
"N-No, those are my pheromones," she squeaked, burying her face in Tim's chest and causing his heart to skip a beat.
"Pheromones? But I can't smell those," he said, bewildered.
"Maybe it's fate, huh, bug?" the cashier grinned wildly at the two. "How lucky."
Marinette burrowed further into Tim's chest at the comment, ears turning a brighter red.
If this was fate, then maybe Tim had used up all his life's luck for this chance, and he had zero regrets.

Life or death
Prompt "it lives"
Masterlist
"It lives," Damian deadpanned.
Tim looked up at him from where he lay on the ground. He wasn't completely sure what had happened but there was a frenzy of movement and then he was falling back. He started to move one to realize he was pinned down. He couldn’t really do anything to help at the angle he had landed and she was floundering a bit. Her hood had fallen down over her face. He grunted as her elbow dug into his ribs.
“Oh my gosh, I think I’m on top of someone,” she said.
“You are. You definitely are,” he grunted.
“Necromancers are supposed to bring people back to life, I didn’t realize it was after killing them.”
She shifted up and Tim could breathe again when her elbow moved. He was still stuck down as she was still on top of him, just sitting up. She removed her hood and he realized he might not mind that much. If he had to go, he could do worse than with a beautiful girl on top of him.
“Clearly there was a bit of confusion. I am death so maybe we just go together.”
She looked down at him. He was a bit worried about the flirty line. He hadn’t even properly met her but it was a party. What would be the point if he wasn’t trying to flirt a little. He probably should find out if she was single.
“That does seem to be a match. But necromancy would be opposing death so maybe I have you right where I want you.”
He took a chance and slid his hand up her side. She continued to sit right where she was. He heard Damian make a disgusted noise before turning away.
“I’m Tim.”
“Marinette. So now that I have conquered death, do I get to see your face?”
“I think that could be arranged. I might like to get up first.”
She shifted off him and they both stood. He removed his mask. He hadn’t thought about how weird it would feel to take off a mask in a room full of people. But it was worth it when she gave him an appreciative look. She took his hand and pulled him along. She seemed to know the place a little better than him so she easily found a bottle of wine and a quiet place hidden from the rest of the party where they ended up talking for hours.

Meet Cute Monday 39

..................................
Kon trailed behind Lex confused. Mercy hadn’t made the situation any clearer when he had asked earlier and now Lex was exuding the same vibes he did when he was entering business meetings. He really didn’t know what to make of it.
“Dad... in English, can you explain why I’m here again?”
“Because, my son, I would like you to start networking. It is important to know others in the field, both currently in charge as well as their mentee’s who in time will be in control as the time requires it. Having their ear is important for you to succeed if Superman turns or leaves or follow in my own footsteps.”
“And were meeting the bunch of bad guys...?”
“Visionaries sweetheart, contemporary visionaries. We all want to the world to be a better place, we just have... different ideologies and approaches of what that could be than the Justice League. They see the world in such black and white, where it’s full of greys.”
“And I’m here to network.”
“Yes. As its the summer, a lot of those who I’m meeting will be bringing their apprentices with them. You just need to keep on the nicer side of them.”
His dad turned and paused to look at Kon with his sharp eyes. As Lex tilted his head, Kon wish he could get a better read of him and know what he saw, what he really was asking for.
“Just be yourself and don’t ruffle any feathers. If you don’t agree with what they are saying, for today, don’t comment and store it for information to use at a later date sweetheart.”
In response Kon just nodded cautiously like he understood but he was still mystified by it all. Lex smiled softly at him, like he was precious, innocent that needed to be protected from the world and leant in and ruffled his hair.
Kon let out a squark pushing his dad’s hands away growling at the man for mucking up his perfectly styled hair. He could see his dad smirking as he turned back and gesturing to follow him down the corridor. Kon huffed and rolled his eyes. He knew that Lex had done that on purpose to make him relax, and frustratingly as it meant he’d keep doing it, it had worked.
.....
Standing near Mercy in a large dome like room, Kon watched as Slade glared with contempt at his dad. His dad just rolled his eyes at the mercenary’s dramatic behaviour and straightened out his suit brushing imaginary dust from the sleeves.
“Is there a problem Wilson.”
“It’s the school holidays.”
“And?”
“I’ve had to bring Janie’s brat with me. This will give him more dangerous idea’s than he already has. He doesn’t need this kinda influence.”
Kon watched with wide eyes as Lex suppressed a shuddered. His dad never looked uncomfortable, and now it was unsettling as the scarred man seemed to cause that affect. He took a slight step closer to Mercy, who rested her hand on his shoulder, for comfort.
“You’re looking after Janets child?”
“Janie has decided to stop CPS getting involved due to a ‘concerned teacher’ that *I* need to play doting uncle to the menace during the holidays.”
Lex looked tense as Kon observed from the distance. His dad looked around the room before stopping at a pair of two dark haired children chattering animatedly with weapons in hand and blanched.
“Shiva’s brought her niece too Luthor. There’s a reason we all agreed not to have these meetings in holiday’s unless there is an emergency. So,” the mercenary growled, “what’s the emergency.”
“I hadn’t realised that the terror twins would be here...”
“Figured.”
“I have information that presently doesn’t result in an emergency, but unfortunately unless addressed could cause us all issues in the future. Mercy, please take Kon and supervise the youngsters while I discuss matters with my business partners.”
Mercy nodded and started to lead Kon away from his dad towards, who he suspected were the ‘terror twins’. Glancing back at his dad, Lex just nodded to him in what he guessed was meant to be a reassuring gesture but looked more like a wince with how Slade’s rough voice danger as he spoke at the same time.
“This better be worth it Luthor.”
.....
The terror twins were not what Kon expected them to be. They weren’t in fact twins at all despite their similar appearance according to Mercy. The boy appeared to be almost painfully shy, hiding behind the girl who appeared to be rainbow and sunshine as Kon approached. He was whispering in her ear glancing repeatedly at Kon with enormous steel blue eyes compared to the warm bluebell ones of the girl.
In heavily accented English the girl beamed at Kon, putting her hand out to shake his hand.
“Hi, I’m Marinette. This is Tim. Why do you look like Superman??”
Kon blinked at her, his eyes darting between the two and up at Mercy hoping that he’s father's assistant would be of help as he reached out to receive an enthusiastic handshake. Unfortunately, Mercy just smiled with amusement at him and left him to fend for himself against these ‘friendly wolves’ as she made her way towards where the refreshments were.
“Err...”
“Mars! You can’t just ask him that!”
Tim seemed horrified by his blunt friend, nervously twitching as if he would be getting into trouble.
“Why? You said he did, and it didn’t make sense cos superman doesn’t have a child his age.”
Kon winced, knowing his other biological doner wasn’t completely aware of him and had his own child, much to his dad’s disgust. It hurt that the girl, Marinette was so forward with her reasoning.
