So what i call magic in splatoon is less 'high fantasy bullshit' and more 'its all around and you don't notice it' like the post said (my example was electricity irl and how we use it rn for mundane stuff). It's all headcanon also btw but very supported by stuff from the games themself

List of stuff thats magic in splatoon in no particular order (ill go over these after): music, technology (human made especially), DNA, ink maybe?, salmonids migration, probably more but thats all i got (infodump under the cut)

SO music has been canon magic since splatoon 1 and actually its linked to the DNA part!! ,,,I probably need to explain human technology part first to understand that but it's basically all the Alterna logs basically.

Quick recap tho: the earth is fucked > some humans go live underground in giant domes all over the globe(unsure) > in one of them they devellop crystals out of molluscs like squids n octopus ability to change color based on emotions and use those to make giant LCD screens to line the dome > fast forward 2 generations of underground humans > the next gen scientists who want to go out even if thats a fucked up idea > rocket go poof n destroys the screen > the squid LCD crystals seep into the ocean n evolution happens for every creature to turn into anthros

also most impportantly the crystals retained the hopes of dreams of all of humanity down there* (important)

now fast forward 10 000 years and we find this scroll in splatoon 1

and that melody famously created a revolution by every single octarian realising they actually have free will at once (it did NOT break any kind of mind control they just lived all their live in an authoritarian society) so already we can tell theres something up with.

another time we find that melody thats important is the end credit for splatoon 3 (wave goodbye) at around the 3:00 mark

,,,now im realizing this isnt exactly what i had in mind but the first time i heard it i thought the voice had no gargling like inkfish voices n instead it was the voices of all humanitys ghosts coming together to sing that part. But if we still go with that then (my headcannon) that means that melody thats been etched into sea life DNA was actually a human anthem that was kept in the memories of the LCD crystal

Now in splatoon 3 theres a lot of magic anyway lol but idk how to even explain that (the 3 lights, lil buddy becoming a kaiju, big man making ink) so use ur imagination for that lol but its there.

Welcome to my little corner of the universe!! Happy to have ya!!

My name is Felix! Short for Felixian, long for Ian. You can call me any of the three, but I'm most used to Felix. I'm a trans guy who uses he/they/it pronouns!!

My persona (and IEYTD fan character) is Agent Felix! He's an agent-in-training with no handler, and is mostly working at solving stuff without using technology. He used to work for Dr Zoraxis in that field, not really caring if he got paid or not since he was doing what he loved. Eventually, he turned to be a reformed villain after hearing about Agent Pheonix's work. He's pretty gullible, and could switch back to the evil side if persuaded enough, but since he constantly wears an agency t-shirt he'll stick with the agency for a long time. (The agency knew they could manipulate him into staying for that reason.) He doesn't have a handler- in fact, he's been mostly self-training since everyone's kinda scared of him. (He has REALLY sharp teeth and can't bite anyone because of that. He has bit people in the past out of reflexes. He's working on it :D ) He's startled really easily and can barely remember simple things- he jumps at any loud noise, forgets where he puts his shoes, etc., yet somehow he remembers where people leave their stuff and forget. He's really helpful like that. He's always loved helping people, good or bad. He doesn't have telekinesis... yet. He's trying to replicate the kinesium device implant so it can be used for new agency members like him. He's also trying to figure out a safer, less terrifying way for it to be implanted.

By the way, if Felix hugs you then you are special to him in some way!! He loves hugs but is generally touch-repulsed UNLESS he really wants to hug the person. So it's really rare for him to hug anyone. Congrats to anyone he's hugged already!

-He's a teenager, but the agency has no idea. He was known by Zoraxis and his operatives as the Teen Prodigy. Sometimes used as a compliment, the rest of the time used as a spite name.

-Self-taught in everything he believes he needs to know- science, math, art, English and Spanish. Science includes all forms of science but mostly geology, technology and psychology. He loves researching mental disorders, for some reason. (Some of the things listed were taught by Zor himself.)

-He also loves playing piano! He overheard someone playing it when he was about six years old and managed to convince them into giving him lessons.

-He's very sensitive to sound so it's likely that if an alarm goes off he'll just be stuck there covering his ears.

-He loves singing, too! His voice is high-pitched and gives him disphoria pretty massively, so he sings to relieve it. (He loves his singing voice!)

