Haunted Not So Haunted
This is a gift for @marsupials-of-mars for @sanderssidesgiftxchange 2022! Hopefully you enjoy it!
Synopsis; Remus takes his boyfriends, Logan and Janus, to a haunted house. Little do they know that it’s actually real, not a fake one
Trigger Warnings; (Previous) Major Character Death, Gore, Horror elements, some nsfw/gross jokes/comments from Remus, if I need to add more please ask!
“Remus, what are we doing here?” Logan asks as they stand in line.
“We’re going ghost hunting!” Remus rocks on his heels with a grin. “They say that someone actually passed away here. All nice and gorey too! It was a big old thing in the news a long time ago.”
Logan shakes his head fondly at Remus' antics, “so, we are at a fake haunted house to possibly see a ghost?” “Yep!” He keeps the grin as he wraps an arm around but Janus and Logan. “Come on! It’ll be fun! Besides you can rant about how things aren’t real after all ya want.” They both look at Remus skeptically. “I mean it! You can both rant about it after.” Remus pouts at their skeptical looks. “Fine, fine. We will do that, after the attraction is over. And next time I pick our date spot,” Janus compromises. “Fine by me!” He perks up again with his grin, quickly pecking Janus, but not letting go of either lover as they step closer to the door.
~~~~~~~
Honestly Remus’ thoughts were worse than this haunted house, if Janus was asked about it. He barely flinches at the cardboard cutouts or actors jumping out from behind cheaply made props. However, he couldn’t particularly blame them for going the cheap route, it seemed to scare quite a few others ahead anyway. He could tell though that Remus was a little disappointed at the haunted house itself. Poor thing, he’d reassure him later.
Janus glances over at Logan, who seems more interested in taking notes of all of the inaccuracies in the haunts than anything. He freezes in place at the apparition behind the unsuspecting Logan. It vanishes just as quickly as it appears, causing Janus to shake his head, just a projector. That was all it had to be, but why was he so chilled? Why did he have that shiver down his spine? “Everything alright, Janus?” Logan questions his lover.
“Yeah, ya look like you just saw an actual ghost,” Remus is equal parts concerned and amused.. “It’s nothing,” Janus lies easily.
His lovers look between each other like they want to call his bluff but choose not to. Remus shrugs before leading them to the next room.
The room itself isn’t very interesting. It is a small dining room that is dressed up as a cannibal’s meal with some laughing and screaming from the kitchen. It isn’t anything particularly scary but again Janus freezes. He hears the angered whispers telling him to get out. He looks over to the corner he hears it from, but sees nothing. He’s cold again, but the room is a comfortable temperature. “Are you certain it’s nothing?” Remus questions Janus again, leaning against the wall as they wait for the door to open for them to continue.
“Yeah, it’s just my mind playing tricks on me,” Janus tries to rationalize.
“Or, perhaps, it could be something for the haunted house?” Logan attempts to give a solution. “Perhaps, I’m not scared of it.” He lies again. He’s terrified. Why is it after him? Why can’t Logan or Remus see or hear it? Whatever, it was almost over.
The doors open for them to go up the stairs, the final room before they could leave. Janus stays between Remus and Logan, something didn’t feel right. Something feels off, it feels like dread. He takes a deep breath to calm himself as Remus enters the upstairs bedroom with a strange delight.
“What is so funny to you?” Janus almost snaps.
“This is where that person died,” Remus answers as he opens the door.
Janus stumbles back as he sees the apparition in full glory. It is pale, as dead people are, eyes a dull green and brown, sunken in with dark dark circles under his eyes. That isn’t what sold Janus on the whole ghost thing though, rather it was the deep line on the man’s neck, exposing all of his throat. There was also a dark deep stain on the man’s shirt. “Get out.” A demand that gets louder and louder as the door stays open. Remus notices Janus grow pale and stumble backwards. He quickly looks into the room itself, seeing nothing.
“Jan?” He questions but it falls on deaf ears.
Janus shakes his head and puts his hands to his ears. It’s too loud. It’s grown to shrieking. He mutters to himself a low “shut up” to the ghost itself.
Logan catches Janus as he stumbles back once more, “let us get him to the room so he may sit down.” “Good idea,” Remus picks up Janus and walks into the room with him despite protests from both Janus and the ghost. Logan shuts the door as Remus sets Janus into a chair.
“Janus, can you hear me?” Logan questions. Remus turns to look around the room for anything that may have caused this reaction from Janus. “Loud, he’s so loud,” Janus mutters to Logan. He can see he’s talking but the ghost is too loud to make out what he’s saying.
Logan looks over at Remus who only shrugs and starts fighting the air. He shivers when he hits something but he sees nothing. Logan shakes his head at Remus and turns back to Janus. He takes one of Janus’ hands to set against his chest so Janus could follow his breathing.
Remus however just grins, “it’s a ghost! There’s an actual ghost! Holy shit!” He cackles.
Both Janus and the ghost look over at Remus very confused. It gives Janus a small reprieve from the shouting.
“It’s the ghost! The person I’ve been talking about since we got here! His name started with a V… Victor? No, Vixen? No, no,” Remus paces as he tries to recall the man’s name. The ghost looks appalled at Remus and his pacing, “no! You’re supposed to leave!” They throw one of the decorations to the floor, making it crash. “Oh!” Remus snickers at the thing falling, “hi to you too! I wonder how ya look now. Maybe ya ain’t lookin too bad for dead,” he teases the ghost with a shoulder wiggle.
Janus and Logan groan at his attempt.
“Get out.” That everyone heard. Janus just leans against Logan’s shoulder, tired of this already. “Nah, gotta wait for the door to open anyway. Besides, I've always wanted an encounter with a ghost. Oh! Virgil! That’s your name. Anyway, ghosty why don’t I get to see you? Why can only Janny see ya?” He pouts at where he connected his fist with Virgil’s form.
Virgil gives no answer to Remus, making his pout even deeper.
“Now that’s not fair. Oh! I wonder if salt works against ya like Supernatural?” He questions with a grin as he pulls out some salt packets. “Are you serious?” Logan questions him. “Absolutely! Serious as a heart attack!” Remus cackles as he opens the packets and throws it where he last knew Virgil to be. “You missed,” Janus groans at him. “Aw. Is he even still here?” Remus asks him. “Yes, and he looks very annoyed.” “Poo. Sucks,” he sticks his tongue out. “Well if you’d stop provoking him we might be able to get out of this,” Janus snaps. “But this is more fun!” Remus grins.
Janus groans and stays on Logan's shoulder. “Either way we are currently stuck until the operators open the door or the ghost does,” Logan reminds all of them, “so we may need to get comfortable for the moment. Mr…” “Nyx,” Remus finishes the name.
“Mr. Nyx,” he states again, “I apologize on behalf on my lovers here, we did not mean to intrude-” “I did,” Remus interrupts. “We” Logan stresses, “did not mean to intrude. We were unaware of a presense here. We will be leaving shortly if you wouldn’t mind calming down for those moments we are all stuck here.” There was a moment of complete silence before the globe spun nearby. “He agreed,” Janus translates for them.
“Cool,” Remus grins again, “anyway what’s he look like?” “I’ll tell you later,” Janus answers him.
There is a few moments of silence before Virgil spoke up to Janus, “do you really plan on leaving?” Janus nods. “Good,” Virgil sounded both thankful and hesitant. “You have something you need,” Janus states, calling out the ghost’s slight bluff. Logan and Remus looked over at this point. “No,” he huffs and crosses his arms over his chest defensively. “Yeah.” “What’s he saying?” Remus asks. “Just asking if we plan on leaving,” Janus shrugs, “I know he needs something but he won’t tell me. That’s his loss. He can rot here.” It was a bluff. None of them would be able to leave the ghost alone after this if they didn’t take care of it now.
“You wouldn’t,” Virgil growls. “I would,” he looks over at Virgil, “admit it. I’m your only chance of moving on.” He goes silent. “That’s what I thought.”
“You’re so hot when you get like this,” Remus remarks with a dopey smile which causes a small snicker from Logan that he tries to hide.
“Thank you dearest,” Janus states to Remus with a smile as well. “Kinda wanna make out now.” “Ew.” Virgil threw a book between the both of them. Janus hides a laugh behind his hand.
“Aw, cockblocked by the ghost,” Remus pouts, obviously teasing everyone. “Watch it or I take off your head,” Virgil threatens Remus as he goes for another book. “He can’t hear you,” Janus reminds him.
“I don’t care.” Janus rolls his eyes, “are you the one holding the doors closed? None of the other rooms have lasted this long.” “No. I wanted you out. I wouldn’t trap you,” Virgil huffs, crossing his arms over his chest again.
Logan, as Virgil and Janus were speaking, went over to the doors and tested them before listening for any screams or voices. “I do believe we’ve been left in this room.” “What?!” Both Janus and Virgil question. “I hear no other parties. Perhaps there was a mechanical issue.” “No, no. Absolutely not. Get the fuck out of my house!” Janus puts his hands to his ears again, “we can’t do anything!” “Get out!” Logan sighs heavily and hits the wall to make a loud noise, startling both Janus and Virgil. “This will be of no use. Unless Mr. Nyx can open the door we are currently locked in here. So, I would suggest you both calm down. Now, the only other thing I can offer is a way for both Remus and I to hear Virgil.” “No!” “He doesn’t like that idea.” “Well, he doesn’t get a choice now! Logan, do it!” Remus jumps up and down excitedly.
“Shhhh,” Logan hushes Remus before looking at Janus, “if he doesn’t want to he will not.” “Oh god,” Virgil murmurs. “What?” Janus looks over at Virgil. That was not a response he was expecting to Logan’s reassurance. “Shut up. Shut them up. Now.” “Why?” The stairs creak, this time everyone freezes, eyes glued to the door. Virgil picks up the book again to throw at whoever opens the door. There’s low murmurs outside the door and a loud thump. “I thought you said that the doors were unlocked!” “They are!”
“Obviously not!” They all look between each other. Logan mouthing, “rescue?” Virgil shakes his head at Logan’s question. He whispers, “doesn’t sound like rescue.” Janus shakes his head to Logan to answer him as well. They listen silently as the people walk away. All of them let out a deep breath they were holding.
“You need to get out,” Virgil states again. “I noticed,” Janus hisses back, getting a low hiss from Virgil in response. “Imma break it,” Remus looks at the door with a grin. “Do it.” Janus instructs before Logan can talk them out of it. Remus kicks at the door, after the third kick it splinters, “there! Out!”
“Good. We need to get out now.” Janus moves to leave. He didn’t want to spend another moment in that house. “Careful,” the ghost warns, “they could be anywhere.” Janus shakes his head at Virgil, funny how the ghost pushing them to leave was being nice now. Remus, however, takes the lead anyway again. Logan glances around for a moment before spotting a picture. “Ah, I understand,” Logan takes the picture before walking downstairs to join the others.
