I think its more a case of amount of media/entries

I don't think I'd phrase it as one is more "real" than the other, and more so different pacing

Theres 10 or 11 mg/s games, and only one for death stranding (with DS2 upcoming) so far

Mgs covers well over roughly 50 years, and much of characters' relationships and interior thoughts are off screen/left unsaid

The relationships in mgs tend to be more "fast burn", character catch feeling/relationships develop far more quickly/ have room to breath off screen, vs ds "slow burn", its plot happens at a much slower pace than any game individually, but there isnt any room for relationships to develop on or off screen in the same way ig?

And mgs do quite a bit of jumping around in the timeline after mgs2, tbf

We definitely saw a bit of lisa, cliff, diehardman and briget's complicated realtionships towards the end of the game, but it doesnt help how far in the past/how closed off and distant most of those characters are

(How reciprocal cliff and diehardmans relationship was isnt clear)

We also saw the slow movement and development of higgs' infatuation/obsession with sam, and really only saw much acknowledged by sam near the end of the game, with the boss fight and final pizza.

But, if sam and higgs are loosely paralleling naked snake and ocelot, it took the later 2 playstation games before actually having them interacting on screen together finally in mgs3 (after 2 games of barely subtext that ocelot was gay/queer, and was infatuated with naked snake/possibly other male characters) And we only see them begin to reach an equal understanding (maybe) at the end of the game, because of the layers of trauma and cold war espionage/spy bs obfuscating it

They have several violent fights/soldier meet cutes where they beat the crap out of each other, ocelot falls hard and fast for an enemy, with classic movie troupes like gaussian blur being used to suggest a dreamy quality, and snake spares a a young upstart who causes many a problem like higgs, and he should by all intents and purposes just kill him, and not just be pleasantly impressed by this weird 20 something

You're right, DS is much slower and has a lot of things in the past, we couldn't have the same amount of games that MG had, I don't think we'll ever reach that number.

But I'm surprised again at how crazy MG is haha

And I didn't mean exactly that one would be more real than the other, but in a sense that as the MG sequels arrived and more of this kind of information was put into the game, the more weight there was in Kojima's intention to talk about it. He wants to talk about how these characters relate and connect and also the way these characters find to love each other within their own complexities. I see him doing that in DS as well and so that's why it expands.

So... If Fragile had to teleport the DS cast with the forehead touch, how would you think they'd react to it? Like, for example, we saw Sam focusing and closing his eyes immediately, without a word.

Well, shit that’s a great question and I’ve been stumped 😂but after a while marinating on it mentally, here’s my two cents: 

Diehardman

Seeing as they are both reserved people, I think Diehardman would try to keep his composure, but there’d be little facial tics he’d display that would show he’s nervous about the arrangement. His body would be tense, stoic if anything, trying to put on a brave face.

Deadman

Based on the affection he openly gives to Sam, I could see Deadman smiling the whole time. The fact that he gets to witness the beach, especially since he claims he doesn’t have one himself, would be exciting for him both on an emotional and career level since he’s a scientist. He’d probably be jumpy much like a kid would be at getting a present and Fragile would have to tell him to concentrate a few times. 

Heartman

I think he’d be very open to it, maybe a little jumpy at first because of the initial closeness but as soon as they’d touch heads he would feel contentment. Also since going to the beach isn’t his first rodeo, he wouldn’t be as nervous like most folks. This would very much be a zen moment for Heartman. 

Mama/Lockne

I think these two would relatively share the same quirks under this circumstance. They’d enjoy the closeness, and would probably wrap their arms around Fragile’s waist and maybe say something motivating to Fragile before they’d go to the beach. 

Amelie/Bridget

Higgs

I have two options for him in this case. One, when he was a porter and working with Fragile, I could see Higgs being nervous and trembling but nonetheless, he has a smile on his face because of the connection he has with Fragile. Second, post-teaming up with Amelie, he’d probably keep his eyes open and would stare the whole time because he doesn’t want to show any vulnerability or weakness. He’d also try to keep his body composed much like Diehardman but he’d shake from time to time indicating there’s a part of him that’s fearful. 

Cliff 

He’d be very comfortable, maybe happy especially if he is concentrating on a memory involving his wife or child. I could see him resting his hands on Fragile’s shoulders with his eyes closed and smiling proudly. It’s his way of letting her know he’s thankful for helping him in this manner.

Death Stranding is such a positive game!

Honestly Death Stranding is such an impactful experience, and it's something people forgot that games can be, an experience. A game doesn't always have to be full of action and guns blazing to be a game. Sometimes it can be what Death stranding is... interaction, beautiful environment, interesting story about the world we live in, and characters who breathe life into the world.

This game makes me feel so positive, it makes me feel loved and valued. Everyone in the game is so good to Sam, even the people who hate BRIDGES like 'The Elder' treat Sam with respect. (Of course everyone not including the 'antagonistic' characters like MULEs)

The game oozes love, motivation, and positivity. We all felt good when Heartman gave us likes, we all felt good when BB was happy. We wanted the best for the characters because all of them treated us with love.

It's such a feel good environment! That, coupled with the beautiful music of Low roar (and just the Timefall OST in general) made the whole experience phenomenal.

It's not often I can say I loved every supporting character in a game, but I did with DS. I love Deadman, I love Heartman, I love Mama, Fragile, Diehardman, Cliff, and just all of these guys.

All of them were different in personality, but they all loved Sam.

