Show Dany’s burning of KL has always been seen as a Mad Queen argument but I always thought of it as entitlement and rage emanating from that entitlement. The people of Westeros were supposed to welcome her and her armies, they were supposed to open their arms and open their forts up to the rightful ruler of their kingdom, they were supposed to vouch for her not be resistant to her rightful conquest, not attack her, provide her with what was hers all along, overthrow the usurpers in her name before she even came along. They were supposed to be on her side and they weren’t. They betrayed her. So she burned them and she took what was hers, with fire and blood. It wasn’t some of unreasoned madness but I feel wrongfully reasoned clarity.

i think there’s a really easy workaround for dany’s infertility and it’s that she should just do what i did in my silly female line post and pick the houses that have a female line claim and reach out to them. i think it shows very clearly that she’s not thinking about the good of westeros but only of her claim to westeros because while she thinks frequently of her infertility she doesn’t ever think about what the hell happens because of it.
and i hate the “dany’s infertility is a metaphor for her not thinking of the future” bc it’s ableist as all hell but it’s exactly the sort of thing that would appeal to george and i think it’s correct (same way the “bran the broken” nonsense is ableist but unfortunately correct foreshadowing). she could easily work around it by naming an heir through the female targ line!
a) it gets her allies in westeros and for all that she’s constantly thinking about going home she doesn’t try to reach out to any of the lords at all. her whole focus is on an army, not on making connections.
b) it might make her female line claim more palatable to the lords, if she can get a few on her side bc they have a similar (albeit way more distant) female line claim as well that might get their house on the iron throne
c) she can also make the argument that robert is doing the exact same shit bc the maesters used his grandmother rhaella targaryen’s marriage to ormund baratheon as proof of why he gets the iron throne. if he can claim female line inheritance, surely she can get fancy with it as well?
but none of this ever occurs to her. she doesn’t even show an interest in learning about westeros once she has power. when she meets barristan she doesn’t wonder at all about why he’s hesitant to talk of her family. she doesn’t ask jorah for more information on why aerys & rhaegar were overthrown. she knows viserys was delusional yet doesn’t ever attempt to unlearn anything he taught her. the smallfolk praying for viserys’ return is silly but for her it makes sense because she’s the mother of dragons - except the last time dragons existed in Westeros the smallfolk slaughtered them because they were constantly used to subjugate and terrorize people! why would they want her dragons back? why would they see her any differently than meleys blackfyre, a foreign invader with a foreign army threatening to upend their way of life?? her thoughts of westeros center on finding the red door and the lemon tree. it’s all about what westeros can do for her, that westeros can love her and give her a home, but she never thinks about how to make them love her! she just assumes it’s a given and it’s why i think she’s going to fail.

Why is it that anytime Jonsas consider the possibility of Jon slaying a dragon in metas or even fics, it is always a "dragon" 😉? If Jon is going to kill any dragons in ASOIAF (Which I doubt, seems too trope-y for GRRM, but who knows?) it should be an actual dragon, not an obvious-as-hell metaphor for an unarmed calls-herself-blood-of-the-dragon woman who has her defenses down because she trusts him, that is so lame. Lame and cowardly as hell regardless of how dark D@ny gets. If he ends up doing that then his shitty show ending fits, just as lame.
Like, you guys love gushing and talking about how "feral" he is going to be after the resurrection. Let's at least headcanon some truly feral shit. Imagine him slaying a dragon to protect/save Sansa because she has been kidnapped by D for political reasons and it is one of her dragons guarding her or some similarly corny guilty-pleasure shit (like, Jon slaying a beastly fire-breathing literal dragon, not an inbred t@ rg), that would be so cool. Love this old-fashioned trope.

