i know its been a few weeks since the marwa wwdits episode but can i just say. i hate all the people who took that VALID criticism of the episode and turned it a million ways to make it seem like it's ridiculous.
no one said guillermo should have felt angry for marwa and killed nandor. no one said it was out of character how nandor acted. no one said that they were disappointed by nandor's in-universe actions.
people were angry because how the writers treated marwa! marwa, like the djinn this season, got introduced as a reoccuring side-character that was involved in plots to about the same extent as him. i saw people saying they thought the outrage was *ridiculous* because she "wasn't even a side-character". dude. a role like hers IS big compared to how often side-characters usually appear. simon the devious, the baron, etc. appear once a season or so, but marwa and the djinn both were (somewhat like nadja's doll) actual additons to the main household. and all of them don't get a ton of screentime or character development, but they all make far more frequent appearances than the rest of the cast.
but marwas "joke" the entire time had been how absolutely bad nandor treated her. like, making her want whatever he wants her to want, even before the "i want her to like whatever i like" wish, and changing her so much that she barely even was an own person anymore and then turning her into a completely other person as a final blow. like, the joke was that nandor treated her like shit, and that could have worked, if there was any sort of consequence to it.
and i don't mean "oh they don't explicitly say that nandor is a bad person :(", i mean, even tv shows where every person is an asshole all of the time (like, idk, breaking bad) still give you consequences for your character's flaws and actions. nandor was met with guillermo being angry at him, but that would have also happened of nandor had wished for a freddy to just materialize out of thin air. there never is any actual point to nandor treating marwa like shit - she doesn't get to have some revenge on him, no one else even makes some offhand remark about marwa, the plot of the whole season would have had very little difference if she hadnt been there, no one EVER remarks that he treats her like shit. And then i just don't get why she existed in the first place? like, were we actually supposed to laugh at how he treated her? was that supposed to be her purpose?
there also just. wasn't a reason why nandor didn't wish for a freddy to just materialize. there wasn't even a clause to the djinns wish, like "oh i cannot create a living human with a wish" that would give nandor an actual reason to turn marwa into freddy.
and marwa, of course was the first woman of color that had some importance in the show and while turning her into a white man and letting her wander off is ONE thing, i think its even weirder that it seemed like the previous episode was setting up that she actually WOULD get some level of revenge on nandor (she enthusiastically built a man-cave for herself, locked nandor out, and for all we care she could have been offhandedly mentioned every few episodes from then on, like, someone knocks on marwas door every once in a while and she stays a minor reoccuring character, this plot showed her having actual independence and standing up to nandor for once and could have turned into a deeper story from there on, if the writers had wanted) and then they. just. dropped the whole thing and let her ride off on a train like they didn't really know what to do with her and were glad she was put of the way.
if there was some emotional exploration of marwa being twisted into a whole other person. if there just had been ONE person, who actually cared about what happened to marwa. then it maybe would have felt like the plot had had a point. but it wasn't just that nandor dropped marwa like a toy he was tired of playing with, it felt like the plot plot did the exact same with her

New fic idea/au where, while talking to the new Djinn (whose name I'm too tired to remember right now) Nya mentions Nadakahn and the ne Djinn INSTANTLY goes: "Oh that son of a bitch?! Oh god I'm so sorry for you." Like I jus think It'd be so funny if everyone knew Nadakahn since he was a prince and all, but he was an asshole even in his homeworld.

I know we are only on episode two but I think I’m onto something here. No screenshots on this one just in case.
What we know so far is that Arajin Tomoshibi is attached somehow to Senya (a character who appears to be based of djinni or a reference to one thousand and one nights) asking him what his wish is and then partially merging with him to do a big punch.
His wish before the big punch being that he was wants to lose his virginity. Mhkay, guy 👀
Consider for a moment how Djinn wishes in some stories often come out with unexpected results, (look no further than @/asshole-genie in tumblr for an example)
So my bucchigiritheory is that the dudes Arajin punches after making that dumb wish fall instantly in love with him… because that definitely aids in his wish of losing his virginity.
I mean… huge if true and very funny.

