Reflections on Ep. 8 of LBFAD on rewatch
Tumblr media
Arbiter Hall, Day 11: “Da Qiang!” Xiao Lanhua (XLH) called happily on returning to Arbiter of Fate Hall. She excitedly tells him how Changheng (CH) had praised her, refused to cancel her exam result and asked her to keep the Magical Jade Firefly stone. What a coincidence that the firefly came to Arbiter Hall – is this a sign that she and CH are meant to be together? :D
DongFang QingCang (DFQC) scowls in suspicion, slams his teacup onto the table and storms off to study the Xilan scroll for clues to what this new feeling is (it’s jealousy!). It’s the first time he has noticed his internal state not matching XLH’s feelings, but still believes his Tree of Emotions is permanently frozen. Alas, we saw in ep. 7 that his Tree had thawed, and later in this episode, it sprouts two new leaves, for romantic love and desire – feelings he had never experienced even prior to having his emotions removed. (Desire is not one of the listed seven emotions, but is associated with romantic love). He is now much more caring and sincere in all of his interactions with XLH.
Shangque (SQ) believes that since XLH is so happy, she should be able to fix Lady Chidi’s destiny leaf soon! Don’t be ridiculous SQ, DFQC says, she is not fully recovered yet, what’s the rush? He is in no hurry at all to end his blissful days by XLH’s side. :D
Enjoy this stage while you can DFQC! Once he returns to Cangyan Sea, having his emotions return to him in full force will be an inconceivably traumatic experience D: He had been a ruthless killing machine for centuries against his true sweet and caring nature, then suddenly had his compassion returned and had to deal with what he had done and his ongoing mission for revenge. Many have gone insane for far less. DFQC cannot be blamed at all for being “full of thorns” at that stage, as he describes himself in ep. 35 :(
Fountain Palace: Yulin, also plagued by jealousy, had stolen XLH’s Firefly stone and her crime is discovered by Danyin. Taken to Yunzhong’s (YZ) court, she refuses to admit the theft and clings to a far more dangerous story that CH had gifted it to her. But that would mean that CH had betrayed his engagement to the Goddess, so she is sentenced to the most terrible punishment an immortal could be subjected to - removal of her immortal bones. Far worse than an execution, it means she will not ever be able to reincarnate again. This is a chilling warning to CH to never dishonour his engagement, or else…
A tortured CH imagines what would happen if XLH came to work at Fountain Palace, as is her right and her long-standing dream. He doubts he could stop himself from seeking her out every day, speaking tender words to her, betraying his heart…YZ had spies everywhere – she would inevitably end up with her immortal bones removed too! D: He could never forgive himself for putting her in danger, and so, eliminates only XLH’s name from the list of new staff at Fountain Palace. And after he’d gone to so much effort to find and catch the firefly for her and deliver it to Arbiter Hall! He gazes at the orchid flower XLH had given him (soon it will be DFQC’s turn to do this in ep. 19 :D ).
Yujing, Day 12: To her disbelief, XLH is told by Lady Sansheng that CH did not accept her to Fountain Palace. An invisible CH watches as against all her expectations, her one and only dream is shattered to pieces.
Tumblr media
Arbiter Hall: XLH discovers that the Firefly stone is also gone, replaced by an ordinary rock. She looks dazedly to DFQC for answers and he caringly complies with her query by carrying her up to Yunzhong Water Pavillion (their usual sunbathing spot!). What impeccable timing, as YZ is just now grilling CH on why he eliminated the remarkable fairy who used herself as bait to save everyone, from the Fountain Palace list. Didn’t CH praise her and say that she was “brave, intelligent, pure and kind?” (How does YZ know this? CH was right that he has spies on him everywhere!) CH uses the same arguments that XLH had presented to him when she tried to cancel her exam result! Her immortal roots are damaged, she is weak, she came from the mortal realm and doesn’t deserve the honour. YZ’s secret smile and headshake make it clear that he has seen through CH’s story. Nevertheless, YZ is pleased that CH has let go of his secret crush and is honouring his engagement.
Back at Arbiter Hall, XLH nurses her broken dreams and heartbreak at CH’s cruel words but tries to be strong. With her weak power, she should be happy that she passed the examination at all, so she says she will ask Peach to perform the celebration of scattering flowers. (DFQC takes careful note of this, and creates a scattering of peach blossom petals for her banquet in ep. 13! :D ) Sacrificing his own comfort for XLH’s well-being, DFQC tells her to cry and release her pain. “CH is blind” he says, his fury at the God of War ever increasing as he feels XLH’s grief and tears stream down his own face due to the Xilan curse. “Do you look down on me Da Qiang?” she asks anxiously. “To benzuo, you are as precious as my life” he replies, his voice husky with emotion and sincerity! In ep. 7, he resentfully said “Your life is as important to me as my own life”. This time, there is no resentment, and it is she herself, not just her life, that is precious to him. Not because of the one-heart curse, but because he genuinely cares for her!