~~~~ Remus led the others through the side rather than the front or the back to keep them away from whoever those people were. He gets them all in the car and starts driving them home. He snickers lightly, “ well, that was a fun haunted house!” “No,” Janus states. “I found it interesting,” Logan backs up Remus.
“See, specs liked it,” Remus sticks his tongue out at Janus. He shakes his head and looks out the window, seeing a pale figure with a line on his neck in the backseat, “oh shit.”

Logan put up his notebook after he read their responses. Re would just have to pout. There were more important things to discuss than the round and round with his soulmates. He set it aside with a soft sigh. He looked over to his brother who was still writing to his soulmates, “are they still anxious?” “Yeah, but they’re better than earlier. I got Ro to calm down.” “That’s good. However, you should let them know you’re at dinner.” “Yeah, yeah,” Virgil wrote the quick excuse and something else before setting his book aside with a slow exhale. “How are you feeling?” “Overwhelmed,” Virgil sighed and his shoulders dropped. “That’s how you felt meeting Ro as well,” Logan reminded him. “I know,” he almost huffed out, “but now I’m being mediator which is even worse.” “They will be okay,” Logan reminded him. “I know…” “Mhm, now we need to figure out what to eat. From there we should discuss what we will be doing when we get there.” Virgil groaned, “can’t we just get there first?” “No,” Logan picked up the menu, “it’ll be two am when we get there. We don’t have any beds or mattresses in there yet either.” “Ugh. Can we just get a hotel for the night then?” “I can attempt to do so,” Logan stated, “I’ll call as you drive.” “I have to drive?” “Yes, that was what we agreed on earlier.” “Ugh, fine,” Virgil paused a moment, “wait, attempt? What if you can’t?” “Then we will have to sleep on the floor for a night,” Logan gave a small shrug in response. “Okay,” he grabbed his own menu to flip through.

Three Written Loves Chapter 8
Romoxiety and Intruloceit soulmate au where you are given a notebook to communicate with your soulmate at 16. You cannot say your name, address, place of school/work, number, etc.
TW: Injury Chapter is written in Patton's POV with mentions of Demus/Dukeceit, and Romoxiety
Oh God he actually did it. The pen in his hand shook with his nerves. V had been moderating Ro’s excitement but Ro didn’t seem to be contained. He could hear the twins bickering about something. He didn’t know what yet though. He hadn’t said much really. It was so much.
Patton took a deep breath and set the book aside. Okay, they don’t seem to be angry at him at least. He hadn’t had a chance to explain himself though. He still felt guilty. He pressed his hands to his eyes. It’s so much so soon. He jumped as the door to the room opened.
“Scare you?” Roman asked. “No! Just startled,” he looked away slightly. “Alright, well I was checking on your ankle it’s been a little while.” “Oh,” Patton carefully rolled it with a small wince, “it still hurts and is a little swollen still…” he answered honestly. “Yeah, it’ll be sore for a while. Speaking of, what happened? I don’t remember being told.” “I just tripped on a root,” he answered with a small shrug. It wasn’t really a lie. He was just ommitting why he tripped on the root. “Ah, yes, the enemies of mankind: Roots,” Roman joked some, lightening up the atmosphere. Patton giggled and held his book close, “uhm, what were you and Remus fighting about?” He huffed and put his hands on his hips, “the usual. He wants to go see his soulmate at his job and wants information on mine. Nothing new.” “Oh wow. Why can’t he see him?” “Because his soulmate asked him not to if he goes alone. It always gets him in trouble,” Roman sighed and shook his head. “Ah,” he looked away again. “Anyway, how’s it going with your soulmates?” Roman sat next to Patton, “mom’s on her way with food.” “It’s… a lot,” he held on tighter to the book. “They do anything to hurt you?” Roman asked with a small flame of protectiveness in his look. “No! Oh no! They’ve just been rather overwhelming with things,” he shook his head as he talked. “Alright,” Roman calms slightly, “do you want to eat at the table with us? If not I can bring you the food instead” “I want to try,” Patton answered. He was rather nervous about it though as he moved to get up. Roman helped him up out of the bed, “it’ll be okay. I mean, we’ll probably be loud and Remus is well… Remus but you can always come back here,” Roman promised. “Thank you,” Patton let himself be led to the table.

Let the Waltz Take Over
Just a random “poem” to vent
Let the waltz take over
The dance of forever
The loveless dance
Let the waltz take over
You’ve done it before
One two
One two
Let the waltz take over
It’s less stressful this way
No more worries
No more strife
Just one two
Let the waltz take over
The movement a memory
Freedom was never an option
Only go through the motions
Just let the waltz take over
One two
One two
The waltz of forever
The loveless dance
The waltz has taken over again
One two
One
Two

This Is My Nightmare
(Song Fic inspired by My Nightmare by Get Scared) Ship: Prinxiety Warnings; Grief, Mentioned Major Character Death, Ghost!Roman
Virgil shot up in bed with a sob. Oh it all felt so real. The phantom feeling of his lover’s lips, the whispered I love yous, the gentle dates they used to share. He shook his head vigorously to shake the feeling as he drug himself out of bed to the mirror. He passed the piles of clothes and the boxes that held all of /his/ things.
He shakily looked in the mirror. Roman would’ve hated to see this side of him. They had worked through most of this. His face suken in from a while of not eating, his paler skin from not going outside and facing the sun or their friends, and the deepening dark circles under his eyes from not sleeping. He shook his head with a soft sigh before splashing his face with cold water.
Virgil turned off the water and glanced at the mirror once more. Startled at the figure behind him in the mirror, he scrambled back into the door while he looked where the figure had once stood. There was no one there. He could’ve sworn that a figure in a rather silly looking shirt was standing there. He recognized the shirt though, now that he had a moment to think. It was one of Roman’s. The black shirt with a gold crown on it and the silly stupid saying of “Best King” on it. It was one of Roman’s favorites even if it got glitter everywhere.
Virgil rushed over to the box that held that specific shirt and quickly grabbed it. It was the last shirt Roman wore. It still had the rips. He couldn’t even look at it, let alone try to fix it. It was here. So how was that person wearing it? He shook his head once more with a shaky sigh and put the shirt back up. It was probably a trick of the imagination, but why did the figure look so sad? Roman was never that sad. Overwhelmed? Yeah. Scared? Yeah. But that sad? Never. He yawned and headed to the kitchen, hoping to at least eat something today. It was difficult with so many memories of Roman everywhere. Cuddling on the couch while Roman made fun of whatever was on the TV. Swinging dances in the kitchen as Roman made food for them. Passing kisses in doorways. Oh it all hurt so much still and made it difficult to leave let alone eat.
He was able to grab a poptart though as he scrolled through the endless texts from the others. They were all worried about him. He knew they were. He just couldn’t look at the pity on their faces. He does chuckle at Patton’s threat of breaking into his house though with a mouthful of poptarts. Patton would never. Well he would show up but he doubted that he’d break in. Now Remus? Or Janus? Yeah. He’d be a bit more scared of that. He doesn’t need to fix yet another broken thing. He’s broken plent of things purely by accident. A vase, a picture, plates, glasses. Thankfully none of it was Roman’s. He didn’t think he could ever forgive himself if he broke anything of Roman’s. He froze at the sound of static and the sudden overwhelming scent of Roman. He didn’t leave anything on and he didn’t have anything left that strong. What the hell? Maybe just another hallucination. He tears up though at a text from Remus from a few days ago. He shook his head at the reminder that this wasn’t his fault and there was nothing he could’ve done. He knew. Logically there was nothing he could’ve done. He was asleep at the time. He didn’t even know that Roman left. But it didn’t stop him feeling guilty. Virgil pulled a pillow closer to hug it with another shaky sigh. When did this get easier? He just wanted to still crawl in a hole and never wake again. At least in his dreams he was still with Roman, in his arms, able to laugh and hold him once more. What he would give to have Roman back. He moved to turn on some music to drown out the always present silence lingering now. He missed the loud obnoxious Disney music Roman always had to sing in the mornings. He couldn’t listen to that. So instead he pulled up something more emo and fitting of the vibe. He slowly relaxed as the music started.
“In a slumber where no one can wake me from
The scent of her skin still haunts my lungs
Where the moon never leaves her eyes
Here's a toast to another endless night
It's a feeling in my bones
A carousel for two that no one knows
What a twist, when we kiss I feel sick
Any moment I could wake without your lips
My paradise
Is stripped and I'm weak
You'll never know
How much it kills me”
Virgil mumbled along as he attempted to clean up the poptart mess. He should probably do more cleaning but he didn’t know how much he could handle.
“Every time I close my eyes I dream that you're still here
(This is, this is my nightmare)
Every time I go to sleep I scream 'cause you're not there
This is my nightmare”
If it wasn’t so loud he would’ve passed it off as yet another grieving hallucination. The very soft but still somehow audible over his music, “but I’m still here.” The honeyed tone he knew ao well and loved. He whirled around to find the source, hoping to see Roman there and okay even if he did see the body in the coffin.
“Roman?”

Three Written Loves Chapter 5
Romoxiety and Intruloceit soulmate au where you are given a notebook to communicate with your soulmates at 16. You cannot say your name, address, place of school/work, number, etc.
Tw: Anxiety/Depression, ignoring one's own health, if I need to tag anything else let me know
Chapter is in Patton’s POV with mentioned Prinxiety
Fonts/Colors for the chapter from Google Docs: Virgil’s- Pacifico purple last dot  Roman’s- Pinyon Script red 4th dot Patton’s- Amatic SC Blue dot 3
V: You got more little hearts princey
V: Princey?
V: Oh right you’re driving. Talk to you soon
The entire ride Patton had been doodling little hearts near Roman’s more finished pieces. He tried to ignore the twin’s bickering and the writing from the purple writing. He was still very anxious to say anything to them just yet. However, his thoughts were quickly interrupted by being picked up once more.
Patton yelped in surprise and quickly latched onto the twin that picked him up. He huffed at both twin’s laughter. “That’s not funny.”
“It is a little funny,” Roman teased a little as he walked them both inside, “again Remus has your stuff, aside from the notebook that is.”
“No, not yet,” Patton answered honestly.
Patton blushed a little at the teasing tone of his notebook, “yeah..”
“Do your soulmates know?”
“You’re welcome!” Roman flourished before setting Patton down on what would become his bed, “I’ll be right back! Make sure to tell your soulmates!” He yelled while leaving the room.
“You should probably tell them.”
“I will.”
“Good. I’ll set you down in bed then get you some ice and medication for your ankle. When mama gets home I’ll have her check out your ankle just in case. Good?”
“Yeah. That’s wonderful. Thank you.”
Patton sighed softly and watched the current ink, waiting for a response from Roman to appear.