Dark Daenerys, the biblical series
So, since it has become such a big hit (reaching the four parts) I've decided to dedicate a whole post only to the four parts which compose the small series of biblical-referenced metas about dark Daenerys and the possible parallels or foils between her and some figures of the Bible.
A premise is very much in order.
While being Italian and a catholic, I am in no way an expert on the subject of biblical studies, not beyond what I've learned during the formative years of catechism (and I was the catechist's terror, tbh) and eventual studies and researches I did in school (when we studied, last year of high school, the Paradiso — the third cantica of Dante's Divina Commedia — and later when I studied canonical law at university) and the researches I did for these posts (with infos that can be found on the net) so I do not presume to hold the truth of this matter, nor the truth of what can be found in the Bible as it is extremely layered and profound, filled with meanings lost to us due the change of time, culture and shifts in the beliefs from when the books were first written and interpreted, to now.
So, this whole series was born because I suddenly realised something I had known, but not connected with Martin's work, all along. I've had classical studies before university (I studied latin and greek and literature and communication — both medias and in books — and such) so my knowledge in these matters is pretty broad but also pretty superficial (unless I've done researches for each matter, like in this case, and I still claim not to know enough anyway) as my studies took then another direction when I chose my university.
Having studied latin, and the Divina Commedia, I was perfectly aware that Lucifero (the name of the devil after the fall) means ‘bringer of light’ (portatore di luce), but it took me a bit to remember that ‘lightbringer’ (the one who brings light) is basically the same thing written in reversal — I am not a native speaker, after all, so some hues of the language still escape me; so when I was casually scrolling on the dark Azor Ahai theories I was suddenly hit as if by a bolt by the realisation that his sword, the mystical sword supposed to bring the dawn was called exactly like Lucifer (lightbringer) and that many associated that with Drogon — Lucifer, btw, is considered to be connected with the star of the dawn (the Morning Star).
From thereon it was almost as fever, for I did the post and suddenly ever piece seemed to fit together like a glove. And I am in no way claiming that GRRM did this purposefully (tho he might have), nor to hold the complete and utter, absolute truth about this; but knowing he was raised a catholic and how much of a well read man he is, it is not unthinkable that he might have been influenced even on a subconscious level by the biblical figures. After all, all stories (especially epic ones) recur around the same kind of archetypes and characters — pariah, messiah, dark heroes, etcetera — which are the same that can be found in some passages of the Bible. I mean, if I — who am not as well read, but was raised catholic and did some studies on the matter — could reach this conclusion it is not out of the realm of possibilities that in someway this played some part in the characterisation of his beloved characters.
Another premise might be in order.
While I do believe Daenerys is en route to become the last standing villain, or be seen as such by the people and by those who will come after her, I do not think she's only clean-cut a villain. She's a charismatic character, with flaws and strong points — she's clever, funny and charming, she can be empathetic and she's strong; she can also be ruthless and cruel, she can be cold and turn her gaze away, she can be too singleminded — and I don't believe Martin has a clean-cut cartoonish characterisation of her descent into darkness in mind (like the one we got during the show); most probably it will be heart-wrenching and tragic, as it is supposed to be, as that is the way, it seems to me, this is about to go down. This is why, when I speak of Daenerys I always take into account both her young age, her traumas and her attempts to do good things, as well as her darkest traits.
But, as I am in no way an expert, I am always open to others, who know better (or simply have a differing opinion) to say their own on this matter because it's totally possible that I've missed some detail which may hint in a different direction, or that there are other things I may ignore and that may play a part as well; so any input will be greatly appreciated!
part one: il portatore di luce; lightbringer and Lucifer, the parallels between Daenerys (possible other Azor Ahais) and the biblical figure of Lucifer
part two: Daenerys and Christ — foils; why her message and actions are not the same as Christs
part three: Daenerys and the Antichrist — he who denies the Father and the Son (also why Daenerys does not fit the Great Deliverer thematic)
part four: is Daenerys using freedom the same way ‘Lucifer’ supposedly uses the notion of free will? in this we also dissect the real reason behind her ‘freeing the Unsullied’ and her campaign east.