-The Death Engine actually traumatized him. He refuses to talk about it :')

-He's very weather-sensitive. As soon as it gets colder than usual he'll be wearing clothes for winter while it's only fall. He'll keep that outfit for a few months then switch to something less heavy. Same for summer- as soon as it gets hot he'll be in short sleeves and shorts, maybe flip flops if it's 5⁰ above normal. Samus Aran's visor sliced through the spectral fog like a lightsaber through butter. The derelict spacecraft, long since swallowed by the nebula's inky embrace, pulsated with a discordant melody of groans and whines. Her Power Suit hummed to life, its emerald green glow a beacon in the swirling oblivion. The distressed signal that lured her here throbbed like a dying heart, beckoning her into the belly of the beast.

Her boots crunched on the frost-encrusted deck, the metallic clang echoing eerily in the void. The ship, dubbed the "Echoes of Sorrow" by some long-forgotten pilot, was a graveyard of technology. Rusted consoles littered the bridge, their screens frozen in an eternal scream of static. Twisted wires snaked like skeletal fingers, and the hum of the ship's dying life support felt like a chorus of phantom murmurs.

The distress signal, however, wasn't the only anomaly. Whispers slithered on the edges of her helmet's audio feed, wispy voices singing dirges in languages long dead. Holo-projections flickered to life, showing fleeting glimpses of terrified faces contorted in silent screams. It felt like the ship itself was haunted, its metallic bones echoing with the ghosts of its final moments.

Suddenly, a guttural screech ripped through the spectral symphony. A grotesque creature, vaguely insectoid but grotesquely elongated, scuttled into view. Its chitinous armor gleamed with an oily sheen, and its compound eyes glinted with predatory hunger. Samus, the seasoned hunter, met its gaze with steely resolve. But more scuttlers joined the dance, their chittering forming a grotesque counterpoint to the whispers. Samus weaved through their attacks, her Power Suit a whirling ballet of emerald death. Each fallen creature left behind a lingering residue, a spectral echo that merged with the ship's mournful dirge.

Deeper she ventured, into the decaying heart of the Echoes of Sorrow. ⋆｡ﾟ☁︎｡⋆｡ ﾟ☾ ﾟ｡⋆ sushang was, at first glance, probably the least likely to be the type who'd jump on the same chaotic antics as you. given that she's training to be a respectable cloud knight, she seemed like the kind of person who would rather keep things straight and proper, but that definitely was not the case. she finds you very interesting and befriended you almost immediately. she's the type who also likes to ramble a lot about her day, so expect a lot of back-and-forth talk between the both of you! the both of you take turns with the dynamic of "talks a lot / listens a lot". sushang also seems to be the type who would engage in a playful banter with you outside of her duty. as a partner, sushang is very loyal; she probably acts most like a golden retriever around you: eager to cheer you up and help you out in any way. it's a common occurrence that the both of you hype each other up and jump up and down. though she can seem a little naive at times, often ending up misunderstanding some things, she's a very honest person and definitely demonstrates her affections through acts of service. she likes helping people out, but she places you at the top of her priority list. did i mention that she really loves your sense of fashion? sushang even ropes you into a shopping spree on one of her days off duty just to hear you talk about your fashion style, your choice in clothes, and take notes. sushang knows how it feels to get chastised constantly, so she never tells you off when you continuously ramble on and on.

⋆｡ﾟ☁︎｡⋆｡ ﾟ☾ ﾟ｡⋆ jiro was not the type to fuss himself over crushes, but boy does he crush over you hard. it's a funny scenario because you always seemed to glow whenever you're in your element, rambling about that new interest you had just cultivated. jiro is just a hopeless idiot, that he actually ends up approaching ichiro on what he should do. for a rather straightforward guy, he stumbles on his words when talking to you — which amuses saburo to no end, but the both of you end up having a really tight friendship, so ha, jiro wins the roulette of life for once. as a partner, jiro is the type of guy that's like "actions speak louder than words". he's a little slow when it came to all these romance stuff, considering that you're likely the first partner that he's ever been with, but he does his very best to treat you with the most care and respect ever. jiro likes hearing you talk about your day as he finishes up his homework, before the both of you decide to go on an after school hangout. he also idolizes his older brother, so at some point, expect that he probably would imitate the bravado of ichiro to impress you, but he realizes that it would probably be the best to stick to being himself. one of your common dates is to the arcade, where the both of you engage in a lot of friendly banter. jiro has the worst luck so he always gets beaten by you, but he'd go to the arcades every day with you if he could. if the both of you are too busy to head to the arcade, he invites you to the yamada residence and you guys play video games together.