“Because Mars, its rude! People don’t like being interrogated.”
“Pfft! You stalk people, interrogations just the next step Timmy.”
“Not really, Uncle Slade says you can use that info to blackmail is the next step... or to eliminate them.”
“Well, Auntie Sandra says the best thing is to just eliminate if they don’t give you the information you need.”
“Err...”
Two sets of almost glowing blue eyes rounded on Kon, their attention now shifted to him. A slow blush started to make is way up his cheeks. He wasn’t used to being so intensely looked at. Especially by two cute fellow tweens. Between the pair of them it felt like they were seeing into his soul, there was something about them together that was slightly unsettling with the intensity of their gaze.
Marinette nudged Tim, who now Kon was there and Marinette taking the attention off him was opening up, shoved her back causing them to burst into cackles.
“Sorry, Mars is a handful.” Tim got between giggles. “You do look a lot like Supes though, you know?”
“Umm... yeah, we share some similar DNA I guess...”
“Ooooo! Like family?” Marinette managed to get out, her laughter slowly becoming manageable.
“I guess you could say that.”
“Timmy? Does Supes have other family members? I can’t see much of Mr Luther in him.”
“Mars!”
“Timmy’s a superhero expert. He knows all about them and everything. His ridiculously smart.”
Tim looked down almost shy at how his ‘twin’ was selling his skillset. Kon grinned at the pair, nodding along as they seemed to bicker and ‘bigging up’. They really weren’t what he was expecting from skilled fighters' younger family members.
“Why are you guys here with your uncle and aunt?”
The pair looked at each other and seemed to converse with just facial expressions alone. Kon felt out the loop and unsure before Marinette spoke up blandly.
“Parents.”
Kon just blinked at Marinette, her monotonous tone and robotic response was apparently meant to explain everything. He looked to Tim for more information as Kon was just confused by the answer.
“They run businesses. School keeps us out their hair during term time. In the summer... they’re busy people with important roles. Apparently leaving kids unsupervised isn’t allowed so *family time*.”
Tim waved jazz hands at *family time* as Kon looked surprised and tried to seek Mercy or his dad to work out what the pair were implying. He knew his dad was a busy man running multiple things, but he (or Mercy) always made time for him. Why didn’t theirs?
“That doesn’t sound... fun.”
“Tim’s parents' suck!”
“Hey! Yours aren’t much better.”
“Least I live with them most of the year and they do spend time with me when not working.”
Sensing an impending argument about to break out with the heat in the twins' eyes and that it was potentially a regular disagreement, Kon tried to distract them. He was here to network and so far, he’d only met these two, who seemed not the future visionaries his dad had warned him against.
“Are we the only ones our age here?”
The dazzling smile that Marinette sent Kon, felt like it warmed his soul. Tim slipped a hesitant hand into his, causing Kon’s stomach to flutter.
“Nah, the rest are in the den. Mars and I were being nosy as to who was coming. We’ll take you there.”
“Tim’s cousins are there too. They look scary but aren’t really.”
“Too you, maybe.”
The pair nattered playfully, telling Kon all the ins and outs, what to look out for, who to avoid, of the next generation of ‘visionaries’ as they lead him to the den. During the journey to the den, they somehow invited him in on a dare/prank they were planning on later. Listening to their plan helped Kon understand why they got their terror twin name causing him to smile as he enthusiastically agreed to help.
......
Kon looked sheepishly up at his dad who’d just re-entered the main cabin of the plane with a towel around his next and in a fresh suit. He hadn’t expected the pranks to cause so much mess and for his dad to be one of the many victims.
“I’m sorry, Dad. I didn’t realise that it would be so... so...”
He couldn’t find the word to describe the carnage that Tim and Marinette had manage to produce with so little.
“It’s ok sweetheart. You met the terror twins. It’s reminded me why we rarely meet in the holidays.”
“Are they always like that?”
“That pair... yes... Wilson and Shiva teamed up once to work around having to babysit their sibling's demonic offspring. They’ve sworn never to do it again.”
“They look cute working together.”
They really had looked cute. They bounced ideas off each other, giving passionate speeches about the plans, and the back up plans, and the alternatives to that one, and contingency plans. Watching them seemed to give the other young adults headaches but Kon found it amazing how in tune two non-family members could be. They seemed more in sync than some of the best hero teams he’d seen from a distance. The way their eyes shimmered. Their checks flushed with excitement. The way Marinette stuck her tongue out when she concentrated, the way Tim seemed to pace as he thought. Kon loved being part of it.
“They’re menaces! Any time those two get wind of what we are planning, even a minute whisper, all luck turns against us.”
“Really? But, they’re my age. They’re civilians.”
“Those two are not civilians Kon. Mark my words. The universe holds some strange regard for them. They will NEVER just be civilian's sweetheart.”
“So, is it a good thing that they’ve decided that they want me as a friend?”
His dad stopped and slowly put his drink down and looked at Kon. Really looked at Kon like he was trying to read his soul, but after meeting Marinette and Tim, it kind of fell flat for some reason. His dad sighed and just looked tired as he leant back into his chair as he gazed at Kon.
Kon gulped but sat up straighter, waiting for his dad’s judgement.
“Do you want to be their friend?”
Kon paused and thought about it. He definitely wanted to be in the action with them earlier. Their energy was contagious. Being a friend was something more though, not just joining in. It meant being there for them, like they were for each other. Kon thought of his relationships he had at school, around CADMUS, around Lex Corp. They all felt superficial in comparison to what they had. He wanted that too. To be a part of... something.
“I- yeah, I do dad.”
Lex paled but nodded. A gentle fond smile graced his dad face as he sighed and started to tap away on his phone.
“I’ll talk to their current guardians to see if they are willing to let you meet up with them. Separately. I refuse to embrace the chaos they’ll bring together yet. They may not be the next Deathstroke or Lady Shiva, but I do approve of your building connections, sweetheart. They could nicely be a bridge into a new grey area for the moment.”
Kon relaxed into his seat and slowly closed his eyes embracing the exhaustion that flooded his body that he hadn’t realised he had from the anxiety the day had brought.
He listened to the rumble of the engines as Mercy flew them back to Metropolis. His dad was sorting things out and dealing with work. Kon bathed in the comforting knowledge that he will get to meet the terror twins again as he fell into a sleep.

Context:
Damian is recovering from memory loss after a mission having gone wrong. With his memories barely in tact and only remembering his family's names, Damian was placed into 24 hour surveillance and staying home until his memories returned…hopefully. While at home, Damian was encouraged to do whatever he felt comfortable in doing, drawing and painting being one of them. Out of nowhere, Damian started to remember something from a very long time ago.
A03
“Baby Beluga in the deep blue sea,
Swim so wild and you swim so free,
Heaven above and the sea below,
And a little white whale on the go.”