Hi! I am not an expert in this historical era but I keep thinking about Dany’s “conquer legacy” and I wonder if anyone else gets Alexander The Great vibes from Dany’s story arc. Young attractive conquer with a massive army, conquering vast amounts of territory only for them to die young and the “empire” they conquered to pretty much dissipate quickly after his death.
Hi there!
In a way Alexander the Great is the archetype of the young charismatic (and brutal) conqueror in Western tradition and later conquerors like Caesar and William the Conqueror fashioned themselves after Alexander at least in part.
I'm not an expert on this period either but I think if you look closely you probably could find many parallels, like Dany's special horse, the fact that she uses the people she conquered in her own army, the forced marriages, the swift brutality and 'justice' etc. Knowing GRRM I'm quite sure that some of these parallels are deliberate, some might not be intentional, because the story of Alexander is such a massive heap of tropes so to say that it's hardly possible to avoid parallels if you write about a Conqueror.
One detail in the show was very interesting though: They showed Dany touching the ground of Dragonstone as soon as she had reached the shore, and this, this touching of the land they want to conquer is a conqueror's move so to say.
Thanks for the ask!

do you have any dark dany metas or villain dany metas?
There is a blog dedicated to dark dany:
Also this essay praised by GRRM himself:
Untangling the Meereenese Knot, Part IV: A Darker Daenerys
And some compilations of GRRM (and others related) quotes about Dany's future death and her fire bombing KL.
Chronicle of a Death Foretold
Queen of Ashes

Just read that D@ny analysis and i. love. it. It explains so well who she is and what did she came to be by the end of the Meereen Arc and symbolism of the side characters!!(and Drogon 🤭)
-Not same anon
And that's why GRRM himself praised that essay!

been trying to write my feelings out about how dany & robb play very similar roles as rulers (children who have really good intentions who choose the path of violent interventionism only to realize far too late that violence comes with its own set of consequences that they are not equipped to handle) because the more i read the more you can see that the oft insulted concept of the “pov trap” (and by insulted i mean insulted by non jonsas who tend to think any use of the concept means they’re Morally Wrong for feeling empathy when…buddy the point is you’re meant to feel empathy for them, no one is telling you that you’re a bad person it is completely your side projecting) is used for BOTH of them and the trap starts at roughly the same time. i wanted it to be vague enough that the valyrianscrolls people wouldn’t get mad if i put it in the tag but i might just go “fuck it” haha

Young Dragon Daereon Targaryen is based on Alexander the Great. We know what happen to him. I think Dany is going to have same fate of dying young and failed to conquer the Westroes.
Hi there!
Yes, I agree, she'll die and it is very possible that her attempt to conquer Westeros will lead to several independent kingdoms, just like the realm of Alexander fell apart after his death.
Thanks!

Ellie is technically Dan's older sister
So, because Dan is now inhabiting a Cloned Body, that means that he is technically now Danny and Ellie's Sibling.
And technically, the Clone was created and released after Ellie was, long after.
Meaning, Dan isn't the Grumpy Older Sibling. He's the Grouchy Baby Sibling.
Dan is the Youngest!
Imagine this in a typical Runaway AU, where the Batfam encounters this trio of Siblings. 2 of them are Teenage Boys who look almost identical, the other is a Girl who looks about 2 years Younger than them.
And then they introduce themselves like this...
Ellie: And this is our baby brother Dan!
Dan: I am literally 10 years older than you! I look the same age as Danny!
Danny: Really? Cause your DNA says you were born only 6 months ago, and Ellie is 12 months old, and I'm 15 years old, so who's really the baby here?
Dan: SHE IS! I'm the Oldest! I'm not a Baby!!!
Ellie: Sorry about him, he gets cranky when he doesn't get his nap :D
Dan: *sounds of incomprehensible rage*
Danny: Aw, he's having a little tantrum.