Ro: I just saw! Yeah I was driving me, my brother, and my new friend home. I’m getting them an icepack at the moment
V: Ice pack?
Ro: Yeah, looks like a sprained ankle. Dunno where they got it from tho which is worrying. Going to get mom to check it out later
V: Damn. Hopefully it’ll be alright
Ro: I’m sure it will be. I just want to know more about our mystery third and when I could find out where you’re goin
V: When they’re ready they’ll talk to us and I’ll get there when I get there and I can’t tell ya that princey. You gotta guess
Ro: Dumb rules. Homophobic if you ask me
V: Pretty sure it’s the same rules for everyone
Ro: Still homophobic
V: Whatever you say. You go take care of your guest. I’m not going anywhere
Ro: Will do! Will also keep you updated!
V: You better. Ttyl princey
Their conversation ended with a small red heart. Patton smiled at the small red heart just as Roman walked in.
“Sorry for taking so long. Didn’t want to worry my soulmate anymore than I already had,” Roman explained before moving to help elevate Patton’s ankle and set the ice carefully ontop of the ankle.
“It’s okay. I completely understand,” Patton’s tone took a fond note as he held his book close before his fond smile dropped to something sadder.
“You didn’t talk to them did you?”
“No… I never had…”
“Why?”
“Just… family,” Patton’s shoulders dropped some as his grip tightened.
Patton took a deep breath but flipped to the back. The blank page glared at him but with another deep breath he doodled a small paw print.
“Well I don’t think that should stop you now. They’re probably very worried about you.”
“If they think I exist.”
“I’m sure they do. At least attempt? Even if it’s a simple hi?”
“Can I just doodle instead?”
“Sure! Just try it. I have to go do a few things. You’ll be okay here?”
“Yeah. Thanks Ro.”
“You’re welcome! I’ll check on you soon!” Roman smiled at him before leaving him alone once more.
Pat: Hi

Janus Gets a Baby
This is just fluff of Janus getting a baby. The baby is just a random oc with a random name. Three other sides get mentioned but no ships
Janus cooed at the bundle in his arms. Oh had it been so long since he had a smaller one to take care of. It was only temporary, said the twins. They had done something, Janus didn’t care what, and caused this small bundle of joy into his life. The little one babbled back to him as he gently rocked them side to side.
He bristled at hearing someone walk up to his door, however. He had an image to uphold but the little one didn’t deserve such cruelty. He sighed heavily but continued to rock the child to sleep before calling to the side outside his door, “what do you want?”
“Just checking on you. Twins found a construct to give the baby to that will take care of it,” the other stated, “they’re gonna come by in a bit.”
“Thanks for the warning,” Janus stated rather dryly. He didn’t want to give the baby up just yet. The person retreated down the hall once more. He sighed softly but nuzzled the sleeping baby one more time and hummed the small lullaby he had made for the child after the first four days it had been in his arms.
Did he really have to let go of her? Did he have to let yet another child of his go? He desperately wanted to keep her but knew he’d never be able to handle the aftermath of that action. He sighed softly but whispered a soft, “goodbye little Rosalynn.”
~~~~
It had been a few days since the baby had been taken. The hollow empty feeling never got any easier. If he could help it Janus stayed out of his room. He couldn’t look at the hole where the cradle had been. He missed her dearly.
Which was probably what made it easier for him to hear the hushed talking of the twins and the cry of a baby. He perked up at the crying. What were they doing in there? Did they bring her back?
Well, it didn’t take too long before Remus raced up to him. He was sipping on some drink at the time but he turned to see the chaotic twin thrusting the bundle to him. “Watch it,” Janus hissed out dangerously as he carefully held the bundle in his arms. He cautiously moved the blankets out of his baby’s face with a small fond smile.
The baby ceased crying and reached up to Janus’ face. “Yes, little one. It’s me again. Giving them a hard time?” He teases the child in his arms but turned to walk back to his room while rocking her gently.
“How long has it been since you slept?” He fussed, ignoring the twins gaping behind him. Janus sat in his chair for a moment with a small smile, “well no worries little Rosalynn. I have you now.” He started humming the lullaby once more as he rocked them. It took no time for Rosalynn to fall asleep in his arms once more. He wasn’t letting them take her away from him again.
Logan not L0g4n
Tw: Self depreciation, starvation, not taking care of ones self, started as an idea and turned into a fic
(No unsympathetic sides. Just oblivious)
So what if there was a particular episode where Logan was just completely ignored and he just felt unwanted and not needed. Just wanting to duck out but knowing he couldn't without it hurting Thomas. What he can do though is starve himself and overwork himself. It won't do anything to his host but it'd help. Maybe. It doesn't. He just wants to be noticed and wanted but he doesn't wanna bother his two bfs. His line of thinking not the greatest and not logical at all and he keeps trying to force himself out of it but it doesn't work. He then thinks of a way to give them pure logic that will only give advice when wanted. A robot. No emotions clouding logical reasoning. No being interrupted. Nothing. Of course Logan couldn't duck out still but maybe it would help the others. Remus and Janus still had each other after all. He hadn't heard anything from them anyway. They might've been busy. He physically creates it just so someone can stop him. He doesn't want to be proven right that they'd prefer this. Tears slipping without his knowledge as he works on it. By the time the hammer hits that last peice in he's numb. He can't cry anymore. No one has come by at all. It hurts but he understands. A heavy exhale at it. The robot looks like him, feels like him, but isn't him. Time to test it. He let the robot out of his room. The movement was like he would. He nodded slightly as it left. Leaving the door cracked to hear everything.
The robot hadn't visited Remus or Janus but they had come for famILY bonding time and noticed L0g4n on the couch. Remus immediately knew something was up. Usually Logan would look over at them when there was noise and give a little bit of a smile that he tried to hide around the others but he was just so fond of them he couldn't help it. Remus sat on one side of L0g4n while Janus sat on the other. Usually Janus was a bit cold even with the capes and extra layers so he would cuddle up to Logan (denying it to the others if they tried to bring it up) but this one was cold. "Are you alright Logan?"
"Yes. I am functioning at optimal level."
Remus and Janus look at each other with *that* look. Remus punching the robot (not knowing it hurts Lo too) causing an outcry from Patton. The robot obviously doesn't react. Janus getting up and heading to Logan's room while Remus deals with that. Logan was doubled over at his desk with an arm over his stomach in pain. Having felt the punch and it didn't help the pain of not eating. He was cold but he had work to do and he had to check on the robots levels. Then he can curl up and try and sleep again. It was difficult without his partners and he never slept well, well not anymore. Why hadn't they noticed he stopped going to them? When the robot took over being Logic he'd dissappear. Not that he minded right now. There was a loud knock on the door but he couldn't answer. Just didn't have the strength to anymore. He didn't want anyone to see him. Especially like this. Too late anyway.
Janus storming into his room, opening his mouth to scold before seeing Logan's state and the look given. A look of slight fear, still so much love, pain, and slight relief. He looked so cold which would put Janus to sleep if too cold but his bf needed him. Janus popping in some soup and moving to help Logan sit up. A difficult task with him in that much pain. He wouldn't stay up. Janus sighed heavily and looked over at the door before summoning Remus. Who popped in and automatically opened his mouth to say something that Janus silenced him for. Remus looked bewildered but looked over and realized. Remus becoming more and more angry at someone. Who? He didn't know but he wanted to hurt everyone that caused this. He understood what Janus needed him to do and he helped hold Logan to sit up. Gently kissing his cheek that Logan leaned into. It had been a little while since he had any affection. It felt nice. Janus moved to feed him just a little bit. Too much would cause Logan to throw up and he really needed something on his stomach. Too little would make this worse. He had to be careful. Finally they got through the bowl. Janus nodding to Remus who picked up Logan who squeaked in surprise. Them going over to Logan's bed and setting him down before cuddling with him. Warming him and definitely making him feel loved.
"Lo?"
"Hm?"
"Why did you do that?"
He didn't answer but the answer was obvious causing Janus to sigh, "we do love you Logan and we missed you."
"Yeah! Missed talking about-"
"Not going there Remus. But we did miss you so much," Janus gently kissed his temple.
"Mhm!" Remus wasn't as sweet or didn't seem so but to Logan it was. He knew the chaotic trash man and knew that sloppy neck kisses can be his way of affection. Logan relaxed against his bfs, letting them be affectionate and continue to praise and reassure him as he drifted off to sleep.
V: Don’t pull that
V: Just be careful
Ro: I will. Talk to you later V!
V: Talk to you later Ro
Patton read the newest writing at lunch. Okay. This was more than a coincidence now. He took a deep breath. He needed to give them some sort of sign he was there but maybe it was better to ask Roman about it. Maybe he could help and not judge for it. Patton glanced around the cafeteria to try and find Roman with no results. He sighed in defeat before yelping at hands touching his shoulders.
“No need to be so jumpy padre,” Roman teased him before he moved his hands back down to his sides with slight worry for Patton.
“Sorry…” Patton looked away and held his soul book closed and close to his chest. “No need to apologize.” Roman attempted to look over his shoulder anyway. “You talking to your soulmate?”
“Uh… no… not exactly.” He held his book a little more protectively.
“Why not?” “I just… I can’t say…” “Are you okay?” Patton answered a little too quickly and excitedly with a: “Of course!”
“Patton don’t lie to me.” Roman put a hand on his hip dramatically. “What’s going on?” “I-” He started to say before nothing else would come out and he shut his mouth. “Yooou?”
“I’m not ready to talk about that. I’m sorry.”
“Are you in any danger?” He moved to squat next to Patton to look at his face.
Patton shook his head quickly, “no. Not anymore. Thank you again for letting me stay with you.” Roman smiled, “of course! Now can you talk to your soulmate?” “No…” Patton glanced at the book in his hands sadly.
“Why not? I mean you have a pen and your book so what are you waiting for?” Roman asked a bit too excitedly that startled Patton slightly.
“Well… it’s been a while and they look happy now. Besides I don’t want to get rejected for-” Patton cut himself off and shook his head with tears welling in his eyes.
“Hey,” Roman set a comforting hand on his shoulder, “I’m sure they’ll wanna talk to you. If they don’t you still have me at least! I’ll have to talk to my soulmate first but I’m sure we can work it out.” “Really?” Patton glanced up at Roman. “Really. The bell’s about to ring so better clean up a little. I’ll see you at J wing when the final bell rings?” He questioned with an extended pinky for him to take.
Patton smiled and nodded before interlocking their pinkies, “see you then.” Roman smiled brightly with yet another nod before slipping away once more into the sea of people. Patton sighed happily and wiped his face with his sleeves. Things were finally looking up for him. He did however pull out his book and the pen. He flipped to the page with a bunch of red drawings with purple remarks and drew a very small light blue heart with a smile. He hoped Roman was right. The bell rang and he went to the next class with his head held higher and a smile on his face.