DFQC roughly brushes a tear from XLH’s cheek and we see that the greenhouse flowers are in bloom! They are linked to XLH’s mood, so despite CH smashing her dreams, DFQC’s efforts to comfort her have had a far greater impact, and she is now happy.
But their tender exchange is interrupted by CH, who has arrived with ten soldiers to search Arbiter Hall for criminals. DFQC’s hatred for CH, who had hurt his Xiao Hua Yao leads to him preparing to attack rather than concealing himself with invisibility. XLH is alarmed! What is Da Qiang doing?! He can’t stand against the God of War and ten Heavenly soldiers! Although both of the men she cares about are there, her only thought is of saving DFQC. She protectively wraps her arms around him and topples them over the edge of Arbiter Hall. Our white-clad fairy and black-clad devil clasped tightly in her embrace fall a great distance into the Oblivion River (such a beautiful scene!).
Tumblr media
And, they are both enjoying this close contact very much, as DFQC’s eyes close in pleasure, and XLH continues to hold him for quite a long time after they are in the water. When she finally realises she doesn’t need to and lets go, he is sad, again feeling like an unlovable beast that everyone avoids. Unfortunately, CH’s search of Arbiter Hall is quite long and thorough. XLH’s magic exhausted, the air bubble she had created around them bursts and she is drowning. Her demise would also mean the demise of DFQC, and he has several options available to him to save her. Should he recreate the large air bubble around them? Teleport them out of the water and conceal them with invisibility? Or fly them somewhere else entirely?
Another idea makes him hesitate, but in the end, he can’t resist the urge to claim her lips to provide her with life-saving air. XLH opens her eyes to find Da Qiang’s mouth fastened to hers and his hooded gaze upon her. Her heart races, and her first thought is of how wonderful it feels. She had wondered what it would feel like to kiss Da Qiang again, now that he had claimed her heart. His lips are soft and warm against hers, and his breath cools her burning lungs.
Tumblr media
But as she remembers that CH is searching for him and kissing him is a bad idea, she pulls away, to his annoyance. Did she forget that she was drowning?! XLH realises she has no choice and gives in. It might be their last chance to express their feelings and release the tension between them. She continues to kiss DFQC as he breathes air into her lungs for many heated minutes until he is absolutely sure that CH is gone! :D This is a nice parallel to their first kiss in ep. 1, which DFQC had instigated to draw life-giving energy from her. This time, he is the one providing life to her through their kiss. It is also, in an unorthodox way, their first romantic kiss.
They are hyperaware of each other afterwards and XLH decides to go to Shuyu Forest to get some air and recover her dazed senses. As a similarly dazed DFQC touches his lips in wonder with trembling fingers, two new leaves sprout on his Tree of Emotions for romantic love and desire.
DFQC sits having tea and pondering why didn’t he just kill CH after all? He didn’t have to go along with XLH’s crazy plan. It would have been in the interests of the Moon Tribe to eliminate the God of War while he was separated from the rest of the Heavenly High Council and leave no witnesses. Unknowingly, this is the first of many times that DFQC has put his feelings for XLH higher in his priorities than his perceived responsibility towards the Moon Tribe.
But he is soon distracted by the Tianji mirror revealing to him a vision of XLH’s wedding to CH by the Oblivion River. He does not see the mortal realm wedding, as only the Oblivion River wedding requires his intervention. As Siming says in ep. 32, those who see a prophecy can bring it about (how ironic, as the last thing DFQC would want is to bring about XLH’s wedding to CH). This new crushing sensation in his chest is far worse than any other feeling he has ever felt.
Shuyu Forest: How XLH feels about her very prolonged make-out session with DFQC is clear from the way she is giggling and skipping through the forest while twirling her skirts. :D But Danyin bursts her bubble by informing her that a member of the Moon Tribe who escaped from Haotian Tower is still on the loose. XLH finally puts two and two together. Da Qiang’s surname is Dongfang…a surname known to belong to the Moon Tribe, and the missing prisoner is Moon Tribe. This is good…he can return to his people and escape from Shuiyuntian.
Tumblr media
Arbiter Hall: DFQC is suspicious of the wine XLH offers him for the wrong reasons - Siming has some of the best wine in the three realms, wouldn’t she be angry that they were using it up? But he drinks it. Inconceivable! The mightiest being in the three realms is weak to sedatives?! Lucky that XLH has magic to help her move the Moon Supreme’s tall and sturdy body all the way down to the Oblivion River (I wonder where she got the boat from).