Dragons Rising Pt 2 Spoilers Below!!!
eugh boy i have so many thoughts i can’t even begin to start processing them right now but here’s a few things that stuck out
first of all the FUCKING DJINN EPSODE?!??!?!
the snark and bitterness in nya’s voice when she says “the djinn sure knew a thing or two about showmanship” ASDFGHJKL yknow logically i knew they weren’t gonna bring up her trauma because 1)they never do and 2) more important things to worry about, but it was so funny to hear the petty in her voice. that whole thing may have happened a long time ago and she’s definitely moved past it but that doesn’t mean she can’t still be bitter
also???? wish magic isn’t inherently bad itself, it’s how it’s used, and the way arrakore talked about being a hero that traversed realms like that was a normal thing just confirms that nadakhan was truly evil on his own. it’s just him. the djinn race and their wish granting abilities aren’t evil, it was literally just that asshole asdfghjkl
secondly, nothing is going to be able to convince me that geo and cole aren’t a thing, i’ve never shipped something so fucking fast. the way they look at each other???? “i was worried if you didn’t need me, you would leave”???? “but i do need you”????? holy fucking shit. and nya and cole???? the most siblings ever???? god i can’t get enough of how much they love and care for each other, i was tearing up the entire episode oh my god
and lastly jay… jesus christ never have i been more thankful for 30 seconds of screen time. it’s proof of life, and technically the only thing i asked for so i can’t complain asdfghjkl. even though a part of me is mad it was only 30 seconds, im glad we didn’t get any answers now because it would’ve been extremely rushed and probably poorly handled. the show runners saving jay’s whole arc and the majority of cole’s for season two makes me believe it’s gonna be pretty crucial to the story line and im glad they’re gonna take more time to flesh it out.
i have so many thoughts but this is all im capable of at the moment asdfghjkl

can never get over the fact that his father's not even alive in his perfect wish world because having him there would break the immersion and he would immediately realize something was wrong when his dad was softball man and not the world's biggest asshole. he literally is only tolerable as a beloved memory. bringing this energy forward into my fic where cas is just never actually there in "heaven" (djinn heaven now) because if he was then it would immediately break the immersion because no djinn no matter how talented at manipulating the human brain could possibly illustrate their convoluted situationship with any degree of accuracy and the jig would be instantly up