Jason stopped half stride as he heard someone sing, ensuing him to figure out who it was.
“Baby Beluga, baby Beluga,” Jason turned a hall, muttering in disbelief when the voice came from Damian’s room
“Is the water warm, is your mama home,” He couldn’t believe it…
“With you so happy?” It really was Damian singing, the boy lost in his painting as he slowly swiped his brush across the incomplete canvas in front of him.
In the few weeks that Damian was brought to them, Jason has never heard the boy sing. Hell, he never sang to begin with. So hearing him sing, nonetheless a song that seemed so familiar to the boy, Jason knew he had to get Dick.
Damian watched as the blue paint he dabbed onto the canvas started to morph into a small rubber whale, watching as his hands morphed into small chubby ones, holding onto said whale. He watched as he threw the whale just a few inches away from himself, laughing up a storm when he watched the whale barely sink upon hitting the water
His own squeals were soon accompanied by some distant giggling, Damian feeling his entire body lighten up upon hearing the familiar laugh, feeling the need to smile as he turned to look at the person next to him, her face resting on the edge of the bathtub. Large bluebell eyes smiled at him.
“Was that fun, Dami? Was it fun?” She asked him, Damian finding himself just squealing as she pinched his cheek. “Oh you’re just so cute! Let’s get you washed up, okay?” She tucked a strand of midnight hair behind her ear before she went to scrub his hair.
“Way down yonder where the dolphins play,
Where you dive and splash all day,” She slowly rinsed the soap off, Damian watching the suds surround him.
“The waves roll in and the waves roll out,
See the water squirting out of your spout.” She brought his bath toys closer to him when Damian started to cry as he watched his beluga toy float away.
“Baby Beluga, oh baby Beluga,
Sing your little song, sing for all your friends,
We like to hear you.” She sang as she took him out of the tub and wrapped a towel around him, kissing his nose as she took him to his room.
The room was dim, only a lamp lit the room, speckling the room with tiny stars of light. She laid him on the bed and quickly put him into a soft pair of pajamas so that he would remain warm.
“When its dark and your home and fed,
Curled up snug in your water bed,” She sang as she tucked him under some blankets and laid right beside him.
“Moon is shining and the stars are out,
Good night little whale good night.” She sang, Damian feeling his eyes turn heavy, his consciousness fighting the drowsiness that enveloped his body.
“Baby Beluga, oh baby Beluga,
With tomorrow's sun, another day's begun,
You'll soon be waking.” He found himself closing his eyes.
Baby Beluga in the deep blue sea,
Swim so wild and you swim so free,
Heaven above and the sea below,
And a little white whale on the go.
You're just a little white whale on the go.” Damian whispered as he opened his eyes, lifting his paintbrush away from the canvas, finally leaning back to look at the woman staring back at him. Or at least, he knew the face of a woman was looking at him, but try as he may, for the life of him, he just couldn’t-
“What do you have there, Dami?” Dick asked, Damian controlling his flinching from the sudden call. “Who’s that? Someone you know?”
Damian felt something stir in chest, because the longer he tried to stare at her face, he couldn’t see her face. He could only see, he could only recognize the bright shade of bluebell that he adored to see everyday. He loved her attention. Her hugs. He loved her voice and yet… “Damian. Is everything-”
“I don’t know.” Damian answered in the quietest voice Dick had ever heard him speak since he had known the kid. “I don’t know who she is.”
“Well for someone you don’t know…she’s very pretty.”
“She was.” Damian found himself saying, feeling his mind muddle. “She was very pretty…and her voice was pretty. She’d always sing me the same lullaby while tucking me in for bed.” Damian admitted.
“She tucked you into bed? When you were younger?”
“I think…I’m not completely sure.” Damian looked at her face one last time, but like always, he could only see her eyes.
Eyes that he wished he could see again.
What he would give to be able to see her again. “But I know one thing.
I used to call her Momma.”
“Momma! Momma don’t go!” Damian yelled as Talia pulled him back, Damian watching as Momma was guided out the League’s compound, her luggage carried by two guards. “Momma!”
Damian watched as she stopped and said something to the guards. She turned around and simply smiled. “Momma?”
“Take care Dami. Grow up and find me, okay?” She smiled one last time before she turned around, Damian watched her disappear into the exit that led to the outside world he was forbidden to go into.
“MOMMA!”

Have you never heard of such a thing, darling?
(The Timari Buzzfeed Unsolved AU)
Chapter 5: The Mysterious Case of the Dupain-Cheng Household
Lovingly, if you guys want to leave off on a kinda happy note, I suggest not reading this last one
Adrien smiles at the screen. He looks human, even if his hair is a little tousled and his skin is a little too clear. He probably could be a model, if that was what he wanted.
Of course, that was clearly not what he wanted, as he was currently filming a video for YouTube.
He waves to the camera.
“In this episode, I am going to solve the mystery of whether Tim Drake and Marinette Dupain-Cheng are dating!” he says, before immediately turning the camera around to show the pair of them curled up in bed together. Tim’s face is pressed into the crook of Marinette’s neck, his arms wrapped around her tightly even in his sleep. Marinette is awake, one hand lazily playing with Tim’s hair, the other doomscrolling on her phone. “Sorry, Gothamites, but it looks like you’re not going to get Tim back.”
She looks up at Adrien. Tries to look mildly annoyed, as if that will distract from the red starting to dust its way across her cheeks.
Adrien gives a dead-eyed stare to the camera. “Anyways… yes. They are dating. Save me.”
Marinette sets her phone down to give Adrien what can be assumed to be a rude gesture, but it is censored with a giant demonetization symbol.
Adrien only laughs in response, blowing a kiss her way.
She rolls her eyes, but still responds by blowing him a kiss of her own.
The demon seems to light up at the affection, a bounce in his step when he leaves.
Adrien pulls the camera away, and the video continues to follow him as he walks downstairs and takes a seat on the couch. For just a moment, people start to wonder whether this was a simple mistake and he forgot to cut out this part of the video. Confused viewers touch their screens, wanting to check to see how much longer the video is supposed to be continuing on for.
Only to find that the video is supposed to be over.
The time stamp reads 0:28/0:28.
So, why is there more?
Adrien looks at the camera again, and all traces of joy are gone from his expression. His eyes still gleam, but this is far less amused, far more wicked.
“Aren’t my humans cute?” Adrien asks the audience. It doesn’t feel like a real question, or even just a conversation starter. It sounds like a threat. “Tell me how cute they are in the comments below!”
He rests his head in his hand. His elbow is seemingly propped on thin air, but this doesn’t bother him in the slightest.