Oblivion River: As DFQC wakes from his stupor in a boat on the Oblivion River, XLH asks him to return to his people at Cangyan Sea and never return to Shuiyuntian, where he will be in danger. She doesn’t care about the risk to her own life for helping him. As she softly says “I’ll miss you”, through the one-heart curse he feels her overwhelming sadness and affection for him. He is very touched by her loyalty to him. She flies away, leaving him to eat her flower cakes thoughtfully.

Hello! :D Don't know if you're accepting prompts and sorry if you just reblogged the list but... Hug prompts, “you’re not okay, you’re shaking." for Ixchel and Solas? :3
Hello I can't sleep and I can't bear to thesis any longer tonight and I *miss them* so: a prompt fill. Perhaps set on the way to Serault? We'll see if it fits.
-:-:-
At last, Ixchel found a moment to slip away from the rest of the party, and she went in search of Solas. The ruined villa was sun-soaked and warm, and the Veil did not feel particularly thin, so she did not suspect any harm or serious mischief had befallen him. It was odd, though, that something had drawn him into seclusion when it might have otherwise been opportunity to impart ancient truths to an attentive Dalish audience.
She found him in the shade of a half-collapsed pavilion, kneeling at the paws of a large statue. She would have called the wolf a Knight's Guardian if she did not know that this place predated the Emerald Knights by aeons. Stranger still was how out of place Solas seemed beside it. Despite their shared origins, she had grown accustomed to seeing Solas as a fixture of the modern times, rather than the stoic relic of a bygone time. He seemed... diminished, seated here before the truly ancient statue. Smaller, and separate.
Ixchel was a little surprised at how sad she was upon realizing that.
Solas startled a little when she approached, her armor clanking with every step.
"Ah, 'ma'lath, have I taken too long?" he wondered with a dry laugh. "I apologize for dawdling."
Ixchel stopped him from standing with a gesture, and instead she joined him in the sun-baked ground.
"Which part is it that has you in such deep contemplating?" she asked genuinely, but Solas looked away as though he had something to hide.
Ixchel studied the side of his face a moment with a small sinking feeling in her gut. She wanted to follow-up, to drag the truth out of him--painful as it was.
Instead, she did not even allow herself a sigh, for she did not wish to guilt him further. Silently she reached for his hand and covered it with one heavy gauntlet of her own. With a physical connection established, she was then willing to wait an eternity for whatever he might trust her with as an answer.
It seemed he might wait an eternity indeed before telling her what was on his mind. Somewhere behind the boughs of the vallasdahlen, the sky darkened and revealed the hidden stars. Ixchel watched the canopy above them, and the stone around them, and the dirt beneath them, while she waited.
At last, Solas sighed and turned his face back to her, though instead of meeting her eye he buried his nose into her hair.
She felt then what she had not, simply holding his hand: he was shaking.
"Vhenan," she said worriedly.
"I am fine," he replied into her hair.
"No," she reprimanded, "you're shaking. What's wrong?"
The breath he drew was thin, ragged, and it trembled pitifully.
"I know this place," he said. "I once presided here, taking audiences with the People to hear their pleas and to act as an arbiter of Mythal's Justice. It was not the only place I had done so. But I thought... I thought they had all been destroyed. The memory of my judgements, erased--perhaps rightfully so!" A barking laugh escaped him, and he flinched at it himself. "And yet this place has been preserved... occupied... honored... even after the creation of the Veil."
He raised a trembling hand and summoned a cascade of Veilfire sparks along the base of the wolf statue--revealing an inscription left by the ancient stewards of the villa:
"Gone are the false gods, who hunted the People for sport and sacrifice. Gone is Fen'Harel, He Who Hunts Alone. The People remain, and here we make what might be a home for him upon his return, no matter the ages that pass. Ar-melana dirthavaren. Revas vir-anaris."
"Amae lethalas," Ixchel finished aloud, and she felt something in the air change as her lips shaped the words.
Solas laughed again and squeezed her hand more tightly. "Yes," he said disbelievingly. "We are among friends here."

OC Kiss Week / Day Four / Charm
pairing: Nikolai Dragos/Yevgeniy “Geno” Kazimir - Ravnica D&D OCs
.
Nikolai, historically, had never been invited to many parties; but the moment he’d become the Arbiter of the Lyev Column—one of the three people on all of Ravnica to have Isperia’s ear, one of the most politically powerful Azorius on the planet—he’s suddenly a hot commodity. Every up-and-comer wants his name on their guest list for bragging rights; to try and bend his ear about proposing a policy to the Guildmaster; to attempt to question him on what the Azorius, or the other members of the Taskforce, are up to; to just say that they know him to someone they’re trying to impress.