⋆｡ﾟ☁︎｡⋆｡ ﾟ☾ ﾟ｡⋆ ace found you to be quite similar to him, so it was a quick first meeting where the both of you hit off almost immediately. cue riddle just groaning because now he has to deal with two people who acted like trappola. both of you would definitely banter ... like a lot. ace likes you very much, but it takes him time to actually realize the extent of his feelings. like ... this guy would probably say something like "haha, yeah, i'd love to hold joey's hand just so he won't get lost in the crowd" and every member of heartslabyul is just wondering how realization hasn't hit him yet. he feels so comfortable with you but when he does realize, ace starts acting more bashful and nervous around you because it's a new thing to him! as a partner, ace is someone who would make each day an exhilarating surprise. expect your dates to be very different from the previous; he likes setting the bar high and even higher, just as a way to show how much you mean to him. since he's also part of the basketball club, a scenario of ace dedicating a shot to you definitely happened. something along the lines of "this one's for you" with a wink, before completely missing the shot like the idiot he is, but the thought is there! ace makes sure to spend a lot of quality time with you when he can; he's not the best person to rely on in helping you with your work, but he'd probably crack the worst jokes so that you wouldn't feel stressed about finishing your daily tasks. the both of you would also walk around the halls of nrc after class, just catching up on each other's days.

Helluva Boss S2EP1 review (and rewrite for Stolas and Stella)

Hello everyone! Man, it’s been a while! I’ve been doing okay recently. Mostly been on discord with @the-man-behind-the-mask1989 and a few other friends of mine!

But besides that, I’m going to make a pretty short review on the recent Helluva Boss episode.

I talked with @the-man-behind-the-mask1989 about the episode for a bit, I liked it at first. I thought it was interesting for this entire episode to be, essentially an origin story for Stolas (and Blitz). But then I thought about the episode some more and I realize now…I think the episode is kinda mid.

Stella could’ve been given a lot of character development when it comes to her and Stolas…but I didn’t like how the show made her into a one dimensional bitch. I really hate how they made Stella always act this way towards Stolas for nearly 30 years. Because not only does that make her character have no depth, but it contradicts her hiring Striker. She hired him because she didn’t like that Stolas cheated on her…but in this episode she always hated him? What?

And I know where the whole show is going to go from here. They’re going to introduce her brother into the mix and point out that he is the reason for why Stella is a bitch. And Stolas is most likely joining I.M.P.

So I’m going to give you guys a rewrite. My own version on how Stella and Stolas met, and a bit on Stella’s character after Stolas cheated on her. Along with the setting of Hell and the way my hierarchies work:

 I want Helluva Boss’s Hell (including Hazbin) to run more like a kingdom with some use of modern day or futuristic technology thrown into the mix. Since with the kingdom aspect, there’s so much royalty and demons with powers beyond any comprehension.

In my version, there’s two separate hierarchies. There’s the Ars Goetia one and the one where Lucifer is on top, along with the overlords, so on and so forth. The reason why there are two separate hierarchies is because the Ars Goetia want to prove to all of Hell that they can be on top of the chain without having to work with the overlords. (Let’s just say the family and the overlords don’t get along)

With how Stella and Stolas met, Paimon (like in the episode) set his son up for an arranged marriage because they need their kingdom to be strong. But this time, instead of Stolas being a kid, he’s a young adult. He goes to a ball and he gets to choose his wife. He hasn’t found anyone he likes. After the ball…Stolas stumbles upon Stella by complete accident and it’s like, instant fireworks. I want to make this scene into a fairytale, to show the audience that they were legit in love before…before Stolas cheated on her. Stolas sings a song to Stella (about them falling in love, I’m thinking of using a real strong like “On the street where you live”)

A few years go by and they’re so happy together. Especially with Octavia being born. But then a few more years pass by and Stolas is not as happy. There’s too much responsibility for him with the Ars Goetia…and he realizes that being a prince takes too much work and he’s too stressed out. When he meets Blitz later on while he’s at a park, the two talk and Stolas without thinking, kisses Blitz.

AI art thoughts

Thinking about the AI artist thing (that’s apparently been going on on Twitter?) because it popped up in a discord server.

People seem to be asking the wrong questions. “Is this art?” is a fundamentally unenlightening question because some people use ‘art’ to mean “creative work that evokes good emotions/thoughts; an aspirational goal” and some people use art to mean “work that challenges perceptions; a neutral description.” People can talk in circles around each other all day and never get further when art means “good” for one party and “a thing that exists” for the other party.