“Now that that’s out of the way. I want to talk to all of the government officials and researchers who have decided that they want a piece of me. I’m flattered and all, but…” He smiles wider than usual, showing off a set of wicked fangs that always seemed to be missing in the looks he gives Marinette and Tim. “Stop. You have finite resources, I don’t. And I will continue to dwindle down your numbers until you all leave me alone.”
He laughs, but this time there is a cruel note to it.
“Oh, and just in case you get any funny ideas. Touch my humans and I will start bringing innocents into this. It’s only fair, don’t you think?”
He tilts his head too far to the side, his smile stretching still wider. His mouth is no longer entirely fitting on his face, the corners almost seeming to have escaped it entirely. “And don’t bother trying to warn Tim and Mari in the comments, by the way. They won’t be hurt. You will.”
The viewer’s hands paused where they had been typing out that exact warning to the owners of the channel. For a moment, they dared to think it was a bluff, they began to type out the rest of their sentence.
Then, too-cold arms looped around them from behind, crossing themselves over their chest, a body (if you could call the writhing mass behind them that) pressing against their back. A chin came to rest atop their head.
“Well, you can’t say that I didn’t try to tell you,” it said, its mouth not moving, its voice so deep it buzzed in their ears. Long, gnarled, clawed fingers began to dig into their sides, not even stopped for a second by the fabric of their shirt. They couldn’t even bring themself to scream. “Leave my humans alone.”
Blood splattered.
It paid no mind. Bloodied claws reached over their slumped form, to their keyboard.
It held down backspace.
And then typed a simple message for the channel that it so adored:
What a cute couple :)

Maribat Ships and My Vibe Explanations
These are based on the most popular tropes and scenarios I've seen particularly for a specific ship, but some are my own vision:) Moodboards I made for each ship, which are partially inspired by the below thoughts, are linked in the ship name.
Brucinette:
Boss x Secretary trope or Socialite meets Other Socialite and Both Discover each other is Less Shallow than they Thought
Alternatively,
Hero x Villain Love story.
Look, we all know Bruce has a bad track record with his Rogues and also Love in general
Black Cat Mari is the most popular, probably, but I think we should see more Villain/ Morally Grey Mari with other Miraculi
Not my favourite ship but it can be fun
Particularly when we add Dad Bruce and Mari gets to adopt the Batkids and be a Cool MomTM.
Dickinette:
Often a Villain x Hero romance, usually Black Cat Marinette and Nightwing.
A good trope to be sure, but I think we should spice it up more.
Vampire Dick Truthers (you know who you are) have a point with their Vampire Dick and Mari fics. Why not make Dick the villain in Mari's Rogue Gallery???
Overall a great trope, especially if you really delve into their characters: both are 'sunshine' characters who fight everyday to be the nice, kind heroes everyone thinks they are and expects them to be, even though it's the hardest route to take.
Jasonette:
(I'm biased as it's my #1 Maribat ship, but I'll try not to go on too long >.<)
Villain x Hero? Hero x Hero? Amazing, outstanding. What about Villain x Villain? I myself would love to see more Rogue Jason and Rogue Mari fics.
Any AU is amazing. I admit to having a fondness for Mob Boss Jason, partly because he is one in canon, at least for a while, and because I'm addicted to dark/mafia romance novels. Lieutenant Mari? Yes, please. Rival Mob Boss Mari? Heck yeah! Bat-affiliate Mari? Gimme. Please.
The amount of character exploration you could do if you wrote a romance where they actually stayed together, looking at you, DC is intriguing. Would Jason change for someone he loved? Would he give up crime lording? Would Mari accept him anyways but then they'd have to deal with one half running from the law/vigilantes and the other half being on the vigilantes' side?
Also, soft Jason. Nerding out over books and music and fashion and appreciating the fine things in life and meeting this cute fashion designer with a penchant to listen to Jagged Stone-
So many AU opportunities!! Bakery AU! Mafia AU! Coffee Shop AU! Meetcute at the Museum AU!...
Okay I'll move on now:(
Timari:
LISTEN
This ship IS THE DEFINITION OF THE CEO X SECRETARY TROPE!
I need more, I don't care if it's overused
Also, rival hackers or geniuses.
OR COFFEE SHOP AU
They're both coffee monsters, it's perfect
No I don't care that there are two dozen coffee shop Timari AUs, give me more.
Daminette:
ACADEMIC RIVALS TO LOVERS
Or just rivals to lovers is fine too
YOU REALLY THINK THESE TWO 'MUST BE THE TOP IN CLASS' WOULDN'T BE FIGHTING OVER GRADES AND THEN PAIRED UP ON AN ASSIGNMENT BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO INTENSE TO WORK WITH ANYONE ELSE AND THEN THEY HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER AT ALL TIMES LEST THE OTHER SABOTAGE THEIR PROJECT AND THEN THEY FALL IN LOVE-
anyways
I'm not even into HP but I want a Hogwarts AU with these two-
or any dark academia rivals to lovers au
Roynette:
Enemies or Rivals to Lovers
It's just a simple misunderstanding, as all large rifts start off with.
There's a translation issue or an eavesdropping that is taken out of context
(they're both idiots your honour)
But then something happens and they have to work together or they're made to talk and they realize it's all just a misunderstanding
And then they're like... " while we're clearing the air...so uh, I kinda have a crush on you'
"no way, me too!!"
And Mari meets Lian (or maybe that's what starts this, Jason and Mari are hanging out babysitting Lian and Roy comes to pick Lian up and they start talking and and and-)
And Mari loves Lian immediately of course, who wouldn't?
And so Roy likes her more because she likes Lian so automatically she's not as bad as he thought, and Lian really likes her too
And then they fall in love and Jason and Lian are the master matchmakers behind the scenes
You can pry OTP Jason & Lian setting up Roynette out of my cold dead hands
Konette:
I haven't seen or read a ton of Konette, but they usually meet at the Titans
Friends to Lovers 100%
They're both quiet and new and feeling out the dynamics
so they're often pushed together on purpose or by accident because the others are just so loud and chaotic
And then they become BFFs and are less inclined to join the others' chaos and so spend more time together, and so the cycle continues
And then one day something happens
Kon is Kryptonian and Mari had the Miraculous, they're usually the least-damaged members, but something happens, there's Kryptonite or magic or Something and one or both gets hurt.
The other jumps in front of them to take the blow because they can't let the other get hurt
"Why did you do that?!"
"I couldn't let you get hurt. You need to save our teammates."
Then the hurt one faints or passes out and the other confesses and thinks they can't hear them
They get back to the Tower safely and get treated and wake up and then they see the other
"Did you say you loved me, when I was passed out?"
"You heard that? Uh...yeah, I love you."
"I love you too!"
I haven't read much of any of the other ships to get a good feel on them, so I'm stopping here:)

Part 4 of timinette siblings with Kon and Bart coming over and bonding?