Add to that the fact that he (and the rest of the Taskforce) had literally saved the multiverse, well… he can officially say that he’s never been more popular.
It’s something so completely alien to Nikolai. To be the center of attention, to have everyone in a place know his name. People wanting to shake his hand and have a conversation—with or without ulterior motives, because some of them actually want to meet him, which blows his fucking mind. He’s never fit into places like this (expensive food, drinks in fancy glasses, paid waitstaff; art and conversation pieces strung through room after room; halls so grandiose his footsteps echo), had barely felt at home in the market district that he grew up on—let alone something so ostentatious, so pretentious.
Geno, on the other hand, blends right in. Like he always fucking does.
Since the almost-end-of-the-world, since Nikolai and Geno had quietly been married aboard the Parhelion II when they weren’t sure if the Taskforce would even make it back from their final mission, the Arbiter of the Lyev Column had publicly married Jon Kuczera, unassuming low-level librarian with curly dark hair and mischievous green eyes. Only the Taskforce and a handful of others know the truth, and Geno has lived under so many different names that one more doesn’t bother him in the slightest.
When Nikolai begs him to come along to another function he’s been asked to so he won’t be alone in a crowd, Geno leaps at the opportunity. He hasn’t fully given up the Dimir life, but now he talks about gossip rather than informants, and that’s at least something.
On one hand, Nikolai thinks as one doorman takes their cloaks and another rushes to announce them, he’s glad of the company (commiseration, at least, if he has to be there at all).
On the other hand, he realizes with a scowl, everyone fucking loves Geno.
His husband’s time is monopolized at every single one of these miserable events because he’s fucking captivating. A natural speaker, charismatic, gorgeous; whip-smart and can read a room like it’s a cheap novel. More often than not, he’s the most charming man in the building.
Tonight, it seems, is no exception.
The big floor-to-ceiling windows are open on one end of the huge ballroom, gauzy drapes only useful as decoration fluttering in the balmy nighttime breeze of the city. A string quartet plays dully against the opposite wall, and some people spin in practiced circles near them. Throngs of people dot the hall, and Nikolai watches them schmooze and gossip as he stands on the landing above. He’s deep into his third sparkling drink, and he is an apparently notorious lightweight.
“Nik,” comes Geno’s voice from behind him, and Nikolai straightens and turns—
And finds his husband arm-in-arm with a young woman in Orzhov black-and-whites. The golden crest is blazing on her circlet, and she gazes appraisingly at him with a church-trained cryptic smirk.
“Lady Vantas,” Geno says as way of introduction (just so puffed up and happy to have met someone interesting), “this is my husband, Nikolai—”
“Dragos,” she finishes for him, holding out a delicate hand. “Arbiter of the Lyev Column, yes, I know. It’s so exciting to finally meet you, Tomik has told us all so much.”
Nikolai looks at her hand like it’s going to slap him, but before his lip can curl in disdain, he sees Geno narrowing his eyes at him. Nikolai curtails his beleaguered sigh and takes her hand—shaking instead of genuflecting, something permitted but not expected. Her smile doesn’t twitch.
“You must come meet my friends,” Lady Vantas coos. “They could hardly believe that such a high-ranking Azorius functionary would join us; we've never had an arbiter attend.”
“And the Azorius champion of the Guildpact,” Geno proudly lists more of his husband’s credentials. “Wrote the laws that helped form the eleventh guild, slayer of the Eternal Dragon—”
“Okay, okay,” Nikolai grumbles, trying not to stare daggers at the man he loves.
They descend the staircase and join the mulling rabble. Lady Vantas’s friends are more shitty bankers, Orzhov regalia gleaming; jewelry strung with more coins than most Precinct Six workers would see in a month just strewn across their bodies. Nikolai’s blood still boils when he sees that insignia, despite all the work he’d put in with Tomik to bridge the gap between their guilds. They all turn and fawn over him when he appears in his full Azorius dress uniform—he’s always a stickler for representing his guild, just as much as they are, he admits—handing him drinks and telling him what a doll his husband is.
And Geno is in his element again. In amongst the crowd of dilettantes, weaving the tale of the journey of the Parhelion II to distant planes in search of the vile Eternal Dragon that threatened to swallow the multiverse. Nikolai’s part in it, his expert weaving of law magic and communing with Azor himself. Nikolai flushes dark red under his freckles, hiding behind yet another drink.
Lady Vantas places a hand on Geno’s arm, his shoulder, sliding it to his back. Another Orzhov asshole smiles like a smitten teenager, listening to Geno talk. Everyone practically drinking in the air his husband is occupying. And Nikolai fumes. Breathes in through his nose and out though his mouth in measured moments, frown biting deep into his mouth.