Human component, creativity, beauty, etc...these are things that can’t easily be quantified and there’s at least a good century’s worth of people labeling infamous artworks as “not art,” so if you want to wade into that discussion, I’ll point people to Marcel Duchamp’s Readymades and maybe throw in a dash of Worhol and the Pop Art movement, and while we’re at it, let’s add debates about photography’s status as art/an artistic medium and why not add the camera obscura in as well.

Long story short, art is not fundamentally different from technology at a splitting-hairs level. Selecting pigments requires technical knowledge. Representing one thing in a symbolic way is a kind of invention (and I’m talking even at the basic level of ochre paints in caves or the invention of speech. Not that those things are basic, but that “technology” feels like a complicated thing but everything was new once). I can make music on a piano and maybe that stirs the soul but at the end of the day I’m also pushing buttons to move levers and strike strings. Any kind of music that’s not singing wordlessly involves a technology. Any art that’s not prop-less, shoeless dance requires manipulation of the physical world and requires some kind of technical knowledge. You’re not going to answer any AI debate by an appeal to “machines invalidate art!” because a paintbrush is also a technology and there’s no commonly accepted metric for the existence of souls.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t meaningful questions or statements to be made about AI-generated images if we lay aside the “is this art?” statement. I think we should also stop pretending that Art is/should be above the influence of Soulless things like Money and Politics because I’m pretty sure money and compensation has been part of the debate for longer than the English language has existed. Instead, I propose questions such as:

Who is the artist? (Who do I consider to be the artist, who does my society consider to be the artist, and who does that definition include or exclude? Why? Who thinks one thing vs. another/what are the competing interpretations? What are the societal implications of that judgement?)

Is this exploitive? (yes, next question)

Under what conditions? (complicated answer involving consent and unintended consequences)

Who should be compensated? How?

Will this restructure professional creative industries? (yes)

How? (similar ways that it has in other industries; cutting out a swathe of workers by automating their jobs, reducing ‘grunt work’ like generating tens or hundreds of images for a customer who will only pick 1 or 4 of them and shifting the focus of the profession to other avenues, much like the advent of computer calculation and computerized databases has drastically reduced the time it takes to run statistical analyses and has shifted the focus of research to generating better datasets and freed resources to other avenues while also (probably) reducing overall opportunities in the field; probably a bunch of other foreseen and more than a few unforeseen consequences as well)

Who benefits and who suffers from the increasing use, commercialization, &/or legitimization of AI-generated images? Who is considered expendable and who is considered worth protecting? Who may be targeted by it? By whom?

Which subjects will likely be promoted by this technology? Which subjects will be restricted? How? Why? By whom? What response is needed?

What is required for this technology to function? Where are the people involved? What ecological and economic resources? What response is needed?

What are the legal ramifications of this technology? Who will have access to codified state protection in theory? In practice? What about access to community protection? Professional protection? What response is needed?

What movements or technology is this similar to in the past, and how have people responded to it? How is it different? How are contemporary responses similar &/or different to historical responses? What effects did past technology/art have on society, and what can we learn from that impact?

Is it moral to continue refining/developing/selling AI tech to generate words/images?

Is it moral to use AI to generate images etc., and under what conditions?

Is it moral to purchase AI-generated images etc., and under what conditions?

Do the socioeconomic implications of AI work change my/our reaction to it? What does that mean to me/us? What conclusions is my community sharing with me, and how can I learn from it? What conclusion do I wish to share with my community, and what do I hope they will learn? How do these exchanges of experiences change our preconceptions?

Knowing the above questions, how should we/I approach AI-generated images? Who disagrees? Why? How should we engage with them?

Should we/I continue to support it or should we limit it? In what forums? in what forms? How should we support it or limit it? Individually? Socially? Professionally? Legally and if so, at what level and by which branch of government?

In other words, “is this ‘art’ or not?” is honestly a dead end and that shows in the discussion by the evidences people bring up to support their point (the “it’s art” people bring up how it’s similar to things commonly considered art, and “it’s not art” usually bring up things like Soul or Human Expression but also a lot of human socioeconomic concerns for Actual Artists and how we value them).

A lot of people saying “AI-generated images are not art” mean “AI-generated images are not good (for us)” and I think that the above questions offer more specific ways to ask and answer that question.

The new Miraculous film is actually alright

I didn't have high standards for this film originally. I put the release date on my calendar, but forgot about it as I didn't care all that much. However, today I was too tired to do much so I decided to give it a watch.