Maybe they were on an off-world mission of something and they video-called him
A second Anonymous person asked: If you make a part 4 (you do not have to) for the sibling Tim and Marinette, I think its time we see some protective big brother Tim moments don't you think? Stepping in when he spots a guy crowding his sister to suing Lila and Alya when he discovers the bullying, and the blog. Helping Mama Sabine bring evidence to the school board over the mistreatment of Mari, maybe his reaction to hearing Damien calling Mari a 'harlot' or 'tramp' (Tim totally goes to Luka for 'how to be best big bro' advice)
So I’ve decided to put them together. Enjoy!
Siblings Don’t Stand Back and Watch, They Always Get Involved
First <> Previous
Tim absolutely ADORED his sister.  She had done so much for him and he could never thank her and her their parents enough.  Tim had gone from hating who he was and feeling like a tool to be used and tossed away to knowing that he was loved and needed not for his intellect and what he could give, he was needed because he existed and they enjoyed spending time with him.  They were all so supportive of him and his choices, and he almost cried when they said it was okay if he didn’t want to talk some days and just silently stayed with him. No interrogation, no forceful tactics, not even a hint of manipulation, they just loved and cared for him.
He had explained all of this to Cass during a lunch they had together while Marinette was at school.  She had smiled brightly at him and said,
“Happy for you Little Brother.  They good for you.”
Her tone was gentle and he could hear and feel the joy and love that she felt for him.  Once he was finished retelling everything that had happened since they had seen each other in person he asked her about her time in Hong Kong and about all of the different things she had done and learned there.  He loved the way her eyes lit up as she signed out all of her experiences.  The way she moved her hands with such excitement and the swiftness showed just how much she loved the new city she called home.
After they finished their lunch Cass asked if they could surprise Marinette at school.  Now that Tim thought about it, he’s never actually been to Marinette’s school before, and it had been months.  He quickly nodded and they headed to Collège Françoise Dupont to surprise their little sister at her school.  Once they got close enough to the school they could hear a loud commotion which worried Tim.
“Look at Maritrash!”
“Where are your bodyguards now, huh?”
“Not so invincible now, are you?”
“I can’t believe she would do that to Lila!”
“What happened to the sweet girl we once knew?”
Tim and Cass made eye contact for a moment before both rushed through the crowd and through the school in search of the small bluenette.  He had heard things here and there about how cruel some of the people here could be, heard about the girl that could twist anything, but it seems that it was extremely downplayed if this was what was happening during their lunch hour.
They shoved their way toward the center of the gathered mass of students to see Marinette in the center, food completely covering her, and every time she took a step toward the crowd in hopes of an opening to escape, she was pushed back and something else was thrown at her.  And near the center watching what was going on with a face full of sorrow, but eyes full of gleeful malice and Tim snapped.
“Marinette!”
He yelled while rushing towards her which caused her gaze to snap towards him.  He quickly pulled her to his chest which caused her to start shaking, her breath spiking slightly, his shirt becoming damp.  He needed to get them out of Paris and quickly before Hawkmoth got the opportunity to use her rightful emotions against her.
“Cass, I need you to call Kon.”
He yelled over the cacophony of people yelling and shouting profanities toward him.  He couldn’t focus on that right now though, he had to stay vigilant and protect his sister.  She was priority number one at the moment.  He wondered where the others were, but then recalled that Chloe, Adrien, and Kagami were on a business meeting with their parents out of the country.  It didn’t help that Kagami and Luka were out in different schools, but that didn’t explain where Juleka was, and he couldn’t find her in the crowd at all.  He could feel things begin to hit him, but that didn’t matter because they weren’t hitting Mari.
Bang
The entirety of the school froze and turned toward where the noise had come from.  Teachers began to pile out of the room with looks of fury and outrage even before they noticed the crowd of students, but once they did their looks made even Tim shiver in fear.
“So you think it’s funny to trap the entire faculty in the boardroom just so you could cause havoc?  Well you’ve all got another thing coming to you.”
The girl with sinister tear filled eyes spoke, clinging to another student.
“M-Marinette did it!  We tried to get her to-to stop, bu-”
“I’ve heard enough from you Rossi!  After a similar stunt was pulled we were able to get the camera footage sent directly to our phones, we know exactly what happened, and so will your parents.”
At that the girl paled, and Tim felt a vindictive satisfaction.  There was a small yank on his sleeve and he looked to the side to see Cass pulling him towards the doors.  Kon must have arrived.
“Hey, I have a few friends that want to meet you.  Follow me.”
He whispered softly into her ear.  She nodded wordlessly and let herself be pulled along as they traveled past all of the students who were still being yelled at by the teachers and staff.  Once they made it to the stairs Kon ran up to them and looked all three of them over, slightly panicked.
“What happened Tim?”
“Can you take us to the tower?  We need to get out of here quickly.”
Tim urgently replied.
“Lila might become Akumatized.”
Marinette murmured against his chest.  Tim ran his fingers through her hair and whispered,
“It’ll be you if we don’t leave now.”
Tim gently pushed her towards Kon and looked him directly in the eye,
“This is Marinette, take her first and make sure she’s safe.”
Kon nodded and waited till Marinette came towards him before he picked her up and left.  Tim slowly clenched his fists and took in long slow breaths before relaxing them again.  He needed to be level headed right now, he needed to tell their parents about what happened.  Sabine had told him all about how she, Tom, and many other parents protested against the school to the school board and how, because of that, the school had gotten new administration and a stricter zero-tolerance policy.  They needed to know about this.
Cass placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, grounding him, keeping him present.  He carefully placed his hand atop hers, taking one last calming breath before giving her a small nod.
“I need to go tell Tom and Sabine about what’s happening.”
Cass gave a serious nod and once Tim released her hand they made the quick walk to the bakery.
To say Sabine was upset would be the understatement of the century, she was enraged.
“I knew it!  I knew that it wouldn’t be enough.  We are either transferring to homeschool or to a new school completely.  Kagami said that the school she attends gives out scholarships, I just know Marientte would be able to get one with her designs.  She is never going back to that Hell Hole ever again!”
Sabine yelled as she paced anxiously around the apartment flat.  She made a quick turn and looked Tim directly in the eyes, her face softening as she did so when Tim flinched back.
“Sorry dear.  Thank you for saving Marinette.  Please make sure that she’ll be okay for us.”
Tim nodded.
“Of course.  You’ve all helped me so much, and I’d do anything for her.”
Sabine pulled him into a tight hug that he quickly returned.
“I’m so proud of you Tim.  You truly are one of the greatest souls to be on this Earth.”
Tim could feel his eyes water, but he quickly pushed them back feeling Cass’s gaze on the two of them.  He could feel the soft smile she was sending the both of them.  Sabine pulled away a few moments later only to leave a gentle kiss to his temple.
“Tell Marinette that she can stay with your friends as long as she would like.  It will take some time for me to complete the transfer process, but it will happen.”