“If you don’t mind,” Nikolai says out loud, suddenly, interrupting the flow of conversation. Geno halts mid-sentence, seeing Nikolai’s flushed face for the first time. “I need to speak with my husband privately for a moment.”
“Of course, Arbiter,” Lady Vantas says, and the others make a show of nodding and murmuring their apologies for monopolizing his time.
Nikolai takes Geno’s hand and leads him away from the group. Away from the party. Away from the ballroom, out into one of the many halls. The sound of music and conversation dies behind them, and Geno hasn’t said a word since they left the floor.
They finally reach a dimly-lit junction, art too large for the walls they’re hung on cluttering the space. The only sound is the far-off, muffled noise of the quartet.
“Nik,” Geno begins once they’ve come to a stop. “Listen, I’m sor—”
Nikolai grabs Geno by the front of his tunic. Shoves him hard up against the closest wall, rattling the frame of the nearest painting. Stronger than he looks, for his height. Brown eyes burning.
“Shut-up,” Nikolai says, and he mashes their faces together hastily. Takes a breath. “Just shut-up for fucking once.”
Geno doesn’t put up much of a fight. Grabs a fistful of Nikolai’s hair and pulls him back in for more. Hard kisses, half-drunken pawing, and the sound of their harsh breath muffled in the art-strewn hall. A vase jostles as Nikolai tugs at Geno’s hips, which the ex-thief dexterously keeps from tumbling while still keeping a firm hold on his husband.
Nikolai pries himself away, holding Geno against the wall now at arm’s length—catching his breath, red from the drink; from the heavy kissing.
“Wh—” Geno barely vocalizes, dazed by the attack; by the affection.
“She was all fucking over you,” Nikolai breathes. “That fucking… Orzhov… snob—”
Geno almost laughs. “Nik, I would never—”
“I know,” Nikolai reassures him. “I know, I know, but…” He can’t vocalize what he means. He’s not a possessive asshole (at least, he thinks he’s not). He knows that Geno knows he loves him. And he knows that Geno knows that. And… But…
“Do you need to be here for work?” Geno asks (tilting Nikolai’s head back up to look at him, firm and knowing).
“No,” Nikolai answers quickly.
“Then let’s get the fuck out of here and go home.”
They lose each other in another long kiss before they get moving. Grab their cloaks from the front doorman, ignoring Lady Vantas as they head out into the warm Ravnican evening.

Break the Day: Proper NaNo WIP intro
Tumblr media
I finally got around to writing a proper blurb for the first book in this series, and also it’s developed even further since my last one so I thought I’d compile a proper post about it. Still excited about this to dangerous levels.
I’ll update this post as things develop.
Genre: Fantasy, LGBTQ+
Status: Writing book 2
Short Summary:
This series is set in a medieval-ish fantasy world, partly inspired by slavic language/culture, about magic users called the az-ari/the priori, particularly two of them called Fennrin and Ainreth, who can control shadows and light respectively. They fall in love while trying to navigate a world of politics, war, the ramifications of individuals being given too much power, and also their own complicated feelings because they’re idiots.
Proper Blurb:
Fennrin is a shadowforger, a type of az-ari who have mastery over shadows. But all it's ever brought him is misery. People are afraid of the power that he himself barely understands, seeing his shadows as omens of bad luck and death.
Forced to barely scrape by since his parents disowned him, Fennrin's life takes a turn when he is approached by Ainreth, a lightweaver and famous general, asking him to come with him to the royal court to be trained and help him stave off an assassin who's made an attempt on Ain's life, somehow able to counteract his powers.
Even though Fennrin is suspicious of Ainreth's flirting and his arrogant attitude, Fennrin decides to go with him because his life can't get much worse.
Thrust into a world of politics and power, Fennrin quickly learns just why shadowforgers are so infamous and how strong he could become, while, much to his chagrin, starting to fall for Ainreth. However, unwelcome feelings are only the start of his problems as the neighboring, tyrannical monarchy is preparing for war. And if Fennrin wants to survive, he will have to fight it.
Map and Geography:
Tumblr media
There’s two countries in the story (though I’m sure I’ll add more to mention on the side later). Orinovo - the somewhat slavic country on the left, and Lys-Akkaria on the right. Lys-Akkaria used to be part of Orinovo, but freed itself over a century ago. Now that Orinovo has a new monarch, a new war has started to try to regain Lys-Akkaria back.