Once was mine, will be again
TW: Cheating, talk of gore/major character death (none of which into too much detail), abuse, suicide jokes, can be seen as unsympathetic Roman, one joke about balls
“Remus? Remus? Are you there?”
The phone hung limply in his grasp. His brother’s voice going through the receiver. Shock written all over his face. No. No. No. Why was this happening? His love? Roman’s? Remus threw the phone at the wall with a cry of anguish. The phone lay in pieces on the floor just as his heart felt in his chest. No not shattered. Torn. Yes torn. Torn out of his chest and torn all to shreds by his brother and his ex? lover. He pressed his palms to his eyes to stop the tears that wouldn’t stop flowing. Lava. It felt like the tears were burning through his skin. Logan was supposed to be his. The one person/thing he had taken by the “better” twin. By Mr. Perfect. By everyone’s favorite prince.
    It had started when Roman called him. At first he just thought it was his dumbass brother pining over that emo again. Boy was he surprised to hear that his brother got a fiance. Which then went as follows:
“Oh? Finally got with the spider?”
“No actually-”
“Then who? Come on don’t leave out any juicy details. Spill the blood.”
“Ew no. Anyway it’s Logan-”
Which brings us back to the present. Remus’ shoulders shuddered till he heard the furious knocks on his door, “Go away!” Remus yelled at the person at the door. He didn’t want to see hi- no Roman’s starlight or Roman for that matter. The knocking persisted so he dragged himself over to the door and opened it, “what?!”
The person at the door was neither his brother nor Logan no it was Virgil himself, eyes full of heartbreak and anger, “I have a plan.”
“Less it involves me breaking my brother’s bones into tiny shards I don’t want it.”
“Maybe. Let me in.”
“Fine. I’m gonna be disappointed if ther-”
“Just shut up, let me in and let me explain.”
“Fiiiiiiiiiine,” Remus let the emo in with a huff, shutting the door behind Virgil. He turned to look at the emo to see him staring at the broken phone on the ground. Remus thought he could hear something pass Virgil’s lips but he didn’t quite catch it. He cleared his throat before speaking, “so now what’s your plan?”
“You get Logan back and get to punch Roman in the face."
“Great. Go in balls swinging?”
“No.”
“Damn.”
“Get him back first.”
“Oh? So I get to take-”
“No! Ew!”
“Hmpf. No fun.”
Virgil shook his head quickly, “gross. Anyway I heard something from Pat about their ‘relationship’-”
“Didn’t know you were the gossiping type! You should totally come to -”
“No. I don’t gossip-” Remus gave Virgil a look, “often.”
“Well spill it. I have a brother to kill.”
“No killing him. He’s an ass but I still want him.”
“Daaaaaaaamn still get on with it.”
“Pat says that Ro basically forced L to say yes. That L isn’t acting himself around Ro and continues to do odd things.”
“Liiiiike?”
“I don’t know. I haven’t seen them in a while…”
“Well shit knocker can’t avoid me forever!”
“But he can hurt L.
“I will put him six feet under.”
“No.”
“I will.”
“Don’t.”
“No promises.”
“You get L out I deal with Ro.”
“Bu-”
“No. L needs your help right now. Get revenge later. I’ll nurse him back to health after.”
“No death?”
“No death.”
A few weeks has gone by since that conversation. Remus reluctantly planned more things with Virgil. Today was the day. Pat being their inside man and telling V everything that’s been going on between him, Lo, and Ro. Remus had figured out that Lo’s actions were SOS signals for someone to help him. They had about five months till the wedding that hopefully would be cancelled after this. Well if this works that is. They had walked up to Roman’s house only to see the car was gone. To which they had texted Pat only to get a response that Ro had taken Lo out on a vacation. If Remus still had his phone he would’ve tracked them by now but he couldn’t.
One turned to two to five rescue attempts. All turned out to be at the exact time of a vacation, date, something. Now it was the day of the wedding. For some reason they were invited after basically six months of silence. So there they were on the bride’s side. None of them were color coded or labeled but it seemed like all of Roman’s family (aside from Remus of course) were on the left while barely anyone was on the right. It was odd but nothing too odd. Well to Remus anyway. He knew why Logan’s family didn’t come and good riddance anyway. He sat there stewing in his own anger. His starlight didn’t deserve this. Roman was talking to his family but Remus wasn’t really focusing on what was said and he couldn’t when he was elbowed hard in the ribs, “ow!”
“Stop. Your anger is attracting attention and not good. Everyone’s moving over to Ro’s side.”
Remus huffed but tried to calm down as best as he could. Looking around for anything that would but it was hard to with all the dominating red in his vision or even line of sight. Very symbolic if you asked him. Shortly Roman moved to the left side of the alter standing not so still as they all waited impatiently for the “bride”. That’s when Remus noticed his dad wasn’t even beside his mom. Oh no.
The music started not that long after. Everyone stood and turned to look at the doors of the church. While it seemed sweet to everyone else Remus could tell his father’s iron grip on Logan’s arm. Not letting him run or do anything but walk forward. A threat. A promise. One he had to deal with often when he was at home. There was almost no light left in his starlight. Remus caught Logan glancing for anyone or anyway to escape. A small bit of light returning before it fell quickly and he flinched back. He couldn’t tell if that was because of his father or himself. No. Remus wasn’t angry with Logan anymore. It wasn’t his fault. The dress Logan was wearing didn’t even fit Logan’s aesthetic. Who picked it? His family was all about tradition so it wasn’t Roman. His mom? His dad? Whoever said that would pay. Logan looked absolutely miserable in it. A ballgown dress that wasn’t traditional at all. A dark blue thankfully with silver sparkles basically everywhere in some designs that weren’t Logan at all. A silver crown on his head holding the veil that didn’t cover his face at all. And knowing his family there was- not going down that train of thought yet. His anger increased tenfold. This time though Virgil didn’t reprimand him. He himself hurt by this display. Thankful that Remus didn’t catch the makeup hiding God knows what. Virgil had to cover Remus’ mouth when the priest asked for any objections. Logan had a plan. He knew it. Remus had retaliated by licking Virgil’s hand.
“Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?” The priest asked Roman first.
“I do.”
“Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?” He asked Logan. There was a beat of silence that had everyone at the edge of their seats. Then Roman mouthed something to Logan. Something that no one heard but they saw Logan grimace and flinch. Well till his resolve firmed. A fire entering his stance and eyes that no one had seen from him before.
“No,” the word rang out like a heavenly choir to Remus but what happened next was amazing. Before the uproar could start Logan basically punched Roman in the chest with the bouquet. Then he took off the crown and threw it down, breaking it before it tumbled down the stairs, “and I’m not your damsel nor your princess.”
With that he stormed away from the alter. Everyone stayed stock still in shock for a few moments. Giving Logan the time to escape. Remus wasn’t that worried about catching him. He knew all of Logan’s hiding places. But as Remus ran after Logan he tripped his brother with a laugh. While breaking his arm would be satisfying Virgil was right. Logan needed his help.
“I’ll be there soon starlight. Wait for me.”
Haunted Playmate
Happy Holidays @houser-of-stories ! I was also your gift giver for @sanderssidesgiftxchange and I hope you enjoy your gift
Ships: Platonic Prinxiety, mentioned Analogical and Royality
Warnings: Past character death, cursing, mentioned murder, not meant to be unsympathetic Remus but it kind of comes off that way, if there’s anything else needed to be tagged please tell me
There was a creak on the floor that hadn’t been there before. Was someone invading his home? Well, what was his home. He looked over the banister of the stairs to see a man unpacking his things in the house.“
“Well hello there.” Roman smiled and gently greeted the stranger. Logically, he knew that the man couldn’t hear him, but it was still polite. He had manners! He was a gentleman, thank you very much! Roman watched him from a bit afar. This man tended to talk to himself. Virgil? Was that his name? He mumbled it under his breath fairly often. Virgil flopped onto the couch with his phone, probably to order pizza. He would too if he were the one moving into be moving instead. He missed being able to eat and do things. Well, he could push things over but he couldn’t leave the house. Roman sighed softly before looking through the house to see what his new housemate had done with it. So far, he hadn’t gone up to the attic. If Roman had his way, he wouldn’t be able to.
Roman hums a gentle song as he peered into Virgil’s room. Oh! He had a Nightmare Before Christmas poster! Too bad Roman couldn’t borrow it or give him his own posters. His were taken as evidence or removed. It sucked but he understood why. He couldn’t exactly stop them anyway, not that he didn’t try. He shook his head at the memories the thought brought. He didn’t need to accidentally cause an inside storm again. It accidentally hurt a small child and he felt so bad for it even though he couldn’t help it. The room itself wasn’t that bad. Yeah, it was a bit dark and dreary, but there was some normalcy from his time. A string of lights to illuminate the room during the night (purple rather than a soft yellow), a corkboard for pictures or necklaces... The desk was cluttered with art supplies. Was he an artist? Did he have any sketches out? A glance over the desk confirmed that that’d be a no. Of course. Why would an emo have anything out in view that could hint at their past? They wouldn’t unless they trusted you. He knew that a bit too well. But ohoho, what’s this? There was a picture carefully placed on the desk with a number with hearts around it. Now that was interesting. Stormy knight had a crush? On this... Logan Omair? The teach? Too bad he couldn’t call that guy at the moment or he so would. He noticed a cup of pens a little too close to the edge and grinned. New game time. How long can he knock things over before the new guy noticed or left? He knocked over the pen cup and laughed at the sound of his new guest jumping up to look.
Roman left the room quickly and headed to the kitchen instead before Virgil could get there. He chuckles at him cursing at the mess but quickly pouts at there being nothing close enough for him to easily knock anything over. Well, he could always knock over the chairs. He froze though at the doorbell. That was really quick or he was losing time again. That tended to happen more recently but it doesn’t bother him as much anymore.
Virgil ran down the stairs and looked out the window before opening the door with an apology. Was he paranoid? Was he running from something? Was he a criminal?! He’d rather side with the law! Maybe he was just anxious. Who knew? Definitely not Roman. He probably never would. The dark and paranormal walked into the kitchen without looking in Roman’s direction. He grabbed two cups, one he set on the counter while he held the other to get ice and soda. Why did he need another cup? Virgil left the cup on the counter while taking his soda one to the couch. When he got comfortable he immediately swiped the cup off the counter before bolting again.
Virgil smirked at catching a glimpse of Roman’s retreating form, “Gotcha.” He was so glad he didn’t take out his glass cups. A after setting the pizza and the cup of soda down a safe distance from the edge, he got up to pick up the discarded cup and set it down on the edge of the end side table. “Try that one you overgrown cat.” He snarks but unpauses the show to finish it as he ate.