Skybound had so many good ideas and concepts that I really like the season for. On the other hand, it fumbled like 80% of those ideas soooo hard that makes me want to cry.
(suuuper long indulgent rant about Skybound underneath cut read at your own risk)
Nadakhan is my favorite villain in a bubble. He’s this disgraced djinn prince who runs away from his home realm to become one of the most feared pirate captains in Ninjago and when he tries to return home, it’s all crumbling. He then exacts revenge on those who destroyed his home by manipulating them and toying with them psychologically, eventually trapping their souls in a sword? Badass, right?
Except that all of this cool characterization is contradicted and bastardized left and right. The season dumbs down the ninja instead of making Nadakhan smarter so he can win. When he gains the ability to make his own wishes, he resorts to immediately killing everyone. His obsession with Nya is really weird considering that she was the one who CAUSED Djinnjago to get destroyed.
Jay and Nya’s character arcs are really interesting too. In a bubble. Jay has to step up as a leader after all his friends were taken by this guy, who he has to face after he kidnapped and tortured him. He fucked around and found out the hard way and has to make up for it. Nya continues to struggle with her identity and coming into her own as a ninja and not having Samurai X to latch onto. They both have to fight to keep each other safe and make sacrifices and fall back in love.
Once again though, this is all fumbled and explored in a way that makes me tear my hair out. Jay is a selfish obsessive whiny asshole who’s pining for Nya is super uncomfortable and annoying to watch instead of cute or relatable. Nya is an even bigger asshole than he is. She lets Clouse get away in the beginning to throw a tantrum on Jay, which causes Nadakhan to be freed in the first place. She causes Jay to nearly get killed by the Tiger Widow and then get kidnapped/tortured, all because she was mad at him.
So many other plot points and character choices make me so upset it really detracts from the season as a whole. To name some:
Kai’s ultra inflated ego/obsession with social media and girls
Dareth
Forcefully inserted misogyny
All of the prison arc. All of it.
Ronin betraying the ninja for the police. I get he likes money, but the ninja saved his ass and he is a known criminal. Just a weird place to take his character.
The ninja turning on Jay immediately and effectively sacrificing him to the ultra deadly giant spider
Cole and Lloyd being unceremoniously/anti-climatically removed from the season so Jay and Nya could be alone
Marriage plot (specifically Delara and the marriage plot only ever being used as an excuse for Nadakhan to fight with Jay over Nya which is really gross)
I wish Delara was explored more and was not a creepy Nya clone for Nadakhan to drool over, ew
Dareth
Cole, Lloyd, and Nya using up their wishes immediately in really stupid ways
Tonal whiplash from the goofy lighthearted first half of the season to the dark hopeless second half
Echo Zane (before the Echo fans come after me, I like his character, but he just introduces a lot of plot implications that are never resolved or addressed for a character who has like 10 minutes of screen time max and never gets to come back)
We never learn why Cliff and ‘Libber’ abandoned Jay with the Walkers. Cliff obviously cared about his son, he made a shrine for him in his dressing room, so why did he never contact him before his death? What happened to Jay’s mom? Did Wu know? It’s annoying to have this plot point, only for it to never be explored in the whole show besides a line about being adopted in Prime Empire. Maybe we’ll get some context in Dragons Rising, but I doubt it.
We were robbed from a rematch between Captain Soto and Nadakhan
I honestly wouldn’t mind the ending, if it wasn’t for the fact that the writers can’t decide wether everyone remembers the alternate timeline or not. That and it’s seems like the events of Skybound don’t effect Jay and Nya in later seasons like at all besides a wink and a nudge at the viewer. Once again, Jay was kidnapped and physically/psychologically abused and tortured, and Nya straight up died. They are the only people who (completely) remember and gained what should be a massive amount of trauma but nope! Lloyd has more on-screen/canon trauma over Harumi than Nya does about DYING or Jay does about TORTURE. Again, I don’t think that Dragons Rising will explore this to any extent either.
I also don’t mind the whole trapping the ninja in the Djinnblade thing, I just wish the ninja could have had more screen time. Either by keeping them around longer before trapping them, or showing what inside the sword was like idk
Nadakhan and Jay are kinda weird because I’m not sure why he singled him out out of all of the ninja. I know the Doylist answer is that Jay is the focus character for the season, but I find it weird that instead of getting the other ninja while he could, he wasted a lot of his time toying with Jay on Misfortunes Keep. Why didn’t he just kidnap all of the ninja on Tiger Widow Island instead of giving them a chance of escape. His obsession with Jay could have been easily explained or explored it it never is?
TL;DR, Skybound is a mess of really good and really bad ideas Frankensteined together in the messiest, laziest way they could. I still like it quite a bit, but I would be lying if I said it didn’t frustrate the hell out of me.

Nothing Costs Enough
Pairing: Dean Winchester/Castiel (Destiel)
Genre: Romance, alternative universe, Djinn universe, angst with a happy ending, modern setting with a twist
Rating: Explicit
Chapter 3 is up!
The first thing Castiel Novak noticed about Dean Winchester on the day they met was Dean was way too alive for the old, dusty dorm room he was currently dominating. He filled the room with a glow that radiated out of him until it hit the edges. Dean was too large for the used wooden bunk beds with all the scratches from years of being cobbled together and taken apart as students got creative with their newfound freedom. He was exploding, vibrant color compared to the beige walls, scuffed dull floors, and old wooden desks crammed into opposite corners. His green eyes were hidden tucked under long eyelashes, a sinful full mouth sat below a dusting of fair freckles, and he wore a leather jacket despite the August heat and humidity in Lincoln, Nebraska making the room temperature swelling despite the dilapidated air conditioner. Castiel shook Dean’s hand and couldn’t helped but feel hypnotized by his charm. Castiel was immediately taken by everything about Dean the first second they touched. Before the door opened, Castiel had waited in anticipation because any minute now his roommate for one school year would be there and it would be the true beginning of his college experience. It felt like his new life away from his former suffocating family wouldn’t begin until college felt real and it wouldn’t feel real until his roommate arrived. A loud knock on the door and the immediate turn of the key signaled an important change. And in walked Dean Winchester into Castiel’s life. It wasn’t long before Castiel noticed something else about Dean: he was an asshole and a prick all rolled into one beautiful, shallow package.
Read Chapter 3 Here!
Start the Journey!