Orinovo is a monarchist dictatorship where az-ari are hated, while Lys-Akkaria celebrates them, and is ruled by 4 elected leaders: the Bulwark of the Royal Guard, who manages the army, the Patron of Treasury, who deals with taxes and money in general, the Arbiter of Law, who deals with law, unsurprisingly, and the High Herald, the guy who keeps an eye on the other 3 to make sure everything runs smoothly.
And here’s some flags for the two nations. Lys-Akkaria’s the first one because they’re cooler of course:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Magic System:
The az-ari can control various aspects of nature, but they’re all limited to their specific talent. What exactly they can do is still up for changing, but so far the types of az-ari are lightweaver (controls light, especially sunlight), shadowforger (controls shadows), sproutkeeper (can either control plants or mushrooms, there’s two types), flamewielder (controls fire), ironspinners (control iron, so far not officially added, may be deleted at any point :D), and so far unnamed ability to take the powers of others.
To be able to use their powers, the az-ari have to be able to move their fingers, which is why special finger clamps exist to restrain them if necessary.
The powers are inherited from ancestors, but it’s not super likely for someone to receive them, and the longer a family line goes without them the less likely it is for someone to have powers. Shadowforgers and lightweavers are incredibly rare because their powers are tied to only one family line each.
I would list characters here but I compiled a character introduction post here for anyone interested.

Hello!! I'm new to for writing but I must say is lovely :D I personally enjoyed your last fanfic with one of my favorite characters: Arbiter and Master Chief, many thanks for that super cute story.
I wanted to read more from you, and I searched tru your carrd website and there are other fics written by you of HALO, but I can't seem to find them, particulary "Jenga from the perspective of an alien" and "Soul of the Arbiter"... may I ask were can I check them?
Many thanks, and again you are an awesome writer ♥ I'm your new follower!!
I can give you direct links:
At the top of the Fic Carrd, there's some links. The first AO3 symbol is the link to my main pseud. From there you'd probably just want to filter the Halo fandom specifically, I think clicking the fandom tag on the list shows just my works rather than the whole fandom on AO3.

There are people on this site who have a really confused picture of how accountability and justice should work.
I saw two people (A&B) say that a third person (C) should be ostracized from the queer community because C followed an apparently shitty person (D) four years ago.
Person C saw the comments from A&B and basically responded "that was four years ago. I never really knew for sure if what people said about D was true, evidence was shaky, but we weren't in anyway close, so I just unfollowed D and moved on with my life."
Person A&B doubled down and said that Person C should definitely now be ostracized, because she refused to apologize for the harm she caused by following Person D. Note: they never accused Person C of being involved, beyond following this person. And A & B don't even allege that they were personally harmed by D-- just that D was shitty and transphobic in generally.
I'm really sorry, but people do not owe you, a bystander, an apology. "Well, it wouldn't be an apology to _me_ it would be an apology to the queer community." Firstly, that's just very transparent to the rest of us based on how unreasonable you are being in a matter that doesn't really involve you, except in a kind of three-steps-removed way.
Secondly, the people who owe apologies are the people who caused the harm, not people who happened to be standing there when the harm happened. Harm which, if it applied to the whole community, would also have harmed the person you are now trying to ostracize?
Thirdly, who made you the fucking grand arbiter of which queer people owe "the community" an apology? Had I been in that Queer Committee meeting, I would have pointed out that there are all sorts of relationships implied by following a social media accounts, but most of them are very very fucking tenuous. It's easy to follow someone on this site and never see any shitty post they made. Maybe you didn't scroll that far. Maybe you just didn't read that carefully. Who knows? Maybe, _maybe_ the only thing we can really ask is that people not re-blog the shittiness, and unfollow shitty people when they become aware maybe. Which the person in question did. Maybe asking people in our community to participate in some sort of ritual public shaming and abasement because you, yes you, are personally offended by their following list is the kind of faux accountability that does more harm to our community than good? It doesn't heal or make anyone whole.

The Benny Board
Tumblr media
Savage Worlds Setting Rule: Benny Board Translation for D&D: Bennies = Inspiration
The Bennie Board is a list of bounties the players can complete once per session to earn a Benny. Items on the Benny Board can change between session or be mostly the same.
Letting your players put bounties on the board is a good way to engage them. You can also use the bounties to incentivize mechanics you feel are being underused or to encourage roleplay moments.
Here are some bounties for Savage Worlds specifically:
Support an attack
Test With a non-Combat Skill
Triple Action
Push an enemy
Here are some roleplay-based bounties not linked to any system:
Fall in love
Waste money
Tell a story
Share a secret
Background In Savage Worlds the game runs best when the meta-currency named Bennies flow freely, in other systems like D&D this is sometimes called inspiration. These are usually rewarded for great RP, daring play or just being a nice player.