The ghost thought he was slick, didn’t he? Virgil knew about the haunted house rumors and was ready for anything. Well, as much as Supernatural taught and the limited research he had. While he hadn’t been there long, Virgil had already attempted salting the doorways and windows. He’d noticed a few things, too. The ghost could both float above and walk straight through it, so salt was a bust.The ghost seemed to only do anything when he wasn’t looking or not even in the room. He doesn’t know anything about him aside from him acting like a cat. It was kind of amusing but the pens were annoying. Empty Solo cup? No problem. A full cup and he’s just being a pain in the ass. Virgil took a deep breath before getting up and put the pizza box in the trash. He froze at the clatter of the cup but sighed in relief when there wasn’t a splash accompanied. Virgil mocked him slightly when he laughed. He was just thankful the ghost wasn’t hostile and was just being a bit playful. He settled into the couch again and sipped at his drink while spacing out in thought.
Meanwhile, Roman was snickering in what used to be his room. This was great! He was playing along. It was kinda disappointing that he wouldn’t put anything full against the edge anymore, but he understood anyway. Roman would feel the same way if roles were reversed, at least. He gently ran his hand across the wall. He knew feeling the paint was impossible, but that didn’t stop him from wanting to try. Roman missed his tangibility, but… nothing could undo what he did. Roman closed his eyes to get his bubbling anger under control. It’s not that Roman  hated him, but he was still angry and understandably so. As justified as his anger was, the man downstairs didn’t deserve the backlash it would produce. When he had calmed some, he headed to the stairway to see the poor kid was passed out on the couch with his show running. It was kinda interesting but he couldn’t risk it yet. Maybe the next day but not right now. He nodded in the sleeping form’s direction before heading up to the attic. When he got up there he headed to check on his object. He knew where his body was, but that wasn’t what he was tied to. Instead, he was tied to his class ring from his senior class. He tended to wear it everywhere and it held most of his best memories. That’s why he never let anyone up in the attic. If they were to find it and destroy it, well... that would be it. He would be toast and no one would be able to know the truth. No one had tried to talk to him before but hopefully, Virgil would be the first if he so chose or if he could even hear and/or see him.
A few days later the game was still on. Random cups would fall and Virgil had yet to see anything more than a glimpse of the ghost and the sounds of laughter, followed quickly by a cup hitting the floor. That said, the ghost was getting a bit bolder. He would linger especially when Supernatural was on. Virgil could feel the drop in temperature but if he tried to look, the ghost wouldn’t be there. Virgil had done more research on the property and found a few different murders but he didn’t know which one this ghost was from. Tired of the cat and mouse, Virgil hatched a plan. He needed a job for money and, since this was his second rewatch of Supernatural, he could miss a few episodes of the show and be fine. , Virgil decided that was going to announce he was leaving and leave the show on for the ghost to watch. Then, hopefully, he’d come back from applications and finally see the ghost.
Virgil set his trap the next day, leaving and returning a few hours later. When he got back, he made sure to be quiet as he crept in. His eyes widened. Sitting cross-legged in front of the screen was none other than his ghostly roommate. Dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt, he looked a bit younger than Virgil. Unable to see much else from behind, Virgil slowly crept towards the ghost’s side to see any other features so he could compare them to the other murders on the property. Unfortunately, the episode started the credits and the ghost turned, making a shout of surprise and scrambling back,
The ghost almost looked panicked, “Um, hey! You’re back!”
Now that he was facing Virgil, he could see everything. The gold crown on the breast pocket, the line on his throat from where it had been slit, dull green eyes and tanned skin muted by death.
“You’re Roman!” Virgil exclaimed
“You can see me?!”
“Yes?!”
“That’s awesome!”
“No! Not awesome! I knew you!”
“You did?”
“Yes! Roman Kingston and Remus Kingston!”
“Highschool?”
“Yes. You kept making doll eyes at Patton Amato!”
“I did not! But, uh, uh how is he?”
“Frankly, weI haven’t talked much.”
“Who have you talked to?”
“Logan Omair, Remus, Janus,Remy... But I’ve only  Remy and Logan recently.”
“Cool…” Roman slowly unfreezes and shifts to a more casual posture. “So, I saw your little love letter.”
“What?!” Virgil, who had been doing the same, tenses right back up.
“The number? You-!”
“No! Why you?!”
“No idea. You should ask Remus,” he spat bitterly.
“Right… The article said…” Virgil trailed off, rubbing his neck.
“Yeah.” Discomfort is plain as day on Roman’s face. “Let’s not… Anyway, why’d you move here out of anywhere.”
Virgil is glad to change the subject, “You know, settling down and-”
“It’s because Logan lives here, isn’t it.”
“Shut!” Virgil snaps as his face tints pink.
“So it is Logan! Hah!”
“I will kill you again, you ass!” Virgil lunges towards Roman.
“You caaaaan’t,” Roman sing- songs and laughs as he dodges Virgil’s fist
“Get back here!” Virgil chases Roman through the room, thoroughly annoyed by the fact Roman has more mobility.
“Nope! When’s your date?”
“Shut! Up!” He catches up and swings again, hitting nothing.
Roman just laughs at him, “Come oooon!”
“We aren’t dating!” Virgil flops down onto the couch in defeat.
“Not yet!” Roman teases.
“Not anytime soon!”
“Who says?”
“Both of us.”
“Why? You both liked each other in high school.” Roman also calms down a bit, sitting on the other end of the couch.
“Yeah, it’s been a little while.”
“Oh right.”
“Yeah. We said someday but for now, we’re just talking as friends and meeting up with anyone still in town.”
“Like?”
“Patton, Emile, Remus, each other.Remy will pop in someday soon.”
“What about Janus?”
Virgil shrugs, “I haven’t heard from him.”
“Ah.” Roman pauses a moment before speaking again. “When will you talk to Remus?”
“I’m going Wednesday.”
“Can you… can you ask him why for me?”
Virgil looks to Roman out of the corner of his eyes, “I can’t promise he’ll answer.”
Roman nods “...Right.”
“Yeah...” Virgil rubs the back of his neck, sensing Roman’s discomfort.
“Sooo... how’d job hunt go?”
“I’ve applied. They’ll call me to set up interviews.”
“Nice. By the way, what’s up with the emo aesthetic?”
“I told everyone it wasn’t a phase,” he jokes slightly.
“We didn’t think you were serious.”
“Dead serious,” Virgil grinned.
“You did not.”
He just burst out laughing.
“I can’t believe you did this to me! Me of all people! How dare you, sir!”
Virgil put an arm around his stomach as he kept laughing.
“You can’t be serious! No! Don’t answer that you dark fiend! I trusted you!”
He only seemed to laugh harder at his dramatics. Roman only pouted as Virgil slowly calmed down.
“You’re an ass.”
“You still love me platonically anyway,” Virgil teases.
“Sadly.”
He chuckles breathlessly,shakinghis head.
“Hey, did they ever find out why that band split up?”
“The one you listened to religiously in high school? No.”
“Damn. I enjoyed their music.”
Virgil shrugs, “I can play some for you.”
“You look like you know something.”
“Maybe, maybe not.”
“You tease! I can’t tell anyone!”
“I know,” *Virgil grins, “But this is more fun.”
“Asshole.”
“Nice to talk to you, jerk.”
“Bitch.”
“Ahhh, there he is.”
“What?”
“The prick of a prince.”
“Hey!”
“Hello.”
“Why must you be so rude to me?” Roman swoons back, the back of his hand against his forehead.
“No one else can.”
“Rude!”
“I’m not that rude.” Virgil rolls his eyes.
“Yes, you are!”
“Nope.”
“Yes.”
“Not arguing.”
“You’re boring.”
“To you.”
“Exactly.”
“Ah, there’s the brat.”
“So good to be back,” Roman said sarcastically but it soon just turned into them giggling.
“By the way...”
“Hm?”
“Don’t tip over anything full ever again.”
“No promises.”
Virgil looks pointedly at Roman, “Roman.”
With a mischevious grin, Roman turned and ran, phasing away through a wall.
“Roman get back here!” Virgil scrambled to chase after him.
This seemed like a great beginning to a new chapter of both of their lives. And what a wondrous start it was.
My Love
Happy Holidays @missfay49 ! I was your gift giver this year for @sanderssidesgiftxchange and hope you enjoy your gift. Well the final one. I had some interesting ideas for yours with the list I was given and still have the drafts of them. Anyway enjoy!
Notes: Remus goes by it/its pronouns. Logan’s pronouns in this fic are star/stars. Janus goes by they/them. Roman’s just plain he/him
Ships: Roceit, background Intrulogical
The masquerade ball, a perfect time for anyone to talk with the princes. The castle was alight with people from all over the kingdom attempting for his hand despite his disdain against things like this. He had actually fallen for someone but it would not fit with his parent’s agenda. So here he was beside his sibling, looking across the room of people. This was his scene but he has never felt so unwelcome. Girls in dresses fawning over him while closeted men watched him in awe. The straight jealous men glared at him as their girlfriends or wives watched with want. Prince Roman sighed heavily.
His sibling was not fit for the throne so it was allowed to have the person it wanted, the royal scientist Dr. Logan Omair. Currently Logan was talking with a few other scientists but as soon as the ball truly started Remus would take star away to the labs to be given another experiment to try. Remus had become the doctor’s personal lab rat as long as it wouldn’t cause any physical damage or permanent disfiguration. Remus’ mask was black with dark green along with its outfit. It was wearing the ring to show it was currently unavailable.
Roman was jealous his sibling could have who it desired while he had to deal with the crowd of fake people. His own love would be killed for being here. They could change forms due to magic but were often referred to as the Dragon Witch. The one he was supposed to kill to maintain peace for generations to come. He sighed before spotting a familiar black and gold dress. It couldn’t be. The mask hid half of their face that was the same colors as the dress, elegant. He chuckled fondly at seeing them but refrained from moving just yet, even though his being screamed at him to go to them. They moved a gloved hand to their lips with a smile before heading out to the balcony. Roman nodded at the hint while looking towards his parents to have them begin the ball.
Once the announcement was made Roman dashed to the balcony where his love was waiting.
“Jan,” he spoke fondly at almost a whispers volume.
“Lovely to see you here my prince.”
“What are you doing here?” He moved his hands to take their’s.
“Are you complaining?” They tease gently.
“No, I’m just worried for you my dear,” Roman states sincerely.
“I know, but I can handle my own. Care to dance?”
“Only with you. Thank you for coming,” he moved to pull them into a gentle dance to the music flowing from inside.
“Of course. I couldn’t leave you here to fend for yourself against these hungry wolves,” they smile gently, “they would tear my poor handsome prince to shreds if I weren’t here.”
“I am not defensless!” Roman squaked indignatly at the insult.
“Here you are,” they state gently to ease the insult.
“No-”
“My dear you don’t have your sword and your guard is down.”
He sighed but pressed his forehead to theirs dejectedly, “I hate it when you’re right.”
“You love me anyway and I love you for everything you are,” they moved to press a soft kiss to his forehead.