Don't even get me started on the way this game smashed stereotypes. No one here cares if you're gay, straight, Ace, or whatever. Sam was a feminine man, every one, regardless of gender, gave him a piece of their heart (imo Deadman was the winner in the end tho 😂)

It's a world where everyone is free to be themselves and you'll be welcomed regardless because they live at a time where connecting is the most important thing. You learn to love the people as they are. As a gay man, there are parts that really hit me, like Heartman telling Sam "I didn't mean to alarm you, but I am what I am." Same, Heartman. Same. And I love you exactly as you are, you fucking nerd.

Diehardman? Fucking Bi-icon. This is the president the world deserves!

Mama and Fragile? Strong female figures!! like you can't tell me they won't beat the fuck out of Sam if they want to because they can.

And most importantly, as you play, you realize... you're not alone. You're here connecting with the in-game characters and other players. Though you can't see other players, you know they're there. They're cheering you on in fights, supporting you, leaving you ladders, ropes, helping you build roads, and they look after structures you built. This is a game where you have to work together with other players to make it easier for everyone. Your actions, your equipment, it benefits everyone, not just you.

It's also a good feeling when you come across the in-game Porters. They're so friendly, give you equipment, and ugh!! It's just a good feeling all around!!!

The world and the characters, they'll resonate with me.

I think I can say that about the fanbase too! Everyone has been so kind, so friendly. We're here to help one another, share our experiences, make connections, and all of this just... makes you feel less alone.

It's a good game, and though I understand it's not for everyone, you can't deny the impact it has. At the end of the day, it made you feel something, whether negative or positive.

I'm so damn proud to be a part of this experience and this fanbase.

❝ SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME THE WORLD WAS GONNA ROLL ME . ❞ + your pick XD

Okay nonny, bear with me here this is kind of a crack drabble lmao! 💙

“Mr. President! Mr. President!” Deadman panted for breath as he ran into Die-Hardman’s office. He bent forward, placing his hands upon his knees while his breathing became ragged. 

The sudden burst took Die-Hardman by surprise as he looked upon his colleague with concern. Furrowing his brows, he placed the paperwork he had been going over down at his table and approached Deadman. 

“What’s wrong? Did something happen?” Die-Hardman asked his voice firm and commanding as Deadman nodded. 

“You need to come quick, some colleagues found a message from Higgs plastered on one of the doors to the science division!” Deadman exclaimed, watching as Die-Hardman urgently got up and made his way out of the office. 

Deadman shuffled quickly behind the president, keeping a lookout every so often while they both made their way to the location. Deadman adjusted his glasses from time to time, feeling his legs start to strain from all the running he had done getting from point A to point B in the facility. 

The vandalism wasn’t what Die-Hardman expected as he came upon the door Deadman spoke of. He squinted his eyes, seeing there was a small note taped to the door leading into the compound of the science division where workers tinkered around with plants and grains genetically. 

“This is--it?” Die-Hardman said, sounding both amused and also taken aback as Deadman finally caught up. 

“You have to read it, sir.” Deadman said urgently.

Die-Hardman sighed, shaking his head as he approached the note. It couldn’t have been bigger than a post-it, but the lettering was in all caps and easy to read when one was close enough. 

“Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me--” Before Die-Hardman could mouth the rest, a clicking sound came from behind the door. In a split second, a mechanical fist bolted through the door, hitting Die-Hardman square in the face. He flew several feet back, landing on his behind as his hands clamored over his face while his body rolled from side to side, trying to dull the pain. Die-Hardman felt a radiating pulse of lightning shoot through him as creative curses flew from his mouth. 

On the other side of the door, Higgs was cackling like a hyena amused with itself. His wheezing laughs echoed throughout the building as he managed to sloppily pull the mechanical fist back to its starting position, then fell against the wall. His face was a red mess as he laughed, tears coming from the corners of his eyes as Deadman followed suit along with other colleagues of the UCA. 

Die-Hardman managed to compose himself, rubbing his nose as he glared at everyone. His gaze was intimidating as all of them had shut up minus Higgs who was still throwing a fit. 

“I free you out of prison and this is the thanks I get?” Die-Hardman asked bitterly, clenching his fists. 

“If I may, sir,” Deadman gestured as he stifled a chuckle. “He got me and everyone else with it.” 

“Get back to work!” Die-Hardman shouted, causing the workers and Deadman to jump as they quickly retreated. His attention went to Higgs, who was by now holding onto his abdomen as he fell to the floor and continued his antics.

“When you’re done pissing yourself, there’s going to be repercussions,” Die-Hardman said firmly. 

“Worth it!” Higgs managed to exclaim, taking in a deep breath before he laughed again. 

Die-Hardman sighed, rolling his eyes as he gently pinched his nose to make sure it wasn’t broken. He was beginning to regret his decision letting the former terrorist out. Then again, if Higgs was this creative, maybe he could be useful to the UCA for something.

so. we went through the prologue and first one and a half chapters of death stranding.

the first 5 hours of gameplay is basically everything you’ve seen in trailers. like every. single. thing. nothing to spoil even. besides sam and amelie actually being related. but i think i was the only one who lost that and was confused, huh.

the gameplay so far has been only delivery with very minor stealth.

also surprisingly, the online sharing system of using others resources works shockingly well, not what i would’ve expected at all.

vergil would be playing it again tomorrow, but i don’t think i would even be able to watch his streams, much less join him, so i guess... youtube. yeah. someone has to have completed the game already, review copies have been out for a while.

i am extremely interested in mads’ character, as expected. what i didn’t expect is to immidiately get attached to heartman. heartman is bae. even if i dodn’t get to meet him proper yet.

also what the fuck were you thinking naming three main “tech“ guys heartman, deadman and diehardman. i am already fucking this up.

i think i am going to tag “ds spoilers” just in case if i go further. so if you’re interested in death stranding PLEASE BLOCK THAT.