Something that caught me off guard in ninjago dragons rising was in ep 14 the last Djinn. when Sora and Nya were the cave with Arrakore. I GENUINELY THOUGHT NADAKHAN WAS ABOUT TO RETURN FOR A SEC THERE AND IT GAVE ME A PANIC ATTACK-
I still think abt how fucked it is that Nya and Jay are the only ones who know abt what happened in skybound like wth. Imagine almost dying to POISON and your partner getting tortured on a pirate ship for days on end.
THEN imagine trying to explain that to your student on the spot when she’s very clearly battling her own demons in addition to now needing to fight this powerful Djinn who’s standing in front of you.
Just good for thought lmaoo
Lowkey Nadakhan was a fucking asshole and I hate him but he was one of the better villains and a giant threat imo. They should bring him back methinks
(Clutch Powers still has the lamp!)

Round 1A - Bracket Three [Dimension 20 NPC of All Time]
Bill Seacaster vs Basrar
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda under the cut (Contains major spoilers for Fantasy High and/or Sophmore Year)
Bill Seacaster - He/him
Campaign: Fantasy High
Who is he?
William "Old Bill" Seacaster is a great adventurer with a great deal of fame who clearly made his wealth and his name in "heroic", while others call "nefarious", dealings. He is the father of Fabian Seacaster.
Why is he the NPC of All Time?
He’s a pirate archdevil who bought a jacket made to explode when he died and pilots a ship made from a dragon that threatened his son, named after the nickname his son’s friends gave said dragon. (Also he shot gilear twice but we’re ignoring that because he got better)
You CANNOT tell me Brennan didn’t have the time of his life playing Bill, his whole DMussy was thrown into that performance
The greatest pirate who ever lived OR died. He is a great father to his immensely silly and foppish son despite his own macho pirate-ness. He's a definitely an evil man but he's an excellent father and a horrible influence on children in the best way possible. When he is mortally wounded in his burning mansion, his son kills him for dope pirate clout and he is SO PROUD OF THIS!!!! He can be quoted saying "When I die, I shall leap into hell and kill the devil" which he ACTUALLY DOES and then he proceeds to plunder the nine hells on a pirate ship made from the damned soul of an evil dragon lord whilst at the same time running a warlock pyramid scheme/total scam in the world of the living. P.S. He also kills the man who's been bedding his wife since he died, and then shakes his hand and makes him promise to treat her right moments later. He is everything to me
He married the woman who cut his eye out. He handcuffs himself to the ceiling so he can keep fighting. So many swords up assholes. And then he becomes the fiercest pirate in hell. Icon.
Basrar - He/him
Campaign: Fantasy High
Who is he?
Basrar is a dejected djinn that can only use his genie powers to make ice cream.
Why is he the NPC of All Time?
Random sad ice cream genie who was so important to the pcs that he got his happy ending at the end of season one.