Tim nodded, his eyes showing a determined fierceness.
“Of course.”
Tim felt his phone buzz.  Kon was back.
“Be safe.  I love you Tim, and please tell Marinette that I love her too.”
Tim nodded shyly, still unused to the open shows of affection.
“I will.”
A pause.
“I love you too.”
It wasn’t the first time he had told them that, but the words still felt foreign on his tongue.  Sabine softened a little more, placing one last kiss on his temple before she stood up and left.  And with that, Cass and Tim left the small apartment to meet Kon who was waiting for them right outside.
“How is she?”
Tim immediately asked.  Kon stared at Tim in shock, his heartbeat was through the roof.
“She was very distraught, but Cassie is taking care of her right now.”
Tim let out a sigh of relief.
“That’s good, Cassie should be able to help her.  Alright, I need you to take us.”
Kon raised a brow, he had so many questions, but from the panicked look on his friend’s (practically brother’s) face, he knew that he wasn’t going to get them until this was resolved.  He bent down slightly, letting Tim climb onto his back before he scooped Cass up and they flew to Titans Tower.
________
Marinette paced around the room like a caged animal.  There was so much that could go wrong, and she was stuck here unable to do anything.  Cassie and Bart watched her with concerned eyes.  Kon had only given them the briefest rundown of everything, saying that this was “a friend of Tim” and that he had asked for him to bring her here.
“She doesn't seem very crash.”
Bart stage whispered as he snacked on a bag of potato chips.  Cassie rolled her eyes at her friend,
“No, she doesn’t.”
Marinette wasn’t paying attention to their words though, she wasn’t even aware that they were talking.  All she could do was listen to the thoughts in her mind telling her that something bad would happen and it would be all her fault.  That because she was gone she would not be able to help or save her people if there was an attack which would make her the worst and most useless hero in the world!  Then she would lose her Miraculous, Chat would demand that she pass on the guardianship because of how irresponsible she was, Tim would abandon her when he realized how useless of a sister she was and-
Warm arms wrapped around her causing her racing mind to pause.
“I need you to breathe Mars, I know you’re scared, but everything is going to be okay.”
Marinette sucked in a deep breath, she wasn’t even aware of how shallow they had been, but now that she thought about it she had been seeing small black dots in the corner of her vision.
“That’s it, you’re doing so good now.  I’d never leave you Marinette, you and the others, you’re the last bit of family I have left.  Even if you weren't, you're still my sister, and that means everything to me.”
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she needed to fight them back, she couldn’t have strong emotions, those emotions would attract,
“It’s okay to cry now.  You’re not in Paris, if you need to cry I’m right here.”
She heard a door slide closed behind her, they were moving.  When had they even started moving?  Her body was gently moved down and she could feel herself sitting on her brother’s lap, her head resting against his chest letting her hear the steady beating of his heart.
Thump thump,
Thump thump,
Thump thump.
It was a steady rhythm, soothing in more ways than one.  Gentle fingers brushed through her hair and the dam broke as tears fell down her cheeks and sobs wracked her body.  It wasn’t fair.  She had done everything right, she was kind, patient, tried her best not to cause a scene, she forgave others, she helped them even when they didn’t like her, she had done everything right!  So why did they all hate her then?  What had she done, what was so bad about her, what did she do to make others hate her so much?!
“You didn’t do anything.  It’s all on them, you are so good Marinette, far too good.  They don’t deserve you, I don’t deserve you.  But we’re going to get through this, we’re going to do it together.  I’m not going to leave you to suffer on your own, I’ll stand by you, I’ll be your shoulder as long as you need me.”
Marinette clutched onto her brother, letting her hands fist around shirt.  Marinette didn’t know how long they were there, how long she spent ruining his shirt with her tears and snot, it could have been a few hours, minutes, even a day.  Despite that fact, Tim never once left her, always either rubbing her back, running fingers through her hair, humming, whispering comforting words, and just being the comforting presence that she needed.  It made her heart warm and helped to silence the sobs and slow the tears.  Tim loved her, he was here for.  She had Adrien, Chloe, Kagami, Luka, and her parents too.  She wasn’t alone.  Marinette slowly lifted her gaze to stare at her brother where he gave her the softest most loving smile she’d ever seen on him.
“You feelinging any better?”
He asked.  Marinette nodded, wiping the tears away with the back of her hand.  Tim leaned backwards and grabbed a box of tissues from some corner of the room they were in.
“Thank you.”
She whispered hoarsely, using the tissues to wipe her eyes and a few more to wipe her nose.  Now that she was thinking a little clearer she began to look around the room.  A mess would be an understatement, but a pigsty would be an overstatement as well.  She could tell it was a form of organized chaos, papers scattered across the floor, boards covering each of the walls with red strings wrapped around them, pens were scattered everywhere on the desk as well as stacks of manila folders filled to bursting with different papers, and when she looked up there was another board up there, this one was empty though, which was strange.  It kind of looked like her room, except it was mostly paper rather than bolts and scraps of fabric.
“Is this your room?”
She asked, sniffling slightly.  Tim blushed a little in embarrassment as he too looked around his room.
“Yea.  It probably looked a lot worse before.  I have no doubt that one of them was nice enough to clear out all of the trash and coffee mugs.  I’ll be doing the dishes for a month.”
He replied, grumbling the last sentence.  Marinette let out a small hum, leaning into the warmth that was her brother.  So who are your friends?  Tim smiled at that before he let out a long sigh.
“The one that took us here was Kon, he’s the one that we saved from that lab I told you about.  The blonde is Cassandra Sandsmark , though we call her Cassie.  She’s an Amazionian fighter, Wonder Woman’s sidekick, I think you too would get along really well.  Probably too well.”
He mumbled.  Clearing his throat he continued,
“The last one, the one who’s going to absolutely talk your ear off, is Bart.  He’s a speedster from an apocalyptic future that is living here.  So if he says something you don’t know or understand, there’s a high chance we don’t know either.”
Marinette giggled at that, causing time to smile as well.
“Your-er, Mom,”
She snickered again causing him to roll his eyes.
“Mom told me to let you know that she is going to try to transfer you to Kagami’s school.  She’s probably already called her by now to ask her about scholarships and admissions.  I’ll help of course, you deserve the best.”
Marinette sniffled again at that.  She would be leaving her old school then.  It wasn’t technically a bad thing, but it was still a foreign concept in her mind.  That she would be able to leave and escape the cruelty there.  She still had two years of school left and she had a feeling that they would be well spent at Kagami’s school, even if she did have to wear a uniform.  She had once asked Tim why he wasn’t in school, she had learned that he had actually skipped three grades and instead of graduating, like he should have, got an online GED.  He said that it didn’t matter to him since he “was running Bruce’s company before he even graduated”.  Sabine and Marinette had not been thrilled to hear that.