First thing is the animation. It's better than the show's, but there was a missed opportunity to redesign the characters to look less like they were just concept art for a final character. Chloe's hair looks like it was dunked in olive oil and was never washed out. Another thing I noticed is that Marinette always seems to be wearing some sort of earrings, which confused me as her disguised miraculous looks exactly the same as the earrings she wears at the start of the film and when she takes them off halfway. I hope they did what Jimmy Neutron did and reuse the film assets for the next season of the show. The camouflaged state of the butterfly miraculous looks so tacky! The creepy basement has been redesigned to replace the lift with stairs and the capsule with generic flowers. The school's been redesigned to look less modern and for some reason, both Marinette and Adrien now have analogue watches. Also Adrien has a phone with 1 camera and uses wired earphones. I imagine it's trying to do what the show did, by keeping all the technology from 2015 as that's when season 1 came out (the only contradicting point being the English news reporter from the season 5 finale said "God save the King", which implies this takes place in 2023 or later). It would be weird if Adrien didn't have the latest tech considering he's supposed to be rich and all. However, Alya's phone looks more like a modern phone due to the fact there's no buttons on the screen side and no bevels. Is she a time traveller?

The voice acting's fine. Something I didn't realise at first, is that this film is a musical. The songs are so damn cheesy and whenever they would play, I would open up discord and look through my unread messages while tuning out the generic songs about not being worthy, love, being a villain, etc. Marinette's singing voice is different than her regular voice and it's really noticeable. Nooroo's voice changed and I really don't like it. I like the scared and high-pitched voice that they had in the show as it gave the impression that Nooroo was terrified of being used for evil (possibly because a similar thing happened to them before), but had no choice and just had to obey. Fortunately Nooroo's a minor character in the film so I don't have to hear that out of place mystical mature voice much.

The music is just generic Disney style cinematic piano stuff. Careless Whisper (or as I call it: the sexy saxophone song) plays twice in the film. Why. Why would you unironically put a meme song in a film?

Now the writing. Oh the writing.

Spoilers here (I go over the ending and important plot points):

First off: this takes place in this alternate world where Marinette is unpopular and weird and Adrien has been at this school for a while now. I like this take as it's similar to season 1, but does a better job at Marinette's character arc. How they meet in this universe is by the library. Also Marinette's not a creepy stalker in this universe, and can actually talk to Adrien enough to ask him to go to the prom thing. Again I like this take as instead of her following him around for 4 seasons before he eventually confesses his feelings, she gets to know him better and they become friends via the help of Alya and Nino. Also when Alya saves Marinette from being publicly humiliated by Chloe, that was a better transition into them becoming friends then how it was originally with them meeting by just sitting together in the same class.

It was annoying how we never got to see Adrien's reaction to finding the miraculous. He finds this cat, didn't question how it got through his window when his room's on the 1st floor, cat turns to ring, then it just cuts and the next time we see him he's cat noir. Meanwhile Marinette freaks out over realising she's the chosen one. She never calls herself Ladybug in her introduction, but people start calling her that as they're all really unoriginal when it comes to name. Cat noir fights the enemy like he (somewhat) knows what he's doing, but Ladybug has absolutely no idea and is acting very clumsy. Something that annoyed me about the original origin story, was that Master Fu just met them 2 and decided that because Marinette gave him a macaron, then she would be a good Ladybug. In this version, Marinette saves his life by pushing him out of traffic, and the kwamis decide who their holders are by destiny or something. There's a couple missing features from the show:

Her magic ladybirds don't activate by her throwing the lucky charm. She figures out how to activate them in the end of the film by moving her arms around.

They don't de-transform after 5 minutes after using their power.

There isn't a manual in the stick and yo-yo (that would be a bit overpowered though).

They don't seem to break the akumatised object, the akuma seems to fly out of it after.

The suits can be damaged by attacks but they can't in the show. Towards the end, Cat noir and Hawk moth have a battle and he rips half of Cat noir's mask off. They also don't seemed to be affected by the magic plot device introduced in United Heroes that makes humans not question why the superheroes look so similar to Marinette and Adrien; Hawk moth realises that Cat noir is Adrien and oh my god that scene was written like it was a fan-fiction I would upload here. Personally I would make the backstory scene a lot darker (although something to note is that in the show, Emilie's death was a lot more recent than in the film) and have Cat noir actually manage to cataclysm Hawk moth (like in season 5 episode 3) instead of the Eiffel Tower (even though that was really cool too) just because I'm so curious how that conversation would go if he knew he essentially killed his own father. I was laughing in that entire scene so loudly that my brother messaged me on discord from the room next door asking if I was having a stroke. I was laughing so hard that I could barely hear what they were saying, and I was more focused on why Gabriel's eyebrows are shaded so tackily.