Roman’s face tinted pink, “don’t start this tonight. I don’t want to be flustered or as red as my sash by the end of this evening.”
“I think you look dashing either way.”
“My love, please?”
“Perhaps some other time then?” They ask quietly.
“In my chambers or your place.”
“My how scandalous,” Janus teases in a laugh.
His face heats up as he almost yells, “not like that!”
“I’m only teasing, my sweet prince,” they move slightly closer to gently lay their head against his shoulder, “I missed you.”
“I missed you too,” Roman returns mournfully.
“I missed having you beside me and the sweet tender moments before you had to leave me again.”
“Yes… though should I tell my parents I have chosen then we can have that more often.”
“Yes, I will also get to meet this sibling of yours that you rant so often about.”
He groans, “oh no. Double the magical trouble.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Janus almost grins at the idea.
“Make it triple.”
“Excuse me?”
“Logan would want to know.”
“Star already does,” they hum before kissing his jaw affectionately.
“What?” He looks at them with pure confusion and shock.
“Star isn’t completely human either, my sunlight.”
“That would explain a lot…”
Janus chuckles slightly, “I wish we could go to the garden.”
“Soon. I promise.”
“You need to tell your parents,” they remind him.
“I know. I’m not excited to listen to the complaints that I didn’t dance with everyone,” he shudders at the thought.
“It’s polite though,” Janus points out.
“That doesn’t make it any better to deal with.”
“I know but at least try.”
“I will. I will try but I cannot promise anything.”
“Thank you.”
“Of course,” he moves one of their hands to his lips to gently kiss their knuckles. He sets it back in the form as he led the next dance.
“Don’t want to let go?” They tease again.
“I really don’t,” Roman admits, ”I prefer having you in my arms to admire as we talk about our future or even just dance together. I would rather stay here with you and be able to kiss you again and again until we’re breathless. I want to wake up with you in my arms and not have to worry about you being hurt or killed. I like this. I want this. I want you.”
“Shhhh my love,” they cup his face gently with the mask hiding most of the small blush, “I know. Soon you will have that and more. You will get to wake up every morning with me by your side. I love you and you have me. However, think of this like a game. I am the treasure at the end but you need to dance your way out.”
“Are you serious?” He looks at them with a stranger look.
“Is it working?”
“Yes. I will see you soon my dear but I’m sure my mother will be here soon to talk to you. Be careful please,” Roman tries to puppy eye Janus who only chuckles at it.
“I will. You go have fun. I will be right here awaiting your return,” they put a hand to their forehead, mocking the girls inside and laughing at the motion.
“Thank you,” they state before walking to the smaller gazebo in the middle of the garden before exhaling slowly. Tonight had been very stressful for them and it was almost over. They sat on one of the benches and watched the breeze blow through the rose bush. The garden was beautiful, much better than anything Roman could’ve ever described. Their favorite flower growing nearby Roman’s made it seem all the more romantic to them. It couldn’t ever beat the privacy of the meadow but it definitely topped the wildflowers. They looked up to the sky with a peaceful smile. The stars seemed to shimmer even brighter tonight but that might be due to the love and hope their heart felt.
They shake their head before looking over the balcony with a gentle sigh. Janus startled slightly at someone leaning against it beside them. They stood up and looked at their new guest, “oh, apologies, your majesty.”
“No need dear. My son seemed happier to dance with you.”
“Yes, I’ve seen him quite often lately.”
“Is he unhappy?” She asks with concern.
“With you or your husband? No. He just dislikes the tradition,” they try to ease her worries
“Ah, he’s stated that. You must be Jan then.”
“Yes ma’am,” Janus stiffens slightly before relaxing. Queen Rosa wouldn’t know.
“It’s lovely to meet you finally. I’m sure he’ll tell us that you’re the one soon.”
“I told him to try and dance with a few others,” they shake their head with a sigh.
“He has his heart set on you dear.”
“I know and I am happy for such but I would think he would still be polite,” they sigh exasperatedly.
“He’s trying but most here don’t know how to dance,” the comment from the Queen made them both giggle.
“That is true. I was pulled into one by a male that seemed to have two left feet,” they wince at the memory. They’ll need to ice their feet later but so would Roman.
“Where did you learn to dance?”
“Your son taught me mostly but also books and other ways to learn.”
“Fast learner?”
“Of course. Not as fast as Dr. Omair however.”
“Yes, that boy can learn things within five minutes of seeing whatever it is,” she shakes her head fondly at the memory.
“It’s commendable.”
“Yes it is. If you need anything at all you can come to me.”
“Thank you for the offer.”
“You’re welcome. I’m sure you’d like to wait in the garden for him,” Queen Rosa teases them slightly.
“If you don’t mind,” they sheepishly say.
“Of course not. The guard will take you there,” she motions one over, “take good care of him for me?”
“Of course. Thank you for your blessing,” Janus curtseyed their goodbye to the Queen.
She gave a nod before walking back to her husband. Janus followed the guard through the castle. They muttered a spell to check on the thoughts of the guard that held no malice towards them. They didn’t know about Jan being the dragon witch just yet. The guard stopped at the edge of the garden and motioned them in.
Janus sighs softly. What was taking him so long? There weren't any shots or explosions. Were the people inside refusing to leave? What was going on? They started to mutter another spell when the garden gate opened. They whipped around with a dagger and held it up against someone’s throat.
“Yes, a surprise. Not bad I promise,” Roman quickly adds on when he noticed the worry.
“Roman?”
“Your reaction time is getting quicker,” he chuckles before pointing the dagger away from his throat, “sorry it took me so long.”
Jan gives a huff of a laugh before hugging him tightly, “you blocked my spell.”
“I know! I didn’t think I could do that!” Roman excitedly exclaimed.
“Why did you block me? I thought something happened,” Jan hesitantly admits in a mutter.
“I couldn’t let you ruin the surprise.”
“The surprise?” They looked up at him from where they were holding him.
“I’m sure it can wait a little bit longer.”
“It can,” he started swaying them side to side as he hummed the previous song. Janus started humming along as they closed their eyes. Roman’s heartbeat was quick but steady but it helped just listening. He was okay, nothing happened. They let themselves relax slowly. Their shoulders slowly lowered from their tense posture as Roman continued to hum softly.
“Feel better?” Roman asks softly after a while.
“Mhm,” Jan confirms, “you still have a lovely voice.”
“Well thank you my love.”
“You said you had a surprise for me.”
“Darn. I thought I gave you enough time to forget.”
“Not this time,” they tease tiredly.
“Alright but you gotta let go.”
“Not yet,” they tighten their grip.
“Jaaan,” he whines.
“No. Suffer,” Janus jokes.
“You’re so mean to me,” Roman playfully pouts.
“I am not,” they gently booped him with a sleepy giggle.
“You’re sleepy.”
“Yes, but I won’t sleep until you tell me what the surprise is,” Janus stubbornly says.
“Then let go.”
“Fine,” they hesitantly let go of their lover who immediately moved to one knee with the ring and a smile.
“Oh you-” Jan cuts themselves off.
“Janus, my love, my stars, my everything ever since that one fateful day where you saved me from another dragon’s attack I knew you were the one. You have been nothing but loyal and real. You never let my title get in the way and you helped me see that there is good. Thank you for being here with me and by my side ever since that day. And I would like to ask for your hand in marriage.”
Janus gave him a small teary smile, “of course I will marry you.”
Roman’s smile brightens as he slips the ring onto their finger and kisses them deeply that they happily return even when swept off their feet, not for the last time.
He Has Returned
This is an apology for the next angst fic I will be giving someday
LoKingCeit and fluff. Mentions of Intrulogical, Prinxiety, and Moceit at the beginning. Again started as an idea and became this
So Logan is the first to wake and realize. He had fallen asleep next to Remus and woke up with an empty bed. Usually Remus stayed beside him till he woke up if he woke up before him. He grabbed his glasses off of the bedside table and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. He trudged downstairs to make coffee because he needs to be awake for this shit. He barely is able to take a sip when Virgil flies by in a frenzy and panic, trying to find Roman. He can't find Roman. Where did he go? Janus had been peacefully sleeping beside Patton. Himself curled into the heat of the other. It was nice. Well till a certain anxious side burst through loud enough to startle both him and Patton awake, "I can't find Roman." "Could he be in the imagination?" "No. I already tried to go in but his room is locked and he's not letting anyone in. Remus wasn't near Logan this morning either." Janus froze. There was something off. He quickly got out of the bed. Part of him hoped his fears were correct. Oh how he missed him. But the other part hoped not. He walked up to the door of Creativity and knocked swiftly. His own face pale at some of the thoughts rushing through. There was no response from the other side. Maybe they were busy? Well that's what he thought before there was a crash in the kitchen. Janus bolted towards the kitchen before Virgil and Patton could process what was going on. However he froze at the top of the stairs. A hand going to his own mouth. King. Standing infront of Logan with the broken mug nearby. One hand gently cupping Logan's cheek as his thumb gently rubbed against his cheekbone that Logan leaned into, still in shock but enjoying the gentle touch. King was whispering to Logan, something Janus couldn't quite make out. After a few moments of King whispering to Logan, Logan hugged him tightly and got a tight embrace in return. King didn't turn to look at the stairs but he did smile, "don't think I don't know you're there mon cher~." Janus couldn't respond verbally and didn't think he could physically before his body moved on auto pilot and walked towards King who smiled gently to what was once his partner. He extended an arm for Janus to slot himself into that Janus just slumped into. He hid his face from the others as his shoulders started shaking with hidden sobs. Logan didn't seem any better off. King nuzzled them both gently before kissing their cheeks, "it's alright my loves. I'm here. You're safe."
He didn’t know how long he had been walking when he came up to the school. It was still dark but the school seemed like a safe place to stay. Especially with class tomorrow. Only problem was the alarms so people didn’t go in uninvited or when it wasn’t time or whatever reason they were told this year. Patton yawned but leaned against a tree still out of sight from the cameras or people when they arrived and picked some sticks out of his hair. He was absolutely exhausted and dehydrated but he couldn’t rest yet. Not with school in how long? He had turned off his phone to keep the battery charged even if it wouldn’t work soon with his parents turning off his line. What did he just get himself into? Besides who could he call? He didn’t have any friends at this school he could rely on. Well not yet anyway. He hoped to make some soon. Could he hide in the locker rooms after school? Maybe? Last resort. He’d have to start eating in the lunchroom which was better than nothing. Patton let out a yawn before stretching, wincing at the soreness the action brings. He was pretty sure he twisted his ankle on a root but there wasn’t much he could do about that right now. He’d survive. It’d hurt but it wouldn’t kill him, right? He shook his head to rid himself of the thought before feeling the telltale feeling that someone had written in the book. Patton moved that backpack to his lap before opening it to get out his book and read it. Now he didn’t feel as alone even if he was all alone in the woods, in the dark, and with no sort of water. He scanned the lines given which weren’t that much but it felt like enough to him. If he went back and commented on previous statements would they notice?
