If anybody was wondering like I did, the transformation song in "Brother Bear" had deep meaning.

Splash mountain shouldn't be rethemed to go with Princess and the Frog. If they were absolutely determined to make a Tiana themed ride at Disney world, they should have built a restaurant with a connected river ride like the Mexico pavilion at Epcot.
Splash mountain's retheming should have been based on Brother Bear.
And as you climb the part before the big drop you get the northern lights spooling out around you, like cave paintings suddenly coming to life along the walls, some probably appropriate mystical build-up music, before the older brother eagle shows up right at the crest, then you plunge down into the salmon run and get some more delightful Phil Collins music.
Just saying, we could have gotten two cool rides and a sweet Cajun sit down restaurant, instead of one ride that doesn't make much sense build wise.

am i about to rant about my love for brother bear? oh yes i am.
im sorry but denahi dropping every ounce of his anger and malice once he learns the truth is so healing to see as a queer person, or for any member of a marginalised community who has not received immediate and unconditional support and acceptance from their family/those closest to them. the message of this movie is so important and relevant.
such a small detail, but the visual image of denahi’s hand guiding kenai’s paw to the wall to make his mark, showing that being supported should be celebrated instead of taken as weakness, how yes you can forge your own path in life but dont be afraid to lean on people or seek guidance to do it
denahi saying he passed on the wisdom he learnt from kenai. just the simple idea of listening to others increasing your own knowledge and awareness. so important in today’s world where ignorance more often than not equals violence or complicity in violence.
‘no matter what you choose, you’ll always be my little brother’ this is the true meaning of blood is thicker than water. it means family should be there for you no matter what. such a beautiful phrase that sadly often gets twisted to inspire guilt.
the visuals. the music. stunning. the emotional impact is so raw and gets me every time.
the scene where kenai and koda see the drawing of the bear and man fighting. kenai’s journey to understanding the world isn’t so black and white, and also understanding that loving is manly, that loving doesnt sacrifice his masculinity. kenai’s undoing of his hatred and also his toxic masculine ideals is so lovely to watch.
i also think denahi as the villain type character was handled incredibly well. i think they kept it very obvious that his anger was the outpouring of his grief as a young man having lost his family and although you can’t help but feel tense when he appears for kenai and koda’s sakes i dont think he is ever portrayed as evil at all, just misguided and confused on how to deal with his grief. the ending is extremely cathartic and his unwavering acceptance of everything prevents me from believing he is anything but a good person.
did i mention phil collins bringing out more bangers?

there issss something about having wants that conflict with the self like
i love people and persons and i want to meet people and persons i want to move out and learn to drive so i have more opportunities to do that but also i dont like going outside and also idk how to just talk to people and have to hope somebody will interact with me but i want to meet more persons but no i dont because having more than 2 friends is exhausting. I cant even make friends online. But also interacting with people in person is more fulfilling to me than attempting online. But online is easier. But no it isnt. But i want to meet people and learn more about people and observe people because I love people. And i love everyone

Brother Bear (2003)
Brother Bear will always be an underrated classic to me. I feel like way too many people forget about this movie. It was also nice to see male main protagonists, because we don’t get to see alot of it coming from the Disney franchise. I also liked how they went deeper into brotherhood and gave the world a better understanding of what it means spiritually and physically.
Plus the Soundtrack is Highly underrated and Phil Collins did not have to SNAP like that 👀

Sleeping Beauty (1959) v Brother Bear (2003) v Treasure Planet (2002)
Tumblr media
Sleeping Beauty: "I know you I've walked with you once upon a dream..." and the full orchestra is timeless. Much of the music here was inspired by the 19th century ballet, and honestly we imagine you could do ballet to most of the movie. This soundtrack is also the first to have stereo sound.
Brother Bear: Phil Collins is back at it! This one has the energy of "On My Way" for sing-a-longs and the magic of the score as with the "Transformation" sequences. Plus we would be remiss to not mention Tina Turner preformed "Great Spirit"
Treasure Planet: Are you hearing a score that reminds you of Star Wars? Or perhaps your ears are picking up the Celtic inspirations? Either way, there is no missing "I'm Still Here (Jim's Theme)," one of the most relatable original song from their Funky Era (experimental age)

Y'all need to shut up about plot twists and big reveals when we all know there has been no plot twist more shocking and heartbreaking than finding out that the bear Kenai killed was Koda's mother in Brother Bear