There's no akuma alert on their phone, they detect danger by their miraculous glowing. Better concept imo.

Ladybug doesn't use her lucky charm in the entire film. Cat noir uses his cataclysm so why doesn't Ladybug use her power? This doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, Marinette finds out that Adrien likes someone else when she asks him to go to the prom (that isn't described as a prom, but essentially that's what it is) and he rejects her saying that he likes someone else. Well, Hawk moth figured out much sooner in the film that he can akumatise himself and become really OP with a crap ton of butterflies. That version of him reminds me of Dr Robotnik when he gets the Master Emerald in the second Sonic film as he controls his power in a similar way. He drags the earrings out of Ladybug's ears and doesn't put them on? Instead the miraculous of the ladybird goes directly into the butterfly miraculous and it fuses that way. No different form though. So anyway, Marinette is on an island because from what I remember the place was flooded, but her island was separated from the one with Hawk moth and Cat noir. She finds out that Cat noir is Adrien, but the others are too busy having a mental breakdown that they don't notice her 4 metres away. At the end she tells Adrien that she's Ladybug in the cheesiest way. This was at the prom, Adrien's sad that he's never going to see Ladybug again because Hawk moth's been defeated and he knows that Ladybug isn't interested in becoming a couple; so he's next to a tree outside the venue. Marinette finds him and then this really cheesy scene plays that I can't really explain but it would have been better if she just asked why he was sad and then Adrien would be vague, but mention something about never being able to see his crush ever again. Marinette would mention that it's because he likes Ladybug, and because he's Cat noir, the only time they meet is when they're saving the day from akumatisations. He would act startled but that's when Marinette would mention that she's Ladybug, and that he doesn't need to worry. Marinette in the original scene is too vague.

Plagg deserved more screen time: he only appeared in 3 scenes, 2 of which involved him eating cheese. It's such a shame as Plagg's my favourite character from the show. The charm from his original character's been watered down and because he barely features, he never gets to make up for it.

Yeah essentially that's my thoughts. I prefer this universe over the universe of the show as this one makes more sense writing wise. It's not perfect, but it's not too bad. I quite enjoyed it but I feel like it could do with a bit of polishing to make it really shine. I'm not sure what direction the show's going with Lila being the new villain, but this film was definitely a better version of the Hawk moth arc due to it's smaller scale.

You can watch it on Netflix (I think) or some random piracy website that I used called miraculous.to. Use chrome though as the video buffers like mad on firefox.

The streaming session of the KinnPorsche world tour I was participating in kinda fell off the rails during the English version of Why Don’t You Stay, which was very sad. Hopefully it turns out okay for the rest of it tomorrow.

My thoughts in no particular order:

Dang, Slot Machine is awesome and I should go look them up. (We amazed a random discord member who randomly wandered into the stream about Mile having previously been just a filthy wealthy dude that played the guitar)

Oh my goodness, Jeff!!! Said multiple times, by multiple people.

The VegasPete scene was chef’s kiss. Gonna wax dance show critic here but Bible has some amazing physicality and charisma. Like I’m pretty darn ace and I still can tell that he’s hot and does amazing work as Vegas. I’m in the middle of episode 10, so I haven’t fallen headlong for Pete/Build yet…but it’ll probably happen.

So highly amused that Barcode made up for the clothing deficit amongst everyone else singlehandedly. Pretty sure I missed the main brouhaha about the song he performed to, but nobody mentioned it was a cover of a Blackpink song! I love Blackpink!!!

The chat punched the air when Tay slapped Time. It’s possible to do polyamory ethically. Whatever Time’s deal is…isn’t it. On a sidenote: more Tay centric fics please.

I was highly amused that the mom got a sarong for her little thing with Chay/Barcode. The subtitles were on a horrendous delay, so I don’t actually know what all went on, but it’s cute that she was momming him.

As for the KimChay…I don’t quite see how that ending was horrible? Slightly more open ended than it could have been. But the flipside of forgetting the bad times is remembering the good ones. Obviously there were some good times or else Chay would not have been devastated by Kim’s betrayal. And…then there were technical difficulties and we had to stop the stream in the middle of Jeff’s performance. So that was lame. But Jeff did a good job before technology decided to pitch a hissy fit.