Ro: Hey V… You up? I-
V: Yeah I’m up princey. What’s going on?
Ro: I… nvm
V: No. No nvm tell me
Ro: Just a bad feeling and arguments again
V: You’re not hurt are you?
Ro: No! I’m fine just thoughts
V: Just don’t fall asleep writing again. Remember-
Ro: Yeah yeah I remember. Don’t have to bring it up
V: I can feel your pout from here. Remember though-
Ro: I know. Just don’t leave me alone right now.
Ro: I’m sorry I’m supposed to be your prince no-
V: You don’t have to be all the time. Beside you’re already my prince and even princes need saving sometimes
Ro: Thanks V
V: Of course. Got the butterflies?
Ro: Yep! Ones even purple your special color. No harm shall befall any of them
V: You are so cheesy
Ro: You love me thooo
V: That I do. That I do
Ro: Didn’t you say you were moving?
V: Hm? Yeah. Moving in with my brother. Still in the car with him. I should arrive tomorrow morning if traffic holds up
Ro: Really hope its here so I can make good on my promises!
V: I wanna see you try but we’ll see. Maybe
Ro: Someday I’ll find you my love but I have to get up in an hour for school so Imma go to sleep
V: Sleep well. Talk to you later
Patton gently moved his fingers across the writing. So it was about 5 am. Not enough time to actually get enough sleep but enough to get ready. School started at 8:15 am but most showed up between 7:20 and 8:30 am. The halls didn’t open to students till 8 so he had 3 hours. 3 hours to look presentable and not look like he had just been kicked out and had been travelling all night. Did he take a detour? He didn’t remember the path taking that long. Well maybe it was the constant tripping or the slow pace due to not being able to see. Either way. Maybe there was a little house in the woods he could stay in for a little bit. That’d be too easy though. He sighed softly but slowly got up off the ground with a wince. Using this time to actually clean up a bit. He didn’t feel safe or comfortable changing in public eye. The sun was coming up now so it should be safe to go to the cafeteria to get something for breakfast. Maybe he’d see Roman again. Roman seemed trustworthy so maybe he could help a bit. He sighed softly before starting the trek up to the school, limping due to his twisted ankle.
Ro: Hey V
V: Shouldn’t you be in class?
Ro: I aaaaaam
V: Then why are you writing to me. You’re going to get in trouble
Ro: It's fine just wanted to say thanks anyway for earlier. I’ll talk to you at lunch V!
Patton sighs and shuts his soulbook after reading the messages. Looking over at the male who just shut his soulbook not even three desks away in red pen. Roman Kingston. Well there was a small chance it wasn’t him. But what if it was? What would that be like? Patton shook his head slightly to rid himself of that thought. No. He had a mission. He needed to talk to Roman about staying with him for a few nights until he found some other place. Then maybe he’d finally write to his soulmates. Hopefully they wouldn’t be too upset. He didn’t ever want to hurt them. Patton sighed softly and waited for the bells to ring.
When the bells finally rang Patton stood and walked over to Roman. He held one arm in a hand as he waited nervously. Roman seemed to light up at seeing him before pulling out a container. He pushed through the crowd to get to Patton with that brilliant smile that almost made his heart skip a beat.
“Patton! I’ve been looking for a time to give this to you. It’s mama’s recipe. It’s in thanks for the cookies yesterday,” Roman moved to hand him the cookies that Patton hesitantly took.
“Thank you. Can I ask a favor?” He asked nervously while holding the tin with two hands.
“Of course! What is it?”
“Can I stay with you for a few nights?”
“Did something happen?” Roman’s face dropped into one of concern yet seriousness.
“Yes… It won’t be long if-”
“Nonsense! You can stay as long as you like. Mama loves visitors. Just meet me and my… brother out by J wing.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive! I’ll text Mama later. I’ll talk to you later,” he smiles with a wave before leaving to his locker. Patton stood still for a moment with a smaller fonder smile. He pulls the cookies closer with a mutter of, “see you later.” He then walks out to head to class. One more block till lunch.
Three Written Loves Chapter 1
Romoxiety and Intruloceit soulmate au where you are given a notebook to communicate with your soulmates at 16. You cannot say your name, address, place of school/work, number, etc.
TW: Abuse, bad Christian views, threats of harm, homophobia, OCs
Fonts/Colors for the chapter from Google Docs: Virgil’s- Pacifico purple last dot  Roman’s- Pinyon Script red 4th dot
This chapter is Patton centric with the start containing Virgil and Roman writing to each other. Be safe
Ro: Veeeeeeeeee V: What? Ro: Soooo We have a new kid and he is just the sweetest little puff ball you could ever meet. V: So what? Ro: Now don’t be rude! He gave me cookies! I bet you’d like him! But he hadn’t talked to his soulmate(s?) all day! Maybe he could be our #3?
V: Not everyone has 3 soulmates it's also really rare
Ro: I knooooow. I can be hopeful though Moody B Moans. V: Don’t get your hopes up princey
Ro: I just feel like something/someone is missing…
V: Maybe...
Ro: But if so-
V: No. That’s my job. Might be situational?? Ro: Then I shall save him from his situation that holds him back from his true loves!
Ro: Hey! I can feel that eyeroll from here!
V: Whoops? I gtg. Driving
Ro: Awwww. Talk to you later V!
Patton put his hands to his eyes to keep the tears from falling onto the paper. They seemed still so much happier without him. They were so cute together. He had the book first but he never said hi. Usually he would be the first to say anything but it didn’t seem right then. It feels even worse now. He can’t. Not him. His parents would disown him. Not only was he gay but poly too! Why? They were nice… well seemed nice. Probably wouldn’t be when he finally wrote to them. Gosh… He had never felt more pathetic. His soulmates deserved so much better. If he could apologize without exposing himself he would.
Patton flinched at the loud sound outside. He couldn’t deal with it. No. No. Please. Not today. It’s not time yet. Please just a little more time. He didn’t want to get yelled at again and threatened for not telling them about his soulmates. If he told them it’d get worse. Spare the rod spoil the child so they say… He took some deep breaths and cleaned up a bit. Almost dinner. Then he can go do homework and go to bed. Any mark made by his parents wouldn’t show up for his soulmate. It had to be from him deliberately. A shaky breath as he plasters on a smile and that “Good Christian Boy” look. They were having company over. A nice family with a female child they were trying to set up their failure of a child up with. He had been told that over and over. The only problem was that she loved her soulmate. She called her soulmate sunshine but when talking about her soulmate she tried to avoid any pronouns by replacing it with the nickname. It was so cute! He wishes them all the best but he had heard that she would be going to “camp” so would he if he did or didn’t answer their questions. He was so scared. He hadn’t even told Megan about his soulmates. Part of him had hoped they’d move on and forget. Oh how he wished that was how it worked. No, they know somethings missing. They always will till they find him. That was a scary thought. If they found him at all. He can’t deal with that right now.
After a bit Megan and her family arrived. He didn’t even realize it until his father yelled his name across the house. Making him flinch again. He quickly ran down to his mother’s side. A plastered on smile as his mom placed an iron gripped hand on his shoulder to keep him there and obedient.
“Hello Mr. and Mrs. Willis,” Patton’s father greeted Megan’s parents, “make yourselves at home. Dinner is almost ready.”
“Well of course. I’m sure it’ll be scrumptious as always,” Mr. Willis responded before looking at Megan, “why don’t you and Patton go visit for a little while. We’ll call you when dinner’s ready,” Megan nodded in response before looking at Patton with a sympathetic look and heading to his room. The parents trusted them after all. Something he felt he would never get back when he told his parents about his soulmates.
“Remember Patton what we had talked about,” his father whisper hissed into his ear. He only nodded before he was released to follow Megan. He walks up to his room and shuts the door. Sliding down it with a heavy sigh. Megan having sat on his bed. She already had out her soulbook and was smiling at it. Something he felt jealous of, he didn’t feel happy. Was that normal? He felt that someone had written in his soulbook but he couldn’t look at it right now. Not with company. However he wouldn’t force Megan to talk to him. She seemed so happy. Like nothing could bring her down while she had her soulmate. That must be nice… He put his head in his hands for a moment. Taking some deep breaths to calm down. He was okay. They wouldn’t do anything with company here unless he really acted out which he wouldn’t ever do. Humming softly to himself the newest song they learned from church choir that was up beat enough to help. It didn’t really but hey he could still lie to himself that it did. What if he told them tonight? They wouldn’t “punish” him right? He’d get off scot free? Patton looked around his room for a second while Marget wasn’t paying any attention to him. Just to be on the safe side, he reassured himself. He got up and started packing a few things in a backpack. His soulmate journal and a pen hidden in the mess of clothes. His phone and other essentials in the front of the backpack just incase.
When they were called down for dinner Patton grabbed his two backpacks and set them near the door with a small sad smile. Marget had noticed what Patton was doing but didn’t ask any questions to bring attention to it. They had to do what they had to do. His parents sat at one end while Marget’s sat at the other. Marget and Patton were left facing each other in the middle.
“Let’s say grace,” his mom said with a small nod, extending her hands for her husband and son to take. A soft smile on her face. So unsuspecting. Patton swallowed harshly feeling as if the atmosphere was choking him. However he took his mom’s hand and Mr. Willis’ hand as well. Bowing his head and closing his eyes as if in prayer. No. He didn’t hear any of the prayer. His blood sounding too loud in his ears. Yet by some miracle he realized the end of the prayer and joined in the ending of, “amen.”
The families went silent as food was passed out aside from the occasional, “can you pass that this way please,” Patton having gotten a little bit of everything as to not look suspicious. He had been struggling with eating a bit but was slowly getting better with it. It was also hard to eat when fearful of the next thing that could happen.
“Patton?” He glanced up at his name, “Hm?”
“Are you alright sweetheart?” Patton cringed slightly at the nickname, “you just look a little pale.”
“I’m okay.”
“Are you sure? You haven’t touched your food,” now everyone was staring. Great.
“I’m sure. Just not very hungry.”
Seemingly satisfied with that answer she turned back to Mrs. Willis and continued their chat. He breathed out a soft sigh of relief before hearing his dad’s conversation with Mr. Willis.
“My boy will bring a nice young girl home.”
“I’m sure he will, Matthew. You’ve raised a nice strong boy to carry on God’s will,” Mr. Willis and his dad laughed while Patton internally cringed.
“Hopefully so John. I can only hope he stays in God’s light and continues to use what I taught him.”
“Amen to that Matthew. Amen to that.”
Patton tuned them out again. Eating as much as his stomach would let him handle for now. He didn’t know if he’d get another for a while. He sat back up straight after. Just in time for the daily question from his mother of, “have you heard from your soulmate?”