Remembering to hand out Bennies can be hard, though! Often I only remember my players need them when they're all out and in trouble. And if I start giving them out then, then my players complain I'm taking it easy on them, but the Benny Board is a neutral arbiter the players can engage with on their own terms.
Practical A good starting number of bounties is at least one per player, but you can easily go up to twice that much. Beyond that it can become hard to keep track.
The Benny board can be a literal board, a sheet on the player-side of the GM-screen, a simple printed list or just quickly announced at the start of each session. You could also leave them as implied knowledge and just keep them mostly the same through each session.

Hi. I made this subclass for D&D 5e in the past. I am not as interested in tweaking it as I was back then. If you want you can use it in your games.
Cleric: Luck Domain
Deities associated with the Luck domain preside over probability. Every coin flip, every die roll, every leap of faith happens under their guidance. They look over every distinct possibility, their followers the arbiter by which they choose for which one comes to be. Clerics of luck both foster and wrestle with risk, preferring to leave their lives up to the very chance they manipulate.
Spell List
Guiding Bolt, Bless (1st level)
Fortune’s Favor, Enhance Ability (3rd level)
Bestow Curse, Lightning Bolt (5th level)
Death Ward, Divination (7th level)
Bigby’s Hand, Control Winds (9th level)
Bonus Proficiency
When you choose this domain at 1st level, you gain proficiency with all gaming sets.
Beginner’s Luck
At first level, you have advantage on your first d20 roll after rolling initiative. You regain the use of this feature after a short rest.
Channel Divinity: Double Down
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to augment your attacks by courting risk.
Whenever you hit with an attack roll, but before you roll for damage, you could choose to reroll your attack roll, keeping advantage or disadvantage, to add an additional d8 radiant damage to your attack’s damage. You can reroll the attack a number of times equal to half your cleric level rounded up.
Shot In The Dark
Starting at 6th level, when you roll an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw with disadvantage, you can choose to roll it with advantage instead. You regain the use of this feature after a short or long rest.
Outside Help
Starting at 8th level, your raw magic becomes a font of luck. Before a creature within 60ft. makes an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can spend your reaction to expend a spell slot to add to the roll equal to the spell slot’s level.
Calculated Risk
At 17th level, after rolling an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw with advantage, you could choose to roll another d20 after you roll, but before the outcome is determined. You may then choose between the previous die and additional die to be used for the attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. You also gain one of the following effects based on the result of the additional die rolled:
On a 1, you take 3d8 radiant damage ignoring resistances or immunities.
On a 9-10, you take 1d8 radiant damage ignoring resistances or immunities.
On an 11-19, you gain 1d8 temporary hit points.
On a 20, you gain 3d8 temporary hit points.

Omg the absolute outcry about protecting D and M ' s privacy is absolutely hilarious.. someone posted by mistake??!!! Mistake??!! They really think anything with that couple is a Mistake?? How about mistakenly revealing what a farce this is .. I'm sorry I just can't! Mistake! poor poor things having their privacy invaded like that after documenting literally evryone minute of the greatest party ever on sm...
Its both hilarious and borderline insane. Apparently there are lists of things you are allowed to comment on and things that are 100% off the table and only a selected few know which is which. The rest of us are just out here in the dark. When I signed up for D's fandom over a decade ago, I don't recall seeing fine print anywhere stating that as part of his fandom, I will have to defend his lovely lady of many moons and his relationship of special togetherness at all times as well as dictating what should be kept private and off the internet while shaming those who do not comply. If commenting on the crazy schedule that D sometimes keeps and wondering when he sleeps is off limits because he's a grown man who knows what he's doing and if by his own words, his wife is a "big girl who can take care of herself," then I'm confused as to why they need The Defenders of the Faith™ to monitor the web for any potential infractions on their lives. And if this relationship is so solid and you're so secure that they have the truest love to ever exist, then it shouldn't matter what other people post. Apparently staying in your lane only applies to others. All of this nonsense could have been avoided if he'd made some kind of statement at the beginning of the party saying that "this was a private event and we'd like to keep it that way so feel free to take pics but please don't post them to your SM accounts." Done and done. If the people there were truly friends of theirs, they would comply. And it would of course have to come from him, because there is absolutely no way she'd give up being the center of attention at a party thrown for her (let's be honest) where everyone could fawn and coo and ask after her and tell her how beautiful she is and how wondrous it is to be in her presence if only for a few seconds. The baby comes in second and D, as usual, is an afterthought who's only there so he can be tagged in the pics and her shining light can reach more people than it would without him. Much like the ban on pics from their great party until the vogue cover story dropped, its all done - like their relationship - for maximum exposure and very little sentiment.