I concur with the person that said they hoped Jeff had gotten cleared to sing by a doctor. I’ve only listened to a few of his live performances and I could tell his range was a little rough. Don’t let them force you back into singing before your vocal cords have healed!!! That’d be awful if you permanently damaged them.

Anyway. Looking forward to the final half and all the Magic Mike bits.

🍂 leaves: what does your editing process look like? how does your wip typically change as you work on it?

whenever I work on a wip it goes through several stages:

First there is the head theatre stage, which is basically me repeating scenes and stuff in my head, pretty vividly, over and over again until it clicks and makes sense to me

This is followed by the notebook stage, where I write by hand, slow and methodically, having braces in between text sometimes with a rough idea of what should belong there

Then there's the first digital stage, which often is the final stage. I break out the tab or sit down on my puter and type, and type and type, correct shit, type again, type some more and at some point I sit there with a rough chapter.

Buts (!) there is a expection to this, and that is the nowadays rare occasion of a muse smooching me so hard I type up a whole chapter in detail in one or two sessions.

sometimes on stream over discord for people I hold dear, but that's another story 👉👈

tbh I got a fuckton of OC's 😅, so I'll just go with the one I threw into the world of Ao3 (in terms of animexx, there is no animexx), as well as the three main girls of an original story that spans over several millenia :3

Marlianken (Overlord OC): Girl is the workaholic to end all workaholics, so to get her to relax in the first place is challenging, to put it mildly. But when she does (get beaten to do so, hehehe), she goes mostly for a classic, which is a hot bath, a glass of wine and a good book.

Delilah: She's very old. Like old old. To the point where 'modern' technology confuses or downright scares her. Also she already lives in the asscrack of nowhere, so her days are pretty calm to start with and she makes a point of pacing herself. But if she needs to calm down, she strolls out into the woods around the village she lives in. In rainy weather at best, cause less people :3

Diane: the most broken character I ever wrote tbh ... she's blind, has a weak heart and is the kind of chosen one that never wanted all of that bull in the first place and is very salty about people just kicking back, letting things get so far south they might as well end up north again while waiting for her, and her siblings, to be born. Her parents are dead, her lover too and she still needs to come to terms with the fact that fullfilling the prophecy made her immortal, so she will lose her siblings to old age some day too. So whenever she needs to relax, she goes for a hard shutdown; which includes noice canceling headphones, a hammock seat and music loud enough to drown out her own thoughts. Maybe a tee and fuzzy socks too ... if it's cold enough

finally, Vanessa: she grew up extremly sheltered, raised not by her parents, but her ancestors, who treated her like their own kid. For the longest time she was the madeningly happy sunshine child you'd expect to come out of this bubbled, loved uprising. That all changed with the day she learned that she's basically unkillable. Now whenever she needs to relax, she lays down in her bed, darkens the room and plays an recording from her childhood, where two of her ancestors sing a calming tune.

Car Crash -- eaJ (Genre: Pop)

This song is the definition of confusion but unconditional love and it hurts. It's a fairly toxic relationship if you think about it. (Platonic for sure, but the song seems to be indicating a romantic one.) There's a lot of leading on and backtracking, but the vocals are amazing. I love eaJ, he's grown as an artist for sure. This song kinda reminds me of his relationship with the music industry. Led on and then recalled until he broke away.

Pager -- Lyn Lapid (Genre: Pop)

Ah, Lyn's voice is like a breath of fresh air. I love listening to her sing and Pager is one of my favourite songs from her. It's pretty funny if you look at the lyrics-- she's essentially telling people to back off and stop needlessly criticising/shaming her. I'm quite fond of the fact that she'll get back to haters later, and appreciate the use of an older piece of technology, like a pager.

LMLY -- Jackson Wang (Genre: Alt-Indie)

I remember showing this to my mom and we had one consensus. The 80s. It's such a sad and sappy love story that you can't help but fall in love with it. Jackson has a unique ability for storytelling in a way that feels incredibly personal. The entire vibe of the song is immaculate, and I'm really happy with how he titled it-- "Leave Me Loving You" is way too long. LMLY is short and sweet. Plus, I can say "Lemley" when referring to it.

beside you -- keshi (Genre: R&B)

It wouldn't be a list without keshi. Moving beyond the fact he actually broke this song down line by line, (you can find that here), he's actually painted a very vivid image of taking a breather. Not everything has to be about intimacy, and I for one, enjoy solid platonic relationships. I know some parts of the song very clearly have tension, but looking at it with a platonic eye, it can be interpreted as making a friend and genuinely needing comforting. Life is BUSY for sure, and sometimes I just need a hug. Plus-- not all friendships are healthy or work out.