He took a deep breath which he could see the hopeful gleam in everyone’s eyes. He didn’t talk about his soulmate, “uhm… soulmaaaates…?” He tried to lay it down gently. The reaction was immediate.
“You are no son of mine! Get out! No better yet let me get-”
“No Matthew,” Mr. Willis grabbed Matthew before he could.
“My baby… my baby… he’s not.. He’s not…” Sarah, his mom, sobbed in Abigail’s arms. Everyone had become a stranger. Well except for Marget, “congrats Pat but you really need to go.”
Patton nodded frantically. Getting u quickly before grabbing his bag, “I’m sorry.”
“Get out!” At his father's last call of get out he bolted out the door. Tears stinging his eyes as he ran. He didn’t know where he was going but his body seemed to know where to go. Running as fast as he could first towards the woods to make them lose sight of him.
He stopped at a sturdy tree and leaned heavily against it while catching his breath. Sliding down it as he cried out and cursed out the Heavens above.
After calming down he said a quick prayer to repent his language towards the heavens and ask for forgiveness. Hugging his knees to his chest a moment and shivering. When did it get dark? And well cold? Slowly he forced himself out of his ball. That would get him nowhere even if it felt comforting. Patton stood shakily and started walking again. Something instinctual telling him where to go. Stumbling a bit in the dark. What time was it? Where was he going? He looked up at the stars. A soft smile at the peacefulness, “I am free.”
I Won't Surrender
Warnings: Unsympathetic Lights, Remus angst, Sympathetic Deceit (?)
Summary: Deceit had been accepted by the Lights and Thomas leaving Remus behind during a relationship. The lights don't let him see Remus. Inspired by: "If It's War You Want" by Fire Follows
He promised! Remus' hand hit the wall in a cry of frustration and loss. He promised! Remus threw a knife at the wall where old pictures were but didn't pierce them. He promised… Remus went over to one and held it close as tears brimmed his eyes.
It hadn't been a week since Deceit left. Remus went to where Deceit's room was before and it was gone! At first Remus thought he had just done it for privacy till he heard Deceit's voice in the light hallway talking with Roman of all sides! He was even laughing with him! His brother! The first one to leave him in the dark, scared and alone. That was the first hit from Deceit. This time Remus' own insecurities hit but then he remembered Deceit's plans and thought nothing more of it. Just humming to himself thoughtfully before going to his room again to come up with some more intrusive thoughts. Bats with knives instead of wings! Poison cookies for friends! Acid pool instead of water to swim in! Oh what a pool party that would be. A gore party with guts as balloons and streamers! That reminded him Deceit's birthday was coming up soon. But what to give him. What to give him.
Those plans ended the next day. Usually he'd pop in by now just to check in. Where was he? He never forgot. It's not that Remus didn't try to pop up beside him, he couldn't. He was being blocked. What was going on? Was Dee in trouble? Did they kidnap him? Torture him? Remus shook his head quickly. No way. Deceit would never let that happen. But he couldn't help himself from sneaking down to as far as he could to hear them. Popping in his favorite stuffed animal that replaced the comfort of a side as he listened into their "bonding time". Holding the animal close as tears fell.
No wonder he likes them better. He was the bad while Roman was good. Patton was fatherly Remus was nothing more than a child. Logan was orderly while he was chaos. Virgil held better conversation while he could only spew random bullshit from his pie hole. Deceit was classy while Remus was messy. He deserved better and he knew it. He jumped when he had the chance. But why did he make a relationship to just abandon it. Remus didn't understand. All he wanted was to be loved. Why did he have to suffer? Why was he cast aside? Why was he the unloved? Why can't he have anything good anymore? Why? The silence never answered. Remus put the picture back with shaky hands before going over to the bed defeatedly. Well if that's how things were going to be played so be it.
It had been weeks since anyone had heard even a peep out of Remus. To Deceit and Logan it was very troubling. He didn't just disappear. What was he planning? Remus never planned. What was he doing? Patton wasn't letting anyone even mention him unless it's to bring him down lower. The others were celebrating that he was gone. He would usually show up at the mere mention that he was gone just to throw it in their faces. What was going on? Logan and Deceit shared a look before looking at the stairs. Something was brewing and it wasn't going to be good.
As the days passed the two brain cells were getting more and more worried. Thomas still wasn't sleeping soundly due to Remy and Virgil but where were the intrusive thoughts. Even Thomas began to wonder where the intrusive side was. Nothing could prepare them for Remus' next attack.
It was finally time for the next video. Time for the next attack and the final. Remus knew he wouldn't be let back out after this. After attacking just one person while the others were busy. But he couldn't wait anymore. They'd know. He knew it. He was smarter than he let on. Remus gripped his mace tighter, a sick grin forming on his face as tears fell one more time. Or he hoped the last time. He had never felt so alone for those weeks of waiting. Hearing the laughter that seemed to ring through his ears for hours. He hated it. It needed to stop because it was louder than it should've been. They were torturing him and he knew it. Let's see how they like it.
Deceit was waiting in the light's commons. Everything happened so suddenly. He woke up one morning to knocking on his door with an unfamiliar set of knocks. They were cheerful. A nice cheerful not Remus' chaotically cheerful knocks. They were also quiet. Where was Remus? He kept asking about him until his attempts were silenced. Deceit shivered at the sudden cold. When did it become cold? He grabbed the nearby blanket and wrapped it around himself shivering. This wasn't right. What was going on? What he didn't notice was the shadows creeping closer.
As Remus stepped into the light side the air turned chilly. Of course it would. They always needed to know. Shadows following him with a fire behind his eyes as he snuck up behind the unsuspecting deceptive side. The shadows just like tentacles of their own, branching out and darkening everything they touch. He was sure the lights felt the chill. It wasn't enough to put Deceit to sleep but it was enough to make him sleepy and not want to move from his warm spot. "I'm sure they'll come to warm you soon," Remus thought bitterly as he stepped closer. The snake like side seemed to hear him as his head moved to see who it was through bleary eyes. He raised the mace with trembling hands. This was the man he loved. He was with for years. The one who held him and reassured him. The one who gave him physical affection and attention. The one who didn't shut him away. The one who promised to never leave. To be there always. To always come back. Promise breaker! Remus dropped it with a heavy heart whispering his recent favorite song's chorus. Deceit tilted his head, not hearing what was said so he spoke it louder.
"Shut up. I've so had enough. No this is not love! Why did I ever let you get so close?" Remus cried out before continuing, "The darkness finds me cause it knows how I escape. It overwhelms me. I can feel its cold embrace," his hands wrap around himself for effect before another outcry, "I don't remember how I ever called you friend! I won't surrender! If it's war you want I'm in," when he spat out the last words with a hurt anger the others heard it loud and clear. Remus sunk out before Deceit could reply at the words given to him.
The light sides sunk in right after and quickly started warming him up as the words sunk in. They did this. This would be an unfair fight. He would be destroyed or forgotten. Though he already was being forgotten. Deceit sunk out to his room quickly as he tried to regain composure. All those things he did for Remus to get him to trust again. All those years together washed down the drain. Remus probably believed he wanted nothing to do with him anymore. That's that hurt the most. Knowing your partner was suffering but unable to do anything. His breath hitched. No one would notice Remus' disappearance until Roman started getting Remus' thoughts. Another King Creativity. Would they shut Romulus out like they did Remus? Would he wake up so confused and alone just like Remus? Is that Remus' goal? To make them feel how he did? Or is he after the same acceptance Virgil and he got?
Remus stood in front of his shattered mirror with a small half smile. Ruffling his hair quietly as he thought of everything they might do to him for dare trying to hurt Deceit. Their newest precious member of their FamILY. It made him sick. Almost barfing rainbows sick to think of the FamILY. It didn't matter. It'd be solved soon. He kissed the tips of his fingers and pressed it to the cracked glass before doing the same to a broken picture on the ground. Over the course of those weeks his entire room had been completely destroyed along with his side of the imagination. Roman's side was already taking over his own. It wouldn't be long now. There were some secrets Patton couldn't repress and he was going to find out the hard way.
Deceit had to stop them before any of that happened. He couldn't let them. Not again. He bolted out of the room to see them lowly whispering to each other. Roman's hand on his sword protectively. Virgil's protective fight response triggered. And a hate he had never seen on Patton before. What had Patton done to them? He stood in front of the hallway of the dark sides with a harsher swallow when Logan looked up at him before shaking his head. This was going to be a long fight.
He sighed softly before grabbing his mace. Now or never. Would anyone really miss him? No one missed Romulus. Maybe he'd be the same. Remus took a breath and walked outside to yelling. Now wasn't this a twist? A figure blocked the others from walking to the dark side. Was it-? It was! But why? Slowly stalking forward while remaining in the shadows to see what was going on. The males in front of him shivered violently. Man wasn't that a sight. Not as much fun as a scream but he'd take anything he could get anymore. The one blocking their path was thrown to the one on the far left who held him down while Roman or who he assumed was Roman charged him with his sword. Remus grinned, it had been awhile since they fought like this. He blocked the sword with his mace before swinging to hit his brother's side. Roman moved out of the way just in time and sliced one of Remus' arms which made him laugh. The laugh confused Roman a moment giving Remus the chance to hit his calf and make Roman cry out in pain. Ironic how the light shines on them but will never shine on him. Remus grinned again. One more hit or one more connection, that's all it would take. Remus would be no more than a memory. Romulus would return and make everyone that much happier. Wouldn't they?
A loud thud resounded as Remus' mace hit the ground. He opened his arms as if embracing the next move. Eyes closed as he looked up at the ceiling even if they couldn't see it. Two voices resounded out from the ex dark sides in a distorted yell from one and a desperate cry from the other, "STOP!" Suddenly Roman did. Who for? Remus may never know. Both creativities painted heavily from their fight. The good turning to look at the anxious side and the lying side. The bad dropping to his knees with a shaky breath in a grin to hide the hurt. Why did he stop? Why did they tell him to? Either way it wouldn't stop what's going to happen. Roman stepped towards the two ex dark sides, keeping the blade away from Remus. So he caught on? When did they realize? When did he become so predictable?
The side holding Deceit turned the both of them to leave. Deceit struggled in his grip before headbutting them and running past the others to pull Remus into a constricting hug. Remus jumped a bit at the sudden touch before wrapping his arms around Deceit and breaking down. Tears staining the other's outfit while Remus wrapped his arms and legs around Deceit tightly so he couldn't be separated without a tremendous amount of force. Deceit softly rubbing soothing circles into his back as he glared at the sound of footsteps. Remus growled possessively and threateningly but they didn't back off. Instead a hand gently touched Deceit's shoulder. One he recognized as Logan before it was gone again.
"I'm so sorry."
"Don't leave me alone."
"I won't by choice."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"If it's a war they want."
"We're in."
"We won't surrender."