“Can I meet your friends?”
Tim smiled at that, he knew she was just trying to change the subject but he would let it go.  She deserved a break anyways.
“Yea, I can also get you some water since they’ll probably be in or near the kitchen anyways.”
With that marinette slowly stood up, Tim followed after her though he stretched his legs first before he opened his door and began his tour of his home-away-from-home.
__________
Tim watched from the sidelines with a smile as he watched his friends/family talk with Marinette.  He had no doubt that they would all get along, but it was still a relief and a weight off his shoulders to truly see it happening.  He watched Kon whisper something in her ear, Marinette glanced at him for a second and Tim felt nervous.  The next thing he knew Marinette burst out laughing and Tim was blushing despite the fact that he had no idea what was said.  He glanced over at Kon to see if he could get a hint of whatever story he was telling but only got a sly smirk and sideways glances from a chuckling Cassie.  He didn’t know if he wanted to know what story they told her.  They had so many stories, most of which he didn’t even remember due to his sleep deprived state that it was frankly concerning.  For him at least, they seem to enjoy holding these stories over his head whenever they need something.
Slowly, Tim approached the group, his family, and hesitantly asked,
“What exactly did I miss?”
Kon shook his head and placed a finger to his lips, smug smirk still firmly in place.  Marinette’s eyes glittered with mirth as she followed suit and shook her head.
“Sorry Tim-Tam, can’t say.”
“And why not?”
He asked, crossing his arms and lifting a brow to look at all of his team members.  Bart zipped right next to him, causing a small breeze in the room before rushing out,
“It’s a secret story.  Maybe one day you’ll be able to find a way to unlock it in one of your side quests.”
Cassie snickered as Tim pouted.  He honestly hadn’t played one of his open world adventure games in a while.  He mostly played any version of UMS with Marinette and her their family. Tim sighed, dropping his hands to his side casually enough as Bart placed an arm around his shoulders.  He could tell that there was some sort of trap here, they were holding out on something but he couldn’t tell what yet.  The kitchen was clean (that was a first); Kon, Cass, and Cassie were all gathered near Mari; and there was nothing that could be considered suspicious on the counters.  There was just a bag of flour, one on his side of the counter and one in hers.
…….
Oh no.  Tim could tell that Marinette knew that he figured out what she planned to do.  So with almost inhuman speed she lord the bag and threw a handful of it at Tim.  He quickly closed his eyes as the dusted wheat hit him square in the face.  Quickly reaching for his own bag he began to throw flour at her, only missing and hitting Cassie instead.  The fight went on for a while, everyone getting involved until they were all white as ghosts.  Marinette and everyone else was laughing, he knew that this was her idea. Probably revenge for the last time he initiated this same kind of fight.  It was worth it though.  She was happy, she wasn’t worried about a thing, and hopefully she can accept his friends.  Let them be a part of their small found family.  Tim never liked standing on the sidelines before.  But just watching her, seeing her happy like this even if it wasn’t fully him that made her smile like that.  Maybe he could make an exception for his dislike, but only if he could see her like this more often.

"I wanted to say 'I love you' for the first time without stuttering but I guess that failed."
Timari please 💜
Marinette laughed. "Well, that sure went."
Tim laughed along with her. "It sure did!"
"I wanted to say 'I love you' for the first time without stuttering but I guess that failed." Marinette was blushing and Tim thought she was beautiful.
"That's okay, I think it's cute when you stutter." He pulled her into a hug. "I love you too."
"Really?" She pulled back to look him in the eyes.
"Really," he whispered in the space between them before closing the gap and kissing her softly.

The Perfect Blend
"It's coffee ice cream."
Adrien looked down at the cone in her hand. Three brown scoops. Chocolate chips embedded. "Huh, so it is."
"This is from Andre," Marinette emphasized. "It's coffee flavored. Why the fuck is my soulmate ice cream coffee flavored?!"
"Dunno. Maybe your soulmate's a caffeine junkie like you are."
They strolled on the Pont des Arts, leaving behind the long line of teenagers waiting to get their ice cream. Marinette ate her ice cream carefully. "I don't buy it. There's no one else who'd inject coffee into their veins like I do."
"Maybe you'll be surprised," said Adrien, taking a spoonful of his blueberry.
Marinette's foot caught a bump on the bridge. She flailed around, forgetting about her ice cream, and crashed into someone who was also in the process of stumbling forward. She felt a hot sticky liquid splatter on her front, while her ice cream collided with someone’s chest.
"I'm so sorry!" Both cried out, but in different languages.
Marinette looked up to see a boy whose tired eyes mirrored hers. His fitted shirt was soaked in both coffee and ice cream just like her blouse.
Adrien hummed in amusement. "So there he is."
Marinette glared at him before turning back to the stranger. She switched to English. "I'm terribly sorry, monsieur, I'm so careless."
"Me too," the stranger blurted out. "Your---your shirt---"
He hastily fished out a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to her.
"Ah, no, no, I stained your shirt as well. Please use it," Marinette declined, getting some tissues from her bag.
"No, I insist." The boy smiled sheepishly.
She bit the edge of her lip. "Take these napkins at least. Oh! And let me buy you a new coffee."
They tried their best to clean themselves up, but the stains were persistent. Marinette frowned when she saw that the ice cream drips had also come down to his pants.
"My house is nearby. I have extra clothes in there just about your size," she suggested. "We own a bakery on the first floor. Would you like to wait there? Only if you're not busy! I'd hate to disrupt your day."
The stranger beamed. "A---A change of clothes would be nice. Don't worry, I was just planning to walk around the city today."
She nodded and began leading him down the path. Adrien sidled up to her. "You got a boy to come home with you so quickly!"
She shoved him playfully, scowling.
Marinette coughed, looking up at the boy she had bumped into. "I'm Marinette, by the way. This is Adrien. I'm guessing you're vacationing in Paris?"
"Call me Tim. And yeah, I'm here mostly for business though."
"Ask him if he's single!" Adrien whispered into her ear.
She shoved him again.
"I am, actually." Tim's eyebrows raised.
Red took over Marinette's cheeks. "Wait a minute---"
"On another completely unrelated topic." Adrien smirked. "Are you, by any chance, addicted to coffee?"
"What qualifies as 'addicted'? I usually finish five cups a day but I think that's pretty normal."
Adrien gasped, eyes glittering at Marinette. Meanwhile, Marinette was shooting silent threats at him. "You're in luck!" Adrien wrapped an arm around her shoulders and patted her head. "This tiny girl can down six to seven cups a day!"
"I'm not tiny!"
"You are miniature."
"You're cute."
Tim's eyes widened at his accidental compliment. He averted his eyes nervously as Marinette's face turned hotter.
"I---I mean," Tim coughed. "I mean---uh--"
"Yo---you don't look too bad yourself," Marinette said in a small voice, playing with the hem of her blouse.