Vietnamese Coffee -- Brandon Win (Genre: R&B)

This is a one I'm betting most people won't know. I actually only discovered this song recently and got to hear it in a Discord VC. I like it-- it's a cute love song for a girl. It's very raw and genuine-- Brandon does a great job singing it too. It's one of my favourite chill beats songs and I'd love to help this guy get more exposure cause he's super talented.

Hello! My name is Kasey, I’m a senior in college (studying animation), and I’m super baby on tumblr. Donald Duck is literally my favorite character of all time (I wrote an entire essay about his history for a class). He’s surprisingly complex, particularly in the DuckTales series so I wanted to make a  blog for him! Here’s just a brief look at what you can expect from him :333

A very good friend who is into porter robinson encouraged me to listen to some of their tracks. so i typed down what my thoughts are on each one as i did so. i do not claim to have a good judgement on how to analyze music. but i know what myself knows. mostly his album my friend considers his best, Worlds. with the mv/visualizers on youtube. 

divinity- nice hype beat to start off, before it gets mellow. then the mellow intensifies as vocals come in, and it results in a more triumphant tone. i'd say this is a sanguine track. it certainly feels uplifting.

  sad machine- an even more retro sound to start off. the official lyric video definitely makes the lyrics obvious. a duet between an electronic voice and a natural voice. is this outstretched hand motif a positive seeker, or a desperate grasp? depending on others is not the best. it is entitled sad machine, its not idealistic. but the final image of two hands holding eachother is presented positively.  

years of war- i like what seems to be screaming as a focal point of the track. these songs all have a drop, not as big grand moments like a stereotypical skrillex or whatever, these are good drops.

  flicker- i listen to a lot of japanese pop despite not studying japanese often. the visuals in its video are like AR. karl pilkington predicted that. also reminds me of serial experiments lain. i'll be rewatching that sometime. technology is taking over, even in the rural areas. there is a lot of corruption, and some danger. but it would make the world better if done well.

  fresh static snow- simple guitar strumming then shifting to the electro bzzts. quite a variety of bzzts and bzzps ya cant hate that. i understand now the image of the hand clenching a cube, thats definitely of the humanity holding Technology with care. the default cube of blender. another track with a triumphant tone.

  polygon dust- glitchy intro to a classic drum to nice who i suppose is lemaitre. soft headbangs to this. wanna say that this track does help continue the overall tone of the album, but yeah has not impressed me with new things. its not a pop radio style, but it is a spotify pop style. i can bet i have heard this as i let spotify play an edm, indie pop, etc playlist.

hear the bells- is this a duet throughout? dont usually hear that. almost a choir singing. like an orchestra in instrumentals midpoint. or a church organ when they let the piano guy go with full gusto. well church organ, orchestra, or electronic, you wont hear this on the radio. maybe electronic, depends.

  natural light- that very start reminded me of the menu theme of sonic mega collection. i thought of how it was a bunch of disconnected sounds before the yell breaks out and the different instruments come in. but it continues having that choopy style, with even the vocal being sliced. another moment of calm at the end. didnt notice it was a short 2 minutes. but i like it. moments of tranquility, but some moments of discord.  

lionhearted- ooh fleshy people on camera. and starts off high impact with the music, as this group of gentlefolk gear up with their own instruments. vandals, but for striking electronic visuals into the cityscape. they will make the technology connect to humanity no matter what. this track is named well, makes me want to be lionhearted.

  sea of voices- and after the impact of lionhearted, the windchimes bring the choleric back down to sanguine. then rises back up to somewhere in the middle. still calm but once again at a triumphant tone.

  fellow feeling- a violin start. its a rather lonely feeling. but shifts to a hot mood with vocals, a hard instrumentation. back to the violin. this is a good example of a journey. i appreciate the mix of classical, with electronic, with i suppose metal.

  goodbye to a world- mmhmm. end of a virtual world. ive been there. the reality i lived as a kid will not be able to be relieved at this moment, the internet is not the same. but its not the listener's fault. suprising runescape old and new are still kicking. though in the deep corners of my mind there should be ones im forgetting are gone. yeah. toontown, i think wizard101 is still on, pirate101 is, apparently, fusionfall.

it is a good album, this stuff does more than what most similar artists do that i’d hear just letting spotify autoplay.