Geraskier ideas #2, pain edition:
What if instead of wishing for "peace and quiet", Geralt fucks it up with the djinn even more and goes "I wish we've never met" on Jaskier and accidentally retcons Jaskier out of his life.
And he either wastes his other two wishes before realizing what really happened, or doesn't have the wishes anymore due to timey-wimey shenanigans.
So Geralt is stuck, miserable and alone and without Jaskier.
He does think about finding Jaskier, but decides against it -- without him Jaskier is safe and happy and Geralt never deserved him anyway.
He can't stay in taverns when there's a bard, because it hurts too much. He barely cares about his wounds, because no one yells at him for getting too reckless. He's alone, as he should be.
He's fine, except he isn't.
And then the winter comes. And when Geralt gets to Kaer Morhen, Jaskier is there, with one of Geralt's brothers. Because of fucking course he is.
And, worst if all, Jaskier perfectly happy.
Geralt always knew that out of all of the wolves he was the worst one for Jaskier to get stuck with. He's an asshole and not the fun kind like Lambert. He isn't as nice and kind and fucking perfect like Eskel. And there is a proof of this right in front of him.
Jaskier is better off without him.
And it hurts.
He's a stranger to Jaskier, and it hurts so fucking much when Jaskier is right there.
And Geralt knows he can't undo his stupid wish, because he can't destroy this, even if he had the means to.
Everybody got what they deserved and Geralt truly believes in that moment that he deserves to be alone, that he never deserved Jaskier in the first place. That this is right, even if it hurts.

Spoil for chapter 14 of my own fic? I guess? This is Nadakhan's alternate death, that I had to scrap for reasons explained below
And cw for um gruesome way of death
I had another death planned for Nadakhan when I wrote the end of chapter 14 that I didn't use because it was way too unrealistic (yes more then what I wrote) and because I FORGOT THE DAMN WISH WHEN I WROTE IT
I kind of- left myself get taken by the current of writing y'know
And, as bittersweet as it sounds, Nadakhan hadn't realized (well I hadn't realized) that Jay was indeed broken, because nothing can make it up for what he's been through. Here, his frustration was quick to be resolved, which didn't sound right. Especially when dealing with Nadakhan, of all villain.
Someone who won no matter the outcome.
[punches their wall again at the thoughts]
And that caused Jay to never be satisfied with whatever he'd do
[Breaks wrist by punching the wall again]
BUT it did not have the Jay taking Nadakhan's eye away part which I thoroughly enjoyed writing afterwards to make up for the scenes I had given up. Sigh.
But hey! Here's a snippet of what I had written! Enjoy!
-----
Jay came behind, watching what he had done so far.
The arm he had taken off was slowly burning, the electricity left there making the skin turn a dark shade before the fire ate it away. It amused him, if anything. Especially when it came to watch the torn shoulder, badly torn, with the putrid liquid being forced out at the absence of the limb it was supposed to keep alive.
Nadakhan coughed. Painfully. It was a melody to his ears.
But it didn’t feel enough. It never did.
Groaning, he got closer. What was there to do? What more could he do to the one that had taken everything away from him?! He couldn’t figure it out, and it made him more frustrated. The static around grew thicker, heavier. Nadakhan cried as it pushed him further into the ground, not feeling into himself a way of fighting back.
Then, burning fingers came on his back, pulling away the armor as if it was made of nothing but scraps. He threw it to the side, discarding it far away from here, and placed his hands on the djinn’s back- hands that were made of pure energy, tearing his skin apart as it searched for something-
There.
He took the spine, and pulled on it. Not quite breaking it apart- no, that would be too easy. Would kill that asshole too quickly. Instead, he made it so the bone was sticking out, simply making sure that it wasn’t protected, yet still connected to the nerves.
The body under him twitched and screamed, as he agonized in horror.
Not enough. Not enough.
He had one final wish.
There was something else he wanted to take away. Something that intrigued him too much.
“I wonder if you have a heart. You fucking monster.”
Before an answer could be given- if there even was an answer to be done, he speared through the man’s back, right where he knew the vital organ to be.
“Let’s see if you survive this.”
In a blink, he was in front of Nadakhan, and pulled the heart out, warm and bloodied in his hand.
The body got electrocuted as he did, and he watched with envy, as the eyes immediately dulled, not before a veil of pain made them roll in the back of his skull.
Then, Nadakhan fell limp. Nothing showed that he was still alive, no. Nothing to show that something would grow back. Instead, a dark pool kept extending under him, slight twitches from the electricity still coursing inside.
Other then that, everything became silent, aside the rumbling of the storm that was nothing but comfort to him. A storm that stood proud, and understanding of his choices.
Nadakhan was dead.
And suddenly, he felt bliss.