Adrien whispered in her ear again, less subtly this time. "Now ask him out."
Tim perked up. "I'm free tonight!"
"What---what a coincidence!" She squeaked out. "Me---me too!"
"Can I pick you up at seven?"
She smiled widely. "I'd love that."

Remember When- Marinette is in Gotham with few memories of her time in Paris after becoming Ladybug. She attempted to protect the miracle box from Hawkmoth with a trick guardian transfer but still suffered amnesia. She mets Red Robin and because Rouge Gorge for her hero persona but convincing all of the bat family is proving difficult.

………………………………….
Walking through the park was meant to be a short cut. A quicker route to stop her being late. It was meant to be less crowded. So why were there so many people milling around? It felt unnatural. Like something was underfoot. Marinette couldn't put her finger on it all. Star City did have villains and deadly events occurring but it wasn't like Bludhaven or Gotham known for their high crime rates, nor was it Paris with people having a bad day. The whole atmosphere seemed to be charged but whether it was good or bad was hard to decipher.
To her left by the pond… lake she saw a couple walking past deep in conversation. It felt to her that the whole park was watching the pair.
Suddenly the man drops to one knee and the whole park erupts. There was music playing from somewhere, blasting over the area. The people 'innocently' meandering around were all swiftly in formation and dancing.
Baguettes!!!
She was trapped in the middle of a flash dance mob thingy!!!
Someone grabbed her hand and started swinging her around in some dance pattern she had no clue how to follow. Every time she tried to grab her 'partners' attention she was ignored and spun in a circle. She was getting dizzy.
Abruptly the tune and beat changes and Marinette manages to make her escape… by crashing into yet another man, sending the pair crashing down.
"I'm so so sorry! I didn't mean to knock you over. Please, just let me escape, I'm sorry, I'm not part of this… errr… event."
"Same, I was trying to escape too."
Marinette shifted so she stopped pinning the muscular man down and darted her eyes around, seeing a perfect escape route, she grabbed the man's hand and tugs. It's only then she realised that a) his is a LOT bigger than her, his arms were huge causing her eyes to widen as she took in the muscles and raw strength and b) her tug did nothing. He hardly moved even if she pulled with all her might. Causing her c) to actually take in the hulking man and see his flaming hair, shimmering emerald eyes and devilish smirking grin.
"Oh, errr, ummm, I think I can see an escape route if umm, if we move quickly."
She turned to keep an eye on her escape path, hoping the man missed her blush and would either join her in the escape or let go of her hand which seemed dwarfed by his. The dancers seemed to have shifted yet again closing that route off but had opened another. Marinette glanced back at the man who surprisingly gracefully for his size had shifted off the ground and crouched next to her.
"What's the signal?"
Darting her eyes around, Marinette just pulled, "Now!"
The pair swiftly sprinted through the gap. They scurried through the crowds before ending up hiding behind a hedge as yet another dance routine started up.
"This has to be the most over the top proposal ever! Is it bad that I want her to say no?"
The deep timber of the man's whisper startled Marinette from her planning the next escape dash. She turned and blinked up at him in surprise.
"No… it does seem… dramatic. It's not definitely not what I'd want. But…"
Marinette's thoughts drifted back to conversations she'd had with Adrien and Nino and mused that this dramatic declaration was definitely on par Adrien's idea she and Nino had talked him down for Kagami's sake.
"... Some people love it. Showing their love and admiration in a grand style for the world to see and agree that their partner is worthy of worship."
She shudders at the extravagant stuff she herself had been on the receiving end of due to akuma and well… life, especially in her red suit.
"Sounds awful if you ask me."
Marinette's mouth twitched with amusement at his statement.
"Agreed. So, you ready for our next step in our escape?"
"Yup, the sooner we're out of this nonsense, the sooner I can ask for your number and maybe a coffee date?"
"What?!"
Marinette's brain halted, her escape plan momentarily paused and out of focus as she looked at the emerald eyes man. He shook their still joined hands tilting his head in amusement as he shuffled his eyebrows suggestively. Heat flooded her cheeks further as she realised she'd not let go of his hand yet.
"You're number and a coffee date sweetheart. I'm Roy by the way."
"Oh… err…ummm… M.. M-Marinette."
Her nervous stutter reappeared at the most annoying moments, Marinette moaned. Marinette ducked her head and brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear to avoid his intense gaze. The sight of her watch caused a gasp to escape her mouth as she saw the time.
"Oh baguettes!!"
The man, Roy's, energy shifted at her exclamation.
"I'm late! Like really late now!! Ummm… I'm meant to be meeting a friend at a cafe nearby… in that direction."
She pointed to the opposite side of the park which was filled with the flash mob.
"Let's get you there then. I'll just have to be your handsome escort."
"Huh?!"
Roy moved again, this time guiding Marinette through the crowds, twirling her occasionally so the could blend in with the crowds as they sneaked past dancers causing giggles to escape her mouth in surprise. Working together, they had managed to navigate their way to the edge of the flash mob and towards the park's exit Marinette required quicker than expected. Both grinning as though unwanted to be part of the dance troupe, finding a partner to conspire with was fun.
"So Marinette, which cafe are you heading to?"
Roy shifted Marinette's hand he still held onto to the crook of his elbow as they started to walk out the park. He looked down at her with a dreamy smile that set her heart fluttering as she bit her lip with nerves. It wasn't fair that he was so attractive and being nice. Why did green eyed males do this too her??
"You really don't need to take me all the way Roy. Just getting out of the park was fine."
Cheering could be heard in the distance as Roy rolled his eyes at her, though not relinquishing his loose hold of her hand on his arm. If she really wanted she could easily escape.
"Course I do sweetheart. Can't have you getting swept away by another flash mob without me."
He winked at her causing Marinette to blush again especially when he tensed his arm muscles showing them off.
"Terra Coffee I think… or that's what my friend said to meet."
"I know the place. Come on, let's get you there. I'll even buy you your drink, gorgeous."
"You buy me a drink? Shouldn't I buy you one since you're making all this effort to make sure I get there AND it was me who knocked into you?"
"You saved me from the horror of dancing in a mob."
"We did dance though."
"We did." He smirked further, "and I think we make a decent couple. We could get to know each other more so we can do it again."
Marinette laughed at his blunt upfront-ness. She had to admit he was fun to dance with and escape the park with. He definitely wasn't hard on the eyes either. Shaking her head with a fondness she wasn't expecting this morning she looked up at him.
"Fine. Hopefully Juleka won't mind company. At least she can vet you before you get in too deep."
Roy beamed and fist pumped the air setting the pair into further giggles.
"You won't regret it!"
"I might not but you may."
Marinette laughed further at his surprised face before they settled into a comfy conversation as Roy led her to the cafe.