Its funny how the requests for privacy never actually come from the couple involved, but instead randoms on the internet who have designated themselves as the arbiters of what's appropriate while buying their heads in the sand over the origin of the pics they are whining about. Pap pics arranged by her or his team - no matter how much you want to believe they are candids, please - no one is following her around - should never be shared as they are such a violation of her well known desire for privacy and a quiet life out of the spotlight. And D knows this, of course, and as the ever loving and supportive spouse, makes sure to point that out but the press just can't resist her luminous star power and must - MUST - get pics of her making mundane every day tasks look like the coolest thing ever.
AW's been playing the pr game long enough by now to know how its done, so I doubt that was an accident as well. Its all done to drum up interest in them as a couple and reinforce his straight happily married to a woman image they've worked so hard at and yet still failed to make believable. Perhaps also a good idea? Not having a whole bunch of pink shit around at a baby shower if you don't want things to be leaked and the guess list includes her thirsty af friend group. Or - and hear me out on this - don't tell people if you don't want to chance the news getting out. You are not obligated to share every waking moment of your life online. Please don't; I feel like I see enough of her as it is.
The only mistake here was D leaving his career in the hands of a breathtakingly awful and incompetent gaggle of morons.

Name Meaning Tag Game
This tag game was shamelessly stolen from olibavee. I'm going to grab a few OCs from across a range of universes.
Rules: Search and post the meaning of your OCs’ names (if you made their name up or they go by a nickname, post an explanation of how it came to you)! Bonus if you can find something for their last name too
Alexis Dalliance (FF/Titan)
"Alexis" is from the Greek name Ἄλεξις (Alexis), meaning "helper" or "defender". Apparently, this can also mean "defender of man".
"Dalliance" has no meaning as a surname, but I like to think 'Lex's mother took it for herself to show the twicelings she was an adventurer.
Asuka Rackell (The MOW Files)
"Asuka" is from the Japanese 明日 (asu) meaning "tomorrow" and 香 (ka) meaning "fragrance", or from 飛 (asu) meaning "to fly" and 鳥 (ka) meaning "bird". I prefer the latter meaning for this character.
"Rackell" has no meaning as a surname. Sadly, how I came up with this surname has been lost to time.
Elowyn O’Toreguarde (FF/Titan)
“Elowyn” or “Elowin” means “Elm” in Cornish. In French folklore, the elm is the judge or arbiter of the woods, which suits Elo’s personality.
"O’Toreguarde" is just "Of Toreguarde", aka the city she lives in, as she lost her surname when her first home was destroyed.
Farren Breakwood (FF/Titan)
"Farren" was something I made up by tacking an F on "Darren", but the internet variously thinks it means "Iron-grey colour", a diminutive form of Ferdinand ("journey ready"), "adventurous", "the land", "pilferer or ferret", or "handsome servant". For this character, "handsome ferret" works best :D
"Breakwood" has no meaning, but perhaps his distant ancestors were lumberjacks...
Gurn Tepper (The MOW Files)
"Gurn" does not exist as a name, and I do not recall how I came up with it -.-' Wikipedia suggests that to gurn is "to snarl as a dog; to look savage; to distort the countenance", so that's now what it means.
"Tepper" apparently means to be a "tavern owner", or a "wine or beer merchant".
Kathryn Scott (The Cryptid Series)
"Kathryn" (and its variant spellings) has a huge list of potential meanings. I like "each of the two" for this character.
"Scott" is quite simply "a person from Scotland"
Kellandra Rhiannon Lorinda Rue (TES: Oblivion)
"Kellandra" does not exist as a real name, though variant spellings on the internet give the meaning as "a light" or "peace-loving". This was created waaay back in my school days when I realised I needed "K'Rin" (the MC in Tusomov) to be a diminutive for something.
"Rhiannon", is apparently from the Celtic *Rīgantonā, meaning "great queen". In the original story, it was spelt Rinonn, which may have been my corruption of "Rhiannon", based on the Fleetwood Mac song.
"Lorinda" is a variant of "Laura", meaning "laurel".
"Rue" is apparently from a French word, "ruelle", meaning "lane or alley".
Sophie Aderyn Griffiths (nee Williams) (TES: Oblivion)
"Sophie" is a variant spelling, and apparently means "wisdom".
"Aderyn" is literally translated from Welsh as "bird".
"Griffiths" means "son of Gruffudd" (and "Gruffudd" means "strong prince" which I had no idea about and is hilarious in the context of the character)
"Williams" apparently means "son of William" (and "William" means "will helmet")
This was a fun exercise. Some of these names were chosen for the meanings, others because they fit the shape of the character - so the meanings of those have been a surprise!
